00:00:48   hello-o the great thing about our [TS]

00:00:51   podcast is it's a professional it's a [TS]

00:00:53   professional sounding podcasts and [TS]

00:00:55   professionally organized podcast me in [TS]

00:00:59   every sense except the the money part [TS]

00:01:00   right and inventory and we organize part [TS]

00:01:04   we put yes that's true with those two [TS]

00:01:07   notable exceptions [TS]

00:01:10   this is a very professional thing we [TS]

00:01:11   have going here yeah it's it's not a [TS]

00:01:13   website remember what having a website [TS]

00:01:15   meant you were like officially you [TS]

00:01:16   really arrived [TS]

00:01:17   do I ever i remember when having I [TS]

00:01:19   remember when getting a website was a [TS]

00:01:21   forty thousand dollar proposition [TS]

00:01:23   oh and you have like a flash animated [TS]

00:01:25   bear holding it holding a bunch of [TS]

00:01:27   balloons child but the long winters you [TS]

00:01:33   should do that that would be sweet like [TS]

00:01:35   it with the bear look like you little [TS]

00:01:36   bear with the balloons kind of going up [TS]

00:01:38   and down animated my eyelashes may not [TS]

00:01:42   view the internet I can't believe it's [TS]

00:01:50   still around [TS]

00:01:51   you know it barely is not what God [TS]

00:01:54   alright John was the internet barely [TS]

00:01:56   what's going on [TS]

00:01:57   haha i don't even care I don't even care [TS]

00:02:00   to talk about the internet I I feel like [TS]

00:02:03   I feel like they're bigger fish to fry [TS]

00:02:06   atta boy in the world there are bigger [TS]

00:02:08   fish to fry [TS]

00:02:09   bears love fish I was thinking the other [TS]

00:02:12   day i was thinking the other day I am [TS]

00:02:15   got you know what i'm going to i'm [TS]

00:02:17   changing i'm changing my tune [TS]

00:02:18   I'm changing course I realized that I I [TS]

00:02:25   now I'm going to work the rest of my [TS]

00:02:27   life that in order to pursue the the end [TS]

00:02:33   goal of having the US Congress be [TS]

00:02:38   composed entirely of women huh i think [TS]

00:02:43   if we had if we had an all-female [TS]

00:02:46   because there have been there were many [TS]

00:02:47   many many decades where it was all men [TS]

00:02:49   right and yet patty Murray to patty [TS]

00:02:53   Murray an amazing senator shirokino and [TS]

00:02:56   tennis shoes at her she's the mom and [TS]

00:02:57   tennis shoes that's right Maria Cantwell [TS]

00:02:59   the other Washington State the junior [TS]

00:03:00   washington state senator also a great a [TS]

00:03:02   great lady I feel like if the Congress [TS]

00:03:05   if the House and Senate were all women [TS]

00:03:08   the country would be run better and [TS]

00:03:12   there would be it would just in in [TS]

00:03:14   general I mean picture for a second [TS]

00:03:16   in general the quality of life in [TS]

00:03:19   America would skyrocket [TS]

00:03:22   I don't think there's I don't think [TS]

00:03:23   there's any you can't make a case [TS]

00:03:25   against an all-female Congress through [TS]

00:03:28   and I'm not you know half of them will [TS]

00:03:33   be Republicans let's just say that right [TS]

00:03:36   off the truck off the top half of them [TS]

00:03:37   are going to be you know you're gonna be [TS]

00:03:39   Phyllis shapely style [TS]

00:03:42   well when I think we're looking at cases [TS]

00:03:46   right but uh but I think in general all [TS]

00:03:51   of the whole Congress all women maybe [TS]

00:03:53   maybe like a couple of token guys and I [TS]

00:03:59   think that I think to take the United [TS]

00:04:00   States will only benefit so that's my [TS]

00:04:02   new project through which you do this [TS]

00:04:05   via Democratic means or will there be a [TS]

00:04:08   coup d'état that has to be it has to be [TS]

00:04:11   Democratic in order to keep the flavor [TS]

00:04:13   of america and I had a little Democratic [TS]

00:04:15   for sure and and the honest honest to [TS]

00:04:17   god fact is that i cannot like in order [TS]

00:04:20   to achieve this goal i actually have to [TS]

00:04:23   like I it's not going to work if if [TS]

00:04:26   there's some guy behind it [TS]

00:04:28   yeah things that's also so what what I [TS]

00:04:31   have to do what it is [TS]

00:04:32   is basically as I have to voluntarily [TS]

00:04:36   step aside and not run for Congress not [TS]

00:04:41   run for the Senate in order to make [TS]

00:04:43   space for a more qualified woman ladies [TS]

00:04:46   first [TS]

00:04:47   that's right here truly are a gentleman [TS]

00:04:49   so i'm i'm making this sacrifice kind of [TS]

00:04:52   in with some ways what would be the [TS]

00:04:53   ultimate sacrifice in order and will not [TS]

00:04:56   remember not not running for Congress [TS]

00:04:58   without your ultimate sacrifice not [TS]

00:05:00   running for Congress it for me would be [TS]

00:05:02   the ultimate sacrifice all the way from [TS]

00:05:04   but some gave all I decided to not do [TS]

00:05:12   something about it yeah love but I have [TS]

00:05:14   a mouth full of peanut butter [TS]

00:05:16   I made cookies this morning [TS]

00:05:20   first first took you have eaten in a [TS]

00:05:21   long time and it's a cookie that i found [TS]

00:05:23   it when I was cleaning out the van and I [TS]

00:05:28   was like I don't want to throw this away [TS]

00:05:30   i don't know how old it is but I don't [TS]

00:05:31   want to throw it away it seems like a [TS]

00:05:32   waste of a good cookie so I kept it [TS]

00:05:34   around for a couple of weeks in a jar [TS]

00:05:36   and then I was like this morning i don't [TS]

00:05:40   know i was feeling vulnerable i ate the [TS]

00:05:42   cookie and I don't know what happens [TS]

00:05:45   when cookie is like six months old [TS]

00:05:47   whether the salt in it kind of condenses [TS]

00:05:49   I think it can sit up on its own [TS]

00:05:51   maybe maybe through salt from the air [TS]

00:05:53   huh [TS]

00:05:54   it was a very salty cookie was it out in [TS]

00:05:56   the open John was just a van cookie just [TS]

00:05:59   kind of out out know it's there wasn't [TS]

00:06:01   like it's not it's not like it felt [TS]

00:06:02   between the seat cushions no it wasn't [TS]

00:06:04   it was in a cookie bag who but it was [TS]

00:06:07   the it was a solitary cookie in a cookie [TS]

00:06:09   bag maybe it's just the Christmas [TS]

00:06:12   talking but that seems very sad and [TS]

00:06:13   graduated [TS]

00:06:14   yeah I didn't and it was good but boy [TS]

00:06:16   salty and I have to watch my salt intake [TS]

00:06:19   now why is that well you know i I'm I'm [TS]

00:06:24   aging so fast [TS]

00:06:27   alright i went to the doctor the other [TS]

00:06:30   day first time in a long time and the [TS]

00:06:33   the the nurse [TS]

00:06:37   weighs and measures me and I swear to [TS]

00:06:43   you I have no idea if this is even [TS]

00:06:44   possible but i have lost an inch in [TS]

00:06:47   height now I don't vertically [TS]

00:06:51   yeah I don't have osteoporosis I'm up my [TS]

00:06:55   spine is not collapsing I don't see [TS]

00:06:57   house your house John you're just [TS]

00:06:58   settling in its it was extremely [TS]

00:07:01   unsettling i was there i was there 10 [TS]

00:07:03   see the doctor about a thing that was [TS]

00:07:06   but deviling me but as soon as this dose [TS]

00:07:08   gives me this this diagnosis of being [TS]

00:07:12   one inch shorter than I ever was [TS]

00:07:15   I now I didn't care about whatever the [TS]

00:07:18   problem was that got me to the doctor [TS]

00:07:19   and all i wanted to talk about was how [TS]

00:07:21   that's possible [TS]

00:07:22   the doctor guy was sitting in the [TS]

00:07:23   waiting for sitting in the examination [TS]

00:07:25   room and the doctor comes in and said so [TS]

00:07:27   tell me about what brought you in here [TS]

00:07:29   today and I said I don't want to talk [TS]

00:07:30   about that anymore i want to talk about [TS]

00:07:32   your uh your height at your height scale [TS]

00:07:37   and how it is broken and so she measured [TS]

00:07:40   me again [TS]

00:07:41   actually it was a nurse practitioner [TS]

00:07:42   probably pulled in the big guns [TS]

00:07:46   she measured me again and she was like [TS]

00:07:47   sorry and always tell you [TS]

00:07:49   oh my god John that must be really a [TS]

00:07:51   disquieting i I don't I there i have no [TS]

00:07:55   context for it because like for example [TS]

00:07:57   I there are people in my family that I [TS]

00:08:00   guess I don't associate process but you [TS]

00:08:02   know when you get old you get smaller [TS]

00:08:04   yes I don't claim to understand it it [TS]

00:08:06   happened to my dad he was not that he [TS]

00:08:09   was not the tower towering man he was in [TS]

00:08:12   his in his later years he had lost an [TS]

00:08:15   inch or two but I am NOT not an old man [TS]

00:08:19   who is shrinking in his shoes I don't [TS]

00:08:22   know if you don't get a second opinion [TS]

00:08:23   I mean something others i got a second [TS]

00:08:26   opinion from a nurse practitioner I'm [TS]

00:08:28   very disquieted that's very disquieting [TS]

00:08:29   John that that's that you're right that [TS]

00:08:31   should be something where you know let's [TS]

00:08:33   kick this other thing down the lane a [TS]

00:08:35   little bit and talk about my height [TS]

00:08:36   yeah it's yeah right high blood pressure [TS]

00:08:39   can wait [TS]

00:08:40   yeah overworked and not for the time [TS]

00:08:42   yeah hot see all these things it's [TS]

00:08:45   usually worse for your blood pressure [TS]

00:08:47   than knowing you're getting short [TS]

00:08:48   thank you [TS]

00:08:49   I was washing my hands at the sink the [TS]

