00:10:10 ◼   ► And we have hit, as of a few days ago, since twenty nineteen, a

00:10:15 ◼   ► lifetime total of five million dollars raised for St.

00:10:26 ◼   ► Oh my god, you just gave me a heart attack.

00:10:50 ◼   ► We raised 315 grand the first year, which absolutely blew my expectations out of

00:10:55 ◼   ► And it's it's gotten bigger and bigger.

00:10:58 ◼   ► It is it is stunning, a stunning amount of money.

00:11:03 ◼   ► I mean, it is because of the relay and Apple community that we're able

00:11:19 ◼   ► So it takes everyone to beat something like childhood cancer.

00:11:24 ◼   ► Uh childhood cancer is something that when Saint Jude was founded back in nineteen

00:11:31 ◼   ► sixty two, it was It was thought to be basically universally fatal.

00:11:37 ◼   ► And the folks who were there at the beginning knew that wasn't true.

00:11:41 ◼   ► And they started working on cures.

00:11:44 ◼   ► And if you go through the history of St.

00:11:45 ◼   ► Jude, it is absolutely amazing what they've been able to do in the years

00:11:50 ◼   ► since.

00:11:51 ◼   ► Uh thanks to in part to their therapies that they have uh designed and

00:11:57 ◼   ► put together at St.

00:11:58 ◼   ► Jude, more than 80% of US childhood cancer patients survey survive now.

00:12:03 ◼   ► That's up from twenty percent when they started.

00:12:05 ◼   ► Think about how much progress has been made.

00:12:08 ◼   ► But that is only here in the US.

00:12:11 ◼   ► In other parts of the world, the number is not that good.

00:12:15 ◼   ► So St.

00:12:15 ◼   ► Jude works to get their treatment shared.

00:12:17 ◼   ► Around the world.

00:12:18 ◼   ► We we've spoken about that before with their global initiatives.

00:12:21 ◼   ► Uh just because you're somewhere else doesn't mean you shouldn't treatment that St.

00:12:26 ◼   ► Jude can can offer.

00:12:28 ◼   ► So they're hard at work at that, but they're also hard at work on

00:12:31 ◼   ► their own campus.

00:12:32 ◼   ► A bunch of people travel to St.

00:12:33 ◼   ► Jude to have their children treated.

00:12:36 ◼   ► Um, and there are two new towers that are being built right now, two

00:12:39 ◼   ► fifteen patient, fifteen story outpatient clinics and clinical offices.

00:12:44 ◼   ► Um Plus a new research tower being built.

00:12:47 ◼   ► Um those clinical towers are really cool.

00:12:50 ◼   ► So we have been a St.

00:12:51 ◼   ► Jude patient.

00:12:52 ◼   ► My son was diagnosed in 2009.

00:12:54 ◼   ► He's getting ready to be 18 and he's doing super well because of St.

00:12:58 ◼   ► Jude.

00:12:59 ◼   ► But these clinical buildings, like it's a great example of Saint Jude responding to

00:13:04 ◼   ► what patients need.

00:13:06 ◼   ► Um, the whole time we've been there, clinics have been scattered throughout a couple

00:13:09 ◼   ► of buildings at St.

00:13:10 ◼   ► Jude, and you spend a lot of time kind of going between them as

00:13:13 ◼   ► you would like you would any hospital.

00:13:15 ◼   ► And so they are putting all that under one roof.

00:13:17 ◼   ► And so most of the time when you have a clinical appointment to St.

00:13:21 ◼   ► Jude, they're all gonna be in this one new, absolutely beautiful building.

00:13:26 ◼   ► Mike you've you haven't seen it in a year, but it is really a

00:13:29 ◼   ► a stunning place.

00:13:30 ◼   ► I look forward to seeing it.

00:13:32 ◼   ► Um and those research towers are just as important.

00:13:34 ◼   ► Saint Jude employs thousands of researchers working across all sorts of aspects of cancer

00:13:41 ◼   ► treatment and cure research.

00:13:44 ◼   ► All of these people are way smarter than me.

00:13:46 ◼   ► But anytime we get to meet them, anytime I get to interact with a

00:13:50 ◼   ► researcher at St.

