The Incomparable

304: Law of Diminishing Ninja Returns

00:00:03   the incomparable number 304 2 2016 [TS]

00:00:14   welcome back everybody to the [TS]

00:00:15   incomparable we're gonna do a special [TS]

00:00:16   episode about the TV season pass now you [TS]

00:00:20   know technically the TV season is [TS]

00:00:22   endless and it never stops and there's [TS]

00:00:24   always new stuff on now even in the [TS]

00:00:25   summertime but we're going to take this [TS]

00:00:27   moment sort of for tradition sake you [TS]

00:00:29   gotta draw a line somewhere and the [TS]

00:00:30   traditional broadcast network TV season [TS]

00:00:33   did just end and so we're going to do a [TS]

00:00:36   couple episodes in the next month or so [TS]

00:00:38   about television sort of wrapping up [TS]

00:00:42   general interest like lots of different [TS]

00:00:44   stuff and I decided there was so much in [TS]

00:00:46   this times in these times of confusion [TS]

00:00:48   times of peak TV that we would take the [TS]

00:00:50   superhero ish kind of shows and throw [TS]

00:00:53   them all in a pot and do an episode [TS]

00:00:55   about them and that's this episode so [TS]

00:00:57   joining me to talk about the the year [TS]

00:01:00   gone by in superhero TV and other comic [TS]

00:01:02   book related TV it's a fine panel of [TS]

00:01:05   guest dan morgan is here [TS]

00:01:07   hi dan I Jason pleasure to be here from [TS]

00:01:09   i should say from the arrow cast yes [TS]

00:01:12   from the flash flash cast is mr. [TS]

00:01:15   philipose lachrymose high and also for [TS]

00:01:18   the flash flash cast Lisa Schmeisser [TS]

00:01:20   hello hello [TS]

00:01:22   and also from the flash flash cast at [TS]

00:01:24   Stony sindelar culinary arts we roll [TS]

00:01:26   deep that's how we do it all right yeah [TS]

00:01:28   I feel outnumbered [TS]

00:01:30   yeah well where the point I'd like maybe [TS]

00:01:33   time fragments yeah motivation two most [TS]

00:01:36   most also has a has the daredevil rewind [TS]

00:01:38   pin on his chest so he's a he's got he's [TS]

00:01:42   got a lot of superheroes that he's [TS]

00:01:43   covering and also joining us a guy who's [TS]

00:01:46   not in any flash cast about superheroes [TS]

00:01:48   because he saves that for dragons and [TS]

00:01:52   ice zombies it's Monty actually I'm [TS]

00:01:55   auntie I spent the last five years [TS]

00:01:56   trapped on a hellish podcast I'm just [TS]

00:02:01   adopting Monty for my arrow forever be [TS]

00:02:04   honorary arrow cast this text I worry [TS]

00:02:06   that money's gonna spend this entire [TS]

00:02:07   podcast flashing back to this five years [TS]

00:02:09   of good and we're just gonna be like why [TS]

00:02:13   is this relevant design and such a weird [TS]

00:02:15   week i'm awake when your podcasting I [TS]

00:02:18   like money but this the flashbacks in [TS]

00:02:20   the season [TS]

00:02:21   and I'm not as useful as facial hair [TS]

00:02:24   keeps changing my grows out if that's [TS]

00:02:28   what you mean [TS]

00:02:28   hey we're plugging superhero related [TS]

00:02:31   stuff we do i would say i right about [TS]

00:02:33   arrow and Gotham and marvel's agents of [TS]

00:02:35   shield on previously not TV excellent [TS]

00:02:38   plug [TS]

00:02:38   well done while plugged guys I'm [TS]

00:02:41   actually jason from episode to thousands [TS]

00:02:43   of the incomparable an immortal mad man [TS]

00:02:45   killed my family and I've come back in [TS]

00:02:47   time for unspecified reasons to change [TS]

00:02:52   history so said I've chosen all of you [TS]

00:02:55   to be my champions because of on-again [TS]

00:02:58   unspecified reasons that i was going on [TS]

00:03:01   with everything that's one word for [TS]

00:03:03   expected for the expendable ones i guess [TS]

00:03:05   if you do have the dust you're just [TS]

00:03:07   changing the present but you'll be [TS]

00:03:09   legends that sounds like a show it's [TS]

00:03:11   gonna be really really good [TS]

00:03:13   I mean really excited about that kind of [TS]

00:03:15   show I'm not that excited about the [TS]

00:03:17   other nine people that have been chosen [TS]

00:03:18   with me know when he was gonna yeah [TS]

00:03:19   development i think i think in the next [TS]

00:03:21   season our show will be much better [TS]

00:03:24   I don't want to be trapped on a [TS]

00:03:25   spaceship with dan take that [TS]

00:03:28   so let's let's uh start with we'll do [TS]

00:03:32   some check-ins on shows that of that are [TS]

00:03:34   already exist before we go to the the [TS]

00:03:37   new shows already existed i saw the [TS]

00:03:40   flashing arrow we mentioned we obviously [TS]

00:03:42   we've got people here who talked about [TS]

00:03:44   those shows weekly on the TV podcast [TS]

00:03:47   from the incomparable if you don't know [TS]

00:03:48   about it you should check it out we [TS]

00:03:49   recap and review lots and lots of show [TS]

00:03:52   is on the TV podcast including some [TS]

00:03:55   superhero shows uh so what why don't we [TS]

00:03:58   start with those two since they're kind [TS]

00:04:00   of in this connected universe and and [TS]

00:04:02   returning shows what everybody think [TS]

00:04:05   about the season of arrow as a whole [TS]

00:04:08   let's start there since we've got a [TS]

00:04:10   monte and Dan especially representing [TS]

00:04:12   the deep focus on the arrow show but I [TS]

00:04:16   know everybody watched it so what do you [TS]

00:04:19   guys think of this season of arrow neal [TS]

00:04:20   mcdonough know is you're not around [TS]

00:04:22   pronounce his name but he's great deal [TS]

00:04:24   McConaughey's even fantastic [TS]

00:04:27   yes he made this season if you thank God [TS]

00:04:29   for neal mcdonough because after last [TS]

00:04:31   year's wet blanket that was Michelle [TS]

00:04:32   goal [TS]

00:04:33   yeah it was a low bar to clear but he [TS]

00:04:36   cleared it with room to spare [TS]

00:04:38   by like a guy who enjoys being able [TS]

00:04:41   really evil with a smile on his face [TS]

00:04:44   did you guys see season 3 of justified [TS]

00:04:47   yes I did yes [TS]

00:04:48   yeah like this is kind of becoming his [TS]

00:04:50   bread-and-butter and I for one applaud [TS]

00:04:51   the move [TS]

00:04:52   he's he enjoys eating scenery at a [TS]

00:04:55   tremendous rate I'm totally okay with [TS]

00:04:58   that and he just he really it's [TS]

00:05:00   fascinating to me I mean he was credited [TS]

00:05:01   in all of the he appeared in almost [TS]

00:05:03   every episode in season except for a few [TS]

00:05:05   and he's credited special appearance by [TS]

00:05:07   and everyone which makes me wonder if [TS]

00:05:08   they just shoveled a whole lot of cash [TS]

00:05:10   in his direction i had several moments [TS]

00:05:12   where I thought to myself how did arrow [TS]

00:05:15   a forward meal McDonough because he's [TS]

00:05:17   way lyric video but he's I mean hey he [TS]

00:05:20   was worth every penny day yeah i agree i [TS]

00:05:23   greedy the importance of having a good [TS]

00:05:25   villain and the villain ideally the [TS]

00:05:27   villain has some kind of plan and yeah [TS]

00:05:28   it's gonna be flawed because they're [TS]

00:05:29   gonna have to be foiled but they gotta [TS]

00:05:31   have a plan [TS]

00:05:31   flash they gotta have a plan and then [TS]

00:05:33   and ideally you've got to just enjoy how [TS]

00:05:36   to chew the scenery and you know Damien [TS]

00:05:39   dark cup with a name like that he's got [TS]

00:05:42   to be a good villain and he was really [TS]

00:05:44   want darhk that ax ya strange the ages [TS]

00:05:49   for evil [TS]

00:05:50   now hold on real quick before we start [TS]

00:05:54   putting a bunch of feathers in Arrow's [TS]

00:05:56   cap was well well then it doesn't mind [TS]

00:06:01   dan I know I'm doing things like you [TS]

00:06:03   normally do the fetish to help with [TS]

00:06:05   stability of your that's right now most [TS]

00:06:08   okay thank you [TS]

00:06:10   you know I have guy English in my closet [TS]

00:06:12   right now so that you guys are you on [TS]

00:06:14   the show arrow was a punching above its [TS]

00:06:17   weight with nukes agents of shield and [TS]

00:06:21   Gotham and arrow all head nuclear weapon [TS]

00:06:25   plots going on at the end of the season [TS]

00:06:26   only arrow decided it was a good idea [TS]

00:06:29   for an eight o'clock show to blow up a [TS]

00:06:33   city and say oh tens of thousands of [TS]

00:06:36   people are dead off-screen and they [TS]

00:06:38   don't even mention it the flash [TS]

00:06:39   university systems near [TS]

00:06:41   there's nothing there's just there's [TS]

00:06:42   major issues going on there i guess but [TS]

00:06:44   i guess i think the problem you know if [TS]

00:06:46   the Pharaoh had any problems leading up [TS]

00:06:49   to the end of the season [TS]

00:06:50   I think what's great about Damien dark [TS]

00:06:52   is that he does have an agenda he is the [TS]

00:06:54   hero of his own story told me in a way [TS]

00:06:56   that in the way that racial goal was [TS]

00:06:58   just like super concerned about like org [TS]

00:06:59   charts and it i think that will work [TS]

00:07:03   well that worked well i agree that I [TS]

00:07:06   feel like they try to amp it up to a [TS]

00:07:08   degree that wasn't maybe wasn't [TS]

00:07:11   necessary and didn't mean that some of [TS]

00:07:13   the stuff in the in the finale fell a [TS]

00:07:16   little flat I felt fail the final [TS]

00:07:18   confrontation was kind of anticlimactic [TS]

00:07:20   after you after you pulled out nukes [TS]

00:07:23   like really where do you have to go [TS]

00:07:25   after that and it is weird [TS]

00:07:26   unless that in 2000 nukes unless you end [TS]

00:07:30   up making that anything like for the [TS]

00:07:32   next season unless you're setting [TS]

00:07:34   something up [TS]

00:07:35   I to just do that as sort of an example [TS]

00:07:37   of how evil the sky is and how much he's [TS]

00:07:40   powered up now like I don't know it [TS]

00:07:42   seemed it seemed unnecessary Lee like [TS]

00:07:45   what's the word I'm looking for [TS]

00:07:48   it just it seems like a raise the stakes [TS]

00:07:50   a little bit too much I felt like we [TS]

00:07:52   were right back in the eighties with all [TS]

00:07:53   the nuclear cold war stuff going on this [TS]

00:07:55   this year does it does everything have [TS]

00:07:57   to be the end of the world I mean that [TS]

00:07:59   was the other thought that is also [TS]

00:08:00   seemed awfully prosaic that that it was [TS]

00:08:03   going to be nuclear weapons blowing [TS]

00:08:04   everything up when this is a super magic [TS]

00:08:06   guy i kinda for it figured that would [TS]

00:08:08   lead to some horrible magic thing he [TS]

00:08:10   would do but no that's not it its [TS]

00:08:11   computers that can take over magically [TS]

00:08:14   can take over guess there's the magic [TS]

00:08:16   it's the computers must be magical to be [TS]

00:08:18   able to launch every single nuclear [TS]

00:08:19   missile in the world but they they they [TS]

00:08:22   are boy they really these city shows [TS]

00:08:25   really don't know anything about [TS]

00:08:26   computers they really you have the techs [TS]

00:08:28   eteam as we refer to them on the arrow [TS]

00:08:30   verse cast they yeah they should not be [TS]

00:08:34   there as far as they're concerned [TS]

00:08:34   apparently all technology is [TS]

00:08:36   indistinguishable from magic [TS]

00:08:37   yeah I will be interested to see if they [TS]

00:08:40   deal with the aftermath of the entire [TS]

00:08:42   world's nuclear arsenal being lost right [TS]

00:08:45   as i'm pretty sure what happened was all [TS]

00:08:48   15,000 nuclear missiles were launched [TS]

00:08:50   they were going to take exactly two hour [TS]

00:08:52   to reach their destination except for [TS]

00:08:54   one which was going to reach star city [TS]

00:08:56   in 45 minutes and make a foiled by a [TS]

00:08:59   handheld camera and a tablet all 15,000 [TS]

00:09:04   other missiles got their horizon flipped [TS]

00:09:07   upside down so they thought they were [TS]

00:09:08   supposed to go into space instead of [TS]

00:09:10   down to earth which is not how gravity [TS]

00:09:11   works that's not how to clear missiles [TS]

00:09:14   working but they all went into space for [TS]

00:09:17   now there are no nukes left on earth [TS]

00:09:19   enero or presumably flash you would [TS]

00:09:21   think that would have some kind of [TS]

00:09:23   effect on and spaces irradiated that was [TS]

00:09:26   also the aliens come next season and [TS]

00:09:28   they're really mad like you believed to [TS]

00:09:31   live in the solar system Citadel say [TS]

00:09:32   yeah [TS]

00:09:33   Green Lantern's gonna write us a ticket [TS]

00:09:34   will be right and jon jones is gonna [TS]

00:09:36   show up and be like seriously people [TS]

00:09:38   he's got mad so I thought I thought [TS]

00:09:41   arrow have a stronger year than the year [TS]

00:09:42   before I thought the flashback for kind [TS]

00:09:44   of ridiculous but we're working point [TS]

00:09:47   now where next season presumably they're [TS]

00:09:49   basically gonna have to tell a story [TS]

00:09:50   that leads up to the first episode of [TS]

00:09:51   the first season I'm kind of looking [TS]

00:09:53   forward to that although i suspect it [TS]

00:09:55   still will be unnecessary I would be [TS]

00:09:57   happy if they drop the flash back and [TS]

00:09:58   seat entirely i'm also really amused by [TS]

00:10:01   the idea that in the sixth season [TS]

00:10:03   they'll have to come up with some other [TS]

00:10:04   conceit or flashback to the middle of [TS]

00:10:06   the first season of arrow we got a guy [TS]

00:10:09   English has been advocating for that [TS]

00:10:10   since like day one but i think well I [TS]

00:10:12   mean just drop it at that point there's [TS]

00:10:14   no reason not to use your unnecessarily [TS]

00:10:16   constrained by it and you really you [TS]

00:10:18   have a great idea for two years and they [TS]

00:10:20   were down to like two minutes of [TS]

00:10:22   flashbacks per episode in this last [TS]

00:10:24   season they did not have enough story [TS]

00:10:26   and they did women try when you've done [TS]

00:10:27   it for four out of the five years I can [TS]

00:10:29   see why you feel like you need to wrap [TS]

00:10:31   it up but yeah I think after season five [TS]

00:10:34   maybe just let it go [TS]

00:10:36   I like the couple of episodes where the [TS]

00:10:37   flashbacks worked all over on the is [TS]

00:10:40   diggle diggle had some good ones [TS]

00:10:42   yeah there's one yeah they wanted to [TS]

00:10:45   others too but yeah I think in there [TS]

00:10:47   wanted to episode where they dropped [TS]

00:10:48   entirely and you have to be and you're [TS]

00:10:49   like I really did not miss this flight i [TS]

00:10:54   can go through a little praise to some [TS]

00:10:56   of the supporting cast a narrow I i'm [TS]

00:10:58   constantly impressed by the supporting [TS]

00:10:59   cast a narrow especially Diggle and [TS]

00:11:01   Felicity I think those are our [TS]

00:11:03   characters that brings so much dimension [TS]

00:11:05   to the part they make the leading man [TS]

00:11:07   look better because [TS]

00:11:08   they give him things to play off of and [TS]

00:11:10   know that the way that they interact [TS]

00:11:11   with Oliver i think is a I think it's a [TS]

