320: The Power! The Power! The Power!

00:00:00   it's not brain science its rocket [TS]

00:00:02   surgery this is Frankenstein islands [TS]

00:00:06   have to be confused with doctor Frank [TS]

00:00:08   it's done Frankenstein's monster it's [TS]

00:00:10   not a Frankenstein's monsters island its [TS]

00:00:13   Frankenstein's island the incomparable [TS]

00:00:18   number 320 October 2016 the power the [TS]

00:00:24   power the power you see Frankenstein was [TS]

00:00:28   on a three-hour to my god no no it's [TS]

00:00:31   it's not even Frankenstein's island it's [TS]

00:00:33   just Frankenstein Frankenstein island it [TS]

00:00:36   is your island died at some point which [TS]

00:00:38   brought back to life [TS]

00:00:39   hmm i was actually called Frankenstein [TS]

00:00:41   island before but what's her name ever [TS]

00:00:43   actually moved there it's just a really [TS]

00:00:45   weird noises it's it's nominative [TS]

00:00:47   determinism welcome back to the [TS]

00:00:48   uncomfortable we're doing our thing [TS]

00:00:50   where we watched a terrible movie and [TS]

00:00:51   this time we're watching a terrible [TS]

00:00:52   movie that i selected because this is a [TS]

00:00:54   movie that I've seen many many times it [TS]

00:00:56   is one of my favorite if not my favorite [TS]

00:00:58   bad movie it's 1981 Frankenstein island [TS]

00:01:01   directed by Jerry Warren screenplay by [TS]

00:01:04   the greatest shakalaka tour I think that [TS]

00:01:06   might be Jerry Warren 2i and starring [TS]

00:01:10   nobody except john carradine cameron [TS]

00:01:12   mitchell and it is amazing so joining me [TS]

00:01:15   to talk about one of my very favorite [TS]

00:01:17   terrible movies are these fine people [TS]

00:01:19   all of whom I have committed a crime [TS]

00:01:21   against now because I had them watch [TS]

00:01:23   Frankenstein island Monty Ashley hello [TS]

00:01:24   Jason nice movie you picked Steve what's [TS]

00:01:32   thanks for joining us bill sorry Jason I [TS]

00:01:35   thought my microphone was on but i [TS]

00:01:37   forgot to turn on the power the power [TS]

00:01:39   the power power don't know [TS]

00:01:43   here's somebody who's a power who hasn't [TS]

00:01:45   been programmed we didn't know any [TS]

00:01:47   single wire it's a it's tony similar van [TS]

00:01:49   Helsing but I don't like my married name [TS]

00:01:51   or something nonsensical about that [TS]

00:01:53   don't worry about it [TS]

00:01:54   brian hamilton also apparently watch [TS]

00:01:57   this movie I'm so sorry Brian I must [TS]

00:01:59   nice piece updated from time to time now [TS]

00:02:01   thanks Jason you're welcome haha Oh [TS]

00:02:03   David Laura I can't believe you used [TS]

00:02:07   animal blood [TS]

00:02:08   yeah he is [TS]

00:02:09   no I think you got the wrong movie i got [TS]

00:02:11   the organic and glen III apologize for [TS]

00:02:13   nothing [TS]

00:02:14   Michael and Fleischmann you know i like [TS]

00:02:16   to call this movie fan tas the island [TS]

00:02:18   but a lot of parts of it there there's a [TS]

00:02:20   moment uh somewhere in the in the middle [TS]

00:02:23   of Frankenstein island where it's not [TS]

00:02:25   even early on where it's just all ladies [TS]

00:02:28   in a leopard-skin bikinis that my wife [TS]

00:02:32   who watch this with me said because [TS]

00:02:35   because I we've been married more than [TS]

00:02:36   20 years and I've never subjected her to [TS]

00:02:38   Frankenstein island until now how about [TS]

00:02:40   that i mean that it's over it's all over [TS]

00:02:42   now I'm she says this is so terrible and [TS]

00:02:46   i said i gotta-i gotta admit I think [TS]

00:02:47   this is the best part I think it gets [TS]

00:02:49   much worse and weirder from here and [TS]

00:02:51   then we we kept watching she's like oh [TS]

00:02:53   you're right that was actually the [TS]

00:02:54   golden days because of how many days it [TS]

00:02:56   makes sense of people in leopard skin [TS]

00:02:58   print bikinis dancing and shaking their [TS]

00:03:00   butts but the rest of it not so my lord [TS]

00:03:01   not so much for that part and it was the [TS]

00:03:04   most erotic thing as in many bad movies [TS]

00:03:06   the use of erotic imagery is so lacking [TS]

00:03:09   that your kind of disappointed w like at [TS]

00:03:11   least it's got the girls in bikinis and [TS]

00:03:13   then nothing [TS]

00:03:14   I had a lot of questions but where did [TS]

00:03:15   they get the bikinis are there leopards [TS]

00:03:17   on this island there's a separate cell [TS]

00:03:20   my notes there's a lot of questions [TS]

00:03:21   about the ecology of frankincense island [TS]

00:03:23   because apparently there is leopards a [TS]

00:03:25   lot of leopards well apparently only [TS]

00:03:27   leopards because everything anymore they [TS]

00:03:29   were hunted to extinction by lady who's [TS]

00:03:31   also naked ladies [TS]

00:03:33   they've got coconuts to serve drinks [TS]

00:03:34   they've got drinking coconut selectors [TS]

00:03:37   were all in the alien planet the aliens [TS]

00:03:39   had leopards they killed them all but [TS]

00:03:40   they left the fabric and I wish there [TS]

00:03:42   were more shots of a meeting that was [TS]

00:03:43   the best part of the coconuts come from [TS]

00:03:45   the story of the naked ladies hunting [TS]

00:03:47   the Leopards to extinction is a far more [TS]

00:03:49   interesting movie baby-making half-alien [TS]

00:03:51   ladies on underwear efforts [TS]

00:03:53   yeah okay so uh I I'm gonna let me let [TS]

00:03:56   me summarize the plot as we go i got [TS]

00:03:59   healthy got me when we do i I've seen [TS]

00:04:03   I've seen this movie so many times I [TS]

00:04:04   could tell you by heart probably you [TS]

00:04:07   have it backwards and forwards bad but [TS]

00:04:08   it makes more sense backwards maybe [TS]

00:04:10   somebody else should summarize the block [TS]

00:04:12   test you might be in 2d Jason Jason [TS]

00:04:15   Jason [TS]

00:04:15   you helped tag look it wasn't like this [TS]

00:04:18   when I was in Philadelphia all my arm my [TS]

00:04:22   arm hurts station try to work the hand [TS]

00:04:24   Jason working we're gonna figure can get [TS]

00:04:27   a better back another doctor [TS]

00:04:28   that's the power that paralyzes the r-mo [TS]

00:04:31   know a psychic and inspires every man [TS]

00:04:33   around to reach for your arm and hold it [TS]

00:04:35   while women leopard skin bikini just [TS]

00:04:39   walk away not carrying on all about your [TS]

00:04:41   agony not a little girls they weren't in [TS]

00:04:44   this scene they just realized so Frank's [TS]

00:04:46   island starts with uh no i want lengthy [TS]

00:04:50   crab egomaniac credit sequence all [TS]

00:04:53   featuring hot air balloons so it starts [TS]

00:04:55   with hickson balloons theater [TS]

00:04:57   yeah i'm skipping the balloon hot air [TS]

00:04:59   balloons we spent a long time with hot [TS]

00:05:01   air balloons they are there RCB truckers [TS]

00:05:04   in balloons apparently having a [TS]

00:05:06   conversation explaining the plot of the [TS]

00:05:08   movie which is that there was a bad [TS]

00:05:10   storm and those with that those guys got [TS]

00:05:13   caught up in it and they're either on it [TS]

00:05:15   over it or under it [TS]

00:05:18   now I got twisted 100 degrees Jason I [TS]

00:05:21   got it down and let the ocean the most [TS]

00:05:23   effective rescue vehicle is definitely a [TS]

00:05:25   hot air balloon yeah no I understand why [TS]

00:05:28   these guys are there during the hot [TS]

00:05:29   balloon hot air balloon talking to other [TS]

00:05:31   hot air balloon segment that I wasn't [TS]

00:05:33   fully following their conversation [TS]

00:05:36   bought ramifications yeah either and I [TS]

00:05:38   thought about going back and watching [TS]

00:05:39   that again [TS]

00:05:40   no and I didn't know maybe that maybe [TS]

00:05:44   the rest of the movie is my fault [TS]

00:05:45   because this way before you get the plot [TS]

00:05:47   i want to point one thing out though [TS]

00:05:49   yes important was this movie actually [TS]

00:05:51   made an ICD 10 or 12 made long before [TS]

00:05:54   and then he released it later because [TS]

00:05:56   this is the best yeah rendition of a [TS]

00:05:59   movie from like 20 years before oh I [TS]

00:06:01   don't the fact that it's sean color film [TS]

00:06:03   alone i think it's very definitely a [TS]

00:06:05   movie that was made in the seventies or [TS]

00:06:06   I essentially the early eighties are [TS]

00:06:08   felt like the seventies too so I i think [TS]

00:06:10   it's probably was shot in 79 80 [TS]

00:06:12   something like that it's not a bottle an [TS]

00:06:14   artist suggest a late seventies yeah [TS]

00:06:17   yeah that's pretty well as by 1981 case [TS]

00:06:21   I didn't think you could make movies [TS]

00:06:22   like this in 1981 [TS]

00:06:24   amazing i love the balloons because we [TS]

00:06:26   never got any close-ups of anyone who [TS]

00:06:28   might be talking it was just [TS]

00:06:29   nope started children lunes absolutely [TS]

00:06:32   there's a great shot where they where [TS]

00:06:33   they start with the ocean and pan up to [TS]

00:06:35   a balloon you like are we done with the [TS]

00:06:36   balloons now know there's more balloons [TS]

00:06:38   you look at me sad the balloons one way [TS]

00:06:40   but then there was one paper bag but I [TS]

00:06:41   waited the whole movie to find out where [TS]

00:06:43   did they shoot this was it New Mexico or [TS]

00:06:45   Arizona and maja and southern california [TS]

00:06:50   and some caves come back here and the [TS]

00:06:52   cave was in Arizona that he was in [TS]

00:06:54   tucson arizona apparently right but it's [TS]

00:06:56   it's definitely for an island [TS]

00:06:58   it has a very suspiciously Southern [TS]

00:07:00   California climate and you know what [TS]

00:07:01   you're in for when they didn't even [TS]

00:07:03   bother with a single insert shot to show [TS]

00:07:05   somebody looking at standing and some [TS]

00:07:06   sort of a basket to indicate that there [TS]

00:07:08   were no balloon it's just stock footage [TS]

00:07:10   yeah we couldn't be bothered I don't [TS]

00:07:12   even think its stock footage I think [TS]

00:07:13   it's just the director happened to go to [TS]

00:07:15   the hot air festival a couple years [TS]

00:07:17   earlier was like where this gets my guys [TS]

00:07:19   on a beach [TS]

00:07:20   yeah you go yeah yeah I got some stock [TS]

00:07:22   footage i can use all right so here's a [TS]

00:07:25   shot of the ocean now I've set the place [TS]

00:07:27   so the video we learned that these guys [TS]

00:07:29   have had a balloon crash and that the [TS]

00:07:32   end there are all the credits and then [TS]

00:07:34   we finally get to begin our movie where [TS]

00:07:36   our foreign for heroes / main characters [TS]

00:07:40   are washed ashore on their inflatable [TS]

00:07:42   raft they the raft is already fairly [TS]

00:07:44   high up on the beach and yet they seem [TS]

00:07:46   to just be getting out of it i don't [TS]

00:07:48   know how it got there should also be [TS]

00:07:49   noted that there 100-percent drivers [TS]

00:07:52   quite falling into the oj and I'll [TS]

00:07:54   sailing in on around having a having a [TS]

00:07:55   balloon accident yes it is important to [TS]

00:07:57   note that the raft that they've got [TS]

00:07:58   that's a pretty great looking it is [TS]

00:08:00   incredibly substantial solid draft that [TS]

00:08:02   they throw away immediately and then [TS]

00:08:04   spend the rest of the movie station we [TS]

00:08:06   should really want it [TS]

00:08:09   while they're holding the rafters yeah [TS]

00:08:11   some logs and trying to find some dry [TS]

00:08:13   wood maybe we could build maybe we can [TS]

00:08:15   go to rally leaving on a perfectly [TS]

00:08:17   functional right yeah it's clearly still [TS]

00:08:19   inflated that he throws down disgustedly [TS]

00:08:22   as it is stupid rapid saved my life [TS]

00:08:24   it sickened me it's a single-use raft [TS]

00:08:27   they never explain the fact that maybe [TS]

00:08:28   the raft is damaged somehow but even if [TS]

00:08:30   it was you know it's easier to get the [TS]

00:08:31   dry wood tape get some freakin tape and [TS]

00:08:34   fix it I'll never even say that nope no [TS]

00:08:36   and now that raft is perfectly good it's [TS]

00:08:38   completely inflated guys I think you're [TS]

00:08:40   overlooking the amount of wilderness [TS]

00:08:41   survival skills that this movie teaches [TS]

00:08:43   you you can only use a raft once ya [TS]

00:08:46   itself every single use rest it's [TS]

00:08:48   totally serious rap [TS]

00:08:49   yep i didn't even bother to modestly [TS]

00:08:51   deflate the raft just been a hair to [TS]

00:08:54   make it look like something was wrong [TS]

00:08:56   with the radio seamless wilderness [TS]

00:08:57   survival tip number two don't overexert [TS]

00:09:00   yourself trying to deeply a raft that's [TS]

00:09:01   garbage [TS]

00:09:02   why did they inflate it they were didn't [TS]

00:09:04   use it in the movie [TS]

00:09:06   somebody had to blow that thing up just [TS]

00:09:08   for that you're gonna see where they [TS]

00:09:09   stand on me on high up on the sand as if [TS]

00:09:13   they've just gotten out of it yeah [TS]

00:09:14   wilderness survival tip 3 you're allowed [TS]

00:09:17   to burn my raft but you can't get it wet [TS]

00:09:19   yeah that's that maybe that maybe they [TS]

00:09:22   had to return it to the store so they [TS]

00:09:24   didn't want to get it didn't want to get [TS]

00:09:25   too wet [TS]

00:09:26   Steve you overlooked a very important [TS]

00:09:28   for part of the storyline I did which is [TS]

00:09:31   the dog [TS]

00:09:32   Melvin the dog pees on the seaweed at [TS]

00:09:34   one point does to see that isn't waiting [TS]

00:09:35   for let's be significant I was where you [TS]

00:09:37   know anyway it's it's chickens p [TS]

00:09:39   yeah it's indicated a significant by the [TS]

00:09:41   soundtrack which goes where my work well [TS]

00:09:44   when he gets on the senior always [TS]

00:09:46   encouraged here [TS]

00:09:47   yeah I love them all yyyy you know for [TS]

00:09:51   dorks in a dog wash away wash up outta [TS]

00:09:54   me [TS]

00:09:54   I'm not a dog person but Melvin delivers [TS]

00:09:56   one of the best performances [TS]

00:09:58   it's gonna open is the best of the best [TS]

00:10:00   actual job in the Soviet far [TS]

00:10:01   Elvis one of the three characters i can [TS]

00:10:04   named Melvin is committed these other [TS]

00:10:06   people just sleepwalking Melvin studied [TS]

00:10:08   with Lee Strasberg so you know second [TS]

00:10:10   only to the Iguana we see later just [TS]

00:10:11   like a komodo dragon that is that is cut [TS]

00:10:14   we cut away to up like a giant iguana or [TS]

00:10:15   a komodo dragon or something that is [TS]

00:10:17   also stock footage and it's like hello [TS]

00:10:19   everybody i'm also in this movie but I'm [TS]

00:10:20   not you'll never see me again but he's [TS]

00:10:22   there to lend a little air of excitement [TS]

00:10:24   we meet our character so so our [TS]

00:10:27   characters are Dino who has a stylish [TS]

00:10:30   kerchief tied around his neck for the [TS]

00:10:32   entire movie night him the most [TS]

00:10:35   really oh yeah there's Paul Hadley but [TS]

00:10:39   we call him doc doc Adly who is dr. he [TS]

00:10:42   and he's a doctor and has a mustache no [TS]

00:10:45   discernible medical skills [TS]

00:10:46   no well he's not that kind of thing on [TS]

00:10:48   medical doctor I think I think you [TS]

00:10:49   always have to look at a hand and say [TS]

00:10:51   you'll be okay it's a page an honorary [TS]

00:10:53   degree [TS]

00:10:53   uh there's mark although I never [TS]

00:10:56   remember his name and I just can i [TS]

00:10:57   just--can beauty [TS]

00:10:58   yeah he will do pretty exactly good [TS]

00:11:01   you're with me don't its B's yeah i know [TS]

00:11:03   my friend said island do you even [TS]

00:11:07   Frankenstein island and there's Curt or [TS]

00:11:09   Curtis whoo-hoo we all I know is the [TS]

00:11:12   curly-haired guy who pretends to be a [TS]

00:11:14   preacher on the beach because it's wacky [TS]

00:11:16   hijinks time and says you are center you [TS]

00:11:18   are a sinner and then we wonder if he's [TS]

00:11:21   the worst enemy and hurts the word [TS]

00:11:22   yesterday because literally they just [TS]

00:11:24   washed up on the beach after surviving a [TS]

00:11:28   balloon rack and he's like this is time [TS]

00:11:29   for my comedy routine and to introduce [TS]

00:11:31   myself to the viewers of the movie [TS]

00:11:33   because you have a necro chief if he [TS]

00:11:34   doesn't he's not the worst [TS]

00:11:36   no Marty Barrett is the worst [TS]

00:11:39   interesting ok for another story these [TS]

00:11:41   four characters Fred Velma Daphne and [TS]

00:11:44   Shaggy because this is more or less what [TS]

