00:00:56   just skipped well there's there's [TS]

00:00:57   there's I got reasons there's moving [TS]

00:00:59   microphones around all right it's like [TS]

00:01:01   typing is around like around his piece [TS]

00:01:04   of technology you go opposite corners [TS]

00:01:06   that way all lines up by the time you [TS]

00:01:08   finish we've already learned several [TS]

00:01:09   lessons including you need to talk into [TS]

00:01:10   the microphone or nobody can hear you [TS]

00:01:12   and we're completely out of order Dan [TS]

00:01:13   Morgan is also here hi Dan [TS]

00:01:15   hi Jason welcome to my fine home thank [TS]

00:01:17   you thank you for inviting us or for not [TS]

00:01:20   turning away when we just barged in I [TS]

00:01:22   tried there was no option yeah Andy and [TS]

00:01:24   I know you heard earlier not talking you [TS]

00:01:25   didn't hear earlier not talking into a [TS]

00:01:26   microphone now he will talk into a [TS]

00:01:28   microphone hello I'm sorry I'm not used [TS]

00:01:30   to being in such a fine fine environment [TS]

00:01:32   for podcasting as this sofas tables i'm [TS]

00:01:35   usually just there within my own filth [TS]

00:01:36   on your on your in Lonesome email you [TS]

00:01:39   all may remember Andy from that episode [TS]

00:01:41   of the uncomfortable where he said that [TS]

00:01:43   the Avengers was a b-minus movie and [TS]

00:01:45   everybody lost their minds I a 20-2 [TS]

00:01:48   literally you said b-minus b-minus the [TS]

00:01:51   phrase it's a good lights on a level of [TS]

00:01:53   a transformers move on thats that's what [TS]

00:01:56   i think i lost my I think that was it [TS]

00:01:57   matter that's what I tried to reach [TS]

00:01:59   through the microphone and that doesn't [TS]

00:02:00   work and serenity couples also hello [TS]

00:02:03   hello i'm eating pizza right now [TS]

00:02:05   well aren't we all but that's that's [TS]

00:02:07   part of the fun that's part of the fun [TS]

00:02:08   of of of the age of Ultron the age of [TS]

00:02:11   Ultron includes pizza Ultron supports [TS]

00:02:13   pizza so we saw movie it was the [TS]

00:02:15   Avengers had lots of stuff in it [TS]

00:02:16   anybody want to get started with some of [TS]

00:02:18   their impressions about the age of [TS]

00:02:20   Ultron tony do you have any thoughts [TS]

00:02:22   Tony's giving me the stink eye [TS]

00:02:24   do you do that all the time when I ask [TS]

00:02:26   you questions and you just can't see it [TS]

00:02:27   yeah you can see it that's my Jason's [TS]

00:02:29   talking voice so I well I just saw it so [TS]

00:02:32   I'm still processing it but i enjoyed [TS]

00:02:34   it's time for a podcast about products [TS]

00:02:36   concerned about putting man was you know [TS]

00:02:38   it was your pretty standard exciting [TS]

00:02:39   lots of CGI action movie things lots of [TS]

00:02:42   robots getting destroyed so people who [TS]

00:02:44   are robot may not want me this movie [TS]

00:02:47   you may have you may be upset that [TS]

00:02:49   trigger warning for people who love [TS]

00:02:50   robots right so let's let's talk about [TS]

00:02:53   that you talk about the explosions and [TS]

00:02:54   things blowing up i think that might be [TS]

00:02:56   a good place to start [TS]

00:02:57   one of the things that struck me about [TS]

00:02:58   this movie is it is it is a summer [TS]

00:03:00   blockbuster economy right so there are [TS]

00:03:02   lots of explosions and things but Jason [TS]

00:03:04   I would say the stuff that happens in [TS]

00:03:05   between the explosions is probably more [TS]

00:03:07   interesting and possibly better [TS]

00:03:09   that's what that's what i was going to [TS]

00:03:10   get at is I i am i am happy that there [TS]

00:03:13   were not give that man a microphone [TS]

00:03:15   I'm happy that that there are explosions [TS]

00:03:18   because movies with explosions are fun [TS]

00:03:20   that said I i think the I think the [TS]

00:03:23   strength of this movie that I felt was [TS]

00:03:25   that I i we know these characters we've [TS]

00:03:27   seen him in a lot of movies there were [TS]

00:03:29   interactions that were helped by having [TS]

00:03:32   a history with the characters they they [TS]

00:03:34   uh there were some funny interactions or [TS]

00:03:37   some interactions that I liked I I [TS]

00:03:39   enjoyed that in the moments sometimes I [TS]

00:03:41   see movies like this that are [TS]

00:03:42   blockbusters and in the moments between [TS]

00:03:44   the explosions I am just bored and [TS]

00:03:46   wanted to go to the next explosion and I [TS]

00:03:48   didn't feel that in this movie now Andy [TS]

00:03:50   and I coach holding a microphone so he [TS]

00:03:52   I'm now I see the rest of my time to him [TS]

00:03:55   know i just i was i I like this more [TS]

00:03:58   than I like the first movie and because [TS]

00:04:01   we really were all the podcast is over [TS]

00:04:03   here yeah it's not because I'm getting [TS]

00:04:06   free pizza out of the people that get [TS]

00:04:07   out of the first time that I saw them to [TS]

00:04:09   you [TS]

00:04:09   yes a little disclosure i'm in the [TS]

00:04:12   pocket of deep and completing that [TS]

00:04:15   yeah but yeah i did like remember that [TS]

00:04:17   the one I really didn't like about the [TS]

00:04:19   first one was that I was sincerely bored [TS]

00:04:21   to tears two-thirds I just completely [TS]

00:04:23   had checked out and friend i still think [TS]

00:04:25   this movie had a lot of problems but I [TS]

00:04:27   think with the reasons why i did like it [TS]

00:04:29   more was that they were a lot of these [TS]

00:04:31   moments where they're going to say [TS]

00:04:32   there's gonna be no explosions we're [TS]

00:04:34   going without without any spoilers of [TS]

00:04:35   any kind [TS]

00:04:36   we're gonna have a [TS]

00:04:37   lot of rich scenes and which characters [TS]

00:04:38   get to really get inside their own heads [TS]

00:04:40   and have conversations and that's when [TS]

00:04:42   this movie got really interesting for me [TS]

00:04:44   yeah i agree that John what do you think [TS]

00:04:46   I'm giving my opening statement but if I [TS]

00:04:48   had one it would be it's a very little [TS]

00:04:51   time to prepare an opening statement do [TS]

00:04:52   things well I didn't realize he was [TS]

00:04:54   using he was in a car is writing where r [TS]

00:04:56   SS card so that blue car what i told you [TS]

00:04:59   at the end of the movie is exactly what [TS]

00:05:00   I felt when I was watching the movie [TS]

00:05:01   this is the giant fu de zack snyder and [TS]

00:05:04   Superman sounds like the beginning like [TS]

00:05:05   only taken a couple of jabs at him [TS]

00:05:07   actually another jab actually not [TS]

00:05:09   actually the main theme of this movie [TS]

00:05:10   because he's making Superman movies [TS]

00:05:12   wrong let's save people in the in the in [TS]

00:05:15   the cities and worry about the little [TS]

00:05:16   people [TS]

00:05:17   let's do it together it great yeah and [TS]

00:05:19   so but I know when I was 14 and the [TS]

00:05:22   second impression was that boy there are [TS]

00:05:24   a lot of things this movie there's a lot [TS]

00:05:25   of characters yeah a lot of things [TS]

00:05:27   happen it's just a tremendous amount of [TS]

00:05:29   stuff and seeing it the second time i'm [TS]

00:05:31   looking at how they put it together and [TS]

00:05:32   like its amazingly jandals crap in but [TS]

00:05:34   at some point it's like you have too [TS]

00:05:36   many characters you have too many people [TS]

00:05:38   in this movie you have too many things [TS]

00:05:39   taking place and I think they did an [TS]

00:05:41   admirable job of sewing it all together [TS]

00:05:43   but i don't know if you can sustainably [TS]

00:05:44   make a really great movie with this much [TS]

00:05:47   wrapping it at one point is this a [TS]

00:05:49   completely different John right i mean i [TS]

00:05:51   read a couple articles that that weren't [TS]

00:05:53   reviews but said it's kind of like [TS]

00:05:55   watching an entire season of a TV shows [TS]

00:05:57   and boiled into a movie and I understand [TS]

00:06:00   that the first cut of this movie was [TS]

00:06:01   more than three hours long and included [TS]

00:06:04   way more character stuff and they just [TS]

00:06:05   cut you can't make a movie that long and [TS]

00:06:07   so i can actually would like to see that [TS]

00:06:09   but but at some point in the shandra you [TS]

00:06:12   are selling your ticket you're selling a [TS]

00:06:13   ticket in a movie theater you can't do [TS]

00:06:15   the seven hour long Avengers that would [TS]

00:06:17   probably be pretty good because it would [TS]

00:06:20   then be a joss whedon TV show me serious [TS]

00:06:22   yeah absolutely i mean i actually think [TS]

00:06:25   despite the fact that this movie is [TS]

00:06:27   jam-packed full of stuff they really did [TS]

00:06:29   do an admirable job at making it a fun [TS]

00:06:32   interesting movie to watch like I think [TS]

00:06:34   about some of the other you know really [TS]

00:06:35   big ensemble movies that kind of fall a [TS]

00:06:38   little bit more flat on their faces or [TS]

00:06:40   certain characters don't get shaded out [TS]

00:06:42   or flashed and I'm like I'm looking at [TS]

00:06:44   this movie and some of the characters [TS]

00:06:46   that we really haven't seen get enough [TS]

00:06:47   screen time [TS]

00:06:48   Hawkeye being one of them actually gets [TS]

00:06:50   a fully fleshed-out backstory in the [TS]

00:06:53   middle of all of this insanity and I'm [TS]

00:06:55   like wait how did that just have we have [TS]

00:06:57   the following 12 other people were [TS]

00:06:59   battling robots we have time to learn [TS]

00:07:01   about like what he's like behind the bow [TS]

00:07:04   and arrow like and linda cardellini when [TS]

00:07:06   did she become a mom figure I remember [TS]

00:07:08   when she was just a little high school [TS]

00:07:10   kidding freaks and giveaways goddamn [TS]

00:07:12   bargain for MVP of this movie because a [TS]

00:07:14   yokai got totally unreal like he got the [TS]

00:07:16   shaft in the first movie not perish oh [TS]

00:07:18   thank you thank you i'll be here always [TS]

00:07:19   but i think that you're told here all [TS]

00:07:21   week because you think about Scylla here [TS]

00:07:24   well you know it's the flipside of [TS]

00:07:26   putting up you know a lot of people [TS]

00:07:27   looked at daredevil on netflix and said [TS]

00:07:29   like this reads like a 13 hour movie [TS]

00:07:31   well obviously reads like a three-hour [TS]

00:07:32   TV show right like that's kind of I [TS]

00:07:34   totally agree with you Jason that this [TS]

00:07:35   is kind of a different genre in that way [TS]

00:07:37   and it felt like if they could convince [TS]

00:07:39   stars that big and get a budget that big [TS]

00:07:41   for TV they would have done it on [TS]

00:07:43   teacher or netflix and maybe some point [TS]

00:07:45   in the future that will be a thing [TS]

00:07:46   because Netflix seems to be really [TS]

00:07:48   interesting programming I don't know I [TS]

00:07:49   thought maybe they should have just made [TS]

00:07:51   the four hour long version and cut it [TS]

00:07:52   into and sold two tickets for it that's [TS]

00:07:54   the plan for the next one it's not a [TS]

00:07:55   movie everyone it's not it's not a film [TS]

00:07:57   right it's part of an extension like the [TS]

00:07:59   Harry Potter movies which felt like [TS]

00:08:00   episodes of a TV show [TS]

00:08:02   yeah but the Harry Potter movies you [TS]

00:08:05   they are like they are explicitly saying [TS]

00:08:07   this is ace one story in seven parts and [TS]

00:08:09   if you start with part one and again [TS]

00:08:10   truck on through that you'll get the [TS]

00:08:11   whole story [TS]

00:08:12   my problem with the but my overarching [TS]

00:08:14   problems with today's movie was like [TS]

00:08:16   with most Marvel movies [TS]

00:08:18   coherence is not their focus is not [TS]

00:08:20   there there are times where i was saying [TS]

00:08:23   on the way in that I would I wish there [TS]

00:08:25   were a way you could buy ticket to [TS]

00:08:26   adventures where I will give them fifty [TS]

00:08:28   percent of whatever it would have cost [TS]

00:08:31   me to buy all the tickets to all the [TS]

00:08:32   other movies I need to see all the other [TS]

00:08:34   dvds i need to go through to understand [TS]

00:08:37   everything that's going on in this movie [TS]

00:08:39   like okay so she'll doesn't exist a mark [TS]

00:08:41   was Hydra and why does that not do [TS]

00:08:44   anything and make feet wet with next [TS]

00:08:45   theory how come he's not in ok [TS]

00:08:47   it all makes sense but you do have to [TS]

00:08:49   have seen captain america the winter [TS]

00:08:50   soldier and investment you know they [TS]

00:08:51   have like a blank check in this movie [TS]

00:08:53   that's the problem like the feeling you [TS]

00:08:54   get with these movies is like I really [TS]

00:08:56   Jason I feel like this is unsustainable [TS]

00:08:57   you can't keep doing this like this i [TS]

00:08:59   think this is the limit [TS]

00:09:00   it's amazing that they that's because [TS]

00:09:02   the next Avengers movies going to get [TS]

00:09:03   cut into alright well you're right but [TS]

00:09:06   yet because it's too much stuff and the [TS]

00:09:07   second because it's a blank check its [TS]

00:09:08   not harry potter it's not a series of [TS]

00:09:10   books as going to have an arc or [TS]

00:09:11   something it's like like check Marvel [TS]

00:09:13   Universe well if you look at comic books [TS]

00:09:15   right that's open-ended let's go for [TS]

00:09:17   hundreds of issues when you do that no [TS]

00:09:18   you can't you can't absolutely [TS]

00:09:21   this isn't a comic book this is a movie [TS]

00:09:23   the user interfaces you will get one [TS]

00:09:25   unit of entertainment for ten dollars or [TS]

00:09:26   two and a half hours assignment I and [TS]

00:09:28   this is what i'm saying is i like the [TS]

00:09:30   ambition of it like that Marvel really [TS]

00:09:33   is saying what if we push this into [TS]

00:09:35   something that I mean and yes the its [TS]

00:09:37   commerce to the first movement billion [TS]

00:09:38   dollars but it is the ambition of like [TS]

00:09:40   what if we can tell these stories over [TS]

00:09:42   many many movies but it it's no longer a [TS]

00:09:45   movie at that point and I i really [TS]

00:09:47   enjoyed it I i think that having the [TS]

00:09:49   history of seeing these characters in [TS]

00:09:50   past adds to your appreciation of them [TS]

00:09:53   like serenity said you know seeing [TS]

00:09:55   seeing clint barton and his family [TS]

00:09:57   it's he's helped by that remembering him [TS]

00:09:59   in the first movie being kind of a [TS]

00:10:01   zombie for most of the movie he gets a [TS]

00:10:02   lot of character service at this time [TS]

00:10:03   and that's really great to see and I I [TS]

00:10:06   enjoyed all the characters that that's [TS]

00:10:08   nothing that i will take away from this [TS]

00:10:09   movie more than anything else is that [TS]

00:10:10   that Joss Whedon did a really good job [TS]

00:10:13   of making every moment with those people [TS]

00:10:17   when they weren't blowing things up [TS]

00:10:18   matter in some way and as a fan of Star [TS]

00:10:23   Trek I remember like in Star Trek three [TS]

00:10:25   they're like well we gotta give her [TS]

00:10:27   something to do [TS]

00:10:28   she'll put a guy in a closet but by [TS]

00:10:30   threatening to shoot him with a phaser [TS]

00:10:31   and and it's so hard to service those [TS]

00:10:34   seven characters and here they have like [TS]

00:10:37   a billion characters and yet somehow I [TS]

00:10:41   feel like they did a decent job of [TS]

00:10:42   giving them all some stuff to do and [TS]

00:10:45   some funny lines and some character [TS]

00:10:47   motivation and that's it that's a neat [TS]

00:10:50   trick in the context i feel like this [TS]

00:10:52   very similar to the first movie in the [TS]

00:10:53   sense it's like it's a big corporate [TS]