00:11:14   that something got some good they got [TS]

00:11:17   they got whether it's luck or things a [TS]

00:11:19   little bit of luck and then also the [TS]

00:11:21   wisdom to see what they had but those [TS]

00:11:23   those are those actors are both very [TS]

00:11:25   good and the characters really help that [TS]

00:11:27   show i think that would be that show [TS]

00:11:29   would be not watchable like thinking [TS]

00:11:32   maybe i would argue if you didn't have [TS]

00:11:34   such a great sort of trio at the at the [TS]

00:11:37   core of it with with Diggle and Felicity [TS]

00:11:38   along with all of her and they had a [TS]

00:11:40   great season arc I mean at the end of [TS]

00:11:42   the day [TS]

00:11:43   yeah i mean comparing it to other things [TS]

00:11:46   like the flash they actually had a full [TS]

00:11:49   season arc that yeah didn't seem to [TS]

00:11:52   stammer yeah they really did run right [TS]

00:11:54   through and they will they had I mean I [TS]

00:11:55   think they ran right through for the [TS]

00:11:57   most part there were a couple hiccups [TS]

00:11:58   here and there but they stuck to the [TS]

00:12:00   main plot he Damon dark shows up in [TS]

00:12:02   episode 1 and you know is evil and then [TS]

00:12:05   basically you know we unfold that [TS]

00:12:07   through the course of the season there's [TS]

00:12:08   a couple other good little mini arcs in [TS]

00:12:10   there there's some dumb arcs I think we [TS]

00:12:12   all probably agree that the I can't tell [TS]

00:12:17   my girlfriend about my filmmaking [TS]

00:12:20   community high on the ark was silly i [TS]

00:12:23   think they were just trying to back out [TS]

00:12:24   of Oliver marrying Felicity which by the [TS]

00:12:27   way [TS]

00:12:28   shouldn't we be married by now she seems [TS]

00:12:30   to have completely forgiven him but the [TS]

00:12:32   marriage did not go back on [TS]

00:12:34   well you know sometimes people feel very [TS]

00:12:36   strongly when they're like two about [TS]

00:12:37   illegitimate love children loves fickle [TS]

00:12:40   as we know as we now still better still [TS]

00:12:43   better season than last year's numero [TS]

00:12:44   yes [TS]

00:12:45   oh absolutely this is yeah i'm really [TS]

00:12:48   enjoying Felicity's mother and Curtis [TS]

00:12:51   Holt's yeah well that's fantastic [TS]

00:12:53   both of them are enthusiastic about [TS]

00:12:54   things and not mopey usually which I [TS]

00:12:57   love mom smokes so much I do she's the [TS]

00:13:00   greatest and i have i've enjoyed every [TS]

00:13:03   every episode she's been in the minute [TS]

00:13:05   she shows up on screen charlotte ross is [TS]

00:13:07   a pretty underrated player in this [TS]

00:13:08   university that's me [TS]

00:13:10   she's great and Jean Paul Blackthorne to [TS]

00:13:12   rr4 yeah that's all i can say is that [TS]

00:13:14   she even makes Paul Blackthorne is [TS]

00:13:16   character sort of interesting which for [TS]

00:13:19   me is a big thing because I i think they [TS]

00:13:21   should kill them off [TS]

00:13:22   couple seasons ago I find him when I [TS]

00:13:24   find him completely useless and boring i [TS]

00:13:26   hope maybe you know with with the the [TS]

00:13:28   Oliver Queen administration potentially [TS]

00:13:30   coming up in season five maybe they'll [TS]

00:13:32   give him something to do that will make [TS]

00:13:34   them interesting but as the cop on the [TS]

00:13:36   edge you skeptical of everything and [TS]

00:13:37   keeps getting into trouble [TS]

00:13:39   it's like his daughters keep getting [TS]

00:13:40   murdered yeah he has a heart condition [TS]

00:13:41   only when it's convenient I'm coming for [TS]

00:13:44   you [TS]

00:13:45   he's also the list of open topic in the [TS]

00:13:47   world record for the first few seasons [TS]

00:13:49   he's got a lot on his mind [TS]

00:13:52   uh-huh what he wasn't his daughters keep [TS]

00:13:54   getting killed me back in the day [TS]

00:13:55   beautiful beginning coming back from the [TS]

00:13:57   dead and becoming assassins and bringing [TS]

00:13:59   home girlfriends were heir to the dragon [TS]

00:14:01   and it's all good topic and its really [TS]

00:14:03   tough like I was gonna say that i'm [TS]

00:14:05   looking forward to season five I am [TS]

00:14:06   really kind of interested in the Oliver [TS]

00:14:08   as the mayor of Star City Art which i [TS]

00:14:11   believe was an Arsenal in the comics I [TS]

00:14:13   don't know I just like the idea of [TS]

00:14:15   balancing like we we got very little of [TS]

00:14:17   Oliver Queen this season like it really [TS]

00:14:19   was very centric on you know he is the [TS]

00:14:21   green arrow right that's his identity [TS]

00:14:24   and we didn't have to have been [TS]

00:14:25   balancing as much as he did in some of [TS]

00:14:27   the early seasons and I think this is a [TS]

00:14:29   new interesting and wrinkle for that how [TS]

00:14:31   do you fight crime and be the mayor I [TS]

00:14:33   love that the secret identity wrinkle of [TS]

00:14:35   like it's not just that he's a person [TS]

00:14:36   with a secret identity he's the mayor of [TS]

00:14:38   the city with and he's also a superhero [TS]

00:14:40   I bet that's where you get away with its [TS]

00:14:42   great hello I'm looking for the police [TS]

00:14:44   commissioner meetings where be running [TS]

00:14:45   against the light of your like I [TS]

00:14:47   promised your council meeting and police [TS]

00:14:50   scanner goes off near like guys can we [TS]

00:14:52   to table this 40 little bit i gotta go [TS]

00:14:55   but you have really specific crime stats [TS]

00:14:58   like this guy got married last night [TS]

00:14:59   like what you doing about that [TS]

00:15:01   yeah before we leave I will say I'm so [TS]

00:15:04   happy there's as much John Barrowman as [TS]

00:15:06   there is yeah always happy when he shows [TS]

00:15:08   up he's not even a villain anymore you [TS]

00:15:10   know released being Thea's father he's a [TS]

00:15:15   persistent nuisance more than anything [TS]

00:15:16   else which is enjoyable when he's a [TS]

00:15:19   special kind of helicopter parent [TS]

00:15:21   check the tiger mom little bit [TS]

00:15:26   alright let's move on and talk about the [TS]

00:15:27   flash than me at the arrows a parent [TS]

00:15:30   obviously the flash cast covered this [TS]

00:15:33   well episode by episode III I get the [TS]

00:15:37   sense from everybody that the general [TS]

00:15:39   feeling is that season 2 did not go as [TS]

00:15:41   well as season one did would that be [TS]

00:15:43   accurate to say what's our general when [TS]

00:15:46   i finish it [TS]

00:15:46   oh man that's generous [TS]

00:15:49   I have been thinking about this because [TS]

00:15:54   part of the problem is it's they didn't [TS]

00:15:57   have a very strong feeling this season [TS]

00:15:59   zoom was mostly incomprehensible and a [TS]

00:16:04   lot of his motivation was opaque and [TS]

00:16:06   best and I feel like this this season [TS]

00:16:10   was a lot of dropped potential and the [TS]

00:16:12   things that were already problems [TS]

00:16:14   emerging in season when we're not [TS]

00:16:16   addressed in season two for example the [TS]

00:16:18   flashes serious problems when characters [TS]

00:16:20   and it only got worse this year so it [TS]

00:16:22   was disappointing that way they didn't [TS]

00:16:24   have a good big bad and they try think [TS]

00:16:27   they bit off more than they could chew [TS]

00:16:28   with a bunch of the things that they [TS]

00:16:30   want to explore i enjoyed watching parts [TS]

00:16:33   and every episode but by the end of the [TS]

00:16:35   season I was like okay let's regroup [TS]

00:16:37   plus pullback whoever has been doing [TS]

00:16:39   double time on legends of tomorrow and [TS]

00:16:41   just give them one job and some to who [TS]

00:16:43   it was a sophomore slump and I blame [TS]

00:16:47   because i don't want to blame flash I [TS]

00:16:51   blame that sucky show legend very good [TS]

00:16:54   for screwing up a great show but who [TS]

00:16:58   knows [TS]

00:16:59   yeah I I early in the season I was [TS]

00:17:01   willing to chalk it up to legends of [TS]

00:17:04   tomorrow launching and that being a [TS]

00:17:05   problem but now you almost have to say [TS]

00:17:07   like did they was there a brain drain or [TS]

00:17:09   something that distracted them my and [TS]

00:17:11   I'm starting to think that's too that's [TS]

00:17:13   too much of an excuse that for me to [TS]

00:17:15   give to them that fact is a structural [TS]

00:17:17   issues there hmm [TS]

00:17:18   and we're pacing and a villain who to go [TS]

00:17:21   back to Damien dark villain unlike [TS]

00:17:22   Damien dark who it has no clear plan or [TS]

00:17:27   even maybe he just doesn't make sense in [TS]

00:17:29   fact they keep seeing kept him to change [TS]

00:17:31   what he was up to [TS]

00:17:32   he disappears for long he's very fast [TS]

00:17:35   you can be anywhere immediately but he [TS]

00:17:36   disappears for long stretches of time [TS]

00:17:38   where he seems to not be around only [TS]

00:17:41   because it's inconvenient for him to be [TS]

00:17:43   around and there's never any explanation [TS]

00:17:45   like I always I always said in our slack [TS]

00:17:47   channel he he's gets very hungry he goes [TS]

00:17:50   to buffalo wild wings he's watching [TS]

00:17:51   sports on the TV [TS]

00:17:52   it's like 80 plates wings and then he [TS]

00:17:54   comes back he doesn't dine and dash of [TS]

00:17:56   Buffalo one's the best explanation for [TS]

00:17:58   zoom is buffalo wild wings and that is a [TS]

00:18:00   problem is what i'm saying is also [TS]

00:18:02   inconvenient when he's around like in [TS]

00:18:04   that one episode where they have to make [TS]

00:18:05   the formula to steal Barry speed to give [TS]

00:18:07   to me to sit around watching do stuff [TS]

00:18:10   I'm a scientist who will just watching [TS]

00:18:13   science and about why i think that may [TS]

00:18:15   be the most awkward scene it was a [TS]

00:18:17   season where he was like i'm hanging out [TS]

00:18:19   i'll tell you something that may be the [TS]

00:18:21   same episode where he instructs his a [TS]

00:18:24   one of his villains to attack to kill [TS]

00:18:27   all the all the police jitters but don't [TS]

00:18:29   do it now do it we'll do it tonight [TS]

00:18:31   like why wait like what is there like [TS]

00:18:34   Derek enforcement community centers [TS]

00:18:36   where it's prime time you want the [TS]

00:18:38   ratings in primetime so you always just [TS]

00:18:40   there's so much about that that's just [TS]

00:18:42   so everything about zoom which is [TS]

00:18:43   battling an incomprehensible because the [TS]

00:18:45   very beginning [TS]

00:18:46   he's like yeah you're not a hero Barry [TS]

00:18:47   Allen he breaks his back and it's all [TS]

00:18:49   very dramatic and you're like oh this is [TS]

00:18:51   a guy with a real hate on for moral [TS]

00:18:53   codes but by like the last but by the [TS]

00:18:56   finale and you have too many dads and [TS]

00:18:58   I'm angry that you had a better [TS]

00:18:59   childhood and you turned out better than [TS]

00:19:01   I did and I'm going to kill your dad [TS]

00:19:03   because that will make you even like [TS]

00:19:05   wait what we turn them into a crazy [TS]

00:19:06   serial killer maybe I want you to be [TS]

00:19:09   evil or maybe I want to destroy the [TS]

00:19:11   universe it's unclear maybe just want [TS]

00:19:13   your skin maybe it's here [TS]

00:19:15   so here's the thing i think too much [TS]

00:19:16   stuff was put to service of the of the [TS]

00:19:19   twist right like of the they worked [TS]

00:19:21   really well in the first season where [TS]

00:19:23   they had the sort of lurking dramatic [TS]

00:19:25   irony of like and we all know that that [TS]

00:19:28   that Harrison wells is evil and that [TS]

00:19:31   slowly unfolded over the course of the [TS]

00:19:32   season and that works really well and [TS]

00:19:35   they felt like hey maybe like they want [TS]

00:19:37   to sort of the M night Shyamalan area of [TS]

00:19:38   like hey we need to twist and let's have [TS]

00:19:40   like they talked about the fact that [TS]

00:19:43   they like this is exactly what happened [TS]

00:19:45   to him last year but that doesn't really [TS]

00:19:47   observe them from trying to use the [TS]

00:19:49   exact same plot beats and so I think too [TS]

00:19:50   much was was made subservient to this [TS]

00:19:53   idea of like we want to set up this jay [TS]

00:19:54   garrick twist [TS]

00:19:56   iid feel like this was an idea they had [TS]

00:19:58   early on and then they just had to like [TS]

00:20:00   shove a lot of stuff into weird places [TS]

00:20:02   to make that what they thought make that [TS]

00:20:05   work [TS]

00:20:05   there's so many weird side tangent [TS]

00:20:08   states they take that make any sense I [TS]

00:20:10   think I kept waiting for there to be the [TS]

00:20:12   scene where it's like where he takes [TS]

00:20:13   Kayla and shows her the earth 111like [TS]

00:20:16   read a book in the oh yeah and the part [TS]

00:20:18   and that that never that never goes [TS]

00:20:20   anywhere that never makes any sense that [TS]

00:20:22   scene was just there so comic book [TS]

00:20:24   readers would go oh ok so Jay Garrick is [TS]

00:20:26   professor zoom then because that's 400 [TS]

00:20:29   all of his professor zoom so you're [TS]

00:20:30   tipping us off and that's just not fair [TS]

00:20:32   it's not fair at all that they that they [TS]

00:20:35   did that like there is no chance service [TS]

00:20:37   well there's street justice and I [TS]

00:20:40   there's only one guy that I know that [TS]

00:20:42   does street justice right so let's just [TS]

00:20:45   be honest it's daredevil but anyway the [TS]

00:20:49   UH so what what I want to praise some [TS]

00:20:51   things about the flash though because [TS]

00:20:52   although i think they could totally do [TS]

00:20:54   it on the on the ark in the villain what [TS]

00:20:57   I think they did well is in the [TS]

00:20:59   multiverse concept they did they had a [TS]

00:21:01   lot of fun playing with doppelgangers I [TS]

00:21:03   thought they did a really good job with [TS]

00:21:04   doppelgangers I thought they did a [TS]

00:21:05   fantastic creative job of giving Tom [TS]

00:21:08   Cavanagh different Harrison wells to [TS]

00:21:11   play he did a great job with the second [TS]

00:21:13   hair cells so great-looking character [TS]

00:21:15   from your thoughts MVP Tom Cavanagh hehe [TS]

00:21:17   really owned in season one you had the [TS]

00:21:19   evil Harrison wells who is friendly and [TS]

00:21:22   four season do they have the mean [TS]

00:21:24   Harrison wells who is good [TS]

00:21:26   and as long as they can keep trotting [TS]

00:21:28   tom cavanagh out i'm gonna be happy yeah [TS]

00:21:31   like incision to he learns how to be a [TS]

00:21:33   real boy in season 1 yards on is like I [TS]

00:21:35   didn't want to actually like you people [TS]

00:21:37   and that I I like Tom Cavanagh can play [TS]

00:21:41   the heck out of those scenes so he can [TS]

00:21:42   do is I really like Jesse Martin's work [TS]

00:21:45   this season and I liked when they [TS]

00:21:48   introduced the son he never knew he had [TS]

00:21:50   and although the the street racing plot [TS]

00:21:53   was really dumb like really dumb AI I [TS]

00:21:57   think after all these weird weirdish [TS]

00:21:59   introduction I like that things were [TS]