00:11:47   that means but military Melvin [TS]

00:11:49   scooby-doo [TS]

00:11:50   that's great heart you broke the code [TS]

00:11:53   oh man big well done Steve well done you [TS]

00:11:55   can work out for yourself which witch is [TS]

00:11:57   which but my thinking is a doc is [TS]

00:12:01   definitely Freddie's the threat of the [TS]

00:12:02   group [TS]

00:12:03   yeah Velma is Mark he's got a lot on the [TS]

00:12:05   ball you know it's tough because the [TS]

00:12:08   Ascot might indicate Daphne but i don't [TS]

00:12:10   think so i think he's more of the shaggy [TS]

00:12:11   because he spent [TS]

00:12:12   more time with Melvin yeah but but the [TS]

00:12:14   comedy guy the hijinks guy that's very [TS]

00:12:16   shank ya don't know I think he's more of [TS]

00:12:18   a Daphne for me [TS]

00:12:20   so as bull where to point out in the [TS]

00:12:21   chat room that makes you scrappy Steve [TS]

00:12:23   well I like to think so are you young [TS]

00:12:25   and hungry as well i was thinking that I [TS]

00:12:27   don't think you can call it in an ascot [TS]

00:12:30   because it really is more like a [TS]

00:12:31   handkerchief thats been tied around his [TS]

00:12:33   neck [TS]

00:12:33   now it's almost like it's pasted there [TS]

00:12:35   it doesn't move neckerchief it is a [TS]

00:12:37   neckerchief that's it was red hold of [TS]

00:12:39   its twists just a little i know bmd know [TS]

00:12:42   but alas so they go up they leave the [TS]

00:12:44   beach because they weren't on the beach [TS]

00:12:46   very long time they only got a couple [TS]

00:12:47   scenes down on the beach and they throw [TS]

00:12:49   relay that has an hour they throw the [TS]

00:12:51   raft away because they're hoping they [TS]

00:12:52   can build around infuriating it doesn't [TS]

00:12:55   fit in the cave they can bring with them [TS]

00:12:56   and they enter a cave and they begin [TS]

00:12:59   their there they're an important track [TS]

00:13:01   in land into Frankenstein island while [TS]

00:13:04   in the cave there's a cutaway of a snake [TS]

00:13:05   again we won't see that snake again but [TS]

00:13:07   it's nice that there's a snake mytouch [TS]

00:13:09   eight years you might it's possible [TS]

00:13:11   there are snakes in this movie it's like [TS]

00:13:12   watching survivor where there will be an [TS]

00:13:14   insurer shot of an animal that you're [TS]

00:13:15   meant to believe could be on the same [TS]

00:13:17   continent as are here [TS]

00:13:18   no you merry gentlemen you have our [TS]

00:13:21   first tyler durden style john carradine [TS]

00:13:23   yes there's a blinking appearance of [TS]

00:13:25   john carradine who is who is his head [TS]

00:13:27   appears kind of floating in the cave [TS]

00:13:29   momentarily and also a cutaway to a [TS]

00:13:32   mysterious blinkin box that is it is [TS]

00:13:36   probably totally important for later [TS]

00:13:38   I thought that was the pain box wasn't [TS]

00:13:39   the pain broadcasting box at its honour [TS]

00:13:42   which ad kit we see that box again later [TS]

00:13:44   but this so you get the sense that ever [TS]

00:13:47   happening here yes in a different place [TS]

00:13:48   just turn up later in a different place [TS]

00:13:50   yet polished by a creepy-looking man and [TS]

00:13:52   yes exactly get there later [TS]

00:13:54   so they leave a cave and now they are in [TS]

00:13:56   the deep inland in California basically [TS]

00:14:00   the cave the cave was beautifully let's [TS]

00:14:03   just remember as other pitch-black this [TS]

00:14:05   dark flashlight there no torches they [TS]

00:14:07   don't matches and it was beautifully lit [TS]

00:14:09   as they walk through this cave sounds [TS]

00:14:11   perfect [TS]

00:14:12   yeah no one gave any thought about the [TS]

00:14:14   lighting in this movie [TS]

00:14:15   exactly yes there's a scene where [TS]

00:14:18   they're just standing underneath the [TS]

00:14:19   tree there's bright light near them [TS]

00:14:22   everyone's kind of half and shadow yeah [TS]

00:14:24   now it's actually made uh ok so now that [TS]

00:14:28   now they're out in in the inland of the [TS]

00:14:31   island which definitely is a dry inland [TS]

00:14:34   California sort of location there's [TS]

00:14:36   plenty of wood for a raft here they did [TS]

00:14:38   they exclaim thank goodness that trees [TS]

00:14:40   are brilliant at this point has never [TS]

00:14:44   said the word aloud buoyant Bowie and [TS]

00:14:46   brilliant really I really pronounce the [TS]

00:14:48   hell out of that one reminds one of them [TS]

00:14:49   of Philadelphia and as he says [TS]

00:14:52   Philadelphia because his our clutches [TS]

00:14:54   his right forearm as a video game sound [TS]

00:14:58   effect appears in the background be we [TS]

00:15:00   so I'm going to say this was the moment [TS]

00:15:03   when I would I was locked in [TS]

00:15:05   I was like you know a lot yeah that was [TS]

00:15:08   it a lot of bad movies waste waste your [TS]

00:15:11   time there's there's a lot of filler but [TS]

00:15:14   this is like no we have a crazy [TS]

00:15:16   telepathic pain ray now there's going to [TS]

00:15:18   be amazon's like we're not wasting time [TS]

00:15:20   we don't have time for this now this is [TS]

00:15:22   Frankenstein's island i think i use [TS]

00:15:24   either a secret robot or he was being [TS]

00:15:26   converted into being a robot interesting [TS]

00:15:28   some beam i did also suspect secret but [TS]

00:15:30   it turns out what he likes just a doctor [TS]

00:15:32   was just a telepathic thing that if you [TS]

00:15:34   say out loud the name of a location on [TS]

00:15:38   the outside world is your arm is [TS]

00:15:40   paralyzed apathy like telepathy [TS]

00:15:42   telepathy would affect your head [TS]

00:15:44   this is like telepathy yeah it's out [TS]

00:15:46   loud it's only to speak it aloud Giorgio [TS]

00:15:50   tulip yeah there's many there's [TS]

00:15:51   microphones and then the pain raise [TS]

00:15:53   happened the power paralyzes the arm how [TS]

00:15:55   we got to the woman tied between up [TS]

00:15:57   format and discover a girl shape and its [TS]

00:15:59   strong between two trees indeed their [TS]

00:16:01   entire down the road concerned about her [TS]

00:16:05   there's other disturbed by it but they [TS]

00:16:06   make no effort to help her [TS]

00:16:08   I think they're more disturbed by the [TS]

00:16:09   skeletons hanging out around her there [TS]

00:16:11   are was called away to a skull delhi and [TS]

00:16:13   is unclear if it's anywhere near them or [TS]

00:16:16   not but there is one in a series of [TS]

00:16:18   cutaways Monty said kinda like survivor [TS]

00:16:20   where it's completely unconnected to [TS]

00:16:22   anything but there's apparently a skull [TS]

00:16:23   uh somewhere that's not even a good fake [TS]

00:16:26   skull its a rubber mask that you would [TS]

00:16:29   wear to look like a skeleton Monty what [TS]

00:16:32   this movie lacks in quality of skulls it [TS]

00:16:34   makes up for [TS]

00:16:35   in quantity of school before the same [TS]

00:16:36   skull place and over and over this and [TS]

00:16:39   13 skulls but they're in every every [TS]

00:16:41   shot time to move the camera somebody [TS]

00:16:43   had to move the skulls over there what [TS]

00:16:45   you really want one of those fancy for [TS]

00:16:47   school movies go somewhere else is [TS]

00:16:48   reconciling that does not stop Dino like [TS]

00:16:51   an hour later from noticing one of the [TS]

00:16:53   skulls and jumping slightly less room to [TS]

00:16:55   the first time he's noticed a fright you [TS]

00:16:57   okay but this is where we meet uh there [TS]

00:16:59   are a lot of white as i wrote down white [TS]

00:17:01   girls and leopard skin bikinis appear [TS]

00:17:03   they are the natives of Frankenstein is [TS]

00:17:05   now we get to the real point is milk [TS]

00:17:07   we're very uninterested they they seem [TS]

00:17:09   so lackadaisical you wonder if they're [TS]

00:17:11   drugged or mute and then they speak [TS]

00:17:14   English perfectly [TS]

00:17:15   yes you are pretty asian seem unclear as [TS]

00:17:18   though they are drugged or mute [TS]

00:17:19   yeah but also like they were extremely [TS]

00:17:22   fair skinned and have relatively well [TS]

00:17:25   fashion hair for people who seem to live [TS]

00:17:27   in huts it's true i'm not going to point [TS]

00:17:29   out all the logical inconsistencies [TS]

00:17:30   principal well i'm going to adjust their [TS]

00:17:33   base once this next scene bother me [TS]

00:17:35   deeply because they're preparing meat we [TS]

00:17:37   don't know where they got the beat me [TS]

00:17:38   from the Leopards then Melvin writing [TS]

00:17:41   when you sell the meat do you mean the [TS]

00:17:43   heavy top half only sponge bath they [TS]

00:17:45   give to africa haha that yes they do rub [TS]

00:17:48   down two guys two of the guys i have [TS]

00:17:51   taken shirts off it's still in there [TS]

00:17:52   khakis and they're being rubbed down by [TS]

00:17:54   the girls after after being told you're [TS]

00:17:56   pretty you're pretty come with us which [TS]

00:18:00   is not wish fulfillment at all [TS]

00:18:01   Monty did you have some very specific [TS]

00:18:03   reality checks that you wanted to [TS]

00:18:05   perform right now [TS]

00:18:07   yes the girls that decide how terrified [TS]

00:18:10   they are of stuff [TS]

00:18:11   yes half the time they're completely [TS]

00:18:13   casual what happened over there [TS]

00:18:16   yeah they capture us sometimes for [TS]

00:18:18   scientific experiments yeah it's fine or [TS]

00:18:21   and that guy screaming in pain in his [TS]

00:18:23   arm whatever let's go over here [TS]

00:18:24   sometimes they're completely terrified [TS]

00:18:27   from everything that happens in there [TS]

00:18:29   screaming in terror but these are girls [TS]

00:18:31   that somehow skin leopard with their [TS]

00:18:33   bare hands yep [TS]

00:18:34   and where did all these girls come from [TS]

00:18:36   Monte what you don't see is that there's [TS]

00:18:37   joann's fabric about my dog ? come back [TS]

00:18:40   to the dog they got a pot full of meat [TS]

00:18:42   they got a pot for me and there's no [TS]

00:18:44   Melvin in mind [TS]

00:18:45   it's a oh my god are they cooking the [TS]

00:18:46   dog might actually be a horror film I [TS]

00:18:49   thought easy it's not a horror film [TS]

00:18:51   really but it's not isn't it isn't it [TS]

00:18:53   isn't it but I do strip I'm like oh [TS]

00:18:56   thank i would note that says oh thank [TS]

00:18:58   god there's the dog because i was like [TS]

00:19:00   out came back and he has been actually [TS]

00:19:02   an animal roasting on a spit and then [TS]

00:19:03   immediately Dino is searching for Melvin [TS]

00:19:05   and that yeah it's like I think Dina was [TS]

00:19:08   worried that it might be Melvin to but [TS]

00:19:10   it's fine Melvin is fine [TS]

00:19:12   this is the first time television is a [TS]

00:19:13   real scandal the second sign because [TS]

00:19:15   he'd pee on that seaweed early on when [TS]

00:19:16   he gets into all sorts of trouble and [TS]

00:19:18   you have always disappearing and Dino [TS]

00:19:20   spends half the movie just looking for [TS]

00:19:22   melting from holland for it's true [TS]

00:19:24   in addition to run the the scene where [TS]

00:19:26   they rub down the shirtless guys in but [TS]

00:19:28   they're still in there khakis and almost [TS]

00:19:30   rather they roasted the dogs also [TS]

00:19:32   apparent apparently unconnected seen [TS]

00:19:34   that they shot somewhere else where [TS]

00:19:35   there's a one of the girls is doing a [TS]

00:19:38   dance with a snake to which the guys say [TS]

00:19:40   that's the weirdest thing I've ever seen [TS]

00:19:43   dance is a strong word yes you [TS]

00:19:47   undulation like a snake dance like a [TS]

00:19:49   little buddies and I want to do a quick [TS]

00:19:52   poll of uncomfortable people [TS]

00:19:53   ok weirdest thing you've ever seen lady [TS]

00:19:55   dancing kind of weirdly with snake or [TS]

00:19:57   hammock made of woman [TS]

00:19:59   ya gotta admit its way to its not order [TS]

00:20:03   soon before your garter snake yeah yeah [TS]

00:20:05   all right just checking it really [TS]

00:20:07   restores fantastic dance of some sort [TS]

00:20:09   while the menfolk feast and drink from [TS]

00:20:11   coconuts and ogle disconcertingly and [TS]

00:20:13   this goes on for like logs hours okay [TS]

00:20:15   very more question is what what is it [TS]

00:20:17   about the presence of Frankenstein that [TS]

00:20:19   inspires but parties to break out [TS]

00:20:21   because we had a long is a concern is it [TS]

00:20:24   that is that the presence of Frank [TS]

00:20:25   centers at the presence of the nineteen [TS]

00:20:27   sixties and seventies i think i think [TS]

00:20:29   it's a little yeah he's coming from [TS]

00:20:32   column a little from column B I think [TS]

00:20:34   the first one was in the fifties one of [TS]

00:20:36   the nicest uh one of the nicest things [TS]

00:20:39   wanna be the artful choices the jury [TS]

00:20:40   warn the director makes in Frankenstein [TS]

00:20:42   island is extremely long sections where [TS]

00:20:46   nobody says anything or does anything [TS]

00:20:50   yes that's as close as we can get to the [TS]

00:20:52   movie not being on there's a lot of [TS]

00:20:54   walking around [TS]

00:20:55   there's a lot of silent interlocking [TS]

00:20:58   dialogue is use parsley and for specific [TS]

00:21:00   effect I i know it's it's sort of like a [TS]

00:21:03   little it's a little bit of the the [TS]

00:21:04   french new wave and a little bit of [TS]

00:21:06   roger corman mm I appreciate that and a [TS]

00:21:09   little bit high school science project [TS]

00:21:11   there's a moment later in the movie [TS]

00:21:12   where they say oh where are you located [TS]

00:21:15   oh and not far from here and then they [TS]

00:21:16   continue to walk for about five minutes [TS]

00:21:18   i thought okay i thought not long from [TS]

00:21:19   here was just a device but no they're [TS]

00:21:21   warming up for showing us the entire [TS]

00:21:22   walk to that place and it was [TS]

00:21:25   infuriating to actually have that [TS]

00:21:27   written in the script when they could've [TS]

00:21:28   just shown it to us because they did [TS]

00:21:29   show don't tell [TS]

00:21:31   that's how films were not that that's [TS]

00:21:32   not how this works and there's an awful [TS]

00:21:34   lot of people just tiptoeing around in [TS]

00:21:35   fields in this movie which which is I [TS]

00:21:38   think that really reinforces the [TS]

00:21:39   scooby-doo field for me it did not [TS]

00:21:41   reinforce the island feel for me because [TS]

00:21:44   we see an awful lot of landscape in the [TS]

00:21:45   background that we do yes yeah it's a [TS]

00:21:48   very I don't really like a vineyard on [TS]

00:21:50   the hills in the background Derek [TS]

00:21:52   savages house somewhere back there [TS]

00:21:53   yeah yeah they drink out of coconut cups [TS]

00:21:56   which again makes us ask the question [TS]

00:21:58   where the coconut trees for that it's a [TS]

00:21:59   very Gilligan's Island kind of thing [TS]

00:22:01   that killed all the the jaguars leopards [TS]

00:22:04   and I did not speak out because I was [TS]

00:22:06   not a leper yeah and then all i could [TS]

00:22:07   only get the coconut and then they had [TS]

00:22:10   to use coconuts they killed all the [TS]

00:22:11   coconut trees and you didn't have to be [TS]

00:22:13   yeah I said nothing because i'm doing [TS]

00:22:15   coconut water is a-coming anyone is [TS]

00:22:17   going ahead and gave me amnesia is [TS]

00:22:19   actually a prop store around the hill [TS]

00:22:20   its they're working on the snakes and [TS]

00:22:22   tarantulas and i bet you guys are still [TS]

00:22:24   not gonna say anything [TS]

00:22:24   I mean I know this movie is cheaply made [TS]

00:22:26   but the plastic bottle pouring that did [TS]

00:22:27   get to me that in the middle of all the [TS]

00:22:29   other stuff that isn't just openly on a [TS]

00:22:31   plastic bottle they're filling the [TS]

00:22:32   coconuts from ya know i watched your may [TS]

00:22:34   have something here because we are [TS]

00:22:35   treated to several scenes of them sort [TS]

00:22:37   of waving their hands and making the [TS]

00:22:39   snakes and spiders crawl around towards [TS]

00:22:41   that actually writers injectors you a [TS]

00:22:43   similar fashion [TS]

00:22:44   I think he means spider stock footage [TS]

00:22:46   there's at least one realized fighter in [TS]

00:22:48   removing yeah [TS]

00:22:50   yes ladies holding a snake personally I [TS]

00:22:52   don't like spiders Orson and we are [TS]

00:22:54   treated here 21 that a close-up on the [TS]

00:22:56   one of the dancers but interspersed with [TS]

00:22:58   shots of a coiled snake gradually [TS]

00:23:00   stretching out default length which I [TS]

00:23:02   find surprising in this little got to be [TS]

00:23:05   Fellini and then the snakes links up and [TS]

00:23:07   dance stops so dr. Smith [TS]

00:23:09   xin and demands at the dance stop so I [TS]

00:23:11   don't know what I power he has over the [TS]

00:23:12   women but later on the movie there's a [TS]

