00:01:07   I I know what you I don't probably more [TS]

00:01:09   probably don't act like that first one [TS]

00:01:11   was it that was I felt like we had done [TS]

00:01:13   everything and then they gonna make a [TS]

00:01:15   movie too [TS]

00:01:16   well this is official teaser to which [TS]

00:01:17   means presumably there's also going to [TS]

00:01:19   be a trailer [TS]

00:01:20   wow yeah yeah that's what you heard [TS]

00:01:24   coming to us live from a moving vehicle [TS]

00:01:25   at serenity Caldwell hello hello I'm [TS]

00:01:29   really excited to actually get to talk [TS]

00:01:31   about Oh what star wars new new Star [TS]

00:01:35   Wars although i think seriously the [TS]

00:01:37   first time I couldn't talk it was [TS]

00:01:39   because i was in a moving vehicle as [TS]

00:01:40   well except this one this time I have a [TS]

00:01:43   lot of mikes so I guess that makes a [TS]

00:01:45   little dinner you refuse to be [TS]

00:01:47   constrained by space and time this time [TS]

00:01:49   correct i am in my tiredness bar [TS]

00:01:52   yes so so if if she sounds strange it at [TS]

00:01:55   any point that is why but will we will [TS]

00:01:57   make the best of it [TS]

00:01:58   likewise in the true spirit of flash [TS]

00:02:00   casting coming to us from a strange [TS]

00:02:02   location on an iphone from the star wars [TS]

00:02:05   celebration itself or at least nearby [TS]

00:02:07   it's a it's our our roving Star Wars [TS]

00:02:10   correspondent Dan Morgan hi Dan [TS]

00:02:12   hello Jason pleasure to be with you it's [TS]

00:02:16   a it's good it's good to have you here [TS]

00:02:18   you got to you got to see this all in [TS]

00:02:19   person today didn't you [TS]

00:02:20   I get it was pretty pretty freaking [TS]

00:02:23   awesome as Oscar Isaac might say yeah [TS]

00:02:25   yeah so that was that was quite the [TS]

00:02:27   treat that I didn't have to come back [TS]

00:02:28   then and we watched the trailer couple [TS]

00:02:30   times on my iPad because I missed a lot [TS]

00:02:33   of stuff with all the screaming I can [TS]

00:02:36   understand that that was my screaming by [TS]

00:02:38   the way just listen to the not to that [TS]

00:02:39   died so I i want to ask about the ground [TS]

00:02:43   rules here [TS]

00:02:44   I know that they mentioned a few tiny [TS]

00:02:47   little tidbits in the panel today that [TS]

00:02:49   they aren't in the trailer [TS]

00:02:51   John should we pretend that they didn't [TS]

00:02:54   do that or what don't want to know those [TS]

00:02:57   things okay [TS]

00:02:57   more specifically they they discuss the [TS]

00:03:00   location of the desert planet that [TS]

00:03:02   appears in the trailer [TS]

00:03:04   Arrakis yeah well I mean I planet [TS]

00:03:07   I I thought they confirmed whether or [TS]

00:03:08   whether or not or or not it's Tatooine [TS]

00:03:11   do you care [TS]

00:03:12   I probably did it instrumental to our [TS]

00:03:15   conversation that this be revealed what [TS]

00:03:17   I'm going to take one for the team but I [TS]

00:03:18   feel like now I don't know otherwise I i [TS]

00:03:21   get what i'm going to say is we just we [TS]

00:03:22   should probably refer to it as that [TS]

00:03:24   desert planet then since it's in [TS]

00:03:26   determining whether this is tattooing or [TS]

00:03:28   not from John's perspective even though [TS]

00:03:30   the rest of us know all right the desert [TS]

00:03:33   planet we will call it because it's [TS]

00:03:35   probably all doesn't really last time we [TS]

00:03:36   talked and warranties and just assumed [TS]

00:03:39   it was yeah yeah we can continue to talk [TS]

00:03:42   about in that way if that makes you feel [TS]

00:03:44   comfortable [TS]

00:03:45   yeah well they asked they asked JJ [TS]

00:03:47   Abrams definitively if it is tattooing [TS]

00:03:50   and we got a definitive answer so rather [TS]

00:03:53   than you know I I don't wanna I don't [TS]

00:03:55   want to spoil you on it so I figured we [TS]

00:03:56   should just say that everybody else to [TS]

00:03:58   host the definitive answer and we're [TS]

00:04:00   just gonna dance around it [TS]

00:04:02   well for everybody else to the Internet [TS]

00:04:04   yes if you still don't know you can [TS]

00:04:06   check the internet yea i meant much [TS]

00:04:08   information is available on the Internet [TS]

00:04:10   alright so so let's see how do we do [TS]

00:04:15   this on Thanksgiving morning I their [TS]

00:04:17   frame by frame [TS]

00:04:18   I i like the fact that as soon as the [TS]

00:04:20   trailer dropped we got a lot of demand [TS]

00:04:22   for many many hours of frame-by-frame [TS]

00:04:26   analysis so let's start at the beginning [TS]

00:04:29   which is a it does a sandy desert planet [TS]

00:04:33   with a vehicle streaking along is who is [TS]

00:04:36   writing it we don't know it could be [TS]

00:04:38   Luke Skywalker on a landspeeder it could [TS]

00:04:40   be Captain Kirk on his motorbike from [TS]

00:04:42   Star Trek it looks like the refrigerator [TS]

00:04:44   car from the first season yeah I think [TS]

00:04:46   that's what it is i would agree that [TS]

00:04:48   that it's Daisy Ridley riding the [TS]

00:04:50   refrigerator car that we saw that this [TS]

00:04:52   is immediately following that when she [TS]

00:04:53   takes off right could be a water heater [TS]

00:04:55   to be anything could be anything really [TS]

00:04:58   yeah and the thing in the foreground [TS]

00:04:59   originally when I saw the trailer very [TS]

00:05:01   small i misread it as like again think [TS]

00:05:05   its Tatooine at like one of those [TS]

00:05:07   moisture vaporators that had tipped over [TS]

00:05:09   but of course on second viewing I [TS]

00:05:10   realize it's actually an x-wing I took [TS]

00:05:13   me until the home doing to realize that [TS]

00:05:15   because the tube replays in the in the [TS]

00:05:17   main auditorium there I was not focused [TS]

00:05:19   on that at all [TS]

00:05:20   yeah I when watching on my iPad later [TS]

00:05:22   was like oh that's totally x-wing that's [TS]

00:05:24   half buried in say an old-fashioned [TS]

00:05:26   x-wing there are many yet crashing [TS]

00:05:29   vehicles this trailer [TS]

00:05:30   yeah you might have missed the crashed [TS]

00:05:33   x-wing in the foreground owing to the [TS]

00:05:35   fact that there is a crashed star [TS]

00:05:37   destroyer in the background [TS]

00:05:40   Shh so awesome [TS]

00:05:43   the most beautiful matte painting when i [TS]

00:05:45   watch trailer with my son and I asked [TS]

00:05:47   him what what things stood out there [TS]

00:05:49   were at our guitars we're talking about [TS]

00:05:50   the Star Destroyer and he said well [TS]

00:05:53   maybe in the battle at the end of Return [TS]

00:05:55   of the Jedi some of the start of stores [TS]

00:05:57   crashed and i said well if they crash [TS]

00:05:59   they wouldn't have crashed on Tatooine [TS]

00:06:01   was that was far away from where the [TS]

00:06:03   battles taking place but now but [TS]

00:06:06   presumably there may have been other [TS]

00:06:07   battles we don't have a nice LOL you [TS]

00:06:08   don't get there's this the Empire was [TS]

00:06:11   defeated all over the galaxy in this [TS]

00:06:13   battle so you know as we see from later [TS]

00:06:16   in the trailer sometime is fast so [TS]

00:06:19   presumably there will be more battles [TS]

00:06:21   also just just to throw it out there [TS]

00:06:24   the destruction of the death star could [TS]

00:06:26   have rain down fiery death on the moon [TS]

00:06:28   of Endor transforming it into a desert [TS]

00:06:30   planet yet possible entirely possible [TS]

00:06:33   presence speculation have a lot of sad [TS]

00:06:36   he walks a lot of city wok music we had [TS]

00:06:39   a whole forest we're so excited that we [TS]

00:06:40   won and then all of our foliage was [TS]

00:06:42   destroyed only the desert he walks [TS]

00:06:44   survived the villains of episode [TS]

00:06:46   generally actually are actually fairly [TS]

00:06:47   walks elbows are jobless the job was in [TS]

00:06:51   the desert [TS]

00:06:51   yeah they have the same language they [TS]

00:06:53   will say obtaining routine that's true [TS]

00:06:55   kini that's that's a good point the the [TS]

00:06:58   I do think it's impressive looking at [TS]

00:07:00   the start crashed our destroyer that [TS]

00:07:03   that it must have been coming in fairly [TS]

00:07:05   slow right because otherwise it would [TS]

00:07:07   have broken into a million pieces so [TS]

00:07:09   that somebody in the chatroom just [TS]

00:07:11   that good job Star Destroyer pilot you [TS]

00:07:14   did kind of as good as we could expect I [TS]

00:07:17   guess I've been like a long slow slide [TS]

00:07:19   yeah or could have actually kind of just [TS]

00:07:22   landed and slowly sunk into the sand and [TS]

00:07:24   fall into disrepair [TS]

00:07:25   maybe it's one of those things maybe a [TS]

00:07:26   day this Star Destroyer that landed on [TS]

00:07:29   this planet to refuel or something and [TS]

00:07:31   either got taken over or abandoned it's [TS]

00:07:34   just yeah [TS]

00:07:35   unka hunk of abandoned metal i was going [TS]

00:07:38   to say that thing that stood out to me [TS]

00:07:39   about it was that my only link we only [TS]

00:07:43   ever get star destroyers really in space [TS]

00:07:45   where the relative scale is very [TS]

00:07:48   different even in the first movie where [TS]

00:07:49   we get the scale against the spaceship [TS]

00:07:51   I guess the Tennessee for we get a you [TS]

00:07:54   know only in relative to like other [TS]

00:07:55   objects that might be in space so seeing [TS]

00:07:57   it relative to like the ground is [TS]

00:08:00   actually makes it to my mind that much [TS]

00:08:02   more impressive how large it is behind [TS]

00:08:05   big sand dunes very large maybe it's [TS]

00:08:09   really close to us i don't like well [TS]

00:08:10   there's some heat him some haze right [TS]

00:08:12   that there is a maid to get that to get [TS]

00:08:14   the the distance right there there's no [TS]

00:08:16   haze to the x-wing but there's a lot of [TS]

00:08:18   hay is back behind to the Star Destroyer [TS]

00:08:19   can we just talk for a second about how [TS]

00:08:22   beautiful I'm sure it's a cgi matte [TS]

00:08:24   painting but just how gorgeous that [TS]

00:08:26   initial shot is because i want that for [TS]

00:08:29   my desktop and I haven't wanted a star [TS]

00:08:31   wars photo for my desktop probably since [TS]

00:08:34   I got my Ralph McQuarrie like my those [TS]

00:08:37   paintings but that initial opening image [TS]

00:08:40   is just so evocative of Star Wars it [TS]

00:08:43   makes me so happy and it's evocative of [TS]

00:08:45   an after Star Wars like because that's [TS]

00:08:47   what the series is about it like if you [TS]

00:08:50   think about you know the prequels are [TS]

00:08:51   whatever right and then you've got the [TS]

00:08:53   the main star wars movies and those are [TS]

00:08:55   about a battle and things are dirty in [TS]

00:08:58   the future but there's a lot of battle [TS]

00:09:00   you don't get a lot of aftermath this is [TS]

00:09:02   kind of one big story about a war and [TS]

00:09:04   this is so clearly son of like it's the [TS]

00:09:06   reconstruction error like after war o [TS]

00:09:09   people are still around but a bunch of [TS]

00:09:10   crap is broken and it's hanging around [TS]

00:09:12   to remind you [TS]

00:09:13   oh yeah there was a war was a good [TS]

00:09:15   choice of words John because i believe [TS]

00:09:16   they announced that the first novel that [TS]

00:09:18   light sort of the new novel that's [TS]

00:09:20   rebooting the [TS]

00:09:22   you know star wars books is called [TS]

00:09:23   aftermath yeah Chuck win big step though [TS]

00:09:27   yeah I have fallout seems to be sort of [TS]

00:09:28   the theme here right like that there's [TS]

00:09:30   you know as John saying like in this was [TS]

00:09:32   in the same way that this is a [TS]

00:09:34   university has always been used and [TS]

00:09:36   weathered you know there is an element [TS]

00:09:38   of is going to continue to be so and JJ [TS]

00:09:41   from spread distress that why i like [TS]

00:09:42   that you know in terms of looking at the [TS]

00:09:45   universe one of the things he loves [TS]

00:09:46   about the original movies how they [TS]

00:09:48   looked so whether it lived in man his [TS]

00:09:51   love for practical effects which got him [TS]

00:09:53   a lot of applause from the audience [TS]

00:09:54   there what else anything else we want to [TS]

00:09:57   talk about about the about the this this [TS]

00:10:00   shot the CIA it is i mean i didn't have [TS]

00:10:03   that Captain Kirk moment because there [TS]

00:10:05   is a similar shot in JJ Abrams 2009 star [TS]

00:10:08   trek and which is fine i like that the [TS]

00:10:11   the refrigerator cars have been along [TS]

00:10:13   and we've got this the sense of fallout [TS]

00:10:15   that there was a big war between the [TS]

00:10:17   Empire and there and the Rebel Alliance [TS]

00:10:18   and you know it [TS]

00:10:20   war is messy and there's just there's [TS]

00:10:21   potentially just junk laying around from [TS]

00:10:24   when the war was over and the shot do [TS]

00:10:27   you think of is this then assembling the [TS]

00:10:28   enterprise on earth yeah whether there's [TS]

00:10:31   that there's that whole sequence that's [TS]

00:10:32   his like Luke Skywalker moment in star [TS]

00:10:35   trek 2009 when when when when he's [TS]

00:10:37   riding his motorcycle and there's the [TS]

00:10:39   dust trail and then he pulls up and sees [TS]

00:10:42   the enterprise there yeah although i [TS]

00:10:44   think the composition here i really [TS]

00:10:45   enjoyed the pan reveal because it does [TS]

00:10:48   take ok we're focusing on this little [TS]

00:10:50   thing that's flying across there in it [TS]

00:10:51   ok there's a thing in the view ok the [TS]

00:10:53   x-wing ok there's a giant star to star [TS]

00:10:55   there so it's really i think it's a [TS]

00:10:57   beautiful shot just in its kinetic [TS]

00:10:58   motion to as we sort of gradually reveal [TS]

00:11:01   this whole scenery [TS]

00:11:03   yeah the dune that's right next to the [TS]

00:11:06   Star Destroyer is the same shade as a [TS]

00:11:07   starter story so just click the doing [TS]

00:11:09   just literally changing color and then [TS]

00:11:11   the doing as like a big Craig Lee spot [TS]

00:11:13   and like that's no dune it's a spaceship [TS]

00:11:16   yeah all right let's move on what [TS]

00:11:21   whenever we hear things go black we hear [TS]

00:11:23   Luke Skywalker say the force is strong [TS]

00:11:26   and in in my family my father has it and [TS]

00:11:30   we see instant done [TS]

00:11:32   a burned-out brick Darth Vader mask [TS]

00:11:36   thinking red he was at you know and [TS]

00:11:41   seeing a couple times again rewatching [TS]

00:11:42   it on the smaller screen it's like a [TS]

00:11:45   missile is like a presentation going on [TS]

00:11:48   here oh yeah it's being presented use it [TS]

00:11:50   on a pedestal sorry I'm it's a it's a [TS]

00:11:52   presentation thing that we're were you [TS]

00:11:56   know it's a great like a crane shot or [TS]

00:11:58   something or it's or its being yes [TS]

00:12:00   something isn't presented yeah it's not [TS]

00:12:02   that it was dug up it was like it it's [TS]

00:12:04   being stored somewhere i feel like i'm [TS]

00:12:06   like almost like a museum piece [TS]

00:12:07   yeah my question is they you know did [TS]

00:12:12   they burn it and then take it out of the [TS]

00:12:13   fire and now it's made of tough stuff [TS]

00:12:15   off [TS]

00:12:15   well I mean I don't know if it's even on [TS]

00:12:18   a pedestal or for looking kind of like [TS]

00:12:20   secret Luke Skywalker cave with momentum [TS]

00:12:23   with mementos and he just happens to its [TS]

00:12:25   shaped himself a steel pedestal for for [TS]

00:12:30   the mementos of his life [TS]

00:12:31   it could just be a small table and end [TS]

