The Incomparable

85: Game Show

welcome to yet another episode of the [TS]

incomparable I am as always your host [TS]

like Friedman I'm going today by an [TS]

absolutely incredible and who we all in [TS]

firing the incomparable podcast number [TS]

85 april first twenty-twelve welcome to [TS]

the incomparable prime universe variety [TS]

episode 85 i'm your host as always [TS]

Jason smell and i'm joined today by two [TS]

teams of contestants who are going to [TS]

fight against each other to the death or [TS]

at least on a podcast to gain and to the [TS]

pain exactly in and something that we've [TS]

never done before that we like to call [TS]

what we call this the incomparable game [TS]

show as a way to celebrate the [TS]

ridiculousness of april fools day so [TS]

where did you ever come up with that [TS]

name being comfortable game show [TS]

I got it out of a vending machine I [TS]

thought the show was called train wreck [TS]

  in a coal mine [TS]

yeah a train wreck coming that's our [TS]

that's our our slogan for the [TS]

  uncomfortable game show [TS]

thank you train wreck a common I we have [TS]

split the six contestants into two teams [TS]

and then I realized they were they were [TS]

my contemporaries and people who are [TS]

roughly a decade younger than me so I've [TS]

made them team old men and team young [TS]

man so team old features Steve let's hi [TS]

  Steve ledge [TS]

who are you I've startled him he's the [TS]

old prospector a team old second member [TS]

  glen fleshman hi Glenn [TS]

good news everyone and also one team old [TS]

  men great moss [TS]

I've just soiled myself now let's move [TS]

to the younger and spryer people who are [TS]

in their thirties with pristine team [TS]

young dan more'n I damn this is totally [TS]

rad John siracusa I think it's insulting [TS]

that i'm not on the old man cranky and [TS]

what do I have to do [TS]

get on the old you know what we gotta [TS]

know what do you guys like it's have him [TS]

  okay [TS]

your old on the inside you're over me [TS]

and I know I think John makes the [TS]

mistake of thinking that there's dignity [TS]

on the old man team yeah haha clearly [TS]

not and also young man Scott melting [TS]

haha oh I think cracking this transcends [TS]

age it does we were all cranky old man [TS]

it's just that some of your younger [TS]

cranky old man for your shoulder crazy [TS]

as I think the youngest person on the [TS]

podcast I'm a cranky young man I sound [TS]

  old [TS]

yeah you do it's confusing i believe [TS]

that i believe the show is pretty [TS]

infected all the old men are sick or [TS]

suffering allergies justjust to notice [TS]

will be considered links with already [TS]

got the young men were just waiting for [TS]

  you to die [TS]

yeah you can take their spots on Team [TS]

old man have you kids and your death [TS]

panels i tell you so I here's how this [TS]

is gonna go uh I am going to ask a [TS]

series of questions and ask you to [TS]

perform a series of tasks in a several [TS]

rounds as many as nine perhaps if we [TS]

have the time and I will grant points [TS]

based on how you know I cheese and the [TS]

point train wreck coming and the points [TS]

are worthless and don't see anything and [TS]

I'll declare a winner at the end and to [TS]

the train wreck will then happen so [TS]

round one this week all random access [TS]

i'm going to ask each of you one [TS]

question you have to answer it yourself [TS]

there are two points for every right [TS]

answer and it begins with Greg Greg in [TS]

which and no googling no googling I'm [TS]

warning you now your immortal soul [TS]

google forfeit if you use ultimately [TS]

cause for expulsion and become the part [TS]

you can no you cannot bring it up Oh [TS]

things a young man's game McNulty might [TS]

go for being say I should be the old [TS]

man's to you going to go for through its [TS]

through Greg waste Greg in which star [TS]

wars movie does bib Fortuna appear there [TS]

  are [TS]

choose from plastics his empire isn't it [TS]

yeah we allowed to hack off because I'm [TS]

ready yeah its return of the jedi no [TS]

  points for you [TS]

Oh mom I mean shameful [TS]

yeah shameful scopic melting your [TS]

  question yes [TS]

ok name but this is way too easy for you [TS]

okay well named both Star Trek movies in [TS]

which the USS Enterprise is destroyed [TS]

Oh forgive me i ah what a star trek 3 [TS]

which is the search for spock and uh now [TS]

I'm drawing a blank enterprise is [TS]

destroyed in the now I can't even [TS]

  remember i'm joking [TS]

hello shot george's star trek five [TS]

perfect i'm sorry it's strictly [TS]

instructed generations and yeah you know [TS]

it p is no point in like Star Trek and [TS]

the enterprise and the enterprise be is [TS]

  also destroyed that's true [TS]

Wow Steve yes I've known both of the [TS]

last two questions so I'm guaranteed not [TS]

to shaggy from scooby-doo and Robin from [TS]

the superior voiced by the same person [TS]

  named him [TS]

this is so damn thats when I know his [TS]

top 40 host casey kasem correct [TS]

finally a right answer i'm slightly less [TS]

embarrassed for for all of you [TS]

Glenn yes name the first returning [TS]

villain / monster when doctor who was [TS]

revived seven years ago what was the [TS]

full returning villain to appear Lee the [TS]

Nestene consciousness in the form of [TS]

plastic people it controls remotely I [TS]

they they're commonly called the Autons [TS]

  but you're absolutely right [TS]

two points for Team old mo Dan Morgan my [TS]

  hip and Warren [TS]

how many original for kosovo novels have [TS]

  been published [TS]

I'm telling you I can i count you can [TS]

try to count but just don't look it up [TS]

no kick-out if you could do it out loud [TS]

that would be better without cat right [TS]

so we've got yards of honor [TS]

re ours is a podcast where is [TS]

apprenticed the board game that again de [TS]

they get a little murky recounting ethan [TS]

of athos do i get ruling on that uh yes [TS]

I ok ethernet those a mirror dance [TS]

  brother-in-arms komar a a civil campaign [TS]

diplomatic immunity cryo burn and i'm [TS]

pretty sure i forgot one in there but [TS]

i'll just say to the top now to say a [TS]

13-11 sorry na mother that's all the [TS]

time we've got folks good night but I [TS]

  counted [TS]

yeah johnson didn't want to i want the [TS]

judges i am the judge [TS]

I've ruled you guilty John siracusa [TS]

which movie was released first and you [TS]

can ask for a definition of that if you [TS]

would like to quibble release first [TS]

kiki's delivery service acquittal of [TS]

  course you would [TS]

kiki's delivery service or goodfellas [TS]

equivalent going to be in America or [TS]

Japan but it's not like I help you know [TS]

in the i would say originally released [TS]

broadly and theatrically I kiki's [TS]

delivery service correct two points for [TS]

Team young by one year not only 99 a 99 [TS]

you wouldn't think of those as [TS]

contemporaneous but they actually were [TS]

all right do i get extra points for [TS]

  knowing the years [TS]

let's said no you don't let's go to the [TS]

scores for 22 open well well it took but [TS]

  you don't don't don't don't do the movie [TS]

  online game [TS]

alright it's time for round two I call [TS]

this nerd dictionary and here's how it [TS]

  works [TS]

each team will announce a word each [TS]

player on a team will give you a [TS]

definition one of them is true the other [TS]

  two definitions are false [TS]

the other team needs to choose with [TS]

  again [TS]

is no peeking needs to needs to choose [TS]

which term is actually correct these are [TS]

sci-fi terms so team old what is your [TS]

  word [TS]

our word is park mara pokémon are all [TS]

right who would like to go first in [TS]

defining pokémon I'm ready go for a [TS]

client since I lens it out all right you [TS]

should do it so you know every character [TS]

has to have something they shot when [TS]

going into battle for Worf it's nick got [TS]

blocked all ancient Athenians shouted I [TS]

looked this up 10 and the remote cream [TS]

on race in the Star Wars novels not the [TS]

movies wooden chief there two blades one [TS]

short and one long and cry pokémon ah [TS]

  excellent excellent [TS]

Steve how about you I I 2 i'm gonna go [TS]

with a a star trek term epoch mara our [TS]

races of aliens from from the star trek [TS]

universe specifically Babylon 5 who I [TS]

have one is not human our interactive [TS]

  get your story straight [TS]

it's in space not just pick one no [TS]

Babylon 5 it's another space show i [TS]

wonder if there's also greg said star [TS]

wars so you've completed all science [TS]

fiction that's indeed your movies into [TS]

one big okay go ahead one of the pack [TS]

whether the hawk wait seriously Babylon [TS]