00:23:14   woman who is like practicing her DJ [TS]

00:23:16   skills over to tarantulas and they're [TS]

00:23:19   dancing around with her so I don't know [TS]

00:23:20   what power they have over the animals or [TS]

00:23:22   what power the animals have over them [TS]

00:23:24   it's very confusing it doesn't make much [TS]

00:23:25   sense the bongo drum dance complete uh [TS]

00:23:28   we we hear a reference to somebody else [TS]

00:23:31   mentions Kansas City all my arm the [TS]

00:23:34   power the Carolinas my arm we start to [TS]

00:23:35   learn that must be the mentioning of [TS]

00:23:37   American cities because the arm thing [TS]

00:23:39   that happened I so what happens next day [TS]

00:23:42   walk a lot there are a lot more there's [TS]

00:23:44   much more walking we see some shots we [TS]

00:23:48   get some interspersed shots of skulls or [TS]

00:23:49   I or or candles in the shape of a skull [TS]

00:23:53   I thought that some of them were looking [TS]

00:23:55   more like school candles and we gotta [TS]

00:23:57   kind of a shot of a spider again stock [TS]

00:23:59   footage of spiders just to make it a [TS]

00:24:01   little uh a little uh more threatening [TS]

00:24:04   but now we get to the real heart of the [TS]

00:24:09   the drama Frankenstein island the real [TS]

00:24:11   mystery meat if you will [TS]

00:24:12   one of the girls is uh is there is a [TS]

00:24:15   kidnap attempt on one of the girls by a [TS]

00:24:17   guy a guy down worker talking burglar [TS]

00:24:21   it's a guy with blue jeans you can see [TS]

00:24:23   his underpants and he's wearing a [TS]

00:24:24   longshoreman tag and he tries to take [TS]

00:24:26   her but he's run off its Tony Clifton [TS]

00:24:30   it's andy kaufman you know alter egos [TS]

00:24:32   when clifton trying to get this we went [TS]

00:24:33   to his old man Jenkins and he would have [TS]

00:24:36   gotten away with the new haven for those [TS]

00:24:37   meddling kids just not very intimidating [TS]

00:24:40   missing the best part that seen as well [TS]

00:24:41   when they come by he's hiding behind the [TS]

00:24:43   tree the same direction they're coming [TS]

00:24:45   in they would have seen with him [TS]

00:24:48   yeah and then after he runs off she's [TS]

00:24:50   like no don't chase him chase him he's [TS]

00:24:52   10 feet away and crawling and curl yeah [TS]

00:24:55   still in the shot i love you can see his [TS]

00:24:58   tighty-whities riding up on his on his [TS]

00:25:00   blue jeans [TS]

00:25:02   doesn't that held up surprisingly well [TS]

00:25:04   for 17 year old underwear and uh I'm [TS]

00:25:08   impressed by the by the the line of [TS]

00:25:11   dialogue here one of the girl says oh [TS]

00:25:13   that's i read he's always attempting to [TS]

00:25:15   take one of us he tries this often but [TS]

00:25:17   he's programmed to weaken ok these [TS]

00:25:21   programs wheel of course [TS]

00:25:22   yes of course he's programmed weekend [TS]

00:25:24   why wouldn't you programmed him to [TS]

00:25:25   weekend when he kidnaps people can't [TS]

00:25:28   they were reason this is very confused [TS]

00:25:29   so casual about being regularly rated [TS]

00:25:32   for scientific certainty is this is [TS]

00:25:35   where the movie gets extremely confusing [TS]

00:25:37   and have you like only there were say [TS]

00:25:39   too crusty pirates to show up and really [TS]

00:25:41   shining light on things [TS]

00:25:42   just remember you're getting close to my [TS]

00:25:43   favorite character yes so okay so with [TS]

00:25:47   their part of a ship's crew normal until [TS]

00:25:49   being experimented on and this is the [TS]

00:25:50   point where we meet the greatest [TS]

00:25:53   character in Frankenstein and his name [TS]

00:25:55   is Jack oh I was so where you going to [TS]

00:25:57   say the other hand is no no no there's [TS]

00:25:59   also mr. beauty but he's name is Jack oh [TS]

00:26:02   he he drinks a lot of romney is always [TS]

00:26:04   drunk and all he does is laugh love this [TS]

00:26:07   guy [TS]

00:26:07   haha ah you so happy [TS]

00:26:12   oh man I can't be mad at him he's [TS]

00:26:15   breaking the room every time I know he [TS]

00:26:18   is trapped in Frankenstein's island and [TS]

00:26:20   he has found a way yes I'd like a lot of [TS]

00:26:23   model [TS]

00:26:24   yeah I think there's a lot we can learn [TS]

00:26:27   from him this was the moment when I got [TS]

00:26:28   the mannose hands of fate five going on [TS]

00:26:31   to where I was like this is a guy's the [TS]

00:26:32   closest the Manus character we have the [TS]

00:26:35   old guy seems like a like an aged Torgo [TS]

00:26:38   because he's got the stick [TS]

00:26:39   yeah he walks like he's got a load in [TS]

00:26:41   his pants just like torgo's now this guy [TS]

00:26:43   has more energy than all of mannose put [TS]

00:26:45   together does this was through it so my [TS]

00:26:48   um I have to admit my one of my text [TS]

00:26:51   message tones on my phone for the last [TS]

00:26:53   10 years has been Jocko laughing because [TS]

00:26:56   it's just the best [TS]

00:26:57   it's the best you mocked me for jumping [TS]

00:27:02   g9o it's so aggressive to how this is [TS]

00:27:05   also a sweet we their 50 sir what would [TS]

00:27:08   somebody say there's a couple of aged [TS]

00:27:10   pirates think I can't crusty yes rusty [TS]

00:27:13   pliers accurate this is also where we [TS]

00:27:15   see the we we learned that the girls are [TS]

00:27:19   really deep into witchcraft and also [TS]

00:27:21   smoking out of sculpt a skull bong which [TS]

00:27:25   we says clearly a skull ball [TS]

00:27:28   yeah they're not only just brought yeah [TS]

00:27:29   I enjoy all of the scenes with the [TS]

00:27:32   Amazons in their camp [TS]

00:27:33   are always said that night uh-huh which [TS]

00:27:35   allows us to show the passage of time [TS]

00:27:37   but also is clearly like the campsite is [TS]

00:27:39   really crappy and we can only show that [TS]

00:27:41   night haha securing most of it and we [TS]

00:27:44   only had all the girls for the one night [TS]

00:27:46   so yeah we had to shoot at all that [TS]

00:27:49   night sight with the fronds stapled on [TS]

00:27:51   loosely on the outside of the wood [TS]

00:27:52   street we also learned at this point [TS]

00:27:54   that there are many more of the [TS]

00:27:55   longshoremen guys with the black beanies [TS]

00:27:58   and the and the jeans around and they [TS]

00:28:00   all look like somebody I think I spot [TS]

00:28:02   tom petty Stanley turns up at one huh [TS]

00:28:05   father Guido Sarducci is there like [TS]

00:28:07   three times tables are swifty Lazar is [TS]

00:28:09   the one that I like four or if you like [TS]

00:28:11   a kind of misshapen Larry but bud melman [TS]

00:28:13   but he looks more like swifty Lazar if [TS]

00:28:16   you class [TS]

00:28:17   yeah the glad that big giant glasses and [TS]

00:28:19   the bigs cheeks and he's bald but yeah [TS]

00:28:21   these are all the mushy face the [TS]

00:28:24   preferred yes the threats to the [TS]

00:28:25   preferred terminology for these guys [TS]

00:28:26   these are the lackeys of Frankenstein [TS]

00:28:28   island the the long term and lackeys of [TS]

00:28:30   Frankenstein island that goon is but [TS]

00:28:32   they have no blood you see they have no [TS]

00:28:34   blood yet because you can just cut them [TS]

00:28:35   in half with machine-gun that's in [TS]

00:28:37   strangely specifically way if this were [TS]

00:28:39   a Gilbert and Sullivan musical would end [TS]

00:28:41   with all the long term and marry all of [TS]

00:28:43   the girls because I know [TS]

00:28:45   wouldn't that be great no it would not [TS]

00:28:46   be terrible oh I want to see the GoPro [TS]

00:28:49   in Sullivan version now they're deep [TS]

00:28:51   into witchcraft so because they're [TS]

00:28:52   smoking from the skull bong their deep [TS]

00:28:54   into which clap craft at one of them [TS]

00:28:55   comments that really throws your travel [TS]

00:28:57   plans in Reverse [TS]

00:28:59   I don't know what that means and they [TS]

00:29:00   and they realize and now why the power [TS]

00:29:04   hits them when you say someplace that's [TS]

00:29:06   not here and to do 22 demonstrated they [TS]

00:29:09   they trick is it Kurt into saying you [TS]

00:29:12   know it's tina tina you know into saying [TS]

00:29:14   about that football game he played me so [TS]

00:29:16   yeah against miami on the arm goes again [TS]

00:29:20   the cheapest special effect in the whole [TS]

00:29:22   movie because all you have to do is one [TS]

00:29:24   of your actors has to go all be armed [TS]

00:29:26   and that's it that's the whole thing [TS]

00:29:28   aww sound effect but now they've worked [TS]

00:29:30   it out they don't have to gather around [TS]

00:29:31   and hold his arm while he screwed so [TS]

00:29:33   there's a little path gotten over that [TS]

00:29:35   now also they're just laughing at you [TS]

00:29:36   know because they made him say Miami and [TS]

00:29:39   nobody like to do you know [TS]

00:29:39   no not really it's nicely scarf it's [TS]

00:29:42   off-putting very off-putting it is [TS]

00:29:45   so I'm so the beardy guy [TS]

00:29:50   it talks to them and and says we have no [TS]

00:29:54   secrets in fact it's quite the opposite [TS]

00:29:56   whatever that means what's the opposite [TS]

00:29:57   of that I don't know jack Oh laughs a [TS]

00:29:59   lot [TS]

00:30:00   we see another longshoremen Lackey [TS]

00:30:02   there's a cutaway again to that box with [TS]

00:30:05   the blinking light for no apparent [TS]

00:30:07   reason they're told they can't they're [TS]

00:30:10   not allowed to go into the main house on [TS]

00:30:12   the island yet so they're very very very [TS]

00:30:15   slowly walk through the night across the [TS]

00:30:20   island to a place where we're Jocko and [TS]

00:30:23   the beardy guy apparently live there's a [TS]

00:30:26   jail cell there they brought food that [TS]

00:30:29   they don't believe is edible [TS]

00:30:30   even though they ate the meat the [TS]

00:30:32   Amazons gave them Rattlers line with the [TS]

00:30:34   guys were at the doc says oh it's [TS]

00:30:36   probably fine [TS]

00:30:37   it's a problem it's probably fine [TS]

00:30:39   whatever and then they leave her this [TS]

00:30:40   dot insulted they walk away [TS]

00:30:42   he's already given up wearing now year [TS]

00:30:44   three of lost where we know there are [TS]

00:30:46   scientific experiments on the island and [TS]

00:30:48   we've been told somebody over here can [TS]

00:30:50   explain it but you can't talk to you can [TS]

00:30:52   talk to them yet [TS]

00:30:53   that's right that's right whatever that [TS]

00:30:55   komodo dragon and season one minute [TS]

00:30:57   about that thing in awhile how was weird [TS]

00:30:59   that was weird but hey there's a new [TS]

00:31:00   character now it's a a an old sailor who [TS]

00:31:03   is now laying in a cell and it's played [TS]

00:31:07   by cameron mitchell one of the Allied [TS]

00:31:09   airmen well-known actors who is in this [TS]

00:31:11   film and he is he's playing clay Jason [TS]

00:31:15   who is a he was a captain of a schooner [TS]

00:31:17   shipwrecked on the island long ago and [TS]

00:31:21   he's completely batty he's convinced [TS]

00:31:22   that Edgar Allan Poe wrote his poems [TS]

00:31:25   about himself and his dear wife Lenore [TS]

00:31:27   who was lost in the in the ocean waves [TS]

00:31:30   while also what we meet him there is a [TS]

00:31:32   cut-away to a skeleton with a with a [TS]

00:31:34   knife in its I that it's unclear where [TS]

00:31:37   that is or if it's in the same movie [TS]

00:31:38   that shot is yes just like the TV and it [TS]

00:31:42   because that's disturbing [TS]

00:31:44   did they did they bring one on the ship [TS]

00:31:45   with them then you just keep like a [TS]

00:31:47   prisoner around just need one for some [TS]

00:31:49   reason i think was on the island they [TS]

00:31:50   found it on you know all of the sea the [TS]

00:31:52   Leopards wore it I don't know I just I [TS]

00:31:54   appreciate the design of [TS]

00:31:55   shed that's like it's built like a zoo [TS]

00:31:57   cage where instead of just having said [TS]

00:31:59   that we lock him in its a shed that you [TS]

00:32:00   can go in that has like a full like you [TS]

00:32:03   know wall of bars ya know the rest of [TS]

00:32:05   the shed is made of wood that perfectly [TS]

00:32:06   would be a lot easier for American [TS]

00:32:08   out-of-the-box seems like a fairly [TS]

00:32:10   simple to overcome the crusty old pirate [TS]

00:32:12   that comes in and sticks and well she is [TS]

00:32:15   I mean he is being drained of blood so [TS]

00:32:16   survival tip number three hold on to all [TS]

00:32:19   your blood don't give to any pirates he [TS]

00:32:22   must be very old if he thinks the pole [TS]

00:32:25   basis stories on him while he said [TS]

00:32:27   something about how it's like I think he [TS]

00:32:28   knew somehow it's it's phrased in a kind [TS]

00:32:31   of insane way like like Poe was [TS]

00:32:33   prefiguring the life of clay Jason [TS]

00:32:36   although you do wonder if perhaps he's [TS]

00:32:38   been there for hundreds of years and [TS]

00:32:40   it's this magical mystical time portal [TS]

00:32:43   island again the lost parallels very [TS]

00:32:45   strong but I think he's just a nut job [TS]

00:32:47   at this point this jason reminds me of [TS]

00:32:50   our Jason and I imagine that's how he [TS]

00:32:52   edits are episodes i like that camera [TS]

00:32:54   Mitchell chose to tell us so much about [TS]

00:32:55   his about his character just by spitting [TS]

00:32:58   throughout the entire seat we learn more [TS]

00:33:00   about Jason then we learn about any of [TS]

00:33:03   our protagonist it's true jason has a [TS]

00:33:04   back story the other part of the other [TS]

00:33:06   guys just showed off its true well being [TS]

00:33:08   of a dino has that cool neckerchief so [TS]

00:33:10   what do you want a backstory that is an [TS]

00:33:12   average of all the way back stories that [TS]

00:33:14   he had to choose to be a guy with a [TS]

00:33:15   neckerchief created by an exigency had [TS]

00:33:17   to choose the right one here to put it [TS]

00:33:18   on here to choose to go it and have fun [TS]

00:33:20   ballooning and he had to survive balloon [TS]

00:33:23   Christ that's actually donating a [TS]

00:33:25   fashion story with a backstory [TS]

00:33:27   I I respect your reading of frankincense [TS]

00:33:29   island but that's not what what I what I [TS]

00:33:32   have in my headcanon is what is the [TS]

00:33:34   neckerchief hiding ah it's is his head [TS]

00:33:38   is actually stitched onto his neck or by [TS]

00:33:40   dr. giant vampire wounds it is now all [TS]

00:33:43   right think about it think about bolts [TS]

00:33:45   he made it I think we can assume based [TS]

00:33:47   on camera Mitchell's backstory that the [TS]

00:33:49   island goons also came about ashore with [TS]

00:33:52   him in the ship that could be that could [TS]

00:33:54   be they are all dressed as longshoremen [TS]

00:33:56   so I sort of figured there the crew [TS]

00:33:57   they're all from from the frigate he [TS]

00:34:00   seems slightly more modern dress than [TS]

00:34:02   him he seemed a longshoreman on the [TS]

00:34:04   shore [TS]

00:34:05   it's just me and he says are under sure [TS]

00:34:08   you don't miss your crew identically all [TS]

00:34:10   the way down the glasses that is just [TS]

00:34:12   confused and confusing there they're [TS]

00:34:14   sensitive to light money that's why they [TS]

00:34:16   were the sunglasses also because we [TS]

00:34:17   could only afford one pair of terrible [TS]

00:34:19   contact lenses for their weird eyes so [TS]

00:34:21   that they have to wear the sunglasses [TS]

00:34:22   the rest of the time to cover that [TS]

00:34:24   anyway we're giving away from the [TS]

00:34:25   important parts of the plot clays play [TS]

00:34:28   jason says they can't take it [TS]

00:34:30   they keep taking my blood I give them [TS]

00:34:32   corpuscles enough to fill a frigate i [TS]

00:34:34   believe the line is mr. beard he comes [TS]

00:34:36   in 22 with a big hypodermic needle that [TS]

00:34:39   will see repeatedly because they only [TS]

00:34:41   have the one to take more to give him [TS]

00:34:44   give him drugs or to take more blood who [TS]

00:34:46   knows he claims that it's to sedate him [TS]

00:34:48   that it appears that the crusty old [TS]

00:34:49   pirate sticks the needle directly into [TS]

00:34:52   the top of camera Mitchell's head yes [TS]

00:34:54   and powerful way to city is where all [TS]

00:34:55   the blood is Steve that's where the [TS]

00:34:57   blood that resides there heads [TS]

00:34:59   yeah he spends most of his time had [TS]

00:35:01   blood on screen doing a handstand just [TS]

00:35:03   me you lose many percent of your blood [TS]

00:35:05   through your head with your entire staff [TS]

00:35:06   data is accurate but it doesn't matter [TS]

00:35:10   because the good news everyone [TS]

00:35:12   your request has been granted you get to [TS]

00:35:14   go up to the big house and meet the [TS]

00:35:16   proprietor Frankenstein island smash cut [TS]

00:35:19   to proprietor Frankenstein islands it is [TS]