00:12:34   table that looks great on an empty right [TS]

00:12:37   it's a it's a conversation starter i [TS]

00:12:38   really had together [TS]

00:12:41   so tell me about the mask well my dad [TS]

00:12:45   everybody has their chocolate my dad [TS]

00:12:47   board or this mask when he killed a lot [TS]

00:12:49   of people and they died in it wanted to [TS]

00:12:51   rule the galaxy with me as father and [TS]

00:12:53   son that didn't work out but in the end [TS]

00:12:54   we can we patched things I burned his [TS]

00:12:56   body and then when that the fire went [TS]

00:13:00   out we retrieved them burn mask [TS]

00:13:03   I think it's more likely that this is [TS]

00:13:05   evil people retrieved it was a totem of [TS]

00:13:08   the dark side of the force and somebody [TS]

00:13:10   said either sign of that of your crazy [TS]

00:13:13   planet Syria it being and/or you know it [TS]

00:13:19   is that it is a very evil looking at [TS]

00:13:21   table so it was from the darkside ikea [TS]

00:13:23   not the light and instructions are [TS]

00:13:26   really inscrutable and they always make [TS]

00:13:29   it take out one screw [TS]

00:13:30   I know they don't like it that if I [TS]

00:13:33   wondered if this was like giving just [TS]

00:13:36   you know we saw the shot in conjunction [TS]

00:13:37   with Luke's voiceover but i also have [TS]

00:13:39   the impression that let me was holding [TS]

00:13:41   on to for some reason we hear Luke [TS]

00:13:44   Skywalker and he's saying something [TS]

00:13:45   that's [TS]

00:13:46   not new it also gives us into the fact [TS]

00:13:49   that i feel like the events of the these [TS]

00:13:52   movies are tied so strongly to the [TS]

00:13:54   events of the previous movie like it's [TS]

00:13:55   not just you know we saw a lot of new [TS]

00:13:57   characters obviously the first teaser we [TS]

00:13:59   see a lot here but it also implies you [TS]

00:14:02   know there's a really close I to be the [TS]

00:14:04   sort of the sky walker family right like [TS]

00:14:06   that is still very active here right [TS]

00:14:09   we're not leaving all that behind and [TS]

00:14:10   moving on just to focus on like entirely [TS]

00:14:13   new character [TS]

00:14:14   yeah this is the suggestion here is very [TS]

00:14:16   strong but by quoting this dialogue what [TS]

00:14:18   Luke is doing is talking to somebody in [TS]

00:14:21   his family who is strong with the force [TS]

00:14:23   question is probably is it his family or [TS]

00:14:28   is it latest family [TS]

00:14:29   I'm inclined to believe it looks [TS]

00:14:33   yeah like that was another question I [TS]

00:14:34   just got to my son who is he talking to [TS]

00:14:36   when he says that because he's talking [TS]

00:14:37   to somebody [TS]

00:14:38   presumably who I and and then uh my son [TS]

00:14:42   said well it's obvious it's obviously [TS]

00:14:44   Luke's child and I said well looks [TS]

00:14:46   traveled who's the mother and he hadn't [TS]

00:14:48   thought of that and he didn't really [TS]

00:14:49   have an answer and I don't know either [TS]

00:14:50   because I don't know anything about to [TS]

00:14:51   be but it's it sounds like he's giving [TS]

00:14:54   his is sort of you know now it's my now [TS]

00:14:56   it's the time when you learn about the [TS]

00:14:57   facts of life one of them axes you [TS]

00:14:59   probably got the force so I mean 30 [TS]

00:15:01   years on in 30 years on he probably made [TS]

00:15:03   met somebody nice and settled down and [TS]

00:15:05   had a kid so you know I think there's a [TS]

00:15:06   lot of opportunity in there for him to [TS]

00:15:08   have plant leucas layer are brother and [TS]

00:15:10   sister so Luke's Family we can't say [TS]

00:15:11   Luke's Family and last family they're [TS]

00:15:13   the same family there are you don't [TS]

00:15:15   necessarily feel like our the idea [TS]

00:15:17   layers children [TS]

00:15:18   yeah what's interesting to me because [TS]

00:15:21   obviously the entire EU has been thrown [TS]

00:15:24   out officially and it's not canon [TS]

00:15:26   anymore but you know as someone who [TS]

00:15:28   deeply deeply red and love you there are [TS]

00:15:33   you know latest latest family played a [TS]

00:15:35   pretty big role in that and in terms of [TS]

00:15:38   the romances we have seen in the [TS]

00:15:40   original trilogy it's not out of its not [TS]

00:15:44   out of the question that we might be [TS]

00:15:46   talking about last daughter or son but I [TS]

00:15:51   I do feel like it's an interesting [TS]

00:15:52   choice to have you [TS]

00:15:54   deliver it but then again looks the Jedi [TS]

00:15:56   Master so i don't know i'm i'm so [TS]

00:15:59   conflicted so many conflicting emotions [TS]

00:16:02   yes I mean we don't see him here either [TS]

00:16:04   but I you know I think we probably will [TS]

00:16:06   get them we're gonna salt in the trailer [TS]

00:16:09   that's a question that's an open [TS]

00:16:11   question let me tell you about one of [TS]

00:16:14   our sponsors for this week's and [TS]

00:16:15   comfortable its mail route mail route [TS]

00:16:59   effective and if you are in charge of a [TS]

00:17:01   mail server you're an email [TS]

00:17:02   administrator or an IT professional they [TS]

00:17:04   built all of their tools with you in [TS]

00:17:06   mind there's an API for easy account [TS]

00:17:08   management their support for ldap and [TS]

00:17:26   your mailbox and hardware boom [TS]

00:17:30   effective there's no good reason not to [TS]

00:17:31   give it a try see for yourself what mail [TS]

00:17:33   route can do for you and all listen to [TS]

00:17:35   the uncomfortable can receive ten [TS]

00:17:37   percent off the lifetime of your account [TS]

00:17:38   by going to mail route dotnet / [TS]

00:17:40   incomparable right now thank you so much [TS]

00:17:42   to our out for supporting be [TS]

00:17:44   uncomfortable so we move to the next [TS]

00:17:46   scene and it is a fiery something [TS]

00:17:49   there's some some members coming off of [TS]

00:17:51   off of something fiery r2d2 is sitting [TS]

00:17:54   looking at the fiery thing and a hooded [TS]

00:17:57   figure with a metal hand [TS]

00:17:59   and places it on r2d2 could this be Luke [TS]

00:18:03   Skywalker I think that's the implication [TS]

00:18:05   could be anybody could be anybody [TS]

00:18:07   I am I choose to believe ninety-nine [TS]

00:18:10   percent that it is luke skywalker [TS]

00:18:12   because i love the idea of lucan are to [TS]

00:18:16   being that you know with again wizened [TS]

00:18:19   old Jedi Lucas become a recluse of sorts [TS]

00:18:22   and is hanging out with his droid buddy [TS]

00:18:26   in the middle of the swamp essential but [TS]

00:18:28   why why doesn't he have ye have a middle [TS]

00:18:30   and that's what I want like it in the [TS]

00:18:31   skin fell off over the years he always [TS]

00:18:33   had a metal and it's just white heat if [TS]

00:18:36   you think you've never prayed he seems [TS]

00:18:38   like he's not became a recluse right [TS]

00:18:40   like a cartoon looks a little beat up to [TS]

00:18:41   right yeah if he decided to run away [TS]

00:18:44   from the world for whatever reason he [TS]

00:18:47   wouldn't exactly have access to back to [TS]

00:18:48   tanks and fancy medical droids of course [TS]

00:18:51   the creepy internet you know sort of [TS]

00:18:53   suggestion there also is that it if he [TS]

00:18:55   starts to also look a lot more like [TS]

00:18:56   anakin you know with the creepy metal [TS]

00:18:58   hand so there's a you know looking a [TS]

00:19:01   certain amount of darth vader and as [TS]

00:19:02   we've just seen in the previous shot ya [TS]

00:19:05   know I the reason I thought it wasn't [TS]

00:19:06   Luke is because his arm looks skinny [TS]

00:19:08   yeah he does what he is going to come [TS]

00:19:10   down to that looks like a 18 to 24 year [TS]

00:19:13   old not like you know it looks like a [TS]

00:19:16   young man a young man's arm and you [TS]

00:19:18   can't tell from that you have something [TS]

00:19:19   about the hood dark hood and light [TS]

00:19:21   sleeve mismatch to i also thought was a [TS]

00:19:23   lot if you want to get a picky [TS]

00:19:25   why stop now well I mean the dark hood [TS]

00:19:28   symbolizing the dark side of the rest [TS]

00:19:31   more like will be wide dark dark local [TS]

00:19:33   light shirt it's the mixture of the two [TS]

00:19:36   I don't know how this fashion could've [TS]

00:19:38   changed in 30 years i don't know i like [TS]

00:19:40   the idea that potentially Luke you know [TS]

00:19:43   isn't wearing the he's embraced his [TS]

00:19:46   robot arm numbness and there's no way [TS]

00:19:49   just one more assignment just closer to [TS]

00:19:52   his father if that if that is Luke it's [TS]

00:19:55   just kind of like in a galaxy like that [TS]

00:19:57   he's I mean look at his shirts dirty [TS]

00:19:58   everything's dirty it's just like well [TS]

00:20:00   the skin started to fall off after a [TS]

00:20:01   while and I didn't want to go back into [TS]

00:20:03   most Eisley or wherever to get fixed and [TS]

00:20:05   so living out in the woods as many years [TS]

00:20:07   guess what all the skin is gone but [TS]

00:20:09   and you can see my robot and barely [TS]

00:20:11   possible but like I said that arm looks [TS]

00:20:13   skinny to me and like he looks like kind [TS]

00:20:14   of like he's doing like a Vulcan [TS]

00:20:15   mind-meld with it was through their [TS]

00:20:17   supposed to be either pat him gently but [TS]

00:20:18   it's like is he going to fix something [TS]

00:20:20   inside his brain magically which made me [TS]

00:20:23   wonder if there was like a if it could [TS]

00:20:25   be like a feeling trying to get [TS]

00:20:26   information out of our to that was sort [TS]

00:20:28   of the thing I felt like the first time [TS]

00:20:29   I saw because I agree didn't look at the [TS]

00:20:31   movie looked a little threatening right [TS]

00:20:33   and so he's by a campfire I guess [TS]

00:20:35   something that gives off members at [TS]

00:20:36   first I thought he might've been a lava [TS]

00:20:38   planet but I'm like no those that love [TS]

00:20:39   doesn't give up members i don't think i [TS]

00:20:41   was so 2000 John I know just trying to [TS]

00:20:45   you know identify the planets yeah it's [TS]

00:20:47   a fun it's a fire of some kind whether [TS]

00:20:49   it's a campfire or not I can't see any [TS]

00:20:50   s'mores there but it's not your type of [TS]

00:20:53   campfire I'm sad that I can't really [TS]

00:20:56   walk it right this second because of the [TS]

00:20:57   information driving because what i [TS]

00:20:59   thought i mean i watch the trailer for [TS]

00:21:00   probably 15 times this afternoon maybe [TS]

00:21:04   more [TS]

00:21:04   I and it seemed very sweet like very [TS]

00:21:07   much like a sweet gesture to me not a [TS]

00:21:09   sinister gesture but maybe maybe I just [TS]

00:21:11   can't see anything involving our to you [TS]

00:21:13   as a sinister scene but uh we'll see [TS]

00:21:16   i'll i have to go back and re-watch it [TS]

00:21:18   out i think the trailer implies that [TS]

00:21:20   this is Luke but it might not be but I [TS]

00:21:22   think the trailer is absolutely trying [TS]

00:21:24   to imply it right when we mentioned my [TS]

00:21:26   father we see Darth Vader when we when [TS]

00:21:27   we mention submission me [TS]

00:21:30   we see this hand we mention this sister [TS]

00:21:31   we see what looks like a woman handing a [TS]

00:21:34   lightsaber to somebody in the next scene [TS]

00:21:36   right I handing over a lightsaber [TS]

00:21:39   ok so i have a climate issue which is it [TS]

00:21:43   this looks to my eyes to be Anakin's [TS]

00:21:46   original white and the blue cat in star [TS]

00:21:48   wars empire strikes back with lots are [TS]

00:21:51   tumbling into the gas clouds of best [TS]

00:21:53   bitter want some senior think so [TS]

00:21:56   somebody went down and coming I guess I [TS]

00:21:59   have to find my lightsaber on these [TS]

00:22:01   things [TS]

00:22:02   the force is strong with that lightsaber [TS]

00:22:06   no I am I am 99.5 percent short that is [TS]

00:22:09   in fact that looks kind of Anakin's [TS]

00:22:12   original lightsaber and Luke's [TS]

00:22:14   lightsaber for a new hope [TS]

00:22:17   yeah either that one or 10 or its want [TS]

00:22:20   to say matters it is identical but all [TS]

00:22:23   lightsabers are not all lightsabers are [TS]

00:22:25   unique in theory according to you know I [TS]

00:22:28   get you [TS]

00:22:29   so I guess it could all you know maybe [TS]

00:22:30   they just make identical lightsabers now [TS]

00:22:32   about that said mom I mean I don't think [TS]

00:22:35   they would do [TS]

00:22:35   there's no reason they were making [TS]

00:22:36   identical problem is it was like rebuilt [TS]

00:22:38   for nostalgic reasons it does look [TS]

00:22:39   pretty shiny but now that's the one [TS]

00:22:40   having built both that lightsaber and [TS]

00:22:42   Darth Vader's lightsaber out of Lego I [TS]

00:22:44   spend a while studying them and i'm [TS]

00:22:46   pretty sure that's so then the question [TS]

00:22:47   becomes of course why why is that [TS]

00:22:51   lightsaber here and why is that why is a [TS]

00:22:53   female hand again apparently to wait [TS]

00:22:56   another few minutes I'll hands so the [TS]

00:22:58   question is like is either one of the [TS]

00:22:59   sets of hands Carrie Fisher I can't [TS]

00:23:01   really tell [TS]

00:23:02   I don't think the one-handed an office [TS]

00:23:04   Carrie Fisher the one receiving it might [TS]

00:23:06   be but it's hard to say that seems like [TS]

00:23:08   the suggestion again based on the [TS]

00:23:10   framing and based on the voiceover but [TS]

00:23:12   you know we've been it's unclear right [TS]

00:23:16   they deliberately or not she's wearing [TS]

00:23:18   of some sort [TS]

00:23:19   they deliberately are not like you know [TS]

00:23:20   panting up to her face obviously so [TS]

00:23:22   we're left with some position [TS]

00:23:24   alright anything more to say about [TS]

00:23:25   handing over a lightsaber well there's [TS]

00:23:27   significant 72 and i won't go into [TS]

00:23:29   details you know miners they may be [TS]

00:23:31   mentioned during the panel today but [TS]

00:23:34   like it does look as though me like [TS]

00:23:36   something is being you know turned over [TS]

00:23:38   almost like it was found maybe I don't [TS]

00:23:41   know maybe it was on it maybe was on an [TS]

00:23:43   end table 8 x coordinate is helping [TS]

00:23:45   interesting look at Walker's private at [TS]

00:23:47   predator captive strange oddities now I [TS]

00:23:50   you know the one thing i will say that [TS]

00:23:52   really got me excited [TS]

00:23:53   those are definitely female hands and [TS]

00:23:55   there's something really exciting about [TS]

00:23:57   seeing women hands and lightsabers [TS]

00:24:00   because that's not we really haven't [TS]

00:24:02   seen female Jedi or aside from you know [TS]

00:24:04   in animation so the drama and stuff [TS]

00:24:09   potential female Jedi gets me very [TS]

00:24:11   excited they were in the prequels don't [TS]

00:24:13   agree with this but yes but not much is [TS]

00:24:15   not much to do [TS]

00:24:16   that's not to think about it yeah I'm [TS]

00:24:18   I'm excluding the prequels because to me [TS]

00:24:20   honestly I'm I'm ready to forget they [TS]

00:24:23   haven't [TS]

00:24:23   we've done those podcasts and looks like [TS]

00:24:27   there might be two runs in the [TS]

00:24:27   background there it's kind of hard to [TS]

00:24:29   tell [TS]

00:24:29   look sir droids are just focus yeah and [TS]

00:24:32   like so even though we can't see the [TS]

00:24:34   people's faces you get the impression of [TS]

00:24:35   the person who's receiving the [TS]

00:24:37   lightsaber is looking down at it like [TS]

00:24:39   you know there's an angle that maybe [TS]

00:24:42   they're not just hand each others like I [TS]

00:24:43   found the end table put it away like [TS]

00:24:44   it's you know like like dances like a [TS]

00:24:46   handoff of like there's no ever wanted [TS]

