The Incomparable

53: Let`s Quilt Hitler

the in comfortable politest number 53 [TS]

are just 2011 it's time for another and [TS]

comfortable flash podcast where doctor [TS]

who is on the on the table for [TS]

  discussion [TS]

the doctor who season what is it [TS]

six-part to begin with let's kill hitler [TS]

  it [TS]

let's kill hitler why not and we [TS]

discovered that uh that that title is [TS]

kind of a red herring and like cranberry [TS]

titles amazing and Hitler and a red [TS]

herring are locked in the cupboard and [TS]

that's all we ever see of stupid old [TS]

Hitler all joining me to discuss let's [TS]

kill hitler are serenity Caldwell [TS]

hello welcome you are unauthorised your [TS]

death will now be implemented will feel [TS]

a tingling sensation and then Devon [TS]

Scott novelty finally a podcast when I [TS]

can talk about my true love Hitler yes [TS]

now I know why were you running now I [TS]

know you're my name is it's always you [TS]

heard was Dan more'n who also is here on [TS]

time as sure sure is i like it like a [TS]

Time Lord I'm always on time [TS]

just a question for what you're keeping [TS]

your own time yeah anyone you're on time [TS]

for me and Glen fleischmann also joins [TS]

  us hello Glenn hello [TS]

I don't know where I've ever seen [TS]

floating killer jellyfish before except [TS]

maybe the matrix maybe the matrix the [TS]

matrix h + years ago though [TS]

yeah good again time can be rewritten [TS]

so we get rid of the second Matrix [TS]

movies that would be great sci-fi [TS]

references that we actually would be [TS]

great but that's not what we're here to [TS]

discard that's another podcast for [TS]

another is yes let's kill hitler was the [TS]

episode and i am going to come out and [TS]

say that I thought it was fantastic i [TS]

enjoyed every minute of it and it was [TS]

  ridiculous [TS]

and it was crazy and I didn't care [TS]

because it was absolutely for me [TS]

absolutely entertaining from start to [TS]

finish i liked that you know there was [TS]

we we talked during the last half season [TS]

of doctor who about how so many of [TS]

Steven Moffat scripts involve a whole [TS]

lot of ideas just kind of jam together [TS]

like in the day the moon and the [TS]

impossible astronaut especially and that [TS]

it could sometimes hinder the story and [TS]

what I thought about let's kill hitler [TS]

was that it was similarly stuffed with [TS]

all these crazy ideas but I didn't feel [TS]

like a got in the way i actually just [TS]

sort of they all worked in service to [TS]

  the plot [TS]

yeah like they all came to the this was [TS]

a rare example of where you know all [TS]

these yet all these ideas but they sort [TS]

of a connected like they actually were [TS]

of a part of a piece with one another [TS]

and i gotta say I agree I agree Jason I [TS]

really enjoyed it and I thought that [TS]

coming off of a good man goes to war [TS]

which I also thought was a really good [TS]

episode very different kind of episode [TS]

very different but also really good like [TS]

you know again there's a place like I [TS]

think so much of the the episodes where [TS]

he showed so much stuff in is because he [TS]

doesn't necessarily a clear idea or the [TS]

the show feels kind of week otherwise [TS]

it's like yeah they're on a pirate ship [TS]

limit or some ideas and and and and like [TS]

to sort of bolster it whereas these felt [TS]

like there was enough going on that they [TS]

didn't there was no filler like [TS]

everything these were all ideas clearly [TS]

that related to the idea of Doctor Who [TS]

and like you know explaining things [TS]

about the plot that you're like oh yeah [TS]

I guess that kind of makes sense that [TS]

stuff that there was no I felt like [TS]

we've had some examples of artificial [TS]

lengthening of the plot right where they [TS]

could have done a whole episode right [TS]

where we meet Rory and Amy's friend and [TS]

we see flashbacks and at the very end of [TS]

the episode others a revelation that we [TS]

already all figured out right so they [TS]

don't do that it's done in whatever that [TS]

revelation happens five minutes in I i [TS]

quite enjoyed that too because not only [TS]

did they have that brief red herring and [TS]

you sort of that then go wait a second [TS]

if there is a person who is this [TS]

important in their life don't you think [TS]

we would have heard about them before [TS]

like you get just enough time to think [TS]

that before you figure out like that [TS]

and I said wait actually kind of worked [TS]

yeah the way they treat the flashbacks [TS]

too is it's like-- alright so we've [TS]

never heard of this person go before [TS]

let's go through their life in five easy [TS]

flashbacks with adorable little music [TS]

behind it where she makes makes the [TS]

future happened to its like the tea is [TS]

necessary in order for the whole future [TS]

in which is part of to have occurred [TS]

will be wobbly timey-wimey I kind of [TS]

assumed that maybe she hadn't actually [TS]

been part of like a time-travel gets [TS]

tricky right but like you know at some [TS]

point you went back in time and did this [TS]

obviously right but I feel like maybe [TS]

when we met Amy and worried at the [TS]

beginning of like the last season [TS]

like maybe that hadn't happened yeah oh [TS]

well I think that's the idea is well i [TS]

think it happens in the instant you [TS]

don't eat when he holds up the photo [TS]

when he holds up the newspaper coverage [TS]

shows the crop circle that says dr. [TS]

there's no line through it when worry it [TS]

  shows it later [TS]

a moment later there's a line through it [TS]

so she's changed she's gone back and [TS]

basically grown up in that entire period [TS]

in mine that me seconds [TS]

yeah exactly yeah i thought that that to [TS]

me a you know strikes me perfectly like [TS]

it works perfectly with her character [TS]

right like catch something river song [TS]

would do and it's very doctor who [TS]

decides that definitely was that with [TS]

the car that was the thing that you [TS]

expected it to be river song and you're [TS]

like no it's not river song it's this [TS]

new character oh but I didn't ever so [TS]

and i would say I girlfriend that I i [TS]

love the flashbacks especially be well I [TS]

can't date bori gay my god and the penny [TS]

  drops [TS]

yes or just little roy by getting more [TS]

yes sorry actually what what I was [TS]

fighting about this episode is is the [TS]

fact that we got young Amy Pond we got [TS]