00:35:22   one of the most amazing characters in [TS]

00:35:25   this film [TS]

00:35:26   Sheila Frankenstein yes that's right [TS]

00:35:28   Sheila Frankenstein [TS]

00:35:29   great-great-granddaughter of dr. [TS]

00:35:31   Frankenstein she is a lady we're dressed [TS]

00:35:34   all in black wearing a bright white wig [TS]

00:35:38   it's a wave of use it some ways it is [TS]

00:35:40   Aegon her neck [TS]

00:35:41   it's a Jason is it one week later we [TS]

00:35:45   it's two weeks it may be multiple wendys [TS]

00:35:47   way to me on the back of her neck is a [TS]

00:35:49   regular wake me in the top of the 242 [TS]

00:35:53   things that have nothing in common [TS]

00:35:55   it's a Frankenstein mullet business in [TS]

00:35:56   the front party in the back and I ask a [TS]

00:35:58   question the actress in this role she's [TS]

00:36:01   spoken to other human beings before [TS]

00:36:03   right [TS]

00:36:04   she's no evidence of that in the text i [TS]

00:36:07   would tell you I don't chance hammer and [TS]

00:36:08   I i was confused about that [TS]

00:36:11   yeah I i prefer a literal reading of [TS]

00:36:13   frankincense island she has a hard time [TS]

00:36:15   with dialogue [TS]

00:36:17   well that's because you're dialing stuff [TS]

00:36:19   like [TS]

00:36:19   I'm Sheila Frankenstein but actually [TS]

00:36:22   it's van Helsing I don't like my married [TS]

00:36:24   name and your left to guess which is [TS]

00:36:26   which I just prefer my married name yeah [TS]

00:36:28   what are you talking which married name [TS]

00:36:30   I van helsings her married name because [TS]

00:36:33   she is the descendant of Frankenstein [TS]

00:36:35   what she goes my pregnant cousin [TS]

00:36:37   business going on we don't know why [TS]

00:36:39   bring up the van Helsing part that just [TS]

00:36:41   tell me what made you want me to call [TS]

00:36:42   you [TS]

00:36:43   why do you point out that we're making [TS]

00:36:44   another reference to a classic monster [TS]

00:36:46   yeah they're vampires later not really [TS]

00:36:49   but there's meat van Helsing later [TS]

00:36:51   so this actress by the way it and I use [TS]

00:36:53   the term loosely because she is really [TS]

00:36:55   not very good at any dialogue at all is [TS]

00:36:58   actually had a career as a continuity [TS]

00:37:00   coordinator for animated TV series and [TS]

00:37:03   seems to have worked in animation for 10 [TS]

00:37:05   or 15 years but this was one of her rare [TS]

00:37:09   acting roles she also appeared by the [TS]

00:37:11   way in bikini summer and the wild world [TS]

00:37:15   of that woman also directly Jerry Warren [TS]

00:37:18   ah and that's that's an mst3k number is [TS]

00:37:23   but it also seemed director Jerry worn [TS]

00:37:26   so she'll Frankenstein she is something [TS]

00:37:29   she her dialogue is mysterious she [TS]

00:37:32   explains a little bit about her [TS]

00:37:33   backstory she married van Helsing [TS]

00:37:34   apparently her great-grandfather's dr. [TS]

00:37:37   Frankenstein he invented the power that [TS]

00:37:39   paralyzes the arm [TS]

00:37:40   ah now we know that's John Carradine [TS]

00:37:42   that's who we've got a glimpse of we see [TS]

00:37:44   a picture of him [TS]

00:37:45   it's john carradine is dr. Frankenstein [TS]

00:37:48   she says my husband channels him and so [TS]

00:37:50   from from beyond the grave dr. [TS]

00:37:52   Frankenstein still controls this island [TS]

00:37:55   and in fact beauty says at this point [TS]

00:37:57   being dead is no problem in fact it's [TS]

00:37:59   just the opposite [TS]

00:38:00   he's really in opposites really officer [TS]

00:38:03   stopped and I also i just i I you know [TS]

00:38:06   it did I found this little confusing [TS]

00:38:08   because it seemed like if anybody sees [TS]

00:38:10   your channel dr. Frankenstein wouldn't [TS]

00:38:12   be his descendant and not the husband of [TS]

00:38:15   his descendants well dr. van Helsing was [TS]

00:38:18   the assistant to Frankenstein is 200 [TS]

00:38:20   years old [TS]

00:38:21   ok so the assistant has magic powers but [TS]

00:38:23   that has nothing to do have a tight bond [TS]

00:38:26   that connects them across the across the [TS]

00:38:29   mad scientist [TS]

00:38:30   it's like having Igor help you yeah okay [TS]

00:38:33   it's great that we know who came up with [TS]

00:38:35   the arm paralyzing thing it but [TS]

00:38:38   everybody is why you would want to do [TS]

00:38:39   that that's left is it exercise for the [TS]

00:38:41   viewer [TS]

00:38:42   well it's obviously let me tell you [TS]

00:38:43   they're on an island full of scantily [TS]

00:38:45   clad amazon's would you not want them to [TS]

00:38:48   have full use of their right arm I [TS]

00:38:49   didn't think so i don't know what that [TS]

00:38:51   means it just reminds me of that time [TS]

00:38:53   back in back in Seattle nah they just [TS]

00:38:59   don't want you do the thinking of cities [TS]

00:39:02   in the United States while you're using [TS]

00:39:03   your right arm for some real people kept [TS]

00:39:05   talking about cities while they're [TS]

00:39:07   trying to do science is like that does [TS]

00:39:08   it I'm shutting this down that's it and [TS]

00:39:10   stop saying Miami or going to be a bit [TS]

00:39:12   of a detour from my important research [TS]

00:39:14   but it's I have to so she wants me to [TS]

00:39:17   the break is impressed by r4 belounis I [TS]

00:39:19   don't know why and says you could even [TS]

00:39:21   not you you seem to have good genes you [TS]

00:39:23   can impregnate the girls interesting [TS]

00:39:25   offer [TS]

00:39:26   what but the lackeys but who get in the [TS]

00:39:29   way at one point she's gotta get out of [TS]

00:39:31   my way to move aside you that she says [TS]

00:39:34   they're programmed to be perfect guards [TS]

00:39:35   we've made elaborate changes to them [TS]

00:39:37   they have no bloodstream they have to be [TS]

00:39:39   cut in half with a machine gun but they [TS]

00:39:41   also their eyes are sensitive to light [TS]

00:39:43   and then she takes the moniteur of their [TS]

00:39:45   lab so its own except exposition islands [TS]

00:39:48   so are they are the guards the worst [TS]

00:39:51   zombies you guys have ever seen in a [TS]

00:39:52   movie [TS]

00:39:53   yes yes yeah it's just checking if there [TS]

00:39:55   was a war zombie because that would be [TS]

00:39:57   that would be impressive [TS]

00:39:58   well compare their barely zombies but [TS]

00:40:00   they are theirs on the ass they're [TS]

00:40:02   clearly like they're clearly we know [TS]

00:40:04   these would be zombies if we have the [TS]

00:40:06   budget for them instead there guys it [TS]

00:40:07   has yes I was kind of this point that [TS]

00:40:09   the front sharma cabinet blue jean [TS]

00:40:11   factory and less fabric because i was [TS]

00:40:14   actually the the goal of all this [TS]

00:40:15   because they have so many no blue jeans [TS]

00:40:17   and leopard print fabrics available the [TS]

00:40:19   longshoremen sweater is the blue jeans [TS]

00:40:21   and a little cat stocking practice like [TS]

00:40:23   a clothing manufacturer island yeah [TS]

00:40:25   that's a switch hitter glasses [TS]

00:40:27   yeah I also turn out the video you [TS]

00:40:29   really do they do right because they're [TS]

00:40:31   sensitive delight if come on larger so [TS]

00:40:34   she could take them on a tour of the lab [TS]

00:40:35   dots very impressed he says I it is the [TS]

00:40:39   it is like a stereotypical bad movie [TS]

00:40:42   science fiction lab [TS]

00:40:43   it's got its got those uh it's got those [TS]

00:40:46   uh those Jacobs ladders [TS]

00:40:47   it's got like four Jacobs ladders [TS]

00:40:49   everywhere you look there's a it's got [TS]

00:40:51   its got beakers with colored water in [TS]

00:40:53   them like on a start helping styling [TS]

00:40:55   through tubes that it's got Spencer's [TS]

00:40:57   gifts lightning machines it it yeah it's [TS]

00:41:00   gotten under this mannequin leaning [TS]

00:41:02   against the wall which you have Ryan it [TS]

00:41:04   has a brain where your answer gets them [TS]

00:41:06   from he goes to Frankenstein let him who [TS]

00:41:08   make it back [TS]

00:41:10   it's got a meaningless chart on the wall [TS]

00:41:11   our best researchers haven't even [TS]

00:41:13   dreamed of this it's a land it's been [TS]

00:41:15   like turns out a landing site for an [TS]

00:41:16   advanced civilization so I guess aliens [TS]

00:41:18   were involved somehow [TS]

00:41:19   it's crazy that it took aliens to come [TS]

00:41:21   up with the idea of painting a metal [TS]

00:41:22   lunchbox pink and mailing into a table [TS]

00:41:25   where it could spin freely it's more of [TS]

00:41:26   an ammo box than a lunch box but yes it [TS]

00:41:29   is it is that's one of the machines it [TS]

00:41:30   meant to be levitating because it is [TS]

00:41:32   clearly not [TS]

00:41:33   no i don't think so i think it's just [TS]

00:41:34   spinning as mins diagonally in an [TS]

00:41:37   interesting way the spinning ammo box [TS]

00:41:38   it's a it's just a feature of [TS]

00:41:40   Frankenstein island we meet [TS]

00:41:42   oh and the brain I again I brain in a [TS]

00:41:44   Tupperware or on a lunch tray depending [TS]

00:41:45   on how you want to describe it but [TS]

00:41:46   there's AP these or at least the top [TS]

00:41:48   half of a brain is there because you [TS]

00:41:51   know you just not trying something [TS]

00:41:52   looking pretty much looks more like a [TS]

00:41:54   pro has sort of a jello brain [TS]

00:41:56   yeah it looks like somebody made a a [TS]

00:41:58   jello mold brain and only fill that [TS]

00:42:00   halfway up and it's ready milk and a [TS]

00:42:02   little before they got it out under the [TS]

00:42:03   glass if it was fake you look more like [TS]

00:42:05   a brain i think what they do is get an [TS]

00:42:07   actual sheep's brain and the thing to [TS]

00:42:09   maintain it so just kind of flopped down [TS]

00:42:11   like oh my god maybe it's Melvin's brain [TS]

00:42:13   oh no the smartest character in the [TS]

00:42:16   movie is dead he's okay [TS]

00:42:18   Melvin's okay i think um so we finally [TS]

00:42:21   meet dr. van Helsing he's very old is [TS]

00:42:23   200 years old can be only one and then [TS]

00:42:26   some extremely strange things happen [TS]

00:42:28   like icing the actor decided to he said [TS]

00:42:31   I will only do this role if I computer [TS]

00:42:34   in bed the whole time right [TS]

00:42:36   there's a great gun time here also i [TS]

00:42:38   demand a still picture of john carradine [TS]

00:42:40   on the bedside table John Carradine just [TS]

00:42:43   wanted to be an entirely different sets [TS]

00:42:44   the same actually it's the same to me [TS]

00:42:46   and john kennedy made in the ice pirates [TS]

00:42:47   where he's in bed the entire movie in [TS]

00:42:50   this also yes there's a picture of dr. [TS]

00:42:52   Frankenstein john carradine on here on a [TS]

00:42:54   table on in his hospital bed [TS]

00:42:56   facing out toward the camera so nobody [TS]

00:42:59   else in the scene can see it but the [TS]

00:43:01   camera can see it so we can see it isn't [TS]

00:43:02   that thoughtful of them to face it out [TS]

00:43:04   we have to know what dr. Frankenstein [TS]

00:43:06   looks like so you'll have some clue [TS]

00:43:07   what's going on when he appears yeah [TS]

00:43:09   exactly [TS]

00:43:10   this is visual next position now it all [TS]

00:43:12   makes sense to me i look forward to [TS]

00:43:14   having a clue what something means so [TS]

00:43:16   here we go there we see that we see the [TS]

00:43:18   Jacobs ladders then suddenly there are [TS]

00:43:21   weird video game sounds and I'm not [TS]

00:43:23   kidding they're totally video game sound [TS]

00:43:25   lab assistant Brian Eno comes in john [TS]

00:43:27   carradine appears and we get the first [TS]

00:43:30   of our wonderful dialogue which is OD [TS]

00:43:32   disciples of the golden thread i have [TS]

00:43:35   the 12 lines for the 12 lines in the [TS]

00:43:37   golden thread i have the power the power [TS]

00:43:39   the power power power power power power [TS]

00:43:46   power the power shall be yours [TS]

00:43:49   oh you you shall have the power the Pope [TS]

00:43:53   Jason if I wasn't paying super close [TS]

00:43:55   attention during that scene would it be [TS]

00:43:57   possible for John Kerry to his lines [TS]

00:43:59   again later [TS]

00:44:00   yeah that I can catch up yes he will he [TS]

00:44:01   will be back [TS]

00:44:03   it's on them slightly and changes them a [TS]

00:44:05   little bit the next time Kyle see john [TS]

00:44:07   carradine being given direction and [TS]

00:44:09   looking at a director as part of the [TS]

00:44:11   returned to see that we can we can do it [TS]

00:44:14   may it may be the girls are dancing [TS]

00:44:16   around we see the girls outside the [TS]

00:44:17   dancing with the flames carrying appears [TS]

00:44:19   he shall have the power again the power [TS]

00:44:21   the power the power and then one of the [TS]

00:44:24   two most fascinating and bizarre things [TS]

00:44:26   in this in this movie that we see the [TS]

00:44:29   lackeys they had they mix some potions [TS]

00:44:32   the long-term lackeys they mix emotions [TS]

00:44:34   of colored colored water so far speakers [TS]

00:44:36   they take our land a secret cause of [TS]

00:44:39   light a plastic halloween pitchfork [TS]

00:44:42   trident [TS]

00:44:43   yes from the drugstore from the Great [TS]

00:44:46   God must be the tag video game sounds [TS]

00:44:49   are playing during all of this we see a [TS]

00:44:51   pit that picture of dr. Frankenstein a [TS]

00:44:53   skull is superimposed on john carradine [TS]

00:44:56   space flames appear in a ring around it [TS]

00:44:59   and all all again all the while doobies [TS]

00:45:03   yogi listeners I'm gonna tell you this [TS]

00:45:05   scene is not in the TV at it if this [TS]

00:45:08   point in Frankenstein's island and you [TS]

00:45:10   do not have this scene stopped because [TS]

00:45:12   if you're doing Frankenstein's island [TS]

00:45:13   the wrong way that was why why you even [TS]

00:45:16   yeah you know turn off your toes and [TS]

00:45:18   that sounds really strange but would [TS]

00:45:19   really be strange as if that that [TS]

00:45:21   picture of john carradine was taped to [TS]

00:45:23   the back of a Buddha statue for some [TS]

00:45:25   writers you're really crazy it is to it [TS]

00:45:27   is taped to the back of a Buddhist and [TS]

00:45:28   we see the back of Buddhas head [TS]

00:45:30   oh my god that are crazy and the flame [TS]

00:45:33   this is where are you came up with a new [TS]

00:45:34   name for the film which was plan 9 from [TS]

00:45:36   outer Frankenstein work kind of [TS]

00:45:39   encapsulate the key the carradine you [TS]

00:45:42   know not being actually in the movie the [TS]

00:45:44   whole bit to sort of hit that gel to [TS]

00:45:46   that point is this where one of the [TS]

00:45:47   bikini girls turns out to be able to [TS]

00:45:49   breathe fire [TS]

00:45:50   yes the firedance he has yeah somebody [TS]

00:45:53   had a scale music and I hesitate to call [TS]

00:45:58   it that over this scene and a few of the [TS]

00:45:59   other scenes is so videogame asked that [TS]

00:46:02   i spent like 20 minutes just trying to [TS]

00:46:04   figure out if it was from a game that i [TS]

00:46:05   recall because it literally sounds like [TS]

00:46:07   something straight out of pac-man which [TS]

00:46:09   was nineteen eighty-one but it's not but [TS]

00:46:11   I feel like somewhere they believe that [TS]

00:46:13   some public domain video que somebody [TS]

00:46:15   had a kid's synthesizer and actually [TS]

00:46:17   it's amazing [TS]

00:46:18   or a computer i had actually had a [TS]

00:46:20   computer at that period of time that [TS]

00:46:22   could produce tones like that so [TS]

00:46:24   something about a cheap computer and [TS]

00:46:25   programmed it to make weird tones this [TS]

00:46:27   is the sound of somebody trying to make [TS]

00:46:28   three collect call [TS]

00:46:30   maybe it's because it feels like this is [TS]

00:46:32   like the there are these two 10-second [TS]

00:46:35   moments because there's one later where [TS]

00:46:37   I feel like there's another movie [TS]

00:46:38   another deeply weird movie trying to get [TS]

00:46:41   out of Frankenstein island and just not [TS]

00:46:43   being able to it's like it tries it's [TS]

00:46:45   like a forget it i give you some just [TS]

00:46:47   like just like our protagonist the movie [TS]

00:46:49   is stuck in Frankenstein i see i say it [TS]

00:46:53   is kind of a hallmark of Jerry wardens [TS]

00:46:54   career [TS]

00:46:55   mm okay I've been mesmerised by this [TS]

00:46:57   gift for the past two minutes straight [TS]

00:46:59   I can't look away did we skip over the [TS]

00:47:01   sports have no doubt and we're gonna [TS]

00:47:03   take a tour and of the gardens it's [TS]

00:47:06   daytime again now for some reason a [TS]

00:47:08   passage of time and and it says all you [TS]

00:47:10   like sports you what you want some [TS]

00:47:12   sports [TS]