5 is not a starter is starting your face [TS]

not really even how are you even on this [TS]

part that's a good question [TS]

it's a fair point alright fine there an [TS]

alien race from Babylon 5 marar uh who [TS]

are basically humanoids a button instead [TS]

of a regular human like head they have a [TS]

  baby [TS]

cthulhu attached to their next and they [TS]

eat they eat carrion preferably stuff [TS]

has been sitting around for a while [TS]

although they avoid ocean fish for some [TS]

  reason [TS]

which is weird with their heads being [TS]

basically like squids that we're all [TS]

about my god anti-capitalism thing [TS]

well and they look like seafood so maybe [TS]

thats that's the thing right arm and and [TS]

they have a very unique and in somewhat [TS]

heinous mechanism for food digestion and [TS]

expulsion so they get their own their [TS]

own bathroom facilities include Babylon [TS]

excellent excellent Greg what about you [TS]

what's your definition for pokémon ah [TS]

in in the novel dune among the flora and [TS]

fauna of Arrakis just as that mouth did [TS]

was chosen as the name of the Paul it [TS]

was a small desert mouse among the other [TS]

species listed on the planet that he [TS]

could have chosen from and that that [TS]

  particular characteristics was the [TS]

pokémon ah and he didn't he didn't [TS]

choose that we know what kind of animal [TS]

it was it's you know small desert mouse [TS]

  mouse [TS]

ok so day a rodent type some sort of you [TS]

  know tail whiskers [TS]

alright little classy black eyes Paul [TS]

did show you ginormous fangs chosen [TS]

didn't night little stillsuit on them [TS]

got it alright I team young which of our [TS]

which of our old men is telling the [TS]

truth about pokémon ah I'm we need to I [TS]

don't know you like lies to me [TS]

team old understand you also like a girl [TS]

especially Steve so we should pick is [TS]

  yes clearly [TS]

oh the double bluff does anyone actually [TS]

know what it is I do [TS]

yeah I I today and they do thank you for [TS]

the hood we know what it is um no I [TS]

  don't know what I i don't think i don't [TS]

  think it's great but I that's that's [TS]

kind of my feelings don't matter but i'm [TS]

not i'm not sure exactly what Glenn's I [TS]

vote for Glenn as the real one [TS]

what's your vote Tom got which one which [TS]

was gone again forgotten the first one [TS]

it's a battle court ride or walk about [TS]

you just really enjoy saying that don't [TS]

usually does to the moon a perverse part [TS]

of me still wants to go with Steve's but [TS]

  I [TS]

I will defer to be others member of the [TS]

  young man's t.o.o that's a mistake about [TS]

your heart no we gotta reach an all-new [TS]

  get you started [TS]

you're the tiebreaker here oh this is [TS]

not a good well rather time for school [TS]

haha i will I think maybe uh I will go [TS]

with Steve as well you know you went [TS]

with steeper the only run the other way [TS]

with Glenn I'm very good wet now [TS]

not that it's not time yet young men [TS]

young men what is your what do you think [TS]

I I'm glad you're gonna switch to Steve [TS]

and the question you're gonna go with [TS]

the original gut instinct and go Steve [TS]

and then we'll be you and Scott voting [TS]

for Steve that's how I will go with i'm [TS]

going to receive I'm going Steve I like [TS]

it arnstein of it that's our final [TS]

  answer [TS]

and although Babylon 5 is not part of [TS]

the star trek universe Tupac marar [TS]

indeed carrion-eaters on Babylon at work [TS]

  yes that's good [TS]

thailand as the oldest I'm guiding you [TS]

I'm guiding the younger members of the [TS]

  team [TS]

bye-bye away sway process is sending [TS]

them away so I five points for the young [TS]

team on that one and for guessing it [TS]

properly and i'm going to give a two [TS]

bonus points to the old men for [TS]

thoroughly confusing the young men with [TS]

their lives and especially that's really [TS]

first and for being said what r you [TS]

gonna get the bonus points we figure it [TS]

out we got a right well get confused as [TS]

well your your your portrayal of your [TS]

lives gives you bonus points so that you [TS]

will now get the chance to get them to [TS]

but Steve get those points for for [TS]

telling the truth so ineffectively uh [TS]

yes right of course I knew that Star [TS]

Trek in Babylon 5 or totally unrelated [TS]

  entities that [TS]

some sort of memory yes ok so team young [TS]

it is your turn what is your word are [TS]

worried you should call in somebody so [TS]

we don't i'll get away by I i will call [TS]

in somebody but so Scott what is your [TS]

  word it is [TS]

  camera camera yeah right [TS]

and who would like to go first can you [TS]

use it in a sentence I can use a sense [TS]

and it's going to go first all right [TS]

before we start what's the definition [TS]

haha you guys were just having like one [TS]

direction reg camera is a noun [TS]

it's a small lizard creature that lives [TS]

on the planet of bokra and the star wars [TS]

novel the truth before or to use it in a [TS]

sentence throw another camera on the [TS]

  barbie [TS]

alright wow you would like to go next [TS]

time i think is going on I just had this [TS]

awful realization that Jason is Peter [TS]

sagal in this situation yes it's true i [TS]

  will go next [TS]

so we even camera is actually from one [TS]

of the the seminal works of science [TS]

fiction Ursula K Le Guin's the light [TS]

hand the left hand of darkness excuse me [TS]

and it's actually refers to in the novel [TS]

as i'm sure you all know there are three [TS]

genders one is androgynous and they [TS]

enter into to make they enter into some [TS]

form of heat and this heat much like the [TS]

Vulcan pon farr is called camera [TS]

alright and John's alright a comer is [TS]

actually the name of these alchemists [TS]

type characters and a channel be a [TS]

little short story that i have never [TS]

read and the only reason I know this [TS]

definition is because jason said that [TS]

  the story's called details [TS]

it's some kind of Lovecraft type story [TS]

about people like dabbling in the dark [TS]

arts with potions and stuff and [TS]

discovering like things lurking in the [TS]

cracks of the world i have tried to read [TS]

many China Mieville books and have not [TS]

made it through any of them so I sure [TS]

i'm sure i would not like the short [TS]

story either way to cover it up John [TS]

alright hold early rejection so team old [TS]

men do you have a choice about which one [TS]

of these is the true definition of [TS]

camera i think series rail [TS]

too hard for mr. around here i'm leaning [TS]

towards right without going into his [TS]

arguments but yea years ago I did too [TS]

and it sounds I thought when I first [TS]

heard the word I was thinking it was [TS]

from something i read long ago and I've [TS]

read naval recently and it doesn't ring [TS]

any bells so i'm i'm leaning left Steve [TS]

I'm voting like win too [TS]

ok we have consent alright now we're [TS]

going for the win I'll go with the [TS]

superior nerds sorry and in fact you are [TS]

correct it is from rehearsal kayla quinn [TS]

look at this both of you can actually [TS]

will actually read the book that's [TS]

unfair and yeah almost did 25 years ago [TS]

and i'm gonna give a bonus points to [TS]

John siracusa for for making it seem [TS]

like he couldn't be bothered to lie but [TS]

that was the longest gonna actually was [TS]

that would only really except for the [TS]

name and really everything that China [TS]

miracle story the fact that i can't read [TS]

his stuff the fact that sounds to me [TS]

like something from one of his books [TS]

that I don't like and yeah you can sit [TS]

with some kind of underwater creature [TS]

that no longer exists i would have [TS]

bought it but not alchemists alright uh [TS]

my canvas cameras come on this is around [TS]

3 now we are moving around three it's [TS]

called which universe are you from i'm [TS]

going to name some aliens you will need [TS]

to tell me where they're from your [TS]

choice check babylon five choices are [TS]

your choices are marvel comics I don't [TS]

  know [TS]

doctor-who or assigned novel was the [TS]

only choices because I must surely the [TS]

novel those any sci-fi novel so about [TS]

novelizations of doctor who and here's [TS]

how we're gonna go I'm gonna call today [TS]

I was going to say i'm going to [TS]

alternate between old and young so is [TS]

we're gonna start with team young scroll [TS]

Marvel I got nothing points8 excellent [TS]

  where is it [TS]

yeah we as appears by person or by teams [TS]

are and well no you can't nobody has [TS]

shown that somebody's gotta shout out [TS]

and and and Scott shouted Marvel when [TS]

he's getting Scott's right and we confer [TS]

with am right it's a huge Fantastic Four [TS]

and ok you think you can confirm if you [TS]

want to confirm i received just confer [TS]

quietly so it's not misinterpreted as a [TS]

  shout team old ok [TS]

k leds or colleagues if you would like [TS]

so we have Marvel Doctor Who or I think [TS]

  it's a guy thing it's sci-fi novel what [TS]

do you think that's where I'm that's [TS]

Riley didn't find out sci-fi novel level [TS]

the K legs of course if you reassemble [TS]

the letters of the Daleks their dialects [TS]

all the grace of the Daleks [TS]

Oh doctor sucks to be old haha young and [TS]

team of the ways that matter LOL team [TS]

young dire Wraith what is the last word [TS]

their dire buying rate 3w wherever you [TS]

are i th yes every word of mouth sounds [TS]

like it comes from a comic book dire [TS]

  regulate that's I feel like that's I [TS]

think that's my final and I think so too [TS]

  did a great job [TS]

alright so finding and the diaries are [TS]

the shape-shifting race of aliens fought [TS]

by rom space night in the Marvel comic [TS]

  of the same name [TS]

shame on you shame on all of you team up [TS]

to mold and professional race and D&D [TS]

which haven't had many not knowing any [TS]

of this was making me feel really good [TS]

  about myself [TS]

dnd was not an option yeah Team hold [TS]

because NT because the night sort of a [TS]

sci-fi novel is that your final answer [TS]

cannot die novel so he's confident has [TS]

shouted out is good because ntr the are [TS]

the cat like alien race a popularized by [TS]

larry niven a series of books including [TS]

was gonna say Ringworld and i've ever [TS]

read it holds what do you know it's not [TS]

just read it i did and i forgot that [TS]

that wasn't my weed and maybe you should [TS]

be on tmobile you it can't remember is [TS]

