Top Four

Top Four 8: Take-Out Food

00:00:00   you ready I'm ready we're back top four

00:00:03   chief I can't anyway was that was that

00:00:09   our intro we're gonna use that we'll see

00:00:12   anyway so this week I picked the topic

00:00:15   again that's gonna be getting old saying

00:00:18   that over and over and over because

00:00:19   Marko never picks the topic but we I've

00:00:22   decided to do a special for Thanksgiving

00:00:25   since we just had our Halloween special

00:00:27   and this one is a Halloween

00:00:31   tinea says Halloween she says she says

00:00:34   Halloween

00:00:35   and so now I'm I'm infected you've

00:00:38   become a Halloween person no I don't

00:00:40   know what I am I'm confused

00:00:42   yeah we got to work on that okay so

00:00:44   since we did oh he wouldn't silence hops

00:00:47   come here house all right I'll tell you

00:00:50   all what we're doing d well Marco is

00:00:51   financing comps we are going to talk

00:00:53   about

00:00:54   he's so distracting he's looking hurt I

00:00:58   heard that everything is loud okay so

00:01:02   we're gonna do a special for

00:01:04   Thanksgiving and I thought that we

00:01:07   should talk about our favorite takeout

00:01:08   food because everyone gets takeout food

00:01:11   the day before Thanksgiving so because

00:01:13   no one wants to have that food in their

00:01:15   house too because they're cooking the

00:01:17   big meal so you want something quick and

00:01:19   easy that you don't have to clog up your

00:01:21   refrigerator because it's full of food

00:01:23   or you're traveling so you don't want to

00:01:25   have a whole bunch of food laying around

00:01:27   so I think this early week of the

00:01:30   holiday week start kicking off

00:01:32   Thanksgiving for America Markov is

00:01:38   takeout food so yeah let's talk about

00:01:42   our favorite takeout food yeah so this

00:01:44   is actually a pretty broad topic I

00:01:46   thought when you first mentioned this I

00:01:48   thought could we do a whole episode on

00:01:50   that and then I started to take notes on

00:01:52   what I think my top ones would be and

00:01:54   why

00:01:55   and I very very quickly filled up an

00:01:57   entire iPad page with notes Wow yeah

00:02:01   well the small iPad know okay yeah not

00:02:03   the giant the giant one would have been

00:02:05   impressive it would have been but I'm

00:02:07   not that impressive

00:02:07   so so I have a lot of notes on this okay

00:02:10   how do you want to do it aren't you good

00:02:12   why don't you start with your

00:02:13   well when we first started listening

00:02:15   then we could only less three but I said

00:02:17   we can open it up to possible lunch

00:02:18   foods as well if we need to but I really

00:02:21   don't think we need to I have my three

00:02:23   favorite foods takeout food types all

00:02:27   right for forum this is top four I have

00:02:30   my four favorite takeout food types

00:02:32   pretty set so do you want to go least

00:02:36   favorite to favorite

00:02:37   let's do least favorite to favorite okay

00:02:39   what do you have well so I have a whole

00:02:43   I have like more way more than four on

00:02:45   the list of course I don't know how much

00:02:46   you want to talk about the ones that

00:02:47   didn't really make the top four one of

00:02:49   the ones that didn't make the top four

00:02:51   for me was burritos it didn't make my

00:02:53   top four either but I do have it on the

00:02:55   the sideline list

00:02:57   Yesi and so my burritos made it for me

00:03:00   likes it about number six or so I like

00:03:03   burritos a line this would include

00:03:05   places like Chipotle at that day I have

00:03:08   little Baja Fresh stuff like that you

00:03:10   know how fresh was so good yeah yeah

00:03:13   they still exist like in terrible

00:03:15   versions and rest stops but I haven't

00:03:16   actually are they really that fresh then

00:03:18   no they will they they they call

00:03:21   something different the ones in

00:03:22   restaurants are called Baja Fresh

00:03:23   Express or something like that it's a

00:03:25   variant on the name and I tried it once