00:24:49   you to have this or we found this or [TS]

00:24:50   whatever yeah one that's also it's sort [TS]

00:24:52   of painting up like this is a a smaller [TS]

00:24:54   person giving it to a much taller person [TS]

00:24:56   so although I again the context of the [TS]

00:24:58   trailer would have you believe this is [TS]

00:25:00   Princess Leia handing her father's [TS]

00:25:02   lightsaber to the next generation [TS]

00:25:05   it could very easily be something [TS]

00:25:06   completely different and i'll point out [TS]

00:25:08   that although it looks it looks like [TS]

00:25:10   these are these are women's hands [TS]

00:25:12   potentially gwendoline christie is in [TS]

00:25:15   this movie and she's tall and yeah maybe [TS]

00:25:18   that's her receiving it because the [TS]

00:25:19   person receiving it is much taller than [TS]

00:25:21   the person giving it i was thinking the [TS]

00:25:22   person receiving it was later and that [TS]

00:25:25   could be the person giving you a [TS]

00:25:26   seahorse even could be seated small [TS]

00:25:28   houses but i thought i could do I agreed [TS]

00:25:31   with a person receives a PLA there is a [TS]

00:25:33   lot of focus also on the obviously again [TS]

00:25:36   we're focused on a lightsaber here are [TS]

00:25:37   action sort of moves with that [TS]

00:25:39   so once again with the weight is given [TS]

00:25:41   to an object rather than to a character [TS]

00:25:43   literally what you're saying that the [TS]

00:25:46   droid is enough object not a character [TS]

00:25:48   I'm saying that it's a it is not a [TS]

00:25:51   person it is a you know it is a it's not [TS]

00:25:55   a princess not a flesh-and-blood person [TS]

00:25:57   that the handing off does look like it's [TS]

00:26:00   an alien too by the way in one frame you [TS]

00:26:02   can see that that that looks like it's [TS]

00:26:04   an orange alien with a funny face [TS]

00:26:06   justice suntan i'm on that unknown name [TS]

00:26:10   distant planet right at hand look you [TS]

00:26:12   two [TS]

00:26:13   yeah like this to me knuckles your hands [TS]

00:26:16   will look like that's too someday but we [TS]

00:26:18   did we did find my lightsaber in the [TS]

00:26:20   best burnout floating zone and our [TS]

00:26:23   submarine came back with this then okay [TS]

00:26:27   and then you have the power to this [TS]

00:26:29   Christmas boom and we get lightsabers [TS]

00:26:33   are not like super x-wings again zooming [TS]

00:26:36   across the water [TS]

00:26:37   a very different shot this time from the [TS]

00:26:38   one that we saw in the first teaser [TS]

00:26:40   where we were kind of watching them from [TS]

00:26:41   the side and now we're right in front of [TS]

00:26:43   them [TS]

00:26:44   that was the morning this is after the [TS]

00:26:46   successful mission is this beautiful i [TS]

00:26:49   love them them kicking up water although [TS]

00:26:50   have imagined you're like out fishing [TS]

00:26:52   one day and you're just like that area [TS]

00:26:55   fishing fish and then the and suddenly [TS]

00:26:57   this weekend x-wing blue those stupid [TS]

00:27:00   x-wing blue angels always lie and kids [TS]

00:27:03   yeah yeah nice nice weeks there it's a [TS]

00:27:06   great another great sort of like [TS]

00:27:07   movement shot again you know we talked [TS]

00:27:09   about this in the first podcast about [TS]

00:27:11   the trailers you know but so many space [TS]

00:27:13   battles of course in the original [TS]

00:27:14   trilogy taking place in you know in the [TS]

00:27:16   blackness of space because it's a lot [TS]

00:27:18   easier to Matt shots against them and so [TS]

00:27:20   seeing x-wings flying through the [TS]

00:27:22   atmosphere is still quite a treat [TS]

00:27:24   yeah it's all it's aight x-wings in the [TS]

00:27:28   shot by my count it seems alright and [TS]

00:27:33   then making trouble and upsetting the [TS]

00:27:35   fish and oscar isaac is like an night is [TS]

00:27:39   going woohoo [TS]

00:27:41   he seems pretty happy but not yet be [TS]

00:27:42   that's not what he's saying oh we still [TS]

00:27:46   have our red black sort of you know [TS]

00:27:49   helmet motif going on the recognizable [TS]

00:27:52   rebel symbol some more about shan his [TS]

00:27:54   little toilets jacket there but like you [TS]

00:27:57   know so much again like so much what we [TS]

00:27:59   saw seem so to you know take directly to [TS]

00:28:01   the original trilogy so you guys are [TS]

00:28:05   bigger ship nerds that I am how much [TS]

00:28:08   different is are these models of X way [TS]

00:28:11   from our return of the jedi they have [TS]

00:28:14   split engines like the engines are [TS]

00:28:17   semicircles rather than full circles [TS]

00:28:19   which they tie believe are in the [TS]

00:28:22   original trilogy so like they look then [TS]

00:28:25   we talked about this a little bit on the [TS]

00:28:26   first broadcasted they look a little bit [TS]

00:28:28   more like the realms McCrory concept art [TS]

00:28:32   which I know they drew heavily from we [TS]

00:28:34   also have split wings biggest so unlike [TS]

00:28:36   a regular x-wing where when the wings [TS]

00:28:38   are closed you see two wings a top wing [TS]

00:28:40   like a top piece of bread and a bottom [TS]

00:28:42   like about a piece of bread in this [TS]

00:28:43   situation on these x-wings when they [TS]

00:28:45   close one [TS]

00:28:46   part of the Rings the front half of the [TS]

00:28:47   wing and one part of the back at but [TS]

00:28:49   it's one layer thing [TS]

00:28:50   yeah yeah okay it's easier to see that [TS]

00:28:52   after they're like the flyover I like [TS]

00:28:54   the super seventies plastic box on Oscar [TS]

00:28:58   Isaac so yes there with the big plastic [TS]

00:29:00   but ass [TS]

00:29:01   it's like a like a Nintendo cartridge [TS]

00:29:03   has been attached to his chest right [TS]

00:29:05   enjoy that it actually doesn't do [TS]

00:29:07   anything even in the star wars universe [TS]

00:29:08   is just there for like continuity he's [TS]

00:29:11   going to organ computer in the back has [TS]

00:29:12   got plastic tubes like all nine yards [TS]

00:29:14   ya gonna do how I i know i get to talk [TS]

00:29:19   in that first trailer thing so i just [TS]

00:29:20   have to shut make it brief shoutout for [TS]

00:29:23   just how real this movie looks Bob and I [TS]

00:29:26   know that was one of JJ Abrams big goals [TS]

00:29:30   is to you know sort of return us to the [TS]

00:29:32   the tangible aspect of the star wars [TS]

00:29:35   universe and every single shot i see [TS]

00:29:38   including of course droids which i'm [TS]

00:29:40   sure we will talk about later on I just [TS]

00:29:43   get me so it fills me with a joy for [TS]

00:29:47   star wars that i really haven't had a [TS]

00:29:49   long time because the prequels felt so [TS]

00:29:52   plasticky right they didn't it didn't [TS]

00:29:55   feel like you could walk into that world [TS]

00:29:57   anywhere up whereas i feel like this [TS]

00:30:01   this version of Star Wars JJ Abrams Star [TS]

00:30:04   Wars feels so lived in and it feels [TS]

00:30:06   outdoorsy more like it doesn't feel [TS]

00:30:08   soundstage like a lot of the prequels I [TS]

00:30:10   mean if you do it in a soundstage and [TS]

00:30:12   you can make a lookout Doors you win [TS]

00:30:14   like I don't care if you actually do it [TS]

00:30:15   on location but you have to like if it [TS]

00:30:17   looks if i look at it and say that's a [TS]

00:30:19   sound stage with green screens you [TS]

00:30:21   failed and so much of a likely said I [TS]

00:30:24   outdoorsy John after we talked to him [TS]

00:30:25   for a while at the bonfire see ya ya ya [TS]

00:30:28   can be like an inversion to start where [TS]

00:30:30   else if that's on a soundstage I don't [TS]

00:30:32   care as long as I think it's outside but [TS]

00:30:34   so much of the prequels was like did not [TS]

00:30:36   look like it was outside the lighting [TS]

00:30:38   was off [TS]

00:30:38   I you know it's not like you can see [TS]

00:30:40   Matt lines or green screen or anything [TS]

00:30:42   but you could just tell like that's [TS]

00:30:43   clearly not uh you know that they don't [TS]

00:30:46   you have not convinced me to their [TS]

00:30:47   outdoors even though you're trying to [TS]

00:30:49   tell me their address you have not [TS]

00:30:50   convinced me that was outside the window [TS]

00:30:51   is that right [TS]

00:30:52   shiny it's the matrix right it's all the [TS]

00:30:55   whiting wasn't there yet nice rented you [TS]

00:30:57   know JJ Abrams talked a little bit today [TS]

00:30:58   about [TS]

00:30:58   like wanting everything to look like you [TS]

00:31:01   know you can easily mentioned that very [TS]

00:31:03   fact like the lighting looks good here [TS]

00:31:04   if he did a very good job of talking [TS]

00:31:06   about what he liked about the original [TS]

00:31:08   without saying explicitly this is what [TS]

00:31:09   went wrong with the prequels but it felt [TS]

00:31:12   very much like that was the kind exactly [TS]

00:31:13   what he was saying [TS]

00:31:15   yeah it's hard to do like when you have [TS]

00:31:17   you know is a fine line here at you have [TS]

00:31:19   an indoor scene and there's a window and [TS]

00:31:21   outside the window is outdoors and it's [TS]

00:31:23   not really an important part of the [TS]

00:31:24   scene but if you don't make the outside [TS]

00:31:26   of the window looks like the actual [TS]

00:31:27   outdoors the whole thing feels [TS]

00:31:28   claustrophobic and you feel like you [TS]

00:31:30   feel like you're just in like you know [TS]

00:31:31   the truman show where it's like there's [TS]

00:31:32   a movie showing outside your window [TS]

00:31:34   really you're inside deep inside [TS]

00:31:35   something you know it just feels too [TS]

00:31:38   confined [TS]

00:31:39   it's funny to me because I feel I still [TS]

00:31:41   feel like you know looking back the [TS]

00:31:43   prequels momentarily [TS]

00:31:45   the only thing that feels real about the [TS]

00:31:48   prequels to be are some of the [TS]

00:31:50   Palestines on Naboo and some of the [TS]

00:31:52   summer cottage on the zoo because that [TS]

00:31:55   actually was shot on location and shot [TS]

00:31:57   outdoors and featured real buildings [TS]

00:31:59   well but at some of the Tatooine stuff [TS]

00:32:01   and in episode one especially to mission [TS]

00:32:03   and my piano and you if they have less [TS]

00:32:05   challenging scenario so first of all I [TS]

00:32:07   think the entire pod race which of [TS]

00:32:08   course happens nowhere but in a computer [TS]

00:32:10   for the most part or with tiny models [TS]

00:32:12   that are shot on a set that for the most [TS]

00:32:14   part feels like it's outdoors [TS]

00:32:15   alright well you know but like you think [TS]

00:32:17   it was much easier senior like well [TS]

00:32:19   we're gonna have these people sitting on [TS]

00:32:20   a couch in Khorasan and they're on a [TS]

00:32:22   balcony or this big open window you can [TS]

00:32:24   get away like going up in an escalator [TS]

00:32:26   or elevator [TS]

00:32:28   yeah i didn't i didn't feel like any of [TS]

00:32:30   the things out the windows were really [TS]

00:32:31   there I felt like it was a movie playing [TS]

00:32:32   behind them and it just it kills it you [TS]

00:32:34   can get away with in the pod racing [TS]

00:32:35   because it's fast and blurry well it's [TS]

00:32:38   very bright [TS]

00:32:39   it's real lighting and it's nothing like [TS]

00:32:41   anything that's really like we all can [TS]

00:32:43   identify we've all seen people sitting [TS]

00:32:45   on a couch [TS]

00:32:46   very few of us have seen actual Padre [TS]

00:32:47   cysts right like it's I think it's [TS]

00:32:50   easier to sell a desert and bright [TS]

00:32:52   someone that it is to sell a movie [TS]

00:32:53   Twilight sitting behind peoples then you [TS]

00:32:55   have to match the lighting of like well [TS]

00:32:56   it was moody Twilight outside and [TS]

00:32:58   Coruscant [TS]

00:32:59   how would the light look on people's [TS]

00:33:00   faces indoors and then just does a [TS]

00:33:02   slight mismatch and that's all it takes [TS]

00:33:04   so I'm i also wanted to point out that [TS]

00:33:06   the i like i like the outdoorsy stuff [TS]

00:33:09   JJ Abrams said today [TS]

00:33:12   not a spoiler but that they are looking [TS]

00:33:14   at an assembly of the whole movie [TS]

00:33:16   without this without the CGI and he said [TS]

00:33:20   the great thing about it is you know [TS]

00:33:21   what's going on and that's because [TS]

00:33:24   there's so much real stuff in it and [TS]

00:33:26   again the implication there is if you're [TS]

00:33:28   shooting on a virtual set all you have [TS]

00:33:31   is people in front of a green screen and [TS]

00:33:33   you don't know what you're seeing and [TS]

00:33:34   that little shy playing charades right [TS]

00:33:36   your actors don't have anything to react [TS]

00:33:38   to exactly and that's why I like a lord [TS]

00:33:40   of the rings they had Andy Serkis [TS]

00:33:42   they're wearing the little funny [TS]

00:33:43   jumpsuit with the ping-pong balls the [TS]

00:33:44   even though they're gonna totally erase [TS]

00:33:46   him and that's just what he wears John [TS]

00:33:48   geez that's why he wasn't wearing the [TS]

00:33:50   ping-pong balls but anywhere wearing the [TS]

00:33:52   jumpsuit it's like why is even in this [TS]

00:33:53   scene is to give them something to act [TS]

00:33:55   off of to say it roughly it's gonna look [TS]

00:33:57   like this guy [TS]

00:33:58   yes speaking of things that act up can [TS]

00:34:00   we talk about mediate yet no not yet [TS]

00:34:04   nope we don't get worried that we we're [TS]

00:34:06   gonna go in order here so hold on next [TS]

00:34:08   scene next scene we have a we have [TS]

00:34:11   apparently our villain and this and this [TS]

00:34:15   villain is care is this is our friend [TS]

00:34:18   with the with the lightsaber with the [TS]

00:34:21   two little scarred lightsaber is coming [TS]

00:34:23   off of it the villain villain is wearing [TS]

00:34:26   a dark cloak but not white a white shirt [TS]

00:34:29   and has a am a ski mask on and is [TS]

00:34:32   swiping is swiping very rapidly along [TS]

00:34:34   with sparks by the way swiping a bonfire [TS]

00:34:38   to is a bonfire stormtrooper and a [TS]

00:34:41   bonfire stormtrooper and a and a tent [TS]

00:34:45   and a lightsaber without like when you [TS]

00:34:47   said swiping very vigorously Jason [TS]

00:34:48   because you made it sound like he was [TS]

00:34:49   using an iphone yeah swipe that he's [TS]

00:34:51   trying to unlock his lights in with all [TS]

00:34:53   these masks and you know like they have [TS]

00:34:55   a hooded figures who are also wearing [TS]

00:34:57   masks they look kind of robotic and [TS]

00:34:58   wearing shiny gloves are getting a big [TS]

00:35:00   destiny vibe off this guy haha [TS]

00:35:03   is hunter class obviously now warlock [TS]

00:35:06   please [TS]

00:35:07   oh no look at the mud look at the ball [TS]

00:35:10   I don't know it's hard anyways yeah he's [TS]

00:35:12   got a light saber and he's hitting [TS]

00:35:14   something and he seems upset and by the [TS]

00:35:16   way this is the same bonfire e-type [TS]

00:35:18   scene because you've got the embers yeah [TS]

00:35:20   looks like a TV in the background and a [TS]

00:35:22   stormtrooper behind him so it looks like [TS]

00:35:23   kind of the same setting where we just [TS]

00:35:26   are two and the weird creepy hand [TS]

00:35:27   yeah there's a lot of bonfire your [TS]

00:35:29   rising on aren't you could be I that is [TS]

00:35:33   a very short scene it's followed [TS]

00:35:34   immediately by a shot of daisy ridley [TS]

00:35:36   and John boyega and bb/9 running / roll [TS]

00:35:41   with her BB BB BB is equal [TS]

00:35:44   yeah you before BB king BB King you [TS]

00:35:48   really want John boyega are all running [TS]

00:35:50   went out that every single shot of John [TS]

00:35:52   boyega we have in this trailer and the [TS]