Scott's book amnesia is kicking it a [TS]

team young the Shrike well that's [TS]

totally side Rhine oppel does not know [TS]

  that's a dance Simmons I [TS]

which I can't remember the name of the [TS]

book but it's totally agree and i do [TS]

  have period here [TS]

yes correct correct very good Scott to [TS]

paw and we are wrapping up with team old [TS]

with our last universe question team [TS]

old-fashioned Narada Oh doctor who [TS]

doctor who doctor who everybody agree [TS]

  with me [TS]

I agree that plan right correct dr.move [TS]

Ashton nerado I disagree when there's a [TS]

sunbeam and you see stuff floating in it [TS]

those are murderous alien creatures that [TS]

will eat you or a chicken like I had [TS]

questioned nerado once but penicillin [TS]

clear it right up now saying alright [TS]

this course you'll find a lot of the [TS]

Lord Oakeshott because any younger [TS]

either sing ever saving you know that's [TS]

librarything on the downswing and now [TS]

  big I i yes [TS]

moving on the score is 15 points for the [TS]

old men and 12 points for the young men [TS]

  all right [TS]

oh we know it around for we call this [TS]

debate club somebody do it we're going [TS]

to two rounds of debate club and the way [TS]

this works is I'm going to make a [TS]

  statement [TS]

somebody will have to take the pro [TS]

argument somebody will have to take the [TS]

Conn argument you have to do this on the [TS]

drop of the hat you just have to pick [TS]

and you have to go there are going to be [TS]

two separate arguments so each side will [TS]

get to select pro or con of one of them [TS]

you so you'll get the choice and one and [TS]

you'll have to take the alternate view [TS]

and the other so they'll be an initial [TS]

debate statement and then a rebuttal and [TS]

that's it ready for into understandable [TS]

doing that whole team's you guys all [TS]

have to just kind of pile on tmobile [TS]

then you get to choose procon on this [TS]

  statement in a fight [TS]

neo from the matrix would totally wipe [TS]

out Superman would you like pro or con a [TS]

  con don't you guys [TS]

well it depends on which reality they're [TS]

fighting in what has this could be part [TS]

of your argument but yea yea RT but we [TS]

do skon which is called having it's [TS]

kinda like a young men prepare your [TS]

argument for neo wiping out Superman the [TS]

old men are going to argue back on that [TS]

site that this is not true [TS]

and your time begins now what it comes [TS]

down to is what the real world is what [TS]

the physical world is and well Neil can [TS]

control anything inside the computer [TS]

once he gets out of the computer he's [TS]

just a man he could be torn to pieces by [TS]

Superman yeah and you know superman's [TS]

proven his ability across every reality [TS]

every size you can shrink to microscopic [TS]

size he could be bigger than entire [TS]

universes he can come back from the dead [TS]

he can restore multiverses he was just a [TS]

guy who's got some computer code that he [TS]

can manipulate i'm not really that [TS]

impressed with me oh I don't think a [TS]

Kryptonian would have any problem [TS]

adapting to that there is no spoon [TS]

philosophy of the matrix he could easily [TS]

outpaced neo and in understanding the [TS]

reality inside the computer if he [TS]

happened to be stuck there simply exit [TS]

himself from the computer and then and [TS]

then turn neo into soup it's true we all [TS]

  know Kryptonian cells supercomputers [TS]

that far outweigh he could always bring [TS]

in tag team with Brainiac you know get [TS]

some Kryptonian back up there and if [TS]

things go really right well Superman the [TS]

last minute he'll use his super speed [TS]

and turn the earth backwards and go back [TS]

in time and try it again [TS]

neo even in the computer you know learns [TS]

kung foo stops a couple of bullets I'm [TS]

pretending that the second and third [TS]

movies didn't exist answer is nothing [TS]

particularly impressive that he does [TS]

Superman kicks his ass every which way [TS]

tmw have 90 seconds to rebut your time [TS]

begin I've got this one covered your [TS]

  time begins now [TS]

oh alright as everyone knows in the [TS]

matrix the humans in an attempt to fight [TS]

the robots black out the sun to prevent [TS]

the robots from using solar power [TS]

without the Sun Superman does not have [TS]

his powers because we all know he [TS]

derives his powers from the yellow sign [TS]

of our third unlike the red side of [TS]

Krypton over the hell it is so with no [TS]

power as we all know that Superman is a [TS]

wimp and gets beat up by losers in bars [TS]

so even if you're in the real world [TS]

where the the robots ruling the humans [TS]

are in little pod Superman will get his [TS]

butt kicked by counter reefs let's add [TS]

this is a metaphysical question where [TS]

what if our reality is in fact the [TS]

reality inside the matrix in which case [TS]

neo can just rewrite the entire fabric [TS]

of it and make it so that Superman [TS]

comics never even existed in Superman [TS]

  would be [TS]

rendered inert yeah you real world not [TS]

real world the real world is the matrix [TS]

no matter what new ones all right if so [TS]

if so facto excellent work [TS]

I and i'm going to award that 12 team [TS]

young gonna get the Cirque using yeah [TS]

that the the Yellow Sun woo yeah that's [TS]

impressive and no fair that he speaks in [TS]

  paragraphs [TS]

yeah well now you'll have your chance [TS]

team young you get to choose pro or con [TS]

for this and then you've got 90 seconds [TS]

but if I have to choose an apocalypse [TS]

I choose zombies over aliens oh I i [TS]

think we go over your nose and Rozonda [TS]

yeah okay your time begins now [TS]

well i think john has already proved in [TS]

a previous podcast that he is well [TS]

prepared for the apocalypse and zombies [TS]

are a known quantity we know immediately [TS]

what will deal with him you shoot him in [TS]

the head they go down shotguns cricket [TS]

  bats [TS]

that's all you really need fire if you [TS]

really feel like it you can armor up [TS]

your house aliens me you don't know [TS]

what's coming like a lot of yours [TS]

yeah and I locking I mean his armies are [TS]

like realize plus they're slow [TS]

I mean true intentions have like six [TS]

  lanes and transporting stuff [TS]

zombies don't enslave anyone I'd rather [TS]

be a dead zombie then an alien sex slave [TS]

yeah anal probing and probing from [TS]

zombies sentence cleaner you get that [TS]

number and that's there that's the brand [TS]

promise it's glenn you're not help it [TS]

that's how convincing argument is [TS]

already miss them we've already won [TS]

that's amazing alright I just like the [TS]

statement team old you need to argue [TS]

alien apocalypse overs on this eclipse [TS]

your argument against now the aliens are [TS]

easy sneeze on them the entire race dies [TS]

of smallpox or chicken box of the common [TS]

cold you uploaded mcintosh fiber and 12k [TS]

program and it shuts down their main [TS]

core and crashes all their ships you [TS]

look at them funny and they run back to [TS]

Alpha Centauri to kiss their [TS]

  seven-legged mommy [TS]

aliens are wimps aliens went to always [TS]

beat them we always have a solution [TS]

zombies they just keep coming their arms [TS]

legs he coming you hack them up and they [TS]

come and then you become a zombie you [TS]

can become an alien well alright maybe a [TS]

couple movies which that happens but [TS]

it's an outlier or any other arguments [TS]

to mold the alien zombie apocalypse [TS]

never ends there's no way to undo it at [TS]

once the zombie apocalypse starts it [TS]

runs forever it best you can contain it [TS]

aliens can be defeated they can to have [TS]

you can turn their own technology [TS]

  against them [TS]

you can use that technology in ways that [TS]

benefit mankind once the alien minutes [TS]

has been removed far away you want to [TS]

choose the alien apocalypse because you [TS]

can own it you can reverse it and you [TS]

can take control of it [TS]

nothing doing with zombies I get well [TS]

aliens can be reasoned with so it's [TS]

possible that you might be able to [TS]

eventually convince the aliens to come [TS]

over to your side and and/or you have a [TS]

truce exactly but with zombies there's [TS]

there's no way they don't learn they [TS]

don't talk eventually going to run out [TS]

of bullets in and you're done [TS]

alright that was excellent that was very [TS]

close i am going to award a narrow [TS]

victory tootsie mold on that one [TS]

my mind I think the fact that because I [TS]

was not only i love them you can wipe [TS]

out zombies it's like smallpox is kill [TS]

them all it was a powerpoint they don't [TS]

  worry difficult [TS]

let's move on to round five round five [TS]

is called composer plot you have been [TS]

given in advance i should say three [TS]

characters and told to concoct a plot [TS]

involving those three characters i will [TS]

judge you against your opposition after [TS]

you give your plots who which team well [TS]

let's see team younger behind what by [TS]

one point would you like to go first or [TS]

would you like to wait to see what team [TS]

  old has in store [TS]

I i said we go second you guys think [TS]

yeah sounds good alrighty mold please [TS]

tell us what three characters you [TS]

  inherited all we got [TS]

Bullwinkle J moose of course from the [TS]

the star trek universe that's Flash [TS]

Gordon and from the star trek yet [TS]

yes from Star Trek universal Star Trek [TS]

characters you got and inhale 9000 from [TS]

  supernatural [TS]

so so later on I want to do what is [TS]

alright well we've we've put together a [TS]

a little TV spot for you two to better [TS]

bring home the various complex elements [TS]

of our plot and so I present to you the [TS]

team old players between everyone's [TS]

favorite homicidal computer is back and [TS]

this time he's on a rocket ride to [TS]