00:08:51   other day of my back went out [TS]

00:08:52   I just need to lay on the floor [TS]

00:08:59   I'll be fine no no you go ahead I'll [TS]

00:09:03   catch up [TS]

00:09:05   it's the worst I need to use the toilet [TS]

00:09:07   anyway yeah you know it's not die at I [TS]

00:09:11   it's not that I need to start working [TS]

00:09:13   out in order to get lean so that i can [TS]

00:09:16   look good at the beach or whatever i'm [TS]

00:09:19   not just start working out just to [TS]

00:09:20   survive and not become elephant have to [TS]

00:09:23   start working out just so that I can [TS]

00:09:25   wash my hands at the sink and not [TS]

00:09:27   collapse into a pile of nervous yes we [TS]

00:09:30   need compensatory and washing muscles [TS]

00:09:32   the thing is maybe maybe you can you get [TS]

00:09:35   a standing desk [TS]

00:09:36   yeah fuck you get one of those those [TS]

00:09:39   backwards chairs where your kind of [TS]

00:09:41   kneeling all down like a yoga ball that [TS]

00:09:43   was hit on a yoga ball [TS]

00:09:44   yeah yeah I think you should get a [TS]

00:09:45   lectern or a pulpit but if you do [TS]

00:09:47   whatever your work is if you did that [TS]

00:09:48   from a standing position but instead of [TS]

00:09:50   one of those hipster standing desks or a [TS]

00:09:52   treadmill desk you can do it from an [TS]

00:09:54   actual pulpit your genuine pulpit and [TS]

00:09:56   maybe then get a really giant yoga ball [TS]

00:10:00   like that tall yoga ball that seemed [TS]

00:10:05   like it was very hard to balance on with [TS]

00:10:06   their condition [TS]

00:10:08   well I wouldn't actually sit on top of [TS]

00:10:10   it i was just going to lean back on you [TS]

00:10:12   ok so the thing is is it really was it [TS]

00:10:14   really clicked a full inch the chips are [TS]

00:10:17   ya an inch in height i was always [TS]

00:10:20   six-foot-three endless and a smidge six [TS]

00:10:24   six foot three and an 8 or something and [TS]

00:10:27   I'm sitting at the sitting here in the [TS]

00:10:29   guy says how tall are you 64 3 and he [TS]

00:10:33   says yeah you know it up against the [TS]

00:10:34   wall and he measures me and I'm six foot [TS]

00:10:36   two and then ate well [TS]

00:10:40   six-foot-two is the height of a normal [TS]

00:10:43   guy that's a normal guys I know you're [TS]

00:10:48   officially not special anymore [TS]

00:10:49   six foot three ways you is someone who's [TS]

00:10:51   tall six-foot-three is extraordinary [TS]

00:10:53   six-foot-three is switching to this [TS]

00:10:56   special category of people that [TS]

00:10:57   legitimately can walk around [TS]

00:10:59   like like normal rules don't apply [TS]

00:11:03   uh-huh they can sort of just just lumber [TS]

00:11:06   into a room and expect that special [TS]

00:11:08   compensation will be made six sue is [TS]

00:11:11   like having 22,000 frequent flyer miles [TS]

00:11:13   yeah it's it's like just got ever it's [TS]

00:11:16   like hey welcome to take a seat [TS]

00:11:18   take it take a seat anywhere over there [TS]

00:11:19   like what would take a seat [TS]

00:11:21   what are you talking about I'm six foot [TS]

00:11:23   three no I'm sorry sir you're [TS]

00:11:25   six-foot-two take a seat anywhere and [TS]

00:11:28   that's the way they'll start talking to [TS]

00:11:29   you and nothing like what's already [TS]

00:11:32   happening and I just didn't realize I [TS]

00:11:34   had lost this inch all you have a shaman [TS]

00:11:37   line moment it's all flashing back by [TS]

00:11:39   and you're realizing everything makes [TS]

00:11:40   the hell why why did I end up riding the [TS]

00:11:42   bus the other day us because I'm a [TS]

00:11:44   normal height person that I have the [TS]

00:11:45   dignity is just standing around I was [TS]

00:11:49   like oh it's really long way up the hill [TS]

00:11:50   maybe I should take the bus [TS]

00:11:52   maybe it's all hollering for this is [TS]

00:11:55   really this is very upsetting especially [TS]

00:11:56   around the holidays to learn something [TS]

00:11:58   like that [TS]

00:11:58   did your clothes fit different and [TS]

00:12:00   because the things you've been losing [TS]

00:12:01   weight so you might not have noticed an [TS]

00:12:03   inch of Los well and so that's what I'm [TS]

00:12:06   one I'm kind of wondering did I'll in [TS]

00:12:09   losing all this weight that I lose some [TS]

00:12:10   fat in my spine probably had a fatty an [TS]

00:12:13   OB spine I had like fat in my knees and [TS]

00:12:15   my joints and it was making me an inch [TS]

00:12:17   taller but that doesn't explain what I [TS]

00:12:18   was I mean I reached the I reached my my [TS]

00:12:22   normal height my actual height of six [TS]

00:12:25   foot three and a smidge in my eighties [TS]

00:12:28   and I had no there were no there's no [TS]

00:12:31   fat in between my joints then we're all [TS]

00:12:34   set goals and carbohydrates back then i [TS]

00:12:35   have to ask the second when they read [TS]

00:12:37   measured i'm curious because I know if [TS]

00:12:39   it were me I would be doing stuff to try [TS]

00:12:42   and be taller [TS]

00:12:43   no no I didn't you know I didn't want to [TS]

00:12:45   I didn't want to game the system i [TS]

00:12:46   wanted to be I wanted to be an actual [TS]

00:12:48   measurement of my height but now I'm [TS]

00:12:50   wondering whether I shouldn't have stood [TS]

00:12:51   up to little taller you never did that [TS]

00:12:52   before never had to know that's the [TS]

00:12:55   thing you just you stand up there and [TS]

00:12:57   you're slouch a little bit just like [TS]

00:12:59   yeah I don't give a fuck i can even [TS]

00:13:01   slouch a little bit and i'm still over 6 [TS]

00:13:03   30 but not now [TS]

00:13:05   [Music] [TS]

00:13:06   now i'm going to be one of these guys [TS]

00:13:08   that straining you can see his neck [TS]

00:13:09   muscles straining when he's getting [TS]

00:13:10   major to the doctor but that's not [TS]

00:13:14   that's not what I'm yeah because it's [TS]

00:13:16   like it's the difference between like [TS]

00:13:17   they take a seat and he won't be [TS]

00:13:19   carefully made throughout your back you [TS]

00:13:21   don't stretch too much now was this [TS]

00:13:23   concerning to the medical staff at this [TS]

00:13:25   facility know they were laughing they're [TS]

00:13:27   just little shocking because they're [TS]

00:13:30   they're all they're all normal they're [TS]

00:13:32   all really normal people they're all in [TS]

00:13:33   there five it's a form of medical shot [TS]

00:13:35   in friday i'm glad to see that come down [TS]

00:13:37   and yeah that's right anything this is [TS]

00:13:39   the thing i don't think there's anybody [TS]

00:13:40   who doesn't want to see a six foot three [TS]

00:13:43   guys to get told he's 62 harrison [TS]

00:13:45   bergeron it's all over again this is [TS]

00:13:48   sickening a six foot six guy is going to [TS]

00:13:51   be happy to see me cut down an inch [TS]

00:13:54   because haha fuck me right i mean like i [TS]

00:13:57   was like you know Shawn Nelson was never [TS]

00:13:59   impressed by my 643 pneus being [TS]

00:14:03   six-foot-five and that's not counting [TS]

00:14:04   the hair [TS]

00:14:05   he's fine to see me get knocked down an [TS]

00:14:08   inch every guy that's five foot eleven [TS]

00:14:09   can't wait to see an inch lopped off of [TS]

00:14:12   me [TS]

00:14:12   there is no no one has any sympathy I i [TS]

00:14:15   can think of two people that I saw you [TS]

00:14:17   playing a bandwidth in the last few [TS]

00:14:18   weeks that are really happy to turn in [TS]

00:14:20   shorter and about Sean's what about I'm [TS]

00:14:26   so I'm I'm really I'm really like I'm [TS]

00:14:30   and I'm i'm annoyed because I feel like [TS]

00:14:32   I feel like it's probably a calibration [TS]

00:14:35   problem who that that what happened was [TS]

00:14:38   the the floor of the hospital rose up an [TS]

00:14:40   inch relative to the walls and nobody [TS]

00:14:44   was nobody has checked it now you should [TS]

00:14:46   you should definitely go someplace else [TS]

00:14:48   I mean testing twice in that same know [TS]

00:14:49   what if that's a tainted facility like [TS]

00:14:51   you say maybe they've got maybe they got [TS]

00:14:53   some structural issues you know maybe [TS]

00:14:55   it's some kind of metric thing you [TS]

00:14:56   should definitely get retested somewhere [TS]

00:14:58   i don't i don't want to go get tested [TS]

00:14:59   and like a drug store or something like [TS]

00:15:01   that because then it's done everybody [TS]

00:15:03   that standing around just people walking [TS]

00:15:04   around buying pretty peanut brittle [TS]

00:15:06   yeah but it's not trying to sell you [TS]

00:15:08   stuff you had John Corbett is talking to [TS]

00:15:11   over the over the PA that that I like [TS]

00:15:14   that click kelly clarkson song by the [TS]

00:15:15   way I i think i might have to disagree [TS]

00:15:17   with you on this one you like which [TS]

00:15:19   kelly you know [TS]

00:15:20   like that one song about all i want is [TS]

00:15:22   you under the underneath the tree you [TS]

00:15:23   don't like that song you know I'm [TS]

00:15:24   telling you sex and Christmas have no [TS]

00:15:27   business being in the same room [TS]

00:15:28   well I I no wait a minute aren't you one [TS]

00:15:30   of those people that likes likes a [TS]

00:15:32   Christmas porn see I have a strong [TS]

00:15:36   feeling on Christmas porn I'm very much [TS]

00:15:38   against it [TS]

00:15:39   what would you describe as Christmas [TS]