00:35:54   last trailer he's always running routes [TS]

00:35:56   but he'll African yeah he's it's like a [TS]

00:35:58   bad day for him so far [TS]

00:36:00   I gotta love that he's like c-3po of [TS]

00:36:03   this movie [TS]

00:36:04   can I just liked it you know we work [TS]

00:36:07   this is a I you know we it's not giving [TS]

00:36:09   anything away say that he is eight main [TS]

00:36:11   character you know I and he's because [TS]

00:36:13   he's been featured very heavily and all [TS]

00:36:15   of this is punchy face we see in the [TS]

00:36:17   first light and and I like to think the [TS]

00:36:19   fact that like we're all used to having [TS]

00:36:20   characters were hyper competent great [TS]

00:36:21   everything he just seems like he's [TS]

00:36:23   freaked out on him and I really enjoy [TS]

00:36:25   these sweaty he's put upon he's scared [TS]

00:36:28   he's running away from explosions just [TS]

00:36:31   like you know he should not get out of [TS]

00:36:33   bed that morning yeah in this so in this [TS]

00:36:35   second at-bat we she's gotta a stick of [TS]

00:36:39   some kind [TS]

00:36:40   he's he's just running with a leather [TS]

00:36:42   jacket and and bb-8 is rolling himself [TS]

00:36:45   away as eight from a an explosion that [TS]

00:36:47   keeps getting worse because it tie [TS]

00:36:49   fighter a single time I fighter is a [TS]

00:36:52   strafing wherever they're running away [TS]

00:36:54   from on sandy planet and the fighter as [TS]

00:36:56   usual has lousy game yesterday little [TS]

00:37:00   shooting at the enemy shooting at the [TS]

00:37:02   building they're running out of its [TS]

00:37:03   shooting at them then it's got really [TS]

00:37:04   bad aim shooting at that building maybe [TS]

00:37:06   the TIE fighter like piles I've got an [TS]

00:37:08   upgrade in the last 30 years [TS]

00:37:09   yeah you see something like it looks [TS]

00:37:11   like a bunch of disks buried in the [TS]

00:37:12   background [TS]

00:37:13   it's not supposed to be but look how [TS]

00:37:14   Jeff shield generator yeah Empire is [TS]

00:37:17   just a hunk of junk buried in the ground [TS]

00:37:19   and there's some other people off to the [TS]

00:37:20   left also running away from this [TS]

00:37:21   explosion Bismarck State Building yeah [TS]

00:37:25   the building has been recently evacuated [TS]

00:37:26   because explosion caused tie fighters [TS]

00:37:28   are coming to blown up [TS]

00:37:29   yes I really wanted to make our adorable [TS]

00:37:32   little ball droid roll away from [TS]

00:37:35   explosions [TS]

00:37:36   yeah and so you know this is something [TS]

00:37:37   where r 2 unless he uses his little [TS]

00:37:39   prequel jetpacks like he's not going to [TS]

00:37:41   be able to keep up with people running [TS]

00:37:43   away from an explosion but the ball [TS]

00:37:44   droid [TS]

00:37:45   no problem sand ball droid handles and [TS]

00:37:47   bb-8 handle sandwich and generally also [TS]

00:37:49   a in inline of him being upset about [TS]

00:37:51   things about halfway through this little [TS]

00:37:53   clip when the the latest firing from the [TS]

00:37:57   TIE fighter smacks and there's a second [TS]

00:37:59   explosion he does an extra screen mid [TS]

00:38:02   screen because uh yeah he's definitely [TS]

00:38:06   having a rough day bad data and the [TS]

00:38:07   woman running see she's you know seems [TS]

00:38:10   much more together [TS]

00:38:11   I don't have time to mention she's [TS]

00:38:12   carrying the big bass clarinet or [TS]

00:38:14   whatever she's got no she just for [TS]

00:38:16   running away with the bank statement but [TS]

00:38:18   not really [TS]

00:38:19   tusken raider staff to you later staffed [TS]

00:38:22   not wait those are curved on the end [TS]

00:38:25   table like an acorn Lightcap usually [TS]

00:38:27   right is looking better because i saw i [TS]

00:38:29   saw plastic and I was gonna say just and [TS]

00:38:32   wondered once you go to the Star Wars [TS]

00:38:33   convention or something and she by the [TS]

00:38:36   way she is wearing a total Luke [TS]

00:38:39   Skywalker e Tatooine a new hope outfit [TS]

00:38:41   here [TS]

00:38:42   oh yeah yeah yeahs to the wraps [TS]

00:38:45   yeah it's the long flowing she she has [TS]

00:38:47   only she has a light color to me that I [TS]

00:38:49   want to be the only difference is they [TS]

00:38:51   want to show a little bit more skin so [TS]

00:38:52   she's her sleeves don't connect all the [TS]

00:38:54   way up to the you know the inner park so [TS]

00:38:56   it's a little bit reviewing on her than [TS]

00:38:58   it was on Luke because the other point [TS]

00:39:00   Portman's terrible outfit from yes [TS]

00:39:03   exactly an idea let's get this could be [TS]

00:39:06   a stylistic choice was that an [TS]

00:39:07   uncharitable could get scared [TS]

00:40:32   front now back to the show [TS]

00:40:34   BB BB 8 when it is in the shot so if you [TS]

00:40:37   want to talk about about it you do that [TS]

00:40:39   now [TS]

00:40:40   okay well not not to spoil anything for [TS]

00:40:44   John but i think he knows this already [TS]

00:40:47   it's a physical prop yeah they said that [TS]

00:40:49   during the first trailer they have it on [TS]

00:40:51   rolling around on stage today I do have [TS]

00:40:54   some pictures of it rolling around on [TS]

00:40:55   stage that's pretty crazy i have copious [TS]

00:40:58   video because oh my gosh if they don't [TS]

00:41:01   figure out a way to market him into the [TS]

00:41:03   most adorable christmas toy i will cry I [TS]

00:41:06   I think Star Wars has got your marketing [TS]

00:41:09   taken care of cable disaster was asking [TS]

00:41:12   about that on Twitter today and about [TS]

00:41:14   the possible way could work and [TS]

00:41:15   eventually through his tweets i saw that [TS]

00:41:17   like there's some toy company did fear [TS]

00:41:19   of it [TS]

00:41:19   yeah that that has pioneered the [TS]

00:41:21   technology to make toys like this and [TS]

00:41:23   they use that same thing to make the [TS]

00:41:24   price still say when I see the one in [TS]

00:41:27   the original teaser where it's bouncing [TS]

00:41:28   along real fast but the thing bouncing [TS]

00:41:30   on it oh yeah it still looks a little [TS]

00:41:31   bit CGH to me but like the physical [TS]

00:41:34   wanna it's kind of like where you know [TS]

00:41:36   the original movies they had multiple [TS]

00:41:37   are to some remote controls [TS]

00:41:39   the Kenny Baker was in and everything [TS]

00:41:41   like i imagine that there are many shots [TS]

00:41:43   with the practical deviate in them and [TS]

00:41:46   their other shots for a hero cg like [TS]

00:41:48   this one for instance it could be seeing [TS]

00:41:49   you on his way in the background is [TS]

00:41:51   blurry yet wouldn't have bothered to try [TS]

00:41:53   to get the droid like I don't know how [TS]

00:41:55   fast toilet can move is what i'm getting [TS]

00:41:56   at it but ya wanna hit up boo super fast [TS]

00:42:00   i will fit [TS]

00:42:00   yeah interesting tidbit kathleen kennedy [TS]

00:42:02   mentioned that Robert Iger himself after [TS]

00:42:05   his company apparently for the body [TS]

00:42:07   well there was a story reported last [TS]

00:42:08   October that Sphero said it would be [TS]

00:42:11   partnering with Disney star wars [TS]

00:42:13   franchise to make a new toy [TS]

00:42:16   so there you guys what yeah there's the [TS]

00:42:19   answer and then it looks like there's a [TS]

00:42:21   there's like a magnetic connection for [TS]

00:42:23   the for the head unit electromagnets [TS]

00:42:26   yeah although it does yeah it does move [TS]

00:42:28   a lot slower on stage and you could tell [TS]

00:42:29   like it whirled around pretty well but [TS]

00:42:31   every once awhile look like I'm never [TS]

00:42:32   like on the verge of falling for ya like [TS]

00:42:35   I don't have my theory on how it worked [TS]

00:42:37   having seen the two second clip of the [TS]

00:42:39   physical one rolling around on twitter i [TS]

00:42:41   was that it's not involving magnets that [TS]

00:42:44   basically the thing on top is on top of [TS]

00:42:46   a bunch of wheels that would they can [TS]

00:42:48   roll in various directions and basically [TS]

00:42:50   the ball on the bottom is easy to make a [TS]

00:42:51   ball that self-propelled right we know [TS]

00:42:52   how to do that with internal you know [TS]

00:42:54   motors and weights and stuff and then a [TS]

00:42:56   thing on top simply races to stay atop [TS]

00:42:59   the ball is in which direction the ball [TS]

00:43:01   is moving and correcting for it and so [TS]

00:43:03   that puts a limit on the speed because [TS]

00:43:04   you suddenly make the ball starts to [TS]

00:43:05   move very quickly in the head can't [TS]

00:43:07   react fast enough to help local toppling [TS]

00:43:08   off like that it's not actually [TS]

00:43:10   connected there know Maggie's holding on [TS]

00:43:11   the only thing holding it on is gravity [TS]

00:43:13   and little tiny wheels and motors that [TS]

00:43:15   keep it a top of thing [TS]

00:43:16   yeah based on what cable because I was [TS]

00:43:18   following that threat as well i think [TS]

00:43:21   the the original MIT project the cable [TS]

00:43:24   found was using electromagnets and [TS]

00:43:26   basically a balancing rod inside the [TS]

00:43:29   actual actual ball so I I don't know I I [TS]

00:43:35   tend to believe that it is at least [TS]

00:43:37   magnetic in nature based on what the [TS]

00:43:40   based on the footage I saw of it rolling [TS]

00:43:43   around on stage the problem of thing [TS]

00:43:45   that with the magnets is like I mean I i [TS]

00:43:47   guess if you had just the shell of the [TS]

00:43:50   ball rotating but the internal magnet [TS]

00:43:52   always stays point straight up number [TS]

00:43:53   two how the ball rolls you know domain [TS]

00:43:55   like what is yeah I don't know what I'm [TS]

00:43:58   trying to think what's i'm thinking of [TS]

00:43:59   it the way that you know like when [TS]

00:44:01   you're a kid you play with like magnets [TS]

00:44:04   shavings and you put the magnet [TS]

00:44:05   underneath the paper and as you move the [TS]

00:44:07   paper from side-to-side the magnet [TS]

00:44:09   shavings move from side to side i have [TS]

00:44:11   to assume that they have a magnet like [TS]

00:44:13   on a tray of some kind and then the tray [TS]

00:44:15   is robot robotically controlled so that [TS]

00:44:18   basically the idea being that as they [TS]

00:44:20   should tell the train to go left the [TS]

00:44:22   magnet goes laughter than the ball head [TS]

00:44:25   rotates lamps and such are i'm trying to [TS]

00:44:28   think about what economic the builds a [TS]

00:44:29   toy and the thing that makes it you know [TS]

00:44:33   electromagnets that's power and [TS]

00:44:34   everything but on the other hand to do [TS]

00:44:36   it the way I described requires fairly [TS]

00:44:38   fast and sophisticated computers to [TS]

00:44:40   react to the ball so maybe that would [TS]

00:44:42   only be practical for the actual prop so [TS]

00:44:44   yeah we will all get these toys & [TS]

00:44:46   finance community involvement find out [TS]

00:44:48   what ya many BBS die different word [TS]

00:44:51   android but now i really like what toys [TS]

00:44:54   aside i do want to be v8 but i really [TS]

00:44:58   love the design of his droid i know a [TS]

00:45:00   lot of people made fun of him for being [TS]

00:45:02   a little bit of soccer ball in the first [TS]

00:45:04   and the first trailer up but I [TS]

00:45:06   especially watching him on that on the [TS]

00:45:10   keynote today and watching the second [TS]

00:45:12   trailer it's such a different like we we [TS]

00:45:16   seeing the ad astra max and we've gotten [TS]

00:45:19   so used to ask the maximum gotten so [TS]

00:45:21   used two protocol droids on that this is [TS]

00:45:23   a very different it's very different [TS]

00:45:25   type of movement and they seem to have [TS]

00:45:27   discovered that you know even with a [TS]

00:45:29   circular with a circular droid you can [TS]

00:45:32   still do the same kind of expressive [TS]

00:45:33   movement and maybe even more so that [TS]

00:45:36   then we were able to do with the r2 and [TS]

00:45:39   with c-3po and all the other models and [TS]

00:45:42   I'm there you know there are a couple [TS]

00:45:43   shots here and there which I guess we'll [TS]

00:45:45   talk to we get there but it really it [TS]

00:45:47   really feels like they've managed to [TS]

00:45:49   give bb-8 a personality of his own [TS]

00:45:51   without having to make him in our to [TS]

00:45:53   stand in and without having you know [TS]

00:45:57   while he's not replacing the droids we [TS]

00:46:01   know and love he's his own his own [TS]

00:46:02   creature and I think I think [TS]

00:46:06   he's going to be a fan favorite pretty [TS]

00:46:08   close pretty quickly he's already kind [TS]

00:46:10   of which is way into my heart he's a [TS]

00:46:12   scrapper your droid for a time when [TS]

00:46:14   there is less you know there's less [TS]

00:46:16   organization it seems like even you know [TS]

00:46:17   you have all the rebels were scrappy in [TS]

00:46:19   the Empire was very organized but still [TS]

00:46:21   the rebels had some you know they had a [TS]

00:46:22   thing going whereas this we keep seeing [TS]

00:46:24   these individual characters running away [TS]

00:46:27   from explosions and dry like they don't [TS]

00:46:28   look organized and they would have [TS]

00:46:30   destroyed because like this is the [TS]

00:46:31   little person with dried he goes around [TS]

00:46:32   with them and it's a much more sort of [TS]

00:46:34   ragtag bunch of individuals and trying [TS]

00:46:36   to make their way in the world then they [TS]

00:46:38   don't look like they're part of any [TS]

00:46:40   organized resistance or anything right [TS]

00:46:42   goes to the same point about John boyega [TS]

00:46:44   again once like not sort of being on top [TS]

00:46:46   of my main question about bb-8 is what [TS]

00:46:50   is his actual droid functionality like [TS]

00:46:52   what was he built for he is obviously a [TS]

00:46:55   giant like soccer referee or is the [TS]

00:46:58   answer ya don't come don't get the [TS]

00:47:00   referee so there's a quick cut from this [TS]

00:47:05   era fade and then we cut to the RR [TS]

00:47:09   villain again [TS]

00:47:10   who's this friend is your name saying I [TS]

00:47:12   ran this is your namesake el pelo red [TS]

00:47:15   color and the bad guy [TS]

00:47:17   yes it's the same guy with the with it [TS]

00:47:19   with that mask and that and that and [TS]

00:47:21   that a at a lightsaber didn't know [TS]

00:47:24   anybody played kotor right fielder [TS]

00:47:27   Publius yeah i don't i don't know i [TS]

00:47:30   don't know how much of that we want to [TS]

00:47:32   get it too if anything I don't know [TS]

00:47:34   anything about that but i want to [TS]

00:47:35   mention i just say that the mask is very [TS]

00:47:38   interesting very yeah it looks a lot [TS]

00:47:41   like a lot of the baby there have been a [TS]

00:47:42   number of video games with sort of dark [TS]

00:47:44   jedi sith would have you in them and [TS]

00:47:46   they almost invariably seem to have some [TS]

00:47:49   creepy going on the face region [TS]

00:47:50   well I'm Darth Vader email or you had a [TS]

00:47:53   mask right artists started that is a [TS]

00:47:54   trend was trend the fashion statement [TS]

00:47:57   what is it about six lords and having an [TS]

00:47:59   inability to breathe properly wash [TS]

00:48:01   allergies the dark side of the force [TS]

00:48:03   makes you very susceptible to sunburn [TS]

00:48:05   so you have to protect yourself with a [TS]

00:48:07   dark cloak and a mask their their arm so [TS]

00:48:10   here we've got people that look like [TS]

00:48:12   prisoners or refugees or something being [TS]

00:48:14   held at gunpoint by some stormtroopers [TS]

00:48:17   in the background there are various fire [TS]

00:48:18   is going [TS]

00:48:19   on including more embers and we have cut [TS]

00:48:22   kylo Ren our villain spin around with [TS]

00:48:24   his lightsaber and reach out with a [TS]

00:48:26   grasping hand right like it like it [TS]

00:48:29   they were supposed to be attending to [TS]