Planet hilarity i'm back Dave when a [TS]

derelict spaceship that went missing [TS]

over 400 years ago lands in a field [TS]

outside future frostbite falls minnesota [TS]

nASA has just the guy for the job [TS]

Bullwinkle J moose onboard systems [TS]

  analyst at your service [TS]

  there's just one problem [TS]

why do you talk that way all I smoked a [TS]

lot of weed that explains it [TS]

hey rocky watch people a dime bag out of [TS]

  my hat [TS]

  well maybe two problems [TS]

well it's Flash Gordon you dealer told [TS]

me I could find you here dude [TS]

well this thing's moving man now they're [TS]

hurtling through the stars on a very [TS]

  special mission [TS]

I want you to help me find my soulmate a [TS]

sweet day I with nice peripherals who [TS]

will never ever hide anything from me [TS]

basically anything with a female [TS]

interface port pretty much and they're [TS]

going to search the very farthest [TS]

  reaches of space [TS]

well I swear I just saw this huge dude [TS]

wings in a viking helmet by flying [TS]

squirrel friends that's proposed the [TS]

proper posture be that it's absurd [TS]

hey I'll put on some Queen if they can [TS]

  survive the trip [TS]

well if I didn't know any better I'd say [TS]

you were trying to kill me [TS]

you're being paranoid moose very bull [TS]

what are you doing out on the wing man [TS]

and what's with that crazy star baby [TS]

  there there's a Bigfoot [TS]

it is following us man just ignore him [TS]

see the film gene Shalit has called this [TS]

year's best buddy comedy about a [TS]

  psychotic spaceship featuring a [TS]

perpetually stone talking cartoon moose [TS]

tristar pictures presents 2420 a space [TS]

cake odyssey open the Hydra p pop up in [TS]

the hydroponic very doral I'm sorry most [TS]

I'm afraid I can't let you smoke that [TS]

coming soon to try star DVD and blu-ray [TS]

wow thank you that Hank that has the [TS]

length of a Steve let's pan epic now the [TS]

luminous i believe is the word I i think [TS]

and i am going to i'm going to grant you [TS]

a bonus point just for making a Cheech [TS]

and Chong movie out of Bullwinkle i'll [TS]

even before the judging that's a bonus [TS]

  point for you [TS]

alright moving on a team young can you [TS]

tell us three characters you've had to [TS]

concoct a plot for yes are three [TS]

characters are diehards John McLean Star [TS]

Trek's mr. Spock and of course the only [TS]

logical companion for those two guards [TS]

from wayne's world excellent party like [TS]

all young people we defend ourselves in [TS]

adequately prepared to turn in our [TS]

homework once we see what people thought [TS]

we were all supposed to individually do [TS]

our own plot so we have 3 plus while you [TS]

were going to make it up in volume [TS]

that's fine that's right so we are its [TS]

volume / still be shorter quality [TS]

yeah it will be minimal and probably [TS]

true but but no voices so I would not [TS]

like to go first so who would like to go [TS]

  first [TS]

Scotty your first that I i will go first [TS]

now first I have to to give you my quick [TS]

summary pitch think Downton Abbey Meets [TS]

The Hunger Games and i think i've [TS]

already won with that concept so right [TS]

now actually I think I should just stop [TS]

right now but i'll continue so here's a [TS]

little synopsis of the plot here when [TS]

you receive an invitation to Al Gore [TS]

  park [TS]

you can't decline constable john mcclane [TS]

of the double McLain arrives at the [TS]

manor house feeling out of his [TS]

f mr. Spock respected scientist is p2 [TS]

have to leave his research behind Spock [TS]

McLain are in the crowded main hall the [TS]

grand old house and in walks Lord Algar [TS]

Garth to his friends he explains that [TS]

each participant represents his class in [TS]

the upcoming games which are compact [TS]

complicated progression of deadly parlor [TS]

games waltzing through a minefield [TS]

poisoned high tea and so on [TS]

one by one the other contestants die [TS]

until two or less standing McClain and [TS]

Spock guards final test is one you'll [TS]

have to see to believe [TS]

  okay excellent [TS]

alright i'll follow that up with number [TS]

two it's Christmas 1992 and John McClane [TS]

driving cross-country from Los Angeles [TS]

to New York finds himself snowed in in [TS]

the little town of Aurora Illinois in [TS]

the sky appears a quantum singularity [TS]

and when the dust clears mr. Spock is [TS]

materialized in the car with McLean [TS]

Maclean's works and surprise hitting a [TS]

nearby hitchhiker Garth Algar the [TS]

  singularity manifests its own [TS]

consciousness claiming that it is taken [TS]

from their most dearly beloved friends [TS]

James Kirk al Powell and Wayne Campbell [TS]

the three must team up to recover their [TS]

loved ones and discover the true meaning [TS]

of Christmas find out this holiday [TS]

season in no stairway okay and so I'm [TS]

here we go to a cornfield allen and and [TS]

  Johnson you're up [TS]

very nice i really want to try to get [TS]

these guys into the some sort of firefly [TS]

plot but i could not do it so i had to [TS]

go with my second truck here we go in [TS]

the far future wars are fought primarily [TS]

  with remote-controlled weapons and [TS]

warships garth from wayne's world is a [TS]

camera or a child raised from birth [TS]

development is the best camera anyone [TS]

  has ever seen [TS]

america's war effort i called parking [TS]

garage siracusa America's war effort [TS]

hinges on Garth skills Garth is our [TS]

skill so his daring escape from the [TS]

cafetorium is a major problem for the [TS]

Department of Defense as the head of an [TS]

elite Special Forces team is John [TS]

McClane's job to track down Garth and [TS]

return him to his control pod but why [TS]

did guardedly the cafetorium in the [TS]

first place mr. Spock the head of the [TS]

camera training facility seems a bit too [TS]

eager to get Garth back [TS]

what dark secret is he hiding when [TS]

McLain finds Garth will return him to [TS]

the government or grass revelations [TS]

convince mcclain to turn against the [TS]

country he has sworn to serve summer [TS]

okay i'm gonna give you I'm gonna work [TS]

you guys 3 points4 volume there that was [TS]

excellent and that makes the score is [TS]

young team 1914-18 we did you even a [TS]

sinus points besides that bonus point [TS]

yeah that was it that was all you got [TS]

they would have that's what you try too [TS]

hard I mean I want the audience they [TS]

made it up no robbery or even if you [TS]

  clarified instructions [TS]

yeah i think i will just increase your [TS]

score further ya think the point is [TS]

reviews wins and every time actually if [TS]

you're if you're old if the team old [TS]

skin had been shorter it might have [TS]

actually got more points but anyway [TS]

we're going to want to use that the four [TS]

hours consult a doctor yes we're going [TS]

to go move on through around six which i [TS]

like to call parallel universe game show [TS]

now here's something you may not know [TS]

about the incomparable it's that we are [TS]

one podcast in a multiverse of [TS]

incomparable podcast in fact this [TS]

podcast exists across the spectrum of [TS]

multiverses and it just so happens that [TS]

today i received an mp3 file that was [TS]

sent to me from a panelist who who was [TS]

not on a podcast with me and i was very [TS]

confused and I played it and it turns [TS]

out it's it fell through a wormhole from [TS]

a parallel universe it's a session of [TS]

the incomparable April Fool's Day game [TS]

show that we didn't record so i was very [TS]

  confused by that [TS]

instead it featured Tony sindelar dan [TS]

Frakes ben boychuk serenity Caldwell and [TS]

your and your host Lex Friedman very [TS]

  confusing [TS]

I don't know really where it's William [TS]

however since we happen to have access [TS]

to the parallel universe and they were [TS]

  doing a game show [TS]

I thought we would use that information [TS]

to play a game of our own so here it is [TS]

they were asked a series of difficult [TS]

questions either or questions each of [TS]

the the panelists your jobs are going to [TS]

  be too [TS]

guess what their answer was a team old [TS]

serenity Caldwell was asked the empire [TS]

strikes back or raiders of the lost ark [TS]

what do you think she said oh how [TS]

closely with the choices are and i'm [TS]

very very clear about an hour different [TS]

because you have not already using [TS]

Empire she said Pig that bad want that [TS]

alternate universe ran is just as wrong [TS]

as this one if if it was Rockets here it [TS]

was Rocketeer an empire strikes back i [TS]

could get that but i think i'll go with [TS]

Empire also i'm pretty sure where you're [TS]

going with Empire yeah I'm with my dudes [TS]

this is a cruel cruel decision you know [TS]

as much as I love Raiders and I do love [TS]

it dearly i think my first my my heart [TS]

will have to go to the empire strikes [TS]

back because on solo growing up was [TS]

always more by Harrison Ford then nnd so [TS]

if you had to pick one Harrison Ford it [TS]

would be hard soul / indie it would be [TS]

Han Solo yes I mean he has the ship ship [TS]

beats the hat shipped with the hat and [TS]

no snakes correct two points to be old [TS]

to choose Empire alrighty young team [TS]

Tony sindelar was asked watch men or the [TS]

dark knight returns own i would assume [TS]

the dark knight returns but i don't it [TS]

is he loves he loves Batman he loves [TS]