00:22:01   awkward with him and bury it first i [TS]

00:22:02   like how to become less so until by the [TS]

00:22:04   end while he's like no we're part of the [TS]

00:22:06   same family and I liked that a lot [TS]

00:22:08   I still feel like irises is just nobody [TS]

00:22:12   in the writers miss adopt you know I [TS]

00:22:14   look it's so first I'll idea i watch the [TS]

00:22:17   show every week with my girlfriend and [TS]

00:22:18   she is incensed every weekend likes to [TS]

00:22:21   point out every week the flaws in that [TS]

00:22:22   and and and you know to give credit when [TS]

00:22:25   they do occasionally do a good job she [TS]

00:22:28   liked in particular I think the episode [TS]

00:22:30   is the second time that he's lost his [TS]

00:22:32   speed the one with the zombie girder [TS]

00:22:34   yeah yeah like they actually that was [TS]

00:22:38   like one of the better episodes this [TS]

00:22:40   season I felt like and she felt that the [TS]

00:22:42   they actually gave her you know agency [TS]

00:22:44   and stuff to do in that episode also the [TS]

00:22:47   episode her doppelganger in particular I [TS]

00:22:49   feel like was a lot of fun so IE but [TS]

00:22:52   overall both her and caitlin who is just [TS]

00:22:56   you know Caitlin just perennial like her [TS]

00:22:58   love interest is going to be evil / [TS]

00:23:00   murdered his boyfriend is the drummer of [TS]

00:23:05   spinal tap [TS]

00:23:06   iris fundamentally she and Barry were [TS]

00:23:10   raised as brother and sister she can't [TS]

00:23:12   be the love interest that gross stop it [TS]

00:23:17   the flash is supposed to be a happy for [TS]

00:23:19   color cheerful world [TS]

00:23:22   yeah i agree with hand do the hat and [TS]

00:23:25   iris loses all of her her agency and [TS]

00:23:27   other there's that terrible scene where [TS]

00:23:29   she and Caitlin are talking and it is [TS]

00:23:31   the anti back l test scene because all [TS]

00:23:33   they're talking about is Barry they have [TS]

00:23:35   all this other stuff going on [TS]

00:23:36   and literally what iris is saying is [TS]

00:23:38   well you know I've always sort of been [TS]

00:23:40   vaguely interested in Barry but not but [TS]

00:23:43   now that I've seen that in parallel [TS]

00:23:44   universes and potential futures we're [TS]

00:23:46   together I guess I should just give up [TS]

00:23:48   and settle for bearing it's like it's [TS]

00:23:52   like the word [TS]

00:23:53   futurama episode it's awful like I hate [TS]

00:23:56   that she's like well since somebody saw [TS]

00:23:58   holographic newspaper where I had a [TS]

00:24:00   different byline back from this parallel [TS]

00:24:03   universe when told me that I'm married [TS]

00:24:05   to Baron were apparently quite happy [TS]

00:24:07   like I iris your reporter check the [TS]

00:24:10   primary sources and just yeah she's such [TS]

00:24:12   a great reporter that she dates her boss [TS]

00:24:14   lady oh oh my god that was the worst [TS]

00:24:18   then i will drop that is a little strong [TS]

00:24:22   have to work this out it's awful because [TS]

00:24:24   the boss is the one who is egregiously [TS]

00:24:26   inappropriate like all the way down the [TS]

00:24:27   line like he crosses the line at every [TS]

00:24:29   opportunity [TS]

00:24:30   oh I was unaware this is an actual [TS]

00:24:31   legitimate professional conversation I [TS]

00:24:33   thought that we were here so i could put [TS]

00:24:34   the moves on you and as if that's not [TS]

00:24:36   bad enough the end of the episode [TS]

00:24:37   wouldn't mind if you made a pass at me [TS]

00:24:40   with no yeah no yeah no it's not good [TS]

00:24:43   what do you mean let me all right let me [TS]

00:24:45   make this suggestion for season 3 what [TS]

00:24:46   if we just somehow like what if this [TS]

00:24:48   Irish mr. Lee goes mysteriously goes [TS]

00:24:50   missing and we get earth to Iris over [TS]

00:24:52   here and it's like okay look you saw a [TS]

00:24:54   lot of problems she wasn't raised with [TS]

00:24:55   Barry so they can be love interest [TS]

00:24:57   except that she's gonna miss her husband [TS]

00:24:59   Barry whatever here we can you tell [TS]

00:25:01   stories based on the way back to his [TS]

00:25:03   home wanna look like it's like the Black [TS]

00:25:05   Canary play where the first black canary [TS]

00:25:07   actually like in the widow danbury [TS]

00:25:09   that's how she felt so here's one of the [TS]

00:25:12   things that I think is interesting about [TS]

00:25:13   about the flash and arrow arrow arrow is [TS]

00:25:16   a show where they don't have any mentors [TS]

00:25:18   right he always out there doing it [TS]

00:25:20   himself [TS]

00:25:21   chinese dude from the eye with Felicity [TS]

00:25:22   and you have the island with Felicity [TS]

00:25:25   and with a with Diggle he's got he's got [TS]

00:25:28   a good support system who works with him [TS]

00:25:30   on the flash it's different it's a [TS]

00:25:32   different scenario he's got his dad's as [TS]

00:25:35   lisa says my three dads science dead and [TS]

00:25:38   police dad in prison dad who became [TS]

00:25:40   released from prison log cabin and then [TS]

00:25:43   dead dad [TS]

00:25:43   rolling stone dead dad but that but so [TS]

00:25:48   sad but I some and that part of the show [TS]

00:25:51   I think works great right i mean we'd [TS]

00:25:53   see Tom Cavanagh and jesse l martin [TS]

00:25:55   again they're like the MVPs of that show [TS]

00:25:57   I really anchor the grant gustin's Barry [TS]

00:25:59   Allen it's really good [TS]

00:26:00   the problem with the flash is that they [TS]

00:26:02   have some issues with a lot of the [TS]

00:26:04   supporting characters they've done some [TS]

00:26:05   good rehab on cisco who got who got some [TS]

00:26:07   five powers this year and that was [TS]

00:26:09   really good but yea Kaitlyn and iris are [TS]

00:26:12   our in trouble and it means that again [TS]

00:26:16   yes what we've got is if I Jesse quick [TS]

00:26:18   actually I thought was a more [TS]

00:26:19   interesting and had a female character [TS]

00:26:21   with depth then the two characters that [TS]

00:26:23   we had for two seasons now which is [TS]

00:26:25   painful [TS]

00:26:26   so I don't know what they're gonna do [TS]

00:26:27   next season i hope they get it i hope [TS]

00:26:29   they get it back together because it [TS]

00:26:30   when that show is fun and happy it is [TS]

00:26:34   the best and I I don't know quite why [TS]

00:26:36   they went so far off the ground what if [TS]

00:26:37   so much me reset everything and start [TS]

00:26:39   over [TS]

00:26:40   hmm again love it Tony I love it I love [TS]

00:26:45   that idea let's do that because remember [TS]

00:26:48   everything you've been talking about [TS]

00:26:50   especially Jason you have talked about [TS]

00:26:52   everything that we liked about season [TS]

00:26:55   one in fair the things that we loved [TS]

00:26:57   about season one how would you feel [TS]

00:26:59   about just watching a season that's all [TS]

00:27:01   of season one but Barry doesn't have any [TS]

00:27:03   powers [TS]

00:27:04   I don't think I want to do that is you [TS]

00:27:06   don't want to do it either but every [TS]

00:27:08   scene is the same so it's just running [TS]

00:27:10   at you i appreciate its just a [TS]

00:27:11   procedural will jog a lot doesn't seem [TS]

00:27:14   like maybe the part of the at the very [TS]

00:27:16   end of this season was intended as like [TS]

00:27:19   oh crap we just wrote herself into a [TS]

00:27:21   terrible season let's just quick pull [TS]

00:27:23   the ripcord that the one thing that [TS]

00:27:26   makes the flash appealing to me is that [TS]

00:27:27   they're willing to go for it like I felt [TS]

00:27:29   like that in season one where they were [TS]

00:27:30   like okay I don't know what we're [TS]

00:27:32   supposed to do [TS]

00:27:34   alright hit the big red button for [TS]

00:27:36   alternate universes already but no hit [TS]

00:27:38   boom go crazy for me that Cisco's role [TS]

00:27:41   on the show is he's there to remind [TS]

00:27:43   people this is a full-on comic book show [TS]

00:27:46   we're going nuts as often as possible [TS]

00:27:48   which is kind of way I still enjoy the [TS]

00:27:52   flash more than arrow where it took them [TS]

00:27:54   four season to say what we [TS]

00:27:56   just call him green arrow right people [TS]

00:27:59   after us [TS]

00:28:00   there's a build all right let's uh let's [TS]

00:28:03   move on from the Berlin diverse for a [TS]

00:28:05   little while and go to some other real [TS]

00:28:06   returning shows some shows that are not [TS]

00:28:09   not not new in the past year [TS]

00:28:11   let's check in before we before we leave [TS]

00:28:14   the DC Comics world behind [TS]

00:28:16   let's check in with Gotham on Fox [TS]

00:28:20   hey I haven't I gave up on and season [TS]

00:28:22   one I heard a lot of people say season [TS]

00:28:24   two is better [TS]

00:28:25   who out there is seen Gotham and would [TS]

00:28:26   like to talk about Gotham i have a [TS]

00:28:28   healthy relationship with all Batman [TS]

00:28:30   properties [TS]

00:28:31   hello Tony simple hi Tony hi I'm still [TS]

00:28:35   watching off them I it's actually it's [TS]

00:28:38   better I don't know why I stayed with it [TS]

00:28:40   but I think they look up i'm glad to [TS]

00:28:42   stop punishing before that [TS]

00:28:44   yeah it's not as many shows in the next [TS]

00:28:47   season [TS]

00:28:47   some of the shows that it continues to [TS]

00:28:49   be are actually covered wagon fun [TS]

00:28:51   uh yeah and i think it may have found [TS]

00:28:54   it's a it's group [TS]

00:28:55   I'm i would i'm interested to see where [TS]

00:28:57   it's going it's it it is not the crazy [TS]

00:29:00   garbage file instead it is like it's a [TS]

00:29:03   spectacular train wreck a train wreck is [TS]

00:29:05   on Rails the first half of this season I [TS]

00:29:07   thought was still not fantastic but [TS]

00:29:09   sometimes they came back after like that [TS]

00:29:11   midseason hiatus and I really felt like [TS]

00:29:13   they had like.we we picked the lane [TS]

00:29:15   basically like we've decided which of [TS]

00:29:17   eight million different shows that we [TS]

00:29:19   want to be [TS]

00:29:20   we're going to focus on this thing [TS]

00:29:21   everything was kind of related which [TS]

00:29:23   actually really helped everything sort [TS]

00:29:25   of focus around this idea of Arkham [TS]

00:29:27   Asylum and Hugo Strange and that really [TS]

00:29:30   unified a lot of storylines brought a [TS]

00:29:32   lot of characters into contact to rather [TS]

00:29:34   than having them all off in their [TS]

00:29:35   different stories beauty wang as he's [TS]

00:29:39   rangy on about a very dark he was [TS]

00:29:42   fantastic yeah it's really good [TS]

00:29:43   another good scenery-chewing I continue [TS]

00:29:46   to enjoy Harvey Bullock i will always [TS]

00:29:49   enjoy Donal Logue pretty much anything [TS]

00:29:51   he does he's great he has i really [TS]

00:29:53   enjoyed the AV club reviews of him just [TS]

00:29:55   have every week eh nevermind the [TS]

00:29:57   Bullock's section where they just have [TS]

00:29:58   his wacky his quote of the week they [TS]

00:30:00   really cut back on this season though [TS]

00:30:02   didn't they yeah yeah a little sad but [TS]

00:30:05   he's still around which is good [TS]

00:30:08   and i enjoy i also enjoy Sean Pertwee is [TS]

00:30:11   as Alfred I really and he's kind of an [TS]

00:30:14   easy very different Alfred I think from [TS]

00:30:15   the one that were used to and he's he's [TS]

00:30:17   definitely fun to watch especially [TS]

00:30:18   there's some episode we got into like a [TS]

00:30:19   like a street fight with a guy named was [TS]

00:30:23   eating my cupcake or something yes it [TS]

00:30:25   was amazing that was a really great [TS]

00:30:27   upset one thing that I have enjoyed [TS]

00:30:29   about this season is that at [TS]

00:30:31   in the first episode in the pilot [TS]

00:30:33   episode of Gotham you saw the Riddler [TS]

00:30:35   and he was introduced by saying [TS]

00:30:38   essentially hi I'm Edward nigga [TS]

00:30:41   riddle me this I enjoy your rental is [TS]

00:30:43   going to turn into I liked him in season [TS]

00:30:46   one that I thought he was overdoing it [TS]

00:30:48   season one in season two I love that guy [TS]

00:30:50   he is so great now there's a scene [TS]

00:30:53   towards the end of the season where [TS]

00:30:56   selina kyle is breaking into Arkham [TS]

00:30:58   Asylum while he's trying to break out [TS]

00:31:01   and they're both in the vents and they [TS]

00:31:03   bump into each other and they don't [TS]

00:31:04   really know each other so he's like your [TS]

00:31:06   that cat burglar girl she's like your [TS]

00:31:09   that police forensics guy do you know [TS]

00:31:11   where you're going [TS]

00:31:12   uh yeah over there okay well see ya and [TS]

00:31:16   it's such a fun scene i enjoy when he [TS]

00:31:18   gets caught red-handed trying to dig up [TS]

00:31:21   a corpse in the woods [TS]

00:31:23   yeah and it's just like I crap yep he's [TS]

00:31:27   great [TS]

00:31:28   penguin is great at this point I really [TS]

00:31:30   enjoyed penguin penguin sidekick butch [TS]

00:31:33   yes is really great like there's a lot [TS]

00:31:36   of really fun villains on the show which [TS]

00:31:38   is what you want what I want [TS]

00:31:40   well in the the sort of guy I thought [TS]

00:31:42   that the whole introduction of theo [TS]

00:31:44   galavan in the first half of the season [TS]

00:31:45   was kind of weak and then they basically [TS]

00:31:48   like off him and then bring him back as [TS]

00:31:51   as rail which is super weird but also [TS]

00:31:54   kind of hilarious [TS]

00:31:56   yeah well one thing that's great about [TS]

00:31:57   Hugo Strange was he was bringing people [TS]

00:31:59   back to life and he was brainwashing [TS]

00:32:02   people and you realize he's actually [TS]

00:32:04   pretty bad at this [TS]

00:32:06   like he was brainwashing people to be to [TS]

00:32:09   no longer be sociopaths and sending them [TS]

00:32:11   out into the world and inside of two [TS]

00:32:12   scenes they're like oh wait no I and I'm [TS]

00:32:15   a sociopath nevermind science is not an [TS]

00:32:17   exact science [TS]

00:32:18   I think I've got weird and fun sometime [TS]

00:32:24   during the second season I'm gonna have [TS]

00:32:26   to go watch it now yeah I was also happy [TS]

00:32:28   because i thought at the start of season [TS]

00:32:30   two like oh it looks like they might do [TS]

00:32:32   the court of owls and then it looks like [TS]

00:32:33   they wouldn't and now it looks like they [TS]

00:32:35   did it again so if you've read the [TS]

00:32:36   comics that's extra excited i will say [TS]

00:32:38   my least favorite part of the show is [TS]

00:32:39   Bruce Wayne it partly some Batman's in [TS]

00:32:42   it [TS]

00:32:42   nobody young Bruce Wayne is like 13 show [TS]

00:32:45   oh and the problem is that he keeps [TS]

00:32:47   wanting to go to bat many things like [TS]

00:32:49   I'm gonna go to live on the streets so i [TS]

00:32:51   know what it's like out there like [TS]

00:32:53   understand crime now it says well young [TS]

00:32:57   master Bruce you work for [TS]

00:33:00   I work for you so even though I'm your [TS]

00:33:01   legal guardian I can't stop you boy [TS]