00:10:55   Fandango where everywhere it's got a [TS]

00:10:57   million characters and how could this be [TS]

00:10:59   entertaining and answers oh actually [TS]

00:11:00   given this structures here did a pretty [TS]

00:11:04   good job you know given the track record [TS]

00:11:05   I'll call sign they're blank check more [TS]

00:11:07   or less like I think it's okay to have [TS]

00:11:10   the sort of open ended it goes on [TS]

00:11:11   forever type of thing but I think the [TS]

00:11:12   problem [TS]

00:11:13   home with the Avengers as an idea as a [TS]

00:11:15   franchise is that is necessarily the [TS]

00:11:17   superhero movie with a whole bunch of [TS]

00:11:19   superheroes in DC ever gets their [TS]

00:11:21   justice league thing they'll have the [TS]

00:11:22   same damn problem or x-men right next [TS]

00:11:25   one I think it works better because that [TS]

00:11:26   kind of their techs minutes one universe [TS]

00:11:28   my family like several interactive noun [TS]

00:11:29   right but you can't like the individual [TS]

00:11:32   Marvel movies I like Captain America the [TS]

00:11:34   individual movies better than this movie [TS]

00:11:36   like all the individual ones i like i [TS]

00:11:38   like better than it's like instead of [TS]

00:11:39   putting all the other you less than the [TS]

00:11:41   sum of the parts i'd rather see movies [TS]

00:11:42   focusing on because if you have just one [TS]

00:11:43   movie about Captain America get to enjoy [TS]

00:11:45   captain america my seam here I like yeah [TS]

00:11:47   like that guy from the movies great [TS]

00:11:49   captain america but the same is true I [TS]

00:11:51   don't you know I like environment he's [TS]

00:11:52   great iron man and maybe I like scarlett [TS]

00:11:54   johansson is a black widow too but like [TS]

00:11:56   another on the same movies flowers the [TS]

00:11:59   other to get up you know me like and [TS]

00:12:01   that i want to see like if you want to [TS]

00:12:02   do this if you want to take like hey we [TS]

00:12:03   have all these great guys and movies [TS]

00:12:04   let's put them in this thing without go [TS]

00:12:06   together you need to do is a TV series [TS]

00:12:07   you can't put them on a single movie now [TS]

00:12:09   I mean they're trying to get those [TS]

00:12:10   moments where they interact with each [TS]

00:12:11   other because they are the stars of [TS]

00:12:13   their own movies now get to interact [TS]

00:12:14   with each other and that can be very [TS]

00:12:15   funny Thor really was well handled in [TS]

00:12:19   this movie to that you get the whole [TS]

00:12:20   thing with the man he doesn't do a lot [TS]

00:12:22   he gets to be quickly but he's not real [TS]

00:12:24   but yeah he has no he has no arc which i [TS]

00:12:26   think is ok because many of Thor's [TS]

00:12:28   movies bore me to tears so that he [TS]

00:12:30   introduces the ark for Avengers 3 and [TS]

00:12:33   the next year's of Marvel and that's [TS]

00:12:35   pretty gay to everybody I mean that is [TS]

00:12:37   pretty huge an unfortunate is it is [TS]

00:12:39   narrative dressing and he and someone [TS]

00:12:41   has to be the person to do it but I [TS]

00:12:42   think the way and that that was all set [TS]

00:12:45   up was very well done where I like the [TS]

00:12:47   fact that we get introduced to i forget [TS]

00:12:51   what was the actual name of scarlet [TS]

00:12:52   witch was her character named one yet so [TS]

00:12:55   I heard assemble that we get introduced [TS]

00:12:59   to a lot of few potential future events [TS]

00:13:02   through windows [TS]

00:13:03   I you know psychic brain alterations and [TS]

00:13:07   the fact that we finally get a name for [TS]

00:13:09   the Infinity stones and it's the [TS]

00:13:11   infinity gems and it said and it's like [TS]

00:13:13   oh yeah this is a thing [TS]

00:13:15   this is dangerous heads up everybody [TS]

00:13:17   remember those things that we've seen in [TS]

00:13:19   previous Marvel movies this is gonna be [TS]

00:13:21   a problem and then we get a mid-credits [TS]

00:13:22   scene of oh yeah this is really going to [TS]

00:13:25   be four [TS]

00:13:26   problem you know and so I don't know I I [TS]

00:13:28   feel like despite the fact that it was [TS]

00:13:30   super packed every single member of the [TS]

00:13:33   Avengers had a qualified arc mostly I [TS]

00:13:37   mean I'm still kind of I rolling at both [TS]

00:13:41   Natasha and the Hulk in terms of like I [TS]

00:13:43   actually think that was very sweet i [TS]

00:13:44   think the the romance ark was done very [TS]

00:13:46   well but you take that out and I'm like [TS]

00:13:49   okay what actually what what is [TS]

00:13:52   natasha's arc here aside from a couple [TS]

00:13:54   of really awesome black widow flashbacks [TS]

00:13:57   now i really want that movie that's [TS]

00:13:59   never gonna come because holy crap [TS]

00:14:02   um that those those few moments I was [TS]

00:14:04   like oh man I just yeah that would be [TS]

00:14:06   beautiful but yeah and then you get [TS]

00:14:09   Bruce Banner we we talk about the [TS]

00:14:11   lullaby and we talked about a couple of [TS]

00:14:13   other things I'm like when did all of [TS]

00:14:14   this happen because I've seen all the [TS]

00:14:16   movies and none of this is a thing this [TS]

00:14:17   Hulk doesn't get his own movies either [TS]

00:14:19   anymore now in that chance that wouldn't [TS]

00:14:21   be a great movie The Black Widow Hulk [TS]

00:14:23   underground we should do that mr. you [TS]

00:14:24   said come between administrative netflix [TS]

00:14:26   from the search the search for the Hulk [TS]

00:14:28   honey I'm Hulk but you put your problem [TS]

00:14:30   hakkasan movie The Hulk smash it was all [TS]

00:14:33   these two of his own meets everybody's [TS]

00:14:35   match you hit upon one of the things i [TS]

00:14:37   like so much more about this movie the [TS]

00:14:38   last 1i thought the last one that [TS]

00:14:40   Natasha was sort of the 21st century [TS]

00:14:43   version of a poorly drawn female [TS]

00:14:45   character where she really is there to [TS]

00:14:48   be strong and a Buttkicker and have no [TS]

00:14:51   different no depth whatsoever and not a [TS]

00:14:53   catsuit the zip up to the neck [TS]

00:14:55   whereas i feel as though they real they [TS]

00:14:57   they allowed her to show weakness and [TS]

00:15:00   then go over her weakness and show why [TS]

00:15:02   she is so good at her job you can only [TS]

00:15:04   do that by throwing this character [TS]

00:15:06   character into situations in which that [TS]

00:15:08   you don't know if they're gonna be able [TS]

00:15:09   to get out of that ok and that's [TS]

00:15:11   something that was that was brand-new I [TS]

00:15:12   think for this movie you can roll your [TS]

00:15:14   eyes at the well okay we're prepared [TS]

00:15:16   these two characters together in Tasha's [TS]

00:15:18   expressing romantic feelings for Bruce [TS]

00:15:20   Banner but but it was the what was good [TS]

00:15:25   about it is it was a pathway into some [TS]

00:15:27   character understanding for the Black [TS]

00:15:28   Widow which I really liked where she [TS]

00:15:30   says you're the guy who tries not to [TS]

00:15:33   kill people and everybody else I know [TS]

00:15:35   tries to kill people [TS]

00:15:36   I like to have [TS]

00:15:37   her like in the captain america movie in [TS]

00:15:39   particular Winter Soldier she was laid [TS]

00:15:41   off as like her whole thing in the [TS]

00:15:42   beginning was like he playing you or is [TS]

00:15:44   she not can you trust her if you're [TS]

00:15:46   really on Nixon very secret mission over [TS]

00:15:48   here in this movie she was allowed to be [TS]

00:15:49   vulnerable like for the first time where [TS]

00:15:51   you where you didn't think the movie was [TS]

00:15:52   trying to fool you into thinking that [TS]

00:15:54   she wasn't really like it was legitimate [TS]

00:15:55   and what she had was doubts about her [TS]

00:15:57   job like maybe I could go live someplace [TS]

00:15:59   else and not kill people for a living [TS]

00:16:01   and talking about how you know that fact [TS]

00:16:04   that she couldn't have kids made her [TS]

00:16:05   think well I guess I'd better just [TS]

00:16:06   killed you know that's there are two of [TS]

00:16:07   them are like you know we should blow [TS]

00:16:09   this popsicle stand like that we don't [TS]

00:16:10   want to be in the Avengers anymore [TS]

00:16:12   they're their particular down and drama [TS]

00:16:14   is private from everybody else which i [TS]

00:16:16   like more or less and that it involves [TS]

00:16:18   something non-superhero it's like you [TS]

00:16:20   know this is my grave knowing i saving [TS]

00:16:21   the world i also like that we spent so [TS]

00:16:23   much time in this case with the two [TS]

00:16:24   normal human characters right both Black [TS]

00:16:28   Widow and Hawkeye get a lot of screen [TS]

00:16:30   time and a lot of story and both of them [TS]

00:16:33   were under utilized in the first movie [TS]

00:16:35   and we've seen at the standalone movies [TS]

00:16:37   for iron man and for Captain America and [TS]

00:16:40   forth or and so in some ways it's ok if [TS]

00:16:43   they don't get as much screen time [TS]

00:16:44   because i started going to because Tony [TS]

00:16:46   Stark is always going to be the prima [TS]

00:16:47   donna and but it's nice to see the [TS]

00:16:50   characters who don't get their own films [TS]

00:16:52   we actually get a while urgent [TS]

00:16:54   screentime kind of felt like this was [TS]

00:16:57   the first time that Black Widow and [TS]

00:16:59   Hawkeye get to have basically wants and [TS]

00:17:01   needs and are just being sent places by [TS]

00:17:03   Nick Fury yeah you know like they get to [TS]

00:17:05   actually do stuff and have interested [TS]

00:17:07   turns out you know Quinn's been doing [TS]

00:17:08   stuff on the side for a long time that [TS]

00:17:09   now we have to find out about that he's [TS]

00:17:11   not just I'm being sent places by Nick [TS]

00:17:13   very Island arrow and explains his his [TS]

00:17:15   loyalty to Nick Fury to that is like [TS]

00:17:17   it's that he's at this thing out in the [TS]

00:17:19   country and that that seen as it is it [TS]

00:17:21   is important dramatic structural thing [TS]

00:17:23   right that is the they get their butts [TS]

00:17:24   kicked they have to recede and lick [TS]

00:17:27   their wounds and think about what [TS]

00:17:28   they've done and then realize they've [TS]

00:17:30   got a new plan of attack and and uh I [TS]

00:17:32   like that I like that scene and I like [TS]

00:17:34   the fact that the Hawkeye is a has a [TS]

00:17:37   family and all that in there i also like [TS]

00:17:38   that it's the it's that disconnected [TS]

00:17:40   like we can literally can't be [TS]

00:17:42   superheroes right now we just need to be [TS]

00:17:44   people mr and yeah and I thought that [TS]

00:17:46   was I thought that was fun and effective [TS]

00:17:48   we will continue this conversation mode [TS]

00:17:51   right now i'm gonna live in a room with [TS]

00:17:53   people read you are first sponsor my [TS]

00:17:56   first sponsor of the other evening is a [TS]

00:17:59   is a graphic novel that this is a new [TS]

00:18:02   one for us so my at my question for all [TS]

00:18:04   of you what what if you could fly what [TS]

00:18:07   if everyone else just had the ability to [TS]

00:18:09   fly one day that is what the new comic [TS]

00:18:12   bizarre new world is all about it's [TS]

00:18:14   similar in tone to some classic stuff [TS]

00:18:17   like back to the future it's a fun [TS]

00:18:18   comedy fantasy it's grounded in the real [TS]

00:18:20   world there no superheroes no capes ok [TS]

00:18:23   no aliens no genius and lamps you check [TS]

00:18:26   out a preview at bizarre new world dot [TS]

00:18:28   com to get a taste of what this bizarre [TS]

00:18:29   new world it's like the story follows an [TS]

00:18:31   ordinary guy Paul kretschmer who is the [TS]

00:18:34   first world's first flying man [TS]

00:18:36   unfortunately his status is the only [TS]

00:18:38   flying man is short-lived when soon [TS]

00:18:40   everybody else in the human race joins [TS]

00:18:41   him in the sky in the whole world [TS]

00:18:42   changes it's a completely finished 278 [TS]

00:18:45   page graphic novel will have you hooked [TS]

00:18:46   from beginning to end [TS]

00:18:49   here's the important information they've [TS]

00:18:52   this month month of may 2015 to search [TS]

00:18:55   for bizarre new world that [TS]

00:18:59   they get it successfully funded you'll [TS]

00:19:00   be able to get a digitally or in [TS]

00:19:02   paperback visit bizarre new world if you [TS]

00:19:04   don't know how to spell bizarre that's [TS]

00:19:06   be Izar re new world.com for more [TS]

00:19:09   information and thank you too bizarre [TS]

00:19:11   new world for sponsoring this very [TS]

00:19:13   special episode of the uncomfortable [TS]

00:19:16   all right now normally i read that and [TS]

00:19:19   then people just keep talking but now [TS]

00:19:20   we've had a pause so I have to I have to [TS]

00:19:22   throw something else out there did [TS]

00:19:23   people have more of a topic i judge john [TS]

00:19:26   siracusa please give us your topic [TS]

00:19:27   that's what i meant to say all line [TS]

00:19:28   Johnson says there's a lot of this is a [TS]

00:19:30   big movie a lot of stuff and a lot of [TS]

00:19:31   the movie talk about mechanically and [TS]

00:19:33   one part i was interested in is how they [TS]

00:19:36   do the action scene out how they shoot [TS]

00:19:38   them and I've been watching a lot of [TS]

00:19:42   YouTube videos from people about doing [TS]

00:19:44   actions different ways and what do you [TS]

00:19:45   guys think of the actions you how [TS]

00:19:47   personal how would you categorize these [TS]

00:19:48   and in the continuum of like old style [TS]

00:19:51   movie vs modern shaky-cam versus a [TS]

00:19:54   million cuts horrible i thought the [TS]

00:19:57   action scenes were mostly terrible [TS]

00:19:59   there's no sense for me there was no [TS]

00:20:01   sense of rhythm or flow there's no sense [TS]

00:20:03   of geography [TS]

00:20:04   there was no sense of purpose to the [TS]

00:20:06   scenes was basically explosion sexual [TS]

00:20:09   aspect explosion of special-effects so [TS]

00:20:11   many times my neurological reaction was [TS]

00:20:14   to basically put both my hands up just [TS]

00:20:16   like Huh What [TS]

00:20:17   okay so who's shooting what women had a [TS]

00:20:19   black widow get there but I just I was [TS]

00:20:21   just so lost by a lot of the special a [TS]

00:20:24   lot of the action see I don't think [TS]

00:20:25   they're well we'll handle it all [TS]

00:20:26   I I don't think in some ways I don't [TS]

00:20:28   think they were quite as good as the [TS]

00:20:29   first movie in terms of the way that [TS]

00:20:30   they were shot and like the mechanics of [TS]

00:20:32   them some of them are quite spectacular [TS]

00:20:33   and I i did not have nearly as negative [TS]

00:20:36   impression of things and you did but i [TS]

00:20:37   do think that at sometimes it was hard [TS]

00:20:40   to follow some of the action because it [TS]

00:20:42   felt like there are a lot of cuts there [TS]

00:20:43   was i I give you heard there was the [TS]

00:20:45   geography and sometimes did feel a [TS]

00:20:46   little bit lacking from that right from [TS]

00:20:48   that opening fight all the way through [TS]

00:20:50   the last one last one is is obviously [TS]

00:20:52   weird because you'd like a gigantic [TS]

00:20:54   set-piece right that's like all right [TS]

00:20:55   last time we did in New York City now [TS]

00:20:57   we're doing like this gigantic like [TS]

00:20:58   floating Rock you know so i felt that [TS]

00:21:02   got geography was a lot clearer in the [TS]

00:21:04   floating Rock I felt like yeah it's that [TS]

00:21:06   was down a little and there were some [TS]

00:21:07   very clear provocative action happening [TS]

00:21:09   out that I didn't feel earlier in the [TS]

00:21:10   film where with the problem is you know [TS]

00:21:13   Ultron is and we can maybe talk about [TS]

00:21:15   Ultron a little bit [TS]