Batman a lot they're going to go in and [TS]

dance a good friend Tony so you think [TS]

  you know [TS]

  yeah I you think I nobody it's it's a [TS]

  little tough with Riggs [TS]

yeah well because he also most watchman [TS]

but i don't have to go with his love [TS]

Batman the Batman is you know he holds a [TS]

special place in my heart the place in [TS]

my heart where people get pummeled a lot [TS]

from that sounds very big watchman is [TS]

just such a seminal series both in [TS]

comics but also kind of to me commander [TS]

watchman was the the collection that [TS]

kind of got me back into comics when i [TS]

started reading comics again in the [TS]

twenties that um I have to go with [TS]

watchman but i do love Batman pretty [TS]

much more than you know anyone should [TS]

love Batman and certainly more than any [TS]

  other [TS]

our hero i'm gonna go with watchman yeah [TS]

he chose watch men so y'all can i yeah [TS]

what kind of friend are you know me [TS]

uh the brakes with any mold to mold damn [TS]

freaks was asked blade runner or alien [TS]

  mm Wow [TS]

yeah i'm i think Dan is more of a blade [TS]

when I think of him as more cerebral [TS]

then cuts so then I don't remember Dan [TS]

piping in back in the day when we were [TS]

trying to gather interest for a horror [TS]

themed podcast so I'm gonna go a little [TS]

blade runner to head not guts if you had [TS]

said blade runner vs aliens with the [TS]

right i think the answer would be easy [TS]

I you know those are both clearly sci-fi [TS]

action movies you know set in the future [TS]

and Blade Runner is clearly the better [TS]

movie there but ill en is it's just as [TS]

much a sci-fi horror and suspense movie [TS]

as it is an action flick and so you know [TS]

in a lot of ways they're a lot less [TS]

comfortable than if you said aliens [TS]

that's the name of our children [TS]

incomparable yeah i know the blade the [TS]

blade runner's the critics choice you [TS]

know it's been far more influential and [TS]

I've long been a fan of watched it [TS]

god I don't know how many times but I'm [TS]

gonna go against geek movie convention [TS]

here and i'm going to say alien no no s [TS]

is a better overall movie i can hear [TS]

people screaming all right well you all [TS]

right Dan Frakes wow alright uh then [TS]

Boychuk team young ben boychuk was asked [TS]

Frank Miller or alan moore everyone [TS]

hates Frank Miller's got to be a lot [TS]

  more [TS]

ya gotta wait on this is ben allen more [TS]

and though so that's the little the [TS]

tourney hates everything is a quality [TS]

pic yeah Frank Miller's office but you [TS]

gotta look at the whole body of work [TS]

when you're asking that question you [TS]

asked the question but you know is it [TS]

where we just evaluating watchman vs [TS]

dark knight returns here or [TS]

Batman year one no I mean we gotta look [TS]

at the whole thing and so I'm gonna [TS]

surprise you a little bit and go with [TS]

alan moore and the reason is not just [TS]

watchman but the the series that i [TS]

really fell in love with that alan moore [TS]

road was swamp thing I just love that [TS]

  one for a while [TS]

wow we do the double watch them film [TS]

didn't already own that deeply points14 [TS]

young team old serenity Caldwell was [TS]

asked to name her favorite book ever [TS]

oh my god it's not an either/or xin de [TS]

no no we're moving on to round 2 which [TS]

is where they have to pick things you [TS]

have to guess what they pick she [TS]

actually named three different books at [TS]

various points her choices so obscure [TS]

that I'm going to let you if you name [TS]

any of the three you get points for that [TS]

  shot in the dark [TS]

wow I'm trying to think of what she is [TS]

mentioned diana wynne jones maybe one of [TS]

those uh I think if it weren't for the [TS]

author I'd have to go with ender's game [TS]

but unfortunately orson scott card does [TS]

doc a few points from that book I so i [TS]

will have to go with a little book that [TS]

was one of diana wynne jones is first in [TS]

her career called dogsbody oh I should [TS]

have done I'm gonna stop you right there [TS]

diana wynne jones one of her books was [TS]

indeed what she chose and you know what [TS]

you're going to get a point for that [TS]

you're not going to get me close to the [TS]

mat so we're just gonna move on three [TS]

with three books good job what about the [TS]

cats what about the cat that dog's body [TS]

by diana wynne jones was her choice she [TS]

also mentions even she also mentioned [TS]

and Julian said she couldn't take it [TS]

because we discuss you listen to the [TS]

social media and fahrenheit 451 shields [TS]

haha that was one of these the few [TS]

episodes that i was in fact he was on [TS]

that one yeah that's why he listened and [TS]

listened to when he's on last year's [TS]

April Fool's episode team young tony was [TS]

asked to name his favorite movie ever [TS]

what did he choose all you damn sure [TS]

pressures on God's Son favorite movie [TS]

ever really does like Christopher Nolan [TS]

reason why but i'm not over the back met [TS]

  Batman gambit again [TS]

yeah I that I clearly that paid off so [TS]

well last time a wrap [TS]

um making going to be like North by [TS]

Northwest or something i would you pick [TS]

like it is but it's it's probably do [TS]

that or one of the you know like a Star [TS]

Wars movie or something the way he's not [TS]

as being on those I think um but [TS]

favorite movie of all time I'm gonna I'm [TS]

gonna curse myself and I don't remember [TS]

  I guess I'm i guess i'm not getting a [TS]

birthday present this year you get some [TS]

movies anyone else would help no okay [TS]

just me I a batman begins I mean you [TS]

said it's a big Batman guy and loves [TS]

kristal Melanie you know which one of [TS]

the road yeah i don't i don't think that [TS]

  I mean I don't think that's likely but i [TS]

did you know maybe the best guess then I [TS]

wake up with your message though I mean [TS]

like Christopher Nolan yeah I said [TS]

momento en was your answer is they're [TS]

gonna get Batman Begins you say it is a [TS]

a movie that is in fact already been [TS]

mentioned on this podcast so far which [TS]

would be the empire strikes back which [TS]

you know you can get into a long [TS]

argument about whether empire strikes [TS]

back for Star Wars is better [TS]

maybe you know watch what shot at you [TS]

know asked a damn orange on Syracuse's [TS]

about that if you want to kill a couple [TS]

  hours [TS]

oh but I I'm gonna go with that is as [TS]

one of my favorite movies that I've seen [TS]

many many times and never get tired of [TS]

seeing i will mention having recently [TS]

listened to the incomparable movie draft [TS]

several movies that i very much like [TS]

that didn't get mentioned in the [TS]

incomparable movie draft since you can [TS]

go and listen to a lot of about the [TS]

empire strikes back on the incomparable [TS]

but three other movies that I like a lot [TS]

that didn't get mentioned city of god [TS]

the procedure and the blues brothers are [TS]

all are three movies that i also like [TS]

all great deal but probably are not [TS]

quite at the pinnacle of favorite movie [TS]

alternate universe Tony easy with you [TS]

see I don't even know him anymore he did [TS]

mention the prestige as one of his [TS]

deputies another one you like I'm i'll [TS]

have time to mention that was earlier [TS]

yes Tiana's christmas and i don't mean [TS]

young is eating their young now 70 mold [TS]

damn freaks was asked to name his [TS]

  favorite TV show ever [TS]

Oh what do you think he said Adams [TS]

  family sorry this joke [TS]

favorite TV show ever 3-2 series you [TS]

  said yes [TS]

Rockford Files have any of us ever met [TS]

Dan friends them I know down a bit but I [TS]

don't know is a word that have come up [TS]

it's not supernatural I know that [TS]

yeah that would begin to notice that the [TS]

different us is it long as it lost was [TS]

he big lost family member i think we're [TS]

doing now is were playing the randoms [TS]

things that might associate with his [TS]

  name things [TS]

well clearly with start was the rich [TS]

Star Trek next generation because of the [TS]

names and it Babylon 5 edition right [TS]

yeah five edition started avalon five [TS]

the just take the dynasty take a guess I [TS]

was a lot less they lost lost it Kenny [TS]

  young stainless steel [TS]

yeah II you can see you can say i don't [TS]

know whether oil award-winning points [TS]

what do you think John I don't think but [TS]

dan thanks for tonight had a list of [TS]

like 10 shows i went through and them [TS]

one by one in the end the one that I [TS]

think I enjoyed the most while I was [TS]

watching and look forward to every week [TS]

was the west wing and the west wing of [TS]

course my my background education is in [TS]

public policy so I'm sure that played a [TS]

role there but it had a phenomenal cast [TS]

at great characters and some of the best [TS]

dialogue of any show ever and it took [TS]

something that you thought people would [TS]

really be interested enough to sit down [TS]

every weekend watch the inside baseball [TS]

of Washington politics and and made it [TS]

popular and sometimes even even [TS]

educational I mean the writers completed [TS]

artistic license but the show it showed [TS]

viewers you know quite a bit about the [TS]

  way Washington actually works [TS]

  I don't know [TS]

oh I've met Josh Malina do I get points [TS]

for losers going to dominate points for [TS]

  landing [TS]

yeah yeah I was minus one right there [TS]

for winning oh no it's just hurts like [TS]

told me and Tim young this is this is [TS]

your last question then boy check was [TS]

asked if you could erase one work of [TS]

  fiction from existence forever [TS]

what would it be like this [TS]

this includes across all anymore you [TS]

can't you can't get rid of all the [TS]

prequels that know as if you have to get [TS]

rid of one of those that have to be [TS]