00:47:13   we go to sports that right over that all [TS]

00:47:16   over there haha ah and what is going to [TS]

00:47:21   leave everybody what what sports do we [TS]

00:47:23   find Tommy acid with each other walking [TS]

00:47:25   the GI circling each other many for I [TS]

00:47:28   appreciate several things at ma it's [TS]

00:47:30   early ma it's not really you know it's [TS]

00:47:33   like the ultimate ultimate not fighting [TS]

00:47:35   League there's a naked dude marinating [TS]

00:47:37   in a bathtub [TS]

00:47:38   well yeah that's always going to keep [TS]

00:47:40   him in bham yeah is that some sort of [TS]

00:47:42   weird like side bet thing that's going [TS]

00:47:44   on the naked dude in the tub or is that [TS]

00:47:46   completely unrelated to the goon rather [TS]

00:47:47   than anything it's not really a [TS]

00:47:48   reoccurring part of the story that is [TS]

00:47:50   never results MMA means mixed martial [TS]

00:47:52   arts that means all martial arts at once [TS]

00:47:54   this has no martial arts MMA so okay na [TS]

00:47:58   the longshoremen RR brawling by not [TS]

00:48:01   fighting just circling each other and [TS]

00:48:02   that is sports on Frankenstein island [TS]

00:48:04   folks I like in this scene that set [TS]

00:48:06   during the day how cheap everything [TS]

00:48:08   really looks really sells it like like [TS]

00:48:10   the sheds that have the leaves like [TS]

00:48:12   staple to them to make them more like [TS]

00:48:14   huts and it's like that's just a shed [TS]

00:48:15   like that really I appreciate that i [TS]

00:48:18   also appreciate that Curtis who is my [TS]

00:48:20   least favorite chooses the moment when [TS]

00:48:22   he is surrounded by zombies and is [TS]

00:48:25   literally watching zombies fight to ask [TS]

00:48:27   Jacko like let's deal with the loss but [TS]

00:48:29   all this is the best line in the entire [TS]

00:48:32   movie so yes there they're fighting it's [TS]

00:48:34   a spectacle and this is when the dude [TS]

00:48:36   says hey Jacko how'd you lose the eye [TS]

00:48:39   and Jaco who's who's facing away from us [TS]

00:48:42   so we can't see what's under his eye [TS]

00:48:45   patch lift his eye patch for the guy for [TS]

00:48:48   Curt and says how do i lose me I this is [TS]

00:48:52   all they left of it neighbor which does [TS]

00:48:54   not answer the question [TS]

00:48:56   it is not though is actually actually [TS]

00:48:58   opened quite a few new because it was an [TS]

00:49:01   effective technique I was like that is [TS]

00:49:03   actually film technique in which we're [TS]

00:49:05   imagine we have to imagine what's worse [TS]

00:49:07   they're so what a pro dude check out on [TS]

00:49:09   the nose with Jocko is yeah and and [TS]

00:49:11   again now we have more depth on Jacko to [TS]

00:49:14   go with our depth on clay Jason as [TS]

00:49:16   backstory of like somebody took most of [TS]

00:49:19   his eye and that was all they left of it [TS]

00:49:21   and apparently he's a neighbor or [TS]

00:49:24   neighborly in some way I don't really [TS]

00:49:25   know how that [TS]

00:49:26   works but yeah there's a bit of I left [TS]

00:49:28   in their supper or something yeah season [TS]

00:49:32   when you did the jungle a few minutes [TS]

00:49:33   ago I got to wondering it's jacko's last [TS]

00:49:36   name the bully [TS]

00:49:38   Oh possibly it could be juggling his [TS]

00:49:44   yeah yeah his grandson which is back in [TS]

00:49:47   Southern California and unified theory [TS]

00:49:48   that's good that's good [TS]

00:49:51   yeah you will see where they had the [TS]

00:49:53   butt party federal figures into how that [TS]

00:49:55   connects somebody out there I'm sure [TS]

00:49:58   somebody out there in comfortable [TS]

00:49:59   listing land will make a chart like a [TS]

00:50:01   skeletal related shirt that charts how [TS]

00:50:03   all the movies conecto kind of dances [TS]

00:50:05   like he's in a block party [TS]

00:50:07   Melvin we see Melvin here Melvin dog [TS]

00:50:10   he's still alive elephant's alive [TS]

00:50:12   this is the part where our protagonist [TS]

00:50:14   split up for nonsensical reasons and [TS]

00:50:16   with no clear plan right right right so [TS]

00:50:19   dogs gonna it's very Scooby dogs Doc's [TS]

00:50:22   gonna hang out with Sheila Frankenstein [TS]

00:50:23   Dino is talking to his girlfriend [TS]

00:50:26   they're like they're like bonding he's [TS]

00:50:27   got this kind of girl that he's sweet on [TS]

00:50:28   from the from the bikini leopard tribe [TS]

00:50:32   so they're they're kind of bonding but [TS]

00:50:34   the doc is intrigued by this amazing [TS]

00:50:36   totally advanced science lab that he [TS]

00:50:40   wants to know more about and so he's [TS]

00:50:43   he's he's getting information from from [TS]

00:50:46   Sheila Frankenstein about about dr. [TS]

00:50:47   Frankenstein and the the longshoremen [TS]

00:50:51   are bringing in boxes we get a great cut [TS]

00:50:53   away here where there is a shirtless [TS]

00:50:55   asian man whose injecting a mannequin in [TS]

00:50:58   its I yeah that was great [TS]

00:51:01   may not also be in Tony's version i [TS]

00:51:03   don't know that was in there okay with [TS]

00:51:04   me I can't unsee how was your day [TS]

00:51:07   volition yes you don't agree that was [TS]

00:51:09   yellow minute things with like this is [TS]

00:51:12   gonna build towards something and it's [TS]

00:51:13   like no that is well into doing is [TS]

00:51:15   actually disturbing actually maybe cool [TS]

00:51:18   we do see him later that something bad [TS]

00:51:20   happens to that man later [TS]

00:51:21   he's the final its next Kurt during the [TS]

00:51:24   flight right here with me is a yeah he [TS]

00:51:28   Steve's Steve's favorite zombie we get [TS]

00:51:30   it we gotta cut away to the spinning [TS]

00:51:32   ammo box again so that's happening it's [TS]

00:51:34   spinning yes [TS]

00:51:35   it still not impressive i think this [TS]

00:51:37   time you can see the guy crouch down [TS]

00:51:38   underneath the to counter reading that [TS]

00:51:41   yeah a dowel yeah the Dalits really [TS]

00:51:47   diminishes it had drank was bad come on [TS]

00:51:49   man [TS]

00:51:50   he's down there Dowling now we never did [TS]

00:51:53   we get a lot of information about all [TS]

00:51:55   about what's happening with dr. [TS]

00:51:56   Frankenstein he's sending power from the [TS]

00:51:58   other realm it isn't just the power he's [TS]

00:51:59   sending power from the other side back [TS]

00:52:02   here that's what that's where the power [TS]

00:52:03   is coming from not not just any power [TS]

00:52:06   the power the power so the power here [TS]

00:52:10   the power the power she'll explain you [TS]

00:52:12   may have you may have heard of the [TS]

00:52:13   famous Frankenstein's monster well [TS]

00:52:15   unfortunately the monster my never [TS]

00:52:16   developed although its strength never [TS]

00:52:18   ceased so we had to chain him to the [TS]

00:52:20   reef down in the grotto and and we know [TS]

00:52:23   that they've seen saw something down in [TS]

00:52:26   the pool form down in the cave where the [TS]

00:52:29   other guys are seeing that and and john [TS]

00:52:32   carradine appears again know the policy [TS]

00:52:34   shall be given i should bring you the [TS]

00:52:36   power the power shall be given to you he [TS]

00:52:39   says john carradine says like eight [TS]

00:52:42   different eight different words but uh [TS]

00:52:44   he says I'm over and over again and then [TS]

00:52:48   something else strange happens he [TS]

00:52:50   appears and then some of the [TS]

00:52:51   longshoremen electrocute they have a [TS]

00:52:55   trident and they'll like electrocute one [TS]

00:52:57   of the other longshoremen and he gets [TS]

00:53:00   like Fang teach it's in fact yes these [TS]

00:53:02   are the plastic Dracula teeth you get at [TS]

00:53:05   the drugstore right next to the pitch [TS]

00:53:06   for you you can directly see they're [TS]

00:53:08   still connected in the back [TS]

00:53:10   yeah there they have the same like that [TS]

00:53:11   one trip to the 99 cent store if those [TS]

00:53:13   were thing back then yeah that scene is [TS]

00:53:16   not in the TV edit because it was [TS]

00:53:18   disturbing smash cut to 15 seconds of a [TS]

00:53:23   hypno disk [TS]

00:53:25   yeah maybe that part was cut out of the [TS]

00:53:30   movie and millions people actually got [TS]

00:53:32   it would be hypnotized yappy just a [TS]

00:53:35   safety precaution [TS]

00:53:36   strangely enough that's the last thing I [TS]

00:53:37   remember the movie i just woke up a few [TS]

00:53:39   hours later we get for my favorite lines [TS]

00:53:41   which is when the protagonist all [TS]

00:53:43   deciding what to do the bossy one I [TS]

00:53:46   can't remember any of their names says [TS]

00:53:47   we've [TS]

00:53:48   kind of rope that supports the roof of [TS]

00:53:50   that Hut yes because they're going to [TS]

00:53:52   build with gonna show me your moves now [TS]

00:53:54   it doesn't that's not how roadworks they [TS]

00:53:56   are going to build the thing they [TS]

00:53:58   delegate you're going to make the alien [TS]

00:53:59   bikini babes build their raft for them [TS]

00:54:01   and they just loaf around the hole that [TS]

00:54:03   i really want to see that hot and see [TS]

00:54:04   how rope is supporting its roof [TS]

00:54:06   I mean whoa whoa Monty we're gonna show [TS]

00:54:09   you how its next you want to see a raft [TS]

00:54:10   that we built like where does this [TS]

00:54:12   entire tip number five [TS]

00:54:13   yeah he's always never played Dungeons [TS]

00:54:15   and Dragons Monta you know what rope is [TS]

00:54:16   good for next I want a good shot of that [TS]

00:54:19   building they keep going to instead of [TS]

00:54:20   the dead tree in the foreground yeah [TS]

00:54:22   just what I kept thinking they were [TS]

00:54:23   looking at every time they were there [TS]

00:54:25   yeah money if playing dnd has taught me [TS]

00:54:27   anything it's that rope is a magical [TS]

00:54:29   snake that is your friend does whatever [TS]

00:54:30   you want and I hate you [TS]

00:54:32   yeah noted they go back and visit camera [TS]

00:54:35   initially the movie here this is I know [TS]

00:54:38   it really hasn't been that together [TS]

00:54:39   until now but this is where the movie [TS]

00:54:41   really starts to just break apart into a [TS]

00:54:42   series of disconnected and they revisit [TS]

00:54:46   Cameron Mitchell they're walking around [TS]

00:54:48   the beardy guy check catches them and [TS]

00:54:50   says follow me [TS]

00:54:51   Sheila Frankenstein runs into Dino and [TS]

00:54:54   chastises him they confront the doc who [TS]

00:55:01   says I'm talking about life you hear me [TS]

00:55:03   life they get these they kidnap a girl [TS]

00:55:07   to use as a test subject the order of [TS]

00:55:09   these scenes is just kind of meaningless [TS]

00:55:11   did I miss when van Helsing is ranting [TS]

00:55:13   and he sounds like Jewish grandpa he [TS]

00:55:15   morphed into a billy crystal therefore [TS]

00:55:17   hot guys I the hole 0 and the thing is [TS]

00:55:19   although yeah yeah I made a note that I [TS]

00:55:22   rarely say this but instead of john [TS]

00:55:23   kerry and they should have gotten [TS]

00:55:24   criswell haha very good the future [TS]

00:55:29   you're totally the future and great if [TS]

00:55:31   no future [TS]

00:55:32   oh this is an important scene for later [TS]

00:55:34   Melvin gets the Dino's girlfriends [TS]

00:55:36   pendant Dino's girlfriend is very sad [TS]

00:55:39   that her friend was kidnapped by the [TS]

00:55:40   lackeys this would be a great time to [TS]

00:55:43   make a try to advance your relationship [TS]

00:55:45   with her that that's that's that's how [TS]

00:55:47   amazon's like it I like it when they're [TS]

00:55:49   doing their friend has been abducted and [TS]

00:55:52   probably murdered that is when they like [TS]

00:55:53   being hit on is what i understand [TS]

00:55:55   there's no time for that Tony because we [TS]

00:55:56   gotta cut to a scene where beardy Jocko [TS]

00:55:58   and a goat or talking i like that scene [TS]

00:56:01   because it hasn't [TS]

00:56:01   it is a goat there two drunks and a goat [TS]

00:56:04   and yet this is a very moral or later [TS]

00:56:07   the drunks one go-to don't dress one [TS]

00:56:09   goat movie was slightly different when I [TS]

00:56:11   saw the box goat [TS]

00:56:12   well they then Jacko has a has a big [TS]

00:56:15   laughs and says you know you've got to [TS]

00:56:16   take that to the or no its beauty says [TS]

00:56:18   you you you I have to take this to the [TS]

00:56:20   the the house instead of and it's like [TS]

00:56:23   instead of having it for dinner haha oh [TS]

00:56:27   yes Jack oh it's funny but again twice [TS]

00:56:31   an hour until the autopsy they've got to [TS]

00:56:33   put the involving powder on the guy who [TS]

00:56:35   is in the aluminum tub the body it's in [TS]

00:56:38   the water and the aluminum tub which are [TS]

00:56:40   reinforcing what a big plot point that [TS]

00:56:42   will be [TS]

00:56:42   oh yeah it's gonna be major sometimes we [TS]

00:56:44   every time he reaches into that can i'm [TS]

00:56:47   expecting cocaine but it's just throws [TS]

00:56:49   into the thing okay that's my baby with [TS]

00:56:50   whatever i'm bob is however had so much [TS]

00:56:52   cocaine on the say that this is just [TS]

00:56:54   like this they can throw it in the [TS]

00:56:55   little tube with the the bathtub with [TS]

00:56:57   the guys that have been here this is the [TS]

00:56:59   extras so of things are moving fast now [TS]

00:57:03   back in the lab that girl who was [TS]

00:57:05   kidnapped she's dead she's uh she died [TS]

00:57:08   oh and they wish we could have saved her [TS]

00:57:10   yeah he's one of them a time convincing [TS]

00:57:12   yeah I'm convincing yeah it's a shame we [TS]

00:57:15   know there's one way you could have [TS]

00:57:16   saved her and maybe just not draining [TS]

00:57:18   all of her blood yeah what is an option [TS]

00:57:20   that you have a think these purple [TS]

00:57:22   bikini girls do you think they did that [TS]

00:57:24   hammock girl just by actually tying her [TS]

00:57:26   wrists and ankles to the trees let your [TS]

00:57:28   dangle therefore the shot don't think [TS]

00:57:30   though because that'll be really painful [TS]

00:57:32   it did that there was any support they [TS]

00:57:35   cut her down look it's everything Monty [TS]

00:57:37   Monty that was part of the initiation [TS]

00:57:39   which was an important key point that [TS]

00:57:41   was totally revisited later season I had [TS]

00:57:43   initiation once in toledo really part of [TS]

00:57:48   an initiation that's how you got onto [TS]

00:57:50   this film there were no equity your [TS]

00:57:52   representatives on this test so there's [TS]

00:57:54   more nonsense in with within Helsing [TS]

00:57:57   though there's a lackey 1 german guy the [TS]

00:57:59   guy who looks like you later bud melman [TS]

00:58:01   swifty Lazar polishing some boxes [TS]

00:58:03   including one of those blinking blinking [TS]

00:58:04   box we saw earlier is in a stack of box [TS]

00:58:07   blinking boxes that he's polishing very [TS]

00:58:10   carefully which is weird he's wearing [TS]

00:58:12   half sunglasses from forever 21 we get [TS]

00:58:14   like [TS]

00:58:14   seven minutes of scenes of him with his [TS]

00:58:16   mouth open just staring gansta clatters [TS]

00:58:19   on for so long I he sells me on what a [TS]

00:58:23   zombie would look like when he seeing [TS]

00:58:24   someone reanimated that I thought that [TS]

00:58:26   was that was a solid zombie performance [TS]

00:58:28   Sheila instructs them to turn on the [TS]

00:58:30   secondary coil and then we see the [TS]

00:58:32   spinning ammo box again this is like a [TS]

00:58:34   bad extra coil and an extra Jacob's [TS]

00:58:37   Ladder that's basically being turned on [TS]

00:58:39   to increase the voltage or something but [TS]

00:58:42   this is the point where one else gets [TS]

00:58:43   very angry because I they have think [TS]

00:58:46   that they don't need that Gotye they [TS]

00:58:48   send Jocko and beardy away with the [TS]

00:58:50   goats like we don't need any more goats [TS]

00:58:51   but dr. going more adventure dr. Sheila [TS]

00:58:53   Frankenstein are very proud that van [TS]

00:58:56   Helsing is feeling better because of his [TS]

00:58:57   blood transfusion and they gave him some [TS]

00:58:59   animal blood and he gets very angry sick [TS]

00:59:01   animal blood and you gave me animal [TS]

00:59:03   blood and she said but I thought and he [TS]

00:59:05   says you thought you're a woman you [TS]

00:59:07   can't if they had read my journals you [TS]

00:59:10   would know we tried this years before we [TS]

00:59:12   were born and it almost killed me [TS]

00:59:14   he's got 200 years of journals he's mad [TS]

00:59:17   they haven't memorized that well [TS]

00:59:18   survival tip don't use and good blood [TS]

00:59:20   it's a replacement for your own blood he [TS]

00:59:22   should have said like don't whatever you [TS]

00:59:24   do know and I'm blood but instead he's [TS]

00:59:26   just you totally read all my journals [TS]

00:59:28   right right Sheila right to a pill that [TS]

