Top Four

Top Four 12: Star Wars Movies

00:00:00   hi everyone back at top four central

00:00:03   here in our office I don't know I don't

00:00:09   know it's been a month we were high on

00:00:12   donuts last time and now we're back

00:00:13   buzzing caffeine before that very

00:00:16   special top for this month cuz

00:00:19   apparently we're now a monthly podcast

00:00:21   something like that something like that

00:00:24   and we are going to be discussing our

00:00:28   top four

00:00:36   [Applause]

00:00:41   anyway we're gonna be we have two

00:00:43   special guests two special guests and

00:00:45   their last name is Margot take it away

00:00:50   siracusa good enough but usually every

00:00:54   time someone says that you say good

00:00:55   enough near Liza I was telling TIFF that

00:00:57   she was going farther and farther away I

00:00:59   probably say it wrong Tina how do you

00:01:02   say it

00:01:02   syracusa did I say that wrong inside her

00:01:10   head about it she's gonna get all

00:01:11   self-conscious about it she this is not

00:01:13   a problem so you guys are making it a

00:01:14   problem let's see you've never said that

00:01:16   any pronunciation of it was correct you

00:01:18   only ever say like good enough or that's

00:01:20   fine or whatever it's never correct but

00:01:22   you won't say it either

00:01:23   oh damn Benjamin said it right I have a

00:01:25   recording of him saying it right and

00:01:27   Tina just said it fine whatever we have

00:01:36   two of these people on the other end to

00:01:39   discuss our our top four favorite Star

00:01:43   Wars films hey this should be

00:01:46   interesting

00:01:47   I would imagine at least John I know you

00:01:51   have strong opinions Tina I imagine you

00:01:53   probably do too

00:01:53   sure different scene different opinions

00:01:58   well yeah and that's what makes the show

00:02:00   interesting well we decided on our show

00:02:02   after we had Mike and Adina on that we

00:02:04   are going to be doing couples only so we

00:02:05   convinced Tina Sara cue said Sara close

00:02:08   enough to join us sir close enough close

00:02:11   enough to join us

00:02:13   and usually we like to provide our

00:02:15   guests with the steak dinner before we

00:02:16   record but since you guys are up in your

00:02:19   own state and we are down in our state

00:02:21   that that was not possible this time but

00:02:24   no fair yeah anyway so I believe

00:02:29   somebody has some rules for our podcast

00:02:32   and it's not us someone's gotta have

00:02:35   rules that one was a very upset and sent

00:02:38   like 23 lines of instant messages this

00:02:41   morning about rules he won this 10

00:02:46   devices can drift off course let's say

00:02:50   I'm trying to give you guys some

00:02:53   boundaries and I have a way that I think

00:02:54   this show could go so as opposed to the

00:02:57   past few episodes where you guys talk

00:02:59   about all your choices kind of all at

00:03:01   the same time I thought we would go

00:03:03   around in a structured style and start

00:03:06   with our number one picks and then

00:03:07   number two number three in each of us we

00:03:09   got to say whatever we want about our

00:03:10   number picks and then when we all do our

00:03:12   number four is we will be done that

00:03:17   sounds like a great ideal this idea is

00:03:22   not out of reach we'll see okay my

00:03:26   captain I'm ready let's go yeah and I do

00:03:30   have a brief opening statement on

00:03:34   picking a top horse though I'm shocked

00:03:37   for I'm sure if you listen to the show

00:03:39   you've listened to it before you know

00:03:40   what it's like the whole idea on this is

00:03:43   like Marco has his top four ntfs most of

00:03:46   the time and yeah well you know in

00:03:48   theory but the idea that they have

00:03:50   separate lists is the clue to what this

00:03:52   show is about we're going to list our

00:03:55   favorite things favorites can vary from

00:03:57   person to person this top four has never

00:03:59   been a show about what is the best

00:04:01   whatever because then you'd be trying to

00:04:03   find some consensus instead it's

00:04:05   individually what is your top four what

00:04:07   is my top four all this is to say that

00:04:09   as we go through these lists keep in

00:04:10   mind that these are favorites and not

00:04:12   bests and this is a distinction that is

00:04:15   not often made by the show but

00:04:16   implicitly this entire show is about

00:04:17   favorites so if one of us picks a

00:04:20   favorite that you think it's crazy

00:04:22   because movie X is better and let me

00:04:24   tell you why remember it's not about

00:04:26   best it's about a favorite and favorite

00:04:28   is an entirely personal thing that's all

00:04:30   I want to say in trying to preempt all

00:04:32   the the potentially angry people here

00:04:34   well thank you that actually kind of

00:04:36   solidified one of my choices because I

00:04:37   had a little double arrow and a question

00:04:40   mark for my number two and three I'm

00:04:43   glad you said that because my favorite

00:04:45   is actually Attack of the Clones

00:04:51   then we need we need an order

00:04:53   Jason El style if we're gonna have a

00:04:54   draft we could have we could I have an

00:04:56   order so I guess you know you guys

00:04:58   should pick who's gonna go for a second

00:04:59   third and fourth and then we can decide

00:05:01   when we get to the end if we're gonna do

00:05:02   a snake draft I feel like someone needs

00:05:04   to open up a spreadsheet at this point I

00:05:05   don't know what a snake is I don't know

00:05:07   what to think is it in the parking lot

00:05:09   you guys have been compromised thanks or

00:05:12   you know your sports names I guess well

00:05:14   I guess we'd have to fire off our

00:05:16   spoiler dong for this episode just in

00:05:19   case anyone listening hasn't seen you

00:05:23   know the Star Wars movies for some

00:05:25   insane reason but stop listening now if

00:05:28   you have seen them because if you have

00:05:30   seen them let me know

00:05:32   wait thanks Tina stop listening now if

00:05:34   you have seen them because we're

00:05:36   probably going to just make you angry or

00:05:40   you haven't seen them regardless ya

00:05:43   listener here and John before we get

00:05:46   started you you seem to have a strong

00:05:48   opinion that we should go best to worst

00:05:50   and that a lot most of the time I think

00:05:51   we go the opposite direction what why

00:05:53   did you why do you think we should do it

00:05:54   from best to worst because I think there

00:05:56   is general consensus among the listeners

00:05:58   if not among the panelists about the

00:06:01   best but as you start tailing towards

00:06:02   the end of the four it gets sketchier so

00:06:05   I think the more dramatic choices are

00:06:07   towards the bottom than the top all of a

00:06:09   sudden we're all official and panelists

00:06:11   this is that we have somebody here to

00:06:13   put some structure in this show because

00:06:15   normally we don't you know that or

00:06:17   you'll never invite them back a little

00:06:20   bit of a break is like when you've got a

00:06:21   whole bunch of cups full of coffee and

00:06:22   you're in a public place and you know

00:06:24   that's can be chaotic and you've got a

00:06:25   whole bunch of donuts on a table it's

00:06:27   hard to keep it together but I'm not you

00:06:30   know the old style format where you're

00:06:32   not stuffing your faces and making

00:06:33   yourself sick to your stomach and

00:06:36   teasing your poor child while you eat

00:06:38   doughnuts in front of I just had an

00:06:40   amazing idea

00:06:40   something that we can do next time you

00:06:42   guys are in person with us jarred tomato

00:06:44   sauces your tomato sauce and I'll make

00:06:53   my de Pape tomato and sneak him into the

00:06:55   rank yeah all right i-i've Oh Tina goes

00:07:08   first

00:07:08   I don't agree somebody has to go first

00:07:13   okay

00:07:14   I'll go first all right dudes my number

00:07:20   one pick four favorite Star Wars movie

00:07:23   not best favorite is the force awakens

00:07:27   actually it is my favorite Star Wars

00:07:30   movie officially I freaking love this

00:07:32   movie cannot wait to see it again fifty

00:07:35   thousand more times it was just great

00:07:38   and the reason I chose it as my first

00:07:40   pick is because it has tons of diversity

00:07:43   it has like powerful women in in roles

00:07:46   that you know they before weren't

00:07:48   playing and I love the whole as you know

00:07:52   all the podcasts have spoken over and

00:07:53   over again about the details of the

00:07:55   movie but the you know don't hold my

00:07:57   head like why are you holding my hand

00:07:59   just like small little details about her

00:08:01   character about the character of Rey

00:08:04   being just such a competent amazing

00:08:07   woman that does not lose any clothing

00:08:09   during the movie that is like I love

00:08:13   that has every other movie women always

00:08:15   lose clothing like every time they're in

00:08:18   some sort of action movie and she

00:08:19   actually gets to be the hero the concept

00:08:22   of the force makes her equally powerful

00:08:25   to the men when they are doing battle so

00:08:28   you're not really saying like wow that