Phantom Menace write it and I think I [TS]

don't know stuff and but Michigan pics [TS]

he's not gonna pick that if he has to [TS]

pick one thing about how about the [TS]

george clooney vehicle Batman and Robin [TS]

I that that just continue with our [TS]

Batman be having all of which is good [TS]

and being wrong about Batman [TS]

yeah alright let's just go with that now [TS]

there we go we're sticking to it i'll [TS]

  get bigger [TS]

yeah Batman Robin yeah Mr Freeze is gone [TS]

you know this is such an easy question I [TS]

thought you were gonna ask me we have [TS]

which one of my children I love now I I [TS]

understand why you might ask that [TS]

question because you know I i am on [TS]

record saying that the Phantom n Menace [TS]

threw me into a funk and a deep dark [TS]

depression for at least a week and so I [TS]

could very easily do a kind of pale [TS]

imitation of you know that that was a [TS]

Patton Oswalt routine where he talks [TS]

about going back in time and and and [TS]

beating you know George Lucas to death [TS]

  with a shovel [TS]

I could do that but then this would be [TS]

over in a minute in half and and that [TS]

wouldn't be interesting or entertaining [TS]

at all or incomparable like or [TS]

incompetent no I could I mean it and and [TS]

you know any work of fiction at all i [TS]

  have [TS]

thousands of years with which to work [TS]

right but but no I'm going to I'm going [TS]

to do I'm going to go with the [TS]

sentimental choice and this is an [TS]

example of how there's there can be no [TS]

arguing with matters of taste and the [TS]

work of fiction that I would eliminate [TS]

is Tank Girl the film the film for the [TS]

simple reason that I thought lori petty [TS]

deserved better career and that movie [TS]

just that movie just killed it for and I [TS]

liked her a lot and that movie after [TS]

that she was doing bit parts and it was [TS]

just it was just a crying shame really [TS]

wow girls nice of them [TS]

that sounds that was my second guess you [TS]

have to take he did it for me that you [TS]

doing it you would have gotten points4 [TS]

Phantom Menace but no but he did it for [TS]

her that's sort of selfless it is it had [TS]

we should get a point for that now [TS]

now i'm gonna close up the parallel [TS]

universe podcast but that the bat you [TS]

all I demand a recount and it awarded [TS]

and my my alternate universe counterpart [TS]

Nathan l will be closing our alternate [TS]

universe counterpart and I think with [TS]

the quality prime comparable universe [TS]

and that will be how will they know you [TS]

and I get the not that well at all and [TS]

we're gonna move on to Round seven team [TS]

young leading by one point entirely [TS]

because Glenn dropped one of his clan [TS]

references time I don't know Glenn can [TS]

we have that point because Glenn will [TS]

point out that he actually has met your [TS]

mailman so it so we'll work it all turns [TS]

back around seven is something I like to [TS]

call i am a star trek android I've asked [TS]

each of you to prepare a an analogical [TS]

statement that will make my head explode [TS]

Allah the statements that Captain Kirk [TS]

would make two androids who were poorly [TS]

designed on the original Star Trek who [TS]

would like to try and make my android [TS]

  head explode [TS]

I I got shot alright alright [TS]

  android Jason yes dad [TS]

the only way for me to win this fight is [TS]

to kill every single life-form in [TS]

existence but if you know every [TS]

life-form you are a life form you will [TS]

kill yourself and then you will be dead [TS]

how could you win that is illogical [TS]

illogical li my god his head is smoking [TS]

lookout point for Dan who else would [TS]

like to confuse I'd like to try all [TS]

  right [TS]

yes granny way to win the the only way [TS]

to win is not to play I have to see that [TS]

movie it was excellent i especially like [TS]

  the whopper [TS]

no points all skin is just an excuse for [TS]

that voice who I didn't you pull out [TS]

that quality robot voice when it was [TS]

your time to do your phantom menace like [TS]

well we'll see ya at phantom my dad my [TS]

Empire yet not phantom and a salad [TS]

well we haven't done the transition [TS]

manager yet empires robot cowboy coming [TS]

through yeah alright coming through got [TS]

to get that cardboard or anybody else [TS]

got a logical fallacy for me i'll go [TS]

alright go you go ahead to take your [TS]

  pictures and steep [TS]

alright i feel i ran a little long in [TS]

the last segment so I'll make this short [TS]

first I would I would sit you down and [TS]

show you star trek five and its entirety [TS]

and then I would tell you they made a [TS]

Star Trek 60 i love it i am kind of [TS]

robot cowboy coming through here i love [TS]

that movie that was a great movie star [TS]

trek five and had that ship in the guy [TS]

that other guy with a pointy is a no-go [TS]

I want to see more i'm glad they made a [TS]

617 these robot cowboys and their [TS]

impeccable logic alright i learned out [TS]

on the Prairie when you may go ahead now [TS]

alright android Jason all android phones [TS]

are free people like free things if you [TS]

give some of the phone they make calls [TS]

if you teach in the program apps are set [TS]

  for life [TS]

android tablets are not android phones [TS]

people will buy android tablets I your [TS]

statement valuables me error error error [TS]

error error error or sectarian 1002 [TS]

window we had to do with spout nonsense [TS]

at that and high-volume aight i was [TS]

legitimately baffled there and my [TS]

favorite is I thought I followed and [TS]

austin honor your baffled that's ya see [TS]

your battle this one over yes plan that [TS]

very kiss you just get bonus points for [TS]

causing all of our heads to smoke [TS]

yes perhaps uh everyone's gone John do [TS]

you have a logical fallacy for me [TS]

yeah i'm going i really really wanted to [TS]

go with what I got in my pocket but I [TS]

figured you happen to like so uh huh i'm [TS]

gonna skip that and go with the other [TS]

one that I have which is considerably [TS]

more lame but more tuned perhaps to a to [TS]

the spirit of this contest that being [TS]

  you sleep [TS]

yeah that had this beard being like a 20 [TS]

or false true or false computer things [TS]

are more like they are now than they've [TS]

  ever been [TS]

  say that again please [TS]

got your drink their presentation i [TS]

think it means I win does it not [TS]

things are false thing more like they [TS]

are now than they've ever been this is [TS]

true that is a logical statement not [TS]

illogical at all but in fact perfectly [TS]

  logical you are one [TS]

not us you two are an Android i have my [TS]

foot i think if you think about that [TS]

enough to realize it's not a tautology [TS]

who do you know any of my buddy [TS]

Bullwinkle ok seems like you did get [TS]

longman Scott Mykelti I am so overworked [TS]

Android but I well I have perhaps the [TS]

lamest one of the haha excellent when [TS]

our it's it's more of an odd piece [TS]

though you're a real genius is that your [TS]

statement with no real genius is neither [TS]

real nor genius that's all I so I too [TS]

saw that movie although i found it did [TS]

not have the emotional depth of war [TS]

  games [TS]

I i find that the character played by [TS]

the killer is indeed a genius and [TS]

therefore your statement is incorrect [TS]

you're just making the android mad yeah [TS]

don't enter the android ok wouldn't like [TS]

him when he's saying that was the end of [TS]

this time mr. trick android we're gonna [TS]

like too much anyway p equals NP i just [TS]

go Greg you're free should use that in [TS]

the in the thing right [TS]

well that would have required me to [TS]

prepare that we're moving on to round [TS]

eight round eight is called you are [TS]

George Lucas and all i'm not i'm out [TS]

sound effect that was all killing [TS]

ourselves and our way you can just roll [TS]

around on your money instead give me one [TS]

example of a classic work you would fix [TS]

to make it in your opinion better you [TS]

get a chance to take a classic work [TS]

money is no object perhaps time and [TS]

space or no object something that you [TS]

would actually fix to make it better ah [TS]

George Lucas let's start with team old [TS]

you just as you are going to you each [TS]

have one but I each have one yes yes [TS]

okay ladies has just this morning I we [TS]

watched Phantom Menace for the first [TS]

time since I saw it in theaters and i [TS]

watch The Phantom edit just to see if it [TS]

was any better than I remembered and it [TS]

absolutely was not and so the change I [TS]

would make would be to remove it [TS]

entirely from history to erase it [TS]

completely like been rejected with tank [TS]

  girl [TS]

yes only it would make these are people [TS]

doing the job and for anything more pain [TS]

right that simply just removed entirely [TS]

so basically the opening credits and any [TS]

credits and then that format the hard [TS]

drive it was built on all right okay [TS]

  that simple [TS]

Steve I'll Jason you and I both know [TS]

that if I were George Lucas I'd be [TS]

spending every waking hour trying to [TS]

convince Spielberg that Raiders would be [TS]

better if it had a gigantic cgi camel [TS]

better if it had a gigantic cgi camel [TS]

locks in his hind legs and talks with an [TS]

indian accent but you know let's go for [TS]

that sentence since this is in the real [TS]

world and i'm not in fact George Lucas [TS]