00:03:28   I would not recommend that you know cuz

00:03:29   their whole thing was originally no can

00:03:32   openers no freezers right so everything

00:03:36   was pretty like yeah it was actually

00:03:37   fresh yeah yeah this this place was was

00:03:41   nothing like the the actual Baja Fresh

00:03:43   places were when I last had them in

00:03:45   Pittsburgh I used to prefer Baja Fresh

00:03:47   way over to pull a yeah it's so much

00:03:49   different and and Chipotle's good I've

00:03:52   we actually had one of the first

00:03:53   Chipotle's on my block growing up like

00:03:56   it opened up while I was still in high

00:03:57   school really well yeah it was it was

00:03:59   Columbus

00:04:00   yeah well because Columbus was a test

00:04:02   market city for a lots of things it's

00:04:03   very it's like it's like the most

00:04:04   average city in America and it's fairly

00:04:07   cheap to develop stuff in so generally

00:04:09   the big chains like Panera was was visit

00:04:12   was there that was the first time I ever

00:04:13   had Panera wasn't was in Ohio

00:04:16   exactly yeah generally chains they don't

00:04:19   they don't often originate in Columbus

00:04:21   but they usually hit Columbus pretty

00:04:23   close to the beginning of their

00:04:24   nationwide expansion for

00:04:27   for that reason anyway so I would say

00:04:28   burritos I like burritos but the reason

00:04:31   they didn't rank high for me was that

00:04:33   they just there just isn't that much

00:04:35   variety at most burrito places for

00:04:37   things that you would actually order

00:04:38   it's like generally you figure out the

00:04:40   one burrito that's your favorite and you

00:04:41   get that pretty much every time and you

00:04:43   really don't take it home do you it's

00:04:45   more of like a lunchtime office takeout

00:04:47   food if you know you're with a group of

00:04:49   people or you want something quick or

00:04:51   you're driving somewhere and you need to

00:04:54   stop I we take we get Chipotle home

00:04:57   because we never leave the house but

00:04:59   other than that I really don't it's not

00:05:02   like our dinner to take out kind of

00:05:05   foods

00:05:05   exactly so burritos for me are fairly

00:05:08   low in lists only only because not

00:05:11   because I don't like them but only

00:05:11   because I just tend to get the same one

00:05:13   every time and and it's it never really

00:05:15   blows me what I've never had a burrito

00:05:17   with you maybe with the exception of

00:05:19   Baja Fresh yeah ten years ago but

00:05:21   otherwise I mean I never get like a

00:05:23   really great Brittan like from the

00:05:24   places in California where everyone says

00:05:26   California burritos are incredible and

00:05:27   they're pretty good well you got to find

00:05:28   the really good places yeah I'm all

00:05:31   places in the city that's true yeah like

00:05:34   you got to find the good halal cart you

00:05:35   can't just get any halal cart because

00:05:37   it's not the same right exactly

00:05:39   alright so anyway I also had a whole

00:05:41   bunch of stuff on here that we don't

00:05:42   need to really go over ahead like the

00:05:44   whole Boston Market category you had

00:05:46   that on there I don't even write it down

00:05:48   that well just it's an option for like

00:05:51   dinner takeout it's like you know a

00:05:52   place either Boston Market or places

00:05:54   like Boston Market where it's like

00:05:55   chicken and side dishes and stuff that

00:05:58   you can pack up and take home the I

00:06:00   didn't rank that highly enough I enjoyed

00:06:03   please like that sometimes but it's not

00:06:04   just not high enough I also I just write

00:06:07   a lot of people get like KFC yeah like

00:06:09   bucket the chicken to take home and eat

00:06:11   yeah we don't do that

00:06:13   no we're not really well that's I would

00:06:14   classify that as really fast food like I

00:06:16   think Fried Chicken it's fast food

00:06:18   roasted chicken with fatty side dishes

00:06:20   for some reason doesn't feel like fast

00:06:22   food yeah but people don't really take