00:08:29   woman couldn't really do that she

00:08:31   doesn't have enough strength well the

00:08:32   force gives them the strength so they

00:08:33   are able and equal and I just absolutely

00:08:37   love that

00:08:38   and it's it has a lot of throwback to

00:08:41   the older movies but at the same time it

00:08:43   brings like a fresh perspective so I

00:08:46   just really enjoyed it as a new modern

00:08:49   Star Wars and I just loved it and this

00:08:52   is coming from someone who I want to say

00:08:54   I do have a history with Star Wars and I

00:08:56   really love the original movies so this

00:09:00   one being my favorite is pretty big it's

00:09:02   my question for you is when like before

00:09:04   you saw the movie like were you were you

00:09:07   like watching the trailers and getting

00:09:08   excited about it or you were just like

00:09:10   oh I guess they're making another Star

00:09:11   Wars movie maybe it'll be good like what

00:09:12   was your what was your lead-up to

00:09:14   watching this movie I was so burned by

00:09:17   the by the prequels that I really didn't

00:09:21   care that they were making a new Star

00:09:23   Wars movie because I hated the prequels

00:09:26   so much so obviously they're not gonna

00:09:27   be on my list spoiler dawg but you know

00:09:30   they were just so terrible that they

00:09:32   kind of ruined Star Wars for me for a

00:09:34   long time and I just kind of stopped

00:09:36   watching the original movies because I

00:09:38   didn't like those and so the idea of a

00:09:41   new one I was just like oh there's gonna

00:09:42   ruin it again so I think that the I and

00:09:45   I watched one of the trailers and I was

00:09:47   like well it looked pretty good but I

00:09:49   still wasn't excited so maybe going from

00:09:51   the whole idea and mental state of I'm

00:09:54   gonna hate this movie and they're just

00:09:56   gonna continue to ruin Star Wars - oh my

00:09:59   gosh this movie was amazing it kicks so

00:10:01   much butt and I just want to see it

00:10:03   constantly like the factor we saw it I'm

00:10:05   like I want to turn around and go see it

00:10:07   again if we wouldn't have to pick up our

00:10:08   son from preschool we would have totally

00:10:11   been in there watching the movie again

00:10:13   don't you agree Margo oh yeah I mean and

00:10:16   this is I I have this movie very high on

00:10:19   my list as well yeah it so pumped like

00:10:21   it got me so pumped and it made me love

00:10:23   Star Wars again and I think that that's

00:10:25   why it's my number one it's because it

00:10:26   it reinvigorated my love for the whole

00:10:29   franchise and we went back and we

00:10:32   watched all the movies again and it just

00:10:33   it made my my heart full of Star Wars

00:10:38   nerd eree again and I think that that's

00:10:40   why I respect it so much I have a

00:10:43   similar impression of the force awakens

00:10:45   I I also had no expectations of it I

00:10:49   didn't know anything about it because I

00:10:50   had been burned by the prequels and

00:10:51   because I wasn't that big of a Star Wars

00:10:53   nerd like I liked the movies I saw the

00:10:55   movies but I hadn't seen any of them

00:10:57   recently and I'm not that much into them

00:10:59   and so I didn't know anything about this

00:11:02   going in I didn't know which actors

00:11:04   would be in it I didn't I didn't know

00:11:06   anything about it I

00:11:07   I do I wasn't reading spoilers I wasn't

00:11:09   even watching the trailers I knew

00:11:10   nothing about it

00:11:11   and so going into it knowing nothing and

00:11:13   being so incredibly blown away by how

00:11:16   good it was and how just how how

00:11:19   entertaining it was how well done it

00:11:21   wasn't mean this has been well covered

00:11:22   on other podcast many books you've been

00:11:24   on John OH

00:11:25   so you know I don't thing we need to go

00:11:27   over in great detail why exactly it is

00:11:30   so amazing but I just think it blew me

00:11:33   away and how good it was and I would

00:11:36   actually have it as my number one almost

00:11:38   I think if I had to just rank right now

00:11:41   my favorite I think I might do you have

00:11:43   to rank right now consult your list

00:11:48   you're you're beautiful I phone I have a

00:11:52   list on the iPhone in my hand and I so

00:11:54   my I had initially written down Empire

00:11:57   Strikes Back is my number one and then

00:11:59   the force awakens and my number two

00:12:01   you're doing the reason why I that's my

00:12:05   job on the show is to ruin to ruin

00:12:07   whatever structure there might have been

00:12:08   so the reason why I I have a hard time

00:12:11   eccentric these two is that III just

00:12:14   think it might be too early in the force

00:12:16   awakens to declare it my number one

00:12:19   because like it hasn't aged it we

00:12:21   haven't we haven't had a chance for like

00:12:22   the excitement to just settle down from

00:12:24   it but the show is happening right now

00:12:27   this is when you're making the choice

00:12:29   this is it you know we're not gonna

00:12:30   submit this into your bio here and

00:12:33   you're like you have to stick to this

00:12:34   list it just it feels dangerous to

00:12:37   because it had that film not come out

00:12:40   yet or at all Empire would be my number

00:12:42   one like probably many Star Wars fans

00:12:43   but I think the excitement of that is so

00:12:47   strong right now that it's easy for me

00:12:48   to say that's my number one now but I

00:12:50   might regret that in like a year because

00:12:52   I've only seen it you know we've only

00:12:53   seen it twice and it's coming out in

00:12:55   video soon and so we'll probably see it

00:12:57   again soon we could have paid 6 bucks to

00:12:59   watch it again on the plane really

00:13:01   you're just done yeah I might have done

00:13:03   that actually that's on those crappy

00:13:05   little screens but yeah so alright so

00:13:08   you know what you've convinced me screw

00:13:10   it that's my number one force awakens

00:13:11   BAM

00:13:12   peer pressure wife pressure well I

00:13:15   wanted to put it but I knew you'd make

00:13:16   fun of me and and I I thought like again

00:13:18   he's like I didn't want to know

00:13:20   I I didn't want to to jump the gun on

00:13:24   judging it so highly no I understand

00:13:26   where you're coming from that plays into

00:13:28   where I have force awakens is the fact

00:13:31   that it is new and I've only seen it a

00:13:33   few times so it's hard to know if it has

00:13:35   staying power or not exactly well it

00:13:38   sounds like it's your turn then Tina so

00:13:39   my number one is has a lot to do with

00:13:43   nostalgia reasons and seeing it as a kid

00:13:46   but my favorite is is a new hope I just

00:13:48   remember as a kid just any time I saw it

00:13:51   on TV I was watching it didn't matter if

00:13:53   it was 15 minutes in I were in if it was

00:13:55   on TV I was watching it my parents at

00:13:58   various points in time had cable but not

00:14:00   all the time but I just have distinct

00:14:02   memories of having cable at one point in

00:14:05   time and having like those HBO free

00:14:08   preview weekend type things and I just

00:14:10   remember one weekend that Star Wars was

00:14:13   on and HBO was free and I must have

00:14:16   spent the whole weekend watching Star

00:14:18   Wars because that's all I wanted to

00:14:20   watch I just it's the first movie it's

00:14:22   it's you know sets up the whole universe

00:14:25   of Star Wars and the characters and it's

00:14:28   just sort of it's a new beginning

00:14:30   there's just something about new things

00:14:32   that there's there's so much hope for

00:14:34   what's gonna happen later in the story

00:14:36   and you're just all excited about it so

00:14:38   just like for a nostalgia reasons like

00:14:39   that's just my all-time favorite even to

00:14:41   this day if it's on I have a hard time

00:14:43   not watching it if it's on so when like

00:14:47   Alex was going through his Star Wars

00:14:49   phase of watching the movie over and

00:14:50   over again I suppose I didn't watch it

00:14:53   all the time but I watched it a lot more

00:14:56   than I probably had time for how old was

00:14:59   Alex when you guys started him watching

00:15:01   Star Wars

00:15:01   it was around kindergarten so has he

00:15:05   seen the prequels yet um he's a really

00:15:08   delicate parenting question he hasn't

00:15:11   seen the prequels in this house I don't

00:15:15   know he does the friends house it yeah

00:15:17   like a sleepover or something and they

00:15:18   showed Revenge of the Sith I think is

00:15:20   that the one they should I think that's

00:15:21   the one he saw and then I think John

00:15:22   showed him the Darth Maul fight scene

00:15:25   yeah I have that clipped out as I turned

00:15:27   that when he was very young that the

00:15:29   lightsaber fight from the Phantom Menace

00:15:30   with I care that we don't care about

00:15:32   with with the Jar Jar

00:15:33   things like cut out of it so it's just

00:15:35   it's just the fight scene no dialogue so

00:15:37   out of curiosity so so suppose Alex is

00:15:40   at a friend's house at a sleepover or

00:15:42   something would you rather they

00:15:45   accidentally see the Phantom Menace in

00:15:48   its entirety or somebody has a beer

00:15:52   [Laughter]