I'm going to say that i would i would [TS]

take lost the TV series Lost which you [TS]

know maybe it's a bit of a stretch to [TS]

call it a classic at this point but I [TS]

think it'll be there so is yeah I and I [TS]

would fix the pacing lost was it was a [TS]

great show but a lot of people were [TS]

disappointed in the way it ended and for [TS]

me the final season felt like it was [TS]

horribly rushed like like the showrunner [TS]

suddenly realize you know we have 600 [TS]

loose ends to tie up and only 10 [TS]

episodes left to do it so its boom [TS]

revelation boom revelation and the whole [TS]

Jacob versus the man in black thing just [TS]

kind of comes out of nowhere [TS]

maybe it was really in Damon Lindelof [TS]

said the whole way through the series [TS]

but it sure didn't feel like so i would [TS]

go back and adjust mostly season six [TS]

stretch it out a bit maybe move a few of [TS]

the less important revelations back [TS]

season or two so they are crammed [TS]

together and then make it all fit i [TS]

probably hack out greats waves of season [TS]

2 which dragged badly for me and in [TS]

  retrospect was almost entirely [TS]

unnecessary and then go back and pepper [TS]

a few signposts around the early seasons [TS]

that point to the jacob man in black [TS]

dynamic and if i had ultimate power I [TS]

keep mr. Eko alive and working into the [TS]

rest of the series because he's a far [TS]

more interesting character to me than [TS]

most of the primary cast so basically [TS]

you do a what an author would call a [TS]

second draft of loss which the TV [TS]

producers to get a chance to do because [TS]

they wrangle right through excellent [TS]

you're giving me that chance because I [TS]

multi billionaire george lewis George [TS]

Lucas I can do whatever I want them it's [TS]

lost to point out excellent that's great [TS]

  plan [TS]

well i was going to be better government [TS]

film by the way 9i thought about all of [TS]

the be no I thought about all the great [TS]

science-fiction movies are looked at [TS]

what was wrong with many of them there's [TS]

so many that are so good and don't have [TS]

it is you know a single flaws and I like [TS]

and I realize there is a movie that I [TS]

quite like people hated do [TS]

but the reason I liked it was for the [TS]

parts that work and not the parts that [TS]

which was quite a bit of it and so I [TS]

have an idea that you could redo the [TS]

film and recast a couple rolls like bad [TS]

Dory for hated and Dean Stockwell I [TS]

usually love but i thought was terrible [TS]

in a key role get a few new actors I [TS]

mean you know look comic laughlin I [TS]

  think rocks [TS]

why did I liked him and I also like to [TS]

course Patrick Stewart you know there's [TS]

some great people in it but of course [TS]

you have to pull all the ridiculous [TS]

  internal monologue monologue voiceover [TS]

in which the characters are voicing [TS]

their thoughts as if you need to when in [TS]

fact you can just watch the acting is [TS]

the acting portrays it so much quieter [TS]

film with better reveals and a little [TS]

less talking unless those actors talk [TS]

the better and let the story that the [TS]

large sweep of the story and the [TS]

sandworms and some really terrific [TS]

visuals carry the movie instead of [TS]

trying to make it a science-fiction [TS]

Lynch film and he didn't even like the [TS]

  way can either [TS]

alright that's a good answer client [TS]

alright team young how about you Dan [TS]

more'n one yeah so yeah again a as with [TS]

lost i don't know if this is this more [TS]

of a recent classic but i would take the [TS]

TV series Battlestar Galactica the [TS]

recent one which I thought started out [TS]

well enough there's a great sort of mini [TS]

series with this sort of apocalyptic end [TS]

to this civilization and that's being [TS]

encroached upon by this artificial life [TS]

form of their own creation and that's [TS]

sort of a classic man versus machine [TS]

take and humans are on the run and [TS]

they're running out of resources and [TS]

they've got to figure out how to get to [TS]

this sort of lost colony and a great [TS]

premise but the show kind of lost its [TS]

way I think really starting in the [TS]

second season started getting distracted [TS]

lots of filler episodes that would cut [TS]

out a bunch of the filler episodes i [TS]

would really trim it down into maybe a [TS]

couple seasons i loved the occupation [TS]

arc that they that they do where they [TS]

sort of have a parable to the at the [TS]

time the war in iraq was very [TS]

interesting and disorder what science [TS]

fiction does best about making us [TS]

reconsider our own current environment [TS]

through a different lens and i would get [TS]

rid of sort of the hippie-dippie stuff [TS]

in the later episodes in the religion it [TS]

just got a little crazy [TS]

they started throwing key characters [TS]

around making decisions that didn't make [TS]

any sense there were some real [TS]

bizarre episodes that seemed off the [TS]

wall and the ending really just sucked [TS]

so travel a lot of that make a nice lean [TS]

ship running for a couple seasons would [TS]

have been fantastic alright excellent [TS]

  full credit for that [TS]

Scott what do you think is since i'm [TS]

george lucas a I cannot resist meddling [TS]

tamper improving star wars one more time [TS]

because you know the kids today they [TS]

like to start work but they don't like [TS]

it they can't connect to these these [TS]

actors they don't know who the actors [TS]

are and I have all these digital experts [TS]

who can just replace these actors and so [TS]

Princess Leia january jones kids they [TS]

love january jones Luke Skywalker is now [TS]

Channing Tatum because he's hot today [TS]

the kids they like him [TS]

uh Han Solo and how did you actually get [TS]

George Lucas on this possible hard solo [TS]

I think a guy pearce will do a good one [TS]

so obi-wan Kenobi sir ian mckellen [TS]

perfect c-3po another British actor who [TS]

I enjoy kenneth branagh his little his [TS]

sassy sidekick r2d2 when you say sassy [TS]

sidekick you think Eddie Murphy and I [TS]

oddly enough Darth Vader mark hamill [TS]

because he is great with the the voices [TS]

wow that you get a bonus point in [TS]

addition to full credit that's got that [TS]

  was spectacular [TS]

i think i did an early defend the [TS]

indefensible and does the r2d2 Eddie [TS]

Murphy the the kid-friendly Eddie Murphy [TS]

or the big shredded brown shark came [TS]

eddie murphy i think it was like Gary [TS]

Coleman but for that you could fit in [TS]

there so there's anything smaller all [TS]

the time to what you talking about your [TS]

video get so well but George Lucas [TS]

doesn't have the power to raise the dead [TS]

every college me if you can just you [TS]

know it's all be there by yeah I don't [TS]

like you say it's your turn to be George [TS]

Lucas I know you've waited for this day [TS]

so I'm glad that I'm not the only one [TS]

who took this assignment the same with [TS]

Scott did i'll let you be the judge hair [TS]

up the movie that if I was George Lucas [TS]

that I would fix would be the Godfather [TS]

which is almost perfect but just [TS]

it's not quite not quite seems like it [TS]

just a few little changes could make it [TS]

better in particular i'm thinking about [TS]

the scene and pitching tent where [TS]

Michael goes to the get the gun that [TS]

Clemente hit behind the old-style water [TS]

closet type of toilet and he comes out [TS]

of the bathroom at the gun and he sits [TS]

down at the table and listen to slot so [TS]

talk for a while and then he shoots lots [TS]

go and mccluskey and and leaves now [TS]

Michael character was never supposed to [TS]

be like this but we had a lot of trouble [TS]

shooting of that scene and a lot of the [TS]

footage was lost was supposed to happen [TS]

is that he comes out of the bathroom [TS]

with the guns down at the table [TS]

McCluskey get suspicious of Michael and [TS]

draws his gun on them but Michael scared [TS]

he tries to get up and run the classic [TS]

shoots at him from sitting across the [TS]

table but he misses he misses and then [TS]

Michael raises gun and shoots him and so [TS]

that was the way that seems was supposed [TS]

to play out but the way it looks now [TS]

looks like Michaels a cold-blooded [TS]

killer he was never supposed to be like [TS]

  Michael shot first [TS]

Wow not in fact all those guns were [TS]

  supposed to be walkie-talkies [TS]

haha ok that's excellent excellent yeah [TS]

excellent word alright we are going to [TS]

move to the last round I know it seems [TS]

like it would never get here but it's [TS]

here now the young has a has a lead over [TS]

the old going into the last round still [TS]

so time for the old to step up the game [TS]

now this this last round is something [TS]

that I've stolen from other podcast that [TS]

  do this a I i I've stolen this from a [TS]

podcast that stole this from yet another [TS]

podcast that podcast the originator of [TS]

this is called fighting talk on the BBC [TS]

it's about soccer but that's a sport for [TS]

you people out there who don't follow [TS]

the sports anyway at my college football [TS]

they call football they do it's called [TS]

defend the indefensible i am going to [TS]

give you each a statement that you are [TS]

going to have to agree with so when I [TS]

say I I mean you and then after i finish [TS]

the statement you have 30 seconds to [TS]

vociferously agree with what i say what [TS]

i say is going to be terrible and you're [TS]

not going to agree with it you have to [TS]

pretend that you agree with it that is [TS]

the whole point and you'll you will [TS]

convince me and then i will give you [TS]

points we are going to start with Steve [TS]

on cheese okay Steve here's your ready [TS]

position here is your statement [TS]

yes zombies have been overused in movies [TS]

from now on I will watch only movies [TS]

  that feature LOL [TS]

noms or fairies well frankly zombies [TS]

have been overused in movies in the [TS]

there's only so many times you can see [TS]

somebody's intestine splattered all over [TS]

the floor in people's heads are full of [TS]

enough nastiness and bad thoughts [TS]

without having to see that kind of Filth [TS]

on the screen fairies and and and elves [TS]

  and and woodland creatures [TS]

man that's the kind of stuff you should [TS]

be focusing on not not that ugliness in [TS]

life but the beauty pretty things and [TS]

the Wonder alright excellent work [TS]

thank you Steve alright glad i got i [TS]

have nothin planned here's your here's [TS]

your's hear me I can hear you when the [TS]