00:33:04   well and I think that the fundamental [TS]

00:33:05   problem this show as I think I mentioned [TS]

00:33:06   last season is a if the show ends with [TS]

00:33:09   Bruce Wayne becoming Batman then [TS]

00:33:11   fundamentally nothing in this show has [TS]

00:33:12   really mattered because if the whole [TS]

00:33:16   point is like you know your focus they [TS]

00:33:17   spend so much time focused on Jim Gordon [TS]

00:33:19   and Jim Gordon's attempt to sort of like [TS]

00:33:21   clean up the city when in fact it's [TS]

00:33:22   really just about the downward spiral [TS]

00:33:23   and corruption it was not he's not doing [TS]

00:33:26   a great job [TS]

00:33:26   no Jim Gordon has one of the weaker [TS]

00:33:29   storylines this year and also liked his [TS]

00:33:32   career doesn't make any sense [TS]

00:33:33   well he doesn't have a career he's been [TS]

00:33:35   in jail a couple of times and he just [TS]

00:33:37   quit and left town also a baby [TS]

00:33:39   it does make me a little concerned that [TS]

00:33:40   by the time in the Gotham you universe [TS]

00:33:43   when Bruce Wayne actually becomes Batman [TS]

00:33:45   like all of his villains are like elder [TS]

00:33:47   later their way to elderly to really be [TS]

00:33:49   success maybe maybe Jim Gordon will [TS]

00:33:51   become Batman for a while here I know [TS]

00:33:54   that happened the comics reason Alex [TS]

00:33:55   yeah that there's no need for Batman in [TS]

00:33:57   this world this Riddler is not so subtle [TS]

00:34:00   that they need a supergenius to solve [TS]

00:34:03   what he's saying let's uh let's leave [TS]

00:34:05   Gotham behind although I am intrigued by [TS]

00:34:06   the fact that that it got better and [TS]

00:34:09   talk about some of the Marvel properties [TS]

00:34:10   agents of shield for its what is this [TS]

00:34:13   the fourth season of asians you [TS]

00:34:15   something like that feels right and then [TS]

00:34:17   we'll we'll talk about season two basic [TS]

00:34:19   agent Carter to so ages of shield [TS]

00:34:21   yeah uh how was yet how how was it how [TS]

00:34:25   was that iíve seen the first half of [TS]

00:34:27   the season and I haven't seen the second [TS]

00:34:28   half yet but you know don't worry about [TS]

00:34:30   me but I'm just kind of curious how [TS]

00:34:32   how do people think think it went and [TS]

00:34:34   had some really good scenes [TS]

00:34:37   overall it felt weird it's disappointing [TS]

00:34:39   because kyle maclachlan was no longer on [TS]

00:34:41   the show being awesome right [TS]

00:34:44   but for instance they wrote the [TS]

00:34:46   characters are hunter and Bobbi off the [TS]

00:34:47   show because they thought they were [TS]

00:34:49   going to get a spin-off spin-off we [TS]

00:34:52   didn't get twice I think [TS]

00:34:55   yeah but the scene where they've been [TS]

00:34:58   disavowed and this time for real and no [TS]

00:35:01   one can never talk to them again that [TS]

00:35:03   episode ended with a really really good [TS]

00:35:05   scene [TS]

00:35:06   totally agree where they're turned Bobby [TS]

00:35:09   ran a bar they look around they see [TS]

00:35:11   every other member of the team and they [TS]

00:35:13   all raised their glasses [TS]

00:35:14   yeah it's it's funny because then if you [TS]

00:35:16   decide because they didn't get a [TS]

00:35:18   spin-off that they need to be back on [TS]

00:35:20   the show walking that scene back really [TS]

00:35:22   cheap and spit [TS]

00:35:23   yeah just suck those tears baby i gave [TS]

00:35:27   up on the show halfway through the [TS]

00:35:28   season so I just say it does seem like [TS]

00:35:30   it took them three and a half years to [TS]

00:35:34   get to embrace the fact that [TS]

00:35:35   super-powered people were were were part [TS]

00:35:39   of the universe like this was the sort [TS]

00:35:41   of like what we're saying that Gotham [TS]

00:35:42   it's like hey you know what's great [TS]

00:35:43   about the Marvel Cinematic Universe not [TS]

00:35:45   the superhero part and uh but finally [TS]

00:35:49   with with shield day they sort of [TS]

00:35:52   embrace that with the Inhumans plot and [TS]

00:35:54   having a sky / daisy you know have her [TS]

00:35:59   wrists Daisy [TS]

00:35:59   however I yeah I know but for those who [TS]

00:36:01   gave up which is half of the people she [TS]

00:36:04   used to be skyping another color Daisy [TS]

00:36:06   because love character laundering she's [TS]

00:36:08   got earthquake power i strongly believe [TS]

00:36:10   that you call someone by the name they [TS]

00:36:12   wish to be called her name is Stacy [TS]

00:36:13   Johnson yes it is actually [TS]

00:36:15   I that was actually an interesting plot [TS]

00:36:17   line as some characters kept forgetting [TS]

00:36:19   that you didn't matter at her [TS]

00:36:21   yes and when she went to grant Ward who [TS]

00:36:25   is now dead and possessed by an ancient [TS]

00:36:28   evil alien inhuman that maybe the recent [TS]

00:36:31   hydro was formed in the first place or [TS]

00:36:33   possibly not that seems like a stretch [TS]

00:36:35   that they pulled back he kept calling [TS]

00:36:37   her sky and even though she was now [TS]

00:36:41   brainwashed by him she kept correcting [TS]

00:36:43   which I thought was really fun I i did [TS]

00:36:45   like that episode and I know a lot of [TS]

00:36:46   people praise that there was that [TS]

00:36:47   episode that it focuses on the the on [TS]

00:36:52   the alien planet where they wear [TS]

00:36:55   yeah was it isn't Simmons is trapped in [TS]

00:36:57   the alien planet with the astronaut and [TS]

00:36:59   there's a monster and it was a nice [TS]

00:37:01   change of the blue the blue planet the [TS]

00:37:02   planet where there's never any Sun it's [TS]

00:37:03   just blue light all the time i was at [TS]

00:37:06   the soul [TS]

00:37:07   yeah i was a really great yeah it's hard [TS]

00:37:10   to mean obviously it's hard to pull off [TS]

00:37:12   something like that every single week [TS]

00:37:13   because it's you know specifically set [TS]

00:37:15   up to like break the formula sure but it [TS]

00:37:18   is really nice that they've shown the [TS]

00:37:20   confidence to be able to do that I think [TS]

00:37:21   some of the action scenes came up with [TS]

00:37:23   this this year I think they did a nice [TS]

00:37:25   job with some of those especially adding [TS]

00:37:27   the powers into the mix there's a pretty [TS]

00:37:28   good fight later on that involves the [TS]

00:37:31   easy using her powers which is a pretty [TS]

00:37:34   is really really well choreographed [TS]

00:37:35   there's a couple nice twists and turns [TS]

00:37:38   in terms of like sort of how they deal [TS]

00:37:42   with the eventual villain problems and [TS]

00:37:45   like managed to tie up like another plot [TS]

00:37:47   line at the same time and I think that [TS]

00:37:50   there's there's some solid character [TS]

00:37:52   work here and there from i really like [TS]

00:37:54   mac i know he is not the most popular [TS]

00:37:56   characters but I really is not him he's [TS]

00:37:59   great i know a lot of people who don't [TS]

00:38:00   like him but I i really enjoy him [TS]

00:38:02   especially was right yeah it's ongoing [TS]

00:38:04   quest for a shotgun x which he got in [TS]

00:38:08   the final episode that looks grote he [TS]

00:38:10   gets one earlier on that he's just like [TS]

00:38:11   tapes and ax ya shotgun is pretty great [TS]

00:38:14   too [TS]

00:38:14   that was really that like you should [TS]

00:38:16   really liked that episode with him and [TS]

00:38:17   his brother I thought that was a good [TS]

00:38:18   episode [TS]

00:38:19   yeah I'm so there's some really solid [TS]

00:38:20   character kits it's an uneven show in [TS]

00:38:22   some ways and it doesn't quite hit the [TS]

00:38:24   the lows or the highs that's a Gotham [TS]

00:38:27   hits like atoms like wildly uneven and [TS]

00:38:31   agent agent of shield I think waivers a [TS]

00:38:33   little more like a little less from that [TS]

00:38:35   center line right like it's it's may not [TS]

00:38:37   be quite as good but it's also [TS]

00:38:39   definitely not quite as like terrible [TS]

00:38:40   and its first moments see and Dan [TS]

00:38:43   I've caught you know what you said is [TS]

00:38:45   perfect is the unevenness and I've said [TS]

00:38:48   this before have caught heat for it [TS]

00:38:50   which is that Marvel agents of shield [TS]

00:38:53   which is a weird name but is essentially [TS]

00:38:58   a kind of a carry through or a you know [TS]

00:39:02   a little bit of a booster for any Marvel [TS]

00:39:05   main movie like for example this season [TS]

00:39:09   was Civil War right which doesn't it [TS]

00:39:12   doesn't good like find itself is [TS]

00:39:13   beholding as much as it did say first [TS]

00:39:15   season with winter soldier where was [TS]

00:39:17   like really show it just like tank its [TS]

00:39:20   first half because it felt like it had [TS]

00:39:21   to be there for that twist and twist was [TS]

00:39:23   awesome but the show before that was [TS]

00:39:25   very mediocre and it doesn't it hasn't [TS]

00:39:28   hit quite as much to that in the [TS]

00:39:29   subsequent seasons I think they realize [TS]

00:39:31   that's problematic but the other problem [TS]

00:39:33   is as the even the lead i believe Chloe [TS]

00:39:35   Bennet said recently like doesn't seem [TS]

00:39:37   like the movies care at all about what [TS]

00:39:39   happens on the shows and that's it's [TS]

00:39:41   definitely uncomfortable when you feel [TS]

00:39:44   like why did you make this such a big [TS]

00:39:46   part of your whole I transmedia property [TS]

00:39:48   if you're not going to make it matter at [TS]

00:39:49   all [TS]

00:39:49   yeah that was a huge problem for me [TS]

00:39:51   because in civil war there's a lot of [TS]

00:39:53   talk danger i want to talk about a giant [TS]

00:39:55   movie there's a lot of talks among the [TS]

00:39:57   bad things that superheroes do and [TS]

00:40:00   nobody mentions the word in human which [TS]

00:40:03   is weird because according to the [TS]

00:40:05   television show in humans are the most [TS]

00:40:08   important thing anybody talks about and [TS]

00:40:10   the president of the united states is [TS]

00:40:12   constantly giving press conference to [TS]

00:40:13   talk about the inhuman problem [TS]

00:40:15   yeah oh yeah the movies don't mention [TS]

00:40:17   anything that happens on the TV show in [TS]

00:40:20   practical terms because the movies and [TS]

00:40:23   TV shows are now being operated by [TS]

00:40:25   different groups essentially the Marvel [TS]

00:40:28   TV shows have sheared off from the [TS]

00:40:30   Marvel movies and they're not even in [TS]

00:40:32   the same universe anymore and joss [TS]

00:40:33   whedon said with age of Ultron that uh [TS]

00:40:36   as far as he was concerned you know that [TS]

00:40:39   that Coulson was dead in age of Ultron [TS]

00:40:41   yeah well except that every time a movie [TS]

00:40:44   comes out they have to spend half of the [TS]

00:40:46   next eight next episode of agents of [TS]

00:40:48   shield talking about the milk [TS]

00:40:51   yeah so they keep kept turning to each [TS]

00:40:53   other and saying how about that sakova [TS]

00:40:54   an accord huh i know right and the [TS]

00:40:57   netflix unity netflix series for [TS]

00:41:00   whatever you know you basically get to [TS]

00:41:02   do their own thing completely which is I [TS]

00:41:03   think fine like you know because the [TS]

00:41:05   Netflix series have done a good job of [TS]

00:41:06   remaining like they're very [TS]

00:41:07   geographically limited and so you feel [TS]

00:41:10   like maybe the stuff there doesn't [TS]

00:41:12   doesn't make the headlines as much [TS]

00:41:13   worldwide necessarily yeah well that the [TS]

00:41:16   Netflix shows have the sense to stay [TS]

00:41:18   restrained in their power level that [TS]

00:41:21   yeah it right there Monty and that's [TS]

00:41:24   what I meant by arrow punching above its [TS]

00:41:25   weight [TS]

00:41:26   yeah most of the Netflix series stay [TS]

00:41:28   within their presence of specific [TS]

00:41:31   atmosphere [TS]

00:41:32   yeah yeah I agree so let's try my agent [TS]

00:41:35   Carter season 2 and final of agent [TS]

00:41:38   Carter i but what people think of of [TS]

00:41:41   this one I love the show [TS]

00:41:43   yes seconded third fourth i lost count [TS]

00:41:46   the motion carries okay shouldn't have [TS]

00:41:48   gotten caso resolved it is by the [TS]

00:41:50   uncomfortable that the agent Carter is [TS]

00:41:51   good and thus cancelled [TS]

00:41:54   to be fair it does require expensive [TS]

00:41:56   vintage cars and cool out short out have [TS]

00:42:00   to do a period TV show [TS]

00:42:01   yeah which is fantastic by the way exist [TS]

00:42:04   for a reason you can get all sorts of [TS]

00:42:05   vintage crap for cheap on the internet [TS]

00:42:07   like Marvel's agents of etsy would [TS]

00:42:10   totally watch that show [TS]

00:42:11   actually it's the best-looking TV show [TS]

00:42:14   out there you know those people who make [TS]

00:42:16   those those tactical uniforms that [TS]

00:42:18   they're running around every week on [TS]

00:42:19   agents of shield they totally have some [TS]

00:42:21   mad craft skills they're probably [TS]

00:42:22   secretly funding the organization [TS]

00:42:23   through an etsy shop the agent Carter [TS]

00:42:25   ratings weren't very good and I I [TS]

00:42:27   totally get that although I i do wonder [TS]

00:42:29   if this wouldn't have been a better [TS]

00:42:30   netflix kind of show given the short run [TS]

00:42:32   and the fact that it's a period piece [TS]

00:42:34   and all of those things and I get why [TS]

00:42:35   not everybody's gonna want to watch a [TS]

00:42:37   period piece about a about a secret [TS]

00:42:39   agent in the Marvel Universe but oh well [TS]

00:42:42   I think it should have been a Netflix [TS]

00:42:44   show i think that would have been great [TS]

00:42:45   i think they did a lot of things right [TS]

00:42:47   the season I thought the transplant to [TS]

00:42:48   LA was a lot of fun [TS]

00:42:50   it definitely like you know added some [TS]

00:42:53   pep to the show there were some like [TS]

00:42:55   conspiracy stuff going on Hayley Atwell [TS]

00:42:58   is fantastic i really enjoyed James [TS]

00:43:01   D'Arcy as well as [TS]

00:43:03   Edmund Jarvis I liked his wife they had [TS]

00:43:06   a lot of great supporting character [TS]

00:43:07   named Whitney Frost was a fun villain [TS]

00:43:09   like Howard Stark is awesome I really do [TS]

00:43:11   enjoy him yeah he acquired by Howard [TS]

00:43:13   Stark is gone now he's off somewhere [TS]

00:43:15   else doing another comic book show [TS]

00:43:17   yeah but they I mean there are a lot of [TS]

00:43:20   great ingredients here I'm kind of one [TS]

00:43:22   of those shows there are a lot of shows [TS]

00:43:23   i watch and I'm like okay I can see why [TS]

00:43:25   maybe that didn't catch on [TS]

00:43:26   I'm kind of baffled by this one I think [TS]

00:43:28   you know and Jason's reasons are as good [TS]

00:43:30   as any for why that's the case but it [TS]

00:43:32   does just seemed like this was far and [TS]

00:43:33   away the best comic book show on [TS]

00:43:35   broadcast when you told me the show got [TS]

00:43:37   canceled and that Gotham was like the [TS]

00:43:41   one of the more popular shows on the [TS]