Amelia pond of that actress now she's a [TS]

great here and get labs like distance [TS]

like third other cousins or something [TS]

  yeah no suspension tonight [TS]

Amelia pond I am a voice interface 32 [TS]

  minutes [TS]

yes well not die in 31 minutes and I [TS]

  third yeah [TS]

oh gosh this episode i have their it's a [TS]

rare episode of television for me where [TS]

I actually stopped it and I have to go [TS]

back in the beginning and start writing [TS]

  down quote [TS]

it's because this episode was just so [TS]

full i have two pages of things that I [TS]

just found on so funny that i had to [TS]

write down where I was that never [TS]

happens it was just a lot there's a lot [TS]

of really really quick witty dialogue in [TS]

this island up really in pain i was [TS]

waiting for the dollar ninety-nine for [TS]

the transcript later though so out of it [TS]

Scott Scott didn't say anything so I'm [TS]

es un just go ahead and assume he hates [TS]

  it [TS]

I'll probably really only works on [TS]

circular all waiting on this episode [TS]

okay yeah i did fall to Scott that's [TS]

  true I i must I'm contractually [TS]

obligated not to like this episode sadly [TS]

in fact i did like it [TS]

im sue you for breach my condolences no [TS]

  it's it's it's a tough situation i found [TS]

myself and although there is one part i [TS]

did not like but I could save that [TS]

because don't touch the party although I [TS]

thought I thought that the tiny people [TS]

in the human shaped ship could have [TS]

deserved an entire episode devoted to it [TS]

but they were gonna be like I could have [TS]

  been a pretty upset [TS]

it's like a parallel universe startrack [TS]

it was great like the copy is here at [TS]

the time in the configuration of the [TS]

bridge was basically then we'll build a [TS]

voyager i think so there's people on [TS]

each other because it's what happens [TS]

  with the internet complaining [TS]

installation complete complete right how [TS]

would you know it's a manager's is what [TS]

we were hit by ray and we're miniaturize [TS]

so we have people on the internet [TS]

complaining about how impractical it is [TS]

because why wouldn't you just make a [TS]

robot all these things like okay okay [TS]

here's the thing about this already [TS]

internet if the internet it's time to [TS]

unplug the internet internet that if it [TS]

hasn't killed if you're concerned that [TS]

the miniaturization ray people in this [TS]

patient patient Bob are are impractical [TS]

you are missing the whole point which is [TS]

it was cool and funny and strange and it [TS]

kind of hilarious and it's like sterling [TS]

yet but it's a good thing it's like you [TS]

get time to apply its you get time [TS]

travel and what do you do is you create [TS]

  bad robots [TS]

I mean the robots are amazing on the [TS]

outside but cannot act in a lifelike [TS]

matter which is great and amazing [TS]

technology you shrink yourself and you [TS]

go and you torture war criminals for a [TS]

few minutes before they're supposed to [TS]

  die anyway [TS]

I that is incredibly interesting life so [TS]

admission there so it's really listens [TS]

the concept is actually it also spawn [TS]

speaking of friend writing down pieces [TS]

of dialogue my maybe my favorite line [TS]

other than shut up Hitler in the entire [TS]

thing is is when the doctor says I was [TS]

going to say who do you think you are [TS]

but I think it's pretty obvious [TS]

yeah that was a great hunter stated line [TS]

oh yeah yeah I I'd say one of my [TS]

favorite sequences from this entire [TS]

episode was the the doctor and River [TS]

Song trying to one-up each other to get [TS]

up over B is very sure stopping him from [TS]

getting killed I thought it was princess [TS]

bride ii like the you might think that I [TS]

was well it's also from the curtain [TS]

fatal death this even though having it [TS]

with a good time but before that by your [TS]

doctor dinner and there's bad haha the [TS]

way it was shot very was very [TS]

reminiscent of moffitt other show in [TS]

Sherlock I just as I was watching it the [TS]

second time through I'm like man I've [TS]

seen these camera angles before but I [TS]

don't matter because it's cool [TS]

Scott what did you like I did that my [TS]

one quibble was in fact about the robot [TS]

and uh are you do on the Internet [TS]

I'm that's most of all I haha it is [TS]

reaching millions of time or earlier [TS]

people inside Scott what are they all [TS]

have a wife I know I my one problem is [TS]

the the intruder destruction mechanism [TS]

that is apparently everyone needs to [TS]

wear wristbands so that the robot [TS]

doesn't kill them but the wristbands are [TS]

really get their faulty so you couldn't [TS]

just randomly kill you who the risk is [TS]

right by your packet of course and of [TS]

course they were oh so that was my enemy [TS]

that's a minor quibble but i'm likely [TS]

know if you can travel back in time you [TS]

could probably come up with a better [TS]

system of getting rid of intruders from [TS]

your robot that you can miniaturize [TS]

  yourself into [TS]

