172: The Incomparable Holiday Vault 3

00:00:00   the incontrovertible number 172 december [TS]

00:00:09   to enter 13 welcome back everybody to [TS]

00:00:12   the incomparable i'm your host Jason [TS]

00:00:14   snow and this week we're going to be [TS]

00:00:15   talking about holiday TV for the last [TS]

00:00:20   couple years we've had an episode where [TS]

00:00:21   we've conducted films into what we've [TS]

00:00:23   called the uncomfortable holiday TV [TS]

00:00:26   fault it's sort of a conceptual vault [TS]

00:00:30   where we place things we like I guess [TS]

00:00:33   although the by the sound of it also [TS]

00:00:35   could be someplace we lock away things [TS]

00:00:37   we don't like and never want to see [TS]

00:00:38   again anyway although with that was the [TS]

00:00:41   holiday movie volt we did actually [TS]

00:00:43   induct some TV in there and last year's [TS]

00:00:46   movie selections we start to realize [TS]

00:00:48   there aren't that many great holiday [TS]

00:00:49   movie so this year we're going to induct [TS]

00:00:52   some TV shows and put them in the vault [TS]

00:00:53   which is no longer the holiday movie [TS]

00:00:55   fault is now the holiday movie and TV [TS]

00:00:58   and who knows what other things we might [TS]

00:01:00   stick in that vault later when we run [TS]

00:01:02   out of things to talk about anyway so [TS]

00:01:04   we're conducting some holiday a TV that [TS]

00:01:06   we like in our our little fault it's [TS]

00:01:09   it's it's red with green door our little [TS]

00:01:11   vault as about has a bow on da yeah cute [TS]

00:01:15   so join me to induct things into the [TS]

00:01:18   vault are three fine gentleman David [TS]

00:01:22   lower hello welcome hello [TS]

00:01:25   I think tonight is a perfect definition [TS]

00:01:27   of the old saying shows before hohos [TS]

00:01:30   wow thank you thank you [TS]

00:01:33   I'm here all week impressed heavily by [TS]

00:01:35   that joke is Steve life by steve i'm [TS]

00:01:38   usually impressed i and i'm pleased as [TS]

00:01:41   punch to be here to stink up the holiday [TS]

00:01:44   vault once again right here you keep it [TS]

00:01:46   real wit you are the booby trap at the [TS]

00:01:50   frontier the false front of the vault [TS]

00:01:52   that that people don't look beyond what [TS]

00:01:54   you pick for the true value that's in [TS]

00:01:56   the back and think that's right that's [TS]

00:01:58   right and incidentally was this was not [TS]

00:02:00   the holiday movie vault [TS]

00:02:02   initially i would like to point out as I [TS]

00:02:04   was accused of cheating during that [TS]

00:02:07   first season when when I selected a [TS]

00:02:10   Charlie Brown Christmas but in fact your [TS]

00:02:12   email clearly [TS]

00:02:13   stated the TV shows were eligible so [TS]

00:02:15   yeah so it shifted a little movie of all [TS]

00:02:19   things a bit of retconning there you can [TS]

00:02:21   see your colony on it well now it's [TS]

00:02:23   proven that it is not just a movie volt [TS]

00:02:25   because the tvs stuff is in there it's [TS]

00:02:28   really officially now so why I write I [TS]

00:02:30   give in it just just like I gave up on [TS]

00:02:32   John siracusa picking on solo from the [TS]

00:02:34   Christmas special Star Wars Christmas [TS]

00:02:36   special somebody pick that going to try [TS]

00:02:39   to explain that one to me it is my goal [TS]

00:02:40   in life to try to make you give up [TS]

00:02:42   yeah basin it's the holiday special and [TS]

00:02:44   here for thanksgiving not Christmas [TS]

00:02:46   well this is the holiday vault though [TS]

00:02:48   not the Christmas fault so who knows [TS]

00:02:50   what might happen it was for life day [TS]

00:02:52   didn't somebody pick a groundhog day [TS]

00:02:54   last year it's a holiday dude yes yes [TS]

00:02:57   indeed and that was Monty Ashley you [TS]

00:02:59   were there hi Monty welcome hello [TS]

00:03:01   happy Holidays Happy Holidays whatever [TS]

00:03:03   all happy life day to all our wiki [TS]

00:03:05   listeners I think we should all mmm [TS]

00:03:11   alright so the way this is gonna work is [TS]

00:03:13   because at this point every episode we [TS]

00:03:15   do is just a draft that's it pretty soon [TS]

00:03:18   I'm just gonna change the name of the [TS]

00:03:20   podcast to draft world just everyone [TS]

00:03:24   every week another draft or we draft [TS]

00:03:26   next we don't know rapping rapping table [TS]

00:03:28   draft [TS]

00:03:28   yes I'll do that so but you know this is [TS]

00:03:32   we're gonna go around and each of us [TS]

00:03:34   will choose something and hopefully will [TS]

00:03:35   not overlap on pics that's why the draft [TS]

00:03:39   format works so well but of course if [TS]

00:03:40   somebody pick something that you love [TS]

00:03:41   feel free to talk about it because they [TS]

00:03:44   don't get to like steal away all of the [TS]

00:03:46   precious love for that thing we can [TS]

00:03:49   should share the love it's the holidays [TS]

00:03:50   were sharing the love just try to stop [TS]

00:03:52   us we're gonna get started with Monty [TS]

00:03:54   well I'm not starting with a Christmas [TS]

00:03:56   episode because my favorite holiday [TS]

00:03:58   episode of a television show is my [TS]

00:04:00   favorite episode of any television show [TS]

00:04:02   the series is WKRP and sound that no [TS]

00:04:05   yeah it across that one off right and I [TS]

00:04:08   didn't even put it on just in case very [TS]

00:04:11   early in their run their seventh episode [TS]

00:04:13   they did turkeys away on the theme of [TS]

00:04:17   thanksgiving and it is a great great [TS]

00:04:21   episode incredibly funny and watching it [TS]

00:04:24   now which I did a couple of days ago [TS]

00:04:26   what you're really struck with her I was [TS]

00:04:28   anyway is that the stars of the show [TS]

00:04:31   where loni anderson and howard hesseman [TS]

00:04:33   as jennifer and dr. johnny fever but [TS]

00:04:37   they do very little in this episode all [TS]

00:04:39   the heavy lifting is done by richard [TS]

00:04:41   sanders as Les Nessman the key moments [TS]

00:04:45   of the show when the turkeys are dropped [TS]

00:04:49   from a helicopter and plummet to the [TS]

00:04:52   ground like sacks of wet cement is [TS]

00:04:54   Turkey's do I assume so you only see [TS]

00:04:58   through les Nessman eyes as he's [TS]

00:05:01   describing them to you over the humanity [TS]

00:05:03   and it works so well and it all builds 2 [TS]

00:05:07   i'm gonna say one of the best punch [TS]

00:05:10   lines in television history sitcoms [TS]

00:05:13   rarely have the guts to just build to a [TS]

00:05:15   final line that a character says and [TS]

00:05:18   then you end the show but they did back [TS]

00:05:21   in the seventies and in fact the end [TS]

00:05:23   credits have already started running [TS]

00:05:24   when Gordon jump as Arthur Carlson comes [TS]

00:05:27   out and says as God is my witness I [TS]

00:05:30   fucking to Turkey's can fly it is one of [TS]

00:05:35   the best sitcom I don't know if it's my [TS]

00:05:38   favorite WKRP but it probably is i love [TS]

00:05:41   the episode with a where's the bomb [TS]

00:05:42   threat at the remote transmitter and the [TS]

00:05:44   flaps are gonna come with johnny fever [TS]

00:05:46   but but it is this episode is so great [TS]

00:05:49   and that last line is so perfect and yet [TS]

00:05:52   what I always forget when I watch it is [TS]

00:05:54   the the right before it what happens [TS]

00:05:56   which is less appears finally and it is [TS]

00:06:00   as if they were organized its today's [TS]

00:06:02   describes the turkey counter-attacks [TS]

00:06:05   matters have to the helicopter is later [TS]

00:06:07   she gets short shrift that is brilliant [TS]

00:06:09   and so like a hallucinatory and it's [TS]

00:06:13   because it's great [TS]

00:06:14   wow well Monty you win all right [TS]

00:06:17   measurement back it up [TS]

00:06:19   yeah that's the definitive take that [TS]

00:06:21   holiday vault that's right of Alton's [TS]

00:06:23   all the vault grew three sizes that day [TS]

00:06:26   will make up for the rest of my [TS]

00:06:28   ridiculous pic step [TS]

00:06:30   alright David it's your turn alright one [TS]

00:06:33   of my favorite holiday episode of [TS]

00:06:35   anything is from homicide life on the [TS]

00:06:37   street and [TS]

00:06:38   investors could it is it really is it's [TS]

00:06:42   called all through the night is from the [TS]

00:06:44   third season was the third season and it [TS]

00:06:48   starts off with a a sidewalk Santa Claus [TS]

00:06:53   getting brutally murdered so you know [TS]

00:06:56   Oh real that's real obsolete and Richard [TS]

00:07:00   Belzer and Ned Beatty are the ones who [TS]

00:07:02   catch that homicide so they find out [TS]

00:07:06   that this person apparently this man [TS]

00:07:08   apparently has a son so they they go to [TS]

00:07:11   tell the Sun and when they when they get [TS]

00:07:13   to the the guys apartment they find out [TS]

00:07:15   the kids all by himself he's about 10 [TS]

00:07:17   years old and Ned Beatty says we can't [TS]