00:43:42   channel of him [TS]

00:43:43   I thought you were like like this like [TS]

00:43:45   this is a trick I'm being set up for [TS]

00:43:47   some kind of all that time turning 40 [TS]

00:43:51   troll I what what is wrong with the [TS]

00:43:53   world people look I believe that isn't [TS]

00:43:56   it does not does not compute [TS]

00:43:58   i will briefly say that I have finally [TS]

00:44:00   forgiven the show for having a waitress [TS]

00:44:03   who worked at an automat she I like that [TS]

00:44:08   you they do a nice job of that one [TS]

00:44:09   episode she's in a dream sequence yeah I [TS]

00:44:12   actually really enjoyed that with the [TS]

00:44:13   singing and the dancing it was fun like [TS]

00:44:16   yeah the show was good i enjoyed the [TS]

00:44:18   brief appearances of Dottie Underwood i [TS]

00:44:20   love Dottie Underwood be so everytime up [TS]

00:44:22   with her and having her still be County [TS]

00:44:25   evil yeah great [TS]

00:44:26   I just shows where is the green that's [TS]

00:44:28   the fight choreography on agent Carter [TS]

00:44:31   is the best fight choreography I'm say [TS]

00:44:34   of the broadcast comic Claire you're [TS]

00:44:36   always been asked i would agree with [TS]

00:44:37   there you go there you go there you go [TS]

00:44:39   they used to fight styles of each [TS]

00:44:41   character to convey who they were when [TS]

00:44:44   you had Peggy Carter fighting she's [TS]

00:44:47   straightforward punches you in the face [TS]

00:44:49   to grab something heavy she whacks you [TS]

00:44:51   with it but then when she's facing daddy [TS]

00:44:53   who was trained by the Black Widow [TS]

00:44:55   school like the Tosh Romanov in the [TS]

00:44:57   Avengers she's doing all sorts of weird [TS]

00:44:59   flips and running up walls and stuff and [TS]

00:45:02   I really like that thought was put into [TS]

00:45:05   not just how do we make this fight look [TS]

00:45:06   cool but how would each of these [TS]

00:45:08   characters fight and we got like a [TS]

00:45:12   Daniel [TS]

00:45:13   got his last name now you know who's got [TS]

00:45:16   like a cane and so has to let hit people [TS]

00:45:18   with the cane [TS]

00:45:20   I don't know yeah they do a really good [TS]

00:45:21   job of tailoring all those scenes i [TS]

00:45:23   really enjoyed the the episode where [TS]

00:45:25   they have to break into the lab where [TS]

00:45:27   the bomb is and they had they recruit [TS]

00:45:29   sort of the terrible misfit like group [TS]

00:45:32   of people because i can't tell anybody [TS]

00:45:33   and so they've got like this the Science [TS]

00:45:36   Guy and the secretary from the lakefront [TS]

00:45:40   yeah when you mentioned fighting styles [TS]

00:45:42   actually something that came to mind [TS]

00:45:43   which is Marvel's daredevil which had [TS]

00:45:45   season two on netflix which I think [TS]

00:45:47   similarly did a good job at having sort [TS]

00:45:50   of different fighting styles for [TS]

00:45:51   different different characters also [TS]

00:45:53   there were lots of ninjas boy [TS]

00:45:56   yeah and-and-and some you know I i wear [TS]

00:46:00   down now the TV podcast about daredevil [TS]

00:46:02   is still going on so I don't want to [TS]

00:46:04   give away any spoilers about how [TS]

00:46:05   everything is going to feel about let's [TS]

00:46:07   do it let's go ahead and spoil some [TS]

00:46:09   things because you know Jason that you [TS]

00:46:11   and I were going to talk about this [TS]

00:46:13   yep we still are we're gonna it's gonna [TS]

00:46:15   happen right we're gonna talk about you [TS]

00:46:17   know daredevil I'm gonna say you know [TS]

00:46:20   above most people i'm a big fan boy to [TS]

00:46:23   daredevil so in my mind he can't do any [TS]

00:46:26   wrong however this is season it's like [TS]

00:46:31   I've been kind of shot through the heart [TS]

00:46:33   to x by the punisher yeah that the [TS]

00:46:37   punisher was probably one of the coolest [TS]

00:46:39   things in this one which is so weird [TS]

00:46:42   this and that's the sign over there like [TS]

00:46:44   all the punisher is cool and he's right [TS]

00:46:45   I agree yeah I agree [TS]

00:46:47   the pleasure was handled with great care [TS]

00:46:49   I thought and was way better than I [TS]

00:46:51   thought because you you and I talked [TS]

00:46:52   about how I i was i was really down on [TS]

00:46:55   the idea of you know putting the [TS]

00:46:55   punisher in here to me right is like the [TS]

00:46:58   worst of nineties comics where it's like [TS]

00:46:59   the celebration of nihilism and instead [TS]

00:47:01   the way Jon Bernthal portrayed him the [TS]

00:47:03   way that they wrote him he is exactly [TS]

00:47:05   the punisher supposed to be which is a [TS]

00:47:07   completely messed up guy who is not a [TS]

00:47:10   not even really an antihero he is a [TS]

00:47:12   villain but he sort of like trapped in [TS]

00:47:15   his own villainy because of the terrible [TS]

00:47:16   things that have happened to him and I [TS]

00:47:17   thought they did a great job with that [TS]

00:47:18   care and they didn't disguise it [TS]

00:47:20   the adjacent you and I talked about this [TS]

00:47:22   in person too and I think we came to [TS]

00:47:23   consensus that magic and ninjas were [TS]

00:47:25   kind of it [TS]

00:47:26   nice boy though but the punisher I like [TS]

00:47:29   that a lot [TS]

00:47:30   I liked watching the law firm fall apart [TS]

00:47:33   this year and i liked watching strong [TS]

00:47:35   meaningful well it was it was a great [TS]

00:47:38   break up though because you can see both [TS]

00:47:40   sides of it i enjoyed how many people [TS]

00:47:43   repeatedly called Matt Murdock out on [TS]

00:47:45   his own his nonsense like Claire temple [TS]

00:47:47   every single vs matt if you weren't such [TS]

00:47:49   an idiot like I know and then he go into [TS]

00:47:52   something dumb and I enjoyed i enjoyed [TS]

00:47:56   froggies arc as little as they gave that [TS]

00:47:59   character to do you know the stuff that [TS]

00:48:01   he did was great especially his [TS]

00:48:02   grappling with with you know the fact [TS]

00:48:04   that Matt is kind of a Bacchus visual on [TS]

00:48:06   take yeah I'm the only thing that [TS]

00:48:09   doesn't ring true to me as Karen pages [TS]

00:48:11   are over the course of the the season [TS]

00:48:13   but I like that she was kind of quietly [TS]

00:48:16   grappling with you know having shot [TS]

00:48:17   somebody from season one all on her own [TS]

00:48:19   right and i like that no matter what she [TS]

00:48:23   does she's just fixated on making sure [TS]

00:48:25   that the truth gets out there because in [TS]

00:48:27   her mind the truth is what sets people [TS]

00:48:28   free and it shall fight for that I'm [TS]

00:48:32   sure we a lot of us being you know [TS]

00:48:34   having worked in the journalism industry [TS]

00:48:35   have some complaints about some of that [TS]

00:48:37   arc over although I agree that the [TS]

00:48:39   giving her something to do is good [TS]

00:48:43   like that's something that's not just [TS]

00:48:44   revolving around being a love interest I [TS]

00:48:46   think that's I think that the diagram [TS]

00:48:49   walls a good actress and I know that she [TS]

00:48:51   gave her a lot of stuff to do in this [TS]

00:48:53   season which is great but yeah it's [TS]

00:48:56   tricky trying to navigate that because [TS]

00:48:58   you have fundamentally a character who [TS]

00:49:00   you've already explained is like well [TS]

00:49:02   they're not really you know they're not [TS]

00:49:03   qualified to be a lawyer [TS]

00:49:05   maybe they could be a journalist and [TS]

00:49:07   then like narrow definition of [TS]

00:49:08   journalism that we have here [TS]

00:49:10   ok but like he's a little weird but I I [TS]

00:49:15   thought they handle it well i will also [TS]

00:49:16   put a plug in because i really enjoy [TS]

00:49:18   Scott Glenn as stick even though he's a [TS]

00:49:20   triangle and utter asked you to daryl is [TS]

00:49:24   terrible but I love him so much i see i [TS]

00:49:27   think they I think they misused that [TS]

00:49:29   character this year i like them last [TS]

00:49:31   year this year i kinda i kinda I like [TS]

00:49:34   the actor and i like i like his [TS]

00:49:35   portrayal but I thought that they that [TS]

00:49:37   he got dragged down in this whole morale [TS]

00:49:39   massive like magic black star or [TS]

00:49:42   whatever Black Sun fate ninja a big you [TS]

00:49:47   know pit stealing blood from people [TS]

00:49:50   making zombie ninjas and stuff like that [TS]

00:49:52   which I i get that comes a lot of stuff [TS]

00:49:55   is just must remind from the frank [TS]

00:49:56   miller era of daredevil but uh I don't [TS]

00:50:00   totally get especially given what we got [TS]

00:50:02   last season which was really about you [TS]

00:50:04   know the kingpin and it was about a [TS]

00:50:05   criminal organization trying to trying [TS]

00:50:07   to setup and and and Matt fighting them [TS]

00:50:10   that this season 2 takes this turn with [TS]

00:50:14   when electric comes on screen and you [TS]

00:50:16   end up well for some good ninja fights i [TS]

00:50:18   thought some of that I thought the the [TS]

00:50:20   seat the fight where the ninjas surround [TS]

00:50:22   the hospital was there was a pretty [TS]

00:50:24   great sequence but magic ninjas endless [TS]

00:50:28   supplies of magic ninjas is to me not [TS]

00:50:30   with daredevil wasn't like it wasn't [TS]

00:50:32   listed in the ingredients on the side of [TS]

00:50:33   the box and I totally rejected it I just [TS]

00:50:36   basically was like this is nonsense and [TS]

00:50:38   even though i would totally accept [TS]

00:50:40   zombie ninjas and a magic pit and some [TS]

00:50:44   sort of chosen one that is happening in [TS]

00:50:47   smay be some other show that sort of [TS]

00:50:49   like set up that that's what it was [TS]

00:50:50   about what if we were to call it like [TS]

00:50:52   iron fist for example exactly exactly [TS]

00:50:54   put in daredevil I'm like no no you [TS]

00:50:56   don't get to do this you don't get to to [TS]

00:50:58   just sort of sweep this out from under [TS]

00:51:00   me and also like taking the punisher [TS]

00:51:04   story and then and then just kind of [TS]

00:51:05   pivoting into this I that that's the [TS]

00:51:07   part that just I found really [TS]

00:51:09   unfortunate i liked when the punisher [TS]

00:51:10   went to prison and talk to talk to the [TS]

00:51:12   kingpin and broke out of prison I [TS]

00:51:14   thought that was all actually pretty [TS]

00:51:15   awesome and when not really great to see [TS]

00:51:17   Vincent D'Onofrio I thought that was [TS]

00:51:19   really great but overlaying that last [TS]

00:51:21   half of the season he got these magic [TS]

00:51:23   ninjas and I just don't know I just [TS]

00:51:25   don't have so many of them too many [TS]

00:51:27   night of a million billion in July no I [TS]

00:51:29   mean the tick was making fun of those [TS]

00:51:30   comics 30 years ago and here it is they [TS]

00:51:34   still did they still did it [TS]

00:51:36   yes Stuart wellington in the Medusa [TS]

00:51:38   configuration often cites you know you [TS]

00:51:42   can have one ninja that's super powerful [TS]

00:51:44   but as you add ninjas they get less [TS]

00:51:47   power there's an equation you can do [TS]

00:51:49   that it all it all works out that it's [TS]

00:51:51   just ultimately when you [TS]

00:51:52   500 ninjas those days the law of [TS]

00:51:54   diminishing ninja return one thing i [TS]

00:51:56   like about the zombie ninjas is it does [TS]

00:51:58   explain why they're so bad and so easy [TS]

00:52:00   to kill ya [TS]

00:52:00   is that they're not there admit there's [TS]

00:52:02   armies and their mother tricky format [TS]

00:52:04   because he can't hear them [TS]

00:52:04   yeah yes I've always been a huge fan of [TS]

00:52:07   the hundred ninja to run into a scene [TS]

00:52:09   after you just saw your 99 best pals get [TS]

00:52:12   beat up by the hero the last guy who was [TS]

00:52:15   like but I'm gonna get them i got they [TS]

00:52:17   say they've softened him up for me also [TS]

00:52:19   i like the ninjas fighting style because [TS]

00:52:21   it's not a it's not honorable in some [TS]

00:52:24   way to like everybody ganging up on the [TS]

00:52:25   hero at once and kill him they wait and [TS]

00:52:29   let like those guys got it I'll just [TS]

00:52:30   stand back here and wait [TS]

00:52:32   oh now they're all dead I guess it's my [TS]

00:52:34   turn instead of just warming him and [TS]

00:52:36   killing him which is also just trying a [TS]

00:52:37   good job and just way to go [TS]

00:52:39   yeah yeah it's really hard to fight as a [TS]

00:52:41   group effectively but they're ninjas and [TS]

00:52:43   should be good at that [TS]

00:52:44   so what I'm saying season to appear [TS]

00:52:46   devil not as good as season one that's [TS]

00:52:48   my review that's right i'm not i'm not [TS]

00:52:49   as negative on ninjas as Jason is but i [TS]

00:52:51   agree that there [TS]

00:52:52   yeah it does feel it was very bifurcated [TS]

00:52:55   because the punisher stuff was so good [TS]

00:52:56   and the ninja stuff was less good i [TS]

00:52:59   actually thought the actress who played [TS]

00:53:01   elector was pretty good i didn't think I [TS]

00:53:03   think they had some problems with the [TS]

00:53:04   stuff they wrote for her she's murder [TS]

00:53:06   Pixie dream girl yeah I thought you died [TS]

00:53:09   again I think the portrayal of her as [TS]

00:53:11   opposed to the stuff that was written [TS]

00:53:13   for her vs I thought the actress was [TS]

00:53:15   very competent and did some great stone [TS]

00:53:18   work I thought she was believable in [TS]

00:53:20   what they refer I don't necessarily [TS]

00:53:21   agree with the way that they took her [TS]

00:53:23   character but you know that's that's [TS]

00:53:25   another issue i liked how she vexes mad [TS]

00:53:28   at the beginning when she comes back i [TS]

00:53:29   think that was actually harkening back [TS]

00:53:31   to some of the best stuff in season one [TS]

00:53:32   where Matt is really challenged about [TS]

00:53:34   are you gonna do this who are you going [TS]

00:53:36   to be and and now he decides he's gonna [TS]

00:53:38   be and she comes in and sort of upsets [TS]

00:53:40   all of that I thought that initial [TS]

00:53:42   interaction between them was really good [TS]

00:53:44   but very rapidly becomes clear that [TS]

00:53:46   she's just kind of a crazy person who's [TS]

00:53:48   going to do crazy things [TS]

00:53:50   she's the crazy ex-girlfriend if you [TS]

00:53:52   will if only there were more musical [TS]

00:53:53   numbers and it's not it's not good [TS]

00:53:57   one of the things if there's a complaint [TS]

00:53:59   to have about the the women on the show [TS]

00:54:01   here i am making a woman cum [TS]

00:54:02   is that there was just such a good girl [TS]

00:54:05   bad girl thing going on between electra [TS]

00:54:09   as though she's bad and she said she [TS]

00:54:10   brings out Matt baser impulses and she [TS]

00:54:13   disregards his morality and she pushes [TS]

00:54:15   him to more and more extremes and [TS]

00:54:16   encourages them to disregard society and [TS]

00:54:19   then on the other side of that you've [TS]

00:54:21   got others this beautiful blonde woman [TS]

00:54:22   that I work with and I'm dating her and [TS]

00:54:24   I don't want to have scrapped because [TS]

00:54:26   this is the most beautiful pure thing in [TS]