00:06:23   home McDonald's but people will take

00:06:26   home a bucket of chicken cuz they

00:06:27   advertise it as like a family dinner

00:06:29   that doesn't mean yeah I think it's

00:06:32   often times one person even that bucket

00:06:33   just kind of said anyway I also put

00:06:36   burgers down kind of low on a list and

00:06:38   again similar reason to bar

00:06:40   I mean two burritos not because I don't

00:06:44   like burgers but because it's kind of

00:06:46   like a one-hit wonder you know like you

00:06:49   get a good burger somewhere and yeah you

00:06:50   can change up the toppings here there

00:06:51   but like the variety possible isn't that

00:06:53   wide and you never come away from it

00:06:56   saying like this is an amazing burger or

00:06:58   the best burger I've ever had it's

00:06:59   always like yeah this is pretty good

00:07:00   yeah it's never good places that are

00:07:03   specifically burger places like or if

00:07:06   they're a restaurant that happened to

00:07:07   specialize in burgers like we used to

00:07:08   have a restaurant in town that

00:07:10   specialized in burgers that we would get

00:07:12   takeout from but I think those are

00:07:15   different and a little bit higher class

00:07:17   status wise in the takeout food chain to

00:07:20   the fast food burger but yeah they don't

00:07:24   make the list for me either

00:07:25   yeah I think they try to be special but

00:07:27   they aren't always hmm well you got it

00:07:30   cooking a burger as we know from

00:07:32   watching Top Chef is actually kind of

00:07:34   hard to do because you have to get the

00:07:35   ratios right you have to get like the

00:07:37   flavors right you can't just kind of

00:07:39   slap anything on there and hope it's

00:07:40   good because it doesn't work exactly all

00:07:43   right so anyway moving up the list now

00:07:45   so let's see I had oh I want to I want

00:07:48   to mention the red menu Chinese places

00:07:52   it's not on my list not at all but it

00:07:56   used to be I guess because I grew up

00:07:58   with getting really good read menu

00:08:00   Chinese restaurant places on Saturday

00:08:02   nights with my family and then we'd

00:08:03   watch a movie so but that was a

00:08:05   particularly very very good place that

00:08:08   we went to and all of them since then

00:08:09   have just been like salt attacks yeah

00:08:13   those are those are also highly variable

00:08:15   in quality yeah but I would say like the

00:08:18   the ceiling of quality from those the

00:08:20   best they can possibly get isn't that

00:08:22   great like it's it's decent it's like

00:08:24   it's like a good burger place it's like

00:08:25   most great burger place is like the best

00:08:27   you can get from a good burger place

00:08:28   usually is decent pretty good you know

00:08:30   but it doesn't like blow your mind how

00:08:32   good it is and those type of places you

00:08:33   really can't even judge the place where

00:08:35   you go to get the takeout from because

00:08:37   it could be like the grossest looking

00:08:39   place and end up being good food oh yeah

00:08:41   remember that one in where did you live

00:08:46   Pittsburgh Pittsburgh

00:08:47   yeah where that it was like that dirty

00:08:49   little hole where that guy was just like

00:08:50   sweating over that huge guy really good

00:08:53   yeah it was so good yeah it was like and

00:08:56   you get out of there for like six bucks

00:08:57   and have no idea how it's even possible

00:08:58   to get the amount of food you got for

00:09:00   six bucks and it just but it's just one

00:09:02   guy in like the tiniest closet ever of a

00:09:05   room with no tables just like one guy

00:09:08   behind a counter with a giant wok and it

00:09:10   was good it was good yeah yeah so well

00:09:13   it wasn't that good it was really cheap

00:09:15   it wasn't it was remarkable for its

00:09:19   cuteness not as good as anyway yeah

00:09:20   maybe it wasn't that good yeah it was it

00:09:24   was yeah remarkable but not good I was

00:09:26   drugged so anyway I would say moving up

00:09:30   the list now into my top four my number

00:09:33   4 is Indian food oh that's your number 4