00:15:40   being any anyporn that has a Christmas [TS]

00:15:42   element i think if you have intercourse [TS]

00:15:44   with the lady in a santa hat that's [TS]

00:15:46   definitely in like the pictures of that [TS]

00:15:48   I don't care for you don't like pictures [TS]

00:15:51   of people having sex with the where the [TS]

00:15:53   woman is in a santa hat that's that [TS]

00:15:57   covers so much of what's out there in [TS]

00:15:59   the world that I wouldn't want to just [TS]

00:16:01   reject it out of hand i just right I can [TS]

00:16:03   take the backlash right was I know it's [TS]

00:16:05   the tech it's very hot normative what [TS]

00:16:08   about asian girl in santa hat [TS]

00:16:10   okay well eaten Santa have but I'm gonna [TS]

00:16:17   not gonna touch it not going to get a [TS]

00:16:19   little and the problem is you can't have [TS]

00:16:21   Christmas an hour later you have this [TS]

00:16:22   guy over here we got the soup haha [TS]

00:16:25   that's like says do it not being not be [TS]

00:16:30   that is that is really now I could see [TS]

00:16:38   this happening to you I i don't want to [TS]

00:16:41   sound device if I could see this [TS]

00:16:42   happening to you when you get to be [TS]

00:16:44   about another 10 years older [TS]

00:16:47   I think that with the weights I'm gonna [TS]

00:16:49   be five foot eight here in a little no [TS]

00:16:51   no no no what I'm trying to say is i [TS]

00:16:53   think i think they've you have [TS]

00:16:54   legitimately lost an inch i think it's [TS]

00:16:55   just it's there's gotta be something [TS]

00:16:57   wrong that does not that does not i [TS]

00:17:00   don't know that's a lie that's a lot of [TS]

00:17:02   inch that's exactly prime of my life [TS]

00:17:04   when I'm out [TS]

00:17:06   you know what i was doing the other day [TS]

00:17:07   was out shopping for four-by-fours look [TS]

00:17:09   at you now guy doesn't go buy a new [TS]

00:17:12   four-by-four just to consecrate affected [TS]

00:17:14   his floor [TS]

00:17:15   you sound like someone interacts have [TS]

00:17:17   this hooked or so what I'm not racing [TS]

00:17:19   cars are sipping [TS]

00:17:22   I and so huh [TS]

00:17:28   but the the staff when I got done [TS]

00:17:30   laughing and professionally they were [TS]

00:17:32   not worried that this was that you were [TS]

00:17:34   getting soft bones or something they [TS]

00:17:36   gave every impression of not believing [TS]

00:17:38   that I had ever been six through that is [TS]

00:17:44   calling [TS]

00:17:45   they were just like oh well hmm so now [TS]

00:17:49   you also takes a little i can also [TS]

00:17:52   selling an old man who lies about his [TS]

00:17:53   past [TS]

00:17:54   yeah it's like it's like okay well let's [TS]

00:17:56   see it's a it's not likely that you lost [TS]

00:17:59   an inch in height so the only [TS]

00:18:02   explanation is that you are either lying [TS]

00:18:05   about your height as a grown man or that [TS]

00:18:10   you have never known your height right [TS]

00:18:12   and at some point in your teen years [TS]

00:18:15   developed a fantasy of what your actual [TS]

00:18:18   height was and no matter what people [TS]

00:18:22   told you though this whole time you just [TS]

00:18:24   ignored it and now all of a sudden for [TS]

00:18:26   whatever reason your ears are open and [TS]

00:18:29   you're being told the truth I don't like [TS]

00:18:32   that neither of those things none of [TS]

00:18:35   these things are possible the only [TS]

00:18:37   possibility is that the floor of the [TS]

00:18:39   hospital is wrong that the floor of the [TS]

00:18:41   hospital is skewed relative to the walls [TS]

00:18:43   and i think i think probably it's either [TS]

00:18:47   the floor has risen because there is [TS]

00:18:49   some kind of water the water table is [TS]

00:18:50   rising under the hospital or the walls [TS]

00:18:53   of the hospital have sunk and the floor [TS]

00:18:55   has remained the same was an old [TS]

00:18:57   facility it is ok what's it's probably [TS]

00:18:59   breathing you know it's probably it [TS]

00:19:02   expands and contracts an inch give or [TS]

00:19:04   take [TS]

00:19:05   that's right whoo all right let's table [TS]

00:19:07   this okay [TS]

00:19:12   asian gal yeah [TS]

00:19:15   yep yep I mean you know we we go to [TS]

00:19:17   great lengths to not talk about porn on [TS]

00:19:19   this on this website I I don't have [TS]

00:19:24   about great length but he sure has come [TS]

00:19:27   up a lot for somebody's trying that hard [TS]

00:19:29   because nobody likes to talk about it [TS]

00:19:31   now but a but it's you know it's out [TS]

00:19:34   there it fills the it fills the the [TS]

00:19:36   tubes that make up the internet yeah [TS]

00:19:38   it's clogging the tubes a lot of [TS]

00:19:40   different things out there [TS]

00:19:42   yeah that's for sure well and I don't [TS]

00:19:45   want to get into your your health [TS]

00:19:47   otherwise but are you feeling feeling [TS]

00:19:49   okay with able to help you with your [TS]

00:19:50   with the condition that you had no I [TS]

00:19:52   have a I have a I have a lingering a [TS]

00:19:58   lingering on rightness ok ok thank you [TS]

00:20:01   for putting that I don't want to edit [TS]

00:20:02   the show anymore by the way I can't I [TS]

00:20:04   can't do it again it did you get it did [TS]

00:20:07   you get angry emails about know about [TS]

00:20:09   gardening my daughter's name it it just [TS]

00:20:11   took me a really long time I did you [TS]

00:20:13   know you know one of the great things [TS]

00:20:15   about Roderick on the line is that it [TS]

00:20:17   requires very little work all question [TS]

00:20:20   if you script it well enough you don't [TS]

00:20:21   have to do as much editing exactly with [TS]

00:20:23   the rehearsals and who were already on [TS]

00:20:26   page 4 of this 10-page script so you [TS]

00:20:31   still have to go back a second here [TS]

00:20:33   started well here's the thing was like [TS]

00:20:35   38 line this is the thing about about [TS]

00:20:41   medicine [TS]

00:20:42   I you know I've been over this round and [TS]

00:20:44   round but did you read the other day [TS]

00:20:45   that the that the doctor who popularized [TS]

00:20:47   the diagnosis of ADHD is now coming out [TS]

00:20:51   saying that ADHD is being over diagnosed [TS]

00:20:54   by a factor of 10 in the American people [TS]

00:20:57   yep and he doesn't believe that it [TS]

00:20:58   doesn't believe that any of those people [TS]

00:21:00   have it filled by the pharmaceutical [TS]

00:21:02   industry that's right put it by the drug [TS]

00:21:05   companies it's been a crazy couple weeks [TS]

00:21:06   in turns out medical literature there [TS]

00:21:09   was the ADHD thing was in was Atlantic [TS]

00:21:11   New York Times somewhere that there is [TS]

00:21:13   the the letter to the letter basically [TS]

00:21:16   from the esteem physicians about how [TS]

00:21:18   vitamin supplements do nothing but harm [TS]

00:21:21   oh yeah yeah I sighs turns out someone [TS]

00:21:25   this week about a guy who was taking [TS]

00:21:26   some kind of green tea extract to lose [TS]

00:21:28   weight and he almost lost his liver [TS]

00:21:30   oh yeah this is the problem this is what [TS]

00:21:32   everybody thinks I'm a nut because I'm [TS]

00:21:34   not crazy about generic drugs [TS]

00:21:36   yes and and so if I had to try and in my [TS]

00:21:39   own hands fisted non-expert way say what [TS]

00:21:44   my problem with all these things are is [TS]

00:21:46   just because it has the point 0 0 0 1 [TS]

00:21:49   percent of this active ingredient I mean [TS]

00:21:51   you can't catch it in there besides that [TS]

00:21:53   who knows what else is in that stuff [TS]

00:21:54   right [TS]

00:21:55   I mean you know you think the idea of [TS]

00:21:57   somebody making a generic drugs and [TS]

00:21:58   they're gonna get the like this [TS]

00:21:59   high-quality filler they can find for [TS]

00:22:01   that anyway there's cata saltpeter that [TS]

00:22:05   explains a lot [TS]

00:22:06   maybe a percent saltpeter 2% actors my [TS]

00:22:09   last inch and I definitely some people [TS]

00:22:12   really do that that has a lot of [TS]

00:22:13   mythology around saltpeter akihiro [TS]

00:22:16   haven't you having never been out that [TS]

00:22:18   out that's something we're having never [TS]

00:22:21   been to Catholic school I have no idea [TS]

00:22:24   about the efficacy of saltpeter as an [TS]

00:22:26   erection reducer about prisons in the [TS]

00:22:28   Army I was never been in the Army I've [TS]

00:22:32   never been in prison in the army and I [TS]

00:22:35   have never been to prison let's just say [TS]

00:22:38   not present is not jail i think a lot of [TS]

00:22:40   persons not that it's okay and then [TS]

00:22:43   there's the other one is a CHD you got [TS]

00:22:45   vitamins and what was the other one [TS]

00:22:46   about antibacterial too much [TS]

00:22:48   antibacterial stuff these are all ADHD i [TS]

00:22:51   don't know i got some opinion about that [TS]

00:22:52   but the other 2i have pretty strong [TS]

00:22:53   feelings about too much antibacterial [TS]

00:22:55   stuff out [TS]

00:22:56   oh my god by but I mean there should be [TS]

00:22:58   no antibacterial stuff except in [TS]

00:23:00   conditions where bacteria is the actual [TS]

00:23:03   problem [TS]

00:23:04   yeah if you have a wound yeah right a [TS]

00:23:06   wound if you are if you are in a field [TS]

00:23:08   hospital in the somme in 1918 an [TS]

00:23:14   antibacterial would it really be an [TS]

00:23:16   advantage that's true but if you are if [TS]

00:23:19   you are a housewife and you are cleaning [TS]

00:23:21   your kitchen you do not need any [TS]