00:07:21   we can't just do this you know we can't [TS]

00:07:23   just tell him this is this is wrong this [TS]

00:07:26   is Christmas Eve you just you stay here [TS]

00:07:29   with the kids i'm going to go out and [TS]

00:07:31   look into this [TS]

00:07:32   so he leaves Richard Belzer with the [TS]

00:07:34   smartass little ten-year-old and he goes [TS]

00:07:37   off and investigates the case and [TS]

00:07:39   meanwhile the kid is like why are you [TS]

00:07:41   here [TS]

00:07:42   what's going on and.and Belzer this is [TS]

00:07:45   the last thing he wants to do on a good [TS]

00:07:47   night little on Christmas Eve and I mean [TS]

00:07:50   there are other stories that go in and [TS]

00:07:52   out of the episode with the other [TS]

00:07:54   characters but mainly the focus is on [TS]

00:07:57   this this story and of course but you [TS]

00:07:59   know it just keeps getting darker and [TS]

00:08:01   darker because you think they're gonna [TS]

00:08:02   have to come to a point where they have [TS]

00:08:04   to tell this kid his father's not coming [TS]

00:08:06   home and of course you know Belzer is [TS]

00:08:09   getting more and more uncomfortable and [TS]

00:08:10   just you know the longer this goes is a [TS]

00:08:13   where the hell is Ned Beatty and finally [TS]

00:08:15   at the end of the episode I mean it's [TS]

00:08:17   almost too good to believe Ned Beatty [TS]

00:08:19   comes in with the guys father and it [TS]

00:08:21   turns out that the other that the [TS]

00:08:23   murdered sidewalk Santa had stolen his [TS]

00:08:25   wallet and that's how they identified [TS]

00:08:27   the guy was from the skull while ago [TS]

00:08:29   heartwarming haha so it's a Christmas [TS]

00:08:31   miracle somebody else's father's day [TS]

00:08:34   yeah that's right kids 11 he just wanted [TS]

00:08:39   money to buy his kid a little bicycle [TS]

00:08:41   and the kids sold all of his bicycle [TS]

00:08:45   gear by his father know that [TS]

00:08:46   and the best part is now the doubt the [TS]

00:08:48   dad has his wallet back [TS]

00:08:50   that's right once it gets out evidence [TS]

00:08:54   yeah it was just a wonderful you know [TS]

00:08:57   just a dark humored twisted bizarre [TS]

00:09:01   christmas story the winds up having a [TS]

00:09:03   happy ending [TS]

00:09:04   I didn't think you were going to go [TS]

00:09:05   there let's see we've had dead turkeys [TS]

00:09:10   we've had a dead Santa yeah this is a [TS]

00:09:13   dark but I take it back this bolt is not [TS]

00:09:15   read with a green door this is a black [TS]

00:09:17   black volt as black as your hearts [TS]

00:09:20   that's great because black christmas [TS]

00:09:21   can't kill anything that's already does [TS]

00:09:23   exactly right all right Steve while so [TS]

00:09:27   if with something [TS]

00:09:28   yeah I don't know about the wedding part [TS]

00:09:31   of that well when you pick something i'm [TS]

00:09:34   going to say wow yeah well your mouth [TS]

00:09:36   may open slightly [TS]

00:09:37   wow I actually almost didn't join in [TS]

00:09:42   this year's holiday vault because i feel [TS]

00:09:44   i perfected in the last two years yeah [TS]

00:09:46   no not really actually although i've [TS]

00:09:49   seen a lot of holiday TV frankly when I [TS]

00:09:52   sat down and rack my brain to try to [TS]

00:09:54   come up with one to induct I couldn't [TS]

00:09:56   really think of any that stood out other [TS]

00:09:59   than the WKRP Thanksgiving episode which [TS]

00:10:01   I knew would already be taken by [TS]

00:10:03   somebody else by the time I got to pick [TS]

00:10:05   so and of course i already used a [TS]

00:10:07   Charlie Brown Christmas two years ago [TS]

00:10:09   when when we learned that i'm actually [TS]

00:10:11   the only person including yourself who [TS]

00:10:13   read your emails [TS]

00:10:15   oh yeah I thought about pulling out the [TS]

00:10:17   star wars holiday special because that [TS]

00:10:19   actually has become thoroughly enjoyable [TS]

00:10:21   with the addition of the rifftrax but [TS]

00:10:22   I've already talked that up on more than [TS]

00:10:25   one occasion and and frankly I'm getting [TS]

00:10:27   sick of hearing about it uh so I you [TS]

00:10:30   know I almost opted out completely and [TS]

00:10:33   then I thought about it a bit and I [TS]

00:10:35   realized oh wait there is one Christmas [TS]

00:10:40   TV show i could mention that has some [TS]

00:10:42   sentimental value to me at least [TS]

00:10:45   explicitly to me although apparently not [TS]

00:10:48   to anybody else on the planet [TS]

00:10:50   they're probably been I don't know [TS]

00:10:51   probably more televised adaptations of [TS]

00:10:53   Dickens Christmas Carol than any other [TS]

00:10:56   story by a wide margin i would guess [TS]

00:10:59   they're probably hungry [TS]

00:11:00   if not thousands probably hundreds this [TS]

00:11:03   this pick is definitely one of them in [TS]

00:11:07   1979 just one year after the [TS]

00:11:10   aforementioned star wars holiday special [TS]

00:11:12   there were at least two TV movies based [TS]

00:11:15   on the Christmas Carol one of those was [TS]

00:11:18   an American Christmas Carol that's the [TS]

00:11:20   one with henry winkler playing an [TS]

00:11:22   American depression-era Scrooge it was [TS]

00:11:25   received fairly well and in fact it's [TS]

00:11:26   it's currently available for purchase on [TS]

00:11:28   DVD [TS]

00:11:29   the other has been almost completely [TS]

00:11:31   forgotten and is not available anywhere [TS]

00:11:35   amazingly not even on YouTube where you [TS]

00:11:37   can usually find everything that was [TS]

00:11:38   televised and horrible but not in this [TS]

00:11:41   case [TS]

00:11:42   Jason I know I know you like to play TV [TS]

00:11:44   executive i have let me run a pitch by [TS]

00:11:46   all right lay it on me [TS]

00:11:48   alright I don't a lot of time go ahead [TS]

00:11:50   here comes I here's the idea we take [TS]

00:11:54   Dickens Christmas Carol I love it [TS]

00:11:55   already [TS]

00:11:56   keep your car it's it's good right I [TS]

00:11:58   haven't read it but I've seen many [TS]

00:11:59   adaptations of my love it keep going for [TS]

00:12:01   cocaine [TS]

00:12:02   well this this adaptation is musical and [TS]

00:12:06   and all the major characters will be [TS]

00:12:08   played by big-name country music stars [TS]

00:12:10   from the late nineteen seventies it's [TS]

00:12:12   really thick interesting that was pretty [TS]

00:12:15   much the pitch that said that's pretty [TS]

00:12:16   much what about it i bought that not I'm [TS]

00:12:18   I is it the late seventies now I guess [TS]

00:12:21   it is yes but I say yes fantastic [TS]

00:12:25   then what about history let's do you and [TS]

00:12:28   somebody NBC apparently to my amazement [TS]

00:12:32   both greenlit my pick for this year's [TS]

00:12:35   holiday vault it is called skinflint [TS]

00:12:37   colon a country christmas carol it [TS]

00:12:42   features hoyt axton as Cyrus Flint who [TS]

00:12:45   is our country 5 version of Scrooge it [TS]

00:12:48   has stuttering mel tillis as country Bob [TS]

00:12:50   Cratchit Lynn Anderson is his wife has [TS]

00:12:53   appearances by larry gatlin and Barbara [TS]

00:12:56   Mandrell and Tom T hall and the statler [TS]

00:12:59   brothers it has famous character actors [TS]

00:13:01   like Martha Raye and dave madden better [TS]

00:13:04   known as Reuben Kincaid and oh yes in [TS]

00:13:07   the role of TJ the country music version [TS]

00:13:10   of tiny tim is a perky seven-year-old [TS]

00:13:13   wat by the name of Steven lots of [TS]

00:13:15   nepotism [TS]

00:13:18   that's right an odd casting move i think [TS]

00:13:21   to fill the semi major role with [TS]

00:13:22   somebody who can either act nor saying [TS]

00:13:24   but that's traditional for tiny Taylor [TS]

00:13:26   is from the chi Frank we got to figure [TS]

00:13:29   these TV people know what they're doing [TS]

00:13:30   right [TS]

00:13:31   that kid is going places that's right [TS]

00:13:35   sure is yeah i was produced and directed [TS]

00:13:38   by the great mark Daniels who also [TS]

00:13:41   directed episodes of believe it or not i [TS]

00:13:43   love lucy Gunsmoke Hogan's Heroes kungfu [TS]

00:13:46   Alice the man from Atlantis and perhaps [TS]

00:13:49   most importantly 15 episodes of Star [TS]

00:13:52   Trek the original series including the [TS]

00:13:55   mantrap space seed and spots yeah your [TS]

00:13:58   interview I'd like to quote now from [TS]

00:14:03   IMDb I think you should which so holiday [TS]

00:14:06   reading which says Steve lots is an [TS]

00:14:08   actor known for skin flayed the country [TS]

00:14:11   christmas carol 1979 see full buy em [TS]

00:14:14   right you know if they put commercials [TS]

00:14:16   in there would probably say Skeletor but [TS]

00:14:17   that's that's not something IMDb covers [TS]