00:13:51 ◼   ► Jude or a research team, I am blown away by their passion for their

00:13:55 ◼   ► work.

00:13:55 ◼   ► They're there because they want and believe they can defeat childhood cancer and other

00:14:02 ◼   ► catastrophic disease.

00:14:03 ◼   ► And these people are doing their life's work, their life's best work at St

00:14:07 ◼   ► at Saint Jude.

00:14:08 ◼   ► So those research towers are home for them for their work.

00:14:12 ◼   ► And they're incredible spaces as well.

00:14:14 ◼   ► We've got to see some of that over the years.

00:14:16 ◼   ► Um absolutely amazing work being done.

00:14:21 ◼   ► Uh between those projects, that's a eight hundred and ten million dollar investment that

00:14:25 ◼   ► represents Saint Jude's serious commitment to accelerating their research capabilities.

00:14:32 ◼   ► Um, really, really incredible.

00:14:35 ◼   ► But your money goes further than that.

00:14:37 ◼   ► It goes to paying for meals for families when they're on campus.

00:14:41 ◼   ► It goes for paying for travel for people who aren't in Memphis.

00:14:43 ◼   ► I was fortunate.

00:14:45 ◼   ► My family was fortunate that we were here, that St.

00:14:47 ◼   ► Jude was in literally my backyard.

00:14:49 ◼   ► But But most people have to travel here.

00:14:52 ◼   ► St.

00:14:52 ◼   ► Jude takes care of all of that for them.

00:14:54 ◼   ► There's housing on campus and off campus if you're here for extended periods of

00:14:58 ◼   ► time.

00:14:59 ◼   ► They have housing where you can bring your spouse and your other children.

00:15:03 ◼   ► Very often families kind of get split up in this time because there's treatment

00:15:07 ◼   ► here and maybe there's siblings that are still in school back home.

00:15:10 ◼   ► And when family can be together, St.

00:15:12 ◼   ► Jude wants to facilitate that in the best way that there can.

00:17:37 ◼   ► And they they have iPad minis.

00:17:39 ◼   ► And what they're doing is they're like making a little note about, like, oh,

00:17:42 ◼   ► um, this handsome Italian man with the tattoos is in a black t-shirt.

00:17:46 ◼   ► And then when it's time for Federico to get his phone fixed, hopefully he's

00:17:50 ◼   ► in the area they sent him to, but they also have a description of

00:17:53 ◼   ► him.

00:17:54 ◼   ► It's I mean we've all experienced it.

00:17:56 ◼   ► It's it's frustrating.

00:17:57 ◼   ► That is a s it's like a stupid system, right?

00:18:12 ◼   ► And so uh the the rumor is the genius bar is going to return

00:18:15 ◼   ► instead of the stupid genius grove where you're sitting on chairs chairs just sad

00:18:20 ◼   ► Um and dedicated pick a berry would be awesome.

00:18:24 ◼   ► My store at least has that.

00:18:25 ◼   ► It's kind of a a table, but then they send you to it, but

00:18:28 ◼   ► it's like different.

00:18:29 ◼   ► They change where the table is over time.

00:18:30 ◼   ► Uh and again someone has to direct you there.

00:18:33 ◼   ► It it needs to be more traditional.

00:18:36 ◼   ► And this seems like uh a move towards that, or like there's gonna be

00:18:42 ◼   ► a place where you can get support and you line up and like all

00:18:45 ◼   ► these things that normal stores have, the Apple store should have too.

00:18:49 ◼   ► I think the current system would have worked much better if it was at

00:18:55 ◼   ► the time I was a genius, like almost 20 years ago now where there

00:19:00 ◼   ► was as much less volume in the store.

00:19:02 ◼   ► The stores were just not as busy.

00:19:04 ◼   ► They are very busy now.

00:19:05 ◼   ► Even even the Memphis store, you know, we're a small market, the stores always

00:19:09 ◼   ► crowded.

00:19:10 ◼   ► And with that increased traffic, you need increased organization and Apple just has not

00:19:15 ◼   ► done that.

00:19:15 ◼   ► So I'm very encouraged by this report.