00:09:38   yeah Wow

00:09:39   yeah so it's it's not that it's my

00:09:42   fourth least favorite taste necessarily

00:09:46   it's it's about all overall factors and

00:09:49   and as I move up you'll probably figure

00:09:50   out why but for me it's so Indian food

00:09:53   first of all it is the best if you're

00:09:56   going for some kind of shared or buffet

00:09:59   situation where if you have a bunch of

00:10:01   people and and I know I know Indian food

00:10:04   in reality is a very very large category

00:10:06   I'm referring to like this stuff you get

00:10:08   at an American Indian restaurant like

00:10:10   it's you know it's gonna obviously be

00:10:12   I'm pretty sure British Indian

00:10:14   restaurants are the same but way better

00:10:16   from like the two I went to I can say

00:10:20   that's probably sounds about right but

00:10:21   they're the same they have all the same

00:10:23   dishes but they're just a lot better

00:10:25   yeah but there's like there's like

00:10:27   different like different regions of

00:10:28   India like northern Indians of the

00:10:29   versus oh that southern Indian food and

00:10:31   what we usually have is only one of them

00:10:33   and I forget which one unfortunately but

00:10:36   anyway so I'm talking about you know the

00:10:39   kind of like Indian food with the with

00:10:41   the thick sweet curries and you know

00:10:43   that use a lot of like the clarified

00:10:45   butter and cream curries and everything

00:10:47   that's that's the kind of things I'm

00:10:48   referring to that's what we usually end

00:10:50   up getting talking about what we usually

00:10:52   order because Indian food is on my list

00:10:54   but much higher than it is on yours okay

00:10:56   that's fair but I don't know I could I

00:10:59   could change cuz I panic in the middle

00:11:01   of list making once we start talking

00:11:03   about it but we just talked about when

00:11:05   we order Indian food we order what we

00:11:07   like

00:11:07   call the traffic light which is a red

00:11:10   yellow and green curry yes Chenoa

00:11:14   chicken tikka masala saag paneer and

00:11:16   malai kofta yeah and those are is the

00:11:18   trifecta of delicious oh definitely all

00:11:21   of them together

00:11:22   well no you don't mix them together be

00:11:25   like there on your each other on the

00:11:26   plate you know you scoop with the naan

00:11:28   oh it's so good yeah

00:11:30   my strategy for Indian food is rice or

00:11:34   naan pick only one yeah you can't do

00:11:36   both

00:11:37   yeah and you have a good mango lassi

00:11:39   with that really fills you up

00:11:40   super good I love when the places have

00:11:43   the rice with the peas in it right peas

00:11:46   in the rice they do it at some of them

00:11:48   yeah yeah that's really good or sliced

00:11:50   umm what do they put all that sliced

00:11:52   almonds on and yeah yeah a little raisin

00:11:55   sometimes I'm getting hungry yeah all

00:11:57   right so so I I love Indian food but one

00:12:02   thing about that that I think is

00:12:03   interesting is that at least for our

00:12:05   purposes it kind of has this feeling of

00:12:07   being like a special thing rather than

00:12:10   an everyday thing like you can get

00:12:12   something like pizza every day for like

00:12:14   you know three or four days straight and

00:12:17   kinda not think about it or or doesn't

00:12:19   seem that weird

00:12:20   whereas Indian food you feel it feels

00:12:23   like an extravagance for some reason and

00:12:25   and so it kind of feels like you can

00:12:27   only do it maybe once a week at most and

00:12:28   generally even less than that maybe once

00:12:30   every two or three weeks

00:12:31   yeah and it's better when company comes

00:12:33   over because like you said it's it's the

00:12:35   dishes come in like a large portion the

00:12:37   way we like to order and when people who

00:12:40   we normally don't eat Indian food with

00:12:42   come and they have their own favorite

00:12:44   dishes it's really great to try

00:12:45   everyone's favorite dish without having

00:12:47   to be committed to something that you