00:23:23   antibacterial anything or your or your [TS]

00:23:25   between bars on the jungle gym [TS]

00:23:28   I mean these little kids 3 stars would [TS]

00:23:30   be an empty space [TS]

00:23:32   ooh you're an empty space between Xena's [TS]

00:23:35   antibacterial paradox [TS]

00:23:36   listen I went to the emergency room in [TS]

00:23:39   yreka california and i said i haveI have [TS]

00:23:42   a problem and I want some i want your [TS]

00:23:47   you helping and they gave me the the [TS]

00:23:50   doctor was a smug Northern California ER [TS]

00:23:56   doctor he was a smirking doctor who [TS]

00:24:00   probably went to medical school in [TS]

00:24:03   grenada this is up in Reagan country [TS]

00:24:07   right this is my god this is the actual [TS]

00:24:09   real actual Northern California not some [TS]

00:24:12   some hobo middling northern this is the [TS]

00:24:14   actual like almost up where you live [TS]

00:24:16   no this is yeah this is where this is [TS]

00:24:18   the part of California where when you go [TS]

00:24:20   to get gas [TS]

00:24:21   everything is duck dynasty branded like [TS]

00:24:24   it's you know duck dynasty brand motor [TS]

00:24:27   oil duck dynasty brand coffee sweetener [TS]

00:24:30   duck dynasty is everywhere up there [TS]

00:24:33   people love it [TS]

00:24:34   we went to a black bear diner for dinner [TS]

00:24:36   and a family of like 10 people which was [TS]

00:24:41   there were three dads three-mile the [TS]

00:24:43   kiss that strapon be hurts 10 kids and [TS]

00:24:46   they were all of them I swear to you and [TS]

00:24:47   they're all like young there wasn't a [TS]

00:24:49   person at the table that was older than [TS]

00:24:51   I was they were all in their thirties [TS]

00:24:53   your late twenties early thirties every [TS]

00:24:55   single person moms and dads and kids all [TS]

00:24:58   in camo huh like and not matching camo [TS]

00:25:02   either let me they're self-conscious if [TS]

00:25:05   you don't wanna be seen [TS]

00:25:06   well but it was snowing at the time and [TS]

00:25:09   so they're they're like Vietnam era [TS]

00:25:12   jungle camo oh I hate when I wear the [TS]

00:25:14   wrong camo there were and there were [TS]

00:25:16   mixed mismatched cameras there were some [TS]

00:25:18   of those cameras which were photo print [TS]

00:25:20   camos as opposed to like garment prints [TS]

00:25:23   like LG like you'd use to cover up like [TS]

00:25:27   a gun behind that you would have on like [TS]

00:25:30   netting that kind that the the camo [TS]

00:25:33   technology has really evolved it's all [TS]

00:25:35   digital now I thought all computers [TS]

00:25:36   expressed its digital its digital cam [TS]

00:25:39   camera which I can kind of like the the [TS]

00:25:40   square camos I can kind of [TS]

00:25:42   initially a nintendo right but these [TS]

00:25:45   cameras that are actual Prince of [TS]

00:25:47   pictures of leaves and then are like [TS]

00:25:50   somehow spraying fixed onto close I feel [TS]

00:25:54   like oh no but in any case so i go into [TS]

00:25:57   the emergency room and the doctor gives [TS]

00:26:00   me he's like oh well it's clearly this [TS]

00:26:02   although it could be that here's a [TS]

00:26:04   prescription and I said well if it's [TS]

00:26:07   clearly this although it could be that [TS]

00:26:09   what is this prescription for is it for [TS]

00:26:13   this or that or is it for the space [TS]

00:26:15   between the bars [TS]

00:26:16   mm like what kind of prescription is [TS]

00:26:18   this is this just like is this just an [TS]

00:26:21   ionic investigating and about it he gave [TS]

00:26:23   me an antibiotic off and that and it was [TS]

00:26:26   it was it felt to me like he had put [TS]

00:26:28   plaster of Paris into a fire [TS]

00:26:31   extinguisher and was just like here's [TS]

00:26:33   what we'll do things like meditated [TS]

00:26:36   doing novena it's like so what is for ya [TS]

00:26:40   thank you what is it for it is a [TS]

00:26:42   antibiotic for a thing that he does not [TS]

00:26:45   know what it is and so because this [TS]

00:26:48   issue was causing me you know some [TS]

00:26:51   psychic discomfort let's say I against [TS]

00:26:55   my against every second cock isn't it my [TS]

00:27:01   second caucus is shriveling up like a [TS]

00:27:05   naughty i have met and it is accounting [TS]

00:27:07   for a loss in height but the flavor is [TS]

00:27:09   something that happens it not only hurts [TS]

00:27:10   the credibility of your medical [TS]

00:27:12   relationship but it but it doesn't make [TS]

00:27:14   you feel any better to go i'm not sure [TS]

00:27:16   what it is but just in case it's [TS]

00:27:17   something that I don't understand you [TS]

00:27:19   better [TS]

00:27:19   better take some medicine right so I so [TS]

00:27:22   I i take this i take this drug for a [TS]

00:27:24   week my problem does not improve so I go [TS]

00:27:27   to another doctor back here in Seattle [TS]

00:27:30   and I bring the empty pill bottle and i [TS]

00:27:32   said i went to a doctor he gave me these [TS]

00:27:33   pills [TS]

00:27:34   it did not do anything I'd really rather [TS]

00:27:39   talk about how it is I could have lost [TS]

00:27:41   an inch in height but while I'm here [TS]

00:27:45   can you tell me what this is that he [TS]

00:27:47   gave me why it didn't work and what is [TS]

00:27:49   actually the problem and the nurse [TS]

00:27:51   practitioner was like oh i see why he [TS]

00:27:53   gave you that he probably thought it was [TS]

00:27:54   this [TS]

00:27:55   but i think it's probably this and I'm [TS]

00:27:59   going to give you this pill at which [TS]

00:28:03   point everything I think about the [TS]

00:28:06   medical profession in the world is [TS]

00:28:08   confirmed because right now the car that [TS]

00:28:12   I Drive that is producing a kind of [TS]

00:28:14   high-pitched whine in the transmission [TS]

00:28:16   and I know although i could not do the [TS]

00:28:21   work myself I I know pretty much every [TS]

00:28:23   part that goes into a car and I have a [TS]

00:28:27   kind of idea about what is making this [TS]

00:28:29   sound and if i took it into a guy he [TS]

00:28:32   would listen to it and he would probably [TS]

00:28:34   have a kind of idea about what it is [TS]

00:28:37   maybe it's this maybe it's that put put [TS]

00:28:40   a little stp oil treatment in your gas [TS]

00:28:44   or whatever I mean he he's not going to [TS]

00:28:47   break open the transmission he's only [TS]

00:28:49   good there's only a couple of things [TS]

00:28:50   he's going to do to treat the problem [TS]

00:28:53   and this is a car made by he made by [TS]

00:28:57   humans and we were there are books that [TS]

00:28:59   have every part will laid out now human [TS]

00:29:02   being with all of their many many parts [TS]

00:29:05   that they that we do not understand i'm [TS]

00:29:07   just about the pumps and valves these [TS]

00:29:12   doctors are just throwing pills at it [TS]

00:29:13   like it's some kind of like it's a dark [TS]

00:29:18   game [TS]

00:29:19   none of it's working it's just making me [TS]

00:29:22   matter and then I remember a year and a [TS]

00:29:25   half ago the doctor who was throwing [TS]

00:29:28   mind pills at me he was throwing little [TS]

00:29:33   blue pills that we're going to improve [TS]

00:29:35   my mood by blocking my bettas it by [TS]

00:29:43   blocking the serotonin reuptake [TS]

00:29:45   inhibitors [TS]

00:29:47   no he wasn't blocking them hey w- yes [TS]

00:29:50   they were [TS]

00:29:51   stay where he was he was blocking the [TS]

00:29:53   reuptake of serotonin [TS]

00:29:56   and I'm just I'm so infuriated none of [TS]

00:29:59   these people know anything they did you [TS]

00:30:02   know what I went to school just as long [TS]

00:30:03   as they did that maybe I wasn't that [TS]

00:30:05   time maybe I wasn't like you know I [TS]

00:30:09   wasn't taking labs but the reality is i [TS]

00:30:15   would happily prescribe stuff to be I i [TS]

00:30:22   don't think it was into my thirties that [TS]

00:30:24   I ever finished a course of the [TS]

00:30:27   prescribed antibiotics you were one of [TS]

00:30:30   those guys and I'm gonna do that through [TS]

00:30:32   and then dump dump the rest of the [TS]

00:30:33   middle river when they would say like oh [TS]

00:30:35   yeah I put it right into the toilets and [TS]

00:30:36   get into the aquifer but yeah well they [TS]

00:30:39   but they would say back then remember [TS]

00:30:40   you got to take all of these and I [TS]

00:30:42   always thought that was like okay well [TS]

00:30:43   yeah whatever but if I'm feeling better [TS]

00:30:44   if I don't have the earache anymore and [TS]

00:30:46   so I mean it's like it's like a friend [TS]

00:30:48   of mine a friend of mine has i should [TS]

00:30:51   mention the word I i would like what [TS]

00:30:52   like what the vaccine stuff like i have [TS]

00:30:54   a friend whose kid it doesn't have like [TS]

00:30:57   phony-baloney vaccine things like he [TS]

00:30:59   actually has allergies that will make [TS]

00:31:02   him very very sick with certain kinds [TS]

00:31:04   the killing basically if you take [TS]

00:31:06   certain vaccines so it's really [TS]

00:31:07   important that other people have [TS]

00:31:08   vaccines because it love to give this [TS]

00:31:11   kid vaccines but they can't [TS]

00:31:12   and now I feel like today it's like that [TS]

00:31:14   with antibiotics were like people let's [TS]

00:31:16   all work together to make our immune [TS]

00:31:18   system stronger [TS]

00:31:19   let's let's not do things to take our [TS]

00:31:21   little bugs to the gym let's let's let's [TS]

00:31:23   all really take this a little bit more [TS]

00:31:26   seriously see and this seems like this [TS]