00:14:20   just yet [TS]

00:14:21   Wow yep and believe it or not but a [TS]

00:14:26   skinflint colon a country christmas [TS]

00:14:28   carol was even nominated for an emmy for [TS]

00:14:30   outstanding individual achievement dash [TS]

00:14:32   special class for the technical director [TS]

00:14:35   and camera operators it did not in fact [TS]

00:14:37   a good camera operating voice was [TS]

00:14:41   castigated with special amounts of class [TS]

00:14:43   we gotta come up with something nice to [TS]

00:14:45   say so have you have you not ever seen [TS]

00:14:47   it or since it was on [TS]

00:14:49   ah you know what I further for the [TS]

00:14:53   reasons of the existence of this show [TS]

00:14:55   that was what my parents bought the [TS]

00:14:57   gigantic VCR that we used to tape it and [TS]

00:15:01   I do in fact have it on videotape [TS]

00:15:03   I'm probably the only person to have it [TS]

00:15:05   on videotape my understanding is it [TS]

00:15:08   showed up on country music television [TS]

00:15:10   maybe once about 15 years ago but since [TS]

00:15:14   then it's effectively been buried [TS]

00:15:17   I and given its sterling credentials you [TS]

00:15:20   might wonder why that is [TS]

00:15:22   and the answer is it's it's it's fairly [TS]

00:15:26   terrible [TS]

00:15:27   I i remember watching it at the time you [TS]

00:15:31   do are you kidding me again no I'm [TS]

00:15:33   serious it made enough of an impression [TS]

00:15:34   on you that you recall well as a big fan [TS]

00:15:37   of that one gallon the kid who plays [TS]

00:15:39   tiny tim is great i'll guarantee that [TS]

00:15:41   good [TS]

00:15:42   he had a big impression on me no I i [TS]

00:15:44   still remember the full-page ad in TV [TS]

00:15:47   Guide oh yes there was a really creepy [TS]

00:15:50   black and white image of some sort of [TS]

00:15:52   artist's rendering of me in that yeah [TS]

00:15:55   sure that his terrify remember the [TS]

00:15:59   creepy quite accident but yeah of course [TS]

00:16:00   there would be a creepy tiny tim to ya [TS]

00:16:02   down in the corner I look like I'm about [TS]

00:16:03   to cry it's wonderful but ya know I i [TS]

00:16:08   watched because my grandparents we lived [TS]

00:16:10   with my grandparents at the time and my [TS]

00:16:12   grandfather loved country music soul of [TS]

00:16:14   that country music you know the old [TS]

00:16:16   energy and so is like Marty Robbins and [TS]

00:16:18   pop goes the country and he hot and so [TS]

00:16:20   yeah country version of christmas carol [TS]

00:16:22   fired that's a no-brainer [TS]

00:16:24   yeah I get that thing on the team right [TS]

00:16:25   now and then get you off immediately [TS]

00:16:28   hey what's going on i play with mr. [TS]

00:16:30   triples ok [TS]

00:16:31   wow that's um it's amazing to me that [TS]

00:16:33   you actually remember that because I I [TS]

00:16:35   you may be the first that has said that [TS]

00:16:39   sense I think 1978 itself [TS]

00:16:42   wow yeah yeah I mean it's not the worst [TS]

00:16:45   thing ever it's certainly not it doesn't [TS]

00:16:47   rise to the level of awful dumb that [TS]

00:16:49   that the star wars holiday special did [TS]

00:16:52   but the dialogue is it's pretty cheesy i [TS]

00:16:55   mean the songs are pleasant enough but [TS]

00:16:57   it's not the kind of stuff you find [TS]

00:16:59   yourself singing in the shower [TS]

00:16:59   afterwards [TS]

00:17:01   ah obviously almost nobody in the lead [TS]

00:17:04   roles other than hide accident done any [TS]

00:17:06   acting and and code has hit show [TS]

00:17:07   actually I think they might have hired [TS]

00:17:10   me to make the other actors look [TS]

00:17:11   somewhat competent by comparison and [TS]

00:17:14   it's filmed on that same stock that they [TS]

00:17:16   use for soap operas so even as the [TS]

00:17:18   opening credits roll is blatantly [TS]

00:17:20   obvious that this is a really cheaply [TS]

00:17:22   made TV movie but it was a pretty cool [TS]

00:17:24   experience for me I my parents listen to [TS]

00:17:26   mostly country music and I knew most of [TS]

00:17:28   these guys were and almost all of them [TS]

00:17:30   turned out to be really super nice [TS]

00:17:32   down-to-earth people who you know they [TS]

00:17:33   they were just all good folk good [TS]

00:17:36   country full good except for the people [TS]

00:17:37   you're now going to list and describe [TS]

00:17:39   they're not [TS]

00:17:40   well I would never do such a thing let [TS]

00:17:42   Boyd accident rest in peace [TS]

00:17:45   actually there's only only one person [TS]

00:17:46   with whom i had a minor running and as a [TS]

00:17:48   seven-year-old so you know I'm not gonna [TS]

00:17:52   I'm not gonna go into great detail but [TS]

00:17:54   suffice it to say that some people who [TS]

00:17:56   may or may not played my mom were [TS]

00:17:58   somewhat primadonna ask which is kind of [TS]

00:18:01   a pity because I always really liked [TS]

00:18:03   your music but what are you gonna do so [TS]

00:18:05   what we're saying is call right email [TS]

00:18:09   country music TV and demand that they [TS]

00:18:13   order a blu-ray remastered HD ready to [TS]

00:18:17   go rerun version of skinflint to play [TS]

00:18:20   yes this with the massive the massive [TS]

00:18:23   audience muscle of incomparable behind [TS]

00:18:25   this thing and ensure that my shame can [TS]

00:18:29   be broadcast to millions of people want [TS]

00:18:31   to get or Steve you should just you know [TS]

00:18:33   post that stuff on youtube I you know [TS]

00:18:36   I've given that some thought and I have [TS]

00:18:38   absolutely no idea who I would actually [TS]

00:18:40   request the rights to do so 20 don't [TS]

00:18:43   request the rights youtube youtube [TS]

00:18:44   copyright doesn't count on youtube don't [TS]

00:18:47   you know that I I'm just yeah I've heard [TS]

00:18:50   something along those lines I just fear [TS]

00:18:51   that i would spend some some effort to [TS]

00:18:54   to convert it to a digital format only [TS]

00:18:56   to have it wiped for existence almost [TS]

00:18:59   immediately but at some point it may it [TS]

00:19:02   may actually have to happen but yeah in [TS]

00:19:06   some ways it's a pity that it's never [TS]

00:19:07   resurfaced because it does feature one [TS]

00:19:09   of my proudest kidda moments which is [TS]

00:19:13   that in the final scene where the whole [TS]

00:19:16   group is eating Christmas dinner at [TS]

00:19:18   Flint's nephews house and everyone was [TS]

00:19:20   told to ad-lib dinner conversation we [TS]

00:19:23   all will have some sort of food item in [TS]

00:19:24   front of us so that we could actually [TS]

00:19:25   eat during moments when we were not [TS]

00:19:28   supposed to talk and my item was this [TS]

00:19:30   little bowl of fruit cocktail and during [TS]

00:19:33   one of the many many many takes of that [TS]

00:19:36   scene because remember these were not [TS]

00:19:37   actors and i was working with myself [TS]

00:19:40   least of all I noticed something odd [TS]

00:19:43   floating in my bowl of fruit cocktail [TS]

00:19:45   so I exclaimed in my squeaky [TS]

00:19:47   high-pitched seven-year-old voice hey I [TS]

00:19:51   think there's a booger in my fruit [TS]

00:19:52   cocktail [TS]

00:19:53   guess which take they used wow you can [TS]

00:20:00   hear it it's already clear if you know [TS]

00:20:01   what to listen for you can hear [TS]

00:20:03   hey I think there's a booger in my free [TS]

00:20:05   culture which raised the the rating of [TS]

00:20:09   this TV movie at least up to PG well [TS]

00:20:12   that's the clip you're gonna have to [TS]

00:20:13   post on YouTube it'll get there someday [TS]

00:20:16   but for now you'll just have to imagine [TS]

00:20:18   its wonders you have been listening to [TS]

00:20:21   inside the actors studio with Stephen [TS]

00:20:23   lutz and believe me I'm not blending [TS]

00:20:26   when I bring this anything I should be [TS]

00:20:28   hiding this so skinflint a country [TS]

00:20:32   christmas carol inflated the colon a [TS]

00:20:34   country christmas carol in the vault do [TS]

00:20:37   not omit the colon clink clink it's in [TS]

00:20:39   the vault now thank God it's in the [TS]

00:20:41   vault [TS]

00:20:42   yeah so now we're can never hurt anybody [TS]

00:20:44   alright I am going to go next and i want [TS]

00:20:49   to ask you fellows where were you in [TS]

00:20:51   1989 you know where we were [TS]

00:20:54   Steve Monty you were at the university [TS]

00:20:56   of california at san diego know you [TS]

00:20:58   UCSD and pretty sure so here's the thing [TS]

00:21:00   in 1989 there was a an animated [TS]

00:21:04   christmas special that aired on fox [TS]

00:21:07   this happened because although it was [TS]

00:21:09   just an episode of a new TV series that [TS]

00:21:12   the fledgling fox TV network had ordered [TS]

00:21:15   they they decided not to error it in the [TS]

00:21:18   fall or the episodes weren't ready in [TS]

00:21:20   the fall and yet one of the episodes was [TS]