00:48:30   these prisoners / refugee / whatever and [TS]

00:48:33   suddenly notices there's something [TS]

00:48:34   coming from the direction that the [TS]

00:48:35   camera is coming from and he turns [TS]

00:48:37   around quickly and with his lightsaber [TS]

00:48:39   up with his little force and poking out [TS]

00:48:41   and and then this is it actually is the [TS]

00:48:44   camera is the problem is it out and wait [TS]

00:48:46   for being filmed for the office [TS]

00:48:48   no autographs no autographs sorry I know [TS]

00:48:51   it's not a baller or is it a droid I [TS]

00:48:53   can't tell [TS]

00:48:54   please do not pass myself he's a working [TS]

00:48:57   set i love the new empire logo [TS]

00:49:01   I don't obviously i don't know if it's [TS]

00:49:02   the empire but the the logos been [TS]

00:49:04   changed in some interesting ways that [TS]

00:49:06   the higher design firm to try to freshen [TS]

00:49:08   it [TS]

00:49:08   yeah so the next in the next shot [TS]

00:49:10   whatever is left of the Empire and and I [TS]

00:49:12   think so this the next shot has a whole [TS]

00:49:15   bunch of Stormtroopers I'd like a big [TS]

00:49:18   podium above with a whole bunch of [TS]

00:49:20   people on it including on dude [TS]

00:49:22   sometimes your black right and this red [TS]

00:49:24   and this read it and they're on a nice i [TS]

00:49:27   see location are others no hard hard as [TS]

00:49:31   I icy snowy location and and a there's a [TS]

00:49:34   red banner with this black symbol on it [TS]

00:49:38   that is almost to the symbol of of [TS]

00:49:42   Greendale Community College from [TS]

00:49:44   community but not quite varied the [TS]

00:49:47   background right and admit button [TS]

00:49:48   brothers a stripper to you can 15 is [TS]

00:49:52   where things got a little skirt [TS]

00:49:53   oh yeah there is a snowtrooper back [TS]

00:49:55   there and that all the way in the back [TS]

00:49:56   you're a good spot turbolasers on the [TS]

00:49:59   side there from new hope you got the new [TS]

00:50:01   storm trooper design which is [TS]

00:50:03   interesting and it like that it is it [TS]

00:50:06   almost start circling back to the [TS]

00:50:08   prequel trooper design because it's [TS]

00:50:10   smooth over it is less tubular and less [TS]

00:50:12   lumpy and more sort of like it [TS]

00:50:16   Abby you try to maps like the technology [TS]

00:50:19   looking different for a purpose but this [TS]

00:50:20   almost looks like they restyled it like [TS]

00:50:23   when you restore a car for the new model [TS]

00:50:24   year [TS]

00:50:25   yeah new empire and reselling it yet to [TS]

00:50:28   touch on colts old styles they do look [TS]

00:50:31   kind of duck face [TS]

00:50:32   but I kind of enjoy that spit smoothies [TS]

00:50:35   in this spring empire but they actually [TS]

00:50:39   it's a little weird because the rest of [TS]

00:50:41   the the rest of the universe feels so as [TS]

00:50:44   you were describing before like broken [TS]

00:50:45   and lived in whereas i feel like with [TS]

00:50:49   this is a structure for uniforms feel [TS]

00:50:53   very very shiny [TS]

00:50:55   yeah that's the aesthetic they're [TS]

00:50:56   clearly going for with for the the evil [TS]

00:50:59   guys later we see another black shiny I [TS]

00:51:00   their guns are shining their outfits are [TS]

00:51:02   shiny they are shiny [TS]

00:51:03   I mean even even that they're the [TS]

00:51:05   strangely colored typewriter is shinier [TS]

00:51:08   than normal like are still waiting out [TS]

00:51:10   there still in this big hunk of junk [TS]

00:51:12   thing with all the Canterbury lasers and [TS]

00:51:13   some snow but that they themselves are [TS]

00:51:16   trying to look as prim and proper and [TS]

00:51:18   Chinese possible and and a tip for the [TS]

00:51:21   Empire really don't have any kind of [TS]

00:51:23   meetings with the giant red banner [TS]

00:51:25   behind you because it tells me that [TS]

00:51:26   snazzy ish [TS]

00:51:27   yeah well be hard to pull that off and [TS]

00:51:29   still be good [TS]

00:51:30   that's what they're going for I i like [TS]

00:51:32   the implication here that this is the [TS]

00:51:35   thread in the movie is that the Empire [TS]

00:51:36   has got new stuff they're back this [TS]

00:51:38   whatever this is new empire splinter [TS]

00:51:41   group trying to come back [TS]

00:51:42   are they are breaking out you might say [TS]

00:51:44   but they they might be striking back and [TS]

00:51:46   when a bit they've bought some new armor [TS]

00:51:48   and they've got a new flag horses [TS]

00:51:51   awakening [TS]

00:51:52   yeah so that that a that's that but I I [TS]

00:51:55   that is intriguing right because um that [TS]

00:51:58   is one of the questions like I thought [TS]

00:51:59   we beat the empire but nope nope there's [TS]

00:52:01   stormtroopers and there's like they got [TS]

00:52:03   a meeting and made that someone's gonna [TS]

00:52:04   give a speech and that's not good right [TS]

00:52:08   dr. prison honest yeah they got their [TS]

00:52:10   new ships and everything yeah we'll see [TS]

00:52:12   that in a second [TS]

00:52:13   no good we dissolve two-shot of I guess [TS]

00:52:19   that's is that Daisy Ridley again I [TS]

00:52:21   believe it yet and she's looking up and [TS]

00:52:25   that's really all that happens in that [TS]

00:52:26   shot is that she looks up nice lighting [TS]

00:52:29   is very pretty that's what happens that [TS]

00:52:30   shot [TS]

00:52:31   yeah she's not she's not a drinking milk [TS]

00:52:34   and she's also sweaty and dirty [TS]

00:52:36   yeah yep and she looks up perhaps to see [TS]

00:52:40   two Tie Fighters scooping downward [TS]

00:52:44   different seen through the through the [TS]

00:52:46   clouds totally different see this [TS]

00:52:47   trailer logic right the trailer logic is [TS]

00:52:49   she looks up and tie fighters come down [TS]

00:52:51   even though it's totally not connected [TS]

00:52:53   and one of them goes through a cloud [TS]

00:52:55   because they're showing off for some [TS]

00:52:58   yeah because TIE fighters because TIE [TS]

00:53:00   fighters they could be embers from a [TS]

00:53:02   bonfire we don't know they have the tie [TS]

00:53:04   fighters looks crappy or two like I [TS]

00:53:06   don't know if it's the same model [TS]

00:53:07   performance they look thinner and [TS]

00:53:08   spindly are in the same way the new [TS]

00:53:10   x-wings look a little bit like that the [TS]

00:53:12   wind the wings are thinned out and of [TS]

00:53:13   course the reverse color it makes and it [TS]

00:53:15   gives these sort of same ships x-wing [TS]

00:53:18   fighters a very different look even [TS]

00:53:19   though they may vary only in small ways [TS]

00:53:21   then then things get really interesting [TS]

00:53:25   so the next scene is as a longer seen [TS]

00:53:28   and it and it's on a on a spaceship [TS]

00:53:31   perhaps a Star Destroyer there is a open [TS]

00:53:34   to space with a magnetic barrier behind [TS]

00:53:36   at the far end of this Bay there are a [TS]

00:53:39   whole bunch of TIE fighters lined up and [TS]

00:53:41   then there are stormtroopers that are [TS]

00:53:43   shooting at a thai fighter that is [TS]

00:53:44   taking off [TS]

00:53:45   perhaps whoever is taking this tie [TS]

00:53:48   fighter is doing so in an unauthorized [TS]

00:53:49   fashion and it's firing back at these at [TS]

00:53:53   the other Thai fighters in the [TS]

00:53:54   stormtroopers that at least one [TS]

00:53:55   stormtrooper goes flying like an [TS]

00:53:57   upside-down [TS]

00:53:59   yep they're making their escape in this [TS]

00:54:02   tie fighter it's what it looks like they [TS]

00:54:03   got their commandeer to tie fighter and [TS]

00:54:05   in the fighter Bay and they're shooting [TS]

00:54:07   their way out [TS]

00:54:08   yeah there's another you can just see [TS]

00:54:09   the back of another ship with [TS]

00:54:11   like-for-like diagonal engines which i [TS]

00:54:13   think will see in a subsequent shot up [TS]

00:54:15   the Scout shuttlecraft or whatever yeah [TS]

00:54:17   bad news for that guy I don't think he's [TS]

00:54:19   I think he's gonna need some serious [TS]

00:54:21   physical therapy trooper we cut to [TS]

00:54:24   another storm trooper oh but what's [TS]

00:54:27   what's this that storm trooper takes off [TS]

00:54:28   his helmet and it is John boyega he's [TS]

00:54:31   really sweaty and upset and she's so so [TS]

00:54:36   again like trailer logic were meant to [TS]

00:54:37   believe that somehow connected to the [TS]

00:54:39   previous scene right where is it may or [TS]

00:54:41   may not be i will note that when you [TS]

00:54:43   slow down and same thing off his helmet [TS]

00:54:45   there's like a bloody handprint on it [TS]

00:54:47   yeah bloody or muddy or whatever the [TS]

00:54:50   point is his outfit is not shiny it's a [TS]

00:54:52   mess it's like he's been down the [TS]

00:54:53   garbage chute or something o.o outfit is [TS]

00:54:56   a man [TS]

00:54:57   he takes off the helmet he's a mess [TS]

00:54:58   underneath the helmet that's why you [TS]

00:55:00   don't wear white guys it shows all the [TS]

00:55:01   dirt yep [TS]

00:55:02   yeah clearly the design for a more [TS]

00:55:05   orderly universe and again like the two [TS]

00:55:07   times we've seen him and his [TS]

00:55:08   stormtrooper outfit he has taken off his [TS]

00:55:10   helmet and been exasperated blow that [TS]

00:55:12   helmet so the question is is he a [TS]

00:55:14   stormtrooper is he pretending to be a [TS]

00:55:16   stormtrooper is he in a somewhat [TS]

00:55:18   unwilling stormtrooper on a little short [TS]

00:55:21   for a stormtrooper stormtroopers that [TS]

00:55:23   had a change of heart a planted spy like [TS]

00:55:25   we don't know he seems to be not very [TS]

00:55:27   good at it because he's always very [TS]

00:55:28   startled and and cannot keeping his [TS]

00:55:31   outfit clean and just all strapped up [TS]

00:55:33   like most stormtroopers me know where [TS]

00:55:35   they're not getting very calm under [TS]

00:55:38   pressure guys when they don't shoot well [TS]

00:55:40   I really like the way that the TIE [TS]

00:55:43   fighter kind of hovers off-kilter on [TS]

00:55:45   that deck infect the whole shot again is [TS]

00:55:46   kinda off kilter the deck is slanted you [TS]

00:55:49   know we gotta watch out for the cameras [TS]

00:55:51   tilted as it tracks along the edge Abram [TS]

00:55:53   style [TS]

00:55:54   yep yep the Dutch angle makes everything [TS]

00:55:57   a little bit more confusing at first and [TS]

00:56:01   it's skewed so boyega upset and then the [TS]

00:56:06   next shot we have a we have a fade and a [TS]

00:56:08   quick cut to outside outer space there [TS]

00:56:11   is that ship that we saw in the bay [TS]

00:56:12   moving toward a Star Destroyer along [TS]

00:56:16   with three other models so it's four [TS]

00:56:18   models of our four ships of the same [TS]

00:56:20   model along with one of those bird one [TS]

00:56:23   of those by watching the taller to pray [TS]

00:56:25   upside down one of those big wingy [TS]

00:56:28   things is going toward it and the stars [TS]

00:56:30   very they're going towards is not a new [TS]

00:56:32   hope model star destroyer but that's the [TS]

00:56:34   one it's not cs2 at the bottom look bit [TS]

00:56:37   of it sticks out more than the top and [TS]

00:56:39   bridges set back a little bit [TS]

00:56:41   you can't tell like this bigger mound [TS]

00:56:43   before the bridge so it's like this is [TS]

00:56:45   difficult to place in the timeline is [TS]

00:56:46   this like just a leftover star destroyer [TS]

00:56:49   from the the Jedi or is this like the [TS]

00:56:53   new model but it's not quite as fancy as [TS]

00:56:55   the old ones were it's hard to say the [TS]

00:56:57   the little shop craft look a lot like [TS]

00:56:59   prequel ships in the little stubby [TS]

00:57:01   dorsal fin wing and the [TS]

00:57:03   engines on an angle and the batwing [TS]

00:57:05   thing looks like nothing we've seen [TS]

00:57:07   before [TS]

00:57:07   yeah it's a weird the car looks like a [TS]

00:57:09   shuttle without the third without the [TS]

00:57:11   third thing yeah but looks it but it [TS]

00:57:13   looks to me like is how they like to [TS]

00:57:15   give in the prequels the Sith their own [TS]

00:57:18   story and your ships reads like a city [TS]

00:57:20   signature ships perhaps our villains [TS]

00:57:23   ya know it totally ran trend that yeah I [TS]

00:57:27   had the exact same thought you did which [TS]

00:57:28   it looks like one of the like one of the [TS]

00:57:29   shuttles that got it stop [TS]

00:57:31   little wing taken off but it's got [TS]

00:57:34   everything taken off it's flat and the [TS]

00:57:36   but it's got two little engines and it's [TS]

00:57:37   flat it's like it's it is but I don't [TS]

00:57:40   want you can see the front of it so hard [TS]

00:57:41   to tell but anyway the texture on the [TS]

00:57:42   fact that it's all dark and craggy [TS]

00:57:44   looking at it makes me think it's a bad [TS]

00:57:46   guy [TS]

00:57:47   custom bad guy ship which everybody [TS]

00:57:48   every decent guy has that it's like [TS]

00:57:50   Darth Vader started off with a little [TS]

00:57:51   curvy little curvy TIE fighter like I [TS]

00:57:54   want one of those gotta have your [TS]

00:57:56   bespoke evil ship [TS]

00:57:57   well well then so we dissolve to a [TS]

00:58:00   chroma speaking foreign trooper well [TS]

00:58:03   he's black and chrome we gotta keep [TS]

00:58:06   though you don't let just anybody wear a [TS]

00:58:07   cape right you might get caught it [TS]

00:58:08   painted red and black cape yeah that is [TS]

00:58:11   not regulation people it's got a rifle [TS]

00:58:13   yeah anyway and he's standing in front [TS]

00:58:15   of our little capsule-shaped lights from [TS]

00:58:17   New Hope sort of Death Star kind of [TS]

00:58:19   lights but then also the rocks to the [TS]

00:58:21   left [TS]

00:58:22   yeah which is weird and some lights that [TS]

00:58:24   look very nineteen seventies on the [TS]

00:58:25   right there to data this stormtrooper is [TS]

00:58:29   significantly taller [TS]

00:58:31   yes Matt you know shiny black i'm going [TS]

00:58:35   to go out on a limb and say that this is [TS]

00:58:37   one of christie's character could be [TS]

00:58:39   because come on that would be awesome [TS]

00:58:42   because she's very she would have a [TS]

00:58:45   fashionable cape like that you think it [TS]

00:58:47   could be yeah actually I really like I [TS]

00:58:51   adore gwendoline christie and i have no [TS]

00:58:54   idea who she's playing in this movie [TS]

00:58:55   other than that she's cashed in this [TS]

00:58:57   movie up but I'm kind of hoping that [TS]

00:59:00   she's playing that guy or like a [TS]

00:59:03   lieutenant because she plays you know [TS]

00:59:05   she plays conflicted good person so well [TS]

00:59:08   i'm getting from that I feel like she [TS]

00:59:11   really could sink your teeth it did [TS]

00:59:13   scary scary bad bad lieutenant also with [TS]

00:59:18   you know what we're lacking a barrage a [TS]

00:59:20   type character thanks to the EU being [TS]

00:59:23   destroyed i kinda want it i would love [TS]

00:59:25   to see what in evil you know [TS]

00:59:28   not here not even may be evil but like [TS]

00:59:30   what somebody who's working for the [TS]

00:59:32   Empire whose you know female and also a [TS]

00:59:36   badass look like time to take a brief [TS]

01:01:23   is the which actor I don't know actors [TS]

01:01:25   names which actor on I'm getting brianna [TS]

01:01:27   brianna is tall because i was gonna I [TS]

01:01:31   was looking at the shape of like this is [TS]

01:01:32   like a woman my main impression seeing [TS]

01:01:34   this for the seven frames this person [TS]

01:01:36   walks towards us [TS]

01:01:37   this person is walking with swagger like [TS]