I was wondering about that because when [TS]

they suck that first guy in and I was [TS]

like there's no security like the woman [TS]

was just standing there they're not [TS]

gonna they're gonna let them like wander [TS]

around the inside there oh here come the [TS]

  jellyfish [TS]

yes how all the antibodies uh well I see [TS]

what they were doing but but it wasn't [TS]

  it wasn't practical yeah [TS]

there was a poor securities something [TS]

you see her wrist bands that the makeup [TS]

  department woman's wrist band [TS]

malfunctioning you think initially oh [TS]

this is going to be the central plot of [TS]

the episode right where the malfunctions [TS]

and the antibodies go crazy just me [TS]

thinking that it's just like that kind [TS]

of clue what's up what's the velcro Mars [TS]

  movie [TS]

yeah mission mission to Mars yeah [TS]

there's that it was like evil mode [TS]

engaged oh no they get people mode we [TS]

gonna do now but the hatch on the back [TS]

you switch the even catch the dates [TS]

which they have to set that up so that [TS]

Amy could do that later in the episode [TS]

but still I think it's a bit silly right [TS]

yeah silly but it was a very like the [TS]

benefit was that they're very polite and [TS]

they say things like hollow feel a [TS]

tingling sensation followed by death [TS]

yeah okay well I i did enjoy that they [TS]

be it was a silly concept so you have to [TS]

just fully commit to making it [TS]

incredibly silly so that is a plus on [TS]

  its side [TS]

I don't cameras go ahead they were so [TS]

understated that it really worked for [TS]

the episode where it's just the [TS]

creepiest Doctor Who villains are the [TS]

ones that are subtle and say things in [TS]

complete sentences and you're like okay [TS]

I'm really scared even though you're a [TS]

  giant floating w jellyfish [TS]

this is the scariest thing in the larger [TS]

i thought was that it's got a kind of [TS]

all these horror elements but then they [TS]

actually go up the upstairs and the [TS]

  holographic autopilot or auto [TS]

replacement pilots like we have tested [TS]

17 life-forms they have not our pilots [TS]

  they have all failed [TS]

there are six billion 185 million blood [TS]

to test its like oh my god they're gonna [TS]

kill everybody on the planet they have [TS]

to fly this goddamn spaceship [TS]

yeah i think i think what struck me as [TS]

interesting about this new that I think [TS]

I just heard i got from that the [TS]

conversation is this is a fairly like [TS]

it's a mythology episode right doctor [TS]

who doesn't always have a lot of [TS]

Mythology episodes i mean there are a [TS]

few sprinkles here and there but like [TS]

you know the plot of this episode is not [TS]

exactly state does not sign out on it is [TS]

in fact sort of the second part of of a [TS]

good man goes war but that was also very [TS]

much not you know a standalone episodes [TS]

even there is not like a you know we [TS]

have that central the doctor shows up [TS]

  somewhere investigating something [TS]

strange that's going on right you know [TS]

we have from moment one this is like his [TS]

mythology stuff which I like I like [TS]

yellow they polished off so much in this [TS]

  out you [TS]

disappointment i had was there were a [TS]

million dangly bits from the last couple [TS]

of seasons and it's like oh she can't [TS]

  regenerate anymore [TS]

oh she already knows permission oh the [TS]

doctor already has kind of her number oh [TS]

the doctor knows what he's also really [TS]

going to die as fixed one time like over [TS]

so i was thinkin episode should be [TS]

called you know dr. ex machina because [TS]

it had so many rabbits pull out of hats [TS]

and while it was satisfying [TS]

  it means that there's there's a there's [TS]

still more you know there's more [TS]

mythology to come but a lot of threads [TS]

have been snipped now and so the little [TS]

  ones too [TS]

we got the question the Academy of the [TS]

question he did it 42 the question the [TS]

answer is 42 we know that I just like [TS]

anyone else expect like when there's [TS]

like it's the oldest question I just [TS]

expected them to go wow [TS]

yes that's the room I I thought it was [TS]

more the question was more obvious than [TS]

that which was the creepy silence people [TS]

to begin with which is the question is [TS]

why does no one ever noticed them which [TS]

is the questions they were asking the [TS]

last season and that may be reading too [TS]

obviously into it but that wasn't my [TS]

question is Doctor Who yeah we already [TS]

  answered that question remember [TS]

riversong those the doctor's name and he [TS]

said there's only one reason that I tell [TS]

anybody my name and I'm thinking what if [TS]

the reason was that that was what the [TS]

question was that the silence wanted to [TS]

  know the answer to [TS]

I don't know so let's talk about the [TS]

Time Lords because um you know we've got [TS]

river song now when we know that she's [TS]

essentially got three incarnations she's [TS]

used up her regeneration energies to [TS]

regenerate after being shot by Hitler as [TS]

you do and then saving the doctors life [TS]

which I gotta admit that 1i did not see [TS]

coming that the child was another great [TS]

how they're gonna get get out of it but [TS]

as soon as soon as she started to do it [TS]

i figured out that it was also going to [TS]

be all over red generations because [TS]

explains why we never see her life when [TS]

she looks like river song for the rest [TS]

of the right distance it's also it's [TS]

internally consistent with some of the [TS]

david tennant stuff and so forth like we [TS]

know that you can move regeneration [TS]

energy around there's some crime alley [TS]

ability and you get that fully 24 hours [TS]

she can get shot by all the Nazis and [TS]

and laugh and right well I knew [TS]

everything is hand cut off right yeah [TS]

only to come get your kicks examples of [TS]

of a plot point that is [TS]

canon and makes sense specifically [TS]

because of the new series that it's like [TS]

all the different stuff with the hand [TS]

and with the duck the two doctors the [TS]

double doctors and all of that that's [TS]

what they're playing with their which is [TS]

kind of cool that they've got enough now [TS]

of track record that they're using you [TS]

know the last five yes I continuity that [TS]

well they threw that into with the oh [TS]

don't give me a voice interface of at [TS]