00:21:22   a Christmas episode so they had to pull [TS]

00:21:24   it ahead and broadcast it at Christmas [TS]

00:21:27   time even though the series itself [TS]

00:21:29   wouldn't premier until early of 1990 [TS]

00:21:32   this ancient history is only relevant [TS]

00:21:34   because this is the first episode of a [TS]

00:21:36   TV show that is still on the air today [TS]

00:21:39   it's the simpsons roasting on an open [TS]

00:21:43   fire episode of the simpsons the first [TS]

00:21:46   two air it's why their dog is called [TS]

00:21:49   Santa's Little Helper [TS]

00:21:50   and although it's not in fact it as a [TS]

00:21:53   first season simpsons episode it's quite [TS]

00:21:54   primitive in many ways and it is sort of [TS]

00:21:57   in the middle of a transitional form [TS]

00:21:59   between the two very weird and strange [TS]

00:22:01   tracey ullman version of The Simpsons [TS]

00:22:03   and the more refined [TS]

00:22:06   on model version of The Simpsons that [TS]

00:22:08   emerged after a couple years there's a [TS]

00:22:11   lot i remember watching it was on [TS]

00:22:13   there's a lot to accredit it's a lot of [TS]

00:22:15   fun and a lot of the aspects of the [TS]

00:22:17   simpsons are already there [TS]

00:22:18   Homer learns a lesson they adopt the [TS]

00:22:21   they adopt their dog and you know it [TS]

00:22:24   started something that continues with [TS]

00:22:26   you know whatever 500 episodes later and [TS]

00:22:29   I think that makes it particularly [TS]

00:22:30   notable to I do not appear in it in any [TS]

00:22:33   way by the way I'm not and I was just a [TS]

00:22:35   college student as well as you know show [TS]

00:22:37   is still on you and that one of the [TS]

00:22:40   things i like about the simpsons [TS]

00:22:42   roasting on an open fire and this [TS]

00:22:44   actually was the only other one that I [TS]

00:22:45   considered 44 mention because the only [TS]

00:22:48   one I can remember is that if it has [TS]

00:22:52   that same kind of feel that all the [TS]

00:22:54   first season simpsons does where it's [TS]

00:22:56   really almost more of a it's almost more [TS]

00:22:59   standard city family so I'm absolutely [TS]

00:23:01   but not not really in you know in [TS]

00:23:03   conventional ways and but it but it [TS]

00:23:05   always it still has some sort of a [TS]

00:23:07   sentimental feel to it which you i think [TS]

00:23:10   from second season on it was it was rare [TS]

00:23:12   to have that sort of you know Homer [TS]

00:23:15   isn't a complete a-hole and all times he [TS]

00:23:17   is occasionally a loving father and [TS]

00:23:19   that's always kind of liked that aspect [TS]

00:23:22   too early simpsons yeah into the show [TS]

00:23:27   has gone through many different forms [TS]

00:23:29   syndrome it since then you know it here [TS]

00:23:31   Homer you know he's obviously a complete [TS]

00:23:34   screw-up but he's trying to do the right [TS]

00:23:36   thing and you know he just he isn't [TS]

00:23:37   capable of it [TS]

00:23:38   well it has it has a sweetness to it [TS]

00:23:41   that I think the show has always had [TS]

00:23:43   that it's tried to mix that it isn't [TS]

00:23:44   completely a cynical with its characters [TS]

00:23:47   they did they do try to come back to [TS]

00:23:49   some sort of center of those characters [TS]

00:23:52   by the end of an episode even as wacky [TS]

00:23:54   as some other episodes of will sometimes [TS]

00:23:57   get so yeah I'm throw it in the vault [TS]

00:23:59   there goes it's in there looks good in [TS]

00:24:02   their flying hey i'm ok i miss the ball [TS]

00:24:05   let me try again [TS]

00:24:06   good now it's in their time for a break [TS]

00:24:10   between rounds to talk about our first [TS]

00:24:12   sponsor on this episode is a returning [TS]

00:24:13   sponsor to linda.com ly nba.com [TS]

00:24:17   what is lynda.com super high-quality [TS]

00:24:19   training it uses videos and writing to [TS]

00:24:23   teach you how to use technology better [TS]

00:24:26   it's got lots of great stuff adobe [TS]

00:24:28   creative suite programming languages [TS]

00:24:30   including java and objective-c got web [TS]

00:24:34   development it's got graphics it's got [TS]

00:24:36   audio production in fact logic pro is [TS]

00:24:40   what I use to edit every episode of the [TS]

00:24:42   incomparable and I'm basically [TS]

00:24:43   self-taught I came from garageband I [TS]

00:24:45   kind of figured out how to use it it may [TS]

00:24:47   be way more productive but I have so [TS]

00:24:49   much to learn i'm not scratching the [TS]

00:24:50   surface so one of the things I'm doing [TS]

00:24:52   at lynda.com is I'm taking the courses [TS]

00:24:54   from the experts the experts in audio [TS]

00:24:56   production the experts at logic pro and [TS]

00:24:59   I'm learning all of these great new [TS]

00:25:01   techniques to make the podcast sound [TS]

00:25:03   better the next time we do a radio drama [TS]

00:25:05   i'm going to have learned so much about [TS]

00:25:07   audio editing that I didn't know when we [TS]

00:25:10   did our first radio drama episode on [TS]

00:25:12   lynda.com and what's great about it is [TS]

00:25:14   they got more than 2,000 of these high [TS]

00:25:16   quality video courses are taught by the [TS]

00:25:18   experts they add courses every day but [TS]

00:25:20   you pay one monthly fee $25 gets you [TS]

00:25:24   access to the entire library and a lot [TS]

00:25:27   of people are doing this they're more [TS]

00:25:28   than 2 million people worldwide who are [TS]

00:25:30   getting their training from lynda.com so [TS]

00:25:33   I'm enjoying it i already did some ipad [TS]

00:25:35   podcast stuff i'm going to move on to [TS]

00:25:37   another area i know nothing about which [TS]

00:25:39   is audio editing on my mac but they've [TS]

00:25:41   also got stuff about business skills [TS]

00:25:43   they've got microsoft office like I said [TS]

00:25:45   they have a Creative Suite they got [TS]

00:25:46   hobby information like get a [TS]

00:25:48   professional photographer to give you [TS]

00:25:50   photo taking tips or video tips [TS]

00:25:53   it's all in there and you can watch from [TS]

00:27:01   are you going to do for a follow-up I [TS]

00:27:02   well I had a list prepared but Steve's [TS]

00:27:06   entry reminded me of egg rain experience [TS]

00:27:10   I had were automatically have any sweet [TS]

00:27:12   Jesus [TS]

00:27:13   so it's 1979 Steve you are an HBO [TS]

00:27:18   executive ok i am too [TS]

00:27:31   it have boobs [TS]

00:27:33   no but here what it does have ok [TS]

00:27:37   WC Fields Ebenezer Scrooge Paul Lynde is [TS]

00:27:41   Bob Kraft you got a little Johnny Carson [TS]

00:27:44   richard nixon Humphrey Bogart Groucho [TS]

00:27:51   Inspector Clouseau they're all in this [TS]

00:27:54   and you only have to pay one guy really [TS]

00:27:58   is i'm talking about rich Little's [TS]

00:28:01   christmas carol had performance [TS]

00:28:05   yep which I remember vividly he would [TS]

00:28:10   have to run out the door and then run in [TS]

00:28:12   another door just really putting on [TS]

00:28:13   another wig or something [TS]

00:28:16   it's everything you are imagining what I [TS]

00:28:18   say rich little christmas carol it with [TS]

00:28:21   him doing Paulie and as Bob Cratchit wow [TS]

00:28:24   I'm having flashbacks well as we speak [TS]

00:28:27   but it's just him standing there in [TS]

00:28:29   various wigs and then running backstage [TS]

00:28:31   periodically know it's it's edited [TS]

00:28:33   together with you know he's in costumes [TS]

00:28:35   and yeah he's in costume but like he'll [TS]

00:28:37   jump back and forth to do the different [TS]

00:28:39   parts tools write WC Fields as Ebenezer [TS]

00:28:42   Scrooge yelling and then [TS]

00:28:43   jump to another part of the stage and [TS]

00:28:45   turn around he's Pauly D's Bob Cratchit [TS]

00:28:47   talking back and then Richard Nixon as [TS]

00:28:49   Jacob Marley appears as the ghost they [TS]

00:28:52   don't they don't use some sort of [TS]

00:28:53   terrible split screen effect where he's [TS]

00:28:55   standing next to himself doing all this [TS]

00:28:58   he's actually jumping back and forth [TS]

00:29:00   yeah as i remember there were no special [TS]

00:29:02   effects except the magic of his voice [TS]

00:29:04   which if you ever watch some rich little [TS]

00:29:07   on youtube is really really unimpressive [TS]

00:29:11   well also yes impressions not really [TS]

00:29:16   made to be watched [TS]

00:29:18   he's a boring looking guy but it didn't [TS]

00:29:22   do the voices as well as you remember [TS]

00:29:25   yeah yeah by the way the tiny tim in [TS]

00:29:28   this production was him doing Truman [TS]

00:29:30   Capote classic so there's my late [TS]

00:29:36   seventies christmas carol adaptation for [TS]

00:29:38   the vault [TS]

00:29:39   thanks Monty so it turns out there are [TS]

00:29:41   no good TV shows about holidays I i have [TS]

00:29:44   some decent ones but i did too but I [TS]