01:01:39   this person is is a confident it [TS]

01:01:42   confident in their abilities kind of bad [TS]

01:01:45   guy mean yes there's the Cape [TS]

01:01:46   yes the shininess by the way this person [TS]

01:01:48   walks is with attitude and with purpose [TS]

01:01:51   well what are the opposite of how John [TS]

01:01:52   bio work sorry I want car so what we'll [TS]

01:01:55   do the rationale behind having a shiny [TS]

01:01:57   stormtrooper uniform is this like [TS]

01:01:58   special forces elite stormtrooper yeah [TS]

01:02:01   it's like what you got to be again to [TS]

01:02:03   get the cape and the shiny outfit feel [TS]

01:02:05   like you need to be pretty badass [TS]

01:02:06   no nothing says badass like a cape town [TS]

01:02:10   is the shininess and the smoothness is [TS]

01:02:12   the stylist that [TS]

01:02:13   but like this is still functional the [TS]

01:02:14   only thing that's not quite functional [TS]

01:02:16   that looks more ceremonial is the Cape [TS]

01:02:17   part of it but everything else like [TS]

01:02:19   having the color coordinated weapons [TS]

01:02:20   with matches your belt matches your [TS]

01:02:22   shoulder pads it is it's like a dress [TS]

01:02:25   because it's like a dress uniform [TS]

01:02:27   somebody pointed out that this isn't [TS]

01:02:28   chrome its space grey space black horse [TS]

01:02:31   got it does it does look like shiny [TS]

01:02:33   black their own bits but then the light [TS]

01:02:35   I think the main helmet it's more like [TS]

01:02:37   the mac pro which jason yeah that's true [TS]

01:02:40   back problems darker place star gray i [TS]

01:02:44   dissolve to bb-8 leaves bb-8 leaning out [TS]

01:02:50   into a corridor to peak recognized for a [TS]

01:02:54   taurus yes this quarter look familiar [TS]

01:02:57   huh [TS]

01:03:00   delightful debi the Millennium Falcon I [TS]

01:03:03   mean a lot of ships a lot of you know [TS]

01:03:04   relationships that didn't have the [TS]

01:03:07   similar interiors but yeah it's looking [TS]

01:03:09   pretty Falcon ish that's all we always [TS]

01:03:12   say fade away as its peak of what it [TS]

01:03:14   what is BBB HC we don't know it's fading [TS]

01:03:17   out before we can tell you a lot of [TS]

01:03:19   beautiful little poke around the corner [TS]

01:03:20   I i do love that yeah that that's a [TS]

01:03:22   really nice [TS]

01:03:23   there's a personality that's good [TS]

01:03:25   personality work there as an easier move [TS]

01:03:27   for him to do that are too because our [TS]

01:03:28   to whenever they had that PQ has a tilt [TS]

01:03:30   entire cylinder ya body and try not to [TS]

01:03:32   think about what is it was doing they [TS]

01:03:34   talk very specifically about how how [TS]

01:03:36   they considered the the two people I [TS]

01:03:39   think who controlled bb-8 remotely I [TS]

01:03:42   mean they they talked about them [TS]

01:03:43   performing him very much like a [TS]

01:03:45   puppeteer would perform something so [TS]

01:03:47   right now i think that i think that was [TS]

01:03:48   the consideration here is that there is [TS]

01:03:50   you know this is a performance by a [TS]

01:03:52   couple of people of getting this droid [TS]

01:03:54   body to do what it does so absolutely [TS]

01:03:57   it's a cute shot i like it a lot lot of [TS]

01:03:59   personality in those eight frames fade [TS]

01:04:02   in on we got Daisy Ridley again with her [TS]

01:04:06   tattoo in this outfit she's looking [TS]

01:04:09   off-screen at perhaps John boyega who is [TS]

01:04:14   super sweaty and there's like around [TS]

01:04:17   covered with dirt covered with dirt and [TS]

01:04:19   sweat and there's sort of smoky stuff [TS]

01:04:21   happening in the background and she [TS]

01:04:23   offers him her [TS]

01:04:24   and come with me if you want to live [TS]

01:04:26   yeah that's right and he looks at it [TS]

01:04:27   like um and then he looks at her and [TS]

01:04:29   says okay and and reaches up and grabs [TS]

01:04:33   her arm and she helps pull them up here [TS]

01:04:36   goes nothing [TS]

01:04:36   yeah that's I i get the sense that this [TS]

01:04:38   is a a momentous moment right it's a big [TS]

01:04:41   moment in the story that this is [TS]

01:04:43   starting to help him [TS]

01:04:45   yeah that's right it's like a these two [TS]

01:04:47   characters are gonna are gonna hang [TS]

01:04:50   together feet and help each other out [TS]

01:04:52   that's right again again John boyega [TS]

01:04:55   looking kind of a at lost super unkempt [TS]

01:04:58   and unhappy ya mouth open today once [TS]

01:05:03   again this guy yeah is it is you get the [TS]

01:05:06   sense that john-boy is going well in [TS]

01:05:07   that in the first trailer where we saw [TS]

01:05:08   him pop up in the desert right I this is [TS]

01:05:13   I suspect this is all part of the same [TS]

01:05:15   extremely bad day that he has Charlie [TS]

01:05:18   goes very bad day started a bad start [TS]

01:05:22   the day with a clean stormtrooper [TS]

01:05:24   uniform nice and shiny and white and be [TS]

01:05:26   wind up like in the sand somewhere all [TS]

01:05:29   sweaty and it looks like it's been [TS]

01:05:30   destroyed by bombs like the buildings [TS]

01:05:32   are all mess behind him that happen [TS]

01:05:34   looks like a battle taking place back to [TS]

01:05:36   my original theory where John by a guy [TS]

01:05:38   is Threepio this astrology is the tin [TS]

01:05:43   dog [TS]

01:05:43   no i don't think so i don't think so i [TS]

01:05:46   think he's I think he's a key i think [TS]

01:05:47   the dynamic is going to be amusingly [TS]

01:05:49   different here where we where we get the [TS]

01:05:50   two of these characters are teaming up [TS]

01:05:53   but we'll see [TS]

01:05:54   oh I think he's gonna be a major [TS]

01:05:56   character I just mean in terms of its [TS]

01:05:58   side in terms of his but like look on [TS]

01:06:01   life he's gonna complete complaining it [TS]

01:06:03   will be the one who tells you the odds [TS]

01:06:05   exactly john-boy will tell us the odds [TS]

01:06:09   and in whatever his do we know what his [TS]

01:06:12   character name is we do don't we [TS]

01:06:13   we do same thin okay uh next shot okay [TS]

01:06:19   here we go next shot desert landscape I [TS]

01:06:23   believe perhaps this is the chase [TS]

01:06:25   between the Millennium Falcon and the [TS]

01:06:27   TIE fighters that we saw another part of [TS]

01:06:30   in a trailer [TS]

01:06:31   unless there's more than one unless [TS]

01:06:33   there's more than one the Millennium [TS]

01:06:34   Falcon is being chased by a TIE fighter [TS]

01:06:36   the TIE fighter is shooting at [TS]

01:06:38   it it is making a turn over the sand so [TS]

01:06:40   close in fact that it appears to push [TS]

01:06:42   through the sand and not and fly past [TS]

01:06:47   the camera because why not send you can [TS]

01:06:49   just push sand out of the way sandy [TS]

01:06:51   sandy and built up there [TS]

01:06:53   yeah they're going fast they blow blow [TS]

01:06:55   through that sand fly past the camera [TS]

01:06:58   and cut to a into an engine into the [TS]

01:07:02   engine of a crash Star Destroyer on this [TS]

01:07:05   world that can't tell if that's a Star [TS]

01:07:07   Destroyer at least I can't tell if it's [TS]

01:07:09   the first of all it doesn't look like [TS]

01:07:10   it's the same one we saw before because [TS]

01:07:11   it still takes angle wrong angle and [TS]

01:07:13   maybe so the bridge there's no bridge [TS]

01:07:15   but it does appear to be a cruiser of [TS]

01:07:16   something larger than partnership and it [TS]

01:07:18   has three large engines as the one to [TS]

01:07:21   the left of it apparently could be a [TS]

01:07:23   superstar two-story actually honestly [TS]

01:07:25   yeah yeah I thought it was a super star [TS]

01:07:28   destroyer that in the original shot [TS]

01:07:29   actually [TS]

01:07:30   and then we get a really good another JJ [TS]

01:07:33   Abrams like pull in really fast on the [TS]

01:07:37   action which is a very very JM shot and [TS]

01:07:40   help handheld camera battlestar [TS]

01:07:41   galactica type movie exactly it's the [TS]

01:07:43   reply [TS]

01:07:44   Kathy maybe handheld camera the camera [TS]

01:07:46   man realizes he needs to get closer so [TS]

01:07:49   he flips the zoom and we shoot in to see [TS]

01:07:52   the the Millennium Falcon sort of [TS]

01:07:56   disappearing into the darkness of the [TS]

01:07:58   tube of the of the wrecked engine with [TS]

01:08:01   the TIE fighter right behind it and then [TS]

01:08:03   quick putt to tie fighter pilot with red [TS]

01:08:07   stripes could just be the same scary [TS]

01:08:10   chrome black stormtrooper we saw earlier [TS]

01:08:12   maybe pretty different mask looks [TS]

01:08:14   different masses will absolutely but [TS]

01:08:15   maybe this is the pilot helmet but [TS]

01:08:17   anyway it's black black and shiny with [TS]

01:08:19   chrome bits it looks a lot like the old [TS]

01:08:21   typewriter masks but just again once [TS]

01:08:23   again as with the stormtroopers like [TS]

01:08:25   it's got like a it's a novel take on it [TS]

01:08:27   and the red thing on that they will get [TS]

01:08:29   your random yeah on one houses the only [TS]

01:08:32   one they don't want to lose our toes [TS]

01:08:35   exhaust port or something so it's it's [TS]

01:08:37   flying and then wewe cut back outside [TS]

01:08:39   and we've got the Millennium Falcon [TS]

01:08:41   fleeing the shots of the TIE fighter [TS]

01:08:44   goes over a little bit of structure of [TS]

01:08:49   the inside the [TS]

01:08:51   the Star Destroyer and their the TIE [TS]

01:08:54   fighter shot explodes it we fly into the [TS]

01:08:56   explosion oh god no very very return of [TS]

01:08:59   the jedi like and that's putting going [TS]

01:09:01   to into the death star base to the [TS]

01:09:02   superstructure yeah so maybe they knock [TS]

01:09:06   off the radar again [TS]

01:09:07   yeah and and then that's it that's the [TS]

01:09:10   end of the trailer there's nothing else [TS]

01:09:12   yeah that's definitely not a final state [TS]

01:09:14   and then cut to black and any thoughts [TS]

01:09:15   about this anymore thoughts about this [TS]

01:09:17   whole sequence of the TIE fighter in the [TS]

01:09:19   Millennium Falcon it's really exciting [TS]

01:09:21   and I laughed at the callback even if [TS]

01:09:22   it's not the same star destroy the idea [TS]

01:09:24   that hey there's a Star Destroyer what [TS]

01:09:26   what if we flew into a crash Star [TS]

01:09:28   Destroyer maybe they'd be crazy to [TS]

01:09:30   follow us the best thing about the [TS]

01:09:33   Millennium Falcon is if any ship was [TS]

01:09:35   going to decide that the main way that [TS]

01:09:37   it would get himself out of jams is to [TS]

01:09:38   fly through tight spaces don't take the [TS]

01:09:40   ones shaped like a gigantic pizza with [TS]

01:09:42   stuff sticking out like it is not well [TS]

01:09:44   that's not what it looks like and it's [TS]

01:09:47   aired in it its wide but it's flat [TS]

01:09:50   I'm I don't like it what it would do is [TS]

01:09:52   it with lower your tie fighters into [TS]

01:09:54   these tiny spaces and the typewriter is [TS]

01:09:56   smaller in every dimension in the ship [TS]

01:09:58   and then just do sheer piloting skill [TS]

01:10:00   and the luck of finding crevices that [TS]

01:10:02   are very long and skinny it would just [TS]

01:10:04   go through like a line peace and Tetris [TS]

01:10:06   and just everything will blow up behind [TS]

01:10:07   it was shooting at the end like that [TS]

01:10:10   beautiful thing about how utterly [TS]

01:10:12   beautiful those those air fights are [TS]

01:10:15   John why that's why it's exciting [TS]

01:10:17   because it is so improbable to see this [TS]

01:10:19   ship go make these moves [TS]

01:10:21   John what you missed what you have [TS]

01:10:24   missed is the hours they have spent [TS]

01:10:26   painstakingly setting up courses that [TS]

01:10:27   are specifically designed to facilitate [TS]

01:10:29   the mountain locking crowds boy [TS]

01:10:31   so anyway it goes to black not much else [TS]

01:10:33   happens after that [TS]

01:10:35   wait a second we we hear a voice that [TS]

01:10:39   seems familiar say Chewie we're home as [TS]

01:10:43   we fade up on Ibaka and hand solo I [TS]

01:10:48   here's I think we've seen these people [TS]

01:10:51   before in this exact shot if nothing [TS]

01:10:54   else that and so on seems very gravely [TS]

01:10:57   like Harrison Ford himself the actor is [TS]

01:10:59   very gravely yelled age more so than [TS]

01:11:01   mark [TS]

01:11:01   maleny sounds very graphically here and [TS]

01:11:04   the reason they do it in black and hear [TS]

01:11:05   his voice you like well that's [TS]

01:11:07   recognizably Harrison Ford's voice right [TS]

01:11:09   and he's saying chewy is recognizably [TS]

01:11:11   Han Solo's voice yeah but they don't [TS]

01:11:13   they haven't shown you them yet that's [TS]

01:11:15   still black and when they fade in on it [TS]

01:11:17   chewy and this is a question from [TS]

01:11:19   Twitter yes more or less looks the same [TS]

01:11:21   and dancing was asking how old they look [TS]

01:11:24   at how long the bookies live wikipedia [TS]

01:11:26   says they live for severe they live for [TS]

01:11:27   hundreds of years and and therefore [TS]

01:11:29   they're not like guinea pigs or [TS]

01:11:31   something they live they live much [TS]

01:11:32   longer than people because i had that [TS]

01:11:34   first thought is why is chewy not grey [TS]

01:11:36   and somebody said well he's not human [TS]

01:11:37   you know maybe they will keep your turn [TS]

01:11:40   gray it's possible my dog turned white [TS]

01:11:41   but my cat lived for 20 years and never [TS]

01:11:43   turned white [TS]

01:11:45   then again right if they're very [TS]

01:11:47   long-lived and then somebody else [TS]

01:11:48   suggested he may use just for wookies [TS]

01:11:50   yeah and but it's he has a very thick [TS]

01:11:53   glossy coat he looks like himself [TS]

01:11:55   maybe he's been taking care of himself [TS]

01:11:57   and Harrison Ford is not well I'm saying [TS]

01:11:59   is that lumpy didn't look like he was [TS]

01:12:00   taking care of himself down but someone [TS]

01:12:02   must be very hundreds and hundreds of [TS]

01:12:04   years old I i want to say a couple [TS]

01:12:06   things one which is I'm glad that [TS]

01:12:08   Harrison Ford is not you know not being [TS]

01:12:10   a absurdly made up to look you know [TS]

01:12:12   they're embracing his age which i think [TS]

01:12:14   is smart I think that's the only way the [TS]

01:12:16   only way to go here [TS]

01:12:18   he's good evening just for men advisory [TS]

01:12:20   councils he looks good for his age but [TS]

01:12:22   there's no question that is that you [TS]

01:12:23   know older he's probably like this is [TS]

01:12:26   scruffy-looking nerf herder [TS]

01:12:27   right exactly he's still true to that [TS]

01:12:28   character i think which is fantastic [TS]

01:12:30   I mean still wonderful yeah and I like [TS]

01:12:33   that this shot deliberately echoes the [TS]

01:12:36   sort of classic shot of Han and Chewie [TS]

01:12:39   standing shoulder-to-shoulder with the [TS]

01:12:41   guns out I didn't recognize realize [TS]

01:12:42   until I think one of the again watchin [TS]

01:12:45   on the iPad that he had sold was [TS]

01:12:47   pointing his gun at the camera [TS]

01:12:49   yeah it's what kind of page in because [TS]

01:12:51   you wearing a dark jacket there but they [TS]

01:12:52   both got the guns up at the ready [TS]

01:12:54   there's probably release [TS]

01:12:55   yep yeah they're clearly standing the [TS]

01:12:57   most fat book everybody looks like it [TS]

01:12:58   might have gotten some modifications [TS]

01:13:00   that we just got some new greebles but I [TS]

01:13:02   yeah but clearly standing on one the [TS]