00:15:55   drinking beer wouldn't I always wouldn't

00:15:59   drink the beer and he's gonna watch the

00:16:05   movie eventually he know he'll be he'll

00:16:07   be bored of it he knows he's not allowed

00:16:09   to see it here and it bothers him watch

00:16:12   like the whole movie on YouTube by now

00:16:14   you realize like what he does is you

00:16:15   know YouTube they don't let the entire

00:16:17   movie be up because of their copyright

00:16:18   restrictions things that people do like

00:16:20   fan edits and put them on YouTube and

00:16:22   that's what he watches so he's seen all

00:16:24   these weird cut up versions of the movie

00:16:26   which it's fine because now it's just

00:16:28   like it's just as big a mishmash as the

00:16:29   actual movie so now Tina when you and

00:16:34   John like first met was Star Wars

00:16:37   something that you guys first bonded

00:16:38   over or did that come later on that you

00:16:41   discovered your mutual love for Star

00:16:43   Wars I don't think it was anything we

00:16:45   first bonded over I think we just had

00:16:48   both assume that everybody already love

00:16:49   Star Wars and so did we yeah I mean like

00:16:51   we did go through the whole when they

00:16:55   did the release of the original trilogy

00:16:58   we were in college then yeah yeah yeah

00:17:01   late 90s right yes so we would go to the

00:17:04   quote unquote best theater in Boston to

00:17:08   go you know it's called the sherry I

00:17:09   don't even think it exists anymore but

00:17:12   you know we stood in line we you know to

00:17:14   go to those movies on opening night and

00:17:16   you know so I saw the first three and

00:17:19   actually ended up seeing Phantom Menace

00:17:20   there too when that came out but I mean

00:17:24   yeah I mean I was always a fan of Star

00:17:25   Wars I don't know that it was something

00:17:26   we talked about in our mutual you know

00:17:30   making sure we could date each other we

00:17:33   had to make sure that liked all the same

00:17:36   things or whatnot so yeah we didn't bond

00:17:38   over it but if you would have seen the

00:17:41   Phantom Menace on your first date do you

00:17:44   think you would have been able to

00:17:45   continue their relationship

00:17:47   well probably considering our first date

00:17:50   was on a boat well no no I'm meaning

00:17:55   John motion sickness right so if we

00:17:59   could Johnny grew up on an island

00:18:02   floating you know it's ground it's like

00:18:06   a whole island you know like it's

00:18:07   there's boats everywhere all around I

00:18:09   know I took some lessons as a kid we

00:18:11   have a little sunfish thing well it was

00:18:13   it was a phantom that a sunfish but

00:18:14   anyway no I know it was not a menace it

00:18:20   was just a fact maybe there's a menace

00:18:24   to you I've learned to sail on it it's

00:18:27   you know I had no problem with that

00:18:29   okay all right Jim what's your number

00:18:32   one everyone knows what my number one is

00:18:34   because I've been on a million Star Wars

00:18:35   podcast but if you've never heard me I'm

00:18:37   one of those that my number one it just

00:18:38   happens to also be the best Star Wars

00:18:41   movie but that's not why I'm thinking I

00:18:42   think it because it's my favorite that's

00:18:44   the Empire Strikes Back what more can I

00:18:48   say about the Empire Strikes Back Marco

00:18:49   will dutifully put in the shownotes many

00:18:51   hours of me talking about this movie I

00:18:53   will show no I think you just signed

00:19:03   yourself up for the show knows Jim

00:19:04   congratulations Casey when I need them

00:19:09   Empire like so it's hard for me to talk

00:19:12   about why is my hair without getting

00:19:14   into why I think it's better than for

00:19:15   example a new hope it benefits from

00:19:17   being the middle movie because you don't

00:19:18   have to introduce all the characters you

00:19:20   already know them you already like them

00:19:21   because a good movie came before it that

00:19:23   made you know them and like them it I

00:19:26   think it takes it's sort of if you saw

00:19:29   if you're similar age to I am and you

00:19:30   saw these movies sort of as they were

00:19:34   were created Empire aged with the

00:19:37   generation of kids that might have seen

00:19:39   Star Wars so now it was a little they're

00:19:41   a little bit older and Empire was a

00:19:43   little more sophisticated the sort of

00:19:46   relationships were less Disney a little

00:19:49   bit slightly more adult the fear factor

00:19:51   was cranked up instead of you

00:19:54   Vader just being a big tough guy now

00:19:57   you're really scared for these heroes

00:19:58   that you care about there are actually

00:20:00   some genuinely scary moments with Yoda

00:20:02   and you're worried about Luke there's

00:20:03   dismemberment and it's not played off at

00:20:06   the same kind of light way as it is in

00:20:08   Star Wars where like in the cantina

00:20:10   scene yeah the guy gets his arm chopped

00:20:11   off but this is Luke man because his

00:20:13   hand chopped off and of course you know

00:20:15   Vader chin has to be it turns out to be

00:20:16   his father and all that stuff really

00:20:19   this I feel like Empire is the heart of

00:20:21   the entire franchise for me as far as

00:20:22   I'm concerned all the stuff and dig

00:20:24   about all the stuff with Yoda all

00:20:26   setting up the this struggle with Luke

00:20:29   because the first movie was like you

00:20:31   know sort of the the on-ramp to look

00:20:33   like he's a farm boy and then he becomes

00:20:35   us here or whatever but it's all in one

00:20:36   direction Empire is like but where is

00:20:38   this really going because you can't have

00:20:39   just Luke come and he's gonna try and

00:20:41   forget and again like it's a James Bond

00:20:43   movie where all you do is what make

00:20:44   another Star Wars movie and at the

00:20:45   beginning the Star Wars movie Luke is

00:20:46   there and he's our hero and he wins in

00:20:47   the end

00:20:48   Star Wars is not James Bond so Empire

00:20:51   really sets all that up and just

00:20:52   everything about it is wonderful the all

00:20:55   the actors look the best they've ever

00:20:56   looked in the entire series their

00:20:57   performances are amazing the set

00:21:00   dressing the outfits and everything all

00:21:02   all the locations just that's just what

00:21:06   Star Wars is to me the Imperial March

00:21:07   makes its first appearance in this movie

00:21:09   it's the song that I hear my young

00:21:11   children humming to themselves the most

00:21:13   not like the Star Wars theme that TIFF

00:21:15   tried on before they hum the Imperial

00:21:19   March themselves people don't realize

00:21:20   that that song was not in Star Wars it

00:21:22   came from Empire Strikes Back I really

00:21:25   like this movie it's my number one it's

00:21:26   awesome so I was on the fence to whether

00:21:30   to make this my number two or my number

00:21:32   three because I also loved Empire very

00:21:36   much Hoth for the Hoth planet scene was

00:21:38   actually the first Star Wars we showed

00:21:40   Adam during the blizzard this year I was

00:21:43   trying to find every movie or anything

00:21:44   with like a whole bunch of snow in it

00:21:46   and I'm like you know what I'm gonna

00:21:47   show him with like you know the snow

00:21:49   planet with the Imperial walkers is that

00:21:51   we like fast forwarded through a couple

00:21:52   parts of it but that was it and he cried

00:21:55   when we turned it off because you show

00:21:57   him the shining through parts of it yeah

00:22:03   fast forward to the creepy parts no no

00:22:06   he loved it

00:22:07   and he cried when we turned it off

00:22:08   because he wanted to see more of it was

00:22:10   so upset he was so mad and we're like

00:22:12   you know I don't think you're ready for

00:22:13   this because like I turned it on

00:22:14   thinking like oh I love the ha splat

00:22:16   it's like I love that opening I think

00:22:18   that's so great I think there's so many

00:22:20   like iconic moments in the beginning of

00:22:22   that movie that it just it's it just

00:22:26   rings back so many memories to me of you

00:22:29   know watching these with my dad and so I

00:22:32   loved it and we played it for Adam owes

00:22:34   like ooh ooh now I'm trying to like now

00:22:36   I'm watching it as if I'm like a

00:22:38   four-year-old watching it so it's like

00:22:40   oh this is kind of rough and we

00:22:42   fast-forward through a lot but like he

00:22:44   he really liked it so now I'll overfor

00:22:46   up forever have that great memory of it

00:22:48   also was that that was babies for Star

00:22:50   Wars and we haven't had to address the

00:22:52   difficult questions about prequels with

00:22:54   him yet yeah exactly

00:22:56   but I mean there is that I love the

00:22:57   scene of like the asteroid field when

00:23:00   they're in the asteroid field with the

00:23:02   money in Falcon and all that kind of

00:23:04   sits just a great movie but I ended up

00:23:06   with my number two I decided ultimately

00:23:09   to go with Return of the Jedi because

00:23:11   that was the very first Star Wars movie

00:23:13   that I actually saw and I know pretty

00:23:16   much every line and which is kind of it

00:23:18   which got Marko pretty mad that I

00:23:21   started to say things though I mixed

00:23:24   that within five minutes yeah he's like

00:23:25   you you've got to stop I can't be

00:23:28   watching movie with somebody who's

00:23:29   reciting the lines I just can't job on

00:23:31   Obata can't do it well anyway I guess

00:23:37   it's kind of funny that's my second in

00:23:39   contrast because you have like slave

00:23:41   girl Leia which is kind of super

00:23:43   degrading but she also kills Jabba

00:23:47   so that's pretty excellent and she tries

00:23:49   to rescue Han from you know posing as

00:23:53   the bounty hunter so III obviously I

00:23:58   really like strong female leads but but

00:24:03   yeah so this is it's just for me the

00:24:04   same reason that like as you're growing

00:24:06   up you feel like one of the movies with

00:24:08   you guys two is one of the movies says

00:24:10   to you like this is Star Wars and that's

00:24:12   why Return of the Jedi is my number two

00:24:16   even though I think Empire is a better

00:24:18   movie not bothered by the Ewoks

00:24:21   I mean I grew it like like I said that

00:24:23   was the Star Wars movie I mean my

00:24:25   godmother dressed up as an Ewok when I

00:24:27   was like a young kid and as like

00:24:29   Halloween costume so and then they had

00:24:31   that okay John what is that weird movie

00:24:34   what do you walk in adventure yeah and

00:24:36   there's like the young girl with the

00:24:38   blond hair and they're kind of like Land

00:24:40   of the Lost style

00:24:41   yep that's the Ewok adventure I might oh

00:24:44   my gosh I've seen that movie that I

00:24:46   watched that all the time as a kid so

00:24:48   like I said this is it's more I don't I

00:24:51   don't love the Ewoks or anything but I

00:24:54   feel more attached to this movie through

00:24:57   history because that was it's the first

00:24:59   Star Wars movie that I saw and then I

00:25:01   saw the other ones after that so yeah

00:25:04   I'm much more emotionally attached to it

00:25:07   than it actually being a preferred movie

00:25:10   that I would watch now so that's why I

00:25:12   got my number two yeah that's fair go

00:25:15   ahead mark oh you're up all right so my

00:25:16   number two is Empire because my number

00:25:19   one was force awakens so number two