00:29:47   threw it out so I can wash this 18k [TS]

00:29:49   Steve had it cued up for a second round [TS]

00:29:51   pick [TS]

00:29:52   well well done Monty well then that'll [TS]

00:29:56   that'll provide some again some good [TS]

00:29:58   security at the front of the fault [TS]

00:30:00   um David what do you have well um let's [TS]

00:30:05   see [TS]

00:30:05   intern remember which year it would be [TS]

00:30:07   1990s you're gonna say 1979 nineteen [TS]

00:30:13   ninety years CBS executive someone comes [TS]

00:30:17   to you and says hey I want to set a show [TS]

00:30:20   in the middle of nowhere with nobody [TS]

00:30:23   you've ever heard of and it's about a [TS]

00:30:26   guy who wants to leave that place as [TS]

00:30:28   soon as he can [TS]

00:30:29   can we should in eastern Washington [TS]

00:30:30   possibly and he's not a contestar [TS]

00:30:34   network with all these great ideas a [TS]

00:30:37   terrible terrible network we all work [TS]

00:30:39   for different hypothetical networks will [TS]

00:30:41   never get together on this [TS]

00:30:42   that's true anyway that would be [TS]

00:30:46   northern exposure about a doctor from [TS]

00:30:48   New York City who to repay his [TS]

00:30:51   medical-school bills winds up in this [TS]

00:30:53   little town in Alaska [TS]

00:30:55   and it was on for two summers of i think [TS]

00:31:00   eight episodes each and you know barely [TS]

00:31:03   getting any ratings but they finally [TS]

00:31:05   said I let's bring it back it's you know [TS]

00:31:07   people like it so in their first full [TS]

00:31:10   series their first full season they did [TS]

00:31:13   they finally got to do a Christmas [TS]

00:31:14   episode called soul mates and it's [TS]

00:31:18   spelled soul is in Korea because the one [TS]

00:31:21   character Maurice Minnifield former [TS]

00:31:24   astronaut and town mogul is lamenting [TS]

00:31:29   the fact that he's alone he's like you [TS]

00:31:31   know this is a horrible holiday you have [TS]

00:31:33   you ever noticed that suicide rates go [TS]

00:31:35   up at Christmastime you know it's [TS]

00:31:37   horrible because it's just everyone [TS]

00:31:38   makes you feel bad for being alone and [TS]

00:31:40   you know what I like being alone [TS]

00:31:42   D'Arnot and all of a sudden this family [TS]

00:31:46   from korea shows up and it turns out to [TS]

00:31:49   be the woman he had an affair with and [TS]

00:31:53   her son and the grandson who is the only [TS]

00:31:57   one who speaks English so he's the [TS]

00:31:58   interpreter for them and Maurice is [TS]

00:32:01   horribly uncomfortable with all of this [TS]

00:32:04   and at the same time the town is getting [TS]

00:32:09   ready for their their celebration of the [TS]

00:32:12   the holiday but it's the Raven festival [TS]

00:32:14   and so everything is all Ravens and [TS]

00:32:18   darkness and Chris in the morning is [TS]

00:32:20   reading at Ground po on the radio and [TS]

00:32:22   you know and finally Shelly the waitress [TS]

00:32:26   at the bar where everybody hangs out [TS]

00:32:28   who's kind of an innocent she's still a [TS]

00:32:31   young girl and she's she's here because [TS]

00:32:35   she fell in love with the owner of the [TS]

00:32:37   bar and moved in with him and then [TS]

00:32:38   married him [TS]

00:32:39   and she says you know this guy i miss [TS]

00:32:43   Christmas this isn't Christmas it's very [TS]

00:32:45   nice i like Ravens and all that and it's [TS]

00:32:48   not even that i miss Church i just i [TS]

00:32:51   miss the songs i miss Christmas you know [TS]

00:32:53   this just isn't an old-fashioned Charlie [TS]

00:32:55   Brown Christmas you know and so they [TS]

00:32:58   managed to balance the celebration of [TS]

00:33:02   the Christmas and a more traditional [TS]

00:33:03   holiday for her with the Raven festival [TS]

00:33:08   in the Native Americans in Alaska and [TS]

00:33:10   it's it's open so just the lovely [TS]

00:33:12   balance of all these stories and you go [TS]

00:33:14   well there's more than one festival [TS]

00:33:16   going on huh [TS]

00:33:18   and that's one of the things I loved [TS]

00:33:20   about that season of northern exposure [TS]

00:33:21   it kind of went way downhill the next [TS]

00:33:25   season but that third that the first two [TS]

00:33:29   seasons and then that first full season [TS]

00:33:30   are just beautiful i love that show I [TS]

00:33:33   always we i watch that show was on I'll [TS]

00:33:36   I i discovered that because it was it [TS]

00:33:38   was what was a to summer short runs [TS]

00:33:41   yeah yeah two summers in a row of like [TS]

00:33:43   eight episodes yep that's why I [TS]

00:33:46   discovered it at that point and then yes [TS]

00:33:48   that was a that was a fun show fun [TS]

00:33:50   quirky our it be rare your rare [TS]

00:33:53   hour-long comedy basically dramedy thing [TS]

00:33:56   when I moved to Seattle I made a point [TS]

00:33:58   of stopping off in rosslyn which was [TS]

00:34:00   where they shot all the exteriors for [TS]

00:34:01   that you remember [TS]

00:34:03   Roslin's cafe yeah right that's actually [TS]

00:34:06   the rosslyn cafe the TV show just drew [TS]

00:34:10   an apostrophe s on it that made up a [TS]

00:34:12   story about somebody named roslyn [TS]

00:34:14   founding it and i miss that show it was [TS]

00:34:16   a good show [TS]

00:34:17   yeah everyone good 1i haven't thought [TS]

00:34:19   about that game time so thank you [TS]

00:34:21   thumbs up the so further coming through [TS]

00:34:24   it is TV shows that i wrote spec scripts [TS]

00:34:26   for so how many of those that do we have [TS]

00:34:30   exactly David well let's see there's all [TS]

00:34:32   the next generation ones [TS]

00:34:34   yeah let's not go there Steve what do [TS]

00:34:38   you have next [TS]

00:34:38   I not skinflint yeah you know i'm at a [TS]

00:34:44   loss i literally don't have anything [TS]

00:34:46   except that [TS]

00:34:48   so skinflint round two skinflint colon [TS]

00:34:52   country christmas carol uh our previous [TS]

00:34:55   holiday vault episodes we we talked for [TS]

00:34:58   kind of a long time on each of these and [TS]

00:35:00   we each only got 11 item and no I [TS]

00:35:05   actually I actually came up with ok why [TS]

00:35:07   but i'm not really prepared to say [TS]

00:35:08   anything much about it other than that [TS]

00:35:10   it's awesome [TS]

00:35:11   ok and and you know I could talk about [TS]

00:35:16   Charlie Brown Christmas again but that [TS]

00:35:17   would be that would be already in the [TS]

00:35:18   vault is already in the world it it is [TS]

00:35:21   the definitive holiday TV special it is [TS]

00:35:23   it there by myself [TS]

00:35:25   ah so instead i will bring up the great [TS]

00:35:28   dr. Seuss's how the grinch stole [TS]

00:35:32   christmas the 1966 animated television [TS]

00:35:35   special animated by chuck jones there's [TS]

00:35:38   really no getting around the fact that [TS]

00:35:39   Chuck Jones animated this where it's [TS]

00:35:42   above cartoon with but if with Thomas's [TS]

00:35:45   characters inserted those mid-sixties [TS]

00:35:47   truck Jones eyebrows on everyone [TS]

00:35:50   that's right it is of course the [TS]

00:35:52   retelling of the the children's book by [TS]

00:35:55   dr. Seuss we're the grinch forces his [TS]

00:35:58   dog Max to take him into Whoville and [TS]

00:36:01   steal away all of the Christmas presents [TS]

00:36:03   and the trees and all exclusively [TS]

00:36:07   because he just hates the who's and [TS]

00:36:09   can't stand all of their Christmas and I [TS]

00:36:12   know how he feels like you know what I [TS]

00:36:14   do too especially when they bust out [TS]

00:36:16   that yahoo door a song you have lived [TS]

00:36:19   next to noisy neighbors who sing all the [TS]

00:36:20   time it is annoying [TS]

00:36:22   yeah and that's a particularly cloying [TS]

00:36:24   song I i feel i unlike the excellent [TS]

00:36:28   you're a mean one mr. Grinch performed [TS]

00:36:30   by general Ravenscroft where r is [TS]

00:36:33   crafted a magnificent [TS]

00:36:34   ah so yeah good music quality animation [TS]

00:36:40   a good story kind of a sweet the meaning [TS]

00:36:43   of Christmas isn't really consumerism [TS]

00:36:45   ending i think it was a requirement for [TS]

00:36:47   all 1960s TV specials [TS]

00:36:49   yes brought to you by tied that's right [TS]

00:36:52   in fact if it was the Charlie Brown [TS]

00:36:56   Christmas actually sponsored by kokor [TS]

00:36:58   something i believe it was [TS]

00:36:59   something like that yeah you're a [TS]

00:37:01   hypocrite Charlie Brown haha anyway even [TS]

00:37:05   my sponsors gone commercial hard but [TS]

00:37:08   yeah it's the grinch it's a classic is [TS]

00:37:10   what I very few holiday well Christmas [TS]

00:37:15   TV shows that is considered a classic [TS]

00:37:17   that I think legitimately deserves it [TS]

00:37:20   unlike some I could mention rankin/bass [TS]