00:31:28   seems like the type of thing that an [TS]

00:31:29   all-female Congress would address which [TS]

00:31:33   part the whole thing the whole concept [TS]

00:31:35   of working together as some kind of hot [TS]

00:31:38   porn thing are you actually talking [TS]

00:31:39   about the body politic that would be a [TS]

00:31:42   great great film your body politic no I [TS]

00:31:49   feel like did you ever see the movie a [TS]

00:31:52   we're a demi moore was a Navy SEAL you [TS]

00:31:55   love that movie [TS]

00:31:56   GI jane GI jane and do you remember who [TS]

00:31:59   played the senator the southern senator [TS]

00:32:03   I don't you don't you don't remember I [TS]

00:32:06   don't know if our side [TS]

00:32:07   uh outlet gal who was married to a guy [TS]

00:32:10   you might have heard of me Mel Brooks Oh [TS]

00:32:12   mrs. Robinson and bancroft bankrupt [TS]

00:32:17   she's terrific [TS]

00:32:18   she's she's terrific and you know I [TS]

00:32:21   wanted to when I met mel brooks I said [TS]

00:32:25   in mel brooks i said at one point you [TS]

00:32:28   and he got it did I did I did I did meet [TS]

00:32:31   Mel Brooks and I said no and I'm kinda [TS]

00:32:34   what you know we have been two weeks we [TS]

00:32:35   talked for a while and then he was [TS]

00:32:38   talking to you now we talked for a while [TS]

00:32:40   now and I talked we talked on several [TS]

00:32:41   occasions over the course of a couple of [TS]

00:32:43   days and at one point you stand there [TS]

00:32:45   he's talking to Richard Lewis and i was [TS]

00:32:47   i was kinda turn into dick Cavett's [TS]

00:32:50   after kind of ring did cabin was there [TS]

00:32:53   oh yeah I had a couple Jetson i was i [TS]

00:32:55   was standing there and I was like I [TS]

00:32:56   really want to say something to mel [TS]

00:32:58   brooks about Anne Bancroft because i'm a [TS]

00:32:59   huge and bancroft Finn and I know he was [TS]

00:33:01   too because it was married to her for [TS]

00:33:03   all those years I always got the feeling [TS]

00:33:05   that their relationship was a pretty [TS]

00:33:06   good thing i thought it was too I really [TS]

00:33:08   admired and I wanted to say that but I [TS]

00:33:11   didn't know she has she's only been dead [TS]

00:33:13   not that long but who is a little creepy [TS]

00:33:16   I didn't want to be creepy but at one [TS]

00:33:19   point you know I'm kind of standing [TS]

00:33:20   there and he's talking and we're just [TS]

00:33:21   stand around and I was like you know I [TS]

00:33:23   just want to say I really admired your [TS]

00:33:26   wife and she seemed like a nice lady and [TS]

00:33:30   he like turn it directed his attention [TS]

00:33:35   toward me and he liked accepted the [TS]

00:33:38   remark and you know and said thank you [TS]

00:33:42   but i felt like i had crossed on cross [TS]

00:33:49   the line and i was like i should have [TS]

00:33:51   just kept that to myself [TS]

00:33:54   it's hard to know who's on the other [TS]

00:33:56   hand like I could very much be see that [TS]

00:33:58   going either way I could definitely see [TS]

00:33:59   no matter what I could definitely see [TS]

00:34:01   him giving you as you say throwing the [TS]

00:34:03   shape like basically saying like okay [TS]

00:34:05   well thank you now we're done with this [TS]

00:34:06   part of the conversation [TS]

00:34:08   no matter what his reaction was I could [TS]

00:34:10   also see that being something that's [TS]

00:34:11   always nice to hear you know anyone to [TS]

00:34:13   get famous their stuff that's still [TS]

00:34:14   always nice to hear [TS]

00:34:15   yeah and you know who knows whether he [TS]

00:34:17   he took that away and was like that was [TS]

00:34:20   nice but you know he didn't he didn't [TS]

00:34:22   want to sit and talk to me about her [TS]

00:34:24   which I understand yeah yeah so you [TS]

00:34:29   think she should have been in the [TS]

00:34:30   Congress well so that you don't so that [TS]

00:34:33   the role she plays in jail Johnny [TS]

00:34:35   politic it is a you know she's like a [TS]

00:34:37   crusty realpolitik southern accent [TS]

00:34:44   admitted you know clearly like a [TS]

00:34:47   Democrat who's playing who's playing [TS]

00:34:49   both sides and Demi Moore is this is [TS]

00:34:53   trapped in the middle she's between the [TS]

00:34:54   monkey bars and and I feel like yeah [TS]

00:35:01   right that I mean that is a character [TS]

00:35:04   that i would like to see duplicated and [TS]

00:35:08   made real bella abzug eggs of the world [TS]

00:35:12   like I understand which is a congress [TS]

00:35:15   you would like to see the Congress [TS]

00:35:16   filled with anne bancroft you would like [TS]

00:35:17   to see a lot more than a hand a handful [TS]

00:35:20   of people like that character [TS]

00:35:23   well yeah or the actual and bancroft be [TS]

00:35:26   nice wouldn't she have made a great [TS]

00:35:28   politician you know another another good [TS]

00:35:29   lady wife Joanne Woodward she's a nice [TS]

00:35:32   wife i thought if i had met if I had the [TS]

00:35:35   chance to to meet Paul Newman I would [TS]

00:35:37   have been very tempted to say something [TS]

00:35:39   similar to what you said developer right [TS]

00:35:40   exactly used to you have you you appear [TS]

00:35:42   to have had the kind of relationship [TS]

00:35:44   that is very inspiring to me [TS]

00:35:45   yeah there are not very many people who [TS]

00:35:47   can say I was married to an amazing [TS]

00:35:51   person for 60 plus years or whatever [TS]

00:35:54   yeah but and when you see those events [TS]

00:35:57   you see those those instances where it's [TS]

00:35:59   like yeah right you know you probably [TS]

00:36:02   had your hard times but wow what a what [TS]

00:36:04   a pain [TS]

00:36:05   there was a coupling that whole idea [TS]

00:36:08   that we are that we are halves of a [TS]

00:36:10   whole that we are incomplete without our [TS]

00:36:13   other was an idea that was not made [TS]

00:36:18   clear to me firsthand but when i see it [TS]

00:36:24   manifest in the world like it's it's [TS]

00:36:29   appealing it's appealing at a distance [TS]

00:36:31   la an excuse me and absolutely is and [TS]

00:36:35   the other thing is that I think that can [TS]

00:36:37   be made more Universal less creepy by [TS]

00:36:39   saying there are a lot of people who may [TS]

00:36:42   not realize in retrospect that there was [TS]

00:36:44   a another half to their whole until they [TS]

00:36:46   meet that person it isn't like everybody [TS]

00:36:48   should sit around and feel bad that they [TS]

00:36:49   haven't found the joanne woodward yet [TS]

00:36:50   they're there but there are people out [TS]

00:36:52   there who clearly get a gestalt out of [TS]

00:36:54   relationship that other people don't get [TS]

00:36:55   but I feel like that of the idea that [TS]

00:36:57   that you just haven't met your other [TS]

00:37:00   half [TS]

00:37:01   yeah there's a terrible idea it's [TS]

00:37:04   horrible it's one of those kind of all [TS]

00:37:07   the crackpot romantic mythology's that [TS]

00:37:09   that's when it's really corrosive that [TS]

00:37:11   is it makes me so mad when I when I met [TS]

00:37:13   the lady that that wrote the book Eat [TS]

00:37:17   Pray Love yeah I i was i was really [TS]

00:37:22   matters like your TED talk specifically [TS]

00:37:25   mad at her already because she wrote [TS]

00:37:27   that book [TS]

00:37:28   yeah and then when I talked to her a [TS]

00:37:31   little bit of your buddies now all times [TS]

00:37:33   with her right away that repels when I [TS]

00:37:35   realized that she was also some pretty [TS]

00:37:38   smart lady with you it may be matter [TS]

00:37:41   yeah I know and then I like tried to [TS]

00:37:44   rape her over the coals her about her [TS]

00:37:46   dumb book just never gotten that that [TS]

00:37:49   sold millions of copies and she she did [TS]

00:37:52   not she did not flinch at me raking over [TS]

00:37:58   the coals in fact she just you know she [TS]

00:38:00   just Heisman me she she she blew me off [TS]

00:38:05   and it may be that Highsmith yeah and [TS]

00:38:08   now i'm super mad about it [TS]

00:38:11   eat pray love how do you get to that [TS]

00:38:14   side of you know what it is its limits [TS]

00:38:16   the antibiotic soap of books [TS]

00:38:19   okay um I'd like to get back to the body [TS]

00:38:23   politic i want to tell you about a comic [TS]

00:38:24   call y the last man that you should read [TS]

00:38:26   but i also want to know how you thought [TS]

00:38:28   that would turn out well which park [TS]

00:38:29   confronting and forgetting her name now [TS]

00:38:33   but uh yeah whatever yeah I know her [TS]

00:38:36   name but yeah she said she had talked [TS]

00:38:39   great TED talk super good talker and and [TS]

00:38:42   and you know very smart lady she's [TS]

00:38:44   written several books not you thought [TS]

00:38:46   she was going to like the mirror that [TS]

00:38:48   she was not going to shoot you know what [TS]

00:38:51   you're right [TS]

00:38:51   no I just wanted to I just want to have [TS]

00:38:53   my day in court was with pill that [TS]

00:38:55   Elizabeth Gilbert she seems great i'll [TS]

00:38:59   just want to have my day in court i just [TS]

00:39:00   want to I just wanted to say for the [TS]

00:39:02   record you're be your book has as many [TS]

00:39:08   as increased the the has increased the [TS]

00:39:12   amount of free-ranging bio manner in [TS]

00:39:17   women's minds still significantly [TS]

00:39:23   uh-huh the ones that are around meal so [TS]

00:39:26   glad when the sentences / lives may hang [TS]

00:39:31   in the balance [TS]

00:39:32   but no she she didn't she was just like [TS]

00:39:36   she didn't even he didn't even stop [TS]