00:12:49   know you wouldn't necessarily you might

00:12:51   not end up liking but I mean everything

00:12:53   I've had Indian food wise I have liked

00:12:55   so that's not really a problem

00:12:57   you still want my lentils well that's

00:12:59   because there are lentils I mean they're

00:13:01   delicious anyway so that's that's why

00:13:06   Indian was number four for me it's that

00:13:08   it's like it is kind of restricted to

00:13:11   like special occasion status it's also

00:13:14   it's not incredibly hard to find good

00:13:17   Indian food but it's not that easy

00:13:19   either there are a lot of places in

00:13:21   good Indian food just simply isn't

00:13:23   available really every place I've lived

00:13:25   - that good Indian food

00:13:27   well maybe not Cortland you never lived

00:13:28   in the Midwest no I haven't except for

00:13:33   in college but that's not really that

00:13:34   far up I didn't even know Indian food

00:13:36   about Indian food when we were in

00:13:38   college right right so good thing

00:13:40   because we would have been really

00:13:41   miserable where we were anyway so that's

00:13:45   my number for at least we had 10 cent

00:13:46   wings my number four I have as Greek

00:13:49   food oh I forgot about Greek that's

00:13:52   interesting okay yeah I love good Greek

00:13:54   food I like this is gonna be so

00:13:57   embarrassed in a Greek restaurant when I

00:13:59   was in high school and early college or

00:14:02   maybe just early college can't remember

00:14:04   but I remember just early college early

00:14:05   college okay thanks you're the best for

00:14:08   multiple summers I worked at a Greek

00:14:10   restaurant and I am still embarrassed

00:14:12   about saying the word gyro

00:14:15   in a greekish way I don't know I just

00:14:19   feel silly

00:14:20   sorry saying gyro but I don't know it

00:14:22   sounds it I feel silly even though I

00:14:25   know that's really the right way to do

00:14:26   it

00:14:26   this is a debate there's there's

00:14:28   arguments on both sides of how it should

00:14:30   be said when two Americans are talking

00:14:32   to each other and other Americans about

00:14:33   it you should say zero it's kind of like

00:14:36   a combo of both so that way you offend

00:14:38   everybody yes well yeah I guess if

00:14:41   you're gonna be you can be an equal

00:14:42   opportunity offender you can offend

00:14:44   everybody equally that makes sense okay

00:14:46   so so Jiro what was that it what how do

00:14:49   you really say how do you just say my

00:14:52   fake way yeah zero okay so getting these

00:14:55   zero no they're so good I know I like

00:15:00   well you know actually an actual gyro

00:15:02   however we're gonna say it an actual

00:15:04   gyro I always like the idea of it better

00:15:08   than the actual practice of it I much

00:15:10   prefer a gyro salad to a gyro in a PITA

00:15:13   for two reasons first of all you know

00:15:15   pitas are delicious but they're also

00:15:17   giant and very filling and very calorie

00:15:20   dense and so I I'm kind of not that into

00:15:23   that and but the the permit the primary

00:15:25   reason why I prefer the salad first of

00:15:27   all the the sandwich version of it is

00:15:30   usually very very poorly mixed so you

00:15:32   have like one bite that's all

00:15:34   one ingredient she like one bite it's

00:15:36   all lettuce one bite it's all meat

00:15:38   because like they're just they're not

00:15:39   they're layered rather than blended and

00:15:41   then put in so it's it's not easy to get

00:15:44   a good blend of flavors and then

00:15:46   secondarily the salad is way cleaner to

00:15:50   eat which is usually the opposite but in

00:15:52   this case like eating a gyro sandwich

00:15:54   the whole thing like stuff is falling

00:15:56   out of it you're getting the the grease

00:15:58   from the meat and possibly the dressing

00:16:00   all over your back hand is holding up

00:16:02   the back of it like it just is creepy

00:16:05   it's not that greasy because all the

00:16:06   it's because it's it's cooked on a spit

00:16:08   so all the rips down off of it and then