00:19:18 ◼   ► Um and I really hope that it uh comes to fruition.

00:19:21 ◼   ► Something I found interesting is like it seems like in a lot of stores,

00:19:25 ◼   ► the way that they will add in the space for the genius bar is

00:19:29 ◼   ► by removing the huge screens that they have.

00:19:32 ◼   ► Yeah.

00:19:32 ◼   ► Which is just that is an e that is a very big change to

00:19:36 ◼   ► the way an Apple store looks.

00:19:37 ◼   ► Right.

00:19:38 ◼   ► Like they all have these huge screens in them.

00:19:41 ◼   ► Um and which are used for various things, whether it's for uh marketing or

00:19:47 ◼   ► for classes, and they're gonna move the classes to different parts of the stores

00:19:50 ◼   ► to kinda shrink those down.

00:19:51 ◼   ► Which doesn't also doesn't surprise me because I feel like I have never seen

00:19:56 ◼   ► a class in an Apple store at even half of the capacity that they

00:20:00 ◼   ► have for the classes at the Apple Store.

00:20:03 ◼   ► P and people don't pay attention to them.

00:20:04 ◼   ► Like it's it's a good thing to have, but maybe they could scale that

00:20:17 ◼   ► Right which is support for their broken products.

00:20:21 ◼   ► The time has passed, I think, where the Apple store needs to be educational

00:20:25 ◼   ► to the level that it has been.

00:20:27 ◼   ► Surely you still need some things, right?

00:20:28 ◼   ► Like if someone gets their first phone, maybe pull them aside and walk them

00:20:31 ◼   ► through some stuff.

00:20:32 ◼   ► Back when I was there, they had the creative program.

00:20:36 ◼   ► So we had geniuses for support and creative for education.

00:20:39 ◼   ► And you could sign up for like one-to-one and come in and like learn

00:20:43 ◼   ► how to use aperture, learn how to keep use keynote.

00:20:45 ◼   ► Uh an Apple store employee would like help you with your project over time.

00:20:49 ◼   ► But I think we're mostly past that.

00:20:51 ◼   ► And the screens and that like sort of like, hey, there's a class, that's

00:20:55 ◼   ► really also an echo.

00:20:57 ◼   ► A bunch of original Apple stores, including ours before they renovated it.

00:21:00 ◼   ► And then they moved it, had a theater in the back.

00:21:04 ◼   ► And you know what?

00:21:05 ◼   ► It was pretty cool when Panther came out to sit in the theater and

00:21:08 ◼   ► watch somebody like show you how brush metal looked.

00:21:11 ◼   ► Or when Tiger came out, like to do a spotlight demo.

00:21:14 ◼   ► But again the time has passed for those things.

00:22:29 ◼   ► another uh another revision to to what the Apple store is.

00:22:35 ◼   ► In addition to fixing the Apple store, I have also fixed Apple Care One.

00:22:41 ◼   ► I did do that.

00:22:43 ◼   ► Some personal news.

00:22:45 ◼   ► Apple announced, I don't know when it was, a couple years ago maybe?

00:22:48 ◼   ► Apple Care One, where where you could have up to three devices on an

00:22:52 ◼   ► Apple Care plan.

00:22:53 ◼   ► It was nineteen ninety nine a month and you could swap them in and

00:22:56 ◼   ► out.

00:22:57 ◼   ► So I had my Mac, my phone, I think my iPad on mine.

00:23:01 ◼   ► And you get a new phone, you take the old one off, put the

00:23:04 ◼   ► new one on all done within the settings app.

00:23:07 ◼   ► Pretty straightforward.

00:23:09 ◼   ► But there were limitations.

00:23:11 ◼   ► Um, Syracuse Surrana to this where like if you logged out of a Mac

00:23:15 ◼   ► into a different user, it would say, Oh no, you you're no longer part

00:23:18 ◼   ► of Apple Care.

00:23:19 ◼   ► It's like what is happening?

00:23:20 ◼   ► And you couldn't do families.

00:23:23 ◼   ► So I had to have one, my wife had to have one, and it

00:23:27 ◼   ► was kind of a mess.