UNT shows up as himself feel like that's [TS]

what's always when I like guilt morning [TS]

after only the single best tweet [TS]

yesterday after the episode ran is from [TS]

my friend Danny O'Brien is a works for [TS]

the society for the protection of [TS]

journalists and he tweeted about one of [TS]

his friends I can't believe this Henry [TS]

just got into a conversation about let's [TS]

kill hitler with mike Godwin I know you [TS]

must be so bored by that but ah but I [TS]

think literally means that she actually [TS]

wasn't joking she had a conversation [TS]

with my god when formulator of Godwin's [TS]

law which is start you know that you the [TS]

probability of any conversation on the [TS]

internet leading to a reference to [TS]

Hitler approaches one or is wondering [TS]

yeah yeah anyway that was terrific [TS]

now all Doctor Who fans will invoke [TS]

godwin's law clinic but can I have a 58 [TS]

thumbs up for Rory for not only going to [TS]

punch a Nazi but also getting a bunch [TS]

Hitler punch it when people stop Hitler [TS]

Otzi's i love his line where she's like [TS]

can you ride a motorbike and he's like I [TS]

expect so it's that kind of day is [TS]

  coming [TS]

I i would like it if that kind of day [TS]

continued for the rest of this season [TS]

also Rory um Rory doesn't die right [TS]

it'sit's the doctor for romo don't they [TS]

show him build a show him saying we're [TS]

dead again just for next week we [TS]

actually yeah time which I feel bad [TS]

could leave if you know any other place [TS]

is it you got you gotta play upright [TS]

bass died somewhere outside through [TS]

happy we have some more cannon out too [TS]

because I think we learned a little bit [TS]

more about what's going on the dot i [TS]

mean i think the introduction of the the [TS]

TARDIS as a thinking being in the [TS]

  doctor's wife I think you're getting a [TS]

call back to that I mean maybe I'm [TS]

getting this wrong with the whole river [TS]

song be able to fly the TARDIS right she [TS]

said she taught me it's a she and it's [TS]

and she said I'm the daughter of you [TS]

know the top of the daughter of the [TS]

the time water resistant to prevent [TS]

artists talkin yeah well Rory and Amy [TS]

have conceived her to the doctor and and [TS]

  the TARDIS shaped her [TS]

yeah I I i noticed that and I thought [TS]

that was a perfect connection to the new [TS]

wife episode and also I i got from that [TS]

who knows how long she was gone right [TS]

because it's a time machine so maybe she [TS]

spent you know some time with the TARDIS [TS]

learning all about the TARDIS and then [TS]

she comes back and she's she's different [TS]

at that point right i mean she just [TS]

she's a noticeable change yeah yeah [TS]

you're right i think that was the point [TS]

she said she taught me and I'm like in [TS]

what period of time and she talks about [TS]

I mean there's some stuff previous time [TS]

machine as much time as you want [TS]

like I was you know I was talking to fly [TS]

it by the best he smiles just what you [TS]

were busy that day you know sweetheart [TS]

oh so is that the reference that that's [TS]

  funny [TS]

Oh Steven Moffat I have to I have to [TS]

give sort of felt like thumbs up to two [TS]

things which is first the sonic cane [TS]

which was awesome and just just the [TS]

whole like I'm going to look like I'm [TS]

straight out of a 1940s movie musical [TS]

I'm dying because really ynot I'm the [TS]

doctor and then the other is the series [TS]

of rules that we start to get the doctor [TS]

in parting towards the end of the [TS]

episode where he's trying to teach [TS]

trying to teach river as much as [TS]

possible before he dies like number one [TS]

the doctor lives already use down who [TS]

  says yes exactly [TS]

time is not the boss of you number 408 [TS]

yeah that was good that was good stuff [TS]

and consistent with all the pieces of [TS]

the story that we've seen from Steven [TS]

Moffat before because she's now we know [TS]

she's quitting the back with you think [TS]

that she's the one who composed the [TS]

rules and I'll question find out that [TS]

she's just citing them so another [TS]

complaint last or is he citing her over [TS]

well one of the complexity whiny with [TS]

the lobby one of the complaints last [TS]

year was that that they simplified I [TS]

think 44 level uh listen while of [TS]

audience members they simplified her [TS]

story and she said I i'll buy meet him [TS]

back to front right but this is this is [TS]

good because this episode is [TS]

specifically not that this is their [TS]

first time meeting and the next time we [TS]

see her will be out of order from this [TS]

and I kinda like that that we've broken [TS]

we broke it up again where it's not in a [TS]

linear fashion it's clearly not linear [TS]

and so the next time we meet her we get [TS]

to have that same kind of moment of oh [TS]

what is she gonna know at what point in [TS]

her life is it next which is sprinkle [TS]

rather than before when she seemed to [TS]

know what stuff the audience didn't you [TS]

know the best dramatic irony where we [TS]

know stuff that she doesn't have this is [TS]

the first time river song is on the [TS]

defensive sheet she doesn't know what's [TS]

going on and we do it which is pretty [TS]

cool that's a guarantee it twists we get [TS]

that that's the inflection point yes [TS]

basically we're all unique and dies and [TS]

  she brings him back [TS]

spoilers was always you know what is [TS]

more like yeah also a great bit is that [TS]

they addressed the the parental aching [TS]

heart problem in this episode which is [TS]

the effect it anymore we don't get a [TS]

raise their own child and so forth and [TS]

end the doctors the doctor says you did [TS]

get to raise her because she lived now [TS]

they have 20 years or however long [TS]

experience of being around her while she [TS]

  was growing up [TS]

yeah yeah I I thought that was not not [TS]

covered maybe as much as I expected it [TS]

to and maybe we'll see more in later [TS]

episodes but I i thought that was kind [TS]

of point in some ways because in turns [TS]

out that they did spend they did spend [TS]

their childhood with their daughter or [TS]

they got to witness their daughter's [TS]

childhood but it was when they were [TS]

children to it's so strange and and yet [TS]

better than missing it entirely I [TS]

suppose EE and it it skips the awkward [TS]

let's have let's have a baby on the [TS]