00:59:31   baby go [TS]

00:59:31   no they didn't need that kills no no [TS]

00:59:33   they killed other goods know there's [TS]

00:59:35   other goods that deco they sent back [TS]

00:59:37   there is no we don't need that go we got [TS]

00:59:38   all the goat blood we need you can send [TS]

00:59:40   out a way to go back to the chef yeah [TS]

00:59:41   actually looking Jacqueline drunkenly [TS]

00:59:43   wrangle a goat are actually was beardy [TS]

00:59:46   that had to wrangle to go was just to [TS]

00:59:47   keep him occupied there really is no [TS]

00:59:49   reason to make him go out and get it now [TS]

00:59:51   now they want to send a message to that [TS]

00:59:52   go they looked they brought into the lab [TS]

00:59:53   and said look at them this is what you [TS]

00:59:56   did to them [TS]

00:59:57   yeah we're encouraging lasota the goats [TS]

00:59:59   are going to [TS]

00:59:59   are going to [TS]

01:00:00   I'm be extinct soon on this island yeah [TS]

01:00:01   that go ahead kids it's boo boo but I [TS]

01:00:06   was not a goat so I didn't have to be [TS]

01:00:07   cows so John Carradine appears and this [TS]

01:00:09   is one of his better uh appearances he [TS]

01:00:12   uh he declares many things here [TS]

01:00:14   what sort of think Jason he says Oh [TS]

01:00:16   disciples in between the lines oh ye of [TS]

01:00:19   the golden thread he shall have its [TS]

01:00:21   power its power its paw our rocket power [TS]

01:00:26   yeah it's the golden thread the 12 lines [TS]

01:00:28   how the strength to lower the strength [TS]

01:00:32   of the power and the strength of our the [TS]

01:00:33   power know the power of what seemed like [TS]

01:00:36   a laundry detergent commercial you have [TS]

01:00:38   the power the power to remove stains [TS]

01:00:41   from loading oh the golden thread is [TS]

01:00:43   stained but the power may remove the [TS]

01:00:45   stain from the golden thread sweetie the [TS]

01:00:47   watch as I must get out of lines of tied [TS]

01:00:50   on this the power competition [TS]

01:00:54   this may be a bad time to ask this [TS]

01:00:55   question but what is what is the intent [TS]

01:00:58   of Frankenstein and van Helsing is there [TS]

01:01:00   actually something I missed or did the [TS]

01:01:02   director and writer simply miss [TS]

01:01:04   expressing there's nothing actually you [TS]

01:01:05   mean like what motives but what [TS]

01:01:07   motivates the characters well they're [TS]

01:01:08   they're continuing what's the outcome i [TS]

01:01:10   think they're continuing their their [TS]

01:01:11   experiments i think that's the idea is [TS]

01:01:13   that the scientific experiments on the [TS]

01:01:15   island are continuing and they're trying [TS]

01:01:18   to I forget whether they're trying to [TS]

01:01:20   bridge the gap to the afterlife or [TS]

01:01:23   whether they're just creating new life [TS]

01:01:24   or something like that it's science it's [TS]

01:01:26   science stuff just increasing human [TS]

01:01:28   achievement is there's also a hatch and [TS]

01:01:31   they have to like change in numbers and [TS]

01:01:33   yeah something like that and now a movie [TS]

01:01:36   a little bear you see Glenn nearly all [TS]

01:01:38   men can stand adversity but if you want [TS]

01:01:40   to test a man's character give him power [TS]

01:01:41   from the power of the power I was a [TS]

01:01:46   little of frightened by the signs but [TS]

01:01:48   then i remembered sciences never [TS]

01:01:49   frightened sciences we are writing we [TS]

01:01:51   learned a lot from these films I jaco is [TS]

01:01:54   singing drunkenly I enjoyed that seen a [TS]

01:01:56   lot choco just does things for a little [TS]

01:01:58   while for no reason [TS]

01:02:00   jaco what other reason do you need I was [TS]

01:02:03   jogging [TS]

01:02:04   yeah that's exactly right John Kerry [TS]

01:02:06   reappears I give the power of this [TS]

01:02:08   thread you shall have what we wish show [TS]

01:02:10   the power [TS]

01:02:11   they'll cameron mitchell is no longer in [TS]

01:02:14   his cell because they're taking his [TS]

01:02:16   blood 24 bond Helsing the body that [TS]

01:02:19   we've been putting in body in bombing [TS]

01:02:21   powered powder on every couple of hours [TS]

01:02:23   sits up he's done and what I'm in the [TS]

01:02:28   oven one of the girls screams he's a [TS]

01:02:30   he's got a moustache and a ponytail [TS]

01:02:31   which would make me scream if I if that [TS]

01:02:33   guy set up this is an important point it [TS]

01:02:35   establishes that one amazon is jittery [TS]

01:02:37   and screams she doesn't mind being [TS]

01:02:39   kidnapped for scientific experiments but [TS]

01:02:41   oh my god dude taking about if we will [TS]

01:02:43   never see that guy again that is the end [TS]

01:02:45   of that story arc right there so i hope [TS]

01:02:47   you enjoy this jet embalming powder guy [TS]

01:02:50   in an aluminum tub number three that's a [TS]

01:02:53   rabbit its wrapper tub guy [TS]

01:02:56   good job guy I just can't go over there [TS]

01:03:01   to pick up your check [TS]

01:03:02   I'm kidding there's no chance haha get [TS]

01:03:06   the back of the pickup truck to be going [TS]

01:03:07   back to civilization [TS]

01:03:09   my buddies are on a quest to get machine [TS]

01:03:11   guns they know there must be machine [TS]

01:03:12   guns out there because Sheila [TS]

01:03:13   Frankenstein was strangely specific in [TS]

01:03:15   saying that the only way to handle the [TS]

01:03:17   zombie lackeys is to cut them in half [TS]

01:03:19   with machine guns right down the middle [TS]

01:03:21   which seems like a real logical leap to [TS]

01:03:23   me but they have decided they are [TS]

01:03:25   totally gonna look for machine guns and [TS]

01:03:28   then they try to explain to the girls in [TS]

01:03:30   the leopard skin bikinis what a machine [TS]

01:03:32   gun is by saying it's about this long [TS]

01:03:34   shoot bullets in my baby has not heard [TS]

01:03:38   of a machine gun [TS]

01:03:39   Curtis is just completely flabbergasted [TS]

01:03:40   by that I think that there's a lot you [TS]

01:03:42   can say about this part of the movie i [TS]

01:03:43   mean i feel like i'm nothing that would [TS]

01:03:45   be less daring would insist that there [TS]

01:03:47   be some kind of discussion of a plan or [TS]

01:03:49   what the current motivation of the [TS]

01:03:51   protagonist is but like know these guys [TS]

01:03:53   are just they're you know they're not [TS]

01:03:55   going to have a conversation this is [TS]

01:03:56   gonna wander into danger with from [TS]

01:03:59   unclear what they're trying to do or [TS]

01:04:01   accomplish their plan was to get a [TS]

01:04:03   machine gun man and cut across and cut [TS]

01:04:05   uh zombie lackeys in half that's their [TS]

01:04:07   plan a real go-getters you know what [TS]

01:04:09   they wanted to tell starters [TS]

01:04:11   yeah and obviously then perhaps they'll [TS]

01:04:14   make a will take those half of zombies [TS]

01:04:16   and left them together and make a raft [TS]

01:04:18   who's that they might I thought this [TS]

01:04:19   point wasn't the raft finished that we [TS]

01:04:21   know that they finished the raft and [TS]

01:04:22   then they go down to say hey let's go on [TS]

01:04:24   the raft [TS]

01:04:25   and beauty dude says not now come back [TS]

01:04:27   tomorrow and then all this other crap [TS]

01:04:28   together they get mad and they get mad [TS]

01:04:30   doc because he's basically in any way in [TS]

01:04:33   with with Sheila Frankenstein at this [TS]

01:04:35   point mhm and there and there about to [TS]

01:04:37   there about to confront him once they [TS]

01:04:39   get the machine gun and then they they [TS]

01:04:41   begin their assault on the and stuff [TS]

01:04:43   happens off-screen here that we never [TS]

01:04:45   get to see but they begin the assault on [TS]

01:04:47   the house that I and well I don't know I [TS]

01:04:50   kind of would like to see means amies [TS]

01:04:51   get cut in half with the a Gatling gun [TS]

01:04:53   from the Civil War but it doesn't happen [TS]

01:04:56   yeah that's called the economics of [TS]

01:04:57   storytelling you probably also would [TS]

01:04:59   want to see people actually break down a [TS]

01:05:01   door [TS]

01:05:01   I mean what do you want to see that [TS]

01:05:02   where do you want to see Frank inside [TS]

01:05:03   because you don't have a choice you're [TS]

01:05:04   gonna see Frankie Stein we can't afford [TS]

01:05:06   to fire this thing [TS]

01:05:08   yeah yeah so I so they do the girl the [TS]

01:05:11   girlfriend of of Dino finds the dead [TS]

01:05:14   girl who was kidnapped and drained her [TS]

01:05:17   blood drained and she screams screams [TS]

01:05:19   alert beardy who catches her [TS]

01:05:21   oh man that's my favorite bit to what do [TS]

01:05:23   you like that because beardy hugs her [TS]

01:05:26   and then he turns to the camera and [TS]

01:05:28   gives this unbelievable cheesy great [TS]

01:05:30   yeah like I'm so not seen and i just i [TS]

01:05:33   laughed a little bit that's pretty [TS]

01:05:37   that's very also that's great that's not [TS]

01:05:40   a good way to running itself integrity a [TS]

01:05:42   stealth attack on on Frankenstein manner [TS]

01:05:44   is to just scream when you see a dead [TS]

01:05:46   body but that's what she does matter is [TS]

01:05:48   again period he brings her in she could [TS]

01:05:50   be the second transfusion because I of [TS]

01:05:53   course uh Cameron Mitchell is already [TS]

01:05:56   there giving his blood drained [TS]

01:05:57   it's perfect because they built two [TS]

01:05:59   different transfusion ramps in that set [TS]

01:06:02   and so it's perfect that they could have [TS]

01:06:05   a second character lay down on one [TS]

01:06:06   it's as if that was all meant to be [TS]

01:06:08   Cameron Mitchell recognizes her as his [TS]

01:06:11   daughter plot twist don't need a plot [TS]

01:06:13   before you can have it with a trip [TS]

01:06:15   sometime you just can you say twist and [TS]

01:06:17   then we'll edit that back area so it's [TS]

01:06:19   just sit in it in a shocking twist how [TS]

01:06:21   about that I allow it allows yes so [TS]

01:06:25   she's his daughter turns out he hasn't [TS]

01:06:27   been on the island for hundreds of years [TS]

01:06:28   in fact it's probably more like 15 or 20 [TS]

01:06:31   because he recognizes his daughter who [TS]

01:06:34   apparently he came ashore with and she [TS]

01:06:36   was then raised by the [TS]

01:06:38   tribe of the of the bikini ladies [TS]

01:06:41   apparently she's the only non alien of [TS]

01:06:43   them i guess or something [TS]

01:06:44   yes so which means her blood is going to [TS]

01:06:46   be ineffective in the in the transfusion [TS]

01:06:48   i would think but it doesn't really [TS]

01:06:50   matter he reveals that he says father [TS]

01:06:52   he's her father who told you the story [TS]

01:06:54   of the sea think child they slowed the [TS]

01:06:59   heavy at this point very exciting moment [TS]

01:07:01   the assault on the lab takes place where [TS]

01:07:04   the door opens and very slowly [TS]

01:07:07   our heroes lug in a giant machine gun [TS]

01:07:10   and walk right in the room and set it [TS]

01:07:13   down in the corner and and not say [TS]

01:07:16   anything and i think that may be the [TS]

01:07:18   worst shot in the entire movie because [TS]

01:07:21   it's entirely unclear why they did that [TS]

01:07:23   what their motivation is if the other [TS]

01:07:26   characters don't know how to react and [TS]

01:07:28   everything after that is especially [TS]

01:07:30   convoluted because you don't know what's [TS]

01:07:31   going on [TS]

01:07:32   it's almost like if there had been one [TS]

01:07:35   or two lines of dialogue we might have [TS]

01:07:36   understood what was going to happen here [TS]

01:07:38   they're hoping some zombies walking from [TS]

01:07:39   the machine gun and then they will cut [TS]

01:07:41   them down [TS]

01:07:42   yeah i think that the EU gotta live in [TS]

01:07:44   hope right you gotta live in hope and so [TS]

01:07:46   here that's the plan but yeah it isn't [TS]

01:07:48   completely shot it's a wide shot they [TS]

01:07:50   come in [TS]

01:07:50   nobody tries to stop them they've got [TS]

01:07:52   this huge machine gun problem that they [TS]

01:07:54   carry across the room and set it down [TS]

01:07:57   I and nothing and again no dialogue no [TS]

01:08:00   you know we're here to save you or [TS]

01:08:03   anything and then make sure get up [TS]

01:08:06   against the wall because you know we [TS]

01:08:08   will try to in half with this machine [TS]

01:08:09   gun that we've got I have a proposal to [TS]

01:08:12   make this seem more exciting [TS]

01:08:13   I don't think that's a prop I think [TS]

01:08:15   that's an actual machine gun and I [TS]

01:08:18   choose to believe it was loaded the [TS]

01:08:19   whole time that works for me doesn't add [TS]

01:08:22   to the drama of the scene but in the [TS]

01:08:24   reality of the actors the only reason i [TS]

01:08:26   disagree with You Monty is because [TS]

01:08:28   there's obviously no emotion in the [TS]

01:08:30   actors whatsoever so can agree with you [TS]

01:08:33   there [TS]

01:08:33   well they've been shooting this movie [TS]

01:08:35   for like 12 hours at this point so [TS]

01:08:37   drained of all energy and blood just [TS]

01:08:40   like the zombies that are very meekly [TS]

01:08:42   trying to break down the door which it [TS]

01:08:44   really just helps keep the kind of [TS]

01:08:45   knocking loudly but this is the only [TS]

01:08:47   time they actually felt like zombies to [TS]

01:08:49   me this is this [TS]

01:08:51   meet at the beginning of a zombie movie [TS]

01:08:52   where they can't break through anything [TS]

01:08:54   right yeah he's level ones all these [TS]

01:08:56   Raymond alright what else happens here [TS]

01:08:58   let's see the Gatling gun is brought in [TS]

01:09:01   we there's a really prominent thing on [TS]

01:09:03   the side of the wall that's a chart for [TS]

01:09:07   the brainwave sink that I want to [TS]

01:09:09   mention because that's just a great [TS]

01:09:10   chart the brainwaves think it's going up [TS]

01:09:11   bring week's ink really just get better [TS]

01:09:14   and better man yeah our technology just [TS]

01:09:16   improved by leaps and bounds the meter [TS]

01:09:18   was just so hot you couldn't believe it [TS]

01:09:20   there weren't able to get readings like [TS]

01:09:21   that on their meter somewhere around [TS]

01:09:23   here someone says please if he doesn't [TS]

01:09:25   have blood [TS]

01:09:25   he'll die which does not actually [TS]

01:09:28   uniquely described anybody like I'm not [TS]

01:09:31   a two-hundred-year-old scientists [TS]

01:09:33   assistant but I also i think need blood [TS]

01:09:37   uh I mean if I medical establishment can [TS]

01:09:41   be trusted [TS]

01:09:42   yeah i mean i haven't met you Monty but [TS]

01:09:43   you seem like you've got at least a [TS]

01:09:45   little bit of blood you that you're [TS]

01:09:46   relying heavily on that is to say okay [TS]

01:09:53   what was like this all day today they [TS]

01:09:55   tell us Rob signs monster off-screen [TS]

01:09:56   they they say that they cut five of the [TS]

01:09:58   long term and zombies 2 into 2 pieces [TS]

01:10:01   with the machine gun but we don't see [TS]

01:10:04   that part or hear it at least [TS]

01:10:06   well no because the machine gun is [TS]

01:10:07   jammed and they cut to a close up of the [TS]

01:10:10   woman holding up the bullets to go into [TS]

01:10:11   the machine gun and no wonder it's [TS]

01:10:13   jammed the hand is in the way move your [TS]

01:10:15   freedom and Zoning woman she didn't even [TS]

01:10:17   know what its machine gun looked like [TS]

01:10:19   until a few minutes but ever since like [TS]

01:10:20   this long and shoots bullets were you [TS]

01:10:22   talking about Sheila freaking slips out [TS]

01:10:24   the back door she turns on all of the [TS]

01:10:27   electrical things put in your contacts a [TS]

01:10:30   really weird like grin on her face and [TS]

01:10:32   put in the weird eye contacts and dr. [TS]

01:10:34   Frankenstein appears and then he says [TS]

01:10:37   like an incantation this is like Oh [TS]

01:10:39   grant that he be freed free do you can [TS]

01:10:41   be freed strength upon the name of the [TS]

01:10:44   golden thread ye shall have strength and [TS]

01:10:46   has written down jason i really hope you [TS]

01:10:49   took some notes yeah although i could [TS]

01:10:51   probably get out i was concerned that [TS]

01:10:52   was a memory I could probably do it from [TS]

01:10:54   memory to honestly I didn't write it [TS]

01:10:56   down to it challenged right now in fact [TS]

01:10:58   at one point in in a cave he has a [TS]

01:11:00   moment where you can see that he sort of [TS]

01:11:02   like mhm uh he like lyricist [TS]

01:11:05   wrote a little bit span and they use [TS]

01:11:07   that is fine why not [TS]

01:11:09   and Frankenstein's monster appears yeah [TS]

01:11:11   and we are treated to a montage of him [TS]

01:11:14   trying to get the hell out of the case [TS]

01:11:16   so it's in for a long time he he like is [TS]

01:11:20   in the cave he's got to get out john [TS]

01:11:21   carradine talk to him [TS]

01:11:23   there's ok the second weird scene [TS]

01:11:25   happens we're in this one second [TS]