00:23:28 ◼   ► And so they've announced Apple Care one for families.

00:23:32 ◼   ► The setup is really e was really easy.

00:23:35 ◼   ► So I went into my phone running I was twenty seven, canceled my Apple

00:23:39 ◼   ► Care One, applied for Apple Care One for families, and uh I think it

00:23:45 ◼   ► is running uh

00:23:48 ◼   ► forty nine bucks a month.

00:23:49 ◼   ► And

00:23:51 ◼   ► but I have twenty devices on it.

00:23:55 ◼   ► So uh and and like my kids' devices, like I was just using just

00:24:00 ◼   ► the you know, the just the warranty.

00:24:02 ◼   ► I didn't have Apple Care on those, so that that's probably much better now.

00:24:05 ◼   ► Um I'm shocked none of my kids have broken a phone.

00:24:07 ◼   ► You know, you think they'd follow in my footsteps.

00:24:10 ◼   ► But I added it to my phone.

00:24:13 ◼   ► And then Mary got a notification like, hey, would you like to be added

00:24:17 ◼   ► to this?

00:24:18 ◼   ► And so I got her laptop and said yes, canceled her Apple Care One.

00:24:22 ◼   ► We got rebates, like a pro rated rebate for those.

00:24:24 ◼   ► And then it automatically added my kids' devices because we're in an iCloud family.

00:24:28 ◼   ► This is obviously the backbone of this.

00:24:30 ◼   ► And so it added my kids, you know, phones, a couple of iPads, a

00:24:34 ◼   ► laptop, and got 20 devices on there.

00:24:37 ◼   ► And they're all listed.

00:24:38 ◼   ► And I can just go through here and um and see them all.

00:24:42 ◼   ► Is twenty the amount you can have, or that's just how many you have.

00:24:45 ◼   ► That's how many we have, uh as a family of five.

00:24:48 ◼   ► I don't know if there's an upper limit upper limit.

00:24:52 ◼   ► But um we have twenty devices covered now for the um I mean single

00:24:57 ◼   ► price.

00:24:58 ◼   ► Surely there has to be, right?

00:24:59 ◼   ► 'Cause like Apple Care One is up to three products.

00:25:05 ◼   ► Right.

00:25:05 ◼   ► So all Apple has said I think, yes, it's $49 a month, thank you.

00:25:09 ◼   ► Um I think all Apple has said is for eligible devices.

00:25:14 ◼   ► And I didn't have any

00:25:17 ◼   ► that weren't eligible that I'm aware of.

00:25:20 ◼   ► Yeah.

00:25:21 ◼   ► And they FAQ is it as you say, right?

00:25:23 ◼   ► Apple Care One Family covers all eligible devices for up to six people in

00:25:29 ◼   ► your family.

00:25:30 ◼   ► Yeah, which is the limit of iCloud families which should be higher, six is

00:25:34 ◼   ► not enough people, but whatever.

00:25:35 ◼   ► I mean that's actually fifty dollars a month is a lot of money, right?

00:25:39 ◼   ► I think that is a lot of money for a for a subscription.

00:25:43 ◼   ► But if you have like five people that will have devices and and net

00:25:48 ◼   ► And now these days, like every single one of those people can have three

00:25:52 ◼   ► or four things, right?

00:25:53 ◼   ► And like if they're all covered, that's actually not that bad.

00:25:56 ◼   ► Yeah, I think it's like two dollars and fifty cents a month per device

00:26:00 ◼   ► for me.

00:26:01 ◼   ► Again, you gotta do your own math, right?

00:26:03 ◼   ► If it's you and a partner in the iCloud family and each have two

00:26:05 ◼   ► devices, obviously this isn't a good deal.

00:26:07 ◼   ► Do the other one.

00:26:08 ◼   ► Um but for us, I was only doing Mary and I under Apple Care

00:26:13 ◼   ► One because it was twenty dollars apiece.

00:26:14 ◼   ► So we were already spending forty dollars a month.

00:26:16 ◼   ► And so really to add all those other devices that my kids are using,

00:26:21 ◼   ► um for us, my math, it was it was a good deal.