TARDIS with adventures portion of the [TS]

evening was just seems like it could get [TS]

  old fast [TS]

yeah I agree so what else truck people [TS]

about let's kill hitler hitler hitler [TS]

lived Hitler was my skills [TS]

yeah Hitler yeah that will it was boys [TS]

people in that little robot guy the [TS]

little people in the robot guy they're [TS]

very bad at their job because they are [TS]

because they come out and get right to [TS]

Hitler and they're ready to kill him and [TS]

then one guy says wait that's the wrong [TS]

time we can't do this now he checks his [TS]

calendar lightweight as you come on guy [TS]

was I was wondering if those guys are [TS]

the guys who eventually in prison [TS]

riversong or it whether she I mean [TS]

because we know she gets important for [TS]

murder exhausted depleted doctors it's [TS]

true to take the air they're sort of [TS]

kills him and then that would explain [TS]

  how chic [TS]

escape so easily because they are [TS]

completely incompetent this is well I [TS]

mean also we know she's basically a time [TS]

work right like you couldn't lock up a [TS]

  Time Lord right right [TS]

I'm very part I liked the Detroit I like [TS]

the lipstick poison which again was one [TS]

of those things that I always a callback [TS]

see coming and will completely a call [TS]

back i started she did that is soon as [TS]

you did that i zoomed in on it I was [TS]

like oh he is screwed the most of the [TS]

Judas tree gotta love the poison you [TS]

have the Judas tree and there's no cure [TS]

and disables regeneration somehow i call [TS]

back to Amy's choice that when they [TS]

bring up the voice interface and it's [TS]

the doctor he says show me somebody I [TS]

like which is the you know just quick [TS]

and it goes right by but it says [TS]

everything about how he feels about [TS]

himself and I got this smells like thing [TS]

was they keep saying guilty what it is [TS]

but the beginning of imagery and help [TS]

yeah somebody i am having and you [TS]

screwed up yet right if it's Amelia pond [TS]

yet yet not too badly yes [TS]

yeah a nice nice out shout out to Donna [TS]

saying are real kill to see the other [TS]

three campaigns from the series that was [TS]

nice and this time I think you're like [TS]

oh is this rose going to say something [TS]

no yeah there's a shot of them and knows [TS]

a if you see those couple the the extra [TS]

scenes they filmed for the DVD where Amy [TS]

is asking have you not seen this girl on [TS]

YouTube there a couple minutes each and [TS]

  they're like there's one where Amy's [TS]

it's from like the the early episodes [TS]

and she asked some in like one of the [TS]

first few episodes like oh well how many [TS]

people have you had like riding around [TS]

with you is like a you know just a few [TS]

and she's like well how many of them [TS]

would you say women are you like maybe [TS]

like half slightly more than half the [TS]

games like and she tricked him into like [TS]

showing pictures of all them and it [TS]

flashes through and of course they're [TS]

all older like the rolling on Eric isn't [TS]

Alaric the only male know that was in [TS]

the very first season was there with the [TS]

  doctors granddaughter granddaughter [TS]

there was a guy was traveling with them [TS]

to sure they're worth repairing and [TS]

Jamie and AMI with a second doctor with [TS]

the yeah a one of the best companions in [TS]

fact on there have been men but but more [TS]

women than men and mostly young and [TS]

pretty and that was an Amy gives him a [TS]

really hard time for that and he's like [TS]

  well you know [TS]

incision it just happens i don't know [TS]

what you're talking about this is the [TS]

also these deleted scene in which he [TS]

describes himself as some like well what [TS]

is it like I see myself like it like [TS]

Gandalf like a space Gandalf [TS]

yeah what yeah its stories about wizards [TS]

turned out to be about him the extras [TS]

are are really are there those are [TS]

probably pretty shiny we should talk [TS]

about the sex isn't there the Twitter of [TS]

the Twitter sex isn't about the game is [TS]

on time on a riot act when we remember [TS]

  the sexes [TS]

yes the twitter in serious talking with [TS]

people complaining like oh come on she's [TS]

this that you know they paint river talk [TS]

to this incredibly smart capable person [TS]

has to equal the doctor and she [TS]

regenerates is talking about the size [TS]

she is you want to go away herself and [TS]

she's looking for clothing and blah blah [TS]

blah and the doctor makes that remark [TS]

about women and then says you know [TS]

you're dying when it's raining right guy [TS]

yeah it's just it's all you know it [TS]

added up to a little much although i [TS]

think it's perfectly reasonable like the [TS]

river song think she's young she's [TS]

regenerating she is all this power she's [TS]

been brainwashed and she's you know just [TS]

giddy with them with soul woman on this [TS]

podcast I kind of feel like if i [TS]

magically got a new body I would want to [TS]

know what it looks like sexism it's just [TS]

you know what if you change appearance [TS]

completely you're going to want to go [TS]

look in a mirror River was always been a [TS]

badass and she's always done it with [TS]

style and cared about her son right well [TS]

and i like that there was also the call [TS]

like so much the regeneration up with a [TS]

call back to matts mr. generation right [TS]