00:25:21   Empire for me you know I'm not as much

00:25:24   of a nerd as I think any of us hear

00:25:25   about Star Wars I think I'm probably the

00:25:27   least Star Wars nerdy I've probably seen

00:25:28   them the least number of times and have

00:25:30   given it the least amount of thought but

00:25:33   I can still clearly recognize that

00:25:35   Empire is just a great movie it's just

00:25:37   fantastic I like it compared to New Hope

00:25:41   seeing them again you like I don't you

00:25:43   know all of you guys saw them at much

00:25:45   younger ages than I did the first time I

00:25:47   ever saw them as far as I know was the

00:25:50   special editions of the 90s I never saw

00:25:51   the originals first like I saw the

00:25:53   originals later but I might the first

00:25:56   time I saw it was was in the 90s because

00:25:58   I just was you know very sheltered I

00:26:00   guess isn't that insane I think that's

00:26:03   insane it is I'm sure yeah I'm losing

00:26:05   all my whatever credibility I had left I

00:26:07   have now lost it but knowledge of pop

00:26:12   culture in general yes

00:26:14   did you see mall rats before seeing Star

00:26:16   Wars because in mall rats they have a

00:26:19   very in-depth discussion about what

00:26:21   movie is better and they also come up

00:26:23   with their the best movie being Empire I

00:26:26   mean I saw them at a at a similar time

00:26:29   but I think I probably I probably did

00:26:31   see mall rats first anyway continue

00:26:34   starwars I saw them all right before

00:26:35   seeing clerks which I'm sure is also

00:26:37   illegal but I didn't see both just in

00:26:40   the wrong order anyway it doesn't matter

00:26:41   so come on give you break I'm from Ohio

00:26:44   so it has it has strengths but you know

00:26:52   yeah anyway so all of that discussion

00:26:56   there so yeah so yeah my number two

00:27:00   empire because yeah it's just it's

00:27:02   really good it ties everything together

00:27:03   in the middle as John said I think John

00:27:05   covered it pretty well

00:27:05   I would also say that like having no

00:27:08   attachment to them and seeing them kind

00:27:11   of you know as an older person than most

00:27:12   people saw them at first and then seeing

00:27:14   them less frequently and we recently

00:27:16   weary watched all the the original

00:27:20   trilogy and some of the prequels about a

00:27:23   month ago - right right right after

00:27:26   seeing Fort force awakens we went and

00:27:27   re-watch all the originals we didn't

00:27:29   request them before free watch them

00:27:31   afterwards and and that solidified a lot

00:27:34   of stuff in my memory too because I

00:27:35   hadn't seen them in probably ten years

00:27:36   and so seeing them now as an adult with

00:27:41   a little more critical eye and a little

00:27:42   more distance from you know seeing them

00:27:44   the first time like in high school

00:27:45   basically I could see a lot of the lot

00:27:48   of the flaws in a new hope and it's not

00:27:51   that it's a bad movie but it's just that

00:27:52   you can see they laid a great groundwork

00:27:55   but you can kind of see like the

00:27:57   limitations of the technology the

00:27:59   limitations of their budget it kind of

00:28:01   shows and doesn't age as well whereas

00:28:03   Empire they clearly had advanced in so

00:28:06   many ways technologically skill wise and

00:28:08   they had way bigger production budget

00:28:10   obviously just from you know all the

00:28:12   different locations and sets and

00:28:13   everything and I feel like that's really

00:28:16   where it came into its own and it was

00:28:18   before it got a chance to be stupid and

00:28:20   as John was saying it you know it came

00:28:22   at a really good point in like the story

00:28:24   arcs of all the characters and tying the

00:28:26   whole thing together it was just a

00:28:28   really solid movie and I think seeing it

00:28:32   now I having not seen them for like a

00:28:33   decade Empire of all the ones that

00:28:36   existed before the force awakens Empire

00:28:39   I think clearly holds up the best over

00:28:42   time so Tina you're number two so I had

00:28:48   time picking my number two and I think a

00:28:49   lot of it had to do with your reasoning

00:28:51   for having trouble picking force

00:28:53   awakens' for number one but I think I'm

00:28:55   gonna go with force awakens' for my

00:28:57   number two the hesitation is just

00:28:59   because it is a newer movie and I've

00:29:01   only seen it a few times but it is a

00:29:03   movie that I want to see again like

00:29:06   maybe after I see it a few more times

00:29:07   maybe my feelings will change but for

00:29:09   right now it's a movie that got you know

00:29:12   it's got me really excited about Star

00:29:13   Wars again it's it's just it's exciting

00:29:17   I the story was great I loved the way

00:29:19   they tied back to I mean I know a lot of

00:29:22   people complain about a lot of the

00:29:24   similarities in the storyline you know

00:29:26   following what Star Wars was like but I

00:29:28   didn't really that didn't bother me or I

00:29:30   enjoyed it or I I just really liked the

00:29:33   way to find out what the characters have

00:29:35   been up to and where they are now

00:29:37   I loved the new characters I loved the

00:29:39   strong female lead leads in the

00:29:41   characters and I also my favorite which

00:29:45   I can't believe anybody hasn't nobody's

00:29:46   mentioned is I love bb-8

00:29:48   he's just the coolest joyed cute he is I

00:29:53   mean just like r2 is cute but I don't

00:29:57   know BBB bb-8 is just loads better he's

00:30:00   like a little baby

00:30:00   he totally he Trump's r2 for me he

00:30:03   really does for me as well I mean just

00:30:05   the fact that like his head moves and

00:30:07   all the expression and in motion they

00:30:09   can have him you know do throughout the

00:30:12   movie I just I just love him like he's

00:30:15   just my favorite little droid you know

00:30:16   it's just especially the scene where

00:30:18   what was it bb-8 was trying to convince

00:30:21   or no sorry Finn was trying to convince

00:30:23   bb-8 to give them the what was it the

00:30:26   location of their resistance yeah to

00:30:28   live for him base until I for him in

00:30:30   like just just to see the way he was

00:30:31   bopping his head back and forth like

00:30:33   what you know what I don't know about

00:30:35   this and he's just the cutest Roy so

00:30:37   anyway I just I really liked the force

00:30:40   awakens I think I've I've seen it three

00:30:44   times actually there was one time where

00:30:47   a co-worker of mine we were kind of like

00:30:50   being a little bit slacker II at work

00:30:52   because it was like between the holidays

00:30:54   and we were just you know trolling

00:30:57   Fandango found that oh look the theater

00:30:59   right nearby has some seats available

00:31:01   oh you know somehow you know tickets

00:31:05   were purchased and don't tell anybody

00:31:14   yeah sorry I don't know I just it's a

00:31:18   movie right now that like I just I want

00:31:19   to see again I can't wait to see it

00:31:21   again when it comes out on video if I

00:31:23   had the time I'd probably go see it in

00:31:25   the theater again again it's that new

00:31:27   beginning type of movie that's just got

00:31:29   so much potential and I've got so much

00:31:31   excitement about it that you know who

00:31:33   knows the second movie if for whatever

00:31:35   reason it's a flop and horrible maybe I

00:31:37   won't feel as excited or you know fond

00:31:40   of force awakens but right now it's just

00:31:43   this one of those movies that just has

00:31:44   me really excited about where the Star

00:31:46   Wars franchise is going so that's my

00:31:49   number two awesome I'm so excited

00:31:52   alright John you're number two my number

00:31:55   two after I get through number one it

00:31:58   gets difficult because I want to pull a

00:31:59   Marco and be like and then there's the

00:32:00   rest of the movies see it's hard you got

00:32:04   you got a stick to the format actually

00:32:07   I'm sticking to it and really when I

00:32:09   thought about I don't think there's

00:32:11   there's much movement it's just that it

00:32:13   feels bad for me to put any of these

00:32:14   movies as like number four you know what

00:32:16   I mean because I like all them so much

00:32:17   but you do have to rank them so that's

00:32:19   the exercise do you have any two-way

00:32:20   arrows in your list like I don't in

00:32:22   question we have any ties or skipped

00:32:24   numbers I do not have numbers with names

00:32:26   next to them

00:32:27   alright so my number two may surprise

00:32:30   some people who have listened to me talk

00:32:31   about Star Wars for 70 hours I'm gonna

00:32:34   list Return of the Jedi

00:32:35   as my number two not because it is the

00:32:38   second best Star Wars movie because it

00:32:39   probably isn't but here's why since

00:32:42   Empire is the best movie and the heart

00:32:44   of the franchise for me and my favorite

00:32:46   part of the reason I like it is the

00:32:48   story is the way they set up the larger

00:32:51   story arc like you can almost discount

00:32:53   the first movie as introduced the

00:32:54   characters the universe and the ideas

00:32:56   it's kind of like like you know the

00:32:58   original Star Wars is kind of like The

00:32:59   Hobbit where it's like yeah they find

00:33:01   the ring and that's an important thing

00:33:03   but in the course of the hop but the

00:33:05   ring is just like another thing that's

00:33:06   part of it they also find you know sting

00:33:07   and also some other things like well

00:33:09   it's all part of the same soup of like

00:33:11   you find some magic stuff and you have a

00:33:13   band of people on the end there

00:33:14   that dragon and blah blah blah and

00:33:16   that's all well and good but you don't

00:33:18   realize that ring was actually really

00:33:20   really important and then they have the

00:33:21   whole Lord of the Rings set of books and

00:33:23   you realize oh that's the real battle

00:33:26   here for middle-earth that was just like

00:33:28   a you know The Hobbit was just like a

00:33:29   fun kind of adventure to introduce you

00:33:31   to the characters the world and all the

00:33:32   things and you didn't even know it but

00:33:34   during that thing you know they found

00:33:35   the ring then you find out how super

00:33:36   important is also the original Star Wars

00:33:39   sets up the characters the world the

00:33:41   force gives us our hero Luke and it's

00:33:43   almost as if like instead of Frodo being

00:33:44   in Lord of the Rings that Bilbo can

00:33:46   continued on right so he continues into

00:33:48   the next story and you have to set up

00:33:50   the real problem here which is Jedi are

00:33:52   gone except for this dude with a you

00:33:55   know a mask who sounds like James Earl

00:33:57   Jones and he's a big problem and you are

00:34:00   like you are potentially the only other

00:34:03   person who can fight him but you don't

00:34:05   even know what the force is and you have

00:34:06   to learn from these old people and this

00:34:07   weird green guy and by the way he turned

00:34:10   out to be your father does that

00:34:11   complicate things a little I don't know

00:34:12   and also he kind of kicked your butt in

00:34:14   that second movie so what are you gonna

00:34:16   do about the how do you how are you

00:34:17   going to fight and by the way the Empire

00:34:19   is you know you blew up the Death Star

00:34:20   for the Empire's coming back and by the

00:34:22   time of Return of the Jedi they're