00:26:26 ◼   ► Um it all it has theft and loss coverage which is awesome.

00:26:31 ◼   ► And uh new purchase products are automatically added, which is also a nice benefit.

00:26:35 ◼   ► With Apple Care One, when you got a new device, it would ask you,

00:26:40 ◼   ► hey, do you want to add this?

00:26:42 ◼   ► And if you had something else, you had to go in there and remove

00:26:44 ◼   ► it, and then you could add the new one.

00:26:46 ◼   ► It was okay.

00:26:47 ◼   ► But this being automatic is great.

00:26:49 ◼   ► Like if you know, in a couple years when I got kids in college

00:26:54 ◼   ► and you know, say they're still in my iCloud family, that which they probably

00:26:57 ◼   ► will be for a while, and they get a new phone, like it just

00:27:00 ◼   ► automatically covers under this, like we don't have to do anything.

00:27:03 ◼   ► It feels very well, well thought through.

00:27:06 ◼   ► And so pretty nice.

00:27:07 ◼   ► So I moved to it.

00:27:08 ◼   ► It was very smooth.

00:27:09 ◼   ► I was a little nervous.

00:27:10 ◼   ► You know, you know how sometimes these things are with a new Apple service.

00:27:13 ◼   ► You're like, I'm gonna hit the button.

00:27:15 ◼   ► What's gonna happen?

00:27:16 ◼   ► But it was totally fine.

00:27:21 ◼   ► I could imagine maybe at some point signing up for this, I'm still trying

00:27:25 ◼   ► to reconcile with my return to getting Apple Care on things after being so

00:27:29 ◼   ► annoyed at them a few years ago.

00:27:32 ◼   ► But maybe once I'm a little bit into this.

00:27:34 ◼   ► But it's like you know, I'm I'm at the moment I'm just getting on

00:27:36 ◼   ► an iPhone and like the iPhone is like a hundred dollars and that's like

00:27:45 ◼   ► Hundred and fifty for a year.

00:27:46 ◼   ► So fifty dollars a month feels like a bit much, but And obviously there's

00:44:07 ◼   ► this is gonna be a huge deal and it's like it was okay, but

00:44:19 ◼   ► way past the timeline where anything can happen in a phone camera that makes

00:45:08 ◼   ► And then, you know, you just figure that the rest of it just kind

00:45:44 ◼   ► One thing the variable aperture does give you, and maybe the place where it's

00:45:49 ◼   ► most noticeable is depth of field.

00:45:52 ◼   ► And so st uh Stallman had in his video the shot of like a

00:45:57 ◼   ► cowboy and a horse was signed up behind him like in the frame.

00:46:01 ◼   ► And by default, basically the cowboy would be in focus and the horse would

00:46:06 ◼   ► be softer.

00:46:07 ◼   ► And if you do adjust that aperture, you can get both into focus or

00:46:12 ◼   ► you can do group shots better.

00:46:13 ◼   ► Like there are benefits to it.

00:46:16 ◼   ► It's just not night and day because of the the the tiny nature um

00:46:22 ◼   ► nature of these things.

00:46:24 ◼   ► But the the pro control stuff where you can have quicker access to a

00:46:29 ◼   ► lot of settings, I think is most compelling to somebody like Tyler, where you

00:46:33 ◼   ► can really dial in stuff.

00:46:35 ◼   ► And some of the stuff is new, some of it was hidden before.

00:46:38 ◼   ► Apple's taking a step in the direction of, you know, pro level uh tools

00:46:45 ◼   ► Um, I do wonder if normal people will be confused by this stuff or

00:46:49 ◼   ► like, you know, just basically you can ignore it if you don't if you

00:46:53 ◼   ► don't want it, it's a little run cover to me.

00:56:48 ◼   ► Um some of the shortcuts automations are especially useful on the iPad.

00:56:55 ◼   ► but you know the keyboard automation trigger is especially nice on the iPad when

00:56:59 ◼   ► you combine it with the magic keyboard, for example.

00:57:03 ◼   ► So it's mostly about iOS.