Katie and david tennant's attendance [TS]

which is the teeth and the hair that [TS]

goes on forever it under always rifles [TS]

through other people's clothes and [TS]

  steals them in order [TS]

he doesn't hold them at gunpoint and [TS]

tell them to strip but that's when it [TS]

starts river yeah exactly when I disease [TS]

that's one of my favorite scenes from [TS]

this entire 12 from the end of the last [TS]

series with were the mat smith [TS]

regeneration girl three doses it all [TS]

back I just really was talking about [TS]

that that Mel's constantly stealing [TS]

vehicles of course as well [TS]

yes you notice it's the TARDIS that they [TS]

bring up first when they're like we've [TS]

got the biggest war criminal in the [TS]

world which I imagine is supposed to be [TS]

a misdirect towards the doctor itself [TS]

but the fact of the matter is they [TS]

pulled up the TARDIS and [TS]

with the TARDIS got the lock on her [TS]

which means that at some point perhaps [TS]

we see river take the TARDIS well I'm [TS]

and remember the moffatts longer game [TS]

here right is that when the doctor gets [TS]

thrown in the Pandorica they say we're [TS]

going to save the universe but putting [TS]

you in here because only the doctor can [TS]

pilot the TARDIS which you know is is [TS]

wrong because riversong can do it too [TS]

and and that's you know there is more [TS]

plot to be unspooled here that i know we [TS]

know the whole these shadowy people the [TS]

silence who are you know orchestrating [TS]

this war to stop him right [TS]

like the whole reason that river song [TS]

was brainwashed and taken from her [TS]

parents was to create someone who could [TS]

stop the doctor I kind of like that idea [TS]

always liked get killed yeah right i [TS]

  like right you are [TS]

are they trying to prevent the question [TS]

for being asked or make the question be [TS]

asked is that we don't they're asking [TS]

Acrobat is it back they want to stick by [TS]

the question that reason it there's the [TS]

end of the universe right there sorry [TS]

Oh cred not just 10 not around when it's [TS]

  destroyed the universe again [TS]

Oh Glenn spots this side has never [TS]

  happened [TS]

oh let's hit the reboot just jiggle the [TS]

cord big Angry all TARDIS and will be [TS]

  start again [TS]

why not okay so someone remind me [TS]

because I'm gonna be a little fuzzy the [TS]

end of last season when river is stuck [TS]

in the TARDIS that's looping yes yes how [TS]

did she get out to be alert [TS]

he he he has the transporter thing on it [TS]

he's got the watch based portables over [TS]

things and goes into the government at [TS]

the time when perhaps her and get her [TS]

out and she despairs yep [TS]

while but then we also have the thing [TS]

where she shows up after everybody has [TS]

been destroyed is right that is the [TS]

mystery i think that's a good mystery of [TS]

that party she has the empty blank [TS]

TARDIS a cover and all right issues and [TS]

she shows up the wedding the weather [TS]

even though she did you go to the [TS]

wedding because she's bad weddings right [TS]

oh she's bright she's smells she didn't [TS]

cross your own timeline dumbbells didn't [TS]

go to the wedding either because also me [TS]

always ml's didn't exist in that title [TS]

yet if Mellie's way too pretty to minus [TS]

it's not that thing smells have been at [TS]

  the wedding [TS]

melody or river showing up with across [TS]

the timeline so Mel's couldn't have gone [TS]

to the wedding alright there's a long [TS]

way to talk and it gets even offered on [TS]

this podcast dance bowling tonight right [TS]

to sleep yeah you got inside line its [TS]

national Michaels gonna call ya haha oh [TS]

  that's the corner [TS]

no I do have his Steven Moffat email [TS]

address or at least you know seven years [TS]

ago when he was mean to us but not since [TS]

then haha yeah yeah so anyway I don't [TS]

  hold a grudge [TS]

yeah like something i don't eat it it uh [TS]

yeah so what else what else we should we [TS]

bring up I mean was so packed full of [TS]

stuff but you know like i said it was a [TS]

great ride I i enjoyed the silly parts [TS]

and the it was fun and and there were [TS]

parts that i didn't expect which is [TS]

always nice a the whole thing was such a [TS]

great misdirection that I I really [TS]

thought this was going to be a some sort [TS]

of a not you know we accidentally save [TS]

Hitler and then we have to kill him [TS]

again kind of time paradox episode with [TS]

a little bit of Arc thrown in and that's [TS]

not what it wasn't all I loved that I [TS]

was completely fooled about what this [TS]

episode was going to even be about it [TS]

was it was all Doctor Who mythology with [TS]

the dash of Nazi yeah i'm running around [TS]

and yeah the Nazis are there and-and-and [TS]

run into the TARDIS because I've been [TS]

poisoned too new just it was it was [TS]

wacky screaming wacky but not but not so [TS]

far over the top that it felt ridiculous [TS]

you know was just able to instill yeah [TS]

it wasn't was it with you guys to the [TS]

perfect well that's it's actually great [TS]

season opener which is funny because [TS]

they the opener was the finale but like [TS]

the the opener they're just using its [TS]

backwards yeah this is an was structured [TS]

with the first two parts as a finale and [TS]

now in the middle we get what was it [TS]

essentially felt like the season-opener [TS]

very strange very strange but Gary what [TS]

is the valley gonna be the finale is [TS]

going to be a clip show [TS]

they're gonna run something we're going [TS]

  to policy [TS]

and for the best of seasons uh yeah [TS]

monster file it did the match you know I [TS]

thought about the fact that dr. yeah [TS]

there's still that recording device of [TS]

the doctor looking at stuff on the [TS]

screen the name is not supposed to see [TS]

it's like i'll come on let's not do in [TS]

that business but now he knows exactly [TS]