01:13:04   Millennium Falcon to ya and so Hans [TS]

01:13:07   outfit is not the same out for the [TS]

01:13:09   reunion but when you first see it it is [TS]

01:13:11   it is black on white and it echoes the [TS]

01:13:15   old outfit [TS]

01:13:15   but it is a different outfit that is [TS]

01:13:17   dirty and has rumbled and he hasn't the [TS]

01:13:18   laundry in a while and it makes services [TS]

01:13:20   you know the same hairstylist had but [TS]

01:13:22   it's kind of you know shoveled it makes [TS]

01:13:25   sense that he's had he's bought new [TS]

01:13:26   clothes at some point in the last 30 [TS]

01:13:28   years so Lana took all the other ones [TS]

01:13:31   yeah it was i justyou know Harrison [TS]

01:13:35   Ford's been a lot of stuff and yet in [TS]

01:13:37   this just moment you like it's hot solo [TS]

01:13:39   yeah like it's something about it and [TS]

01:13:43   like I was so we knew in the first round [TS]

01:13:44   we said okay they didn't show any of the [TS]

01:13:46   old actors obviously they're saving them [TS]

01:13:47   for later and this one they saved it [TS]

01:13:48   they didn't show anybody except for [TS]

01:13:50   hunting sure they saved for the end and [TS]

01:13:52   you know so what we knew they were in [TS]

01:13:55   this movie it's not a surprise he looks [TS]

01:13:57   like Han Solo what's the big deal and it [TS]

01:13:59   caught me by surprise happen to be the [TS]

01:14:02   emotional impact of this final scene [TS]

01:14:04   because nothing happens and the line he [TS]

01:14:06   says is corny and they're in the [TS]

01:14:08   millennium falcon which we are it looks [TS]

01:14:09   like they're in the main factor which [TS]

01:14:10   you already knew it wasn't because they [TS]

01:14:11   keep showing it [TS]

01:14:12   so what's the end she looks the same so [TS]

01:14:14   what's the big deal and I've been [TS]

01:14:16   thinking about like i watch trailer [TS]

01:14:17   several times like I said I first time I [TS]

01:14:18   watch it work [TS]

01:14:19   I was like tearing up by the end of it [TS]

01:14:21   had music half of that is the meeting [TS]

01:14:23   should be like what music which we [TS]

01:14:25   haven't talked about that right but like [TS]

01:14:27   they go through several of the more [TS]

01:14:29   emotional themes those movies but when [TS]

01:14:30   they brought this the scene in here it's [TS]

01:14:32   like it [TS]

01:14:33   yeah I don't know it's like it's it's [TS]

01:14:35   like morning your use while also [TS]

01:14:37   revisiting it was saying like this [TS]

01:14:39   person in these people he met were so [TS]

01:14:40   important to you [TS]

01:14:42   they're still alive they still exist in [TS]

01:14:44   this fictional universe and here they [TS]

01:14:45   are you look at them and you're looking [TS]

01:14:48   yourself like I'm not the same person I [TS]

01:14:50   was but that's still Han Solo right but [TS]

01:14:53   he's older [TS]

01:14:54   the Germans have a word for all of that [TS]

01:14:55   just one word for all of that everything [TS]

01:14:57   is better i'm sure they do but like but [TS]

01:14:59   that's that's what it's like it's it's [TS]

01:15:01   it's not going to have the same impact [TS]

01:15:03   than anybody who didn't grow up with [TS]

01:15:04   these characters because you're seeing [TS]

01:15:07   them that was like 30 years later and [TS]

01:15:09   it's 30 years later for you to I don't [TS]

01:15:11   know I'm getting the number of years [TS]

01:15:12   right but it's just it's old han solo [TS]

01:15:15   but you when you look at him it's kind [TS]

01:15:16   of like an old married couple when they [TS]

01:15:17   look at each other so they see each [TS]

01:15:18   other as they were on their wedding day [TS]

01:15:19   I see Han Solo as he always was and that [TS]

01:15:23   for a second i see Han Solo is he [TS]

01:15:24   actually is and then [TS]

01:15:25   he was then as he is and the voice and [TS]

01:15:28   am just saying the word Chewie Chewie [TS]

01:15:29   growling it's surprising emotional [TS]

01:15:33   impact which probably makes no sense to [TS]

01:15:35   anybody because it's not but not on the [TS]

01:15:37   page is not in the film it is entirely [TS]

01:15:39   historical context but these these are [TS]

01:15:41   these are pivotal characters that were a [TS]

01:15:45   huge part of some many of our childhood [TS]

01:15:47   and we haven't seen them if you if you [TS]

01:15:51   were old enough to watch the movies when [TS]

01:15:53   they came out we haven't seen them for [TS]

01:15:55   32 years we haven't seen anything from [TS]

01:15:59   han Solo and Chewbacca well yeah okay [TS]

01:16:02   because anything from Chewbacca right [TS]

01:16:03   we're all agreed on that [TS]

01:16:04   nope well I don't consider prequels even [TS]

01:16:08   if we consider the prequels to have [TS]

01:16:09   existed but he's nothing to you [TS]

01:16:11   he looks the same it doesn't have the [TS]

01:16:13   impact and because he doesn't have a [TS]

01:16:15   human emotive face like he's got a [TS]

01:16:17   motive body gestures but that is a [TS]

01:16:19   facial prosthetic you haven't actually [TS]

01:16:20   his his his dialogue is actually the [TS]

01:16:23   thing that really got me is when he says [TS]

01:16:25   the hot it doesn't end on hon saying [TS]

01:16:27   we're home and ends on Chewie going [TS]

01:16:28   yeah well it's really it's too easy [TS]

01:16:32   relationship with on always made to eat [TS]

01:16:35   interesting right situation with a bunch [TS]

01:16:37   of rookies and he's just a Wookiee [TS]

01:16:38   you've got to eat with the characters [TS]

01:16:41   and he's you know if the same reason why [TS]

01:16:44   are two working off the characters makes [TS]

01:16:46   our to a better up a better droid more [TS]

01:16:49   interesting on screen is that these if [TS]

01:16:52   these people working together and the [TS]

01:16:53   longstanding friendship that you got to [TS]

01:16:55   see resonating off-screen took the words [TS]

01:16:58   right I'm gonna yeah and these two [TS]

01:17:00   together because chewy looks the same [TS]

01:17:02   but Han doesn't like that's that's going [TS]

01:17:05   to be a big part of how they play in [TS]

01:17:06   this movie because it's like hey it's [TS]

01:17:08   the Millennium Falcon looking more or [TS]

01:17:09   less like it always did hate jewy-lookin [TS]

01:17:11   more or less like it always did but Han [TS]

01:17:12   is not looking more or less likely [TS]

01:17:13   always it but he's back in those places [TS]

01:17:14   with those people and everything is a [TS]

01:17:16   little bit more rundown but you kind of [TS]

01:17:18   look the same but the Falcon is the same [TS]

01:17:20   and like I don't know that fuckin in [TS]

01:17:22   that last shot looks pretty beat up [TS]

01:17:23   interior always did always looking only [TS]

01:17:25   have been even more so even more so [TS]

01:17:27   well the india the interior looks like a [TS]

01:17:29   nice and easy could use a good scrubbing [TS]

01:17:31   like that's kind of messed up like it [TS]

01:17:33   i am looking forward to the scene where [TS]

01:17:34   they pull the sheet off the money in [TS]

01:17:36   pocket [TS]

01:17:37   yeah that's a big sure yeah so for all [TS]

01:17:39   the but like for all the emotional [TS]

01:17:41   impact of the scene and like it i don't [TS]

01:17:44   know if any part of this movie will have [TS]

01:17:45   the impact that just seeing this one [TS]

01:17:47   scene did because it was just such a [TS]

01:17:48   shock to my system to see those [TS]

01:17:49   characters and just like I don't know I [TS]

01:17:52   don't know how to articulate why it is [TS]

01:17:54   that like like i said i watch it at work [TS]

01:17:56   and I was tearing up right [TS]

01:17:57   I watched like five more times the same [TS]

01:17:58   thing happens like magic isn't that [TS]

01:18:00   doesn't make any sense it's like you [TS]

01:18:02   know it's coming [TS]

01:18:03   what's the big deal and it's like your [TS]

01:18:05   body's like nope this is happening just [TS]

01:18:06   deal with it [TS]

01:18:07   him and so the the danger if that is [TS]

01:18:10   that like okay you know you can do that [TS]

01:18:12   in a trailer trailers are relatively [TS]

01:18:14   easy they're short or whatever it's some [TS]

01:18:16   point you have to make a movie and the [TS]

01:18:18   danger is that in the movie they give on [TS]

01:18:23   stupid things to say he does stupid [TS]

01:18:26   things he does things that we think are [TS]

01:18:27   not in keeping with his character that [TS]

01:18:29   the actor isn't up to the role anymore [TS]

01:18:31   so many things can go wrong with older [TS]

01:18:33   actors reprising the role after this [TS]

01:18:35   many years under new leadership like I'm [TS]

01:18:37   fearful like how how terrible but I fear [TS]

01:18:40   it would i feel if i kind of like how we [TS]

01:18:43   talk about how we felt about episode 3 [TS]

01:18:45   did terrible things to the character we [TS]

01:18:47   thought of as darth vader and he's not [TS]

01:18:48   even like our favor but he's the villain [TS]

01:18:49   rooting against him [TS]

01:18:51   terrible things can happen to our [TS]

01:18:52   beloved characters in these movies and [TS]

01:18:54   that danger is there John [TS]

01:18:57   it can't be worse than crystal skull [TS]

01:18:59   that's true but like somehow at that [TS]

01:19:01   bothered me less mostly because Temple [TS]

01:19:04   of Doom is kind of iffy to and like I [TS]

01:19:07   don't I care about so much more about [TS]

01:19:08   these like I feel like I had three solid [TS]

01:19:10   movies where they did not set foot [TS]

01:19:12   particularly wrong with their core [TS]

01:19:14   characters and these actors are older [TS]

01:19:16   and like we were giving a lot like it [TS]

01:19:18   basically what now realizing is that [TS]

01:19:19   these people are holding our little you [TS]

01:19:22   know emotional babies like they have [TS]

01:19:23   they have our babies right [TS]

01:19:25   they have all these characters that we [TS]

01:19:26   love in a way that the prequels did not [TS]

01:19:29   you know what I mean and it's like like [TS]

01:19:32   just like don't mess this up please [TS]

01:19:35   especially there's a lot of things I've [TS]

01:19:36   seen Harrison Ford and recently [TS]

01:19:38   not that I'm saying like he has a point [TS]

01:19:41   for this who said this gene hackman [TS]

01:19:44   maybe he was saying that when you reach [TS]

01:19:45   a certain a [TS]

01:19:46   age you you know it's only asking like [TS]

01:19:50   how do you how do you act with such [TS]

01:19:53   gravitas how do you become such a good [TS]

01:19:55   actor and says you read reach a certain [TS]

01:19:57   age that you just end up having a [TS]

01:19:59   certain kind of poise that the rest of [TS]

01:20:01   the world reads as confidence and good [TS]

01:20:03   acting but really what it is is just [TS]

01:20:04   like learning to settle down right and [TS]

01:20:07   Harrison Ford has that as well to the [TS]

01:20:10   degree that sometimes in his later [TS]

01:20:11   movies you kind of felt like he was not [TS]

01:20:15   into it [TS]

01:20:15   collecting a paycheck phoning it in not [TS]

01:20:18   terribly but just kind of like that he [TS]

01:20:20   had settled he had that poise so much [TS]

01:20:22   that he poisoned himself right into a [TS]

01:20:24   nap while and he always seemed flaky you [TS]

01:20:27   know it's tough because you also have to [TS]

01:20:29   take a look like his public persona sort [TS]

01:20:31   of with a grain of salt which is that he [TS]

01:20:32   never really enjoys talking about Star [TS]

01:20:34   Wars and he doesn't enjoy doing [TS]

01:20:36   publicity in general and he seems to [TS]

01:20:38   have gotten very cranky and so like it [TS]

01:20:40   you know being exposed to that it's [TS]

01:20:42   sometimes hard to be like okay is he [TS]

01:20:43   actually having a good time here or is [TS]

01:20:45   this just like you know an attempt at [TS]

01:20:47   acting [TS]

01:20:48   well I can hear those Expendables movies [TS]

01:20:50   and stuff like that which I've never [TS]

01:20:51   seen and I'm assuming you're terrible [TS]

01:20:53   and it's like he's not doing that for [TS]

01:20:55   the love of the movies doing it for a [TS]

01:20:56   quick paycheck is an easy job right and [TS]

01:20:58   like you want to believe that this is [TS]

01:21:00   different that he's not going to be that [TS]

01:21:02   actor in this movie [TS]

01:21:03   well I have things that give me high [TS]

01:21:05   help and one of those was despite how [TS]

01:21:09   terrible in ender's game was a movie I [TS]

01:21:11   actually thought that his performance in [TS]

01:21:13   there was was amazing i agree with that [TS]

01:21:16   that is a highlight recently it's a good [TS]

01:21:18   performance I like that I like that [TS]

01:21:19   movie actually quite a bit but it's it [TS]

01:21:22   he's good in it and i noticed him being [TS]

01:21:24   good in it [TS]

01:21:25   yes at the very least he sure as hell [TS]

01:21:26   not phoning it in no the other thing is [TS]

01:21:29   that he's smiling in this trailer [TS]

01:21:32   yeah and I don't think I like you think [TS]

01:21:35   about parrots you think about Han Solo [TS]

01:21:37   smiling and you think about the schedule [TS]

01:21:40   right you think about the like it's the [TS]

01:21:42   slight twinkle in the eye and he has a [TS]

01:21:44   little twinkle in design [TS]

01:21:46   he's got it he's got it yep there that's [TS]

01:21:49   a lens where ya if you if you [TS]

01:21:52   there's also a blink and you miss it [TS]

01:21:53   like he nods kind of at the camera just [TS]

01:21:56   before it fades to black which is also [TS]

01:21:58   kind of like this like this store [TS]

01:22:00   about self-assurance there the cockiness [TS]

01:22:02   so as a little bit in the Indiana Jones [TS]

01:22:04   not do and I had as a kid indiana jones [TS]

01:22:06   and Han Solo blended in my mind such a [TS]

01:22:08   degree that they might as well have been [TS]

01:22:09   the same character just in different [TS]

01:22:11   timelines like Harrison Ford Harrison [TS]

01:22:13   Ford was essentially get a character of [TS]

01:22:14   my childhood playing those two roles [TS]

01:22:16   which had a hell of a lot of similarity [TS]

01:22:18   one like you know more mature and [TS]

01:22:21   sophisticated that would be India [TS]

01:22:22   because he did things that were kind of [TS]

01:22:23   more adult than han solo but still a [TS]

01:22:25   continuum of of scoundrels getting [TS]

01:22:28   themselves out of scrapes you know so i [TS]

01:22:30   think i think you're Harrison forward to [TS]

01:22:32   at this age and and that this is the [TS]

01:22:36   difference between him when he was doing [TS]

01:22:37   the first set of Indiana Jones movies [TS]

01:22:38   and Star Wars trilogy then he's like [TS]

01:22:43   look I'm a working actor I've got a long [TS]

01:22:45   career ahead of me I don't want to get [TS]

01:22:46   asked about Han Solo in Indiana Jones [TS]

01:22:48   all the time i got other movies have you [TS]

01:22:49   seen the fugitive have you seen here for [TS]

01:22:52   school having that [TS]

01:22:53   yeah whenever Jack write a few of the [TS]

01:22:54   jack ryan movies yeah exactly so now now [TS]

01:22:57   look you're Harrison Ford and you're [TS]

01:23:00   getting toward the end of your career [TS]

01:23:01   and you know that when you die [TS]

01:23:05   people are going to say han Solo in [TS]

01:23:07   indiana jones i am Spock movie huh yeah [TS]

01:23:09   so I feel I feel like he reached a point [TS]

01:23:12   with the Indiana Jones movies and Star [TS]

01:23:14   Wars was like sure you know like I like [TS]

01:23:16   embraced embraced being in them now [TS]

01:23:18   because he knows he's not he's never [TS]

01:23:20   gonna run npm that people love him he's [TS]

01:23:23   never gonna run away from it and people [TS]

01:23:24   loved him for having those parts so you [TS]

01:23:26   might as well just kind of go with it [TS]

01:23:28   and and so I I'm encouraged by that I do [TS]

01:23:30   however here's my theory because it is [TS]

01:23:33   you know [TS]

01:23:34   Chewie we're home and they've got their [TS]

01:23:36   guns out i assume the next shot is an [TS]

01:23:38   over-the-shoulder shot reverse angle of [TS]