00:57:46 ◼   ► Has to become something that Apple keeps improving over the next few years, especially

00:57:58 ◼   ► ironic that Apple is saying you can get all of these third party apps

00:58:01 ◼   ► to work in Siri AI, but if you go to the App Store, download

00:58:04 ◼   ► a third party app and then try to use it immediately with Siri AI,

00:58:08 ◼   ► it doesn't work because it's it's not indexed right away.

00:58:11 ◼   ► Um so that that that has to become something that gets fixed eventually, right?

00:58:16 ◼   ► Um But I think overall uh it does work.

00:58:20 ◼   ► And especially once the indexing is done and up to date, uh you can

00:58:25 ◼   ► get some pretty pretty great results from C AI with your email.

00:58:29 ◼   ► Uh obviously some things still work locally, like if you ask to set a

00:58:33 ◼   ► timer or if you control home kit devices, um it all happens locally on

00:58:38 ◼   ► device.

00:58:39 ◼   ► I think it's a little bit of a miracle that the company that was

00:58:43 ◼   ► two years more than two years late to the promises um came out with

00:58:48 ◼   ► this very lofty goal of a system orchestrator that handles like five different models

00:58:55 ◼   ► and everybody and everybody was like, Yeah, sure.

00:58:57 ◼   ► Uh sure, Craig, you're gonna make it work by September.

00:59:02 ◼   ► I mean, by all means it does work.

00:59:05 ◼   ► Um, so that's impressive.

00:59:07 ◼   ► It shows that the original ideas that they had were good ideas.

00:59:29 ◼   ► Those foundation models, even the cloud pro model, the the big fancy one in

00:59:34 ◼   ► private cloud computers, like it's not a it's not a good model.

00:59:38 ◼   ► It's good enough for what's needed right now.

00:59:41 ◼   ► They have a good uh I found more surprising, honestly, how surprisingly good the

00:59:48 ◼   ► Apple world knowledge database can be, more so than the quality of Cloud Pro.

00:59:55 ◼   ► So I think they're gonna, it's gonna be interesting to see how frequently Apple

01:03:07 ◼   ► and describe a shortcut will happily make a third party app shortcut for you.

01:08:37 ◼   ► if you have a notch or a narrow screen, but you have very little

01:08:40 ◼   ► control over how it actually works.

01:08:46 ◼   ► It it that is my favorite feature in Golden Gate.

01:08:49 ◼   ► But it's chaos.

01:08:50 ◼   ► Like let me have control over it.

01:08:52 ◼   ► Like if you have a lot of stuff.

01:08:54 ◼   ► Yeah, I I I got rid of lots of stuff from my menu bar

01:09:03 ◼   ► Like if I would start timery, it would push everything out because timery can

01:10:01 ◼   ► You can manage background apps in the doc and in system settings.

01:10:06 ◼   ► So for a couple years now, you can tell Apple or tell macOS, uh,

01:10:11 ◼   ► I don't want this app running in the background.

01:10:13 ◼   ► Likewise, you can say I don't want this app visible in the menu bar.

01:10:16 ◼   ► But

01:10:18 ◼   ► it's this middle step is not what I want.

01:10:21 ◼   ► Like this happened because I had closed my last Photoshop document.

01:10:25 ◼   ► It's still running.

01:10:26 ◼   ► I want it running because I'm in and out of Photoshop all the time.

01:10:30 ◼   ► I don't need to be reminded that it's still running.

01:10:33 ◼   ► And what's weirder is in the doc, you know, in the doc you get

01:10:36 ◼   ► little dots if an app is running, which is optional for some reason.

01:10:42 ◼   ► These apps that macOS has determined are running in the background get a 50%

01:10:48 ◼   ► opacity dot,

01:10:50 ◼   ► which I guess is logical within the system, but the system is bad.

01:10:55 ◼   ► Like maybe have this on for standard users, but I run as an administrator.

01:10:59 ◼   ► Like I I understand that just because an app doesn't have any windows in

01:11:03 ◼   ► it, it's still running.

01:11:04 ◼   ► And you c as far as I can tell, you can't turn it off.

01:11:07 ◼   ► See I thought that this was for when apps are doing things that you

01:11:11 ◼   ► don't want 'em to do, kind of thing.