what he's gonna die knows the date and [TS]

so he he's got this whole and we also [TS]

know that he's supposedly hundreds of [TS]

years or nearly a hundred years older [TS]

when he does you know actually [TS]

permanently dye and i'm still holding [TS]

out tonight Jason should i say the [TS]

secret that I think it might be my [TS]

supposition about the doctors def go [TS]

  ahead [TS]

is it time it's the flesh they thought [TS]

they'd totally paint this at the end of [TS]

the flash episode the doctor says pretty [TS]

strongly that the flesh doctor could [TS]

recreate himself and so I'm thinking of [TS]

course it's an actual doctor who gets [TS]

killed in the impossible astronaut it's [TS]

the flash dr. it's another big piece of [TS]

misdirection but i think it's going to [TS]

be a season-long arc and resolved at the [TS]

end we find that the flesh doctors come [TS]

back to me my bro and if you want this [TS]

direction I said you know and not to [TS]

introduce spoilers but it was just [TS]

curious because they happen to know what [TS]

the titles of the rest of the season are [TS]

ya the finale is titled the wedding of [TS]

River Song which seems to be up there [TS]

with the doctor's wife for like it [TS]

alright i don't really trust anything [TS]

that you name an episode this season [TS]

yeah it's all it's all I i called tricks [TS]

I'm still not entirely convinced that [TS]

the doctor didn't tell canton everett [TS]

delaware the third to be at that place [TS]

at that time because of some sort of [TS]

faked out where they're making his death [TS]

and the gasoline he broad isn't really [TS]

what did you know it's something else [TS]

and who knows whether what it is but it [TS]

wouldn't surprise me if there's a you [TS]

know a whole big fake-out that happens [TS]

because I think we're going to end up [TS]

with the doctor essentially faking his [TS]

own death so that he can go more [TS]

undercover and not be paid attention to [TS]

you by all these big villains also as I [TS]

recall he gets shot he starts to [TS]

regenerate and then get shot again right [TS]

that's right but in theory if he's Mid [TS]

regeneration I mean like the whole thing [TS]

with the regeneration energy couldn't he [TS]

like kidnapping a fake-out right well [TS]

the supposition that the weapon is [TS]

somehow they suggest they also suggest [TS]

that it's like you you haven't got a [TS]

chance to regenerate so he gets shot [TS]

before that happens but well it couldn't [TS]

hurt to shoot a Time Lord twice I mean [TS]

that's your right because if that were [TS]

the case you just killed someone was [TS]

shooting them and then wait a minute [TS]

interesting them again and maybe the gun [TS]

is absorbing regeneration energy for [TS]

later maybe or maybe the spacesuit is is [TS]

has river in it and she can absorb his [TS]

regeneration energy like he absorbed it [TS]

from her and then he can she can turn [TS]

around later and give it back to him I [TS]

  don't know I i we don't know if it's the [TS]

  end of the show [TS]

yeah that's it it's painful it's over [TS]

that's the biggest trick yet they said [TS]

its renewed and coming back next year [TS]

  but it's not [TS]

let's make out that the best-trick [TS]

Steven Moffat ever told you was to [TS]

convince you that he didn't exist [TS]

it's actually the answer to the usual [TS]

suspects is in fact we thank you that [TS]

  he's got a whole it's a you know you're [TS]

not going to see that coming let me tell [TS]

you Kevin Spacey seven spaces in the [TS]

spacesuit Kevin Spacey is the doctor and [TS]

resists shoot 70 is their doctors to chi [TS]

minh that terrible terrible puns from [TS]

glam aside any other comments about [TS]

let's kill hitler before we wrap up i [TS]

liked it i thought it was good it will [TS]

go around and do the minis many reviews [TS]

now scott also thought it was good i I [TS]

liked it but i would like to have twenty [TS]

percent more Nazis what is with you and [TS]

not seen enough she's that's hate you [TS]

and the model you're gonna happen i [TS]

think you're gonna have the Nazi in the [TS]

Nazis used the Nazis didn't have other [TS]

Nazi so I'll tell you my favorite horse [TS]

was set in the Nazi cynical side when [TS]

you go back and watch this again I'm [TS]

telling you the best thing in this [TS]

entire episode is there's a monocle joke [TS]

when river song appears with her guns [TS]

  take off your clothes [TS]

there's a German with a monocle and he [TS]

his eyes bug out the monocle flies out [TS]

of business call into some soup bad does [TS]

the cubs / supply comedy I quite i quite [TS]

enjoyed the aftermath of that scene [TS]

would be well how are you gonna find it [TS]

we're gonna find her in all of Berlin [TS]

  clue [TS]

slough yeah which-which Rory's mocking [TS]

her at that point i don't know if you [TS]

noticed that but but he she says it was [TS]

Scott her Scottish accent and he mocks [TS]

her Scottish accent she tells him to [TS]

shut up and then the people run out in [TS]

  their underwear was delightful [TS]

  delightful all around guys [TS]

glad you enjoyed it i did I thought [TS]

there was a little bit too much deus ex [TS]

machina but i-i-i thought it was I kept [TS]

my attention the whole time and I had [TS]

very little idea what's gonna happen [TS]

next which is such a joy because [TS]

sometimes they Telegraph a little too [TS]

  much that was great [TS]

who else didn't I ask the DA and love [TS]

didn't and then left it [TS]

yes yes yes yes all real [TS]

it's unanimous and John and John [TS]