01:23:41   Lando wearing like his underpants and [TS]

01:23:44   newspaper be like oh geez i was gonna [TS]

01:23:46   give it back to you still wearing his [TS]

01:23:47   vest and the fact that I was hoping that [TS]

01:23:50   the Chewie we're home is kind of like [TS]

01:23:51   more like a honey we're home thing chewy [TS]

01:23:53   likely looking at this is like them [TS]

01:23:57   rediscovering the Falcon and you know [TS]

01:23:59   coming onboard think that with their [TS]

01:24:02   guns out so they thought maybe they'd [TS]

01:24:03   have to take the ship or you know they [TS]

01:24:05   didn't know who would be there but they [TS]

01:24:06   come in their home i think that the [TS]

01:24:08   hardening thing here is also you know we [TS]

01:24:10   don't know what the status of SE han and [TS]

01:24:12   leia's relationship [TS]

01:24:14   over the last 30 years they could be [TS]

01:24:15   together they could not be together [TS]

01:24:17   you think if they were together as [TS]

01:24:18   clothes would be a little bit [TS]

01:24:20   nice-looking she would not want to be [TS]

01:24:21   seen with that kind of a scoundrel I [TS]

01:24:23   have some standards get yourself [TS]

01:24:24   together i'm gonna princess [TS]

01:24:26   despite that the reassurance that Han [TS]

01:24:28   and Chewie are still together after 30 [TS]

01:24:30   years are gonna be really married couple [TS]

01:24:32   right exactly so that I think that it's [TS]

01:24:34   it's comforting jazz we were talking [TS]

01:24:36   about earlier in terms of relating it to [TS]

01:24:38   where we left these characters is [TS]

01:24:39   comforting to know that certain things [TS]

01:24:41   are constant yeah yeah let's kick them [TS]

01:24:43   out but you know she was always with her [TS]

01:24:45   like analysis to heresy didn't recliners [TS]

01:24:49   smoking cigars yep me and with them [TS]

01:24:51   saying their home it's like well that [TS]

01:24:52   where have you been before out that [TS]

01:24:54   you're not home that you know it's been [TS]

01:24:56   a long stretch here and during the [TS]

01:24:58   entire time you weren't home or you [TS]

01:25:00   weren't on the falken I mean what have [TS]

01:25:01   you been doing what you been up to what [TS]

01:25:04   you're playing golf [TS]

01:25:05   december that's the last that's the last [TS]

01:25:09   thing December in 3d mug [TS]

01:25:12   yeah i saw that 3d and imax and like boy [TS]

01:25:15   just whatever I wonder if they shot in [TS]

01:25:17   3d or if it was like like star trek into [TS]

01:25:20   darkness where they did a conversion [TS]

01:25:22   after the fact i hope it's going to be [TS]

01:25:25   found in 3d that it was shot in and not [TS]

01:25:28   i don't know JJ Abrams I think likes to [TS]

01:25:30   likes to shoot it [TS]

01:25:31   I don't think he accidentally it's a [TS]

01:25:34   much more complicated rig to do a 3d [TS]

01:25:36   shoot versus just doing a a a UH 3d [TS]

01:25:39   conversion of 3d at this point feels [TS]

01:25:41   like something with studios make you do [TS]

01:25:42   to you every movie especially tentpole [TS]

01:25:45   movie but it's like whatever the effects [TS]

01:25:48   will be really effective III all 3d [TS]

01:25:50   because those can be rendered with two [TS]

01:25:51   cameras but the actual live action [TS]

01:25:53   shooting if it's just shot with a [TS]

01:25:54   single-camera they will do their [TS]

01:25:56   conversion thing which is kind of lame [TS]

01:25:58   so you know chaverim says they shot it [TS]

01:26:00   in imax obviously there are advertising [TS]

01:26:01   3d and imax so I max just that the is [TS]

01:26:05   the film format and the aspect ratio or [TS]

01:26:07   just one of the other choices they shot [TS]

01:26:08   on 35's close to the stock is the [TS]

01:26:11   original trilogy as possible which i [TS]

01:26:13   think i cry [TS]

01:26:14   yeah i'm not sure if they shot on my [TS]

01:26:16   next time next time he might have shot [TS]

01:26:17   some scenes on imax I doubt they shot [TS]

01:26:19   the whole thing I mean they advertise on [TS]

01:26:21   exit the end of the trailer so yeah but [TS]

01:26:22   they're went to movies the first are not [TS]

01:26:24   shot on imax that are shown on [TS]

01:26:26   max right but sometimes you do the thing [TS]

01:26:28   where it's like well we can start on a [TS]

01:26:29   regular screen but if you want an imax [TS]

01:26:31   for particular scenes we change the [TS]

01:26:33   operating yeah films partially in imax [TS]

01:26:36   unknown how much is what I see here so I [TS]

01:26:39   don't know there is one end is what [TS]

01:26:40   Christopher Nolan with the dark knight [TS]

01:26:42   movies he shot some scenes in imax and [TS]

01:26:45   then the rest we were in 35 millimeter [TS]

01:26:47   seems possible you would want to shoot [TS]

01:26:49   this entire movie in imax I feel like [TS]

01:26:50   it's kind of a bear i was gonna say [TS]

01:26:52   before we finish music we should discuss [TS]

01:26:53   yes which is to say though we get some [TS]

01:26:56   very familiar themes here in some places [TS]

01:26:58   the opening sounds very much like some [TS]

01:27:00   of the cloud city music from Empire i'm [TS]

01:27:02   going to say that this is pretty as with [TS]

01:27:05   the first trailer business probably [TS]

01:27:06   brand-new John Williams music [TS]

01:27:07   deliberately designed for it maybe the [TS]

01:27:10   trailer or maybe it's cut from the film [TS]

01:27:11   at large but i guess at this point it's [TS]

01:27:13   probably still deliberately composed for [TS]

01:27:15   the trailer but we get you know a lot [TS]

01:27:17   more you know the recognizable the force [TS]

01:27:19   team at the beginning there which is a [TS]

01:27:21   really nice touch but say it you know [TS]

01:27:23   fades off and it transitions into a [TS]

01:27:25   different sort of music then we heard [TS]

01:27:26   really anyplace else before so and I you [TS]

01:27:29   know obviously harkening back to the [TS]

01:27:31   original themes is awesome it's but it's [TS]

01:27:33   super exciting to hear brand-new John [TS]

01:27:36   Williams Star Wars music which i think [TS]

01:27:38   we as we many of us agreed was the best [TS]

01:27:41   part of the prequels and they do a good [TS]

01:27:42   job in this trailer like they know they [TS]

01:27:45   have a few certain emotional cues that [TS]

01:27:48   we all know from the classic themes and [TS]

01:27:49   him Jam a lot of them into one trailer [TS]

01:27:51   with transitions between them that they [TS]

01:27:53   go smooth with that middle section that [TS]

01:27:55   has the the new music the sort of the [TS]

01:27:56   new scary bad things are happening theme [TS]

01:27:59   transitioning smoothly into the other [TS]

01:28:01   things that we know it's really good I [TS]

01:28:04   can't wait to hear more John Williams [TS]

01:28:05   start with music and i will not read the [TS]

01:28:06   track listings but I don't do that and [TS]

01:28:09   and i know i know this is a common a [TS]

01:28:11   common thing to do with teaser trailers [TS]

01:28:14   in particular and now we seem two of [TS]

01:28:16   these nothing on it and because we've [TS]

01:28:18   gone through this is frame by frame it [TS]

01:28:20   brings it to the for all the more a [TS]

01:28:22   large percentage of both of these [TS]

01:28:24   teasers are black screens [TS]

01:28:26   yep right because they just do not want [TS]

01:28:28   to show you anything and they want the [TS]

01:28:30   trailer to betray length but it's like [TS]

01:28:32   how few frames of actual movie can we [TS]

01:28:33   get a trailer and still have betrayal [TS]

01:28:35   they do have music to fill in the gaps [TS]

01:28:37   or whatever it's like okay you get seven [TS]

01:28:39   frames of a draw [TS]

01:28:39   three frames of the other guy walking [TS]

01:28:41   with the nice like well I don't know you [TS]

01:28:43   know JJ Abrams I think I said he really [TS]

01:28:45   wants to maintain as much secrecy as [TS]

01:28:47   possible which he did it also during the [TS]

01:28:49   panel today trying to like you know [TS]

01:28:50   keeping a tight rein on what people [TS]

01:28:51   could say the advantage of Star Wars is [TS]

01:28:54   that you can rely on music I think [TS]

01:28:55   there's a lot of a lot of trailers to [TS]

01:28:58   movies that you have to rely on like pop [TS]

01:29:00   music or something right because the [TS]

01:29:01   scores don't often carry an entire [TS]

01:29:04   trailer and we are very dialogue light [TS]

01:29:06   we have besides Luke's voiceover we have [TS]

01:29:09   only the hands 0 line so in and that's [TS]

01:29:12   kind of once again very close to what we [TS]

01:29:14   had in the first trailer so we've heard [TS]

01:29:16   next to nothing of dialogue from this [TS]

01:29:18   movie so far and that was a that was [TS]

01:29:20   also a tool employed by the prequels [TS]

01:29:22   where yes the trailers had very little [TS]

01:29:25   dialogue because if we had heard any a [TS]

01:29:27   question that we have seen what we were [TS]

01:29:28   in for they have you know lots of [TS]

01:29:31   reaction shots lots of landscapes lots [TS]

01:29:33   of ships and stuff some lightsabers [TS]

01:29:36   clashing one or two small lines that are [TS]

01:29:38   so small as to be completely innocuous [TS]

01:29:40   and was like boy this movie looks great [TS]

01:29:42   and but this this is doing the same [TS]

01:29:44   thing obviously we expect the results to [TS]

01:29:46   be very different in this case but you [TS]

01:29:47   know being at the theme is a that is [TS]

01:29:50   using the same tools employed and and at [TS]

01:29:52   the music in that the scary music middle [TS]

01:29:54   part that transitions to the I don't [TS]

01:29:56   know damn well know that the track for [TS]

01:29:58   the the final bit that's like the pre [TS]

01:30:01   credits music and some of the movies [TS]

01:30:02   there is a middle theme there that I [TS]

01:30:06   know it's you know it's Williams and not [TS]

01:30:08   you know who put it the key no one's [TS]

01:30:12   yeah you can imagine what it's got some [TS]

01:30:14   notes in it where it's building up to [TS]

01:30:16   that final theme that that is that is [TS]

01:30:18   the first bits that I've heard that [TS]

01:30:20   could stand out to me as the signature [TS]

01:30:22   sort of little musical motif of this [TS]

01:30:25   movie different from any of the older [TS]

01:30:29   movies as well there's a little section [TS]

01:30:30   in the middle there right be right [TS]

01:30:31   before the BBA pokes his head out [TS]

01:30:34   we're transitions into the the more [TS]

01:30:35   familiar music that middle section like [TS]

01:30:37   when they're they're making the escape [TS]

01:30:39   and the we assume in the TIE fighter in [TS]

01:30:41   the hangar bay that little music there I [TS]

01:30:43   can see as being sort of a core theme [TS]

01:30:45   for this movie we'll see what would [TS]

01:30:48   that's my question about it like when [TS]

01:30:49   they have a dramatic scene or something [TS]

01:30:51   happening [TS]

01:30:51   will they have there [TS]

01:30:53   own equivalents of the themes that we [TS]

01:30:54   know or will they go back to the themes [TS]

01:30:56   that we know and lean on them for the [TS]

01:30:58   dramatic moments I think we'll have a [TS]

01:30:59   little of both if the prequels are any [TS]

01:31:01   indication because the prequel did a [TS]

01:31:02   good job but I'll hardly ever say that [TS]

01:31:05   the people music did a good job of [TS]

01:31:07   actually creating new things it and [TS]

01:31:09   mashing them with the themes that we [TS]

01:31:11   already knew but establishing motifs [TS]

01:31:13   that carried over the course of three [TS]

01:31:15   movies so I think I wouldn't you know I [TS]

01:31:18   think we'll see a mix of it and I i [TS]

01:31:20   think we'll probably see the main theme [TS]

01:31:22   obviously is a big part of the force [TS]

01:31:23   that was a big part of it but i wouldn't [TS]

01:31:24   be surprised if vampires got a whole new [TS]

01:31:26   team to go with their new branding and [TS]

01:31:30   there's only they did have a whole logo [TS]

01:31:31   redesign and out yeah exactly so you get [TS]

01:31:34   Yuki music find a theme music while [TS]

01:31:36   you're spending the money know it but [TS]

01:31:37   you gotta go to the people it's like [TS]

01:31:38   look we know it's gonna be hard to top [TS]

01:31:40   the imperial march but we have a lot of [TS]

01:31:41   money so do what you can [TS]

01:31:44   yeah I'd like that's not a question [TS]

01:31:45   about this movie is and another thing [TS]

01:31:47   that didn't feel as Star Wars movies [TS]

01:31:48   again watching the original movies you [TS]

01:31:50   just realize how those movies are [TS]

01:31:52   practically music videos just constantly [TS]

01:31:54   music big music big music that is like [TS]

01:31:57   you know that those things where you [TS]

01:31:58   watch stars without the music and like [TS]

01:32:00   it just seems like it it's like 18 of [TS]

01:32:03   the movie that it was like that the [TS]

01:32:05   music is so dominant in in a way that is [TS]

01:32:08   not in modern movies and modern movies [TS]

01:32:09   yeah there's tons of sections that have [TS]

01:32:11   no music sometimes it's barely any music [TS]

01:32:13   at all or if there is just like [TS]

01:32:14   percussion or like it just the Star Wars [TS]

01:32:17   movies just constantly music in anything [TS]

01:32:19   with any kind of like the music is half [TS]

01:32:21   of the movie and that is not the style [TS]

01:32:24   of for example the JJ from Star Trek is [TS]

01:32:26   that's not a star trek shot when you [TS]

01:32:27   just star wars movie I think the thing [TS]

01:32:29   that they have this great music we hear [TS]

01:32:31   enough of it in the trailer they need to [TS]

01:32:33   just lay that under just everything you [TS]

01:32:35   know every everything that you would [TS]

01:32:36   expect that music needs to be there and [TS]

01:32:38   the music needs to be as big an actor in [TS]

01:32:41   the movie as it was in the original [TS]

01:32:42   trilogy because it get like watch you [TS]

01:32:45   know the asteroid chasing an empire with [TS]

01:32:47   no music you're like now it's just a [TS]

01:32:49   bunch of potatoes on strings again [TS]

01:32:50   no it is it is not the same scene so I'm [TS]

01:32:53   looking forward to that i really hope [TS]

01:32:55   that the music is really just under [TS]

01:32:57   everything in this movie I wanted to be [TS]

01:32:59   like a big glorious music video in space [TS]

01:33:02   yay [TS]

01:33:03   yeah well okay there you go everybody 90 [TS]

01:33:07   minutes talking about one minute and 42 [TS]

01:33:10   seconds of trailer for this last final [TS]

01:33:13   podcast is going to be a long 1i I've [TS]

01:33:15   said it before I'll say it again i think [TS]

01:33:17   in december the incomparable is just [TS]

01:33:19   going to start a telephone where we [TS]

01:33:20   broadcast spots about Star Wars [TS]

01:33:22   throughout their yeah for like two weeks [TS]

01:33:25   straight without a break just endless [TS]

01:33:28   aspects of Star Wars maybe we'll start a [TS]

01:33:31   spin-off podcast for those two weeks [TS]

01:33:33   where it's just all star wars all the [TS]

01:33:34   time I don't know how we're going to [TS]

01:33:36   deal with it i'm kinda just not even [TS]

01:33:38   worried about it right now if you can [TS]

01:33:39   get a screeners then we go through them [TS]

01:33:41   frame by frame because we're going to [TS]

01:33:42   dinner theater multiple times but they [TS]

01:33:44   were just going to be going based on our [TS]

01:33:45   memories would really be helpful if we [TS]

01:33:47   go to the movie frame at a time [TS]

01:33:49   yeah that we can do that we can do the [TS]

01:33:50   star wars minute that's exactly although [TS]

01:33:53   it this radar minutes into it would be [TS]

01:33:55   90 minutes each [TS]

01:33:56   oh yeah well that that's like how the [TS]

01:33:58   flophouse does a bad movie and they're [TS]

01:33:59   done in 40 minutes with all the whole [TS]

01:34:01   bunch of extra stuff we do a bad movie [TS]

01:34:02   and it's two hours long [TS]

01:34:03   no because austere yeah we're exhausting [TS]

01:34:07   being an exhaustive and everything else [TS]

01:34:09   alright but we've done it we've broken [TS]

01:34:11   it down i'm very excited about this [TS]

01:34:13   everybody always says oh well you know [TS]