00:16:11   they shave it so you're not left with

00:16:14   like a greasy pile of meat so maybe it

00:16:17   maybe maybe the stuff that coats the

00:16:18   back hand is just like you know tomato

00:16:19   water and it's all the water from the I

00:16:24   don't want to say the wrong one to Zeki

00:16:26   sauce yeah yeah yeah so so you get a

00:16:29   good Greek restaurant with a good 2zq

00:16:31   sauce cuz if you don't have a good

00:16:33   flavorful 2zq sauce that's it's over but

00:16:35   I mean come on there's so many great

00:16:37   things in Greek food and you totally

00:16:38   took my thunder and trying to describe

00:16:40   the whole salad thing because we order

00:16:43   gyro meat on top of a Greek salad which

00:16:46   is wonderful and also you can control

00:16:48   your portions with how much goes into

00:16:49   the pita like you can scoop and I also

00:16:51   like getting the Greek dressing and all

00:16:54   the other Greek all the other vegetables

00:16:56   that are in a Greek salad combined with

00:16:58   the gyre with the gyro me in like a

00:17:00   little tiny like bites of pita uh yeah

00:17:03   that's just great yeah it's so much

00:17:04   better than an actual taro sandwich but

00:17:07   I mean that's like the gateway drug to

00:17:09   Greek food right yeah totally

00:17:11   it's that baklava and spanakopita which

00:17:15   is the spinach pie I also maybe hummus

00:17:18   and stuff but

00:17:18   Oh Bahamas so and chickpea like you know

00:17:20   marinated chickpeas and things but

00:17:22   that's you know that's a lot now

00:17:23   everybody has something yeah everyone

00:17:24   has that kind of stuff and I've got

00:17:26   lemon Oh soup if you haven't tried this

00:17:28   you really should it's chicken lemon and

00:17:31   rice in its like an egg base maybe oh

00:17:36   I've never watched them make it at the

00:17:38   restaurant I went to that IO that I

00:17:40   worked at I mean it looks like there's

00:17:42   something there's something like foggy

00:17:44   that's not free well it could be the

00:17:45   rice that they cans it up maybe

00:17:47   anyway yeah it's delicious I was always

00:17:49   a skeptic you got it forever and I and I

00:17:51   didn't it's very lemony and very

00:17:52   delicious and now Marco loves it

00:17:54   yep you converted me on the algal amino

00:17:57   soup and there's also this wonderful

00:17:59   dessert that my brother really can't

00:18:01   pronounce ever and it's really kind of

00:18:03   fun to say

00:18:04   it's a Gattaca boutique oh oh it's like

00:18:07   a custard with phyllo dough kind of

00:18:09   fluffy flakiness to it with drizzled

00:18:12   with honey sauce that's also a really

00:18:13   good dessert yeah there's a lot a lot of

00:18:16   good things that Greek restaurants and a

00:18:18   lot of great unpronounceable things it's

00:18:20   all delicious and a lot of it's very

00:18:23   vegetable and meat you like you don't

00:18:26   have to do a lot of car B starches and

00:18:28   the cheese is only you know some crumbly

00:18:30   feta here and there so it's not so true

00:18:32   yeah if you're eight here's Ryan I go

00:18:34   like paleo and stuff I you'd probably

00:18:36   have an easier time there than many of

00:18:38   these types of places oh yeah you

00:18:39   definitely would and the yogurts just

00:18:41   you know the your the sauces is a it's a

00:18:43   mild yogurt so right and you know that

00:18:46   dairy heavy and you could always leave

00:18:48   that sauce off you know you don't have

00:18:50   to go you don't have to coder on Greek

00:18:52   dressing to is vinegar it's oil and

00:18:54   vinegar base so yeah it's great and

00:18:57   Greek is easy to take out it's easy to

00:19:00   have at home if you're gonna transport

00:19:02   take it out take it out a lot of places

00:19:06   have Greek takeout right don't they

00:19:07   isn't it like a thing I have my there's

00:19:10   like a Greek restaurant thing at other

00:19:13   places I don't know

00:19:15   I have diners but those don't count do

00:19:17   not count Greek diners as Greek food no

00:19:20   there and greet diners are a respectable

00:19:22   food choice in many conditions but it's