Syracuse's on vacation so he doesn't get [TS]

to vote in my somewhere he's clenching [TS]

  his fists in rage [TS]

yeah yes we can clench his fist far away [TS]

on vacation especially he's only [TS]

victories his monocle just fell out know [TS]

why i have another great in the florists [TS]

doesn't I don't wanna go file spot any [TS]

episode with a monocle gag is alright by [TS]

me all right well that ends our flash [TS]

podcast i think let's kill Hitler will [TS]

be back sooner or later with some more [TS]

about this little episode second half of [TS]

the season of doctor who i'm not sure [TS]

when but in the next week or two until [TS]

then I'd like to thank my flash guests [TS]

serenity Caldwell Scott McNulty dan [TS]

  more'n Glenn fleischmann thanks [TS]

  everybody [TS]

thank you and until next time I'm a [TS]

  standstill for the uncomfortable [TS]

  thanks for listening [TS]

  [Music] [TS]

accidentally eat the new plot that I [TS]

just decided that I'm gonna write a book [TS]

called let's kill hitler oh look I know [TS]

what Scott is my target should people [TS]

behind the spaceship that's also a man [TS]

come up with a new plan called let's [TS]

build Hitler i like the idea of selling [TS]

a book called but squirrels filter for [TS]

me to like now we can set off the Nazis [TS]

let's examine our season with my name is [TS]

some overlap but not see quilters who [TS]

doesn't want to snuggle with Hitler [TS]

night vision that is obviously we're [TS]

still recording so i can have blackmail [TS]

material on my mind i am still recording [TS]

  our girl [TS]

yeah that is enough probably play nazi [TS]

  cultures from Mars [TS]

oh oh that's all right let's go back to [TS]

let's quilt shop where I like that but [TS]

I'm surprised that there was not a [TS]

single performance of springtime for [TS]

Hitler in this entire episode handle at [TS]

this point i was i was hoping another [TS]

rich when I came out but yeah it's not [TS]

that y'all really gonna sink that was [TS]

that was a good bit i like yeah I like [TS]

the left leg fell asleep [TS]

yes i'm going to go right legs or you're [TS]

on campus it was a little wasn't a [TS]

little love princess bride you know to [TS]

  the pain [TS]

not quite i guess because he was already [TS]

lying down and that it was just [TS]

delightful was good yeah I like that all [TS]

the time but it's just been a doctor who [TS]

that I just had absolutely no idea what [TS]

was going to happen i was just on the [TS]

roller coaster ride it was great i [TS]

thought that Smith was his most [TS]

enjoyable in this episode with the least [TS]

sort of ticks and sort of you know stock [TS]

phrases they were trying out and the [TS]

least smuggling always this way through [TS]

but when he's on the on the floor dying [TS]

both in and out of the TARDIS I thought [TS]

I thought that was great stuff like I [TS]

thought that was his best performance he [TS]

felt that you felt the weight of it you [TS]

felt old and dying and not quite sure [TS]

what was gonna happen next i thought [TS]

  that was great [TS]

yep it was wrong to the podcast around [TS]

all mutually this is the beginning of [TS]

the podcast right now yes we're going [TS]

  back [TS]

quiz actor friend mobius strip yeah it [TS]

was just another song you better stop [TS]

recording father and I can't recording [TS]

don't happen i'm holding her she's with [TS]

master on podcast then we can 14 i [TS]

really like the touch where when the guy [TS]

in the spaceship but that was the guy [TS]

spoke on his little microphones little [TS]

Captain Kirk microphone on his chair [TS]

that you that they had Karen Gillan [TS]

saying those lines perfectly time with [TS]

him saying it and you never cut away and [TS]

saw robot Amy saying it but it was just [TS]

there it was a really nice touch [TS]

I love just that Roma robot Amy when [TS]

they're like helpless doctor please help [TS]

  us [TS]

she's saying it but with no emotion [TS]

whatsoever and then you're cutting back [TS]

and forth with Amy who's like completely [TS]

a motive and like a boss who's good [TS]

Karen Gillan the ass women's there being [TS]

other people knocked her locker lack of [TS]

acting but I think she's actually I [TS]

don't like her you would go down [TS]

I wouldn't know that looks great to me [TS]

that likes all acting exactly [TS]

Oh Hitler okay I'm gonna go at this and [TS]

then post it i think i added a post-it [TS]

idea that Charlie a popular pretty good [TS]

with us before we started Franklin yeah [TS]

time travel yeah I just recorded a [TS]

podcast by myself and I just you know [TS]

improve do impressions of you guys I [TS]

  guess who [TS]

hello jason this is got LT I would love [TS]

to hear all set up Jason I have to have [TS]

some tea before I can do [TS]

of course actually is where it's a [TS]

historic decatur pants to do that just [TS]

it's i got to get in a moment for that [TS]

  one [TS]

you weren't on my pretend podcast for [TS]

  this very reason [TS]

Oh lad i was looking for such also [TS]

joining me today is going placement and [TS]

darth vader and I want to keep trees [TS]

less heavily think it's a trap [TS]

I have no idea i amusing myself knowing [TS]

I live without you don't say we're done [TS]

yeah but I were Glenn I'd be very [TS]

embarrassed by my heavy bridge risk i'd [TS]

be embarrassed by my love not too sad [TS]

times to writing this our market huh I [TS]

like about yesterday called dropbox link [TS]

for this one run as we're talking about [TS]

LOL dark complexes have got a bad rap [TS]

keep going down the rabbit hole this guy [TS]

  just keep going [TS]

who did that boot up by the way was that [TS]

like MC Google's and it couldn't [TS]

pronounce Beautiful's name so it's [TS]

tempting kooples ya know it DJ tytler it [TS]

is how did you know where Dempsey [TS]

Google's along with them a little goring [TS]

lilburn little Doric still going to [TS]

miniaturize robot people come for us all [TS]