00:54:27   my life and partners a girl come on you [TS]

00:54:30   know you don't need that the dichotomy [TS]

00:54:31   doesn't have to be that sharp and clear [TS]

00:54:33   temple navigated the beautiful and I [TS]

00:54:35   understand what i don't understand why [TS]

00:54:36   it had to be such a stark contrast like [TS]

00:54:39   why electra wasn't allowed more grace [TS]

00:54:41   and developments a person you know like [TS]

00:54:44   early days would stick notwithstanding [TS]

00:54:45   she seemed pretty stocking caricaturist [TS]

00:54:48   to me also awesome and you know I I [TS]

00:54:54   didn't I i get what she was supposed to [TS]

00:54:56   do because she exists to propel Matt [TS]

00:54:59   story forward and have him sever the [TS]

00:55:01   ties to the street life he had set up [TS]

00:55:04   with the law firm and have him you know [TS]

00:55:07   decide well since work involves a mom I [TS]

00:55:09   on this one and all that [TS]

00:55:10   um I get she was supposed to push him to [TS]

00:55:12   the next plateau and then season three [TS]

00:55:14   is going to be presumably him figure out [TS]

00:55:15   that's not working out so well for him [TS]

00:55:17   but we don't get much of a sense of her [TS]

00:55:19   as a person beyond that and and she and [TS]

00:55:22   she's basically everything i do i'm [TS]

00:55:23   doing because i have these feelings for [TS]

00:55:25   you and I want you to feel this way and [TS]

00:55:26   it's all for you Matthew and you just [TS]

00:55:27   like really you're beautiful you're rich [TS]

00:55:30   you're well connected and you literally [TS]

00:55:32   have nothing better to do than to [TS]

00:55:33   construct your entire inner life around [TS]

00:55:35   your ex-boyfriend two more minutes is [TS]

00:55:37   that what women do [TS]

00:55:38   ok and nights what I don't know is [TS]

00:55:42   elevated your life seems like it I can I [TS]

00:55:44   give a quick thumbs up to my favorite [TS]

00:55:46   supporting player of the season who was [TS]

00:55:48   the Melvin Potter began their Devils [TS]

00:55:52   armor [TS]

00:55:53   I just really enjoy him hes bizarre [TS]

00:55:55   character but I like him they reboot his [TS]

00:55:57   armor was great i like Madame gal I [TS]

00:56:00   cheered when Madame gal came back [TS]

00:56:02   oh she said she's fun too I like her I [TS]

00:56:05   loved all four scenes in season one I [TS]

00:56:07   love to c 0 [TS]

00:56:08   have a question about daredevil not [TS]

00:56:10   having watched this season or to be [TS]

00:56:12   honest these last half of the first [TS]

00:56:14   season [TS]

00:56:15   shame on you I have a lot to do i [TS]

00:56:17   understand there are some problems with [TS]

00:56:18   the journalism in this show [TS]

00:56:20   yes how does it rank compared to the [TS]

00:56:22   journalism on flash and Supergirl it is [TS]

00:56:26   more realistic than either of those i [TS]

00:56:28   would say yeah i was gonna agree with [TS]

00:56:29   that exception of the fact that you [TS]

00:56:31   don't get an office like your first day [TS]

00:56:33   on the job [TS]

00:56:34   ya know well it's not it's not she [TS]

00:56:36   doesn't get an office she gets been [TS]

00:56:38   eurex old office that is still sort of [TS]

00:56:40   the the shrine to the murdered [TS]

00:56:43   oh sorry spoilers for season one there [TS]

00:56:46   there don't want some girls they would [TS]

00:56:49   have had a shrine for 15 minutes and [TS]

00:56:51   then like three top industry moved in [TS]

00:56:52   there so they could talk smack about [TS]

00:56:54   people's grammar they don't have the [TS]

00:56:55   money in journalism to leave in office [TS]

00:56:57   empty as a shrine that is not a thing [TS]

00:56:59   that anyone is doing its basically [TS]

00:57:01   closet but anyway I but it's still more [TS]

00:57:03   realistic than either Supergirl or grief [TS]

00:57:07   or arrow so let's talk about or flash so [TS]

00:57:09   let's talk about Supergirl then we're [TS]

00:57:11   going to move on to some new shows here [TS]

00:57:12   at the end [TS]

00:57:13   Supergirl on the sauna on CBS but and [TS]

00:57:17   everybody said hey that's weird why [TS]

00:57:19   would that be MCW and then at the end of [TS]

00:57:20   the season CBS said hey that's weird why [TS]

00:57:23   doesn't it go to the CW and so it will [TS]

00:57:26   be on the CW this fall [TS]

00:57:27   dear greg berlanti we've noticed that [TS]

00:57:30   she's not solving a murder every single [TS]

00:57:32   episode please fix or we're sending you [TS]

00:57:34   to the CW love CBS yep that's pretty [TS]

00:57:36   much it so super girlfriend seems weird [TS]

00:57:38   fantasy VII don't know i think they [TS]

00:57:40   wanted to try it and just see what would [TS]

00:57:42   happen and the fact is it got better [TS]

00:57:44   ratings than any show on the CW and it [TS]

00:57:46   it will be interesting to see how its [TS]

00:57:48   ratings hold up [TS]

00:57:49   it may have been a brilliant way to [TS]

00:57:50   launch CW show put it put it on CBS for [TS]

00:57:53   a year and then make the audience finds [TS]

00:57:54   on the other network [TS]

00:57:55   I don't know is that true it got better [TS]

00:57:58   it got better rating as supergirls [TS]

00:58:00   ratings and numerically our heart were [TS]

00:58:03   low for CBS but they were higher than [TS]

00:58:04   any individual show on the CW CW is not [TS]

00:58:07   a very popular network yeah it's crazy [TS]

00:58:09   but the big three networks still matter [TS]

00:58:12   somehow yeah [TS]

00:58:14   there are people who are not watching [TS]

00:58:15   superhero stuff how's that possible i [TS]

00:58:17   know it is well now CW's got a god they [TS]

00:58:20   may have changed into the superhero [TS]

00:58:21   channel because they're gonna have a [TS]

00:58:22   superhero stuff on it and basically [TS]

00:58:24   every night of the week when people [TS]

00:58:26   think of a of Supergirl I'm i will give [TS]

00:58:29   I'll give up my thumbnail sketch which [TS]

00:58:31   is I felt like it took a while for it to [TS]

00:58:33   find its way but it still had a sunny [TS]

00:58:35   innocent fun quality throughout that the [TS]

00:58:40   flash had in season one that I really [TS]

00:58:41   like I don't care it i don't think it [TS]

00:58:43   emerges fully formed as the flash I [TS]

00:58:45   think it really struggled to figure out [TS]

00:58:47   what I wanted to be they made they [TS]

00:58:48   introduced a whole bunch of stuff in the [TS]

00:58:50   pilot that they spent the entire first [TS]

00:58:51   year walking back and figuring out how [TS]

00:58:54   to break so that they could go somewhere [TS]

00:58:55   else but i think the last half of it for [TS]

00:58:58   me it really started to shape up and [TS]

00:59:01   they started to figure out what the what [TS]

00:59:02   the show wanted to be in it and it ended [TS]

00:59:04   a lot stronger than it started [TS]

00:59:05   that's my can i say i did have my my [TS]

00:59:08   fanboy freakout came when they act like [TS]

00:59:10   they actually were like oh my god you're [TS]

00:59:11   actually going to make this hand cannon [TS]

00:59:14   shot character jon jones yeah yeah yeah [TS]

00:59:17   mr. and I was like oh my god you're [TS]

00:59:18   actually going to do this this is [TS]

00:59:19   amazing i was one of the things they [TS]

00:59:21   walk back right now because you're [TS]

00:59:22   supposed to be a villain and they just [TS]

00:59:23   changed it and they're like this isn't [TS]

00:59:25   work they like to I think they like [TS]

00:59:26   David Harewood to good actor totally [TS]

00:59:29   boring character in a total who works in [TS]

00:59:30   a totally boring place the government's [TS]

00:59:32   the de 0 which is the most boring thing [TS]

00:59:34   and and they like they spent the whole [TS]

00:59:38   season like extracting characters from [TS]

00:59:40   the stupid do because it was dumb and [TS]

00:59:43   that should never have done it and they [TS]

00:59:45   saved that actor from playing that [TS]

00:59:48   stupid character and said how about you [TS]

00:59:50   be the Martian Manhunter instead [TS]

00:59:51   alright yeah let's do that was also [TS]

00:59:54   smart move because it gives way to [TS]

00:59:56   connect to Cara and the way to connect [TS]

00:59:58   to Alex [TS]

00:59:58   to Alex [TS]

01:00:00   cuz he and Alex happy analysis of the [TS]

01:00:02   professional relationship Jacqueline and [TS]

01:00:04   then the deeper ties because he's [TS]

01:00:05   responsible for this is watching out [TS]

01:00:06   from but here in cars are are basically [TS]

01:00:09   you know refugees in the strange world [TS]

01:00:12   and they they have a peer-to-peer [TS]

01:00:14   relationship that Alex is never going to [TS]

01:00:16   have and I enjoy that differentiation [TS]

01:00:19   comes out on screen and it allows for [TS]

01:00:21   two different types of relationships to [TS]

01:00:23   happen even when there's three people [TS]

01:00:24   around I'd say he's all he's almost like [TS]

01:00:26   a mentor to both of them to which which [TS]

01:00:28   gives you that flash mentor feel a [TS]

01:00:30   little bit and and more than that like [TS]

01:00:32   he's a mentor in a way that they sort of [TS]

01:00:34   sub him in for a lot of places where [TS]

01:00:36   they I guess they could sort of head [TS]

01:00:37   Superman but they didn't really didn't [TS]

01:00:39   want to do Superman in the first side [TS]

01:00:41   and so they have him filling that role [TS]

01:00:44   in a lot of places like hey I'm a [TS]

01:00:45   powered guy who's been around the block [TS]

01:00:47   a little bit and like I can sort of you [TS]

01:00:49   know helped lead you and i'm down this [TS]

01:00:51   path or whatever but I'm not Superman so [TS]

01:00:53   you don't have to like there's not like [TS]

01:00:55   so much of a shadow cast their right but [TS]

01:00:57   yeah I like that I guess a in apparently [TS]

01:01:01   this is where all the writing team [TS]

01:01:03   female characters went to because the [TS]

01:01:05   show meet with good female character yes [TS]

01:01:08   oh my god i love cat Grants so much and [TS]

01:01:10   every time some people's out of her [TS]

01:01:12   mouth [TS]

01:01:12   I'm just clapping my hands into like it [TS]

01:01:14   could have been so bad and it's not like [TS]

01:01:16   like the writing is good Calista [TS]

01:01:18   Flockhart is great it's a great [TS]

01:01:20   character [TS]

01:01:21   well I feel like she's been waiting her [TS]

01:01:22   whole career to be old enough to play [TS]

01:01:24   this side of the character [TS]

01:01:26   yeah which is the best part about it and [TS]

01:01:29   and it it started weird it started weird [TS]

01:01:32   and I wasn't totally convinced and then [TS]

01:01:36   I watched it with my daughters and I [TS]

01:01:40   realized this show has legs and should [TS]

01:01:43   be a top-tier show [TS]

01:01:46   yeah yeah i agree they made a lot of [TS]

01:01:50   good course corrections the flash [TS]

01:01:52   crossover episode was delightful goofy [TS]

01:01:54   and fun like a basket of adorable [TS]

01:01:57   puppies it's so great hills it was just [TS]

01:02:00   like it was like this is the superhero [TS]

01:02:02   team-up that I wanted to see like screw [TS]

01:02:04   that Batman since you can i tell you i [TS]

01:02:05   save that episode of my tivo it's still [TS]

01:02:08   on my tivo and I just I just watch it [TS]

01:02:09   sometimes when I'm feeling down because [TS]

01:02:11   it is just a right [TS]

01:02:12   of sunshine that episode let's in the [TS]

01:02:15   flash to other shows he's worked great [TS]

01:02:16   on the cross races done so far yeah I I [TS]

01:02:19   just you know when what what do we use [TS]

01:02:21   our superpowers for the answer is to get [TS]

01:02:23   ice cream [TS]

01:02:24   fantastic just yeah just super speed i [TS]

01:02:27   can get the ice cream back and won't [TS]

01:02:28   even be melted all right let's do that [TS]

01:02:30   just just amazing so I Superman came up [TS]

01:02:34   and i wanted to i want to mention i [TS]

01:02:36   actually think Superman was one of the [TS]

01:02:38   great problems of Supergirl this year [TS]

01:02:39   because they didn't want to do the show [TS]

01:02:41   and not talk about Superman because the [TS]

01:02:43   premise of Supergirl is that she's his [TS]

01:02:44   cousin and all that so they talk about [TS]

01:02:46   him and they show him like in silhouette [TS]

01:02:48   and there's like a cgi Superman at one [TS]

01:02:50   point and there's a blur of a Superman a [TS]

01:02:52   lot of long i am instant messaging lot [TS]

01:02:55   instant messaging a lot of texts with [TS]

01:02:56   Clark right which I I felt like the show [TS]

01:03:00   got better again better as they went [TS]

01:03:01   along at first I felt was like almost [TS]

01:03:04   almost like we talked about the bechdel [TS]

01:03:05   test and you know women women but [TS]

01:03:07   they're not talking about themselves are [TS]

01:03:08   talking about men [TS]

01:03:09   I almost felt like Supergirl started out [TS]

01:03:11   as failing that own a test about herself [TS]

01:03:13   like it was all about Superman is like [TS]

01:03:15   guys it is not his show [TS]

01:03:17   stop talking about your cousin and they [TS]

01:03:20   got better at it and I think they did a [TS]

01:03:22   pretty good job but it was just really [TS]

01:03:23   weird that he that he was kind of [TS]

01:03:24   hovering over them for so much like they [TS]

01:03:26   had to explain why he wasn't involved [TS]

01:03:29   I don't know what to take the the rumor [TS]

01:03:31   is or the the news is that they are [TS]

01:03:33   going to do they're gonna cast somebody [TS]

01:03:35   and have Superman at least as a [TS]

01:03:38   recurring character in season two [TS]

01:03:41   Supergirl I don't know I disagree I [TS]

01:03:43   disagree i don't know i think I I feel [TS]

01:03:45   like that would be better than the limbo [TS]

01:03:47   state where you where he's there but not [TS]

01:03:50   there i think you almost need to just [TS]

01:03:51   have don't mention Superman or he needs [TS]

01:03:54   to show up but you can't have it be like [TS]

01:03:56   what I wasn't easy excuse of it like in [TS]

01:03:58   the finale where it looks super man he's [TS]

01:04:00   finally coming to help us [TS]

01:04:01   oh wait he's been brainwashed with [TS]

01:04:02   everybody else was terrible [TS]

01:04:05   that was yes that was a very clear like [TS]

01:04:08   okay we need to have this acknowledge [TS]

01:04:10   and yet we also need to take him off the [TS]

01:04:11   board because otherwise he'll just fix [TS]

01:04:13   everything and and that's a problem and [TS]

01:04:16   I i agree with Jason wholeheartedly [TS]

01:04:18   there so i think the the answer is um [TS]

01:04:20   show up for a couple episodes at the [TS]

01:04:21   beginning of next season then he needs [TS]

01:04:23   to go deal with some stuff like offworld [TS]

01:04:25   is likely not going to [TS]

01:04:26   space q I go to space car I trust you [TS]

01:04:29   take care of stuff while I'm gone and [TS]

01:04:31   i'll be back at some point and maybe [TS]

01:04:32   even pop in later in the season to be [TS]

01:04:34   like everything cool here great and go [TS]

01:04:35   back to space or we could have Cara [TS]

01:04:37   accidentally fall through a wormhole and [TS]

01:04:39   end up in the arrow purse yeah where the [TS]

01:04:41   cameraman my oh my gosh yes the whole [TS]

01:04:44   building trails through yeah we need cat [TS]

01:04:46   as well to definitely yeah sure maybe a [TS]