00:34:23   rebuilding and you know this is this is

00:34:26   the climactic battle and I love Luke

00:34:29   Skywalker I love his arc from farm boy

00:34:30   to the end and in particular return the

00:34:32   Jedi as I talked about in the on the

00:34:34   episode the icomparable Return of the

00:34:36   Jedi is such a novel movie in the the

00:34:40   final battle is it between Luke who has

00:34:43   been trained as a good Jedi and the

00:34:45   light side of the force battling Darth

00:34:47   Vader and the Emperor and you've got the

00:34:48   whole space battle and you've got yes

00:34:50   the walks down there and Endor and and

00:34:52   all sorts of other things that are

00:34:53   basically like amped up versions of what

00:34:55   they were in a new hope because they

00:34:56   have so much bigger budgets and better

00:34:58   technology but the real battle for the

00:35:00   heart of the movie is going on on the

00:35:02   Death Star and instead of Luke winning

00:35:04   by killing Vader he wins by refusing to

00:35:07   kill Vader like he like when he gets the

00:35:10   upper hand in the fight they play sad

00:35:12   music because he is actually like in so

00:35:14   many movies like oh the good guys we

00:35:16   care about you know kindness and

00:35:17   strength but in the end the good guys

00:35:19   killed the bad guys right or at least

00:35:20   defeat them or dominate them physically

00:35:22   or do something like that and Yoda

00:35:24   during the whole second movie is like no

00:35:25   you know for knowledge and defense never

00:35:27   for attack

00:35:28   I can look like yeah yeah yeah but I

00:35:29   gotta go save my friends and that I'd be

00:35:31   handy if I could kill people to do that

00:35:32   um and in this movie all that you know

00:35:36   all that stuff about knowledge and

00:35:37   defense and never for attack and you

00:35:39   know to be at calm at peace and not to

00:35:41   give in to hate he actually listens he

00:35:42   figures it out so like when he gives in

00:35:44   to hate it he starts winning the fight

00:35:45   they play sad music and wait he's

00:35:47   winning now isn't it be like triumphant

00:35:49   yay we're killing Vader no his the whole

00:35:51   pacifist philosophy of the force pays

00:35:54   off in him figuring it out throwing his

00:35:56   lightsaber away and say I am a Jedi like

00:35:58   my father before my fruit he's not going

00:36:00   to fight he's he's refusing to when if

00:36:03   you had an action movie where the hero

00:36:04   wins by realizing you know what I

00:36:06   shouldn't fight I should I should

00:36:08   essentially concede the feat by throwing

00:36:10   away my weapon not trying any more than

00:36:12   the upper goes and is about to kill him

00:36:13   it almost kills him and his father who

00:36:15   he has redeemed spiritually if not

00:36:17   practically speaking because he's adult

00:36:18   still did terrible things

00:36:20   throws damper overboard and the good

00:36:23   guys win but the real victory was Luke

00:36:25   staying true to his philosophy and so

00:36:27   even though Return of the Jedi is a week

00:36:29   or movie and the Ewoks are kind of silly

00:36:31   and there's lots of sort of knowing

00:36:34   winks to the audience in that movie

00:36:36   that's slightly unbecoming for a

00:36:37   franchise that I took as seriously as I

00:36:39   did after Empire so I expect the fact

00:36:41   that it connects that arc into like the

00:36:43   story of Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader

00:36:45   that Luke's story without it's

00:36:48   incomplete because you can't you can't

00:36:49   you need return the Jedi to finish Luke

00:36:51   story and it's an amazing finish and I

00:36:54   love the way the story turns out I also

00:36:55   love the space bow at the end I can even

00:36:57   tolerate some of the silliness with the

00:36:59   Ewok so Return of the Jedi number two in

00:37:02   my heart if not in the eyes of the world

00:37:07   that's fair III first of all I would

00:37:10   love to have a new youtube series of

00:37:13   movies where the dialogue is replaced by

00:37:16   your summary of the dialogue like a

00:37:20   director's cut but Syracuse yeah guys I

00:37:24   can kill some people here you know if

00:37:28   you leave now save them you could but he

00:37:30   will sacrifice all fortune they've

00:37:31   fought and suffered and he's like well I

00:37:32   gotta do it cuz I'm a good guy alright

00:37:37   before we go on our sponsor of this

00:37:38   episode is Caspar

00:37:47   inherently force consumers into payment

00:37:49   notoriously high prices Kasper is

00:37:51   revolutionizing the mattress industry by

00:38:24   Queen and 950 for King those are

00:38:27   incredible prices for mattresses of this

00:38:30   that at least

00:38:31   and all Casper mattresses are made in

00:38:34   America now they understand that buying

00:39:44   four and using the code top four terms

00:39:47   and conditions do apply thank you so

00:39:49   much to Casper for supporting this show

00:39:50   and all of relay fm

00:39:52   all right TIFF number three

00:39:54   all right so like I said I'll keep this

00:39:56   short but number three for me is Empire

00:39:59   because that was my debate between 2:00

00:40:02   and 3:00 so sorry Empire you're number

00:40:05   three but for all the reasons that

00:40:08   everyone has stated but Wow please leave

00:40:12   no John yeah please yeah but yeah man

00:40:15   Empire was great

00:40:17   I like Empire a lot okay anyway ends on

00:40:20   such a downer

00:40:23   mark oh my number three is a new hope I

00:40:26   like it but I just don't like it as much

00:40:29   as the other ones so I mean it's getting

00:40:33   weak now it's my number three because I

00:40:34   like it more than my number four but

00:40:37   less than my number too earlier like a

00:40:43   new hope is good it's a solid good movie

00:40:46   it didn't quite aged as well as it had

00:40:49   in my head like once I saw it again I

00:40:52   was like oh yeah that's that's kind of

00:40:54   quaint at certain points but but overall

00:40:57   still a great movie so number three for

00:40:59   me do you know this one's a hard one for

00:41:03   me I don't know which one to pick so I'm

00:41:05   gonna be the waffler um somebody has to

00:41:07   John won't let me do it this episode so

00:41:10   it's gotta be you I mean it's it's a

00:41:13   close call between Empire and Return of

00:41:16   the Jedi right a knife to the heart to

00:41:24   John I'll give like a lukewarm I guess

00:41:28   I'll say Empire it's not it's it's

00:41:32   really is far from my favorite it's it's

00:41:35   a good movie I like it but I guess part

00:41:38   of it just being like that middle movie

00:41:40   I'm not as enthralled with it in terms

00:41:44   of like wanting to watch it again and

00:41:45   again I mean it was a very good movie

00:41:47   it's just not my favorite so that's it

00:41:50   now did you guys reveal your list to

00:41:52   each other before starting the show no

00:41:55   works

00:41:57   I'm just curious I wanted to know had

00:41:59   you ever had this conversation

00:42:00   yourselves separately of the show like

00:42:03   had you ever just talked about this and

00:42:05   rank your favorite Star Wars movies in

00:42:06   order for each other

00:42:08   nobody would know my number one is but

00:42:11   well that's obvious and I would have

00:42:13   known what her number one is too but

00:42:15   beyond that now I was somewhat surprised

00:42:18   he picked Return of the Jedi is number

00:42:20   two all right John

00:42:22   but you were number three number three

00:42:24   this whistle speaking of a knife to the

00:42:26   hearts will be a knife to the heart of

00:42:27   so many big Star Wars fans my number

00:42:29   three is the force awakens whoo sorry

00:42:32   I'm just really excited about that movie

00:42:34   the same problem everyone else has in

00:42:36   judging this and that it's so new and I

00:42:39   mean I loved the first right off the bat

00:42:41   I could say I loved watching it I had

00:42:42   fun I saw it four times I had fun every

00:42:44   single time I saw it every time I saw it

00:42:45   like I wanted to see it again I didn't

00:42:47   get sick of it it didn't lose its luster

00:42:49   like and I just had so much fun seems

00:42:51   like all the callbacks to the original

00:42:53   movies I am the audience for those

00:42:54   callbacks and I felt like they were done

00:42:56   in in a way that was sophisticated and

00:43:00   like I grown more at some of the

00:43:02   callbacks in Return of the Jedi

00:43:03   because we're trying the jelly there's

00:43:04   lots of callbacks to an open Empire and

00:43:06   some of those like yeah whatever the

00:43:09   force awakens did them all with enough

00:43:10   of a twist because it's new characters

00:43:12   this is a new situation it's not just

00:43:14   the same character saying the same lines

00:43:15   they said and new hope going oh yeah

00:43:17   Hans got a bad feeling about this again

00:43:19   like it was even when they pulled that

00:43:21   one out in the force awakens the context

00:43:23   was you know novel and it's you know

00:43:26   when an old Han says these things it

00:43:28   takes on a different twist than when the

00:43:30   young one does but I you know I just had

00:43:32   a great time seeing it like I was afraid

00:43:35   for this movie I tried to stay away from

00:43:37   spoilers I did watch the first trailer

00:43:38   didn't watch anything else about it I

00:43:39   wanted to go in as clean as possible to

00:43:41   give it the best chance and I think that

00:43:42   really helped because that first view in

00:43:44   the force awakens I'm going to remember

00:43:46   for a long time

00:43:47   because I just knew nothing like I

00:43:48   forgot was who was even in the movie

00:43:50   like it was just so great to just see

00:43:51   like here's a new movie in the Star Wars

00:43:53   universe and I have to say all the stuff

00:43:55   about having different people be heroes

00:43:59   and different people be in the movies

00:44:00   and the idea that one of the main

00:44:03   characters used to be a stormtrooper and

00:44:06   the idea that at various times multiple

00:44:08   people pick up the lightsabers but to

00:44:11   have the heroic moment be a young woman

00:44:14   instead of a young man I mean it just

00:44:16   makes sense to me

00:44:17   like like why would you make the same

00:44:19   movie again why would you actually have

00:44:20   like another guy

00:44:21   like Luke we already have Luke Luke is

00:44:23   Luke right make a new movie about new

00:44:24   people and new stories there's so many

00:44:26   stories you could possibly tell and I

00:44:27   love it that it is that these are the

00:44:30   characters they're choosing to do it

00:44:31   with I found myself just wrapped up and

00:44:35   rooting for Rey as much as I was wrapped

00:44:37   up in Luke and rooting for him and I

00:44:41   love I love the actress in the movie I

00:44:43   love Daisy Ridley I think she can

00:44:45   totally carry the franchise I like

00:44:48   seeing the old faces from my old movies

00:44:51   I think they were given noble roles and

00:44:54   and like they they weren't squandered

00:44:58   and but they also didn't sort of take

00:44:59   over the movie it's well balanced yeah

00:45:02   and I'm pretty sure this is I'm pretty

00:45:05   sure this is a pretty good movie like I

00:45:06   get a lot of it leans a lot of it on the

00:45:08   fact that you know I love Star Wars so

00:45:09   much that of course I'm going to love

00:45:10   this one

00:45:10   and it leans on the fact that the

00:45:12   callback the script and stuff all