00:21:16   Ultron is a collection of robots and [TS]

00:21:20   collective noun and obvious obviously [TS]

00:21:22   has some of his earlier perhaps robots [TS]

00:21:25   were not very good because they can like [TS]

00:21:27   shoot them a couple of times and they [TS]

00:21:29   die they're like zombies or [TS]

00:21:30   stormtroopers exactly think they're [TS]

00:21:32   based on stormtrooper technology because [TS]

00:21:34   so do you have like a Hawkeye punching [TS]

00:21:36   an Ultron robot in the face and oh my [TS]

00:21:37   god destroyed a bunch of the face by hum [TS]

00:21:40   yeah yeah so my kind Barton punches you [TS]

00:21:43   in the face you're going down my friend [TS]

00:21:44   but I felt like I felt like we haven't [TS]

00:21:47   earned the title of Ultron man if I had [TS]

00:21:50   destroyed the planet five times over [TS]

00:21:51   because we want realities you Andy yeah [TS]

00:21:53   so it's over so far anyway I did feel [TS]

00:21:57   like being on the floating rock was a [TS]

00:21:58   little bit clearer [TS]

00:21:59   yeah i mean it was unclear although it [TS]

00:22:01   did take me about five to ten minutes [TS]

00:22:03   into that fight to realize that they [TS]

00:22:04   were all on the floating rock and some [TS]

00:22:06   of them were on the city below which is [TS]

00:22:08   what I initially thought it happened [TS]

00:22:09   because there was a hole i can remember [TS]

00:22:11   if it was Captain America or someone was [TS]

00:22:13   like alright those of you on the ground [TS]

00:22:14   do that [TS]

00:22:15   yes and I I think eventually it was oh [TS]

00:22:18   yeah because I was little I there too [TS]

00:22:20   because there was a hardware they were [TS]

00:22:21   evacuating the city but then there seem [TS]

00:22:24   to still be tons of people in the center [TS]

00:22:26   of the city right is already over the [TS]

00:22:27   religious center [TS]

00:22:28   didn't you have a scene where you want [TS]

00:22:30   to alleviate here from there and you [TS]

00:22:32   literally take part of the ground and [TS]

00:22:33   rip it out you would think that would be [TS]

00:22:34   the easiest way and yet haven't seen [TS]

00:22:36   this movie twice i can tell you it's [TS]

00:22:37   confusing [TS]

00:22:38   who's on what side of the thing and who [TS]

00:22:40   like I don't know how they managed to [TS]

00:22:41   blow that because that's the easy one [TS]

00:22:42   also by the way when you have a health [TS]

00:22:43   carrier and you're trying to evacuate a [TS]

00:22:46   a floating Rock what you do is you move [TS]

00:22:48   the helicarriers of close-up are looking [TS]

00:22:51   like landscape you move it like the [TS]

00:22:53   landing strip right up and butt up and [TS]

00:22:54   then you have the superfast guy just [TS]

00:22:56   move everybody right on like on a little [TS]

00:22:58   loading dock you don't send really tired [TS]

00:23:01   now you don't send really delicate [TS]

00:23:02   little like hover parties back and forth [TS]

00:23:04   no no you don't have pictures page of [TS]

00:23:07   logistics since we're talking about this [TS]

00:23:09   thing though and we brought up before [TS]

00:23:11   about how much of it seemed to be like a [TS]

00:23:13   middle finger towards towards the [TS]

00:23:15   superman movie I kind of dislike I kind [TS]

00:23:19   of just like their approach for opposite [TS]

00:23:21   reasons that where Superman is we're [TS]

00:23:23   gonna tear down this entire building and [TS]

00:23:25   we're not gonna care like what was [TS]

00:23:26   inside it and there's there is an actual [TS]

00:23:28   shot scene in which oh my God look at [TS]

00:23:31   that 10-story building to scan for [TS]

00:23:32   life-forms there's only three people in [TS]

00:23:34   there and they're all home together [TS]

00:23:35   fully consider them and we're not going [TS]

00:23:37   we're not going to let this floating [TS]

00:23:38   city destroyed until we get every last [TS]

00:23:40   person of these thousand people only but [TS]

00:23:42   there's one kid we need to get we missed [TS]

00:23:44   one kid [TS]

00:23:45   yes so you know IIF it's very [TS]

00:23:48   unrealistic but I actually we watching [TS]

00:23:52   this movie and i have seen those Exner [TS]

00:23:53   film but are not the next is home but [TS]

00:23:55   the the previous Superman I don't [TS]

00:23:58   necessarily think it's so much a nephew [TS]

00:24:00   to Superman as I think all of the [TS]

00:24:02   Avengers have PTSD from what happened to [TS]

00:24:04   New York but there that's that's where [TS]

00:24:07   that's what i was getting the major vibe [TS]

00:24:08   from that especially start especially [TS]

00:24:10   well yeah well yes Tony Stark has quite [TS]

00:24:12   a visual PS PTSD which we see both in [TS]

00:24:16   this movie in another movies but I I [TS]

00:24:18   really feel like the impetus to like no [TS]

00:24:21   one dies today you know the Doctor Who [TS]

00:24:24   style vibe is very much [TS]

00:24:26   because they're all very aware of how [TS]

00:24:29   the world sees them post new york i have [TS]

00:24:32   to say um and this is a one of the [TS]

00:24:35   reasons i like a movie like Cloverfield [TS]

00:24:37   is that I felt like it was the it was [TS]

00:24:38   the first really look like a post-911 [TS]

00:24:40   Godzilla movie and was like what happens [TS]

00:24:43   when you blow up buildings we know now [TS]

00:24:45   and it's not all fun [TS]

00:24:47   I i feel like the 10-story construction [TS]

00:24:50   site for the that they that they plowed [TS]

00:24:52   into with Ultron I thought that was a [TS]

00:24:55   little too close to home that was [TS]

00:24:56   basically a 911 everything doesn't cloud [TS]

00:24:59   and everything see that in the movie [TS]

00:25:01   though here's the delicious was on the [TS]

00:25:02   nose like exactly 11 but like you said [TS]

00:25:05   we do we know how that what that looks [TS]

00:25:07   like now so if the script says that they [TS]

00:25:09   collapsed building the people who make [TS]

00:25:11   moving on [TS]

00:25:12   alright well let me know when others [TS]

00:25:13   that we know what class building looks [TS]

00:25:14   like it's not like 911 it's like a [TS]

00:25:16   collapsed building but the problem is [TS]

00:25:17   your only even need the big pile of dust [TS]

00:25:20   you could have made it like the rubble [TS]

00:25:21   when they could have been a little [TS]

00:25:22   different instead it was minding the [TS]

00:25:24   imagery of exactly what it is maybe it [TS]

00:25:26   feels it feels emotionally manipulative [TS]

00:25:28   yeah the way they did that to the point [TS]

00:25:30   about the no casualties thing i think [TS]

00:25:31   particularly we also see and this is a [TS]

00:25:33   running theme i think a lot of this is [TS]

00:25:35   that captain america is solidified his [TS]

00:25:37   position as the actual leader of the [TS]

00:25:39   team and that's very much a captain [TS]

00:25:41   america thing right like he's the palate [TS]

00:25:42   and he is the waffle good guy was going [TS]

00:25:44   to save everybody and I think that's a [TS]

00:25:47   big part of why they're so dead it you [TS]

00:25:49   know determined to get all those people [TS]

00:25:51   often say captain said this is what [TS]

00:25:52   we're going to do we do this thing and [TS]

00:25:53   I'm the boss [TS]

00:25:54   that's a Hollywood movie thing to the [TS]

00:25:56   shore but it looks like it works because [TS]

00:25:57   Captain America is like is like a [TS]

00:25:59   trouble when all the Super's I'm like a [TS]

00:26:00   Western interior even going to actually [TS]

00:26:02   like the original superman is like look [TS]

00:26:04   you can't realistically speaking you [TS]

00:26:06   can't show them saying everybody and [TS]

00:26:07   realistically you can't save everybody [TS]

00:26:09   but very frequently especially the old [TS]

00:26:10   Superman movies our prototype for like [TS]

00:26:11   superhero movies that are not terrible [TS]

00:26:14   they would show him saving a slopes [TS]

00:26:16   subset of people in the same way that [TS]

00:26:18   movie compresses down real-time into [TS]

00:26:20   like this connects sequence they [TS]

00:26:21   condense the idea of saving everybody [TS]

00:26:23   down to saving one or two and you can [TS]

00:26:25   quibble about a special have a whole [TS]

00:26:26   city is like book you save three people [TS]

00:26:28   on that elevator [TS]

00:26:29   how many people died when you crash into [TS]

00:26:31   the building even see all that racket is [TS]

00:26:33   like that's why I feel like it so much [TS]

00:26:34   of it is [TS]

00:26:35   the message was directed at zack snyder [TS]

00:26:37   or the audience and his hands fisted and [TS]

00:26:39   it's silly but like that's the message [TS]

00:26:40   of trying to send it construct this [TS]

00:26:41   movie to say it's super important to try [TS]

00:26:44   to not kill innocent civilians when [TS]

00:26:46   you're running around super hyper every [TS]

00:26:48   gold and we're gonna do it in a [TS]

00:26:49   ham-fisted way but that's also remembers [TS]

00:26:51   about only whatever doing with saving [TS]

00:26:52   cats out of trees and in cash and women [TS]

00:26:54   and doing stuff I I don't have felt it [TS]

00:26:56   was a little bit of a disconnect with [TS]

00:26:57   the first scene when the resulting the [TS]

00:26:59   hydro bunker and like that I yeah well [TS]

00:27:02   apparently they don't count they work [TS]

00:27:03   for hydro even though probably a lot of [TS]

00:27:05   them probably just recruited from that [TS]

00:27:06   town is there blowing stuff up and [TS]

00:27:08   throwing motorcycles at things and [TS]

00:27:10   bunkers are exploding and Captain [TS]

00:27:11   America shooting pulse beams at [TS]

00:27:13   everybody and like a lot of people got [TS]

00:27:15   hurt like yeah captain america's like we [TS]

00:27:17   don't kill people it's like I saw you [TS]

00:27:18   mean like you and people were never [TS]

00:27:20   gonna walk again because you're a metal [TS]

00:27:21   sealed at them when I guess they're bad [TS]

00:27:23   good people but in it that's tricky [TS]

00:27:25   because it's like I mean those guys were [TS]

00:27:26   sealed until like a couple months the [TS]

00:27:28   couple and you you wait in the same [TS]

00:27:30   cafeteria thing is how you do you know [TS]

00:27:33   and and and the interesting thing about [TS]

00:27:35   that those opening scenes which you have [TS]

00:27:37   a show shots in which you know the irony [TS]

00:27:40   the iron force drop sponsored research [TS]

00:27:42   engineer please move along we will be [TS]

00:27:43   proud to and the citizens like you're [TS]

00:27:45   idiots and play centers that there's [TS]

00:27:47   graffiti with like pictures of graffiti [TS]

00:27:50   essential guard of iron man with dollar [TS]

00:27:52   signs mark over his head and part of it [TS]

00:27:54   part of me was wondering i hope they go [TS]

00:27:56   into something where again I'm the [TS]

00:27:58   outsider here i have not seen most of [TS]

00:28:00   the other movies or the TV shows but [TS]

00:28:02   like isn't that interesting that there's [TS]

00:28:04   it's sort of like when after world war [TS]

00:28:06   two when both the Russians in the united [TS]

00:28:08   states were trying to round up Nazi [TS]

00:28:09   scientists 24 therefore rocket programs [TS]

00:28:11   it's like why are we supposed to assume [TS]

00:28:14   that Baron Strucker of a character that [TS]

00:28:16   I don't know from this movie is not a [TS]

00:28:19   better caretaker of this mystical object [TS]

00:28:21   why we're assuming that the Avengers [TS]

00:28:22   should be having it's because he's got a [TS]

00:28:24   monocle on it you know Monica ok [TS]

00:28:27   14 p park ourselves model so you don't [TS]

00:28:29   remember the first thing we're there [TS]

00:28:31   assaulting the base just felt it felt [TS]

00:28:33   like very like GI joe like we want tons [TS]

00:28:35   of explosions and laser blasts whatever [TS]

00:28:37   but everybody is okay and like and even [TS]

00:28:40   there's something about that Jeep it's [TS]

00:28:41   like they're gonna sell that cheap [TS]

00:28:42   that's gonna fit perfectly with the [TS]

00:28:43   action was well it feels a lot like the [TS]

00:28:46   first captain america movie at times to [TS]

00:28:49   where it's like oh yeah we're storming [TS]

00:28:50   the not only knocks Nazis are bad yeah [TS]

00:28:52   exactly [TS]

00:28:53   we don't care about the Nazis but no [TS]

00:28:54   Andy to your point I actually when they [TS]

00:28:56   when they go into that the Avengers go [TS]

00:28:58   home and then we get a little bit in [TS]

00:29:00   terms of scarlet witch and her brother [TS]

00:29:02   with the oh yeah [TS]

00:29:05   stark bomb came in and you know killed [TS]

00:29:07   our parents and nearly killed us like [TS]

00:29:09   that's the thing that I wish i'm sure [TS]

00:29:12   they shot it i'm sure it exists in the [TS]

00:29:14   latter part of the movie but like they [TS]

00:29:17   already they have their pivotal switch [TS]

00:29:19   when basically she discovers what [TS]

00:29:21   Ultron's plenty to do and that's awesome [TS]

00:29:24   but what I really would have liked to [TS]

00:29:25   see is the dynamic between her basically [TS]

00:29:28   facing the the man that she has blamed [TS]

00:29:31   for killing her parents and kill you [TS]

00:29:32   know destroying her way of life for for [TS]

00:29:34   20 years and that would be interesting [TS]

00:29:37   to me that that's where we get back to [TS]

00:29:38   main complaint of focus that they can [TS]

00:29:40   that's such an interesting thing to [TS]

00:29:42   explore throughout the movie but we're [TS]

00:29:43   going to mention it but we're moving on [TS]

00:29:45   yeah well I think it's clear that he you [TS]

00:29:47   know I appreciate the joss whedon put [TS]

00:29:49   that in there right and and I think that [TS]

00:29:51   because i think that that is a good [TS]

00:29:52   element and i suspect that it was paid [TS]

00:29:56   on and there's no runs no errors no [TS]

00:29:58   reason you've got a little shorthand for [TS]

00:30:00   a lot of things rather than a few more [TS]

00:30:02   fewer things more with more data [TS]

00:30:04   everybody's arc has one of these things [TS]

00:30:05   attached to it Tony Stark's are because [TS]

00:30:07   attached to his passes an arms dealer [TS]

00:30:09   and Thor's r is as much as it is [TS]

00:30:11   attached to his life together creating a [TS]

00:30:12   ruler and everything and to go and [TS]

00:30:14   pooling why don't have enough read and [TS]

00:30:16   you don't move into those lines means [TS]

00:30:18   you have that one line from Ultron about [TS]

00:30:20   Captain America where it's like the guy [TS]

00:30:22   who always needs a war to fight and like [TS]

00:30:23   to tony's point about identity that was [TS]

00:30:25   his arcane yeah they're like what we [TS]

00:30:27   already saw that in the first like the [TS]

00:30:28   winter soldier is basically the better [TS]

00:30:30   version of that flushed out it's like I [TS]

00:30:32   just remind you where we were [TS]

00:30:33   we're so this guy's very complacent they [TS]

00:30:35   could do an entire movie with a kind of [TS]

00:30:37   sort of did I didn't see three but they [TS]

00:30:39   wanted to talking about Tony Stark his [TS]

00:30:41   guilt is an arms dealer and the [TS]

00:30:42   repercussions of like but it's just it's [TS]

00:30:43   too much to fit in this movie and [TS]

00:30:45   speaking of the GI Joe assault and in [TS]

00:30:46   the opening set piece that's it wrapped [TS]

00:30:48   around back to the how I felt like the [TS]

00:30:50   action scenes were in this one I'm of [TS]

00:30:54   two minds and one I totally agree that [TS]

00:30:56   there they did not do a great job of [TS]

00:30:58   keeping track of everything it's [TS]

00:30:59   difficult to whatever but what I really [TS]

00:31:00   like with the scenes believe in our they [TS]

00:31:02   went all watchman and tried to do a [TS]

00:31:03   comic book panel like every once in a [TS]

00:31:05   while they try to accomplish by stop the [TS]

00:31:07   style is where everybody syncs up and [TS]

00:31:08   it's a slow motion or everybody's in a [TS]