Germans don't know from good cinema all [TS]

movies made should be in English [TS]

yeah I pretty much agree with this [TS]

because you know english is the best [TS]

language in the world is the universal [TS]

language is the language of cinema and [TS]

you know pretty much all good movies [TS]

that made to date have been made in [TS]

English German well there's speaking [TS]

syllables nobody really knows what [TS]

they're saying its kind of made-up [TS]

language it makes people sound or think [TS]

that they're sounding smart and we all [TS]

know what smart people do they speak [TS]

  English [TS]

alright excellent excellent and terrible [TS]

Oh Greg are you ready i am not only is [TS]

the Empire Strikes Back clearly a better [TS]

movies and Star Wars and so is a return [TS]

of the jetta not only our return of the [TS]

jedi and Empire Strikes Back better [TS]

movies in the original Star Wars so are [TS]

the three prequels they have a scope and [TS]

and add epic mess that that the original [TS]

Star Wars made 49 million dollars by a [TS]

bunch of wannabes just can't even touch [TS]

the the computer graphics the the number [TS]

of characters the the action the [TS]

dialogue everything about them really [TS]

just kind of brings it together in a way [TS]

that the original couldn't touch all [TS]

right he may need to wash now he avoided [TS]

the question though what are you doing [TS]

the parody answer and I don't like that [TS]

at all even to mention dependable hey it [TS]

would I think it was painful enough for [TS]

him that all right i'm gonna set myself [TS]

  on fire [TS]

  yeah Dan yes [TS]

the TV series Supernatural is awful i [TS]

only watch it because the boys are so [TS]

  dreamy [TS]

that's the truth of what are you Jason [TS]

you are you are correct i couldn't put [TS]

it better myself frankly the plots art [TS]

  right [TS]

the acting not that good but the guys [TS]

are just so damn handsome every time I [TS]

look at my heart skips a beat a little [TS]

bit and in fact i would take it a step [TS]

further than that and say that I just [TS]

don't even bother watching I just mute [TS]

it the whole time that i'm watching it [TS]

because that's the dialogue is crap i'm [TS]

not worth it not worth watching for that [TS]

I just I just leave running in the [TS]

background so I basically have something [TS]

to look at all day [TS]

alright excellent excellent work John [TS]

siracusa I think real genius is great [TS]

that was just that's all I have to [TS]

that's all I have to defend oh yeah real [TS]

genius is obviously great i mean if you [TS]

if you think of the eighties of what it [TS]

was like to be in the eighties and [TS]

capsulate that into a movie that speaks [TS]

to nerds you get real genius all the [TS]

things that a strange and and wacky and [TS]

these parties they go to the don't make [TS]

any sense in these weird relationships [TS]

and how everyone is too old [TS]

that's what the eighties was like I and [TS]

this movie exactly captures that spirit [TS]

more so than these movies like 16 [TS]

candles lit a John Hughes films or [TS]

whatever to speak to a certain segment [TS]

of the population of the people in this [TS]

podcast probably we're not members of [TS]

with exception possibly of the breakfast [TS]

club we didn't get to be the hero you [TS]

  know [TS]

alright that's not Molly Ringwald great [TS]

the real genius has its speaking to us i [TS]

can't i can't believe that you lectured [TS]

Greg for not giving your parody answer [TS]

everything that's not old in the eighth [TS]

note on the movies and movie that that [TS]

was an honest I was not defending the [TS]

indefensible that's money honestly think [TS]

about the good things about real genius [TS]

alright and I think of myself as molly [TS]

ringwald so really excellent and we kind [TS]

of all duscan we left Scott for last [TS]

your duck Scott Scott mhm Star Wars [TS]

rules start directory that well clearly [TS]

I mean you don't even need to say that [TS]

that's patently true you the Ark of the [TS]

hero story Joseph Campbell George Lucas [TS]

adapted into the saga of Luke Skywalker [TS]

finding out his real power [TS]

and parentage saving the universe star [TS]

trek with a star trek it's a couple of [TS]

idiots on a boat basically in space with [TS]

some bad scenery and hokey dialogue and [TS]

crappy special things really start Trek [TS]

  fan excellently convinced me [TS]

excellent work well that was that was [TS]

delightful we all every episode of this [TS]

podcast should be making you say [TS]

horrible thing that that was our last [TS]

round and i have to say that in a very [TS]

close close battle i'm going to give it [TS]

30 to 31 to team young betray are [TS]

betraying your age stabbed me in the [TS]

  back [TS]

you guys are using all of honors for toy [TS]

collecting Louie push he pushed all the [TS]

old men down the stairs and that's [TS]

  recognized ow revenge [TS]

I wouldn't be team tall next time to get [TS]

  the equally apt description [TS]

you have no idea how tall steve is he's [TS]

  a gnome you [TS]

yeah hired an elf was looking for [TS]

friends right before you speak of hair [TS]

  on his feet [TS]

wow I am 17 feet by eight [TS]

yeah yeah like two inches is like the [TS]

wing we get this direction is which [TS]

direction it depends on which way the [TS]

wind is blowing don't you want to know [TS]

I'll maybe someday you'll find that that [TS]

wraps up our first and presumably last [TS]

episode of the little game I like to [TS]

congratulate the the winners from Team [TS]

you have its land i used to get X as [TS]

  allegiance turned 30 [TS]

yeah if you're 30 years old I would have [TS]

understood in context but doesn't care [TS]

about 20 they didn't know it's been [TS]

flashing for a long long time all if it [TS]

keeps blinking 12 he doesn't know why it [TS]

didn't get it didn't come to my [TS]

attention those old until this podcast [TS]

  and Greg moss [TS]

thank you for being here I always feel [TS]

much more clever before we report the [TS]

record your penis isn't that doesn't [TS]

  that's how it goes [TS]

that's why we should tell our listeners [TS]

that we are really really brilliant [TS]

before we record the podcast and happier [TS]

and after but never durak never ever so [TS]

that was the train wreck as promised the [TS]

incomparable game show and all I can [TS]

tell you about the next episode of the [TS]

uncomfortable as it won't be a game show [TS]

Calvin ball it yeah it is [TS]

would you like anything I don't you know [TS]

the terrible secrets I'm partly [TS]

responsible bass why you have a lot to [TS]

land and were involved in the format [TS]

they were my mark Goodson entitled and [TS]

was involved that he's the one who it [TS]

  was [TS]

understand the one where you have to go [TS]

with the plot either often came up with [TS]

that is not responded the only 1i was I [TS]

would think the only part you look for [TS]

me was the bluffing around and the teams [TS]

  on the team [TS]

yeah and i think that was good oh man i [TS]

contributed nothing I was honestly Yves [TS]

will continue to claim why do you hate [TS]

old people then you also know i will be [TS]

  one someday so I guess I I didn't [TS]

explain this to you guys before but they [TS]

did let Lex and and Tony and and Dan [TS]

freaks and Ben and ren actually recorded [TS]

a podcast at seven o'clock that is the [TS]

the where they were asked all those [TS]

questions so i guess i'll put that on [TS]

maybe it's like the after darker so that [TS]

it's literally an alternate universe [TS]

podcast that they recorded yes I almost [TS]

ended up on the app because for some [TS]

reason they called you can jump between [TS]

universes can scary make my name is [TS]

gonna be the chance home Cortexiphan [TS]

was a show that was on in 1979 it was [TS]

all we saw the repeats yeah yeah back [TS]

when you do this work also remember him [TS]

yeah we saw that when you couldn't you [TS]

couldn't change the channel and find [TS]

  someone who wasn't drunk [TS]

yeah yeah really that was before reality [TS]

  TV [TS]

yeah you watch one network all [TS]

right because otherwise it would require [TS]

getting up and turn the knob [TS]

yes use the channel I would just do that [TS]

in my seat but that was before cable so [TS]

you see that was a zing bear this i know [TS]

you a punch in the gut for that feeling [TS]

I i actually black I'm so embarrassed [TS]

you know what I would fix if I could if [TS]

I could play George Lucas I would fix [TS]

  this damn podcast [TS]

oh not even George Lucas could do that [TS]

sing yeah once you reach my age being [TS]

fixed is completely unnecessary team won [TS]

what is your word whose team will [TS]

understand you're supposed to claim your [TS]

team oneness and talk to them loses a [TS]

  point in a fight [TS]

what was that Scott was me [TS]

oh I was something was different [TS]

impression but as you get older Jason [TS]

your body starts to make new and [TS]

interesting is all right my mind I think [TS]

the fact that you can't beat this I was [TS]

only a hauling something you can't wipe [TS]

out zombies it's like smallpox just kill [TS]

  them all [TS]

it was a power went they don't worry [TS]

difficult eventually get more reproduce [TS]

they reproduced by each other are eating [TS]