00:45:14   written by clever people so who know how

00:45:17   to make it interesting and sophisticated

00:45:22   enough to entertain me as an adult so I

00:45:24   don't feel like they're pandering and I

00:45:25   don't feel like it's simplistic or

00:45:26   whatever and I feel like it was overall

00:45:30   pretty well structured and I think but

00:45:33   some of my hang-ups about the movie are

00:45:35   related to it not being exactly like one

00:45:37   of the other movies so I think as I get

00:45:38   more distance from it I will those

00:45:40   hang-ups will go away but the essential

00:45:42   goodness of the movie will remain it

00:45:45   could be that the force awaken closets

00:45:46   way up these rankings and in years as

00:45:48   they go now but Empire and Jedi they're

00:45:52   like they're they're a linked pair

00:45:54   because I feel like I'm I was so

00:45:56   satisfied with the ending of with the

00:45:58   end of the original trilogy with Luke's

00:46:00   story arc that I can't I can't separate

00:46:02   them I can't say empire and then force

00:46:04   awakens and then return the jibe is then

00:46:06   returned today would start falling

00:46:07   because then you're saying return the

00:46:08   Jedi it's on its own so Luke's story arc

00:46:10   isn't always will be the hardest or Star

00:46:13   Wars for me mostly because I don't know

00:46:15   what the rest of for a story arc is so

00:46:16   I'm ready for someone to come in and

00:46:18   change that but it's gonna be really

00:46:20   difficult because I saw Star Wars when I

00:46:22   was little and it's such a big part of

00:46:23   my life and you know all that stuff but

00:46:25   anyway the force awakens was a good

00:46:26   movie it's my number 3 fair enough

00:46:28   all right TIF number 4 number 4 I have

00:46:32   as a new hope sorry Tina

00:46:35   but disturbing lack of love for a new

00:46:39   hope well for me it was I was the

00:46:42   furthest removed from the a new hope I

00:46:43   think when I when I saw the movies

00:46:45   originally also I find Luke very whiny

00:46:48   in that movie so I'm not I'm not coming

00:46:52   at that movie from a place of it being a

00:46:56   huge part of my childhood so that's why

00:46:58   I totally I totally get why it's your

00:47:01   number one teen I do and but so yeah

00:47:05   it's number four for me just when we

00:47:08   especially when we watched it and we

00:47:11   really paid attention to a lot of the

00:47:14   things that we're going on and it were

00:47:16   like oh yeah that scene didn't age too

00:47:19   great and that's you know that's really

00:47:20   not a reason to not like the movie but

00:47:23   it is a reason for it to be my number

00:47:26   for now so yeah I have a new hope at my

00:47:32   number four but it is a thousand times

00:47:35   miles better than any of the prequels so

00:47:38   it has that plus you know it's the

00:47:41   origin story just like John said it's

00:47:43   it's the you know it's it's the start of

00:47:47   the whole thing and it definitely has a

00:47:49   great place after you remove all of the

00:47:52   terrible edits from it isn't that where

00:47:57   they like stuck Java in in that hangar

00:47:59   like that oh so I hate that as the worst

00:48:03   why the hell they do that it ruins Java

00:48:07   for me I know well he's supposed to like

00:48:09   he's that he appears you know at the end

00:48:11   that that you know at the Return of the

00:48:14   Jedi he's this big slug in a new hope

00:48:17   he's this like skinny sort of yes but he

00:48:21   doesn't have the same presence

00:48:23   no no he's looked he looks diminished it

00:48:25   like he's tiny and and Han steps on his

00:48:28   tail and it's more laughable it's so

00:48:31   goofy and he like squeaks like one of

00:48:34   those toys that you squeeze and it's

00:48:35   eyeball shoot out that's what it were my

00:48:39   but yeah yeah people out there are

00:48:44   special all you young people I mean come

00:48:47   on

00:48:47   watch these movies with

00:48:49   all of the garbage edits associated with

00:48:51   them because it makes it so much better

00:48:54   we were smarter what we would have done

00:48:56   for for this episode instead is ranked

00:49:00   our top four Star Wars movies but

00:49:02   including the special editions as

00:49:04   separate movies would that have changed

00:49:07   any top four though I don't know some of

00:49:10   them aren't changed that much like for

00:49:12   example is Empire special edition better

00:49:14   than whatever your number four movie is

00:49:16   for me anyway like because I'm bars my

00:49:18   favorite and special instrument part

00:49:19   they change stuff and made it worse but

00:49:21   not that much worse so you rather see

00:49:24   Empire twice than another then that'll

00:49:29   be complicated it's very difficult

00:49:31   figure but I agree that the changes in

00:49:33   and a new hope are just terrible yeah

00:49:36   you had Marco all right my number four

00:49:39   if anybody had been doing the math you

00:49:42   kind of roses only one left that's

00:49:43   actually good and that's Return of the

00:49:45   Jedi for me as we were watching them

00:49:48   that was the one where I felt like the

00:49:50   like the Camp eNOS of a lot of it just

00:49:53   it it it detracted enough from it for me

00:49:57   that I feel like and and looking at them

00:50:00   separately not considering it you know

00:50:02   like John is not considering it part of

00:50:04   empire like like the conclusion that

00:50:06   story and part of the reason I can do

00:50:08   that is because I don't really like Luke

00:50:11   like I I just don't really identify with

00:50:14   Luke in any meaningful way I I it was

00:50:16   not a part that was incredibly

00:50:19   well-written I think it was decently but

00:50:21   not like amazingly written I think the

00:50:23   acting that Mark Hamill did for that

00:50:25   part was also decent but not amazing and

00:50:28   and I just it you know as you said like

00:50:30   looks kind of like whiny like he's not

00:50:33   the best Jedi I mean no way is obviously

00:50:36   the superior Jedi clearly yeah but

00:50:39   overall like I because I'm just not that

00:50:41   crazy about Luke it's because she's a

00:50:43   Kenobi definitely that's the direction

00:50:46   they take but I unfortunately think it's

00:50:48   unlikely but I hope that's the direction

00:50:50   they don't take oh yeah why I don't want

00:50:53   her to be a Kenobi that would just be

00:50:55   kind of like so Kenobi how like Ben you

00:50:58   know Obi Wan's daughter they've entered

00:50:59   granddaughter everyone came Randall

00:51:01   makes me but then okay how did he have a

00:51:03   kid and why did he abandon you know like

00:51:05   it just makes me sad to think about like

00:51:08   how would she have gotten abandoned in

00:51:10   the first place and then I'd feel less

00:51:12   kind towards the Kenobi clan I guess

00:51:16   that's that's fair I mean like it

00:51:17   ideally she's brand-new and has no

00:51:20   lineage to one of the established

00:51:22   families right well that's what I hope

00:51:24   yeah but I think if she's gonna have a

00:51:26   lineage to one of the families I'd

00:51:28   rather her be a Kenobi than a Skywalker

00:51:29   true yeah I think that the Kenobi's are

00:51:33   better Jedi's than the Skywalker's yeah

00:51:35   the history proved that out but anyway

00:51:38   so yeah the one who actually stayed true

00:51:41   to the teachings obi-wan is the one who

00:51:43   thought he could train someone better

00:51:45   than Master Yoda but he was wrong he

00:51:46   ended up creating Vader accidentally and

00:51:48   the only way he could help was by dying

00:51:50   nobly in front of Luke the true hero who

00:51:52   eventually came through in the end this

00:51:54   is I will not stand for this Luke do to

00:51:59   kylo Ren yeah Luke made the same thing

00:52:08   the track record of the Skywalker's is

00:52:11   pretty weak

00:52:12   everyone's failing all over the place

00:52:14   everyone everyone's whining in the first

00:52:20   movie he was in Empire he was he was bad

00:52:23   at training but Anakin whines throughout

00:52:26   the entire he wasn't afraid he's gonna

00:52:29   do what it takes if he didn't quite

00:52:30   understand the force he was a bad

00:52:32   student but he was trying yeah but he's

00:52:34   not a super powerful Jedi I mean Ray's

00:52:36   kicking some serious butt you'll die you

00:52:38   haven't learned the lesson of Jedi as

00:52:39   the whole idea is not to be super

00:52:41   powerful and destroy everybody now even

00:52:44   ray didn't kill kylo Ren Rey after she

00:52:46   found she defeated colorin didn't leap

00:52:48   over there and stab him through the

00:52:49   heart with lightsaber she continued on

00:52:51   her she hasn't even been trained in the

00:52:53   force yet but she knew she's much more

00:52:54   likable than Luke whoo yeah she's much

00:52:57   more likable because she wasn't complain

00:52:58   yeah she's got a horrible life you know

00:53:02   orphaned abandoned on some desert

00:53:04   planets eating green she's pretty

00:53:07   well-adjusted given that yeah exactly

00:53:09   yeah I know I like Ren - I'm just saying

00:53:12   that

00:53:12   Luke Ren unite Ren yeah I read ray

00:53:16   cuz the the force makes her mentally

00:53:17   strong and she's like ready for it it's

00:53:20   so stable she's like you know if you if

00:53:22   you held your hand out

00:53:23   you know Luke's the guy with you know

00:53:26   yeah little shakey shake here and then I

00:53:29   feel like it's just like boom straight

00:53:31   as an arrow we don't know at the end of

00:53:32   every story is gonna be like whatever

00:53:39   it's bad I'm closing my eyes to it like

00:53:41   the prequels yeah I mean would you

00:53:43   rather have your life in the hands of a

00:53:46   Skywalker doing their job correctly or

00:53:48   or Rey doing her job correctly I don't

00:53:51   know we don't know enough about Ray yet

00:53:52   she just learned about the force I'd

00:53:54   still trust Rey me too

00:54:01   alright so Tina you're number four so my

00:54:05   number four um that would be Return of

00:54:09   the Jedi so this right um this was I

00:54:13   think well this is definitely the first

00:54:14   Star Wars movie I saw in a theater and

00:54:17   was could have been the first movie I

00:54:19   ever saw in a theater I'm not sure about

00:54:20   that one first like I don't understand

00:54:22   the I don't quite appreciate the the

00:54:25   hate for the Ewoks and maybe it's

00:54:27   because when I first saw this movie I

00:54:29   was seven eight years old which is you

00:54:32   know prime age group for who would want

00:54:34   to who would like the Ewok so I don't

00:54:36   know they don't bother me near as much

00:54:38   as they bother most people but um I

00:54:40   don't I I really like Return of the Jedi

00:54:43   you know not my favorite obviously but I

00:54:45   think it was a good movie a good end to

00:54:48   the story and much better than anything

00:54:51   that came after it or before it in terms

00:54:54   of prequels right Japan you like it so

00:54:57   that's my number four John so obviously

00:55:01   obviously my number four is a new hope

00:55:05   you're gonna see attack of the clones

00:55:08   for I'm pretty excited yeah I mean and I

00:55:12   like a new hope like a new hope is it

00:55:14   complicated because it is so important

00:55:16   like outside of the favorite thing it is

00:55:17   so important as in setting up the

00:55:19   franchise and just important in terms of

00:55:21   movies in general and it is a really

00:55:24   good movie like you watch it and despite

00:55:25   all the things that mark