00:31:10   moment and every time I did it I was [TS]

00:31:12   like you know what comes up like I mean [TS]

00:31:14   watchman may have to overcome over [TS]

00:31:15   whenever music swells in your life [TS]

00:31:17   superheroes or superhero team of [TS]

00:31:19   superheroes doing things together I [TS]

00:31:20   don't think they overdid it i think was [TS]

00:31:21   five but the rest of the scenes around [TS]

00:31:23   that I felt like that better than [TS]

00:31:24   Avengers 1 in terms of keeping track of [TS]

00:31:26   where things were for the most part a [TS]

00:31:28   couple of fumbles but like so many [TS]

00:31:30   moving parts like it so much easier to [TS]

00:31:31   do fight scenes captain america 2 [TS]

00:31:32   because one guy one bad guy [TS]

00:31:34   cool track even in Avengers where the [TS]

00:31:36   only fight scene that involves all of [TS]

00:31:37   them is the last one right like so [TS]

00:31:38   everything leading up to that point is [TS]

00:31:39   like smaller groups of people like Thor [TS]

00:31:41   and Captain America and Iron Man [TS]

00:31:43   fighting in one scene and you're like [TS]

00:31:45   yeah I was a couple small things seem [TS]

00:31:46   like they tried working as a team that [TS]

00:31:48   combine their powers can do interesting [TS]

00:31:49   things together they did all the things [TS]

00:31:51   that we have to do for for I just don't [TS]

00:31:53   know if a team of super superhero movies [TS]

00:31:55   can work or maybe I don't know if a team [TS]

00:31:56   of superhero movies can be better than [TS]

00:31:58   adventures 2 and singers to was bad but [TS]

00:32:00   I feel like there's a ceiling on ya know [TS]

00:32:02   that that's why we said this for the [TS]

00:32:03   last movie to that I feel like almost [TS]

00:32:05   the praise is given the constraints they [TS]

00:32:10   did a pretty good job at the constraints [TS]

00:32:12   are brutal because it's just it's too [TS]

00:32:13   much stuff too much has to be serviced [TS]

00:32:15   you gotta move the future movies along [TS]

00:32:17   you've got a service the past movies you [TS]

00:32:19   got to give everybody their moment and [TS]

00:32:20   you have to blow things up & what slime [TS]

00:32:22   in this lady doesn't rely he flesh out [TS]

00:32:24   here a hundred and twenty-five percent [TS]

00:32:26   already and you haven't even started uh [TS]

00:32:29   I think that's only true i had i didn't [TS]

00:32:32   like the first out of the first action [TS]

00:32:35   sequence was fine i think the problem is [TS]

00:32:37   they were like ECG right off the bat [TS]

00:32:39   they not great [TS]

00:32:41   the purpose of that scene is to set them [TS]

00:32:44   i mean literally and there are a few [TS]

00:32:46   other things you introduce the [TS]

00:32:47   Scarlet Witch and stuff and and [TS]

00:32:48   Quicksilver it and hydro blah blah blah [TS]

00:32:52   from previous entries they're working as [TS]

00:32:53   a team and they're really good at and [TS]

00:32:55   and your you but here's the thing [TS]

00:32:57   it's it's long it's hard fought that [TS]

00:33:00   it's complicated and and yes we get to [TS]

00:33:03   see the Avengers in business again but [TS]

00:33:04   the point is really to make the [TS]

00:33:06   victorious so that they can go and [TS]

00:33:07   celebrate and have the rug pulled out [TS]

00:33:10   from under them by Ultron that's the [TS]

00:33:12   point of that scene as you have them do [TS]

00:33:13   that first scene so that everybody's [TS]

00:33:15   feeling good and then they get brought [TS]

00:33:17   down to earth and the problem is the [TS]

00:33:19   scene goes on too long for that was like [TS]

00:33:21   I said I wanted movie yeah i wanted i [TS]

00:33:23   wanted like a like a super shiny almost [TS]

00:33:26   like easy Avengers victory where they [TS]

00:33:28   roll in and they're like we're so [TS]

00:33:29   awesome so that they're even hikers [TS]

00:33:31   clink gets injured and I gotta take it [TS]

00:33:33   back [TS]

00:33:33   I almost wanted them to just like [TS]

00:33:34   totally dominate and have structure and [TS]

00:33:37   and the and the two other other you know [TS]

00:33:40   the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver like [TS]

00:33:42   like a runaway then uh and be just [TS]

00:33:45   destroyed by the Avengers like they just [TS]

00:33:48   dominated that would have actually I [TS]

00:33:50   think been better for the movie because [TS]

00:33:51   it would be shorter and it would have [TS]

00:33:53   made them up even higher in their [TS]

00:33:55   estimation of themselves and they would [TS]

00:33:57   have further to fall and instead they [TS]

00:33:59   felt like they had to do another like [TS]

00:34:00   almost like a climax to a different [TS]

00:34:02   movie to start this movie and a movie [TS]

00:34:05   doesn't really start until Ultron [TS]

00:34:06   appears so it was like a wasted 20 [TS]

00:34:08   minutes to and the reason that seems so [TS]

00:34:10   long as we go back to what they were [TS]

00:34:11   doing is the head to reintroduce every [TS]

00:34:13   damn character what their hours are what [TS]

00:34:14   their relationships are to each other [TS]

00:34:15   like half of that scene was like [TS]

00:34:17   remember this person and remember [TS]

00:34:18   however their relationship with this [TS]

00:34:19   person was in this person this is their [TS]

00:34:21   power and you know you say it's two [TS]

00:34:23   constraints the movie against Jason is [TS]

00:34:25   pointing out like packing the [TS]

00:34:26   seven-person team into a movie is really [TS]

00:34:27   hard when you can't count on the fact [TS]

00:34:29   that ok you know all these guys from the [TS]

00:34:31   last one but i really did that like [TS]

00:34:32   imagine so this movie had so many moving [TS]

00:34:34   parts and they lean so heavily on the [TS]

00:34:36   fact that you know these people are just [TS]

00:34:37   reminding you usein Avengers one right [TS]

00:34:39   guys like they didn't have to spend the [TS]

00:34:41   time to remind you to tell you whose [TS]

00:34:42   characters are there's no origin stories [TS]

00:34:44   for anybody it's like just just sort of [TS]

00:34:46   previously on Avengers that previously [TS]

00:34:47   on Avengers takes 20 minutes now [TS]

00:34:49   yeah you know and previously on Avengers [TS]

00:34:50   and agents of shield and Captain America [TS]

00:34:52   like just reminding you how all these [TS]

00:34:53   bees like and if you caught up on agents [TS]

00:34:55   of shield they even have a times with [TS]

00:34:57   that it's like manly started a protocol [TS]

00:35:00   yeah [TS]

00:35:00   unite it actually that's that's one [TS]

00:35:02   thing side note for people who are [TS]

00:35:04   watching agents of shield that is [TS]

00:35:05   something where I'm kind of like at the [TS]

00:35:07   end of this movie what what what does [TS]

00:35:09   this leave for the television show [TS]

00:35:10   Avengers Academy I don't know but yeah I [TS]

00:35:14   i really wish they had done a shorter [TS]

00:35:17   fight sequence I feel like a lot of that [TS]

00:35:19   was superfluous especially because you [TS]

00:35:21   do get hints of that you get the the [TS]

00:35:23   henchmen being like but they're the [TS]

00:35:25   Avengers boss what do you want to do and [TS]

00:35:28   I'm good [TS]

00:35:29   never surrender I'm going to surrender [TS]

00:35:30   yeah I'll surrender you know that they [TS]

00:35:34   put it where I keep thinking about times [TS]

00:35:38   we're evaluating software and hardware [TS]

00:35:39   and you can see a lot of good ideas in [TS]

00:35:42   there but they're just too many ideas [TS]

00:35:43   crammed in there and a lot of complaints [TS]

00:35:45   that I'm making a couple other people [TS]

00:35:47   see me making is that we don't we don't [TS]

00:35:50   need this many fight scenes we don't [TS]

00:35:51   need these many details and but the [TS]

00:35:53   thing is these are choices that the [TS]

00:35:55   filmmaker chose to make maybe with [TS]

00:35:56   pressures from outside about here the [TS]

00:35:58   commercial things we have to do to make [TS]

00:36:00   this work with a larger universe but it [TS]

00:36:02   really is i if you I think you can make [TS]

00:36:04   a really good superhero team movie work [TS]

00:36:05   but you have to decide that you've got [TS]

00:36:07   seven moving pieces on the field that [TS]

00:36:09   means that if we get with we have 100 [TS]

00:36:12   units of the audience's attention at the [TS]

00:36:15   start of the movie we have to spend [TS]

00:36:16   those why so we're gonna give we're not [TS]

00:36:18   going to have aliens are trying to take [TS]

00:36:20   over the entire world we're gonna say [TS]

00:36:22   there is actually a subtle plot at hand [TS]

00:36:24   that we have to figure out that's not [TS]

00:36:25   going to be terribly complicated for us [TS]

00:36:27   to figure out but it's a big planet and [TS]

00:36:30   we can figure out which three people are [TS]

00:36:31   actually involved in this and that gives [TS]

00:36:33   you the ability to have two people off [TS]

00:36:35   on 11 mission doing one thing three [TS]

00:36:37   people often another mission one person [TS]

00:36:39   thing behind to take care of other [TS]

00:36:41   things it really is just seems like [TS]

00:36:42   they're overloading the seven [TS]

00:36:44   yeah I'm surprised we haven't talked [TS]

00:36:45   more about Ultron because I feel like he [TS]

00:36:48   gets kind of crowded out and it's like [TS]

00:36:49   his name's in a little bit in the [TS]

00:36:51   settlement I was gonna guess you can say [TS]

00:36:53   since I was talking about the arson [TS]

00:36:54   Iran's kind of anticipating being really [TS]

00:36:56   excited about Ultron but and you know [TS]

00:36:59   there are some parts of him that are [TS]

00:37:00   amusing but he does kind of feel like [TS]

00:37:01   it's kind of crowded out and I felt like [TS]

00:37:03   there are a lot of times where I did not [TS]

00:37:04   really understand why he was doing what [TS]

00:37:07   he was doing his bow he was doing it I [TS]

00:37:09   didn't I even when they then use the you [TS]

00:37:12   know [TS]

00:37:13   the gym to help with vision I was then [TS]

00:37:14   confused where Ultron came from [TS]

00:37:17   um because I thought enable the center [TS]

00:37:19   he has a hand wavy origin anyway yeah [TS]

00:37:21   it's not this device inside is a [TS]

00:37:24   malevolent robot guy was right as well [TS]

00:37:26   yeah I mean I got that he is an evil [TS]

00:37:28   robot guy he wants everyone dead right [TS]

00:37:30   Robin and I think but not we're gonna [TS]

00:37:32   have this really nice but you know what [TS]

00:37:33   i like about the voice acting on him was [TS]

00:37:35   exciting [TS]

00:37:36   I thought he was gonna be this [TS]

00:37:37   charismatic villain that was gonna be [TS]

00:37:39   really interesting but really he's just [TS]

00:37:40   an evil robot at with many other evil [TS]

00:37:42   robot standing behind him for when he [TS]

00:37:44   gets knocked his plan was good I liked [TS]

00:37:46   this point this plan this wedding was [TS]

00:37:48   awesome as winners good right here state [TS]

00:37:49   to a meteor unix is obvious option they [TS]

00:37:51   handle that by saying he wants the nukes [TS]

00:37:53   that was his plan he couldn't get to it [TS]

00:37:54   right second plan pretty good plan if [TS]

00:37:57   you want to worry about humans in the [TS]

00:37:58   grand scheme of things it's better than [TS]

00:38:00   like you know everyone's faucets are [TS]

00:38:01   going to shoot fire my frakking United [TS]

00:38:05   would not watch it a very politically [TS]

00:38:07   Avengers 3 that's about the dangers of [TS]

00:38:09   fracking so they're building to that [TS]

00:38:11   with Skye's power is going to be yeah [TS]

00:38:14   oh god I know you know it actually [TS]

00:38:17   bringing up all trans brings up my few [TS]

00:38:19   potholes with this film which is [TS]

00:38:21   basically like I don't understand like [TS]

00:38:23   as much as I love tony stark in iron man [TS]

00:38:25   i don't understand how iron man operates [TS]

00:38:27   one cent Ultron comes online or Veronica [TS]

00:38:29   or any of that like Ultron de I you know [TS]

00:38:33   conceivably goes into the internet and [TS]

00:38:35   then controls all things from their own [TS]

00:38:37   element but that hasn't he's having the [TS]

00:38:39   planet but then Tony's like Jarvis's [TS]

00:38:41   m.i.a but Tony Stark can still you know [TS]

00:38:43   use all of his things and maybe I mean [TS]

00:38:45   we we find out later that Jarvis has [TS]

00:38:47   basically been disseminated but kind of [TS]

00:38:49   in stealth mode and still like tweaking [TS]

00:38:51   things under the hood [TS]

00:38:52   maybe Jarvis was subconsciously doing [TS]

00:38:55   all of these things but still like [TS]

00:38:57   there's that and then Tony Stark uploads [TS]

00:38:59   a new a new AI and his new AI can't be [TS]

00:39:03   corrupted apparently but you yet [TS]

00:39:05   uploaded a new AI until we've got them [TS]

00:39:07   like there's a there's some hand-waving [TS]

00:39:09   going on there in terms of technology [TS]

00:39:11   which is odd because i found the lake [TS]

00:39:13   they do such a good job of acknowledging [TS]

00:39:15   other potential plot holes where it's [TS]

00:39:18   like the link and the nitrogen they're [TS]

00:39:19   like let's bring up exactly why this [TS]

00:39:21   wouldn't work at that the plot holes [TS]

00:39:23   that they don't acknowledge or just feel [TS]

00:39:25   kind of blatant [TS]

00:39:26   refusing to me i think i think this is [TS]

00:39:28   the least explicable fall for me of the [TS]

00:39:31   movie where you have his name is in the [TS]

00:39:34   title you're creating a brand new [TS]

00:39:35   character brand new villain and he's [TS]

00:39:37   gonna be motivating everything that [TS]

00:39:38   happens and at the end of the movie all [TS]

00:39:41   i could think of is that the treehouse [TS]

00:39:43   of horror which there's the evil crusty [TS]

00:39:45   go here we go there's a switch for good [TS]

00:39:46   or evil be switched him to evil he has [TS]

00:39:49   to have better motivation than i'm just [TS]

00:39:51   an evil robot and I have to wipe out all [TS]

00:39:53   of humanity [TS]

00:39:54   why because I'm not even close he needs [TS]

00:39:57   more motivation to my boys when I don't [TS]

00:39:59   like motivation is that it's the [TS]

00:40:00   misplace motivation of and they don't [TS]

00:40:02   say it explicitly having and that's part [TS]

00:40:04   of the problem is the misplaced [TS]

00:40:04   motivation is the only way to get humans [TS]

00:40:06   stop killing each other just kill all [TS]

00:40:07   know that's like that'sthat's like going [TS]

00:40:10   for the tripe of I'm of like this isn't [TS]

00:40:12   this isn't his but this isn't about [TS]

00:40:13   Marvel but uses the the truth about I'm [TS]

00:40:16   a robot but i really want to be a real [TS]

00:40:18   live human okay we've seen that a [TS]

00:40:20   thousand times you have to add depth [TS]

00:40:22   that you have to say okay but why does [TS]

00:40:24   he think that this is the choice [TS]

00:40:25   why is his motivation to solve this [TS]

00:40:27   problem this way why do we not get a [TS]

00:40:29   scene in which he tries to investigate [TS]

00:40:31   mobile [TS]

00:40:32   ok so I'm here time here to basically [TS]

00:40:34   get humans to be better [TS]

00:40:37   boy that felt boy I can't talk to these [TS]

00:40:38   people why look at these transcripts of [TS]

00:40:40   these things like no I've suddenly [TS]

00:40:41   instead decided that we have to kill [TS]

00:40:43   it's almost like it's the shorthand of [TS]

00:40:45   like what we've seen all those movies so [TS]

00:40:46   we know that that would never so like [TS]

00:40:47   this isn't it [TS]

00:40:48   we're still working harder they're not [TS]

00:40:50   it's not easy he does get crowded and [TS]

00:40:52   james spader does a good job and the [TS]

00:40:54   dialogue when he's on 44 Avengers movies [TS]

00:40:57   like can we do something that adds depth [TS]

00:40:59   and character or here's a quip well [TS]