00:37:22   yeah which may or may not be mentioned [TS]

00:37:26   here later but yeah the grinch gotta [TS]

00:37:30   love the grinch yep gotta love the fact [TS]

00:37:32   that everybody knows the Grinch and I [TS]

00:37:33   don't really have to say much about it [TS]

00:37:35   you're right i love that especially yes [TS]

00:37:38   alright here's my selection reminded of [TS]

00:37:43   this over Thanksgiving when they live [TS]

00:37:45   streamed the turkey day marathon for [TS]

00:37:48   Mystery Science Theater 3000 I haven't [TS]

00:37:49   watched you know much mystery science [TS]

00:37:52   theater 3000 someone went off the air [TS]

00:37:54   even though i loved it so and it [TS]

00:37:57   actually the livestream ended with a [TS]

00:37:59   reprieve of a patrick swayze Christmas [TS]

00:38:03   so I have to have a big mama de santa [TS]

00:38:05   claus conquers the martians episode of [TS]

00:38:08   mystery science theater 3000 it is funny [TS]

00:38:12   it's got that great Patrick Swayze [TS]

00:38:14   christmas song in it and it's a great i [TS]

00:38:18   mean it's a great set of riffs to it's a [TS]

00:38:20   great Christmassy mst3k so I i love it [TS]

00:38:25   and it's a it's a winner so I pick it it [TS]

00:38:27   has Pia Zadora as a little little girl [TS]

00:38:31   as a small child of pia zadora yeah and [TS]

00:38:33   featuring drop oh it's so right for [TS]

00:38:37   riffing they did a whole new set of [TS]

00:38:40   risks for rifftrax and cinematic titanic [TS]

00:38:42   did it to have a novelization of santa [TS]

00:38:45   claus conquers the martians that was [TS]

00:38:46   written decades later it's very strange [TS]

00:38:49   and i don't like it exists [TS]

00:38:51   was it post MST yeah must be I look like [TS]

00:38:54   exist it would not exist but we're not [TS]

00:38:57   for MSD it's printed in green ink and [TS]

00:39:00   came with a DVD of the movie case you [TS]

00:39:02   wanted to I don't know watch it while [TS]

00:39:04   you read it so you can experience it [TS]

00:39:06   through two ways at once why I was felt [TS]

00:39:10   bad when i watched because the the [TS]

00:39:12   the actor who played drop oh I had seen [TS]

00:39:14   him on Broadway [TS]

00:39:16   he was the guy who sort of came in when [TS]

00:39:18   mr. Hooper passed away on sesame street [TS]

00:39:20   so he took over the store was like oh I [TS]

00:39:22   have all this association with him and [TS]

00:39:24   now [TS]

00:39:24   oh dear god what did you didn't back it [TS]

00:39:27   was like but you gotta get a paycheck [TS]

00:39:29   when you're when you're young [TS]

00:39:31   they couldn't have been babe giving out [TS]

00:39:33   big paychecks on this movie new now it's [TS]

00:39:36   a spectacularly bad movie originally [TS]

00:39:39   buddy ebsen was supposed to be in that [TS]

00:39:40   purpose he was allergic to the green [TS]

00:39:42   paint the hooray for Santi Claus aw yeah [TS]

00:39:49   kick check it out maybe they're making [TS]

00:39:53   their you spell it sa NT acla us right [TS]

00:39:57   but it's pronounced throat Warbler [TS]

00:39:59   mangrove know it's pronounced Santy [TS]

00:40:03   Claus apparently ok far sandy close [TS]

00:40:07   yeah pretty dreadful but a great riff [TS]

00:40:10   raff great episode misstated a few [TS]

00:40:13   Christmas based episodes if it is as I [TS]

00:40:16   recall [TS]

00:40:16   well yes there was also the one cause [TS]

00:40:18   Santa Claus or satellites the devil yeah [TS]

00:40:20   i could say the versatile scratcher one [TS]

00:40:23   more gypsy gives Mike a sweater that [TS]

00:40:25   says join key on it started with sewing [TS]

00:40:29   it under the other no Jo ik yeah yeah [TS]

00:40:34   man what a great not actually the turkey [TS]

00:40:38   day streaming has made me want to go [TS]

00:40:41   back and watch more episodes again and [TS]

00:40:44   although i do have I think I think we [TS]

00:40:46   all may be admitted that I that we have [TS]

00:40:49   some VHS copies of likes literally [TS]

00:40:52   sticking tape on the turkey day marathon [TS]

00:40:54   press record walk away let the tape Phil [TS]

00:40:56   I definitely have those somewhere but I [TS]

00:40:59   don't even III and I have a VCR [TS]

00:41:01   somewhere I don't know where fortunately [TS]

00:41:03   amazon has episodes streaming so yeah [TS]

00:41:06   they have a lot [TS]

00:41:07   yeah netflix still has a couple yeah but [TS]

00:41:09   they're gone away [TS]

00:41:11   yeah there's a bunch on youtube of I [TS]

00:41:14   don't know [TS]

00:41:15   yeah if they're supposed to be there but [TS]

00:41:17   the right there like it said in the [TS]

00:41:18   credits keep circulating the tubes or [TS]

00:41:22   something like that [TS]

00:41:23   yeah well that that's why we [TS]

00:41:26   we kept watching after after they [TS]

00:41:27   finished the streaming the other day so [TS]

00:41:29   then we watched the day the earth rose [TS]

00:41:30   which is just on you after seeing the [TS]

00:41:33   ads for it all day by the 25th [TS]

00:41:34   anniversary set to get this hard to find [TS]

00:41:37   impossible to watch you know it's only [TS]

00:41:39   here we want to 10 minutes later sorry [TS]

00:41:42   yeah and then we just been watching all [TS]

00:41:44   weekend alright another round in the [TS]

00:43:45   for sponsoring the incomparable alright [TS]

00:43:48   time for the lightning round of [TS]

00:43:51   introductions the lightning round monte [TS]

00:43:54   give us another one [TS]

00:43:55   ah 30 rock season six leap day [TS]

00:43:59   essentially the premise here is that Liz [TS]

00:44:01   Lemon has been out of town every four [TS]

00:44:04   years so she never learned that [TS]

00:44:05   everybody else celebrate sleep day as a [TS]

00:44:08   full holiday yes and the best thing [TS]

00:44:11   about this episode is that you see clips [TS]

00:44:13   of a fictional movie called leap Dave [TS]

00:44:16   Williams which absolutely perfectly [TS]

00:44:18   stars Jim Carrey and andie macdowell [TS]

00:44:21   yeah and you see clips of jim carrey [TS]

00:44:25   turning into leap Dave William because [TS]

00:44:27   he has the same name and that movie is [TS]

00:44:30   everything that would exist if leap day [TS]

00:44:33   were an actual holiday instead of just a [TS]

00:44:35   quirk of the gregorian calendar that is [TS]

00:44:37   a great episode that is one of my very [TS]

00:44:39   favorite 30 rock episodes in fact [TS]

00:44:41   because it's so absurd and yet it goes [TS]

00:44:43   with that premise to the fullest extent [TS]

00:44:46   possible and at the very end you [TS]

00:44:48   actually see leap day William as he [TS]

00:44:50   gives heartfelt advice to someone [TS]

00:44:54   Tracy probably and then looks at the [TS]

00:44:57   camera and opens his pointy teeth and [TS]

00:44:59   lunges for the because the william is [TS]

00:45:03   the is the Santa Claus of lipa yes he [TS]

00:45:05   has gills and he gives out candy in [TS]

00:45:09   exchange for children's tears and he's [TS]

00:45:13   played by John column from northern [TS]

00:45:15   exposure [TS]

00:45:16   oh yes good point which was really weird [TS]

00:45:18   with it he played Marley in skinflint [TS]

00:45:24   mentally but what if it was actually Tom [TS]

00:45:30   T hall the great storyteller that's with [TS]

00:45:35   a great storyteller is all this time [TS]

00:45:37   turns out did you not out [TS]

00:45:38   turns out I didn't the great storyteller [TS]

00:45:41   go figure [TS]

00:45:42   he's good all right David what do you [TS]

00:45:44   have I've got the one twilight zone that [TS]

00:45:47   I watch every year at this time a night [TS]

00:45:49   of the meat I'll cross that one off my [TS]

00:45:51   list [TS]

00:45:52   good where r Kearney as an alcoholic [TS]

00:45:56   department store Santa whose is there [TS]

00:45:59   any other hide well seriously he's [TS]

00:46:04   killing time in a bar of course and he [TS]

00:46:07   comes across this sack in the alley [TS]

00:46:12   between the bar in the department store [TS]

00:46:14   and he read me I forget how exactly he [TS]

00:46:20   discovers that it's full of gifts and he [TS]

00:46:24   starts handing out gifts to all the [TS]

00:46:25   children that come in come up to him and [TS]

00:46:28   of course a policeman assumes that he [TS]

00:46:31   has stolen all of this from the [TS]

00:46:33   department store any calls in the the [TS]

00:46:35   former boss from the department store [TS]

00:46:37   and it turns out that anyone else who [TS]

00:46:40   reaches into this sack full of gifts [TS]

00:46:43   pulls out a tin can [TS]

00:46:45   there's nothing but tin cans only Art [TS]

00:46:47   Carney can pull out gifts and it's [TS]

00:46:48   always a gift doesn't like a cat emerged [TS]

00:46:50   from it at some point I can't well but [TS]

00:46:52   GI john fiedler who's who's the the the [TS]

00:46:55   boss from the department stores mr. [TS]