00:55:26   find out before which are totally true

00:55:27   like the the creepiness of the sets and

00:55:30   even some of the acting and the script

00:55:32   has some terrible parts in it like

00:55:34   there's lots of hints that George Lucas

00:55:36   can't write dialogue in a new hope

00:55:38   but the essential goodness and the

00:55:40   essential structure of like it's an

00:55:42   exciting adventure you get wrapped up in

00:55:44   it like that whole like in the final

00:55:46   sequence with the trench run and

00:55:47   everything it is so sort of silly and

00:55:49   simple and by the numbers but you still

00:55:51   get wrapped up and it's a weld

00:55:52   constructed action sequence and you care

00:55:55   about Luke because you could see them

00:55:56   you know complaining too you know back

00:55:59   on his home planet and complaining about

00:56:01   having do chores and stuff and all of a

00:56:02   sudden ease in the trench run it's a

00:56:03   wish fulfillment fantasy of like you can

00:56:05   go from farm bar right to saving the

00:56:07   universe in the course of one movie is

00:56:08   exactly the what kind of movie this is

00:56:10   they get medals at the end for crying

00:56:11   out loud there's just a good hearted

00:56:15   happy quality movie and and the most

00:56:18   important thing it has going for it just

00:56:20   introduced the entire Star Wars universe

00:56:21   the forest lightsabers x-wings TIE

00:56:23   fighter it's just everything that is so

00:56:25   amazing about Star Wars that caused us

00:56:27   people of a certain age to just go gaga

00:56:29   for it to make it the phenomenon it is

00:56:30   all that starts off in a new home but I

00:56:33   if I had to choose one Star Wars movie

00:56:35   to watch I would pick any of my top

00:56:37   three above this one simply because

00:56:39   they're they're just better movies and

00:56:40   I'm an older person and I have most of

00:56:43   my nostalgia is wrapped up in Empire

00:56:45   rather than a new hope it's probably

00:56:48   because you know I was too young to

00:56:50   really appreciate a new hope when I

00:56:51   first saw it and so Empire was the one

00:56:53   where my brain had grown enough to

00:56:55   really get you know wrapped up in it

00:56:57   like you know a new hope I'd see and it

00:56:58   was like x-wing sigh where's lightsabers

00:57:00   and it wasn't critical or interested in

00:57:03   the movie at all and then Empire came it

00:57:04   just really got me all wrapped up in it

00:57:06   what age do you think you were when you

00:57:08   saw Star Wars and Empire I don't know

00:57:10   because you certainly didn't see either

00:57:12   or at least the first one in the theater

00:57:14   my parents took me one year DT come out

00:57:17   my parents took me to see et in a

00:57:18   theatre and it scared the pants off me

00:57:20   ET is horrifying Return of the Jedi came

00:57:23   out in 83 I know well what I'm saying is

00:57:25   like it's conceivable that my parents

00:57:27   took me to an age inappropriate movie

00:57:29   like I'm my using ET is my citing an

00:57:31   example of a movie they should not have

00:57:33   taken me to at the time they took me to

00:57:34   it those sand people creeped me out too

00:57:36   and I was a kid yeah I'm pretty sure I

00:57:38   didn't see like Kassar was released

00:57:39   instead

00:57:39   seven but is released in 79 I believe

00:57:42   and I might have seen it then because my

00:57:44   parents were Star Wars fans and they

00:57:46   would be like oh baby he's old enough to

00:57:48   see this now because I would have been

00:57:49   you know five ish in 79 that's when Alex

00:57:51   saw Star Wars so it's conceivable I saw

00:57:53   it them but I don't know I don't

00:57:54   remember exactly it's not like I have

00:57:56   some recollection of seeing a new

00:57:58   openness theater so so I don't know but

00:58:03   for whatever reason like it's not like

00:58:05   my critical facilities for such that I

00:58:06   realized it was it wasn't as good a

00:58:08   movie it's just that like Empire was

00:58:10   just so amazing and and you know it did

00:58:12   crank everything up even to a level of

00:58:14   like a you know a young kid can realize

00:58:16   everything is bigger better and faster

00:58:17   here and more serious and more grim and

00:58:19   even at a young age that appealed to me

00:58:21   so yeah a new hope like it's hard to say

00:58:24   it's the weakest movie because it's so

00:58:27   important and it is so solid and sturdy

00:58:30   and it's not like the same time to think

00:58:33   if it's on yeah I'll watch it I'll keep

00:58:34   watching I've seen in a million times

00:58:36   like there's nothing like bad about it

00:58:38   it's just not quite as sophisticated as

00:58:41   the of the three movies that I listed it

00:58:43   is a little bit more a little bit more

00:58:45   on the nose a little bit more Pat and in

00:58:49   a little weaker and it's not even like

00:58:51   the effects that bother me it's it's

00:58:52   mostly the script and some of the

00:58:55   logistics of the story the other three

00:58:57   movies even the one with the Ewoks just

00:58:59   seem like they just appeal to me more

00:59:03   fair enough alright now that's the end

00:59:07   of our top four lists however I think we

00:59:10   should totally do top four worst there's

00:59:13   only three left but III totally think we

00:59:15   should do five through seven here oh yes

00:59:18   called top four not top seven it's the

00:59:21   name of the show you name the show you

00:59:22   made up the show all right this episode

00:59:24   is now called top seven no no no it's

00:59:26   not four but you're got four worst

00:59:28   movies but only three left so so you're

00:59:31   three you're three worst so so obviously

00:59:35   we all have the three prequels left

00:59:37   nobody put the prequels on the top floor

00:59:38   because we are saying so so I think we

00:59:43   can all paint do we all agree at least

00:59:46   that is episode three the least bad of

00:59:49   them I don't agree no I didn't agree

00:59:52   there okay

00:59:53   so I think there's some discussion to be

00:59:54   had here that who is the least bad oh

00:59:56   listen uh we got a lot of discussion

00:59:59   here

00:59:59   here

01:00:00   for me I think two was worse than what

01:00:01   happened in - nothing no no the middle

01:00:10   of the movie was the really really long

01:00:12   feminine hygiene product ad yeah they're

01:00:17   frolicking by the waterfall with a giant

01:00:22   bra like I've ever seen it was such a

01:00:25   painful for all the two really focuses

01:00:28   on the romance between and it's it is

01:00:33   one of the worst at one of the least

01:00:36   plausible love stories that's when

01:00:40   Anakin gets super creepy yeah yeah so so

01:00:46   I would say like much so I don't even

01:00:48   think I can rank them because they're so

01:00:49   bad I mean see at least like in in three

01:00:53   there's enough action going on and most

01:00:56   of it it doesn't matter and is way too

01:00:58   long drawn-out but there's enough action

01:01:00   going on in three that the plot does

01:01:03   meaningfully advance in a way that is

01:01:06   not as boring as the first two so I

01:01:08   think three is the least bad of the

01:01:11   prequels right where he like just

01:01:15   doesn't fight for half of it what's his

01:01:17   name doesn't matter he dies anyway is

01:01:27   not it's not police bad as far as I'm

01:01:30   concerned because as as I've talked

01:01:32   about again on the apparel like the

01:01:34   whole the whole idea of the prequels the

01:01:35   whole reason we have prequels is like

01:01:37   could we get we've got the original

01:01:38   trilogy we've got Darth Vader and we

01:01:39   learn that it used to be a good guy at

01:01:42   hang out with obi-wan right and so the

01:01:44   the job of the prequels is I how did

01:01:46   this good guy turn into Darth Vader like

01:01:48   that's the whole job that's the whole

01:01:50   reason the movies exist we don't care

01:01:51   about anything else in these movies

01:01:52   except we know that this guy's gonna end

01:01:54   up as Darth Vader and we're like how'd

01:01:57   that happen cuz he was nice and then we

01:01:58   got like three sentences about it and it

01:01:59   became bad so they got three movies to

01:02:01   explain what he turns bad and they blow

01:02:03   the first two not explaining that they

01:02:05   make two terrible movies don't explain

01:02:06   that they got one movie left explain to

01:02:08   me why this guy becomes Darth Vader

01:02:10   right because the first two movies

01:02:11   nothing could explain to

01:02:13   he could become Darth Vader he explained

01:02:15   to you why he is annoying jerk but not

01:02:17   because Darth Vader is a particular

01:02:20   character who hit three movies to see

01:02:21   and we kind of know what Darth Vader's

01:02:23   deal is and those two movies by the way

01:02:25   the first two you're like there's no way

01:02:27   and help this guy is Darth Vader I just

01:02:28   don't see it right but you know one

01:02:31   movie left maybe you can pull off and I

01:02:32   don't it's it's dreadful it's boring

01:02:34   it's inexplicable that he makes this

01:02:37   turn like there's no there's no

01:02:40   explanation for why he becomes Darth

01:02:41   Vader he's mad about stupid stuff for no

01:02:43   reason it's it's like he he's not it's

01:02:47   just I don't these movies exasperated me

01:02:50   but I having that one because I can't

01:02:52   enjoy the movies I'm like this is your

01:02:54   last chance to explain it and this is

01:02:55   all you've got and they have long

01:02:57   drawn-out battle sequences but I don't

01:02:59   care about them anymore

01:03:00   I dislike Anakin I he's never gonna be

01:03:02   Darth Vader obi-wan doesn't come off

01:03:04   very well either they have the

01:03:06   inexplicable death of Luke and Leia's

01:03:09   mother and just and like the whole thing

01:03:12   is like oh they gotta play the big Darth

01:03:13   Vader mask on him he's becoming Darth

01:03:15   Vader like that payoff was totally

01:03:17   undercut by like they didn't earn that

01:03:19   pay I was like no just get that outfit

01:03:20   off the screen this is not Darth Vader

01:03:22   there's no way in hell this is Darth

01:03:23   Vader you didn't explain to me how this

01:03:24   is gonna be Darth Vader so that's why I

01:03:26   throw Revenge of the Sith out it is

01:03:28   actually at the bottom of my list so you

01:03:32   actually I hate that death where she

01:03:33   dies cuz she's sad yeah no we're useless

01:03:38   robots we can't tell you and by the way

01:03:40   we couldn't tell you the gender of your

01:03:41   child before and/or that it was twins

01:03:44   yeah we have spaceships we maybe not oh

01:03:49   don't tell me I want to be surprised

01:03:50   do you want to be surprised there's two

01:03:51   babies in there too is that what you

01:03:53   want to be surprised yeah I was like why

01:03:55   isn't she getting like you know checked

01:03:56   out isn't there like science it was a

01:03:58   second you want to keep it a secret but

01:04:00   it's like just for the health of the

01:04:01   baby you have to do some minimal stuff

01:04:03   and then when they do like the you know

01:04:04   the prenatal care no is she taking her

01:04:08   vitamins that's why she died yeah that I

01:04:12   mean I totally agree with all of that

01:04:14   criticism of three however I think one

01:04:17   and two were worse technic ones is

01:04:20   giving it a run for money just because I

01:04:22   feel like tank phones is just really bad

01:04:25   and if I take away the