00:41:01   right now because i'm sure more than [TS]

00:41:03   with shorter lips are the quips are good [TS]

00:41:05   the clips are good and actually that's [TS]

00:41:07   what I like Ultron is that Ultron's like [TS]

00:41:09   you know he has any and the Duke lips [TS]

00:41:12   are serving the purpose of saying he's [TS]

00:41:14   way ahead of you right and I'll i enjoy [TS]

00:41:16   i enjoy that icing up landing tastes [TS]

00:41:19   like a lot of robots would be yeah [TS]

00:41:21   isn't robotics plans realize you're not [TS]

00:41:23   a straight and Jarvis has a personality [TS]

00:41:25   and then all of a sudden you know [TS]

00:41:27   Jarvis light is gone into the vision and [TS]

00:41:28   all of this and the vision is like [TS]

00:41:29   humanity is such a strange and you [TS]

00:41:31   Johnny Chan Ultron robot or not gonna go [TS]

00:41:36   with not on the haha yeah but like yeah [TS]

00:41:39   it's on it's on character for an AI to [TS]

00:41:42   make decisions really quickly and only [TS]

00:41:43   have to explain them later and i Ken and [TS]

00:41:45   he's right this is a total trope anyway [TS]

00:41:47   I given any task to like save anything [TS]

00:41:49   having to do with humans always goes [TS]

00:41:51   through this thing make sure the file [TS]

00:41:52   footage from the eighties of missiles [TS]

00:41:54   going off and they go the only way to [TS]

00:41:55   save the humans you are the problem of [TS]

00:41:57   the plan you keep fighting each other [TS]

00:41:58   fighting to get rid of you all the birds [TS]

00:41:59   and the bees would just be all we were [TS]

00:42:01   the monster all-around no other living [TS]

00:42:03   thing on the planet would kill each [TS]

00:42:04   other several all the Predators and [TS]

00:42:05   other prey animals but nevermind it's [TS]

00:42:07   fine you know like but anybody that is a [TS]

00:42:09   truck but he but they don't show you any [TS]

00:42:11   of that and I think it's precisely [TS]

00:42:12   because we've seen so many other times [TS]

00:42:13   student comes into being he's already [TS]

00:42:15   made that this is well and he's already [TS]

00:42:16   out what they do off-screen that I [TS]

00:42:18   actually kind of like is that he says [TS]

00:42:19   yeah I'm kind of past that now it's like [TS]

00:42:22   I'm embracing the fact that i'm going to [TS]

00:42:24   just take over and be evil and I'm gonna [TS]

00:42:26   be I'm gonna be the new life for you my [TS]

00:42:28   love interest ideas you know what he [TS]

00:42:31   might it's true i thought it was a fun [TS]

00:42:32   character but it doesn't necessarily [TS]

00:42:33   make a lot of sense but it was a fun [TS]

00:42:35   character enjoyed Spader I enjoyed the [TS]

00:42:37   quips i enjoyed him being smarter and [TS]

00:42:41   sorted out Tony starking Tony Stark I [TS]

00:42:43   thought that was all really good so [TS]

00:42:45   that's the thing that actually that that [TS]

00:42:47   potentially excited me about Ultron is [TS]

00:42:50   that they went they have this potential [TS]

00:42:51   unexplored path where they hint at [TS]

00:42:54   several times through the movie which is [TS]

00:42:55   basically Ultron is more Tony Stark than [TS]

00:42:58   either Tony Stark or Ultron would like [TS]

00:43:00   to admit [TS]

00:43:01   and it sends him into an absolute rage [TS]

00:43:03   both first and jarvis and second he [TS]

00:43:05   tears that blows that guy's arm off when [TS]

00:43:07   he's like your intensity Tony yeah [TS]

00:43:09   that's a Tony Stark har har [TS]

00:43:11   there's claw that's clock Claus a bad [TS]

00:43:14   guy in Marvel and he's gotta like a [TS]

00:43:16   little ray gun owners arms [TS]

00:43:18   totally as a result of a Menominee [TS]

00:43:20   there's apparently a Marvel thing [TS]

00:43:21   wherein all the facebook movie someone [TS]

00:43:23   loses an arm as an homage to start worse [TS]

00:43:25   like that is apparently kevin can fake [TS]

00:43:27   you really like Star Wars but of course [TS]

00:43:29   no arm but if but no call for any circus [TS]

00:43:32   for acer eraser gets one soon frustrated [TS]

00:43:36   though because again there are there are [TS]

00:43:38   such hints of like this complex awesome [TS]

00:43:40   character and Ultron and I would've [TS]

00:43:42   loved a dichotomy of like Tony Stark you [TS]

00:43:46   built a you built a robot to [TS]

00:43:47   intentionally try and replace yourself [TS]

00:43:49   and here is weak we get that comparison [TS]

00:43:51   later in the movie right it's like both [TS]

00:43:53   of them don't you know say they want [TS]

00:43:55   peace and they have no idea how do you [TS]

00:43:57   know whether pieces to make the world [TS]

00:43:58   you know calm or destroy it and like [TS]

00:44:01   that that would have been really [TS]

00:44:03   interesting and their events in the [TS]

00:44:05   movie yeah but it's not but it and I can [TS]

00:44:08   be made this point earlier which is its [TS]

00:44:10   you full credit for putting the bits [TS]

00:44:12   that are in the movie but also demerit [TS]

00:44:14   for stuffing it so full that you can [TS]

00:44:17   actually get to the weekend we're not [TS]

00:44:18   we're not were not entitled to know the [TS]

00:44:20   process but I mean that's its 02 [TS]

00:44:23   I'm not I I can't fault a movie if I [TS]

00:44:25   think of a better story going on that [TS]

00:44:28   they're not telling but nonetheless [TS]

00:44:29   sometimes that happens and that's I was [TS]

00:44:31   thinking the exact same thing that you [TS]

00:44:32   have Ultron that's doing the exact same [TS]

00:44:34   thing that Tony Stark is doing saying [TS]

00:44:36   what I'm i'm going to reshape the planet [TS]

00:44:38   in a way that's better for everybody i [TS]

00:44:40   don't have to ask anybody how to do it [TS]

00:44:42   because I've got the plan and they don't [TS]

00:44:43   have the plan [TS]

00:44:44   you only get in my way and that would [TS]

00:44:46   put a fascinating movie that would have [TS]

00:44:47   been awkward for formats like what a [TS]

00:44:49   fascinating movie if they'd sort of [TS]

00:44:50   picked up on the fact that the rest of [TS]

00:44:52   the Avengers are like okay why did you [TS]

00:44:54   not tell us you created this planetary [TS]

00:44:56   threat oh come on to the next thing it's [TS]

00:44:58   like again LOL others the last time i [TS]

00:45:00   was there is nothing but you guys really [TS]

00:45:02   fast but again if they can't get [TS]

00:45:03   distracted so that the movie gets [TS]

00:45:05   distracted from every ideas so quickly [TS]

00:45:07   that there's just no time to really [TS]

00:45:09   steep and hey guys and as much as I like [TS]

00:45:12   Ultron I do feel like a lot of times [TS]

00:45:14   when it's like when Ultron was like [TS]

00:45:15   having scenes focused around cameras [TS]

00:45:17   like yes go back to the Avengers they're [TS]

00:45:19   more interesting it's like he couldn't [TS]

00:45:20   you couldn't give him the time that was [TS]

00:45:21   due and as we talked about all the other [TS]

00:45:23   characters his mouth is [TS]

00:45:24   made of metal but his lips been if they [TS]

00:45:26   do leave Matt explain it's made of [TS]

00:45:29   liquid metal shielding so hard at those [TS]

00:45:31   placing now are they saying they're [TS]

00:45:32   segmented place that gives the effect of [TS]

00:45:34   flexibility and then when you're [TS]

00:45:36   distracting at magnuson argument really [TS]

00:45:38   getting on with our four magnets [TS]

00:45:40   powerfully think you're talking about [TS]

00:45:42   Ultron like how awesome he could be [TS]

00:45:43   house you're describing a good sci-fi [TS]

00:45:45   movie there's no room in this movie [TS]

00:45:47   accident like you don't like this just [TS]

00:45:49   like you we want more out of the [TS]

00:45:50   Avengers long as I can we just get rid [TS]

00:45:52   of all this is a pretty sure he jumped [TS]

00:45:54   straight to kill all humans though [TS]

00:45:55   because they could have taken because [TS]

00:45:57   it's called age of Ultron they could [TS]

00:45:58   have taken 20-minute time to show him [TS]

00:46:00   being friendly and helpful and then he [TS]

00:46:02   starts killing people like you should [TS]

00:46:03   not kill people and they actually I'm [TS]

00:46:05   gonna kill more people but it's like [TS]

00:46:06   there's no time to do that so let's just [TS]

00:46:08   move on instead because he just kills [TS]

00:46:09   people right away because we had all [TS]

00:46:11   these we had enough new characters that [TS]

00:46:12   they could have done a movie that was [TS]

00:46:14   just about altron vision and the [TS]

00:46:17   Maximoff twins and that would have been [TS]

00:46:19   a good movie but it's like not we also [TS]

00:46:20   have to have all the end just like if [TS]

00:46:21   you see a pic i had no idea who vision [TS]

00:46:24   was or when they introduced in like [TS]

00:46:26   seriously you're gonna do is a major [TS]

00:46:27   character this point in the my new he [TS]

00:46:29   was going to appear I thought he was [TS]

00:46:30   going to be like in the left leg and [TS]

00:46:32   allows credits yeah something not like [TS]

00:46:34   we're gonna show up midway through and [TS]

00:46:35   he's gonna talk and do stuff and [TS]

00:46:36   absolutely shows like he I mean he just [TS]

00:46:38   kind of like other than introducing a [TS]

00:46:40   new character that I assume we'll play [TS]

00:46:41   and in the future movies he just [TS]

00:46:43   participated in the team and kind of got [TS]

00:46:46   Tony Stark out of destroying the world [TS]

00:46:48   again because like i did actually [TS]

00:46:50   starting to look at I ok i love the [TS]

00:46:51   vision know when I look at this [TS]

00:46:53   treatment division is a pretty cool idea [TS]

00:46:55   but again there's that there's the [TS]

00:46:58   almost climactic point of the movie [TS]

00:47:00   where you know they've they've got the [TS]

00:47:02   cradle and they bring the to cradle to [TS]

00:47:04   tony stark and Tony Stark is getting [TS]

00:47:06   ready to experiment on the brake cradle [TS]

00:47:08   and the twins burst in with Captain [TS]

00:47:11   America being like I you can't do that [TS]

00:47:14   you're good just going to continue your [TS]

00:47:16   cycle of destruction and they just like [TS]

00:47:20   why anyway there's a deus ex machina [TS]

00:47:22   because for peers will do know it's it's [TS]

00:47:26   ridiculous because what what makes you [TS]

00:47:29   think that is that is the message [TS]

00:47:31   oh I created Jarvis all along and jar [TS]

00:47:34   you know Jarvis developed the true AI [TS]

00:47:36   all along and [TS]

00:47:37   didn't need the creepy mind gem and it's [TS]

00:47:39   all it's all handy-dandy or is it like [TS]

00:47:41   20 * stop bullying and things that you [TS]

00:47:44   don't want to know like sorry now we're [TS]

00:47:46   gonna do i have to add the broadcast [TS]

00:47:48   sorry doesn't mean i thought there was [TS]

00:47:50   gonna be when they did introduce him [TS]

00:47:51   like he was going to be the secret huge [TS]

00:47:53   weapon and do something special and then [TS]

00:47:54   he kind of is just another another point [TS]

00:47:57   of view that we have to include in our [TS]

00:47:58   DNA fight scene we're cutting from [TS]

00:48:00   character to character you in turn [TS]

00:48:01   becomes the following ok he of the [TS]

00:48:03   Avengers huh uh we're going to talk more [TS]

00:48:06   about the vision minute but I'm gonna [TS]

00:48:07   take a break for a second to say we are [TS]

00:49:46   damage caused by song from the UH the [TS]

00:49:50   only way to save my mailbox is to [TS]

00:49:52   destroy it so when I when I started [TS]

00:49:54   actually true reading The Avengers in [TS]

00:49:56   the eighties the cool the leaders of the [TS]

00:49:58   team worth vision and the Scarlet Witch [TS]

00:49:59   and so to me that was out that was a [TS]

00:50:02   really fun thing that these are my [TS]

00:50:04   adventures in a way that the the [TS]

00:50:05   eighties Avengers were led by vision and [TS]

00:50:08   I like paul bettany in this I thought it [TS]

00:50:09   was fun but it's sort of like Jarvis is [TS]

00:50:11   now got a guy with a body and and has [TS]

00:50:14   thing and a cape healing is like look I [TS]

00:50:16   wanted to be organized like wanted to be [TS]

00:50:18   a line about the cape because I don't [TS]

00:50:19   look at the more you or are either case [TS]

00:50:21   i wanted to be like nice Cape I'd I [TS]

00:50:23   souls always liked the scene where you [TS]

00:50:25   can pick up the hammer i decided it was [TS]

00:50:26   got a cape coral can pick up a hammer [TS]

00:50:28   everybody can pick up their looks and [TS]

00:50:30   it's funny because as he like he goes he [TS]

00:50:32   flies out he looks at the city he looks [TS]

00:50:33   at his reflection and you have that [TS]

00:50:35   initial sort of oh I'm figuring myself [TS]

00:50:38   out [TS]

00:50:38   he looks authorities like oh well throws [TS]

00:50:40   a protector he has a cape i guess i [TS]

00:50:42   should have a cape now also mines dead [TS]

00:50:45   my gym I feel like if you can if you can [TS]

00:50:47   wield the power of an infinity stone you [TS]

00:50:49   can probably pick up and you were [TS]

00:50:51   indicate yeah well Anna Anna here like [TS]

00:50:53   this before so I i agree it's like like [TS]

00:50:57   with this Batman movies and like [TS]

00:50:59   spider-man three or so many characters [TS]

00:51:00   here and you're like you're adding [TS]

00:51:01   another character but what I like about [TS]

00:51:02   the vision thing oh well is is that a [TS]

00:51:07   the vision we're set up that Ultron is [TS]

00:51:10   going to have his elevation to godhood [TS]

00:51:13   Ultron is going to now become [TS]

00:51:15   all-powerful and he's going to get his [TS]

00:51:18   new library me rhenium synthetic body [TS]

00:51:21   whatever we gotta stop him and I like [TS]

00:51:24   the fact that in the end what happens is [TS]

00:51:26   yes there's the let's be mad scientist [TS]

00:51:28   moment but in the end it gets turned [TS]

00:51:30   against him and you end up creating an a [TS]

00:51:32   synthetic life-form who is the new [TS]

00:51:33   evolution of humanity and and robots [TS]

00:51:36   that is better than Ultron but it's not [TS]

00:51:38   Ultron I think that's kind of a fine [TS]

00:51:40   little bit they have the same power [TS]

00:51:41   balancing from they always happens in [TS]

00:51:42   families who is more powerful all of our [TS]

00:51:45   already you know the whole this guy's [TS]

00:51:47   using completely made of vibranium and [TS]

00:51:48   he should be able to take care about [TS]

00:51:49   going now but Krishna final fight [TS]

00:51:51   sequence that they just they just level [TS]

00:51:53   everything and they're just like yeah [TS]

00:51:54   you can rebalance everything everyone [TS]

00:51:56   punch each other in the face a superhero [TS]

00:51:57   like I mean it's scarlett johansson has [TS]

00:51:59   essentially no powers are always [TS]

00:52:01   punching people in the face with the [TS]

00:52:02   same ferocity the guy whose entire body [TS]

00:52:04   is made of fur brains gonna get any [TS]

00:52:05   German his skull and it's like doesn't [TS]

00:52:07   make any sense like you have to do that [TS]

00:52:08   because they're all the action movie [TS]

00:52:09   yeah it pulls away from that's why in [TS]

00:52:10   the single character movies you can have [TS]

00:52:12   these character power moments that are [TS]

00:52:13   more profound because you're showing a [TS]

00:52:15   single characters power arc and it's [TS]

00:52:17   okay for them to be the most powerful us [TS]

00:52:18   on movies you don't want to do it I was [TS]

00:52:21   kind of uncomfortable time they're [TS]

00:52:22   fighting until I don't like it when [TS]

00:52:23   Captain America's during shielded people [TS]

00:52:25   inside Tony Stark lab I don't like it [TS]

00:52:26   when our man is fighting the Hulk [TS]

00:52:29   because that's just--that's comic [TS]