01:11:14 ◼   ► But it in this case, like Photoshop literally just was sitting there with no

01:11:17 ◼   ► open windows.

01:11:19 ◼   ► Right.

01:11:19 ◼   ► I don't understand why you know maybe they're gonna find out.

01:11:25 ◼   ► Like I've chosen that.

01:11:26 ◼   ► Right.

01:11:27 ◼   ► I did have this for Photoshop when I quit it.

01:11:31 ◼   ► It popped back up again.

01:11:33 ◼   ► That was when I saw it.

01:11:34 ◼   ► And I think it was updating.

01:11:35 ◼   ► It was dude.

01:11:36 ◼   ► Adobe was doing whatever the on earth Adobe does on my computer all the

01:11:42 ◼   ► Uh it was doing something there.

01:11:44 ◼   ► And then I just manually quit it from there again.

01:11:46 ◼   ► Like n this is after I quit the app.

01:11:47 ◼   ► So like I s that's the only experience I've had of it so far.

01:11:50 ◼   ► And I was like, that's interesting.

01:11:52 ◼   ► Um but if I was doing what you're doing, if I've just like got

01:11:55 ◼   ► just closed all my windows, it's like the app is running like it's supposed

01:11:58 ◼   ► to be.

01:11:59 ◼   ► It's not running in background.

01:12:01 ◼   ► Like it It's a choice that you have made as a user.

01:12:05 ◼   ► I keep getting that Intel thing too, and it's stressing me out.

01:12:09 ◼   ► I have yeah, because this is the last so Rosetta is not installed by

01:12:13 ◼   ► default with Golden Gate on a clean install.

01:12:16 ◼   ► And it is the last version of Mac OS that is going to support

01:12:20 ◼   ► Rosetta 2 at all.

01:12:22 ◼   ► And they are really hitting home that that's the case.

01:12:26 ◼   ► And it's freaking me out, man, because there's some apps that I got in

01:12:28 ◼   ► there that I just don't do anything about it and then and then I

01:12:32 ◼   ► don't know what I'm gonna do when they stop working.

01:12:36 ◼   ► And it's stressing me out.

01:12:41 ◼   ► I know like the software for my label printer is in there.

01:12:45 ◼   ► Um I think that's the main one that I have still but a bunch

01:12:51 ◼   ► software because I never really want to touch the Logitech software.

01:12:55 ◼   ► So that's one the um I use an app called webcam settings that can

01:13:00 ◼   ► let me change the hertz rate on the camera because

01:13:05 ◼   ► Apple just think that you don't need to worry about that, even though you

01:13:08 ◼   ► absolutely do, because of Wiser Camera Flickers.

01:13:11 ◼   ► Then I also have the Family Feud app.

01:13:13 ◼   ► Mmm.

01:13:15 ◼   ► When we play Family Feud.

01:13:16 ◼   ► So I don't know what we're gonna do there because the people that make

01:13:18 ◼   ► those apps

01:13:20 ◼   ► insist that they must be made in Adobe Air.

01:13:23 ◼   ► And so I don't know what we're gonna do uh past this year.

01:13:29 ◼   ► You just have we have an old machine running, you know.

01:14:13 ◼   ► Because boy is dark mode looks really different and I don't think I like

01:14:21 ◼   ► So I I went on this great website uh called five hundred and twelve

01:14:25 ◼   ► pixels and they put together the screenshot library and it shows clearly what I

01:14:30 ◼   ► want you to look at is if you look at the menu uh like

01:14:34 ◼   ► the the the menu, like there's there's a uh y any of the menus.

01:14:40 ◼   ► I think this is I don't remember what this uh image is, but it's

01:14:44 ◼   ► like showing a bunch of windows, the Nuts app and it shows a a

01:14:51 ◼   ► So you have pulled the custom color for my MacBook Neo and then multicolor

01:15:14 ◼   ► Well part of it is this is dark mode is really affected by your

01:15:21 ◼   ► And so this looks bronzier, but I think that's because of the wallpaper primarily.