01:04:26   fact that your this is the last movie

01:04:28   and you blow it and you dare to bring in

01:04:30   Darth Vader's costume and for pretend

01:04:32   this guy is Darth Vader if I take that

01:04:34   away Attack of the Clones may be worse

01:04:35   because really just some of that love

01:04:37   scene dialogue is like like seriously

01:04:39   this made it to film in front of

01:04:41   audiences I don't understand I mean see

01:04:42   to me the rise of this jerk as Darth

01:04:45   Vader makes perfect sense if you look at

01:04:47   it as wouldn't you be mad if you grew up

01:04:50   in that stupid world I am so mad there

01:04:56   are no personal connections anywhere I'm

01:04:58   so mad that no dialogue happens in my

01:05:00   world that makes any sense at all and

01:05:02   every event that happens is literally

01:05:04   just people sitting around a conference

01:05:06   room talking to each other that's the

01:05:07   that's everything that matters is just

01:05:09   spoken as exposition in a conference

01:05:11   room and all the actual action doesn't

01:05:14   matter yeah my my best of the prequels

01:05:17   we talked about this in the income from

01:05:18   we we all had to have the same

01:05:20   uncomfortable conversation and like I

01:05:22   have to pick a best one and we kind of

01:05:25   not came to consensus but enough like

01:05:28   there was a majority I think of voting

01:05:29   saying that the Phantom Menace was

01:05:30   actually probably the best one mostly

01:05:33   because you can divorce it so much

01:05:34   because the anagen is a little kid and

01:05:35   who cares little kids are stupid and

01:05:37   silly and it's like a self-contained

01:05:38   adventure movie kind of like a new hope

01:05:40   was and you can separate it from any

01:05:42   Darth Vader stuff and then the Jar Jar

01:05:44   making the movie terrible you know

01:05:50   lightsabers at the end and fighting and

01:05:53   obi-wan is young and it's interesting to

01:05:54   see him like that and it's just it's a

01:05:56   terrible movie but c-3po being built by

01:05:59   Anakin I mean come on like why doesn't

01:06:01   he remember any like that's this but ah

01:06:03   it just makes me so mad that those

01:06:05   droids are in the prequels at all I'm

01:06:07   like why are they there it's ruining

01:06:09   everything like Artoo's like dark who

01:06:12   becomes like a rocket ship like in like

01:06:16   powers go when he was like older in the

01:06:19   other movie is like Oh r2 lost all of

01:06:21   his jetpacks I think God I can fly I

01:06:27   mean I want to smash everything like I'm

01:06:31   I totally agree that three is horrible

01:06:33   but I think one and two or worse and see

01:06:35   for me I actually would rank these as 3

01:06:39   being the least

01:06:40   bad one being in the middle and two

01:06:42   being the worst because while they're

01:06:45   all horrible at least one has you know

01:06:49   as you said it's like things are

01:06:51   happening like a kid's movie you can

01:06:52   forgive it oh you can say oh this is a

01:06:53   movie for three-year-olds right like

01:06:55   things are happening they don't really

01:06:57   matter they're not very well written but

01:06:59   at least something is happening in three

01:07:01   things are happening that do matter just

01:07:04   in batlike they're happening in bad ways

01:07:06   like they're just not well written in to

01:07:08   nothing happens like it's it's like it's

01:07:12   like two and a half hours of almost

01:07:14   nothing and you wonder like as you're

01:07:17   sitting there I think - as I sat through

01:07:19   - felt the longest it's just like I

01:07:22   can't believe this isn't over yet

01:07:24   and it looks like a screensaver and like

01:07:27   I what what is going on here I rather

01:07:29   browse my iPhone during - than any of

01:07:31   the other movies that's why I'm gonna

01:07:34   rank it as better because I can ignore

01:07:37   it eat more easily and it has less

01:07:40   extreme things that make me insanely mad

01:07:43   where it does number one has Jar Jar so

01:07:46   like oh my that yeah I get very easily

01:07:50   perturbed about things like that and he

01:07:52   just gets under my skin so badly I can't

01:07:54   handle even seeing his face

01:07:57   number three gets me so mad because she

01:08:00   dies of sad and he also like goes around

01:08:02   killing children so like that's pretty

01:08:04   disturbing and number three by the way

01:08:06   Padme is like she was like an action

01:08:09   star in the first movie and I don't know

01:08:11   what she was wearing outfits in the

01:08:12   second by the third movie she does

01:08:13   nothing she sits in a little hotel room

01:08:16   she's with child

01:08:19   all she does is lose clothing yeah yeah

01:08:22   the second one she gets her midriff

01:08:24   scratched off but at least she's like

01:08:25   clambering around and fighting and

01:08:26   trying to like whatever in the third

01:08:28   movie she is confined

01:08:30   yeah but the Jedi see the male Jedi's

01:08:32   still have like their robes with creases

01:08:34   like iron creases in them that they're

01:08:36   so pristine and not a speck and she is

01:08:39   like mauled and half dressed by the end

01:08:41   of that battle how fair is that

01:08:43   ridiculous yeah I mean like for me I'm

01:08:44   like from a strong female character

01:08:46   point-of-view 3 I think is the most

01:08:47   offensive

01:08:49   she's totally sideline yeah yeah and

01:08:52   she's she like you know in

01:08:54   in the first one and part of the second

01:08:56   I think she like cares about politics

01:08:59   and is really good at her job and

01:09:01   senator yeah she's really involved and

01:09:04   and you know has is very politically you

01:09:06   know driven and everything and then like

01:09:08   oh now I'm pregnant and I just stopped

01:09:10   caring about the entire government

01:09:14   what's going on out there any but it's

01:09:17   like the writing of her in that is so

01:09:20   insulting to women is so bad it's so

01:09:23   implausible that she would fall for him

01:09:25   in the second movie that she would stay

01:09:26   with him in the third movie at all right

01:09:28   what's with that bondage outfit they put

01:09:30   her into and they're like the romance

01:09:32   scene in front of the fire I'm like oh

01:09:35   we're all the choices were wrong that

01:09:38   whole it's just like it's an the whole

01:09:40   love story was little I was just mad he

01:09:43   was just absolutely it was like it was

01:09:45   written by a 15 year old geek 15 year

01:09:48   olds are more sophisticated

01:09:51   they're pretty good alright so I guess

01:09:56   our did we are we done do we know our

01:09:58   rankings for the provider no we were

01:10:00   just talking the loudest talk once we

01:10:02   get through the four all bets are off

01:10:03   and we could we could just list off our

01:10:05   rankings of the from from the number

01:10:08   five six and seven seven being the worst

01:10:10   all right so - five six seven two three

01:10:14   one okay all right and I go 3-1 to Tina

01:10:20   and I go one three - all right another

01:10:24   number two in the bottom I find the

01:10:25   numbering confusing I'm giving you the

01:10:29   number five Phantom Menace number six

01:10:32   attack of the clones number seven

01:10:33   Revenge of the Sith tackle clones is a

01:10:35   real contender for worst agreed on that

01:10:40   okay so on that note yeah I think I

01:10:44   think we're all done yeah guys thank you

01:10:46   for coming and joining us and I'm super

01:10:48   excited to get another great lady into

01:10:50   podcasting miss Tina

01:10:52   oh I hope maybe you join us or someone

01:10:57   again I think it was did you have fun

01:11:00   was it good

01:11:01   this is your podcasting debut it is the

01:11:05   question is will you ever do it again

01:11:06   like did we did we

01:11:07   scare you off are you now kind of into

01:11:09   it I have to hear myself first but yeah

01:11:15   I like bringing all the new voices out

01:11:17   on top for the most important

01:11:19   influential podcast oh you know I know

01:11:21   what I wanted to mention if a really fun

01:11:24   show that I was watching with Alex

01:11:25   recently about Star Wars that I find

01:11:28   absolutely hilarious especially when it

01:11:30   comes to the prequels is it's on I guess

01:11:33   it's on Disney XD but it's the Lego Star

01:11:36   Wars droid tales mmm and it's it's like

01:11:40   it's a c-3po r2d2 story that that takes

01:11:45   place after the Return of the Jedi

01:11:47   celebrations where r2d2 gets kidnapped

01:11:51   and c-3po is going to go try and find

01:11:53   him and they're they do a lot of

01:11:55   flashback scenes where c-3po is telling

01:11:57   various people who are helping him you

01:12:00   know the whole story starting from

01:12:02   episode 1 through Return of the Jedi and

01:12:04   there's some really funny zingers in it

01:12:07   in references to like to the first three

01:12:09   movies like there was this one scene

01:12:11   where it's like the it was around the

01:12:13   pod racing scene in episode 1 where

01:12:15   qui-gon and and whoever they were

01:12:18   talking with somebody about entering the

01:12:21   pod race and in the background is um

01:12:23   Watto is he the flying guy yep yeah he's

01:12:26   like in the in the background and he's

01:12:28   waving a red flag and he's saying red

01:12:30   flag get your red flag and like it was

01:12:32   sort of you know in reference to you

01:12:35   know they're talking about Anakin doing

01:12:36   in the podrace and it's like you know

01:12:37   red flag Anakin is gonna turn into

01:12:39   something bad you know and they just do

01:12:41   all sorts of little quips like that

01:12:43   through it but I don't know I thought

01:12:44   that was a really fun serious I think

01:12:47   there's like five episodes and it's all

01:12:49   done in Lego yeah it's very like you

01:12:52   would you would think that George Lucas

01:12:54   was not involved because it makes fun of

01:12:56   the prequels merciless yes you would

01:12:58   think like that that someone made this

01:12:59   on youtube and it's not a sanctioned

01:13:01   thing but it totally is well no it's

01:13:03   Disney so it was I think post Lucas I

01:13:06   know I know but on this thing it's like

01:13:07   you would think it's not official like

01:13:08   Star Wars but it is and I maybe it

01:13:10   wouldn't have gotten made of Lucas was

01:13:11   still involved but I mean it makes fun

01:13:13   at all the movies it makes yes you know

01:13:15   it is irreverent about all of them but

01:13:17   every joke you can think of making for

01:13:18   the prequels they make it on the

01:13:19   so it's it's it's worth watching it's

01:13:21   funnier than you think it's gonna be if

01:13:22   you know a lot about Star Wars you know

01:13:24   check it out cool all right thanks a lot

01:13:27   for coming on mr. mrs. siracusa and I

01:13:30   think we're all done for the night right

01:13:32   yeah yeah cool

01:13:34   all right we'll see you whenever we do

01:13:35   the show next I don't know next month

01:13:37   what are we doing just too much of oh I

01:13:43   don't know what we're gonna eat next

01:13:45   Sunday we got to do this mio sauce one

01:13:47   next next let me see you guys in person

01:13:49   somewhere we're doing tomato sauce

01:13:50   alright stay on target all right yeah

01:13:53   thanks everyone don't end this one on a

01:13:56   gargle wait well I suppose end it on

01:13:58   you'll find something okay sour sound

01:14:01   effect there's a million of them are

01:14:02   there any Star Wars gargles