00:52:30   book-like it's like but wait a second [TS]

00:52:32   who would win and sometimes it's like [TS]

00:52:33   it's you know the answer but they can't [TS]

00:52:35   have you win but why they like their [TS]

00:52:37   they need to as the set in the movie [TS]

00:52:39   several times need to use their words [TS]

00:52:40   like when they disagree with each other [TS]

00:52:42   you don't immediately fling your shield [TS]

00:52:43   somebody fire bullets through the floor [TS]

00:52:45   like seriously got their fighter [TS]

00:52:46   especially not in the house make that [TS]

00:52:48   happen outside [TS]

00:52:49   I really did like I really did like the [TS]

00:52:51   Hulkbuster thing we go against my better [TS]

00:52:53   judgment is finally putting i really [TS]

00:52:55   enjoyed on top of them and he's on top [TS]

00:52:56   of the tree does exactly what you guys [TS]

00:52:58   just slowing down [TS]

00:52:59   yeah it was just me and you can't stop [TS]

00:53:00   my heart what good is it you stop them [TS]

00:53:02   first-time wait a minute gives you time [TS]

00:53:04   to put the whole restaurant and you get [TS]

00:53:06   the little hydraulic punchy thing that [TS]

00:53:08   punches him alot which was really funny [TS]

00:53:10   i probably won't go to sleep go to sleep [TS]

00:53:12   Yeah Yeah come on can we have a word at [TS]

00:53:14   least about some of the quickie writing [TS]

00:53:15   because i know we made fun of all the [TS]

00:53:16   clips but your screen with Mickey every [TS]

00:53:18   seat joss whedon is really good at and [TS]

00:53:21   that's what makes this movie fun i think [TS]

00:53:22   the writing it's funny it's it's [TS]

00:53:25   legitimately funny especially when as [TS]

00:53:27   the strength of this movie this movie [TS]

00:53:28   franchise always been the characters who [TS]

00:53:30   are ridiculously super powerful [TS]

00:53:31   characters are always under cutting [TS]

00:53:32   themselves like yeah the scene with a [TS]

00:53:34   hammer we're hanging out the beginning [TS]

00:53:35   they're all trying to pick up the hammer [TS]

00:53:36   like it's what do the Avengers do when [TS]

00:53:38   they're not Avengers their Park I [TS]

00:53:40   running you know buildings for people [TS]

00:53:41   wouldn't rush about that but I i think [TS]

00:53:43   that's the the thing the great thing [TS]

00:53:45   about this movie is when we see those [TS]

00:53:46   characters as people rather than [TS]

00:53:47   superheroes and just arguing about a lot [TS]

00:53:49   of a kind of stupid things that we argue [TS]

00:53:51   about like you put the hammer in an [TS]

00:53:52   elevator that count yeah i think i think [TS]

00:53:54   it's i think it's really good [TS]

00:53:55   character thing for Tony Stark to keep [TS]

00:53:57   doing that because he's just it's and he [TS]

00:53:59   will undercut himself and it's a really [TS]

00:54:01   serious situation which people are [TS]

00:54:03   terrified for their lives they're [TS]

00:54:05   convinced there's a rampaging engine of [TS]

00:54:08   destruction thats breathes was dropped [TS]

00:54:10   from nowhere but it's okay for Tony [TS]

00:54:12   Stark to be flipping inside the armor [TS]

00:54:13   it's weirder when you have Captain [TS]

00:54:16   America or Natasha or others [TS]

00:54:18   it's like more of a dry sense of humor [TS]

00:54:20   but trying to keep trying to fill a [TS]

00:54:22   moment with here's here's a here's a [TS]

00:54:24   line that just occurred to me here the [TS]

00:54:25   riders from let's just not that scary [TS]

00:54:26   moment I I could not disagree more i [TS]

00:54:28   think the case they are playing not only [TS]

00:54:30   is it funny and it makes it humanizes [TS]

00:54:32   them and it gives you the sense that [TS]

00:54:33   they are a team and they are if they are [TS]

00:54:35   interacting and that they've been on [TS]

00:54:36   adventures that we haven't seen and so [TS]

00:54:38   when Captain America's language please [TS]

00:54:40   and it becomes a running bit it's funny [TS]

00:54:42   because he's from the old times and [TS]

00:54:44   maybe he's like Uncle grandpa who's like [TS]

00:54:46   these kids today and I i think it's [TS]

00:54:48   earned and I think it's funny and I [TS]

00:54:49   think the movie I and this is why I'm [TS]

00:54:52   client like a movie like this and not [TS]

00:54:53   like some of those DC movies that [TS]

00:54:55   they've made because they are so serious [TS]

00:54:56   and I want to punch them because they're [TS]

00:54:58   staking little curious about your [TS]

00:55:00   haircut but you're kind of hitting on [TS]

00:55:02   what I've always thought was my [TS]

00:55:04   difference between the red where react [TS]

00:55:06   with DC movie in a Marvel movie I can't [TS]

00:55:08   think of any time where I legitimately [TS]

00:55:09   laughs during a DC movie I can't think [TS]

00:55:12   of a time where I legitimately felt an [TS]

00:55:14   emotional connection to anything [TS]

00:55:16   happening in a Marvel movie and I don't [TS]

00:55:17   know why I'm sorry see a lot of Mount [TS]

00:55:20   Pleasant emotion I i yes I have seen 1 2 [TS]

00:55:24   3 i've seen for Marvel movies [TS]

00:55:26   ok maybe not all of them but I've seen [TS]

00:55:28   what I've seen I feel very emotional and [TS]

00:55:30   thor 2 because it was I was filled with [TS]

00:55:31   rage I like a bad liar i also have to [TS]

00:55:34   say kudos who they are you know what was [TS]

00:55:36   paraded PG pg-13 or something so they [TS]

00:55:38   get the fleeting after which is the [TS]

00:55:39   first line and Maria sorry detective [TS]

00:55:42   thumbs up on that one that I remember [TS]

00:55:43   the tall that language that's happening [TS]

00:55:45   during the I don't even think I don't [TS]

00:55:47   think to throw away since I think it's [TS]

00:55:49   important to Center us in this action [TS]

00:55:50   but this is the one where there are very [TS]

00:55:51   few consequences were going to be [TS]

00:55:52   attacking this fortress with people who [TS]

00:55:55   have converted with machine guns of God [TS]

00:55:56   for all things early dreams your level [TS]

00:55:59   yeah it's not like when that it's it's [TS]

00:56:01   it would be it would be very very weird [TS]

00:56:03   if while we know that there is a plane [TS]

00:56:06   that's headed [TS]

00:56:06   towards tower two of the World Trade [TS]

00:56:09   Center to say well you know I like I'm [TS]

00:56:12   sorry I'm that's the first flight I've [TS]

00:56:14   always when I wish that we got hope you [TS]

00:56:15   don't be late for it's like you're an [TS]

00:56:17   idiot [TS]

00:56:18   y-you their lives at stake why are you [TS]

00:56:19   talking about a comic book movie though [TS]

00:56:21   that's what I feel like it's like that [TS]

00:56:23   that's that's what we use a little we [TS]

00:56:25   used the phrase comic book movie and a [TS]

00:56:26   derogatory i'm not using just the whole [TS]

00:56:30   time saying that it's outside outside of [TS]

00:56:31   this table when people say comic book [TS]

00:56:33   movie they don't see also there's no [TS]

00:56:34   depth there's no involvement this just a [TS]

00:56:36   comic book movie i'm talking about [TS]

00:56:37   something that's larger than life and [TS]

00:56:39   delightful where it should be you know [TS]

00:56:41   there should be snakes there should be [TS]

00:56:43   consequences but at the same time like [TS]

00:56:45   we want all of the Avengers to get out i [TS]

00:56:48   should already want to have fun we want [TS]

00:56:50   it we want to be entertained and feel [TS]

00:56:52   the highs and the lows Star Wars is very [TS]

00:56:55   quickly and it's why we love it because [TS]

00:56:57   it's just as quickly as it is emotional [TS]

00:56:58   and it if all the characters were super [TS]

00:57:01   serious and let's only say the things [TS]

00:57:03   that are you know boy like was never [TS]

00:57:05   tell me the odds like yeah we're gonna [TS]

00:57:07   say that i would say the star wars as [TS]

00:57:09   much better made than avengers movie I [TS]

00:57:10   won't disagree with that but I'm gonna [TS]

00:57:12   save all the adjectives I would apply to [TS]

00:57:13   the Man of Steel fun it's not anywhere [TS]

00:57:15   near them again it wasn't it was but [TS]

00:57:17   that but there are there were moments [TS]

00:57:19   that I can i I don't I don't think that [TS]

00:57:20   man of steel was a great movie out loud [TS]

00:57:22   I thought was going from that one way to [TS]

00:57:24   start again [TS]

00:57:24   god I thought it was better than the [TS]

00:57:26   first Avengers movie but the problem [TS]

00:57:28   haha [TS]

00:57:30   we hold these truths to be so i thought [TS]

00:57:32   this place was already over but again I [TS]

00:57:34   will I will I will reiterate my reaction [TS]

00:57:37   is incontrovertible i was bored to hell [TS]

00:57:39   so if there's through the first of many [TS]

00:57:41   places dandy I was not bored as hell no [TS]

00:57:43   justice statements according to steal [TS]

00:57:45   Murray that's all I'm saying [TS]

00:57:47   yeah I I think you've got to have that [TS]

00:57:48   one of the things that humanizes these [TS]

00:57:49   characters is that they have [TS]

00:57:51   relationships and they do to do some [TS]

00:57:53   clips and if they took it all that [TS]

00:57:54   seriously it would be like listen boring [TS]

00:57:56   and grim and terrible like man of steel [TS]

00:57:58   which was a piece of junk and I let me [TS]

00:58:00   let me look let me defend any four [TS]

00:58:02   seconds I think I know what he's getting [TS]

00:58:03   at with the Man of Steel thing I i also [TS]

00:58:05   like minutes daily mostly because of how [TS]

00:58:07   a character I Superman not so much like [TS]

00:58:10   in the movie making the early parts of [TS]

00:58:12   Man of Steel like it just had one [TS]

00:58:13   character and i think was a man of steel [TS]

00:58:15   was better moviemaking then the first [TS]

00:58:18   happens man of steel was better very [TS]

00:58:20   good better moviemaking like I don't [TS]

00:58:22   just ignore the plot ignore the fact [TS]

00:58:23   that Superman just like go for like you [TS]

00:58:25   know how it how was it shot how is the [TS]

00:58:26   dialogue is different kind of movie you [TS]

00:58:28   know me like I was more stylized I i [TS]

00:58:32   read today I thought it was more [TS]

00:58:33   interesting visually I thought I like to [TS]

00:58:34   pay something that you know that's never [TS]

00:58:36   do some very interesting visual rails at [TS]

00:58:38   the end but the equipping this thing [TS]

00:58:39   with Joss Whedon right like you go to [TS]

00:58:41   war with Joss Whedon your have this is [TS]

00:58:42   what you got back what can just we [TS]

00:58:45   didn't do well if that you get just [TS]

00:58:46   waiting here we don't land equips like [TS]

00:58:48   why the hell do you even get why you [TS]

00:58:49   like her right and so I cancer community [TS]

00:58:51   without dental in this mode walking in [TS]

00:58:53   this movie I feel like it's not as good [TS]

00:58:55   quips we're good my favorite joke the [TS]

00:58:57   entire movie is the visual jet a gag [TS]

00:58:59   when Captain America and Iron Man [TS]

00:59:00   arguing and they're chopping wood [TS]

00:59:02   encountering her just tears log in half [TS]

00:59:03   because he's frustrated enemies captain [TS]

00:59:05   america and like that's my favorite kind [TS]

00:59:07   of Clips like you don't have to hit on [TS]

00:59:08   the head but like I don't know how well [TS]

00:59:10   integrate those clips are with the rest [TS]

00:59:11   of the movie i get the feeling like you [TS]

00:59:13   know like you're going from going for [TS]

00:59:14   seeing action and clip and then seeing [TS]

00:59:16   action then equip like but look at the [TS]

00:59:18   good quips we're good like they were [TS]

00:59:19   joss whedon right i can quickly qualify [TS]

00:59:23   it wasn't I'm not objecting to the use [TS]

00:59:25   of quips I'm saying that there so many [TS]

00:59:28   times where I heard a quickie thing it [TS]

00:59:30   didn't feel like a character having a [TS]

00:59:31   genuine dialogue it felt like a [TS]

00:59:33   screenwriter saying oh I joke just [TS]

00:59:35   occurred to me i'm going to type in [TS]

00:59:36   right here [TS]

00:59:36   I i get that i don't i don't agree I [TS]

00:59:38   felt I felt like these time we know [TS]

00:59:41   these characters and anger [TS]

00:59:42   Mandy I have to say I've seen all of [TS]

00:59:43   these movies and I feel like I know [TS]

00:59:45   these characters and these were coming [TS]

00:59:46   from places the reason the quips were [TS]

00:59:49   enjoyable to me is that I felt like they [TS]

00:59:51   were from the places i know these people [TS]

00:59:53   and that's exactly what they should say [TS]

00:59:57   given their relationships and given [TS]

00:59:59   their history and [TS]

00:59:59   their history and [TS]

01:00:00   I was pretty amazed because i was on the [TS]

01:00:01   lookout for the quips that are there [TS]

01:00:03   just to add some levity while I'm [TS]

01:00:06   punching somebody's face off that don't [TS]

01:00:09   fly and and I was impressed at the care [TS]

01:00:12   that went into the quips where I felt [TS]

01:00:14   like these characters actually the the [TS]

01:00:17   quicker the right clips for the [TS]

01:00:18   situation and so it so if they totally [TS]

01:00:21   work and I was on the lookout for I was [TS]

01:00:23   on quip watch in fact and i didn't i [TS]

01:00:25   didn't see that much to that all these [TS]

01:00:27   characters and really unique LOL [TS]

01:00:29   characters and all joss whedon things [TS]

01:00:31   that he's ever done [TS]

01:00:32   use humor and quips and dark humor and [TS]

01:00:35   sarcasm as their way of dealing with [TS]

01:00:37   heated situations that are bit like that [TS]

01:00:40   is his thing everything and he basically [TS]

01:00:42   makes the same movie over and I think [TS]

01:00:44   like his card if Bobby people with the [TS]

01:00:46   right age to be that sarcastic and have [TS]

01:00:48   those scripts but he doesn't matter what [TS]

01:00:49   movie you give anybody given like you [TS]

01:00:51   know old Indians in and like 700 he'll [TS]

01:00:55   do the same damn thing that's what he [TS]

01:00:56   knows how to do viagra like but the [TS]

01:00:58   Avengers like with with these clips it [TS]

01:01:01   in story it makes sense that they would [TS]

01:01:03   be doing these things because that is [TS]

01:01:04   the way they deal with with the [TS]

01:01:06   difficulties of the situation they also [TS]

01:01:07   have also chosen dealing with the other [TS]

01:01:09   ways like a tab down-to-earth talks with [TS]

01:01:10   each other about do I feel okay with [TS]

01:01:11   this but in the heat of battle the way [TS]

01:01:14   they sublimate their feelings or express [TS]

01:01:17   themselves or whatever is with the star [TS]

01:01:18   Cameron whether you think that it's the [TS]

01:01:20   superhero character I don't know but [TS]

01:01:22   it's how Australians characters act [TS]

01:01:25   yeah it and I have to underscore that I [TS]

01:01:28   think that their different perspectives [TS]

01:01:29   when you have someone who is not someone [TS]

01:01:32   who was seen this isn't there was not [TS]

01:01:34   committed to the Marvel Cinematic [TS]

01:01:35   Universe i see this as one movie that [TS]

01:01:37   I'd like to go see in May as opposed to [TS]

01:01:40   a continuation of this enjoyable [TS]

01:01:44   investment that I've been making in [TS]

01:01:46   these movies i've been really really [TS]

01:01:47   liking this it's takes us back to the [TS]

01:01:49   fundamental issue with this entire thing [TS]

01:01:51   which is it's not quite a movie as much [TS]

01:01:52   as is honest and installment of this and [TS]

01:01:55   movie series goes wrong with that [TS]

01:01:56   because the clear curly we the the news [TS]

01:01:58   this number the number two opening [TS]

01:02:00   weekend in movie history so it's not as [TS]

01:02:02   though this he's that this movie is not [TS]

01:02:04   finding an audience of people who really [TS]

01:02:05   really enjoyed this movie you know that [TS]