00:39:40   eating the shrimp from the from the ice [TS]

00:39:43   tray after she prayed the shrimp and [TS]

00:39:46   love the shrimp up I didn't even get to [TS]

00:39:50   the second page of my pieces ever got to [TS]

00:39:54   pretty it was already she was already [TS]

00:39:58   moving on to other better conversations [TS]

00:40:00   at this party look it's Charlie friends [TS]

00:40:07   yeah so y the last man i just mentioned [TS]

00:40:09   in passing is there is a comic you [TS]

00:40:11   should read it's a it's pretty good it's [TS]

00:40:12   about this the last man on earth why is [TS]

00:40:15   his name and he's the last man on earth [TS]

00:40:16   and so he wakes up one day and there's [TS]

00:40:18   nobody women's very good comment one [TS]

00:40:20   less than one third base it's very good [TS]

00:40:24   written by Brian kalyan who does saga [TS]

00:40:26   which is another comic you know rate [TS]

00:40:28   well I will I will happily read it on [TS]

00:40:31   the 172nd first trade okay and I you [TS]

00:40:35   know I replaced my copy of the other [TS]

00:40:36   thing to meet with with a new one [TS]

00:40:40   yeah not because my coffee maker was [TS]

00:40:43   broken but because i got an ornery and [TS]

00:40:47   spiteful because i found because i saw a [TS]

00:40:51   coffee maker that had more features and [TS]

00:40:55   my old coffee maker had no features its [TS]

00:40:58   featureless it was just all it did was [TS]

00:41:01   make coffee at poorly everybody that [TS]

00:41:04   came to my house was like that's your [TS]

00:41:05   coffee maker i generally it had the [TS]

00:41:09   feeling of being something you picked up [TS]

00:41:10   at a walgreens on the way home [TS]

00:41:12   yeah john colins I it was either [TS]

00:41:14   Jonathan or his wife who said you have a [TS]

00:41:17   blade grinder and not a burger grinder [TS]

00:41:19   encourage difference the beans John you [TS]

00:41:22   even live how do you live [TS]

00:41:24   it's just it's it's a copy maker that [TS]

00:41:26   you wouldn't use a tan am eating it's [TS]

00:41:30   got a great was a white as a way to know [TS]

00:41:32   was black but had a green room vibe [TS]

00:41:35   yeah it was too shitty even for an a a [TS]

00:41:37   meeting and I'll and then I saw this [TS]

00:41:40   coffee maker i was at some place and [TS]

00:41:42   this thing had like it was 15 cup [TS]

00:41:44   capacity and it had a timer and you can [TS]

00:41:47   admit and you could wake yourself up in [TS]

00:41:49   the morning with with freshly brewed [TS]

00:41:51   coffee and I was like wow it was one of [TS]

00:41:54   these aspirational moments where I [TS]

00:41:56   thought that's going to change my life [TS]

00:41:58   this is a bit of convenience that I [TS]

00:42:00   could actually use yeah I'm gonna get [TS]

00:42:02   one of those lights that comes on a [TS]

00:42:04   timer in the morning and it's a full UV [TS]

00:42:07   spectrum light and it's going to it's [TS]

00:42:10   going to wake me up in the morning with [TS]

00:42:11   the light of the Rising LED and then my [TS]

00:42:16   coffee makers going to go on it's gonna [TS]

00:42:17   fill the house with the smell freshly [TS]

00:42:19   brewed coffee and i am going to get up [TS]

00:42:22   in the morning and i'm going to do 200 [TS]

00:42:24   push-ups right [TS]

00:42:26   Wow never write from eight o'clock in [TS]

00:42:29   the morning until eleven and then i'm [TS]

00:42:31   going to go to the gym and then i'm [TS]

00:42:33   going to go to the climbing wall so this [TS]

00:42:36   was but this was set up this would be [TS]

00:42:37   the first domino that's right setting [TS]

00:42:39   off a series of events and it isn't it [TS]

00:42:40   isn't simply to say that you would never [TS]

00:42:42   have done all this push-ups before but [TS]

00:42:45   this is this could be the thing that [TS]

00:42:46   really gets the dominance movie this is [TS]

00:42:48   it and print and pretty soon I'm gonna [TS]

00:42:50   be standing in a park with an easel [TS]

00:42:52   wearing a Panama hat and doing [TS]

00:42:55   watercolors because i have so much time [TS]

00:42:58   to pursue all my dreams we start here [TS]

00:43:02   full height of 6 with I'm gonna be I'm [TS]

00:43:04   gonna be six foot four because i'll be [TS]

00:43:06   standing up so tall with pride because I [TS]

00:43:09   got going and so i bought this coffee [TS]

00:43:12   maker and i set it up [TS]

00:43:14   well first of all what i did was i left [TS]

00:43:16   it in the box for like four months and [TS]

00:43:19   use my old coffee maker but I set it up [TS]

00:43:22   and now I i I've only used the timer [TS]

00:43:26   setting once it was too complicated to [TS]

00:43:29   scroll through all the menus to figure [TS]

00:43:30   out how to do it regularly and this [TS]

00:43:33   coffee maker every one of its features [TS]

00:43:35   comes with a corresponding bug so it has [TS]

00:43:41   a gold filter instead of a paper filter [TS]

00:43:43   i'll throw that out that's going what [TS]

00:43:44   that means is that every one of my [TS]

00:43:46   coffee cups has like grounds in the [TS]

00:43:48   bottom like I'm in Turkey island and [TS]

00:43:51   they're awful a clean like he wants to [TS]

00:43:53   be sitting there spraying out a gold [TS]

00:43:54   filters that's the thing i use twice as [TS]

00:43:56   much water as i used to use because i [TS]

00:43:58   have to clean this gold filter and if [TS]

00:44:02   the if the water bucket isn't seated in [TS]

00:44:05   the grommet properly then it won't turn [TS]

00:44:07   on and the Bandit beeps 20 times less [TS]

00:44:12   time to write after that he scaled yeah [TS]

00:44:15   what I wake up in the morning and the [TS]

00:44:16   prospect of making coffee with this [TS]

00:44:18   thing but it makes me to roll over and [TS]

00:44:20   go back to sleep [TS]

00:44:21   it's just created anxiety John I'm not [TS]

00:44:23   painting watercolors I'm not going up [TS]

00:44:25   animal [TS]

00:44:25   hi down to 5 11 it's infuriating you [TS]

00:44:30   know I because i bought this thing [TS]

00:44:32   thinking like I also have one of those [TS]

00:44:35   lights that comes on in the morning that [TS]

00:44:37   is supposed to wake me up with full [TS]

00:44:39   spectrum labs members in the color [TS]

00:44:41   television with a remote haha a Merlin I [TS]

00:44:48   don't hurt television i hear they went [TS]

00:44:49   and built the skyscraper seven stories [TS]

00:44:52   high [TS]

00:44:52   everything's up to date in Kansas City [TS]

00:44:55   yeah yeah I don't know the television is [TS]

00:44:57   this something you don't even know I [TS]

00:44:59   don't know I don't tell me there's only [TS]

00:45:00   one there's only one name you ever need [TS]

00:45:02   to give a takeout place and that is Bob [TS]

00:45:05   there's only one coffee maker you ever [TS]

00:45:06   need to own which is the one that we [TS]

00:45:08   have which is this one cuisinart up a [TS]

00:45:10   little bit more you one of these a year [TS]

00:45:12   every year or two and so it's all the [TS]

00:45:14   coffee filter coffee maker you need when [TS]

00:45:16   you buy a new coffeemaker every year [TS]

00:45:17   well we used to really go through them [TS]

00:45:19   now less so now the proud of you go [TS]

00:45:22   through a coffee man let me restate me I [TS]

00:45:24   put that poorly what we used to do was [TS]

00:45:26   say fuck it we'll just get whatever at [TS]

00:45:29   whatever you got three is or so whatever [TS]

00:45:32   whatever [TS]

00:45:33   yeah you get whatever whatever and [TS]

00:45:35   finally we popped for I think that it's [TS]

00:45:37   like 40 60 bucks something like that [TS]

00:45:38   this one cuisinart DC dash something so [TS]

00:45:40   that's what everybody owns its kind of [TS]

00:45:42   slightly retro-looking its got like a [TS]

00:45:44   metal front thing and its really it's at [TS]

00:45:47   me it's like all the features you need a [TS]

00:45:48   coffee maker one place and I'm telling [TS]

00:45:50   you this because I think it's very [TS]

00:45:52   difficult especially with akash [TS]

00:45:53   especially things like TVs could be with [TS]

00:45:56   computers with whatever it is like it's [TS]

00:45:58   so hard to find the right balance of [TS]

00:46:00   that seeming convenience that will [TS]

00:46:01   enable you to write and do watercolors I [TS]

00:46:03   was sourcing the complexity like keep a [TS]

00:46:06   blog where they would review new gear [TS]

00:46:08   and tech stuff and tell you which one is [TS]

00:46:11   the best [TS]

00:46:12   there's only one site you need to go to [TS]

00:46:13   for that actually this is it gizmodo [TS]

00:46:15   help wire cutter they have a wonder [TS]

00:46:18   cutter you told me about that's exactly [TS]

00:46:19   one paragraph based on research this is [TS]

00:46:22   the one you should buy thank you [TS]

00:46:23   that's exactly what i want i just added [TS]

00:46:25   to $1,500 TV tamayo amazon wish list is [TS]

00:46:28   my friend John siracusa spent months and [TS]

00:46:30   months researching it and i just added [TS]

00:46:32   that one [TS]

00:46:32   well so we just did an ad for wire [TS]

00:46:34   cutter on our podcast why don't they [TS]

00:46:36   sponsor us a little bit [TS]

00:46:38   sometimes with this weekend i think wire [TS]

00:46:39   cutter can see why ya with my bed [TS]

00:46:44   Gilbert we should retro actively go to [TS]

00:46:47   them and say listen you're already [TS]

00:46:48   sponsoring our back cuts that give us [TS]

00:46:51   both $1,500 TVs will call it a wash [TS]

00:46:54   I i think we call it a wash I think they [TS]

00:46:57   just wouldn't call it anything [TS]