00:46:56   Peterson from bob newhart and piglet [TS]

00:46:59   from winnie the pooh and red jack from [TS]

00:47:00   Star Trek he reaches it and he's like [TS]

00:47:03   let me see this thing pulls out a cat [TS]

00:47:05   ass backwards and freaks out and the cat [TS]

00:47:09   didn't look too happy either [TS]

00:47:10   and you know finally he says yeah well I [TS]

00:47:13   you know fine if you can pull out [TS]

00:47:15   anything i want i want this specially [TS]

00:47:17   aged bottle of brandy and sure enough [TS]

00:47:20   people that a bottle of brandy and there [TS]

00:47:21   he goes and it's always the one gift [TS]

00:47:25   that each person wants most in the world [TS]

00:47:27   and at the very end and he's thinking [TS]

00:47:31   okay this is just weird and I'm drunk [TS]

00:47:33   you know I don't know what's going on [TS]

00:47:35   and it turns out that the one gift that [TS]

00:47:38   he always wanted was to be Santa Claus [TS]

00:47:40   and the bag you gave him that gift and [TS]

00:47:43   he flies away on a sleigh and it's it's [TS]

00:47:46   heartwarming in a way that the twilight [TS]

00:47:49   zone didn't always succeed and they [TS]

00:47:52   tried frequently but yeah they had a lot [TS]

00:47:54   really work out as well as it does in [TS]

00:47:56   this episode [TS]

00:47:57   yeah we made by the 1985 twilight zone [TS]

00:48:01   series with Richard Mulligan as [TS]

00:48:04   as Corwin the aircard apart and of [TS]

00:48:07   course the store owner William Atherton [TS]

00:48:10   you know I don't love me some Richard [TS]

00:48:12   Mulligan but at the same time I just I'm [TS]

00:48:14   not seeing it [TS]

00:48:15   I'm not seeing him as a substitute for [TS]

00:48:16   hard cardi it did not work but William [TS]

00:48:19   Atherton as the as the store owner that [TS]

00:48:22   is solid but he was yeah it is solid and [TS]

00:48:24   everything yes that episode was directed [TS]

00:48:27   by Martha Coolidge who directed real [TS]

00:48:28   genius directed william atherton in real [TS]

00:48:31   genius it all the time [TS]

00:48:33   genius doesn't it yeah alright night of [TS]

00:48:36   the meat that's a great one rod set is a [TS]

00:48:38   great one [TS]

00:48:38   I wish I'd thought of it yeah no see [TS]

00:48:42   you're supposed to say damn that was on [TS]

00:48:44   my list i was gonna give that one now I [TS]

00:48:46   don't know what I'm going to choose but [TS]

00:48:47   it's your turn so what do you have for [TS]

00:48:48   us you know it the relief that has that [TS]

00:48:51   just the great weight has been lifted [TS]

00:48:53   from my soul just talking about [TS]

00:48:55   skinflint colon a country girl [TS]

00:48:59   it's like everything just kind of rolls [TS]

00:49:01   off my back right now in fact I didn't [TS]

00:49:03   pick anything else you know that I [TS]

00:49:05   didn't prepare anything else besides [TS]

00:49:07   that I just don't even care [TS]

00:49:09   it's all good man you're putting a [TS]

00:49:11   really impressive about ever into [TS]

00:49:12   plugging this thing that nobody else [TS]

00:49:14   anyway of NRC it's true [TS]

00:49:18   that's the best part nobody can ever see [TS]

00:49:20   it I could I could make up i could say [TS]

00:49:22   there's like dragons in it or something [TS]

00:49:23   somewhere on the internet somebody's [TS]

00:49:26   like team did you hear about that that [TS]

00:49:28   country music holiday special where [TS]

00:49:30   there's dragons it's pretty sweet [TS]

00:49:32   yeah I tell my telescope his stutter the [TS]

00:49:33   dissolution of skinflint alright if I [TS]

00:49:35   must pick something [TS]

00:49:37   mmm December 1985 a month that will live [TS]

00:49:42   in infamy of the month the remake of [TS]

00:49:45   megami cared [TS]

00:49:46   well during that month something even [TS]

00:49:48   better aired on television not featuring [TS]

00:49:51   william atherton but featuring a far [TS]

00:49:54   more wonderful a character by the name [TS]

00:49:58   of Skeletor I'm speaking of course of [TS]

00:50:00   he-man and Shera colon a Christmas [TS]

00:50:04   special [TS]

00:50:05   Steve let's likes Colin's I gotta be [TS]

00:50:08   honest I've never actually seen this [TS]

00:50:12   good it didn't see it in 1985 I did not [TS]

00:50:16   see it when it was released on DVD and [TS]

00:50:18   to the state still have not watched [TS]

00:50:21   he-man and Shera a Christmas special [TS]

00:50:23   I really i never really got into the [TS]

00:50:25   cartoon as it happens but I love me some [TS]

00:50:28   Skeletor why is that Steve and I have a [TS]

00:50:31   feeling he makes an appearance [TS]

00:50:32   oh yes he does according to wikipedia he [TS]

00:50:34   does one can only hope he wears a santa [TS]

00:50:37   hat at some point over his purple he [TS]

00:50:40   sets off the entire plot i think really [TS]

00:50:43   imagine that [TS]

00:50:45   yeah it's always making trouble Skeletor [TS]

00:50:48   yeah I think Orko probably features [TS]

00:50:51   prominently to which is a bit sad but [TS]

00:50:52   you know Skeletor he can overcome [TS]

00:50:55   yeah Orko Skeletor can do it all he can [TS]

00:50:58   do Christmas specials is a [TS]

00:51:00   song-and-dance man really sees he's the [TS]

00:51:02   best [TS]

00:51:03   yeah and so I hereby pick a show that i [TS]

00:51:07   have never seen and probably will never [TS]

00:51:08   see he-man and Shera colon a christmas [TS]

00:51:12   special the vault [TS]

00:51:13   you know i recommend it because i [TS]

00:51:15   haven't seen it that's two colons you [TS]

00:51:17   put the Volt yeah it's true [TS]

00:51:20   uh I'm going to put well how can i [TS]

00:51:24   follow that choice we with practically [TS]

00:51:29   anything practically anything alright so [TS]

00:51:31   I every year since 2005 the BBC has done [TS]

00:51:36   a doctor who christmas special [TS]

00:51:38   they range from being well most of them [TS]

00:51:42   are only tangentially related to [TS]

00:51:43   Christmas like they'll say hey it's [TS]

00:51:45   Christmas [TS]

00:51:46   look over there an alien and then the [TS]

00:51:48   Christmas sort of falls away and it's [TS]

00:51:50   not important anymore because it's very [TS]

00:51:52   hard to come up with science fictional [TS]

00:51:54   premises that also legitimately involved [TS]

00:51:56   Christmas [TS]

00:51:57   well here i am on the Victorian set [TS]

00:51:59   again it must be Christmas must be [TS]

00:52:01   Christmas [TS]

00:52:02   oh and look there's Dickens yeah so so [TS]

00:52:05   here so here is the one that where I [TS]

00:52:07   think they nailed the Christmas the the [TS]

00:52:09   Christmas episode it was I am I think [TS]

00:52:13   Steven Moffat first christmas episode [TS]

00:52:15   it's called a christmas carol of course [TS]

00:52:17   and it uses the time-travel mechanics of [TS]

00:52:19   Doctor Who to cause the ghost of [TS]

00:52:23   christmas past present and future [TS]

00:52:26   to be manifestations involving time [TS]

00:52:29   travel around this very angry man played [TS]

00:52:32   by Michael Gambon in who does a great [TS]

00:52:34   job [TS]

00:52:35   who is he a very grumpy Scrooge like [TS]

00:52:38   fellow and uh and he is standing in the [TS]

00:52:42   way of the of of the doctor saving his [TS]

00:52:44   friends and the doctor has a moment [TS]

00:52:47   races [TS]

00:52:48   hey I know how i can solve this a [TS]

00:52:49   christmas carol i can do that and so [TS]

00:52:52   then so it's all-out me open i'm gonna [TS]

00:52:55   do this I'm going to use my time machine [TS]

00:52:56   to show you yourself in the past and the [TS]

00:52:59   present the future and so it's a very [TS]

00:53:02   fun jumping around between the different [TS]

00:53:06   timelines and the and the very best part [TS]

00:53:08   is when he brings a he brings the old [TS]

00:53:13   man's younger self and they come into [TS]

00:53:15   the and they come into contact with each [TS]

00:53:17   other and the old man says I know what [TS]

00:53:20   you're doing you're bringing me my you [TS]

00:53:22   know this is the ghost of christmas past [TS]

00:53:23   and you know you think I'm gonna change [TS]

00:53:26   my ways but it won't work and the doctor [TS]

00:53:29   says no I'm showing you to him so he'll [TS]

00:53:35   be horrified with what he becomes and [TS]

00:53:38   change his ways and many takes them back [TS]

00:53:39   to the timesheet great very great stuff [TS]

00:53:42   and so all the way I enjoy the doctor [TS]

00:53:44   Christmas specials for what they are [TS]

00:53:46   this one extra Christmassy extra good [TS]

00:53:49   and there's even a couple of funny star [TS]

00:53:51   trek jokes that are that are made in [TS]

00:53:54   passing complete with lens flares [TS]

00:53:56   actually so it's actually pretty pretty [TS]

00:53:59   funny so at goodwin is this the episode [TS]

00:54:02   with the cgi flying sharks it is yes it [TS]