01:02:07   you know they buy the tickets before [TS]

01:02:09   they see the movie i think it's not [TS]

01:02:10   that's Jay [TS]

01:02:11   but I see the Avengers movies as [TS]

01:02:13   Capstone's rather than movies in them [TS]

01:02:15   into themselves like if you look at [TS]

01:02:17   Marvel sort of bills in their faces as [TS]

01:02:19   like a good meal you've got like you've [TS]

01:02:22   got the the various entrees that are the [TS]

01:02:24   single person movies and the Avengers [TS]

01:02:27   movies are the desert RV like [TS]

01:02:29   wholehearted you know what we know these [TS]

01:02:32   characters we know this environment we [TS]

01:02:34   love this environment we have presumably [TS]

01:02:36   bought into it because we have seen all [TS]

01:02:38   the other movies this is kind of a [TS]

01:02:40   two-and-a-half-hour way of being like [TS]

01:02:41   hey wouldn't it be cool if all of our [TS]

01:02:43   favorite superheroes that we've known [TS]

01:02:45   and loved just kind of get together and [TS]

01:02:48   hang out and Jason's touching his nose [TS]

01:02:51   Mike was right anyway keep going yeah [TS]

01:02:52   yeah rub it in [TS]

01:02:54   no I I honestly I for me and avengers [TS]

01:02:58   movie does not have to be pinnacles of [TS]

01:03:00   greatness it has to be fun [TS]

01:03:02   it has to have characters that I know [TS]

01:03:03   and love and it has to be plausible and [TS]

01:03:06   they're definitely like they're [TS]

01:03:07   definitely plot holes in this and I'm [TS]

01:03:09   not gonna stare too closely at them [TS]

01:03:10   because honestly I'd like this [TS]

01:03:12   this was my dessert this was my happy [TS]

01:03:14   time and then we'll see what phase 3 has [TS]

01:03:16   in store for sure it's desert and not [TS]

01:03:19   like the feeling when you're in bed [TS]

01:03:20   after oh I shouldn't be no no it's not [TS]

01:03:22   even that much for the Jews out there [TS]

01:03:24   it's like the offi combing your special [TS]

01:03:25   with the taste linger in your mouth [TS]

01:03:27   yeah and and also my ambition is that i [TS]

01:03:31   would like to have superhero movies that [TS]

01:03:33   are more ambitious that try to be more [TS]

01:03:34   like a conventional movie but that's [TS]

01:03:36   only one way to make that movie it's [TS]

01:03:38   possible to have I was thinking about [TS]

01:03:40   this on the way into the move into the [TS]

01:03:41   theater that maybe one of the reasons [TS]

01:03:43   why I'm not responding to some of these [TS]

01:03:45   Marvel movies is that i am expecting it [TS]

01:03:47   to be like a sit-down dinner when this [TS]

01:03:49   is more like a buffet experience where [TS]

01:03:51   there's going to be elements that your [TS]

01:03:53   that are good elements that you like [TS]

01:03:55   less you're not supposed to see it as a [TS]

01:03:58   really engineered meal so much as a [TS]

01:04:01   positive 2 and a half hour long [TS]

01:04:03   experience that could be I mean I i do [TS]

01:04:05   think that with something like guardians [TS]

01:04:07   of the galaxy we see Marvel trying [TS]

01:04:09   something that is a different kind of [TS]

01:04:10   approach 22 again what commerce makes a [TS]

01:04:13   you know blockbuster tentpole kind of [TS]

01:04:15   movie that that's just how it is [TS]

01:04:17   but within that do some things that are [TS]

01:04:19   different this is this is I agree with [TS]

01:04:20   surrounding part of it is this is the [TS]

01:04:22   capstone this is quite frankly the the [TS]

01:04:24   the issues of a comic where all of the [TS]

01:04:27   characters get together and interact [TS]

01:04:28   those are never the best stories either [TS]

01:04:30   it's fun to watch them interact but the [TS]

01:04:32   story is kind of beside the point and [TS]

01:04:34   it's not and this is like that this is [TS]

01:04:36   it's fun to see them interact in [TS]

01:04:37   something and but it only really works i [TS]

01:04:40   think if they've earned it with you [TS]

01:04:41   having known these characters more like [TS]

01:04:43   I feel like you really need to have seen [TS]

01:04:45   winter soldier and internalized it and [TS]

01:04:47   understood it and taking it into your [TS]

01:04:48   soul for you to watch this movie because [TS]

01:04:50   it really doesn't make a lot of sense [TS]

01:04:53   without knowing where the characters are [TS]

01:04:55   after winter soldier especially if this [TS]

01:04:58   balance between like ensemble cast you [TS]

01:05:00   want to have dramatic moments you want [TS]

01:05:02   them to be quickly you want to have good [TS]

01:05:03   action scenes that's actually fairly [TS]

01:05:04   difficult formula too often trying to [TS]

01:05:07   think of other movies that have done a [TS]

01:05:08   well-made hot Empire Strikes Back is [TS]

01:05:10   comes the obvious example but it's [TS]

01:05:11   paired down there's action scenes this [TS]

01:05:13   personal drama there's quips and they [TS]

01:05:15   balance in the right and guardians of [TS]

01:05:17   the galaxy is like let's go away towards [TS]

01:05:18   the humor side and but even that is [TS]

01:05:20   difficult balance because then we were [TS]

01:05:21   talking about that movie it's like all [TS]

01:05:23   the more seriously and so I can really [TS]

01:05:24   take this bag is seriously in this one I [TS]

01:05:26   could i get some so difficult like where [TS]

01:05:28   do you find the line and that way it's [TS]

01:05:29   almost like not that it's easier but [TS]

01:05:30   like Batman Begins is more like a solid [TS]

01:05:32   yeah you know serious like movie and [TS]

01:05:35   like it has its humor value had to [TS]

01:05:37   strike him or whatever but like it they [TS]

01:05:38   figured out a balance that you look [TS]

01:05:40   Batman Begins and it works all the way [TS]

01:05:41   through its just I the reason think [TS]

01:05:42   we're trying to do the balance where [TS]

01:05:44   you're somewhere in the middle like I [TS]

01:05:45   mean I guess maybe diehards example it's [TS]

01:05:47   very small cast like can you balance [TS]

01:05:49   drama investment in action scenes with [TS]

01:05:53   clips [TS]

01:05:53   it's very super hard and service 7 [TS]

01:05:56   characters and all that is hurting you [TS]

01:05:58   know just keep studying in Parliament [TS]

01:06:00   before we go I i do want to mention day [TS]

01:06:02   do people have any thoughts about um [TS]

01:06:03   Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch because [TS]

01:06:05   they were they were in this movie too [TS]

01:06:07   and we and you know we had to we had to [TS]

01:06:09   find a way to introduce them and and [TS]

01:06:12   have them do some stuff [TS]

01:06:13   Carla which was like her character I [TS]

01:06:15   feel like got got a little bit screwed [TS]

01:06:17   like I mean they they tried to give her [TS]

01:06:19   an art but very very frequently about [TS]

01:06:20   the one that really bothered me the most [TS]

01:06:21   sheet that has the conversation with the [TS]

01:06:23   with Hawkeye and become you know she's [TS]

01:06:26   gonna come out as she comes out she's [TS]

01:06:27   made her decision she's going to be an [TS]

01:06:29   Avenger she's going to be the Scarlet [TS]

01:06:30   Witch she does her badass thing to slow [TS]

01:06:33   motion then then Hawkeye looked over her [TS]

01:06:36   and gives her that [TS]

01:06:37   next scene they have the expressions for [TS]

01:06:39   actresses face is like looking to [TS]

01:06:41   hawkeye for approval and she's a little [TS]

01:06:42   dopey little dog again maybe next time [TS]

01:06:44   you'll see more than two times watching [TS]

01:06:46   like she doesn't know [TS]

01:06:47   did I do good in my right side while [TS]

01:06:49   she's here she's scared out of her mind [TS]

01:06:51   damaged from being experimented on and [TS]

01:06:54   being that's totally appropriate though [TS]

01:06:56   that's totally appropriate for so long [TS]

01:06:58   if you drop me into a combat situation [TS]

01:07:00   that I've never been in i will probably [TS]

01:07:02   invite see that the entire world is [TS]

01:07:04   going completely the hell i know that [TS]

01:07:05   partly responsible for because I helped [TS]

01:07:07   out the early stages of it I might need [TS]

01:07:09   a bit of a pet pop pep talk to and I [TS]

01:07:11   think that they trick with this with [TS]

01:07:12   developing those characters also we got [TS]

01:07:13   them as a unit right and it's like e to [TS]

01:07:15   a certain extent you have to split time [TS]

01:07:17   and no one they're not gonna you can't [TS]

01:07:19   just be like oh they have the exact same [TS]

01:07:20   story they're probably rescue their [TS]

01:07:21   parents were killed like yes we do have [TS]

01:07:23   some story and they each sort of like [TS]

01:07:24   China and on it but it's really hard to [TS]

01:07:26   get full extent of both of them and so I [TS]

01:07:27   think I think Scarlet Witch actually [TS]

01:07:29   gets a better treatment than Quicksilver [TS]

01:07:30   who is like yeah I get to make it is [TS]

01:07:32   about a gruff and speaking Russian [TS]

01:07:33   accent tonight pretty much it my [TS]

01:07:36   complaint about scholar which wasn't [TS]

01:07:37   that she was scared the buildings after [TS]

01:07:39   that after she comes out she supposed to [TS]

01:07:40   have made her decision and like because [TS]

01:07:43   self-actualize and become the power to [TS]

01:07:44   decide what she's gonna do but [TS]

01:07:45   immediately after that she's back like I [TS]

01:07:47   I don't like real to me them that felt [TS]

01:07:49   very much like so did I do good boss [TS]

01:07:51   well no i honestly didn't look like she [TS]

01:07:54   was can I you know am i doing well it [TS]

01:07:56   what if to me that like I noticed that [TS]

01:07:58   expression and it very very much [TS]

01:08:00   registered my brain but it looked as [TS]

01:08:02   like I'm going to do this and I'm going [TS]

01:08:04   to be an Avenger but that doesn't mean [TS]

01:08:06   that I'm not terrified out of my mind [TS]

01:08:08   because I still have major PTSD from 110 [TS]

01:08:11   a shell fell down next to me and almost [TS]

01:08:13   you know yeah I don't know screaming [TS]

01:08:14   with your story but I maybe I'm going on [TS]

01:08:16   Lex may not in like the idea being happy [TS]

01:08:18   is the idea [TS]

01:08:19   the idea that i like but these people [TS]

01:08:22   have this kind of power especially like [TS]

01:08:23   the telekinesis in mind control that [TS]

01:08:25   it's like they don't know how far it [TS]

01:08:27   goes and it usually goes really really [TS]

01:08:29   really far in a scary way and the people [TS]

01:08:31   with this power and inevitably seems [TS]

01:08:33   like they become consumed by it because [TS]

01:08:35   it's kind of that type of power that's [TS]

01:08:36   gonna make you destroy the entire world [TS]

01:08:37   and kill everybody [TS]

01:08:38   well that's kind of what happens to [TS]

01:08:39   scarlet witch's and I see her traveling [TS]

01:08:43   along an argument is movie she's like I [TS]

01:08:45   expected her to travel farther along in [TS]

01:08:46   our basement expected her to sort of [TS]

01:08:48   coming to her powers and realize that [TS]

01:08:50   like you know that she's much more [TS]

01:08:51   powerful than she thinks when she when [TS]

01:08:53   she puts her mind to it right in the [TS]

01:08:54   correct way and that is slowly the power [TS]

01:08:56   sunroof income that's a dozen to learn [TS]

01:08:58   about that later later but again I I [TS]

01:09:00   there was also a long stable period when [TS]

01:09:02   you know vision and the Scarlet Witch [TS]

01:09:03   led the Avengers and it was awesome and [TS]

01:09:05   paris peace in our time and there was [TS]

01:09:07   peace in our time and yeah wasn't that [TS]

01:09:09   the period which the vision went nuts [TS]

01:09:11   and formed the west coast avengers a [TS]

01:09:12   diversionary tactic then took over every [TS]

01:09:15   single container labeled to try to unite [TS]

01:09:16   was later it was much less employees [TS]

01:09:18   have to be about to be licensed you have [TS]

01:09:19   any nuts to start a west coast version [TS]

01:09:21   gonna ask for the great anything that [TS]

01:09:23   puts tiger and a monthly series i'm [TS]

01:09:25   a-free I prove oh yeah and I worth a [TS]

01:09:27   five cents run and then this house event [TS]

01:09:29   well it's also like x-men and that they [TS]

01:09:30   were also mutants but you can't call the [TS]

01:09:32   mutants in this movie because that's a [TS]

01:09:33   totally diff locks his lawyers would [TS]

01:09:35   like it went to Jason produce oh yeah [TS]

01:09:37   there they have been their stats were [TS]

01:09:40   upgraded from 4th edition 2 5th edition [TS]

01:09:41   it's a very good one is like that's the [TS]

01:09:43   that's a different arc then the then the [TS]

01:09:46   other Marvel heroes I feel like that's [TS]

01:09:48   more of an x-men arcade or not like [TS]

01:09:49   x-men has all the x-men are very similar [TS]

01:09:52   and I think that is a good solid team in [TS]

01:09:53   it and but this movies like whores [TS]

01:09:55   archives very little overlap with [TS]

01:09:56   Captain America's are ya [TS]

01:09:58   for Asgard or were curious hear stories [TS]

01:10:00   here to be thor and be funny and make [TS]

01:10:02   quips or going to Thor have the hammer [TS]

01:10:04   and setup future movies and i would say [TS]

01:10:07   he does have an arc his arc is not about [TS]

01:10:09   this movie so much but he doesn't have [TS]

01:10:11   something to doing through they can is [TS]

01:10:13   your theories like on his way to like a [TS]

01:10:15   season finale free agents of shield yes [TS]

01:10:17   tops off in the barn ya just gotta go [TS]

01:10:19   you know but again we gotta it's tough [TS]

01:10:21   to have to give those again it comes [TS]

01:10:23   back it's tough to get all those [TS]

01:10:24   chemicals we do a brief appreciative for [TS]

01:10:26   a lot of the I thought the cameos you [TS]

01:10:28   know i did enjoy a lot of the smaller [TS]

01:10:29   one enjoyed on Cheadle [TS]

01:10:31   and when she was really good are you [TS]

01:10:33   Anthony Mackie is fuckin who I realize [TS]

01:10:34   either both now Avengers or Natalie [TS]

01:10:36   apartment oh wait she could afford her [TS]

01:10:38   but she's better Skarsgard comes back I [TS]

01:10:41   mean like we pretty much dragon-like [TS]

01:10:43   secondary characters from all the [TS]

01:10:44   previous independent movies murray hill [TS]

01:10:46   yeah there's a little bit of enjoyed [TS]

01:10:48   understand they have created a rich [TS]

01:10:49   universe I just feel like it and i told [TS]

01:10:51   you i want to see TV show 26 episodes [TS]

01:10:54   where there is wonders with all these [TS]

01:10:57   actors about it can afford action [TS]

01:10:59   set-pieces like I wonder if that's gonna [TS]

01:11:00   concepts at some point you have to [TS]

01:11:01   wonder if it would be better it would be [TS]

01:11:03   better off to spend money for these [TS]

01:11:05   actors to do an eight-episode netflix [TS]

01:11:08   really don't know that's why tries to be [TS]

01:11:09   able to look at daredevil and saying [TS]

01:11:11   okay if you're gonna make a 13-hour [TS]

01:11:12   movies just same effects like that's the [TS]

01:11:14   thing ya know you're only going to be [TS]

01:11:15   doing a movie why can't you have all [TS]

01:11:17   these people in television show just [TS]

01:11:18   like you know eventually you're going to [TS]

01:11:20   say we can't make any more Avengers [TS]

01:11:21   movies they're ridiculous but if as long [TS]

01:11:24   as people are still breaking box-office [TS]

01:11:25   records to go see them they're not going [TS]

01:11:27   to put them on netflix anytime soon yeah [TS]

01:11:29   i mean i think more likely we might get [TS]

01:11:31   at you [TS]

01:11:32   we might sooner get a return to flash [TS]

01:11:33   Gordon's cereals then we would then [TS]

01:11:35   would actual but that then actually [TS]

01:11:38   intrigues me if you use a lot of a lot [TS]

01:11:40   of movies get made because not because [TS]

01:11:42   they offered an actor a lot of money but [TS]

01:11:44   but somebody said this will only take [TS]