01:04:48   bit me [TS]

01:04:49   or maybe this will be like some mando [TS]

01:04:50   crossover where it turns out that [TS]

01:04:51   Barry's erasing his own timeline river [TS]

01:04:55   breaks up and down different earths and [TS]

01:04:56   care all of a sudden they get knocked in [TS]

01:04:59   20 think these are submerged been [TS]

01:05:01   basically there's no topple gaggers like [TS]

01:05:04   there are other circuits I don't miss [TS]

01:05:06   that always advocate the whole shipper [TS]

01:05:08   perspective but let me put it this way [TS]

01:05:09   if Cara and Barry just ended up the [TS]

01:05:12   instead of Karen are a berry entirety I [TS]

01:05:14   feel like we'd all be okay with that i [TS]

01:05:17   am well that's that's like Felicity [TS]

01:05:18   level of chemistry to wear like oh these [TS]

01:05:20   two actors were both actually both were [TS]

01:05:23   even shared scenes together on Glee [TS]

01:05:25   Grant Gustin and most of the noise day [TS]

01:05:28   they they they been on TV together [TS]

01:05:30   before and boy they really do have a [TS]

01:05:32   great connection that they don't have [TS]

01:05:35   with other people on their shows let's [TS]

01:05:37   put it that way so i would like to [TS]

01:05:39   briefly distance myself from my own my [TS]

01:05:40   own idea okay I don't think Supergirl [TS]

01:05:43   works if Superman isn't in the universe [TS]

01:05:46   degree bigger I want her to be trying to [TS]

01:05:49   live up to and I'll attainable ID he [TS]

01:05:51   just needs to either be way further in [TS]

01:05:53   the background or they need to move into [TS]

01:05:55   the foreground enough to explain them [TS]

01:05:56   away and i hope that they do next season [TS]

01:05:58   is is like he is because before it was [TS]

01:06:00   like well we don't have understood the [TS]

01:06:03   way I understand is they cut the [TS]

01:06:04   candidate him permission to use Superman [TS]

01:06:06   and so they could talk about them but [TS]

01:06:08   they but they couldn't cast a person as [TS]

01:06:11   him and apparently something happened [TS]

01:06:13   maybe Batman vs Superman I don't know [TS]

01:06:15   when they're like yeah that's fine your [TS]

01:06:17   that's a totally different world just [TS]

01:06:18   you know yeah if you wanna have Superman [TS]

01:06:19   is a recurring go ahead because it's [TS]

01:06:21   tough to live up to him it's tough to [TS]

01:06:23   live up to him when we have no idea like [TS]

01:06:25   this show is predicated on the idea that [TS]

01:06:27   we all know who Superman is right like [TS]

01:06:29   and it's tough to to get an idea when [TS]

01:06:31   you're like I don't know which version [TS]

01:06:32   like yeah who is this person she's [TS]

01:06:35   trying to live up to it is it is it the [TS]

01:06:36   community action comics version is [TS]

01:06:39   Henry Cavill is it Brandon route is it [TS]

01:06:41   Christopher Reeve like there's lots of [TS]

01:06:43   different versions sort of wish it would [TS]

01:06:45   be brand around people just keep looking [TS]

01:06:46   at present I was like it's a lot like [TS]

01:06:48   someone else we did not agree well I [TS]

01:06:50   know if I can be hilarious [TS]

01:06:52   oh yeah I would I would I would go for [TS]

01:06:54   that or you know they're there are a [TS]

01:06:56   bunch of good actors that they could [TS]

01:06:57   cast a Superman that would be hilarious [TS]

01:06:59   bit of casting but I i think i think [TS]

01:07:02   that it is a Gotham problem to which is [TS]

01:07:04   alternate like to it was really be [TS]

01:07:07   Supergirl and and and we get Jimmy Olsen [TS]

01:07:10   but then we get like Lois Lane's sister [TS]

01:07:13   and we're going to get like I think next [TS]

01:07:14   season we're gonna get lex luthor sister [TS]

01:07:16   and all that it's like Superman drop-in [TS]

01:07:18   have Lois Lane drop in and talk to Jimmy [TS]

01:07:20   for an episode and kind of upset the [TS]

01:07:22   apple cart and leave again I would like [TS]

01:07:24   them to take those Superman characters [TS]

01:07:25   and kinda rifle them through and then [TS]

01:07:28   move them along right i think that would [TS]

01:07:29   be fine i think that would be okay how [TS]

01:07:31   about eliminate Superman altogether and [TS]

01:07:34   just let her be her [TS]

01:07:36   what do you Lex Luthor all of a sudden [TS]

01:07:38   yes sudden not something I guess that's [TS]

01:07:42   sort of what I'm saying is you bring you [TS]

01:07:44   actually cast Superman so you can bring [TS]

01:07:46   them on and then send him away and stop [TS]

01:07:48   talking about him like we saw in he was [TS]

01:07:51   here we had some good times and then he [TS]

01:07:54   left and let's never speak of him again [TS]

01:07:56   he can just just a sticky note it says [TS]

01:07:58   you know I'm gonna go to space yeah it's [TS]

01:08:01   not you it's to prevent the kind of had [TS]

01:08:05   the same problem arrow did where you [TS]

01:08:07   want to make references to other comic [TS]

01:08:09   books but if you accidentally say you [TS]

01:08:11   know like that nutcase over and [TS]

01:08:12   Bludhaven or you can call yourself [TS]

01:08:14   oracle that's taken and all of a sudden [TS]

01:08:17   that implies way more things about your [TS]

01:08:19   universe and you're prepared to deal [TS]

01:08:20   with I didn't bother me on the arrow [TS]

01:08:22   thing just because I figured it was just [TS]

01:08:23   a joke for for nerds like us we are all [TS]

01:08:26   arrow backed away from it they didn't [TS]

01:08:28   keep dwelling on it was super girl we [TS]

01:08:31   want to talk about Superman yeah right [TS]

01:08:33   captain Superman too much what's going [TS]

01:08:36   on right uh okay we got a couple more [TS]

01:08:39   than I want to cover before we before we [TS]

01:08:41   wrap and we got it we got a I don't want [TS]

01:08:44   to end on a negative note so we're going [TS]

01:08:46   to do [TS]

01:08:46   legends of tomorrow first alright [TS]

01:08:49   that's a positive [TS]

01:08:52   alright legends of tomorrow is next on [TS]

01:08:54   the docket who will speak for legends of [TS]

01:08:57   tomorrow Tony Williams legends of [TS]

01:08:59   tomorrow [TS]

01:08:59   no I'm writing the prosecution oh it's a [TS]

01:09:03   it's a court case is it oh I can be the [TS]

01:09:05   judge as i watched none of it I I will [TS]

01:09:08   do I will do some defendant guilty [TS]

01:09:10   beyond a lot not a lot I think you can [TS]

01:09:13   defend individual elements of it like I [TS]

01:09:15   really liked with flowers performance in [TS]

01:09:17   it I like caity lotz I'm yes yes imagine [TS]

01:09:20   if they were on other shows [TS]

01:09:22   Oh like I know right they should be it's [TS]

01:09:24   just there they were like approximately [TS]

01:09:26   52 many legends of tomorrow and [TS]

01:09:29   repositories worse than useless and then [TS]

01:09:32   you have Martin Donovan has already [TS]

01:09:33   shown up in late you have Martin Donovan [TS]

01:09:36   acting all evil and I'm like but imagine [TS]

01:09:38   a world where there was no legends of [TS]

01:09:40   tomorrow and you got three more Captain [TS]

01:09:42   Cold episodes in the season of flash [TS]

01:09:44   better better world you know when the [TS]

01:09:47   class soon as you find a nice gun the [TS]

01:09:49   person who has run to it thesaurus and [TS]

01:09:51   start learning all of the words for cold [TS]

01:09:54   because that's all you talk about the [TS]

01:09:55   rest of my maybe Leonard snart had a lot [TS]

01:09:58   of lonely friday nights and already knew [TS]

01:10:00   all the words because he had nothing [TS]

01:10:01   better to do you know you one of the few [TS]

01:10:04   things i enjoy from the season all [TS]

01:10:05   agreed with many of the things Lisa just [TS]

01:10:07   said but i do think that they took Mick [TS]

01:10:10   Rory for my character that I could not [TS]

01:10:11   yes about to an actually interesting and [TS]

01:10:14   very cool character who I dig Domonic [TS]

01:10:17   Brown really came a long way from the [TS]

01:10:19   just like I'm stupid and like me and [TS]

01:10:21   just want to burn things it's like well [TS]

01:10:23   that's a hard cut its a very [TS]

01:10:24   one-dimensional character and it worked [TS]

01:10:25   fine on his few flash appearances but [TS]

01:10:27   like how do you have a character like [TS]

01:10:29   Captain Cold you can kind of see why [TS]

01:10:30   he's like maybe decides to like join up [TS]

01:10:33   with these guys but it made no sense for [TS]

01:10:35   heat wave to be there and so I think [TS]

01:10:37   they did a nice job of the chrono stuff [TS]

01:10:39   and with the time masters like [TS]

01:10:40   brainwashing him and all that I actually [TS]

01:10:42   really enjoyed that that was one of the [TS]

01:10:44   few things about the season I was like [TS]

01:10:45   wholeheartedly thumbs up on agree I [TS]

01:10:49   agree at least thing they did right by [TS]

01:10:50   him i want to point out so the the [TS]

01:10:53   showrunner for legends of tomorrow to [TS]

01:10:55   the interview where people asked him [TS]

01:10:57   about the fact that the time travel in [TS]

01:10:59   his time travel show doesn't follow any [TS]

01:11:01   consistent rules and makes no sense [TS]

01:11:03   and his response was basically to say oh [TS]

01:11:05   you know people complain about stuff and [TS]

01:11:08   those people are not having fun and they [TS]

01:11:11   should you know that people are like [TS]

01:11:13   looking for things to complain about [TS]

01:11:14   and I thought this is everything that's [TS]

01:11:16   wrong with legends of tomorrow because [TS]

01:11:18   this this is the showrunner of a show [TS]

01:11:20   that's about time travel and look [TS]

01:11:22   time travel is totally made up and [TS]

01:11:23   ridiculous I you can you can make up [TS]

01:11:26   whatever crazy rules you want but if [TS]

01:11:28   your show does it about time travel [TS]

01:11:30   doesn't have rules it also doesn't have [TS]

01:11:32   steaks it doesn't have internal [TS]

01:11:34   consistency and that means it doesn't [TS]

01:11:37   have any drama because you're just [TS]

01:11:38   watching like flashing lights on a [TS]

01:11:40   screen at that point and that his [TS]

01:11:42   writings of came about and why should we [TS]

01:11:44   exactly and it shows it shows in legends [TS]

01:11:47   of tomorrow you can decide to change [TS]

01:11:49   your time-travel I mean doctor who is [TS]

01:11:51   not always the most consistent about its [TS]

01:11:54   rules for time travel but like I was not [TS]

01:11:56   know that cow it is very definitively [TS]

01:11:59   not but it tries to have a framework [TS]

01:12:00   that makes sense right in and win in [TS]

01:12:02   episodes where that is a central exactly [TS]

01:12:05   they work hard to make it work and so I [TS]

01:12:07   think there's a couple places in here [TS]

01:12:09   where it goes okay I enjoyed ray and [TS]

01:12:13   kendra being stuck in the 50 i love them [TS]

01:12:15   that's my favorite episode yeah and Ray [TS]

01:12:17   having trouble like we had a life like [TS]

01:12:19   how can you just decide to go back to [TS]

01:12:21   this like and just like turn it off like [TS]

01:12:22   that i thought was good consequences to [TS]

01:12:25   that but you're right that's so much [TS]

01:12:26   other stuff in here does not make a [TS]

01:12:27   difference i will agree with that to [TS]

01:12:29   this extent [TS]

01:12:30   doctor who throws its rules out at the [TS]

01:12:32   drop of a hat but it knows what it's [TS]

01:12:34   doing that gives you just on the hand [TS]

01:12:36   way to say i know we normally can't ever [TS]

01:12:39   do this we're doing at this time we've [TS]

01:12:40   got five doctors deal with it here we're [TS]

01:12:42   not looking for rigorous like yeah [TS]

01:12:45   tested time-travel logic here i would i [TS]

01:12:47   would take but when when the court [TS]

01:12:49   conceded the show is a guy is trying to [TS]

01:12:52   save his family by going back in time [TS]

01:12:54   and stopping got another guy and yet [TS]

01:12:57   even like within the episodes about that [TS]

01:13:00   story it's unclear how that would happen [TS]

01:13:03   or where that would happen or why that [TS]

01:13:05   would happen and it never becomes clear [TS]

01:13:07   it's never really resolved to anybody [TS]

01:13:09   satisfaction about why any of that [TS]

01:13:11   happen [TS]

01:13:12   you know you just tossed like like sort [TS]

01:13:14   of like the flash this season you just [TS]

01:13:15   kind of toss your whole season long [TS]

01:13:17   premise away without with a hand wave [TS]

01:13:20   and it makes for like religious tomorrow [TS]

01:13:22   I just kept wondering like what are the [TS]

01:13:24   stakes here and it was never clear the [TS]

01:13:26   worst is when Sarah wants to go back and [TS]

01:13:27   save her sister and there's no hole like [TS]

01:13:30   this is why you can it's like this [TS]

01:13:31   doesn't like that is letter to me was [TS]

01:13:33   like did you do you watching the show [TS]

01:13:35   do you know what the show is about we [TS]

01:13:37   can do we can't do that because [TS]

01:13:38   contracts [TS]

01:13:40   yeah just in time to save your wife and [TS]

01:13:44   child but nobody that you pick to help [TS]

01:13:45   save your wife and child can actually [TS]

01:13:47   see their loved ones got it you hunter [TS]

01:13:49   you're worse he's the horse like you're [TS]

01:13:52   literally is the worst Eli's been [TS]

01:13:54   constantly he has no understanding of [TS]

01:13:55   Team Dynamics he has no leadership [TS]

01:13:57   skills whatsoever he has no planning [TS]

01:14:00   he doesn't listen to the people that are [TS]

01:14:01   gonna log I i just kept actively ready [TS]

01:14:03   for him to get killed he just he's got a [TS]

01:14:05   stolen spaceship and and and a fancy gun [TS]

01:14:08   that's that so he's basically a [TS]

01:14:10   sixteen-year-old his boost the parents [TS]

01:14:12   car on a friday night like what's up [TS]

01:14:15   that would have been that would have [TS]

01:14:16   been interesting because that's like [TS]

01:14:17   your doctor who promised there would [TS]

01:14:18   likely be fair to be fair [TS]

01:14:20   his parents are an evil corrupt time [TS]

01:14:22   agents Nicholson yeah I i really do like [TS]

01:14:24   Arthur Darvill and I think it's a damn [TS]

01:14:26   shame that they didn't give him yes sir [TS]

01:14:28   who made sense in any way and he's he's [TS]

01:14:31   he's a good actor and he's charming and [TS]

01:14:33   he can do the sort of rakish like Time [TS]

01:14:36   Master thing but like his I will take [TS]

01:14:38   your word for it because none of that [TS]

01:14:39   was on evidence i know but his yeah [TS]

01:14:41   you're right that his motivations make [TS]

01:14:43   no sense his plot makes no sense his [TS]

01:14:45   character is awful and and see all the [TS]

01:14:47   things you listed are totally correct [TS]

01:14:49   Lisa but III can't lay that having seen [TS]

01:14:51   him you know in several seasons of [TS]

01:14:53   Doctor Who and on broadchurch and a [TS]

01:14:55   bunch of other stuff he's a good actor [TS]

01:14:57   he really just was not given any any [TS]

01:15:00   sensible material to work with here [TS]

01:15:02   because this is the only thing i've seen [TS]

01:15:03   him in so I'm just like me the same [TS]

01:15:05   reason perhaps the cement John wonder [TS]

01:15:08   that played hawkman is fantastic and [TS]

01:15:10   whatever else you are whatever Germany [TS]

01:15:12   soap opera he was in when they find ya [TS]