01:11:28   john carradine a it like looks around a [TS]

01:11:31   sort of happy with himself that he's [TS]

01:11:33   woken up some frankincense monster and [TS]

01:11:35   then we see like a an image of Jupiter [TS]

01:11:37   and some other planets and these hands [TS]

01:11:39   are like making a little hand gesture [TS]

01:11:42   like jazz hands and they're red and then [TS]

01:11:44   your green and then there's a picture of [TS]

01:11:46   an eye and a ring of flames around it [TS]

01:11:48   all again with the video game sounds and [TS]

01:11:51   Frankenstein appears and and wanders [TS]

01:11:54   away [TS]

01:11:55   that's pretty standard stuff when you're [TS]

01:11:56   releasing the monster from the pool in [TS]

01:11:58   the cave I mean I've always happens now [TS]

01:12:00   that that Lagoon is a long way away but [TS]

01:12:02   it wouldn't mean Frankenstein thankfully [TS]

01:12:04   will be able to get across the island [TS]

01:12:07   pretty quickly even though whenever we [TS]

01:12:08   see Frankenstein he's really having [TS]

01:12:09   trouble getting across was just waving [TS]

01:12:11   his hands and very slowly moving but [TS]

01:12:13   there's other things happening while we [TS]

01:12:15   while we're watching his progress we're [TS]

01:12:18   also we see they try to they try to do [TS]

01:12:21   some tough love with doc who's been [TS]

01:12:23   doped up by sheila Frankenstein they say [TS]

01:12:25   you gotta you gotta snap out of it [TS]

01:12:26   she'll Frankenstein offers to release [TS]

01:12:28   their friends but then she just leaves [TS]

01:12:33   the room at that point and turns on a [TS]

01:12:35   bunch of things that make doc kind of [TS]

01:12:36   crazy a little bit [TS]

01:12:37   Jocko appears at this point and he waits [TS]

01:12:41   a silent it's a fairly silence he wakes [TS]

01:12:43   up he's kind of getting his life [TS]

01:12:45   together [TS]

01:12:46   he cackles one last time and then goes [TS]

01:12:48   to put the embalming powder on the guy [TS]

01:12:50   who sat up earlier and is immediately [TS]

01:12:53   strangled to death by Frankenstein he [TS]

01:12:56   was passing by very quickly [TS]

01:12:57   yeah Jason he died doing what he loved [TS]

01:13:00   laughing and click the guy playing [TS]

01:13:03   Frankenstein's monster is Frankenstein [TS]

01:13:05   it up so hard in this movement yeah his [TS]

01:13:08   elbows never bend his knees never been [TS]

01:13:11   it's lurchers a lot of you know [TS]

01:13:14   wow there's a lot of dropped plot [TS]

01:13:17   threads in frankincense island but i [TS]

01:13:19   think the biggest failure of delivery is [TS]

01:13:22   that Frankenstein this establishes this [TS]

01:13:23   unstoppable force of nature and he is [TS]

01:13:27   not as threatening when you put him in a [TS]

01:13:29   seat with other people and I thought [TS]

01:13:30   that was that yeah once he's in the lab [TS]

01:13:32   there's a huge fight going on and he [TS]

01:13:34   just stayed in the middle of it waving [TS]

01:13:36   his hands back and forth never touching [TS]

01:13:38   anybody until the guy like runs into his [TS]

01:13:41   arms and yes he's the one guy the show [TS]

01:13:44   trying to open up a mosh pit and it's [TS]

01:13:45   embarrassing [TS]

01:13:46   oh it's basically GOG in this movement [TS]

01:13:48   waves his arms around you actually have [TS]

01:13:50   to put you on your back with your right [TS]

01:13:52   arm in order to get yourself killed save [TS]

01:13:54   that is unfair but accurate so we've [TS]

01:13:57   reached the big the big fight scene [TS]

01:13:58   there's a the the Frankenstein barges in [TS]

01:14:01   on the on the lab the Gatling gun is [TS]

01:14:03   jammed so Frankenstein begins to attack [TS]

01:14:06   he knocked over some stuff flips over a [TS]

01:14:10   table real good there would be a [TS]

01:14:12   fantastic gift of it and flipping a tail [TS]

01:14:14   interested in an image object must die [TS]

01:14:16   here is a fight with lackeys where for a [TS]

01:14:18   very long time all we really see is like [TS]

01:14:20   the feet of our heroes and the lackeys [TS]

01:14:22   and they're like legs as they do a [TS]

01:14:24   little dance as if they're fighting but [TS]

01:14:26   we don't see a lot of it there is a wide [TS]

01:14:28   shot there's a there's some there's some [TS]

01:14:29   punches Kurt gets in some some cool like [TS]

01:14:34   jiu-jitsu kicks that he learned down at [TS]

01:14:37   the mall think there's a cave girl who [TS]

01:14:39   watch it on Amazon who watches curtain [TS]

01:14:42   to his karate kicks and then learns from [TS]

01:14:44   which this has to be the worst way to [TS]

01:14:46   learn how to do a karate campus and [TS]

01:14:48   watching Kurt do it but she learns to do [TS]

01:14:50   a critique it and like and mirrors it [TS]

01:14:51   and then his karate kicking people yeah [TS]

01:14:53   kind of [TS]

01:14:54   half-heartedly there's a deleted scene [TS]

01:14:56   in the movie black dynamite my favorite [TS]

01:14:58   comedies dynamite in which all of the [TS]

01:15:01   former prostitute sex i think their [TS]

01:15:03   current prostitutes start karate [TS]

01:15:06   fighting in a banquet and they're just [TS]

01:15:08   kind of moving their hands back and [TS]

01:15:10   forth in purposely cheesy chopping [TS]

01:15:12   motions and this somehow looks worse [TS]

01:15:15   than that deliberately terrible fight [TS]

01:15:17   now it's too it's terrible either the [TS]

01:15:20   things I like in this but are the the [TS]

01:15:22   shots of the legs going back and forth [TS]

01:15:24   are [TS]

01:15:24   are hilarious because it's just like [TS]

01:15:25   suffice it to say that they're [TS]

01:15:27   struggling and we're not going to show [TS]

01:15:28   any of it but my birthing it is what [TS]

01:15:30   Frankenstein does because he's wandering [TS]

01:15:32   around waving his arms he does [TS]

01:15:34   beardy runs into him and he kills beardy [TS]

01:15:36   that that is a thing that happens and [TS]

01:15:38   then any truest measure of a low-budget [TS]

01:15:41   film he picks up a glass and hurls it [TS]

01:15:44   against a wall smashing it very [TS]

01:15:46   dramatically and then he knocks over the [TS]

01:15:48   entire table that the class was on now [TS]

01:15:50   what's on that table plastic stuff [TS]

01:15:53   because they could really only afford to [TS]

01:15:55   break one item the rest of the stuff [TS]

01:15:57   they need to need to return to the [TS]

01:15:59   owners so he flips over that table and [TS]

01:16:01   nothing breaks because it's all just [TS]

01:16:03   like plastic jugs and cups now my [TS]

01:16:06   favorite part of the fight scene is that [TS]

01:16:08   Melvin wanders he does wags his tail and [TS]

01:16:11   then leighannsays what are you guys [TS]

01:16:15   doing okay cool i'll be out here [TS]

01:16:17   just water's out over and asked for a [TS]

01:16:19   new generation that was great that is [TS]

01:16:22   legitimately great that Melvin comes in [TS]

01:16:24   and we follow him around a little bit [TS]

01:16:25   and then he goes back away best actor in [TS]

01:16:27   the movie they say pin-to-pin [TS]

01:16:28   longshoremen guy down on the on the [TS]

01:16:31   blood board and there's something really [TS]

01:16:33   weird happened to a low Lackey has the [TS]

01:16:35   the plastic halloween Trident pitchfork [TS]

01:16:39   and and waves it over one of the Amazons [TS]

01:16:41   turning her into having those halloween [TS]

01:16:44   fangs but that's okay because then they [TS]

01:16:48   shoot her with a like disintegration gun [TS]

01:16:51   and she glows and vanishes and then they [TS]

01:16:53   shoot another any more of a [TS]

01:16:54   disintegration cardboard do it is a to [TS]

01:16:56   it is a tube and pop a little puff of a [TS]

01:16:59   powder comes out of it and she [TS]

01:17:00   disappears in the holster arrived in a [TS]

01:17:02   couple of days before shootings and then [TS]

01:17:04   another one they shoot they should [TS]

01:17:05   another girl with that which is [TS]

01:17:06   interesting because we've seen nothing [TS]

01:17:08   of this disintegration weapon before but [TS]

01:17:09   they've they've got out now [TS]

01:17:11   now the asian man we saw earlier with a [TS]

01:17:13   hypodermic needle in the mannequins I [TS]

01:17:14   he's going to use Hyper needle to kill [TS]

01:17:16   one of the one of the girls but he [TS]

01:17:19   stopped by the girl who's the snake [TS]

01:17:20   dancer [TS]

01:17:21   this appears to be shot in an entirely [TS]

01:17:23   different location at a completely [TS]

01:17:24   different time you make a mistake and a [TS]

01:17:27   spider because that's what happens is [TS]

01:17:29   she shows him her it her garter snake [TS]

01:17:31   he's terrified he slowly lowers himself [TS]

01:17:33   to the floor and she very clumsily puts [TS]

01:17:36   a tarantula on here [TS]

01:17:37   his chest and then lowers the snake down [TS]

01:17:41   toward the tarantula [TS]

01:17:43   suffice it to say we never see him again [TS]

01:17:45   so that must have been fatal somehow [TS]

01:17:47   that's how you kill someone yeah that's [TS]

01:17:49   how it works snake and it's taking [TS]

01:17:51   spider together a deadly combination [TS]

01:17:53   I don't have any problem with that yeah [TS]

01:17:55   Frankenstein knocks over a shelf and now [TS]

01:17:58   Sheila Frankenstein is worried because [TS]

01:17:59   the brain the brain in the tupperware is [TS]

01:18:01   going to be destroyed but dr. van [TS]

01:18:04   Helsing says it don't worry about it [TS]

01:18:05   honey if the brain is damaged another [TS]

01:18:07   one will activate in seconds of the [TS]

01:18:09   bracket the backup brain was here and [TS]

01:18:11   bring years ago just in case of this [TS]

01:18:13   very eventualities at which point the [TS]

01:18:15   brain kind of explodes in a puff of [TS]

01:18:17   small hole before that when when he's [TS]

01:18:19   explaining that in this is my second [TS]

01:18:21   favorite were shot of the movie after [TS]

01:18:23   the reading it running into the lab with [TS]

01:18:25   machine-gun clumsily is he explains that [TS]

01:18:27   expositional e2 Sheila Frankenstein and [TS]

01:18:30   then we slowly pan over to show one [TS]

01:18:32   amazon who overhears that was just [TS]

01:18:35   ending is fixing it so that it can be [TS]

01:18:37   repeated least explain it later that's [TS]

01:18:40   right so she's overheard it it's true [TS]

01:18:41   the brain explodes podcast is brought to [TS]

01:18:43   you by back brain on fast unwanted on [TS]

01:18:45   throttled bring backup you have a backup [TS]

01:18:48   brain Frankenstein and the lackeys all [TS]

01:18:50   collapse when the brain explodes and the [TS]

01:18:52   girl who just overheard that statement [TS]

01:18:54   says oh there's a backup brain it'll [TS]

01:18:56   activate in minutes you must go now take [TS]

01:18:58   the raft and go and bring back help [TS]

01:19:00   was it clear again I saw the TV and it [TS]

01:19:02   maybe it was hazy not because nobody was [TS]

01:19:06   there any explanation for why the brain [TS]

01:19:08   explodes they bumped it i think that was [TS]

01:19:11   that there's fighting around it and it [TS]

01:19:12   can fit and it exploded ok it's an [TS]

01:19:14   expression room with like six Jacob's [TS]

01:19:16   Ladder is going at all times okay things [TS]

01:19:19   are going to explore yeah they should [TS]

01:19:20   have put that brain like in a sturdy r [TS]

01:19:22   pedestal high green that the just [TS]

01:19:24   putting it under under glass is not [TS]

01:19:26   probably was not probably the way to go [TS]

01:19:28   so so they have to leave and so the girl [TS]

01:19:33   explains this and then kisses Kurt which [TS]

01:19:35   is not a relationship that they had [TS]

01:19:36   built up throughout the movie at all so [TS]

01:19:39   I guess ok ok here in a moment even even [TS]

01:19:44   you know in the middle of a giant zombie [TS]

01:19:46   prank inside fight even current looks [TS]

01:19:47   like an attractive person how can you [TS]

01:19:49   not [TS]

01:19:50   this corrects my question is not [TS]

01:19:51   infringe easily send Jason that is [TS]

01:19:54   that's the definition of fog before [TS]

01:19:55   right there ok thanks crazy happen all [TS]

01:19:59   right [TS]

01:19:59   mistakes were made you know wants to [TS]

01:20:00   take his girlfriend with him but she [TS]

01:20:02   can't leave because her she's learned [TS]

01:20:03   that does jason jason has her own father [TS]

01:20:06   so she has to stay and deals like okay [TS]

01:20:09   and then they leave [TS]

01:20:11   see babe smash cut city thanks for being [TS]

01:20:15   my Island squeeze i'm out here chasing [TS]

01:20:17   are you sure that smash but there might [TS]

01:20:18   be like a really long extended scenes [TS]

01:20:20   showing them getting on a raft perhaps [TS]

01:20:22   to see the RAF know I've agency managers [TS]

01:20:24   got to do something that might be san [TS]

01:20:26   diego or something similar a port city [TS]

01:20:28   it is a room and then my mother so [TS]

01:20:31   there's an establishing shot of a port [TS]

01:20:33   city and then we cut to is there [TS]

01:20:35   yeah yeah there's a there's a step and [TS]

01:20:37   sharper that and then we're in military [TS]

01:20:39   office where a military man in khakis [TS]

01:20:42   will call him the colonel is sitting [TS]

01:20:45   he's been site he signed up to be into [TS]

01:20:47   scenes this is a another character actor [TS]

01:20:49   who was a bunch of TV and he said [TS]

01:20:52   alright I'll Jerry war and i'll be in [TS]

01:20:53   your movie i if I'm only into sickness [TS]

01:20:55   and one of them is outside get off my [TS]

01:20:57   lawn and then we'll burn the pictures [TS]

01:20:59   right [TS]

01:20:59   sure this is the scene is great it's got [TS]

01:21:02   a great typewriter sound effect going on [TS]

01:21:04   through the entire scene which I thought [TS]

01:21:06   I just really appreciated clackety clack [TS]

01:21:08   clack clack the whole time and they try [TS]

01:21:10   to prove to the to the colonel that it's [TS]

01:21:12   real and he doesn't really believe [TS]

01:21:15   they're ridiculous story but this is [TS]

01:21:17   this is my favorite part he can't brush [TS]

01:21:18   off the reality of that raft those long [TS]

01:21:21   is long interval they're rooted in the [TS]

01:21:25   ground [TS]

01:21:26   oh wow and and there was a book in there [TS]

01:21:29   were your door handle the rest [TS]

01:21:33   it's so good it's see comfortable circle [TS]

01:21:35   graphs graphs explain everything the [TS]

01:21:37   craftsmanship of this raft is only [TS]

01:21:39   explainable by Amazonian aliens I must [TS]

01:21:42   see these Amazonian alien now had you [TS]

01:21:44   for yahoo has arrived on my Shore into [TS]

01:21:47   my base with some sort of inflatable [TS]

01:21:49   raft I wouldn't have bought over a [TS]

01:21:51   second but since it's made of logs and [TS]

01:21:53   then introduction looks up because it's [TS]

01:21:55   a lovely raft but what happened to the [TS]

01:21:57   inflatable when I gave you [TS]

01:21:59   mm it's a good question they have no [TS]

01:22:01   answer that but but [TS]

01:22:02   you know there's a reason as one of our [TS]

01:22:04   hero says so much has happened to that [TS]

01:22:07   the mind can't catalog it I i had that [TS]

01:22:10   problem too [TS]

01:22:11   I know what they nobody rejects a pose [TS]

01:22:13   missing [TS]

01:22:14   can you imagine the colonel they're big [TS]

01:22:16   they're literally having to explain the [TS]

01:22:17   plot of Frankenstein I went to this man [TS]

01:22:19   in order to get him to send a ship back [TS]

01:22:21   to the island and they can't do it's a [TS]

01:22:22   good thing they've got some logs to make [TS]

01:22:24   up the story i'd seriously is naturally [TS]

01:22:26   skeptical and then they poked this guy [TS]

01:22:28   in a sweater and a beanie and fangs grew [TS]

01:22:30   out of his face it was really weird the [TS]

01:22:32   first time you went to the cave you saw [TS]

01:22:33   this guy's face [TS]

01:22:35   what was it subliminal or no no no it [TS]

01:22:38   was just long enough we could see it [TS]

01:22:40   so why did that happen I will find out [TS]

01:22:42   but you could just see the log do we [TS]

01:22:44   tell you about the power of the [TS]

01:22:45   paralyzes the army yeah yeah I don't [TS]

01:22:48   believe how much this Miami 00 it [TS]

01:22:51   doesn't work here you know this guy in [TS]

01:22:52   the bathtub that popped up that just [TS]

01:22:54   sounds crazy but these logs are tangible [TS]

01:22:58   so cut smash cut again to back to the [TS]

01:23:01   island are four guys and the colonel and [TS]

01:23:06   a bunch of guys who are also parts of [TS]

01:23:08   the military and i say that because [TS]

01:23:09   they're wearing all of jackets and [TS]

01:23:13   pajamas and pajamas and de facto [TS]

01:23:17   military guys ever also point out that [TS]

01:23:21   this the the road the the metal robot [TS]

01:23:24   that they're getting out of is alway up [TS]

01:23:27   on the beach and I don't believe they [TS]

01:23:29   would all have fit in it but whatever [TS]

01:23:32   its military training I i said on one on [TS]