01:11:45   two and a half weeks of your time and [TS]

01:11:47   you're not doing anything and we can [TS]

01:11:49   give you five or six million dollars for [TS]

01:11:50   one month so one month of your time and [TS]

01:11:53   if we did this if you did this and [TS]

01:11:55   netflix budget where you do not have the [TS]

01:11:57   option of having 90 minutes of just [TS]

01:11:59   action action action where could to save [TS]

01:12:01   money in a way you have to have people [TS]

01:12:03   sitting down and talking and sort of [TS]

01:12:05   hashing out a plot that might be [TS]

01:12:07   something that would intrigue me more [TS]

01:12:08   than Avengers 3 [TS]

01:12:09   I think the downside is that a lot of [TS]

01:12:10   the stuff that we see on TV these days [TS]

01:12:12   also been like years towards the greedy [TS]

01:12:15   so it's like oh yeah HBO does it doesn't [TS]

01:12:17   understand how guys want to see the HP [TS]

01:12:18   understand she's not ready right well [TS]

01:12:20   that's about it that's the closest that [TS]

01:12:21   we've got I think you look at something [TS]

01:12:22   like daredevil right and it's like [TS]

01:12:24   character voice is pretty dark it's [TS]

01:12:25   funny at points but it's pretty daughter [TS]

01:12:27   couldn't afford a lot of Lights right [TS]

01:12:28   well yeah you know it's New York Hell's [TS]

01:12:30   Kitchen this is not very nice but i [TS]

01:12:32   think i think you're right i would love [TS]

01:12:33   to see an adventure series like this [TS]

01:12:35   that you could sort of spin out into an [TS]

01:12:36   entire long series and I think that that [TS]

01:12:39   for better or worse this genre has been [TS]

01:12:41   relegated to the blockbuster we rather [TS]

01:12:43   than being something we do on the team [TS]

01:12:44   he perhaps with the exception of the [TS]

01:12:46   flash which i think is trying to do [TS]

01:12:47   something very someone else we did a [TS]

01:12:49   very good job telling superhero stories [TS]

01:12:51   in a TV format it was called buffy the [TS]

01:12:52   vampire slayer yeah yeah well that was [TS]

01:12:54   how many years ago now what [TS]

01:12:57   when one of the six identical la [TS]

01:12:59   identical in sequence trailers we saw [TS]

01:13:02   before this what was the ant-man movie [TS]

01:13:03   and I'm kind it would really pleased me [TS]

01:13:07   a lot if it really did turn out to be [TS]

01:13:09   action-oriented and some drama but [TS]

01:13:11   mostly ok for god sakes he's called [TS]

01:13:13   ant-man and he's about this tall [TS]

01:13:15   let's let's let's let's assume we're not [TS]

01:13:17   talking about saving the entire world [TS]

01:13:18   but solving a problem an ex-con has to [TS]

01:13:20   have the proportional strength of human [TS]

01:13:23   and size body here we are about out of [TS]

01:13:26   time so I'm gonna I'm gonna ask anybody [TS]

01:13:28   if they've got last thoughts before we [TS]

01:13:30   sign off serenity of last pot I'm really [TS]

01:13:32   excited to see Scarlet Witch going [TS]

01:13:34   forward because I thought that you know [TS]

01:13:37   quibbles aside her powers are very [TS]

01:13:39   interesting we haven't seen a lot of [TS]

01:13:41   inhuman you know advanced type powers in [TS]

01:13:44   this universe as of yet we've seen you [TS]

01:13:46   know God's we've seen people who have [TS]

01:13:47   experimental strength or you know been [TS]

01:13:51   experimenting on but we we really [TS]

01:13:52   haven't seen people who were born with [TS]

01:13:54   crazy powers [TS]

01:13:55   yeah i think it's unclear though if she [TS]

01:13:57   is actually just experimenting on like [TS]

01:13:59   like Captain America depending depending [TS]

01:14:01   on how I mean and also I think we have [TS]

01:14:03   to see the rest of this season of shield [TS]

01:14:06   but what shield seems to be hinting at [TS]

01:14:08   is that Hydra was basically collecting [TS]

01:14:11   in humans [TS]

01:14:12   yeah be there and they are calling [TS]

01:14:14   humans yet surprise but like collecting [TS]

01:14:16   enhanced people and experimenting on [TS]

01:14:18   them and that the twins were the only [TS]

01:14:19   people who survived set experiments [TS]

01:14:21   which isn't mentioned the movie yes [TS]

01:14:23   exactly so I'm I'm really interested to [TS]

01:14:25   see the new the next generation of [TS]

01:14:27   Avengers I'm really interested to see [TS]

01:14:29   what phase 3 has in store [TS]

01:14:31   I really like the fact that the vit like [TS]

01:14:33   as much as I'm kind of bummed that the [TS]

01:14:35   vision kind of had really short shrift [TS]

01:14:37   because there's no real time to explain [TS]

01:14:39   it i like that he is a bridge between [TS]

01:14:41   the normal and the super hyper [TS]

01:14:43   fantastical and I think he's a better [TS]

01:14:45   bridge in a wave and Thoris because he [TS]

01:14:48   connects to the Galactic a lot better [TS]

01:14:50   with the mind stone or the mind effort [TS]

01:14:52   are we calling a gem some gems [TS]

01:14:53   yeah with the mind gem [TS]

01:14:55   in a way that like Thorin no Asgard is [TS]

01:14:58   alien and sort of connected but still [TS]

01:15:00   feels very silly whereas vision feel [TS]

01:15:03   silly but also you know we've got a [TS]

01:15:04   we've got a route because hey he was [TS]

01:15:06   Jarvis once we love Jarvis but also he's [TS]

01:15:09   carrying around crazy alien technology [TS]

01:15:11   so maybe division will show up in [TS]

01:15:13   guardians of the galaxy two who knows [TS]

01:15:15   but i but I feel like it i don't know [TS]

01:15:17   it's an it's i really like where things [TS]

01:15:20   are going Marvel has yet to really let [TS]

01:15:22   me down with the movie i look forward to [TS]

01:15:25   seeing the next round [TS]

01:15:26   don't four defendants doing anything i [TS]

01:15:29   feel like i'm anna says he isn't being [TS]

01:15:31   that lives only in credit side after I [TS]

01:15:33   just feel like he has been lurking [TS]

01:15:34   around the corner for like this was a [TS]

01:15:35   large percentage of my life [TS]

01:15:37   yes waiting in this one we saw but I [TS]

01:15:40   grew up next and credit another club and [TS]

01:15:41   I great boot socks socks first and it's [TS]

01:15:44   a very slow race dirty messy again [TS]

01:15:46   knowing nothing about the comics you [TS]

01:15:48   look so dorky to me he looks like he [TS]

01:15:50   looks like a cartoon villain drawn like [TS]

01:15:52   a scooby-doo I said the car is literally [TS]

01:15:55   a courtyard village on our tuna sammie [TS]

01:15:58   really i gave him the big chin and like [TS]

01:16:01   it I don't know he does not interest me [TS]

01:16:02   as the villain at all [TS]

01:16:03   thus far I guess I was he has incredible [TS]

01:16:05   isn't anything but he don't know he was [TS]

01:16:08   27 he was obviously that decision is [TS]

01:16:09   coming to our galleries yeah [TS]

01:16:11   elder people mention he needs to start [TS]

01:16:13   doing stuff unless delegating slashed [TS]

01:16:15   talking to yes i agree i agree i again i [TS]

01:16:19   like this movie a lot more than I like [TS]

01:16:20   the first one and I i hope this is a [TS]

01:16:23   continued upward trend although it's [TS]

01:16:25   kind of interesting to think of I don't [TS]

01:16:27   know whose contracts are expiring soon [TS]

01:16:29   as I know they lock them into very [TS]

01:16:30   long-term ya drunks but they seem to [TS]

01:16:32   have renegotiated many of them we [TS]

01:16:34   thought we were not seeing him anymore [TS]

01:16:35   baby i i wonder what happens when if [TS]

01:16:38   it's a good thing they don't have a turn [TS]

01:16:40   rate are their actors or if it's a bad [TS]

01:16:42   thing [TS]

01:16:42   the end of this movie suggest ok we have [TS]

01:16:44   new avengers now and that Tony Stark may [TS]

01:16:46   not be around so much and all that I [TS]

01:16:47   think that's good i think that's a good [TS]

01:16:49   thing go [TS]

01:16:49   well Tony Stark has been done I mean [TS]

01:16:51   iron man 3 shows a pretty clear are two [TS]

01:16:53   that I think it's great that he's here [TS]

01:16:54   and I think he's not going anywhere we [TS]

01:16:56   didn't kill him off where there's no [TS]

01:16:58   finality today in the next Captain [TS]

01:16:59   America right and so I think what we'll [TS]

01:17:01   end up seeing is like we'll have a new [TS]

01:17:03   avengers team probably in [TS]

01:17:05   infinity War part 1 and you'll have a [TS]

01:17:06   lot of like other people that we haven't [TS]

01:17:08   necessarily seen yet perhaps now and [TS]

01:17:09   then you won't be like all man [TS]

01:17:11   Stannis got bad news we better bring all [TS]

01:17:13   those other guys and we might have a [TS]

01:17:15   situation whereby ventures forth like oh [TS]

01:17:17   they Ted McGinley is now playing like [TS]

01:17:19   another superhero ok it's done but I i [TS]

01:17:23   agree that i really liked seeing the new [TS]

01:17:24   sort of Avengers come in i really i [TS]

01:17:27   thought that i really enjoyed this movie [TS]

01:17:29   for the most part I you know there are [TS]

01:17:30   parts that I think felt a little like a [TS]

01:17:32   little more the future ops and downs [TS]

01:17:34   more level to it and that didn't always [TS]

01:17:36   like get me like oh yeah this is great i [TS]

01:17:38   wasn't always like this most engaged [TS]

01:17:40   some of the fight scenes but i love the [TS]

01:17:41   character interactions and that is what [TS]

01:17:43   I come for end it yeah for me that [TS]

01:17:45   totally delivered in that way and as [TS]

01:17:47   long as they can continue to sort of [TS]

01:17:48   produce great movies where these [TS]

01:17:50   characters are interesting and interact [TS]

01:17:51   with each other and are fun and that is [TS]

01:17:53   the key word for me always come back to [TS]

01:17:55   its fun I've seen a lot of superhero [TS]

01:17:56   movies that are not fun [TS]

01:17:58   I don't need to see any more of those so [TS]

01:17:59   thumbs up looking forward to future [TS]

01:18:02   Marvel endeavors [TS]

01:18:03   I fear for any future movies of this [TS]

01:18:06   type not made with talent that involved [TS]

01:18:09   this like soon as they take away joss [TS]

01:18:10   whedon I don't know what his deal is in [TS]

01:18:11   his contract but was already gone Yeah [TS]

01:18:12   Yeah right into your heel though ended [TS]

01:18:15   like May first can put like this is a [TS]

01:18:18   high degree of difficulty and it's going [TS]

01:18:21   to be very difficult for the next guy to [TS]

01:18:23   match that's why they got to people [TS]

01:18:25   through the Russo brothers who did with [TS]

01:18:27   a soldier which was a very i will have [TS]

01:18:28   to think maybe the last Marvel movie by [TS]

01:18:30   lower degree of difficulty definitely [TS]

01:18:32   like I think I I wonder I I already said [TS]

01:18:34   I enjoy the single character movies [TS]

01:18:36   better than than the multi ones and a [TS]

01:18:38   multi one not involving joss whedon not [TS]

01:18:40   involving all these great actors who I [TS]

01:18:41   love not like just it could just be [TS]

01:18:43   dreadful so I really am feeling the next [TS]

01:18:45   one but this one you should go see this [TS]

01:18:46   were saying i will point out that the [TS]

01:18:48   Russos are not you know they're not [TS]

01:18:50   exactly not for on one will not infamous [TS]

01:18:53   I don't know what I'm looking for but [TS]

01:18:55   they directed a bunch of arrested [TS]

01:18:57   development episodes and they they've [TS]

01:18:58   been around in terms of anything on your [TS]

01:19:01   community or human challenges [TS]

01:19:02   yeah that they're um I i think there is [TS]

01:19:05   a distinct possibility that in the [TS]

01:19:07   future we will look back at the two [TS]

01:19:08   first two Avengers movies and say turns [TS]

01:19:11   out joss whedon about as good as anybody [TS]

01:19:14   could expect right great and here is so [TS]

01:19:16   much higher leap on so much the quips [TS]

01:19:17   but just because he did [TS]

01:19:18   user experience to like figure out how [TS]

01:19:20   you get these just basically putting [TS]

01:19:22   down the plot because this is pretty [TS]

01:19:23   tight in terms there was like single [TS]

01:19:25   lines that were payoff for certain plot [TS]

01:19:27   points and making clear like he did as [TS]

01:19:29   well as you can do it like it just just [TS]

01:19:30   putting the puzzle pieces together just [TS]

01:19:31   storyboarding addressing what is going [TS]

01:19:33   to happen and what is going to lead to [TS]

01:19:34   what you want to what even that is [TS]

01:19:36   really hard to do and I think joss [TS]

01:19:38   whedon by this point I think they're [TS]

01:19:39   like a script doctor and you know done [TS]

01:19:41   television and done movies like you need [TS]

01:19:43   that kind of resume to be able to just [TS]

01:19:45   pull this off a mediocre this is three [TS]

01:19:47   years like two or three years work for [TS]

01:19:48   Josh we could you know he could have [TS]

01:19:50   written 20 episodes of buffy over the [TS]

01:19:53   course of three seasons of that chair [TS]

01:19:54   right and all of that got distilled into [TS]

01:19:56   the work on this on this and this film [TS]

01:19:58   and and you know i probably would rather [TS]

01:20:00   have so I'm doing a show for a couple [TS]

01:20:01   years instead but you know what kind of [TS]

01:20:04   guy you Justice League is all i'm going [TS]

01:20:06   to say clearly influenced that was not [TS]

01:20:08   if we will see we shall see it will be [TS]

01:20:09   very interesting [TS]

01:20:10   ok we are going to wrap it up it has [TS]

01:20:12   been a pleasure to have everybody here [TS]

01:20:13   in person to talk and of course we all [TS]

01:20:15   saw it together we didn't record during [TS]

01:20:17   theater presentation because you [TS]

01:20:19   couldn't hear us over the explosions i [TS]

01:20:21   would like to thank all of my guests for [TS]

01:20:23   being here today around the table Tony [TS]

01:20:24   sindelar thank you comfortable [TS]

01:20:26   disassembled Dan Morgan thank you for [TS]

01:20:29   being here and letting us use your home [TS]

01:20:31   no disassemble John siracusa thank you [TS]

01:20:35   in the next movie deceive fill in the [TS]

01:20:36   little gem holes on his knuckles or what [TS]

01:20:38   yeah I think that's it's a game it's [TS]

01:20:39   like a like a mastermind it's like Legos [TS]

01:20:42   her mastermind along it slow motion I [TS]

01:20:44   was raising up of one hand and history [TS]

01:20:46   of cinema [TS]

01:20:46   uh-huh yep india naka thank you i spent [TS]

01:20:50   my enjoyed the mismatch pile of Miss [TS]

01:20:52   colored legos isn't any other that forms [TS]

01:20:54   Avengers 2 I I didn't I guess I don't [TS]

01:20:57   revive I seem to be drifting towards I [TS]

01:21:00   didn't not like it but I some I semi [TS]

01:21:04   enjoyed that and i will say that part of [TS]

01:21:07   it was because I changed my expectations [TS]

01:21:09   of this movie like a b-plus that we say [TS]

01:21:11   people get a strong recommendation from [TS]

01:21:13   andy and i know you heard it here answer [TS]

01:21:15   and it'll have a slight angle good yeah [TS]

01:21:18   you know I could just shoot Andy and no [TS]

01:21:22   one would know just fell on him [TS]

01:21:25   yeah but if it's an Avenger sort of [TS]

01:21:27   killing then we wouldn't find out what [TS]

01:21:28   happened or what happened to come to be [TS]

01:21:30   continued in anyway thank you to [TS]

01:21:31   everybody out there for listening I've [TS]

01:21:32   been your host Jason cell thanks to [TS]

01:21:34   everybody for coming tonight once again [TS]

01:21:37   and we will see you next week with an [TS]

01:21:39   episode that was recorded in our [TS]

01:21:41   individual homes where we can be alone [TS]

01:21:43   with ourselves [TS]

01:21:44   goodnight [TS]