00:46:58   well i know i don't watch TV so yeah me [TS]

00:47:00   neither it would just end up in the [TS]

00:47:02   corner with not gonna watch Doctor Who [TS]

00:47:03   coffee maker Oh anyway the never seen a [TS]

00:47:07   doctor who could good-byes are you [TS]

00:47:10   saying good are you saying good are you [TS]

00:47:11   saying good i'm being dismissive in that [TS]

00:47:13   way you you paid when I do between the [TS]

00:47:17   monkey bars y the last man i'll show you [TS]

00:47:20   friday a meeting oh sorry go ahead [TS]

00:47:22   well have you ever been have you ever [TS]

00:47:23   been doing know I keep meaning to they [TS]

00:47:25   are amazing [TS]

00:47:27   well I've always been curious because it [TS]

00:47:29   seems like people & T on TV anyway [TS]

00:47:31   people smoke and they drink a lot of [TS]

00:47:33   coffee and a meeting that real TV [TS]

00:47:36   well no you can't smoke in the many more [TS]

00:47:38   most of them boo i know but there is a [TS]

00:47:41   lot of coffee happening and the problem [TS]

00:47:44   with a meetings as they are portrayed in [TS]

00:47:48   film and on TV is that dramatically the [TS]

00:47:54   the scriptwriters the screenwriters who [TS]

00:47:57   all I'm sure belong in a meetings but [TS]

00:48:00   probably none of them ever been to one [TS]

00:48:02   or or na [TS]

00:48:03   yeah they all want there to be what what [TS]

00:48:07   in at one today is called crosstalk [TS]

00:48:09   which is that the person is talking [TS]

00:48:11   telling their story and then someone [TS]

00:48:13   else in the room confronts them about it [TS]

00:48:16   or the squad leader of the meeting gets [TS]

00:48:21   up and make some comment about what they [TS]

00:48:24   just shared you know like they there [TS]

00:48:27   they always introduced into the script [TS]

00:48:29   some back-and-forth between a person who [TS]

00:48:33   is like in authority in the a meeting [TS]

00:48:36   and the protagonist but the reality is [TS]

00:48:40   that that that never happens in a [TS]

00:48:43   meeting there is no leader and so there [TS]

00:48:45   is never know whenever comments on no [TS]

00:48:48   one ever replies to you [TS]

00:48:51   exactly Robert's Rules of AAA well there [TS]

00:48:53   are rules but like you get up and you [TS]

00:48:55   talk and then you sit down and then the [TS]

00:48:58   next person gets up and talks there [TS]

00:48:59   isn't that no one ever says like you [TS]

00:49:01   know part of your problem is [TS]

00:49:03   blah blah blah like it's not it isn't [TS]

00:49:06   ever done that way it's just that part [TS]

00:49:09   of the ethos you don't yeah it's [TS]

00:49:10   absolutely part of the ethos it's called [TS]

00:49:12   it's called crosstalk and make a frown [TS]

00:49:14   on it [TS]

00:49:15   they also don't think that you should [TS]

00:49:16   date people that you meet in a meetings [TS]

00:49:18   but that's really hard with a lot of [TS]

00:49:20   scriptwriters get a lot wrong about a [TS]

00:49:22   they do they do and I don't know I for a [TS]

00:49:26   long time I thought maybe they were [TS]

00:49:27   intentionally obscuring it because they [TS]

00:49:30   because everyone in hollow Hollywood was [TS]

00:49:32   in a and they didn't want the secret to [TS]

00:49:34   get out but then I realized that it was [TS]

00:49:36   just that for dramatic purposes they [TS]

00:49:38   need there to be some authority figure [TS]

00:49:41   and I think what's happening is they're [TS]

00:49:43   there they're putting a lot of those are [TS]

00:49:45   setting a lot of those scenes now in [TS]

00:49:47   rehabs and rehabs are a lot [TS]

00:49:50   culty you're feeling but I don't know [TS]

00:49:52   I've never seen the idea actually fight [TS]

00:49:56   club did a pretty good job of [TS]

00:49:58   representing what what some of those [TS]

00:50:01   meetings are really like although i've [TS]

00:50:02   never been to like cancer survivor [TS]

00:50:04   meeting meatloaf was funny it was funny [TS]

00:50:06   but in any case a lot of those meetings [TS]

00:50:08   are held in churches and if you go into [TS]

00:50:10   the church basements and you start going [TS]

00:50:12   through the cupboards you will find [TS]

00:50:15   sometimes eight to fifteen coffee makers [TS]

00:50:20   that have just that are just like dead [TS]

00:50:23   soldiers [TS]

00:50:25   no one can you know like it's not that [TS]

00:50:28   they stopped working [TS]

00:50:29   it's that a new one is cheap enough to [TS]

00:50:32   get into that somebody brings the new [TS]

00:50:35   one and then you feel like you gotta [TS]

00:50:37   plug the new one in and start using it [TS]

00:50:38   and so the old ones not broken but you [TS]

00:50:44   know you're not using anymore and so it [TS]

00:50:45   goes up in the cupboard and a lot of [TS]

00:50:47   these kitchens in church basements [TS]

00:50:48   they're not used for anything but a [TS]

00:50:50   meetings so they got all these cupboards [TS]

00:50:52   and so the coffeemakers just go up in [TS]

00:50:55   the cupboards and pretty soon you open [TS]

00:50:57   these cupboards just like it's a fucking [TS]

00:50:59   museum of coffee makers that what you [TS]

00:51:01   don't have you gotten from a meeting in [TS]

00:51:03   the past [TS]

00:51:03   please pick one up no you don't take [TS]

00:51:05   from me you know you're not supposed to [TS]

00:51:07   steal a coffeemaker mother that's the [TS]

00:51:09   third rule of fight club members today [TS]

00:51:10   they're still the content filter coffee [TS]

00:51:11   maker but you know you open it up and [TS]

00:51:12   it's like is that an original mr. coffee [TS]

00:51:15   right [TS]

00:51:16   probably some of them if they weren't [TS]

00:51:17   also coffee-stained probably they would [TS]

00:51:19   be like with a little bit of money i [TS]

00:51:21   think that's who I don't know about that [TS]

00:51:23   by I think that's one reason like for me [TS]

00:51:24   just like this is not fun to clean [TS]

00:51:26   anymore this is just gross [TS]

00:51:27   yeah all the parts on this are plastic [TS]

00:51:29   and and it's disgusting and who think [TS]

00:51:34   about this [TS]

00:51:35   ya think about a pneumatic cannon that [TS]

00:51:41   shoots coffeemakers it's like a t-shirt [TS]

00:51:44   kind of for coffee makers [TS]

00:51:45   yes so we build a t-shirt cannon but [TS]

00:51:49   coffee maker sides and listening and [TS]

00:51:51   then people from all over come with [TS]

00:51:53   their old coffee makers and we should we [TS]

00:51:57   like shoot'em like we should wait we put [TS]

00:51:59   a couple of old Volkswagens downrange [TS]

00:52:01   and we just shoot coffeemakers Adam all [TS]

00:52:05   afternoon [TS]

00:52:06   who wouldn't who pay fifteen dollars to [TS]

00:52:10   shoot a coffeemaker battle cry is the [TS]

00:52:14   money-making scheme if we've ever had [TS]

00:52:16   one it would be really find the glass [TS]

00:52:18   shatter yeah the whole thing I mean [TS]

00:52:20   think about the think about the [TS]

00:52:21   satisfying impact about the entire [TS]

00:52:24   possible paper and half the time like [TS]

00:52:26   that the carafe would come separated [TS]

00:52:28   from the from the the launch system the [TS]

00:52:33   heating system somewhere in midair and [TS]

00:52:36   you would end up with a kind of shrapnel [TS]

00:52:37   effect a great shot effect i think it's [TS]

00:52:42   a no-brainer people would absolutely do [TS]

00:52:44   that they would people would people will [TS]

00:52:45   come and you get the price of admission [TS]

00:52:46   could be bring an old coffee maker bring [TS]

00:52:49   an old well wait a minute no we want to [TS]

00:52:50   make a little money to know Gotye [TS]

00:52:52   because we have to pay for the pneumatic [TS]

00:52:54   can use can you fire your old coffee [TS]

00:52:57   maker and and maybe buy a new one made [TS]

00:52:59   as part of the process [TS]

00:53:00   maybe maybe if you because there's so [TS]

00:53:02   many crappy think about like thinking [TS]

00:53:04   about like you come in you're gonna buy [TS]

00:53:06   a tivo but you get to fire your old VHS [TS]

00:53:09   a VW okay but wait a minute what about [TS]

00:53:11   what see what I'm hoping that people [TS]

00:53:13   will come with like eight coffeemakers [TS]

00:53:15   we're solving for solving a problem for [TS]

00:53:17   people something least three problems by [TS]

00:53:18   my reckoning it all around America there [TS]

00:53:20   have got to be used coffee makers [TS]

00:53:22   sitting in people's bottom cupboards [TS]

00:53:25   littering the church basements of [TS]

00:53:27   america that's right and so the thing is [TS]

00:53:29   yes I think we should sell new coffee [TS]

00:53:31   maybe you should you should sell your [TS]

00:53:33   cuisinart coffee maker at the at the [TS]

00:53:35   like there should be a gift shop and [TS]

00:53:39   it's just sells coffee makers new coffee [TS]

00:53:41   makers but the thing is that dick that [TS]

00:53:43   is somebody brings a coffee makers i'm [TS]

00:53:45   not gonna want to buy eight new coffee [TS]

00:53:46   makers they're bringing eight copy [TS]

00:53:49   makers to shoot they're gonna want to [TS]

00:53:51   buy one with what I feel like I feel [TS]

00:53:56   like there's got to be a per shot charge [TS]

00:53:59   even if you bring your own coffee maker [TS]

00:54:03   you gotta pay for services we can come [TS]

00:54:05   out and like you can you get a set an [TS]

00:54:07   automatic weapon and get to shoot it's [TS]

00:54:08   something isn't something you can do [TS]

00:54:10   yeah i mean they don't come out to you [TS]

00:54:12   you know you go up to the website and [TS]