01:23:35   this lab I'm sure uh they they go into [TS]

01:23:38   the island to go through the caves [TS]

01:23:39   there's a very long amount of time where [TS]

01:23:41   they want walking back along the beach [TS]

01:23:44   and through the caves again it was a [TS]

01:23:45   nice callback to the very beginning of [TS]

01:23:47   the movie remember these memorable [TS]

01:23:48   location yeah oh yeah they go back out [TS]

01:23:52   there the girls hearts were gone are [TS]

01:23:53   gone they were right there and now we [TS]

01:23:56   see the reason that dead tree was in the [TS]

01:23:58   shot in front of the house every time [TS]

01:24:01   was so they could have a shot of it now [TS]

01:24:03   where it's in the in the shot and [TS]

01:24:06   there's no house behind Monty every [TS]

01:24:07   single time I think the shot is of the [TS]

01:24:10   triumph I know nothing its compact I'm [TS]

01:24:13   saying that they did that was what he [TS]

01:24:14   was trying to set up there but now [TS]

01:24:16   there's no house there and and the and [TS]

01:24:18   the colonel at this point is I can you [TS]

01:24:20   guys all hallucinate this in spite of [TS]

01:24:22   the fact that they're all looking at a [TS]

01:24:23   very casual dead tree and there's and [TS]

01:24:25   there's logs but with the logs and see [TS]

01:24:28   you can't just walk away and the colonel [TS]

01:24:30   says just walk away and he walks away [TS]

01:24:35   no no that's that's actually that's a [TS]

01:24:37   stage direction sir [TS]

01:24:38   nevermind and they're very upset how [TS]

01:24:42   could we have elucidated this meanwhile [TS]

01:24:43   the the so-called soldiers and the [TS]

01:24:46   colonel are leaving like are they [TS]

01:24:48   leaving their own the island are they [TS]

01:24:50   gonna go back with them it's unclear but [TS]

01:24:52   they they're a very concerned how could [TS]

01:24:54   we have gone through all this for grown [TS]

01:24:55   men and hey Melvin and Melvin the dog [TS]

01:25:00   appears to prove it was not all just a [TS]

01:25:01   hallucination and he brings back with [TS]

01:25:03   you and the medallion of Dino's [TS]

01:25:06   girlfriend so it's not everyone sort of [TS]

01:25:09   high-fives because this proves nothing [TS]

01:25:11   no but they may have just imagined it [TS]

01:25:13   imagined it all except for the medallion [TS]

01:25:15   that they found when they were it's you [TS]

01:25:17   know it's a little better still a better [TS]

01:25:18   in England lost so oh well hot take this [TS]

01:25:23   exam i just watched Frankenstein island [TS]

01:25:26   I'm i may not be upright mind so but [TS]

01:25:29   they're like oh well it turns out we [TS]

01:25:31   didn't imagine it because this medallion [TS]

01:25:32   totally proves everything really [TS]

01:25:33   happened let's very slowly walk away and [TS]

01:25:36   occasionally stop so that we can be in a [TS]

01:25:38   wide shot of the whole valley where this [TS]

01:25:41   movie was shot and that's the end of [TS]

01:25:44   Frankenstein island folks what happened [TS]

01:25:46   to Frankenstein tho have been Helsing [TS]

01:25:48   what happened to Sheila Frankenstein [TS]

01:25:49   where they going next [TS]

01:25:51   you know who my Frankenstein will be [TS]

01:25:55   back [TS]

01:25:56   no the director dies well but I mean the [TS]

01:25:58   character will be back they couldn't [TS]

01:25:59   quite kill the intellectual property [TS]

01:26:01   m250 and they tried yeah thanks i will [TS]

01:26:04   be back in any good friends so it's [TS]

01:26:06   gonna be Frankenstein island to backup [TS]

01:26:08   brain is water will be called and and [TS]

01:26:10   Frankenstein's monster will be out and [TS]

01:26:12   about and Shiites peninsula she can [TS]

01:26:16   steal a Frankenstein will have get out [TS]

01:26:18   her second best bottle of brandy do [TS]

01:26:20   seems less than sad that his alien baby [TS]

01:26:23   girl [TS]

01:26:23   and has disappeared well so I felt bad [TS]

01:26:25   for Dino because he's he's I mean I [TS]

01:26:28   think they're all wearing the same [TS]

01:26:29   wardrobe because they only have one [TS]

01:26:30   change of clothes out the entire movie [TS]

01:26:31   but his is the most conspicuously he's [TS]

01:26:34   still wearing his Christian yea even [TS]

01:26:35   after he's been rescued and then [TS]

01:26:37   returned to the island yeah that's right [TS]

01:26:38   he chooses to wear that haha i think [TS]

01:26:42   it's like Linus and his security blanket [TS]

01:26:44   that's his blankie from when he was [TS]

01:26:46   living at me again [TS]

01:26:48   ok so so this is Frankenstein island [TS]

01:26:51   what did you all think I've been [TS]

01:26:53   watching this movie every now and then [TS]

01:26:55   since I was in high school [TS]

01:26:57   tell me how you tell me how you feel now [TS]

01:27:00   that you've seen Frankenstein island [TS]

01:27:02   where does it hurt [TS]

01:27:03   show me on the show me on the movie [TS]

01:27:04   where you at where where to start this [TS]

01:27:07   had worse drum circles than burning man [TS]

01:27:10   you know what I there's so many little [TS]

01:27:16   bits and pieces of this movie that [TS]

01:27:18   filled me with delight and yet they were [TS]

01:27:22   strung together by these interminable [TS]

01:27:24   scenes of these for dorks tiptoeing [TS]

01:27:27   through the shrub yeah through the brush [TS]

01:27:29   walking very slowly through a dark cave [TS]

01:27:31   I feel like this could have been an [TS]

01:27:34   almost perfect [TS]

01:27:35   I don't want to use good bad but it you [TS]

01:27:37   know just kind of a cheeseball fun movie [TS]

01:27:39   to watch head they may be cut it down by [TS]

01:27:42   like 20 minutes and remove some of the [TS]

01:27:44   interminable loping around the island [TS]

01:27:46   kind of stuff so perhaps you would you [TS]

01:27:48   prefer that they follow this up with a [TS]

01:27:50   prequel movie that's more just Jacko [TS]

01:27:52   focused [TS]

01:27:53   yeah I'm up for that choco choco tacos [TS]

01:27:55   origin yeah how he lost the I there's no [TS]

01:27:58   reason to believe that choco couldn't be [TS]

01:27:59   back in a sequel [TS]

01:28:01   oh yeah no he died one well-read recent [TS]

01:28:04   realization [TS]

01:28:05   it's no use character she was gently [TS]

01:28:07   manhandled by Frank has done has not [TS]

01:28:10   have very good control of his arms [TS]

01:28:11   morally certain that choco is he's doing [TS]

01:28:14   fine i think this movie was about [TS]

01:28:15   bringing people back from the dead that [TS]

01:28:17   somebody said something about that at [TS]

01:28:19   some yeah that's true about Frankenstein [TS]

01:28:21   and Jocko go up it's all your buddy [TS]

01:28:24   comedy [TS]

01:28:25   yeah that they go to White Castle [TS]

01:28:26   Frankenstein says rare and Jocko goes [TS]

01:28:29   haha these two moves into the macarena [TS]

01:28:33   and doesn't know what to do next [TS]

01:28:34   yeah I you know I I wanted to [TS]

01:28:37   to love the movie and I can understand [TS]

01:28:40   why you do having seen it earlier in [TS]

01:28:41   life but just there's so much tedium and [TS]

01:28:44   I know but this is this is the thing [TS]

01:28:45   Steve is is I I'm not I i absolutely i'm [TS]

01:28:48   not making the case that this is the [TS]

01:28:49   most fun bad movie to watch [TS]

01:28:51   I think this is the worst badly i think [TS]

01:28:54   there are things in it like you I think [TS]

01:28:56   you you nailed it [TS]

01:28:57   there are things in it that are [TS]

01:28:58   amazingly terrible and funny and it is [TS]

01:29:02   also so incompetently done that there [TS]

01:29:04   are long stretches where you just wish [TS]

01:29:06   for death and for me that is what a [TS]

01:29:09   perfect bad movie should be your death [TS]

01:29:12   and then reanimation i have we just have [TS]

01:29:14   slightly different definitions of what [TS]

01:29:15   makes something bad movie but I I [TS]

01:29:17   understand where you're coming from [TS]

01:29:18   again I don't think this is a good bad [TS]

01:29:20   movie this is a this is this is a bad [TS]

01:29:22   bad movie with good about [TS]

01:29:24   mind-bogglingly good things in it [TS]

01:29:26   occasionally and that's because they [TS]

01:29:29   sprinkle on the imploding powder every [TS]

01:29:31   couple of hours i think i think maybe I [TS]

01:29:33   just need to watch it five or six more [TS]

01:29:35   times for it to get its hooks into maybe [TS]

01:29:37   really maybe the last third was worth [TS]

01:29:39   the first no hour or so of bullcrap [TS]

01:29:43   oh I don't know yeah that's probably [TS]

01:29:46   have sprinkled pretty liberally [TS]

01:29:47   throughout the entire run time I like a [TS]

01:29:50   good lab with wood paneling [TS]

01:29:52   oh yeah the lab and the neck wig I think [TS]

01:29:54   probably eliminate this group [TS]

01:29:56   yeah i mean any scene with the plastic [TS]

01:29:59   pitchfork is okay in my book [TS]

01:30:01   if the video game music is playing I'm [TS]

01:30:04   fully on well yeah and and i'm a fan of [TS]

01:30:07   random carradine his dialogue is [TS]

01:30:10   fascinating he has he has one scene [TS]

01:30:12   where he's just all its it's so it's so [TS]

01:30:16   bizarre it's like Oh disciples of the [TS]

01:30:18   twelve lines and children [TS]

01:30:19   you shall be burnished and and your [TS]

01:30:21   children shall be excoriated envy and he [TS]

01:30:24   just goes on and on and it doesn't make [TS]

01:30:26   any sense [TS]

01:30:28   I think he's ad-libbing yeah i think so [TS]

01:30:30   I don't think that's very much his yes [TS]

01:30:32   kind of [TS]

01:30:33   yeah i would give good odds that that [TS]

01:30:35   was actually recorded for a completely [TS]

01:30:37   different movie that actually had [TS]

01:30:39   something to do with the power that's [TS]

01:30:41   awesome would not be surprised it's [TS]

01:30:42   possible that's not a he-man movie now [TS]

01:30:45   that's never a favorite of the jury [TS]

01:30:47   Warren's style is coming up [TS]

01:30:50   things and mixing and matching and using [TS]

01:30:52   footage from other things so that is [TS]

01:30:54   totally possible so yeah any other [TS]

01:30:56   thoughts about Frankenstein island it is [TS]

01:30:58   a bet is a it as all great bad movies [TS]

01:31:01   are I would say it is a it is [TS]

01:31:04   incompetently made it's not like [TS]

01:31:06   something like kool Kat save the kids [TS]

01:31:07   were you have to ask if the person has [TS]

01:31:08   ever actually seen a film Jerry [TS]

01:31:11   warranted clearly seen films but still [TS]

01:31:13   it is spectacular and competence and [TS]

01:31:16   especially i would say its disregard for [TS]

01:31:18   any internal logic like the script does [TS]

01:31:21   not seem to care about anything they [TS]

01:31:24   just throw everything in and add [TS]

01:31:26   dialogue and they just it doesn't care [TS]

01:31:29   it doesn't care if it makes sense i [TS]

01:31:31   think i enjoyed it more more than Steve [TS]

01:31:33   uh and i think this is a pretty good [TS]

01:31:35   horrible movie it's uh it's not too long [TS]

01:31:37   it moves pretty briskly just when i felt [TS]

01:31:40   like i was maybe getting a little bored [TS]

01:31:42   something entirely nonsensical happened [TS]

01:31:44   i was back in and it turns out like [TS]

01:31:46   that's what i'm looking for is insanity [TS]

01:31:49   well its got that I'd like to give a [TS]

01:31:51   shout-out to my favorite moment in [TS]

01:31:52   Frank's island i think sums up [TS]

01:31:55   everything there's a woman strapped down [TS]

01:31:57   to the blood board at one point which is [TS]

01:31:59   you know the thing that happened ok they [TS]

01:32:01   strapped a woman down and her hands are [TS]

01:32:03   so obviously not [TS]

01:32:05   not even a little slider hands out of [TS]

01:32:07   that strap at any point and she doesn't [TS]

01:32:10   until one of the other guys comes over [TS]

01:32:11   and freeze her at which point she just [TS]

01:32:13   moved your hands out and it's your line [TS]

01:32:15   and I guess they just do things because [TS]

01:32:18   the script says so and no one questioned [TS]

01:32:19   it and nobody knows how acting works he [TS]

01:32:23   loses anything i loosen the straps [TS]

01:32:25   slightly and then she goes oh now i can [TS]

01:32:27   get my arms out and yeah you could [TS]

01:32:29   before it's no she was just intimidated [TS]

01:32:31   by sheila Frankenstein petrified when I [TS]

01:32:34   don't know who that is that two weeks to [TS]

01:32:36   really is that you don't even know [TS]

01:32:38   no no initial name what's her married [TS]

01:32:41   name is Frankenstein married games on [TS]

01:32:42   housing that I don't really know i'm so [TS]

01:32:44   confused by shields frankerz you and [TS]

01:32:47   what's with the coupon za what did you [TS]

01:32:49   get them why did she have it its she's [TS]

01:32:51   classy that way it was it was on the [TS]

01:32:53   schooner ah clay Jason Turner is a [TS]

01:32:57   shifty left Frankenstein sounds like it [TS]

01:32:59   should have been [TS]

01:33:00   yahoo sirius's follow-up [TS]

01:33:02   yeah it's a little like buffy the [TS]

01:33:04   vampire slayer like Willie I know it's [TS]

01:33:06   Frankenstein but this is Sheila [TS]

01:33:07   Frankenstein so it's going to be fine [TS]

01:33:09   it's not fine it's not nothing will ever [TS]

01:33:13   be fun [TS]

01:33:13   all i have to say is a jaco is just [TS]

01:33:18   remember Jocko keep in mind keep Jacko [TS]

01:33:20   near your heart at all times because I'd [TS]

01:33:24   like to believe there's always there's a [TS]

01:33:25   cackling drunken eyepatch pirate guy [TS]

01:33:28   inside all of us somewhere [TS]

01:33:31   the joy find the joy in life find the [TS]

01:33:33   joy like Jack oh here's what you do you [TS]

01:33:35   take a clip of big bang theory or two [TS]

01:33:37   and a half men and you replace all of [TS]

01:33:39   the left track with choco still works [TS]

01:33:43   Brian I think you mean haha what happens [TS]

01:33:51   to me I you say this is all the left of [TS]

01:33:54   his commitments in the first instance of [TS]

01:33:56   pirate legal and last that will you do [TS]

01:33:59   this film is neighbor pirate lingo what [TS]

01:34:02   happened to me [TS]

01:34:03   hey is now Jacko you lose the I so for [TS]

01:34:06   people out there [TS]

01:34:07   there it is available Frank stone island [TS]

01:34:09   on DVD i would highly recommend you [TS]

01:34:12   instead get the video on demand so you [TS]

01:34:15   get the video and the rifftrax together [TS]

01:34:18   from rifftrax it's good rifftrax it will [TS]

01:34:21   help you through those moments when [TS]

01:34:22   they're just walking without dialogue [TS]

01:34:24   for very long stretches of time the [TS]

01:34:26   jokes are pretty good as somebody who [TS]

01:34:28   loved this terrible movie for 20 years [TS]

01:34:30   and and actually when i interviewed joel [TS]

01:34:33   hodgson tres blue about mst3k for my [TS]

01:34:36   college newspaper I I i told them at the [TS]

01:34:38   end of the interview you've got to do [TS]

01:34:40   Frankenstein 14 mst3k and then whatever [TS]

01:34:43   two decades pass and look what happened [TS]

01:34:45   to rifftrax did it they did a really [TS]

01:34:46   good job i was very happy with it so [TS]

01:34:48   that would be a way to watch it or you [TS]

01:34:50   could just go to the home depot by [TS]

01:34:52   yourself a nice ball peen hammer and hit [TS]

01:34:54   yourself right in the center of your [TS]

01:34:55   forehead for about an hour and 35 [TS]

01:34:57   minutes back you'll see many of the same [TS]

01:35:00   thing and you'll have a ball team and [TS]

01:35:03   we're at the end and if you [TS]

01:35:04   when you come to you or coherent while [TS]

01:35:06   at a while at the home depot be sure to [TS]

01:35:09   pick up these items involving powder a [TS]

01:35:12   plastic trident [TS]

01:35:14   uh-huh hypno disc statue of Buddha and [TS]

01:35:18   some tangible logs and some lungs that's [TS]

01:35:21   a rope that holds that over there [TS]

01:35:23   handsome bro let's go downfall of this [TS]

01:35:25   film it was that at the end of it I [TS]

01:35:27   looked down and I didn't have a [TS]

01:35:28   ball-peen hammer so yeah I think that's [TS]

01:35:30   a solid move ok i'm here to help so bad [TS]

01:35:33   is what you're saying Steve mm the AIDS [TS]

01:35:36   border who can we bring like I think [TS]

01:35:38   maybe after i like it if I had watched [TS]

01:35:40   it with with pal [TS]

01:35:42   ha been far more entertaining because we [TS]

01:35:46   could have filled in the interminable [TS]

01:35:47   gaps with some wacky witnesses and I'll [TS]

01:35:50   bring my DVD down when i visit you next [TS]

01:35:52   and we'll just sit down likely thailand [TS]

01:35:55   I feel like after watching the rifftrax [TS]

01:35:56   which I did not do deliberately but i [TS]

01:35:58   did not want to soil this podcast with [TS]

01:36:01   me either reuse jokes i will probably [TS]

01:36:04   feel much differently about the film so [TS]

01:36:07   yes perhaps we should have it we should [TS]