00:54:05   is the right there are sharks and other [TS]

00:54:07   fish that that swim in the air and and [TS]

00:54:11   and they end up i think that the episode [TS]

00:54:14   ends with a flying shark hitched to a [TS]

00:54:16   carriage flying through the sky [TS]

00:54:18   mhm this was pre sharknado right just so [TS]

00:54:22   i know yet who pre sharknado wow these [TS]

00:54:24   are space sharks though the flying [TS]

00:54:26   station ok one expects them to fly [TS]

00:54:28   through the air [TS]

00:54:29   remember what the world was like before [TS]

00:54:30   sharknado that is all got visuals I [TS]

00:54:34   can't believe we didn't put your [TS]

00:54:35   Tomatoes sharknado should be in the [TS]

00:54:37   holiday ball even though it isn't [TS]

00:54:38   holiday-related and [TS]

00:54:39   hey I can't believe we missed it well [TS]

00:54:41   maybe sharknado 2 will be holiday-themed [TS]

00:54:43   maybe have to find out [TS]

00:54:44   yes flying sharks you're right Monty it [TS]

00:54:47   also in addition to time-travel it had [TS]

00:54:49   flying sharks and Anna subplot involving [TS]

00:54:51   a singer whose casts a character and she [TS]

00:54:54   has to sing to save the world in the end [TS]

00:54:56   and that wasn't as good but the stuff [TS]

00:54:57   with a michael gambon is really great [TS]

00:54:59   and there's a flying shark [TS]

00:55:00   so what more do you want michael gambon [TS]

00:55:03   flying sharks check check ya dun dun set [TS]

00:55:07   star trek jokes [TS]

00:55:08   yep oh wow thats just frosting at this [TS]

00:55:10   point it is before we get to the final [TS]

00:55:13   round one extra thing not a sponsor [TS]

00:55:17   instead it's a giveaway yes it's the [TS]

00:56:26   conducted an interesting array of things [TS]

00:56:28   in this vault this bulging of vault that [TS]

00:56:32   has now many many many different parts i [TS]

00:56:35   wanted to ask before we went if anybody [TS]

00:56:37   had any extras i know Steve doesn't i [TS]

00:56:40   cannot text know that you want to [TS]

00:56:41   mention that didn't make it in your in [TS]

00:56:43   euless but you'd like to give a [TS]

00:56:44   shout-out to this would be the time i do [TS]

00:56:47   in my haste to rush the rich little [TS]

00:56:51   Christmas [TS]

00:56:52   royal onto my you're getting that now I [TS]

00:56:55   unfortunately had to bump the episode of [TS]

00:56:57   The Muppet Show with Vincent Price like [TS]

00:57:00   Halloween show [TS]

00:57:01   yep yeah that's a good 1i I was thinking [TS]

00:57:05   four episodes of The West Wing and yeah [TS]

00:57:08   I've shift tonight or I i have shovel it [TS]

00:57:11   down my Thanksgiving one of the two [TS]

00:57:13   Yanks giving up assets of west wing is [TS]

00:57:15   it that you have one I was thinking of [TS]

00:57:18   the the dragnet christmas episode that [TS]

00:57:20   they they loved it so many so much they [TS]

00:57:23   did it like twice on the radio that it [TS]

00:57:25   like two or three times in the TV show [TS]

00:57:26   you where it's the the the local church [TS]

00:57:30   calls up Joe Friday and says are the [TS]

00:57:33   baby Jesus from our nativity is missing [TS]

00:57:34   and they they go all over the place [TS]

00:57:36   looking for thing and it turns out that [TS]

00:57:38   the little boy took the baby Jesus in [TS]

00:57:40   his red wagon to take him around the [TS]

00:57:43   town and show him around because he must [TS]

00:57:45   have really boring life just sitting [TS]

00:57:46   there in the church and it's you know [TS]

00:57:48   it's a heartwarming thing was like my [TS]

00:57:49   father's favorite Christmas thing when [TS]

00:57:51   he was a child so you know because they [TS]

00:57:53   kept showing it every year and there's [TS]

00:57:56   things there's an episode of nothing [TS]

00:57:58   sacred which is in pog in like skinflint [TS]

00:58:01   in the hospital done w anywhere yeah [TS]

00:58:04   which is a ah those other people [TS]

00:58:07   probably actually sad about that one [TS]

00:58:09   yeah well you know actually I don't know [TS]

00:58:12   if it's still there but the entire [TS]

00:58:14   series showed up on YouTube speaking of [TS]

00:58:16   copyright issues i managed to suck them [TS]

00:58:19   all down [TS]

00:58:20   I don't know if they're still there but [TS]

00:58:22   i got them before they vanished because [TS]

00:58:24   you know but it is a lovely episodes it [TS]

00:58:28   was a show set in the Catholic Church [TS]

00:58:30   and the priest on Christmas Eve opens up [TS]

00:58:33   the church is a sanctuary for this [TS]

00:58:35   family of refugees and he gets in [TS]

00:58:37   horrible trouble and gets arrested and [TS]

00:58:39   it sort of all the chaos that goes [TS]

00:58:41   horribly wrong by the priests doing the [TS]

00:58:43   right thing and so that was a lovely [TS]

00:58:45   episode [TS]

00:58:46   yeah I actually quite like Mickey's [TS]

00:58:49   Christmas Carol from 1983 mm oh yeah [TS]

00:58:52   which-which it was one of the records [TS]

00:58:56   that I had that I used to go to sleep [TS]

00:58:58   listening to and you know that that [TS]

00:59:03   tends to make one sentimental about [TS]

00:59:04   things [TS]

00:59:05   no but it's also [TS]

00:59:06   very entertaining telling of christmas [TS]

00:59:07   carol yeah it has some good shorts that [TS]

00:59:10   lead into it including a terrific one [TS]

00:59:12   where Donald and kiwi Dewey and Louie [TS]

00:59:15   you're having a snowball fight that I [TS]

00:59:17   think has some great gags in it that I [TS]

00:59:19   really enjoy speaking of of Christmas [TS]

00:59:22   carols and and one man versions of [TS]

00:59:24   Christmas carols the pet patrick stewart [TS]

00:59:27   who is no rich little shits [TS]

00:59:29   I would have made for an interesting [TS]

00:59:33   next generation episode [TS]

00:59:34   you haven't lived until you've heard [TS]

00:59:35   Patrick Stewart's ronald reagan [TS]

00:59:37   impression though man who [TS]

00:59:38   Oh uncanny now hehe did this is a stage [TS]

00:59:43   production for a couple years and then [TS]

00:59:46   they did an audiobook version of it and [TS]

00:59:48   it's it's patrick Star just doing the [TS]

00:59:50   entire text of a christmas carol it's [TS]

00:59:53   fantastic and then they DNT signed them [TS]

00:59:56   to do a movie version of it and I [TS]

00:59:58   thought that'd be great [TS]

00:59:58   thought that'd be great [TS]

01:00:00   and they just did a traditional movie [TS]

01:00:01   and it's you know it's fine [TS]

01:00:03   he's good but it's boring but if you can [TS]

01:00:06   find the audio version it's fantastic [TS]

01:00:08   and Patrick Stewart doing every role in [TS]

01:00:10   its I've never liked the original [TS]

01:00:13   Christmas Carol that's the first one I [TS]

01:00:15   ever like i'll mention to I i looked up [TS]

01:00:19   according to the internet the trouble [TS]

01:00:21   with tribbles was aired a couple days [TS]

01:00:23   after Christmas it was considered the [TS]

01:00:24   holiday gift to the TV viewing public by [TS]

01:00:29   the producers of Star Trek okay why not [TS]

01:00:32   and i wanted to mention the year without [TS]

01:00:35   a santa clause which is the rankin/bass [TS]

01:00:36   animated special featuring the heat [TS]

01:00:40   miser and me [TS]

01:00:41   mais old miser and I bring it up because [TS]

01:00:43   I remembered that years after I watched [TS]

01:00:46   it I could remember the song like [TS]

01:00:48   decades after before there was an [TS]

01:00:51   internet and before that became a retro [TS]

01:00:53   thing and they started to show it again [TS]

01:00:54   it's stuck in my mind now I watched [TS]

01:00:57   again and it's not very good so I'm glad [TS]

01:01:00   I didn't have to put it in the vault but [TS]

01:01:01   boy was it memorable [TS]

01:01:03   it was really memorable man he's mr. [TS]

01:01:05   heat blister he's mr. son he's mr. green [TS]

01:01:08   christmas we wouldn't want anything bad [TS]

01:01:10   in the precious holiday ball so we [TS]

01:01:12   wouldn't want something bad in the [TS]

01:01:13   holiday ball and that would be terrible [TS]

01:01:15   I you know I gotta I gotta give a [TS]

01:01:17   shout-out to the SNL episode that had [TS]

01:01:21   they're actually quite a few SNL episode [TS]

01:01:24   some good some good Christmas events in [TS]

01:01:26   some of those SE te to one that i wanted [TS]

01:01:30   to mention was the the bit where they [TS]

01:01:33   see how the ending of it's a wonderful [TS]

01:01:35   life played out post the actual ending [TS]

01:01:40   of it's a wonderful life in which all [TS]

01:01:41   the people who are gathered at George [TS]

01:01:43   Bailey's house then go down to the bank [TS]

01:01:45   and beat the snot out of mr. Potter tip [TS]

01:01:49   him out of his wheelchair and start [TS]

01:01:51   kicking away it's it's a great bits well [TS]

01:02:35   next year it's out of room well it's [TS]