01:15:26 ◼   ► Ignor ignore the wallpaper because I can tell you I have not changed my

01:15:31 ◼   ► The the thing that is going on here is all of the menus, so

01:15:35 ◼   ► the contextual menus, the menus from the menu bar, they're way that that that

01:15:42 ◼   ► Bright visually.

01:15:44 ◼   ► So it doesn't feel in keeping with dark mode.

01:15:48 ◼   ► Like they they've brightened the menus.

01:15:50 ◼   ► And I and and it's it looks very jarring to me.

01:15:54 ◼   ► And I don't really know why they've done this, like it and it's not

01:16:00 ◼   ► affected by the transparency situation.

01:16:03 ◼   ► Um like you know, like the amount of clearness.

01:16:06 ◼   ► Like it it's just they seem to have brightened it.

01:16:09 ◼   ► So I don't like that, but I'm gonna get used to that.

01:16:12 ◼   ► It's noticeable to me right now because I've just upgraded my Mac, right?

01:16:15 ◼   ► Um, but in a couple of weeks' time I'm not gonna see it anymore.

01:16:18 ◼   ► But it is an an odd decision to me.

01:16:20 ◼   ► Uh but the fact that I was the only person that I know that

01:16:24 ◼   ► seems to have felt this.

01:16:25 ◼   ► Like I didn't see it in any reviews that I read.

01:16:27 ◼   ► Or like it's like, oh no one uses their Mac in Dark mode.

01:16:30 ◼   ► Yeah, I know.

01:16:31 ◼   ► Uh I'm using I use my Mac in Doc mode all the time.

01:16:35 ◼   ► Um but yeah, I other than that, like the window shaping, the sidebar stuff,

01:16:40 ◼   ► it does look way better.

01:16:42 ◼   ► Like these are things that I didn't really think I would care about and

01:16:44 ◼   ► because they didn't really they didn't really bother me in Tahoe.

01:16:48 ◼   ► Um but I I prefer the way that like finder windows look in in

01:16:52 ◼   ► Golden Gate.

01:16:53 ◼   ► Um the Safari tab organization is much more prominent on the Mac.

01:16:59 ◼   ► And the suggestions that it makes a spot on, I just don't think it's

01:17:02 ◼   ► a feature I would ever use.

01:17:04 ◼   ► Like I don't need my tabs to be organized for me because I don't

01:17:07 ◼   ► keep lots of tabs open.

01:17:09 ◼   ► Um I know people, I know people in my life, in my family who

01:17:13 ◼   ► I love who like have hundreds of tabs that I I I will want

01:17:17 ◼   ► to show this to, but I know they will pay no attention to it

01:17:20 ◼   ► because they somehow think that they can live their life this way anyway.

01:17:23 ◼   ► So I don't think any amount of organization is gonna be something that they're

01:17:25 ◼   ► gonna want.

01:17:26 ◼   ► Have I have I told y'all the story?

01:17:29 ◼   ► One time Mary came home from work and she was like, Hey, I can't

01:17:31 ◼   ► any tabs on my phone.

01:17:33 ◼   ► I was like, Oh, that's weird.

01:17:34 ◼   ► Let me look at it.

01:17:35 ◼   ► Because she had hit the limit of open Safari tabs, which I think is

01:17:38 ◼   ► five hundred.

01:17:41 ◼   ► I don't understand it.

01:17:42 ◼   ► I don't I just don't understand it.

01:17:43 ◼   ► Like it just feels counter to everything that I would want to do on

01:17:47 ◼   ► my phone or my Mac to have so many tabs open, right?

01:17:49 ◼   ► 'Cause like I'm never gonna find anything in there anyway.

01:17:54 ◼   ► Um and I like having the Syrian spotlight.

01:17:58 ◼   ► Um, I am noticing that thing I've seen people talk about this online about

01:18:17 ◼   ► Um and like this idea of like, oh this is coming for an OLED

01:18:21 ◼   ► Like on a on a MacBook Pro, like they're making some changes.

01:18:25 ◼   ► I'm saying it's a bad thing it's just a thing that I have seen

01:18:27 ◼   ► It's like, oh, there is some parts of Golden Gate where like the UI