01:15:14   like that the the whole hawkman hawkgirl [TS]

01:15:17   thing makes no sense whatsoever and then [TS]

01:15:20   the season finale when she's like we're [TS]

01:15:21   just gonna hang out here and [TS]

01:15:23   and and just be together and do cock [TS]

01:15:26   things for a while and I was like girl [TS]

01:15:28   no no you don't know this man from from [TS]

01:15:30   a glass of milk you had a life with Ray [TS]

01:15:33   who clearly adores you and this is the [TS]

01:15:34   hot man from the future who they've [TS]

01:15:36   brought back it doesn't know kendra is [TS]

01:15:39   like one of the most poorly served [TS]

01:15:40   characters in the sense that she's like [TS]

01:15:42   the linchpin to all these plots she gets [TS]

01:15:44   to be the object of romantic interest [TS]

01:15:46   and she literally doesn't have a thought [TS]

01:15:47   in her head that somebody else hasn't [TS]

01:15:48   put their or motivation everybody is [TS]

01:15:50   constant from episode to episode it's it [TS]

01:15:52   was just really frustrating watching her [TS]

01:15:54   be treated like that and it was also [TS]

01:15:56   super frustrating that the show begins [TS]

01:15:58   with an older white man drugging and [TS]

01:16:01   kidnapping young black man and somehow [TS]

01:16:03   like this [TS]

01:16:03   this forced conscription into my feet [TS]

01:16:06   are like this guide wants is never [TS]

01:16:08   addressed either Lisa does this deserve [TS]

01:16:11   Susan too does the shower is my rant i [TS]

01:16:15   will accept the ramp in season two but [TS]

01:16:19   do they deserve a shot at season 2i [TS]

01:16:22   thought they were going to scrap [TS]

01:16:23   everything and it was gonna be a whole [TS]

01:16:25   new ensemble so yeah I'll take a [TS]

01:16:27   complete teardown yeah yeah but no [TS]

01:16:29   apparently they're bringing a bunch of [TS]

01:16:31   people back there doing the sleeper it's [TS]

01:16:33   a 50-percent tear down at least I mean [TS]

01:16:35   they're not bringing Vandal Savage back [TS]

01:16:37   right right [TS]

01:16:37   no no yeah maybe the Hawks aren't coming [TS]

01:16:40   back I don't know though the Hawks are [TS]

01:16:42   not the Hawks are not coming back i [TS]

01:16:43   think i think they are gone which is [TS]

01:16:45   good he should cast like some [TS]

01:16:46   professional wrestler vandal savages you [TS]

01:16:49   need to be like a big huge guy even if [TS]

01:16:50   he was a much worse actor [TS]

01:16:52   yeah that was good wait is that possible [TS]

01:16:56   free i mean like i think they had a bye [TS]

01:16:58   if they had a professional wrestler like [TS]

01:17:00   reading off the cue cards okay making [TS]

01:17:02   eye contact with the camera i feel like [TS]

01:17:03   the show would have been about twenty [TS]

01:17:04   percent better i have breaking news [TS]

01:17:07   yes most you have you have news for us [TS]

01:17:08   to show sucks [TS]

01:17:11   ya know guilty guilty is so ruled so [TS]

01:17:16   ordered [TS]

01:17:16   LT legislation marel I was so excited [TS]

01:17:19   about it and it was really bad [TS]

01:17:21   it also can we mention just how cheap it [TS]

01:17:24   looks like area [TS]

01:17:25   come on line one ah there were so many [TS]

01:17:28   guys who are just wearing like [TS]

01:17:29   motorcycle jackets who are supposed to [TS]

01:17:31   be like look like Times greatest killer [TS]

01:17:33   to stop at the gap first I guess it's [TS]

01:17:37   like that that npc doesn't even have to [TS]

01:17:39   be compensated they spent a lot of money [TS]

01:17:41   on that spaceship that Jason really [TS]

01:17:43   disliked it's a superhero show [TS]

01:17:45   first off it you think it's a show [TS]

01:17:47   populated by superheroes but they're [TS]

01:17:49   never allowed to be super because it's [TS]

01:17:52   too expensive and so they don't use [TS]

01:17:55   their powers and and so at that point [TS]

01:17:57   why is it not just a time-travel show [TS]

01:17:59   with regular people and why why have you [TS]

01:18:01   populated with superheroes who can't use [TS]

01:18:04   their powers like firestorm is really [TS]

01:18:06   awesome and I thought oh I'll show with [TS]

01:18:07   firestorm would be really fun [TS]

01:18:09   firestorm gets to be firestorm like [TS]

01:18:11   three times over the course of the [TS]

01:18:13   season i would if i if I'm répondre [TS]

01:18:15   which obviously I'm overqualified [TS]

01:18:17   uh-huh i would handcuff those two [TS]

01:18:20   together because it's like no you guys [TS]

01:18:22   don't have to stand in different rooms [TS]

01:18:23   you don't get to get into the little [TS]

01:18:25   station while he stays here it's like [TS]

01:18:26   know you guys like you eat together you [TS]

01:18:28   sleep together and you firestorm [TS]

01:18:29   together yes I waste a lot of money i [TS]

01:18:32   would give up my kids college tuition [TS]

01:18:34   for you to be rip hunter you know how [TS]

01:18:38   I've got the jacket already you'll be [TS]

01:18:41   legends let's end on what I think is it [TS]

01:18:43   going to be a more positive note which [TS]

01:18:46   is adjusted just a touch base on another [TS]

01:18:50   netflix series jessica jones which we [TS]

01:18:53   get TV series about the lean put [TS]

01:18:55   together there's of the bunch of [TS]

01:18:57   episodes about it and this 1i I i [TS]

01:19:01   thought that this one actually set the [TS]

01:19:03   bar a lot higher for daredevil and I [TS]

01:19:05   think they're double didn't clear its [TS]

01:19:06   own bar for season one I thought yeah I [TS]

01:19:09   thought that jessica jones i was excited [TS]

01:19:11   by it after I read the comic when I [TS]

01:19:13   heard there was going to be a TV show i [TS]

01:19:14   read the comic and I think they did a [TS]

01:19:17   great job I think jessica jones was a [TS]

01:19:18   real surprise for me about just how much [TS]

01:19:20   I i liked it when people think I loved [TS]

01:19:23   it Krysten Ritter has been a favorite of [TS]

01:19:25   mine [TS]

01:19:26   I know what this sounds like but don't [TS]

01:19:28   trust the B in apartment 23 [TS]

01:19:30   I love that show so much really funny [TS]

01:19:33   and she's so much fun on it [TS]

01:19:35   oh she's so [TS]

01:19:36   smart and funny guy she was great on [TS]

01:19:38   breaking bad so I was really looking [TS]

01:19:39   forward to her here and you don't see a [TS]

01:19:42   superhero who's afraid that much and [TS]

01:19:45   she's playing fear and PTSD so well [TS]

01:19:49   through so much of that series i've [TS]

01:19:52   heard especially this year and last year [TS]

01:19:56   and I i hesitate to use the term which [TS]

01:19:59   is called agency i don't like it and I [TS]

01:20:03   don't like the word strong male strong [TS]

01:20:05   female we don't use that term very often [TS]

01:20:08   i think that gets misunderstood because [TS]

01:20:09   i think what the intent of a lot of [TS]

01:20:12   people discussing that is saying this is [TS]

01:20:13   a strong character in the sense that [TS]

01:20:15   this is a three-dimensional character [TS]

01:20:17   not necessarily this hour and [TS]

01:20:18   emotionally or physically strong but [TS]

01:20:19   they are well drawn although jessica [TS]

01:20:21   jones to be fair is physically extremely [TS]

01:20:23   strong and does her thing her superpower [TS]

01:20:26   is opening locked doors and also broke [TS]

01:20:28   ass [TS]

01:20:29   yes generally very broken character is [TS]

01:20:31   which is great as a character [TS]

01:20:35   yeah yeah agreed a hundred percent at [TS]

01:20:37   the same time I feel bad because my [TS]

01:20:41   girls can't watch that one [TS]

01:20:44   no no never met but it is it is so great [TS]

01:20:49   to see when we meet jessica jones she's [TS]

01:20:52   a disaster and we learn as we go [TS]

01:20:56   why she's a disaster speaking of shows [TS]

01:20:59   with great village [TS]

01:21:00   yeah i was going to do maybe on it kills [TS]

01:21:02   it this show is ruined david tennant for [TS]

01:21:05   me I just need any money and like I've [TS]

01:21:07   seen him a lot of things before this [TS]

01:21:08   broad Church and Doctor Who of course [TS]

01:21:10   but now when I see him another stuff [TS]

01:21:11   especially things where he does voices [TS]

01:21:13   for animated characters like I can't I [TS]

01:21:16   can't deal with anything [TS]

01:21:17   kilgrave yeah he's just he's good he's [TS]

01:21:20   gonna be kill great for a long time so [TS]

01:21:22   he plays like a like a a wacky cyborg in [TS]

01:21:25   the ninja turtles cartoon it's like no I [TS]

01:21:28   can't deal with you as a wacky the [TS]

01:21:30   reasons i like Supergirl so much is [TS]

01:21:32   because you've got the car Alex [TS]

01:21:34   relationship where there are each other [TS]

01:21:35   sisters and do his best friends and it [TS]

01:21:39   reminds me a lot of the jessica Patsy [TS]

01:21:41   relationship which to me was the beating [TS]

01:21:43   heart of the show like hundred it's [TS]

01:21:45   great that it's great that she and Luke [TS]

01:21:46   Cage [TS]

01:21:47   are are splendidly matched you know in [TS]

01:21:50   the bedroom Anderson chemistry by the [TS]

01:21:52   way in terms of castor and he's such a [TS]

01:21:53   racy great casting michael white culture [TS]

01:21:55   so red and he's handsome [TS]

01:21:57   oh my gosh but the beating heart of the [TS]

01:21:58   show is is the fact that Jessica loves [TS]

01:22:00   Patsy and would do anything for her and [TS]

01:22:03   the feeling is more than mutual and [TS]

01:22:05   those two girls save each other's lives [TS]

01:22:06   over and over and over again and the [TS]

01:22:08   whole show is about love and connection [TS]

01:22:09   and i adore it for that reason it's the [TS]

01:22:13   first time [TS]

01:22:14   Marvel TV property or actions even the [TS]

01:22:17   first property in the MCU that's really [TS]

01:22:18   gotten female relationships right I that [TS]

01:22:22   show i watch probably way too much of it [TS]

01:22:24   in like one sitting at a couple times [TS]

01:22:26   and like the dreams you get after that [TS]

01:22:28   let me tell you this is some seriously [TS]

01:22:29   crazy so it's super creepy like and I [TS]

01:22:33   thought just so effectively done some [TS]

01:22:36   great portrayals I really like you know [TS]

01:22:39   my only I feel like I you know I had [TS]

01:22:41   seen carrie-anne moss and a bunch of [TS]

01:22:43   things over the years especially the [TS]

01:22:44   matrix i always thought she was one of [TS]

01:22:46   the one most underserved characters in [TS]

01:22:48   that entire franchise and she's just [TS]

01:22:51   phenomenal here i really enjoyed her [TS]

01:22:54   character than and yeah I look forward [TS]

01:22:56   to see more of her in an iron fist but I [TS]

01:22:59   i think that she's great in her [TS]

01:23:00   relationship with Jessica and her own [TS]

01:23:02   personal screwed-up life and all this [TS]

01:23:05   like again you get a lot of characters [TS]

01:23:06   who do things that make sense even when [TS]

01:23:10   that throws wrenches into like the plans [TS]

01:23:12   of our of our heroes like well yeah this [TS]

01:23:15   is this is kind of what happens when you [TS]

01:23:17   don't like people don't believe you or [TS]

01:23:19   when you don't fully explain what's [TS]

01:23:20   going on and it's just how is this was [TS]

01:23:24   just a fantastic show from starts [TS]

01:23:26   weirdly hopeful when you think about it [TS]

01:23:28   because even though there are so many [TS]

01:23:29   people in such desperate straits they [TS]

01:23:32   all keep trying and they keep trying to [TS]

01:23:34   connect with each other and they keep [TS]

01:23:36   and they keep trying to become better [TS]

01:23:38   people and they keep trying and they [TS]

01:23:40   keep hoping and and pushing towards the [TS]

01:23:42   hope that things will get better and [TS]

01:23:44   it's an odd thing to say about a show [TS]

01:23:46   that has one of the darkest ethics i can [TS]

01:23:48   remember like it in daredevil are kind [TS]

01:23:49   of neck and neck for like how many dark [TS]

01:23:51   might seems can you have or things are [TS]

01:23:53   dripping [TS]

01:23:54   but it is one of it like it's hard it's [TS]

01:23:57   it's just a very hopeful show and a very [TS]

01:24:00   warm show in some ways yeah what I like [TS]

01:24:02   about it is that it was willing to take [TS]

01:24:04   kilgrave say here is a monster and then [TS]

01:24:07   spend a few episodes later in the season [TS]

01:24:09   saying and this is how he became that [TS]

01:24:11   way and now you're starting to feel some [TS]

01:24:14   sympathy for him and no actually still [TS]

01:24:17   all monster now because they talk about [TS]

01:24:19   choices and agency it's all like this is [TS]

01:24:22   precisely what makes kilgrave so bad is [TS]

01:24:24   he makes poor choices and because it is [TS]

01:24:25   fortresses he doesn't want anyone else [TS]

01:24:27   to have any choices at all [TS]

01:24:28   yeah but we we get to learn why he is [TS]

01:24:30   the way he is but he's still amounts to [TS]

01:24:32   a decision such a hard episode i do want [TS]

01:24:34   to give a I really thought that I'm a [TS]

01:24:36   kedar ville echo darvill no relation to [TS]

01:24:39   Arthur Darvill presumably who put his [TS]

01:24:40   Malcolm the the junkie i hope that [TS]

01:24:43   storyline was amazing just because that [TS]

01:24:46   that moment when you realize like not [TS]

01:24:48   only is he like been spying on her [TS]

01:24:50   because he's been mind-controlled to a [TS]

01:24:53   certain extent but also like he just he [TS]

01:24:55   turned him into a junkie like that was [TS]

01:24:58   just because heartbreaking right it's [TS]

01:25:00   just heartbreaking because now because [TS]

01:25:02   he could but because it served his ends [TS]

01:25:04   you know like oh now I don't even have [TS]

01:25:06   to mind control my just you know making [TS]

01:25:07   dependent on something else and I just [TS]

01:25:10   thought that guy did a fantastic [TS]

01:25:11   fantastic job [TS]

01:25:13   yeah he was the neighbor I liked yeah [TS]

01:25:15   let's not speak of the other and talk [TS]

01:25:18   about 24 okay yeah let's ignore the [TS]

01:25:20   twins for another choice [TS]

01:25:22   yeah she was acting a completely [TS]

01:25:24   different series everyone else their [TS]

01:25:26   depiction of New York City apartment [TS]

01:25:27   buildings little too real [TS]

01:25:29   yeah this is it supposed to be like [TS]

01:25:33   Seinfeld or friends or something [TS]

01:25:35   why don't they all have beautiful large [TS]

01:25:36   spacious apartments that are tastefully [TS]

01:25:38   decorated that's why wasn't it the other [TS]

01:25:40   way [TS]

01:25:41   yes I draw the line at New York [TS]

01:25:43   apartments so yeah I'm super looking [TS]

01:25:46   forward to the luke cage so yes yes you [TS]

01:25:49   can regress alright well we're going to [TS]

01:25:51   wrap the superhero TV season there are [TS]

01:25:54   more superhero shows oh god there are [TS]

01:25:56   always more superhero [TS]

01:25:58   Tom so I'm sure we'll be back and see [TS]

01:26:02   many more of them next year but that's [TS]

01:26:05   that's all that's all for this year [TS]

01:26:06   mixed mix crop that always happens i'd [TS]

01:26:09   like to thank my panelists for joining [TS]

01:26:11   me to talk about the bounty of superhero [TS]

01:26:15   related TV shows [TS]