00:54:14   mobile lab you got a little come to your [TS]

00:54:16   house with an automatic weapon and [TS]

00:54:17   second I mean like it's friday afternoon [TS]

00:54:19   you use the you know you're mad at your [TS]

00:54:21   boss you can just go out and shoot [TS]

00:54:23   fucking coffee maker it's something I [TS]

00:54:25   feel like I feel like the area around [TS]

00:54:26   San Francisco is perfect for this like [TS]

00:54:28   out out in the out in east bay somewhere [TS]

00:54:31   is a firing range right down the street [TS]

00:54:33   from here [TS]

00:54:34   here we go you can hear it on weekends [TS]

00:54:36   you can hear him shooting down like more [TS]

00:54:38   said yeah [TS]

00:54:39   is it a police thing nope just a regular [TS]

00:54:41   old bring a gun shoot stuff range you [TS]

00:54:43   know there's a police shooting range [TS]

00:54:45   over here by my house [TS]

00:54:46   really yeah and sometimes you can hear [TS]

00:54:48   shooting machine guns [TS]

00:54:49   wow it's pretty great how do what they [TS]

00:54:54   do a lot of shooting in the summer [TS]

00:54:56   not so much shooting in the winter and [TS]

00:54:59   it makes me think [TS]

00:55:00   are they under prepared for gunfights in [TS]

00:55:03   inclement weather right like they're [TS]

00:55:07   ready for creating into Rock book dealer [TS]

00:55:09   malcolm gladwell if better not [TS]

00:55:11   practicing all year round [TS]

00:55:13   they're an ineffective force interesting [TS]

00:55:16   this biscuit biscuit alter the course of [TS]

00:55:18   history haha this is what happened to [TS]

00:55:21   Napoleon but because what happened to [TS]

00:55:23   Hitler do [TS]

00:55:25   hi were ready he may not ready for cold [TS]

00:55:27   cold cold weather combat that's right he [TS]

00:55:30   didn't know what he was [TS]

00:55:31   get into hits coffeemakers if he'd been [TS]

00:55:33   out there year-round who shouldn't copy [TS]

00:55:36   makers in the dead of winter he would [TS]

00:55:39   imagine they will both of them would've [TS]

00:55:41   made it to Moscow Hitler wouldn't have [TS]

00:55:43   had to go to Moscow because Napoleon [TS]

00:55:44   would have already gotten there [TS]

00:55:46   ah have been speaking French and Moscow [TS]

00:55:48   more than they already were [TS]

00:55:49   can you imagine that time dignified what [TS]

00:55:53   would have happened if Napoleon had made [TS]

00:55:55   it all at concord mosca do that is [TS]

00:55:58   something i don't have to dig it's kind [TS]

00:56:01   of a day dr. you type thing I don't [TS]

00:56:04   think they would have survived think [TS]

00:56:06   even if he conquered Moscow I don't [TS]

00:56:07   think they want to survive the winner is [TS]

00:56:10   you know it's like this is like the Robo [TS]

00:56:13   suppose that line about how like [TS]

00:56:14   revolutionaries don't make great [TS]

00:56:15   politicians or whatever spend more [TS]

00:56:17   clever than that but that's a hell of a [TS]

00:56:19   large landmass to run [TS]

00:56:21   yes you know in even if you I mean it's [TS]

00:56:25   just it seems like you'd have to be as [TS]

00:56:26   crooked as they are there in order to [TS]

00:56:28   run that well hmm doesn't back then [TS]

00:56:31   sure I mean you would need the fear you [TS]

00:56:33   would need to I i don't know i mean it's [TS]

00:56:35   it's not food I don't think I don't [TS]

00:56:37   think the majority of Russia has ever [TS]

00:56:50   ten time zones in Russia has not a giant [TS]

00:56:53   negative life and I i think that you're [TS]

00:56:55   my friend shawn wolfe who did the cover [TS]

00:56:57   art for who attended also- land cover [TS]

00:57:10   to pass including Hitler cuisinart we [TS]

00:57:13   should get shown her to to sponsor this [TS]

00:57:15   podcast with free remover installers [TS]

00:57:19   that's the name of the device right [TS]

00:57:22   that's his little the classical and [TS]

00:57:24   device gather remover installing I think [TS]

00:57:27   your and my shared understanding of how [TS]

00:57:29   people actually make money from things [TS]

00:57:30   has become so backward at this point [TS]

00:57:32   that it just might work [TS]

00:57:33   how do you make money from things how [TS]

00:57:36   does anybody make money is all the time [TS]

00:57:39   who have so much money yes how did they [TS]

00:57:41   make it at cicis you should if you [TS]

00:57:45   should get VC if that's right in the [TS]

00:57:47   shit of venture capitalists I don't know [TS]

00:57:50   how do we get one of those [TS]

00:57:52   how do we get a venture capitalist why [TS]

00:57:54   don't we is there like a trap that he [TS]

00:57:56   said now you get a better get on to the [TS]

00:57:59   pound or we should make a proposal you [TS]

00:58:02   and I are smart we should make a [TS]

00:58:03   proposal that gets a venture capital [TS]

00:58:06   that it attracts the interest yes i was [TS]

00:58:09   out like a serial entrepreneur right [TS]

00:58:11   like that guy that I met at that party [TS]

00:58:13   in new york city where area Huffington [TS]

00:58:16   let's give me all these books about that [TS]

00:58:20   when you saw the slides of four children [TS]

00:58:21   on the law that's right where the guy [TS]

00:58:23   gave upset are you an entrepreneur and I [TS]

00:58:25   said yeah sort of tomorrow buck [TS]

00:58:30   haha did you see our slideshow about [TS]

00:58:33   poor children i did that didn't really [TS]

00:58:36   know there won't be still in Africa this [TS]

00:58:37   Christmas time [TS]

00:58:40   thank God remember back in nineteen [TS]

00:58:42   eighty-four when there wasn't snow in [TS]

00:58:44   Africa [TS]

00:58:44   oh I thought that song sounds more [TS]

00:58:48   condescending to me every year there's [TS]

00:58:50   something about a tease culture that was [TS]

00:58:55   still so in between so him between the [TS]

00:59:01   monkey bars where the be like rampant [TS]

00:59:07   ignorance and like casual racism of the [TS]

00:59:13   sixties and seventies was still like it [TS]

00:59:17   was still what what the culture was [TS]

00:59:19   soaking in but there was all this new [TS]

00:59:22   flip agility is only 10 years old that [TS]

00:59:28   nobody could quite figure out like how [TS]

00:59:29   do we show that we are compassionate [TS]

00:59:34   but we are because we have no experience [TS]

00:59:37   with real compassion [TS]

00:59:39   well yeah especially that I think if I [TS]

00:59:41   understand what you're what you're [TS]

00:59:42   describing is probably don't the mid to [TS]

00:59:43   late eighties and into the early [TS]

00:59:45   nineties it was like the end of the pro [TS]

00:59:47   period of assholishness and the the very [TS]

00:59:51   tenuous beginnings of this new kind of [TS]

00:59:55   fancy nice guy softness that we actually [TS]

00:59:57   had learned to do well yet right since [TS]

00:59:57   had learned to do well yet right since [TS]

01:00:00   oh there's a kind of assholeish nice [TS]

01:00:02   kindness to that done I get that the [TS]

01:00:04   presumption that Christmas even applies [TS]

01:00:09   to fully half of the continent of Africa [TS]

01:00:12   I've thought about this a lot and I [TS]

01:00:14   think the reason they did that is [TS]

01:00:15   because the donations were going to cut [TS]

01:00:17   become from people who love Christmas [TS]

01:00:18   and want people to be happy so I kind of [TS]

01:00:20   get that yeah yeah but like do they know [TS]

01:00:24   it's Christmas [TS]

01:00:25   it's like it's the whole just the title [TS]

01:00:29   of the song implies that Africa is a is [TS]

01:00:32   it it's like okay [TS]

01:00:35   of course they're hungry they don't know [TS]

01:00:37   it's Christmas it's like Plato's cave [TS]

01:00:39   do they know it's Christmas and this is [TS]

01:00:42   just shadows on the wall like that would [TS]

01:00:45   have been a better lyric than half of [TS]

01:00:46   the lyrics [TS]

01:00:47   the answer is the answer said depressing [TS]

01:00:49   in the end we can feed everybody very [TS]

01:00:52   very very easily be just only paying the [TS]

01:00:54   transportation costs on things [TS]

01:00:55   well that's true of half the things in [TS]

01:00:57   my house I was thinking about it the [TS]

01:00:58   other day half the stuff in here [TS]

01:01:00   I'm just it's just that i'm paying for [TS]

01:01:02   the container and I mean seeds don't [TS]

01:01:05   cost anything [TS]

01:01:06   what are seeds seeds seeds just fall [TS]

01:01:09   from the sky right baby plants [TS]

01:01:12   yeah sky seeds somebody I i had to pay [TS]

01:01:15   somebody a couple of cents an hour to [TS]

01:01:17   pick these seeds and put them in a bin [TS]

01:01:19   but then the rest of it is just [TS]

01:01:21   transportation i'm selling vegetables [TS]

01:01:23   are we talking about [TS]

01:01:24   well you know just the seeds of of items [TS]

01:01:29   ya like it you need seeds or any crunchy [TS]

01:01:32   seeds oh I'm more than that man led to [TS]

01:01:35   seed my wife likes seats [TS]

01:01:37   what about seeds and nuts every mix [TS]

01:01:39   seeds and nuts i can always feel like [TS]

01:01:45   west yorkshire Corp you got your trail [TS]

01:01:47   mix I always feel like like you're not [TS]

01:01:49   going to get the same quality control as [TS]

01:01:51   if you just gotten an ass-ton of nuts [TS]

01:01:53   the one kind of thing yeah yeah yeah [TS]

01:01:56   whatever the other day the cashews are [TS]

01:01:57   nuts [TS]

01:01:58   what somebody was yelling at me i posted [TS]

01:02:01   a picture of some cashews who as you do [TS]

01:02:04   yeah and I was like yep just sitting [TS]

01:02:07   here eating some nuts and somebody was [TS]

01:02:09   like the cashews are nuts [TS]