00:19:24   not the same thing as a proper Greek

00:19:25   restaurant or Greek takeout place

00:19:27   yes yeah alright so moving on what's

00:19:31   your oh do you want to do your number

00:19:32   three my number three on how you want to

00:19:33   do this okay so we both did our number

00:19:35   four so my number three is Thai food

00:19:38   interesting but I might be able to I we

00:19:42   haven't had tired a lot recently and now

00:19:44   because we are trying to do less carbs

00:19:47   and stuff that's why I think it moved

00:19:49   down my list from Indians my number two

00:19:51   right now and so I I moved Thai even

00:19:55   though I prefer the flavors and things

00:19:57   in Thai food so like it's a lot of times

00:20:00   it's our date night we

00:20:01   we get time especially we go to a good

00:20:03   Thai place that's a little bit further

00:20:05   than we would like it to be it's like a

00:20:07   half hour away it's a little bit further

00:20:08   than we would like it to be it's totally

00:20:11   worth the drive because they're at we've

00:20:12   looked and as far as we have been able

00:20:14   to find there is not a better one closer

00:20:17   than that but bad Thai is real bad so

00:20:20   here actually is really good

00:20:22   I have Thai as my number two see I

00:20:24   thought you would yeah so but that's

00:20:27   that's what I'm explaining why it didn't

00:20:28   make my number two is because right now

00:20:30   I'm hesitant about it because of how

00:20:32   carbee it is and I'm trying to do a lot

00:20:37   less carbs and sugar and dairy and all

00:20:39   that stuff

00:20:40   I mean staying within let the general

00:20:42   very broad category of Asian cuisine

00:20:45   it's pretty good to minimize dairy and

00:20:48   so then then the issue becomes carbs and

00:20:50   you know hands and sugar stuff and salt

00:20:52   and how you want to do those things but

00:20:53   I would say I mean the things we usually

00:20:56   get from Thai restaurants are usually

00:20:59   have rice or noodles

00:21:01   what they have many other options that

00:21:03   don't so you have options there anyway

00:21:05   but I agree with what you said a minute

00:21:06   ago which is one of the issues Thai

00:21:08   faces which is it's incredibly variable

00:21:11   in quality between between places you

00:21:13   know like certain kinds of things like

00:21:16   you know like burritos I mentioned

00:21:18   earlier like the range that you that you

00:21:20   generally find in the world of bad or

00:21:23   mediocre burritos - great burritos in my

00:21:26   opinion that range is fairly compressed

00:21:28   relative to other types you know it's

00:21:29   not it's not that huge of a range with

00:21:33   Thai food I think the range is very big

00:21:35   and the good thing is bad Thai food

00:21:37   doesn't taste bad it usually is bland

00:21:40   yeah I also don't like when Thai food

00:21:42   when they get too nutty when they start

00:21:44   throwing lots of nuts all over the place

00:21:45   oh no it's well if they're cashews

00:21:47   that's or peanuts that's perfectly

00:21:48   cashews are fine I don't like when they

00:21:50   throw the peanuts around i I don't well

00:21:52   I don't order pad thai I don't like red

00:21:55   Thai most people when they think Thai

00:21:57   food think pad thai that isn't all that

00:21:59   that's out there I'm a Tom Kha gai soup

00:22:02   person it's like a lime unlike all these

00:22:06   soups yeah it's like a lime coconut e

00:22:10   chicken soup that's delicious and I'm

00:22:14   also a

00:22:15   you had chemo noodles yeah pad chemo but

00:22:18   that's also different everywhere like

00:22:20   they used for noodles I like the really

00:22:22   wide almost translucent goopy noodles I

00:22:25   don't know what they are I'm really

00:22:27   sorry

00:22:27   that's offensive I'm so sorry I really

00:22:30   think it's delicious I just don't know

00:22:31   what they're called yeah we

00:22:33   unfortunately are extremely uneducated

00:22:34   in most of these non American food and

00:22:38   we also like a basil fried rice and we

00:22:40   like pineapple fried rice and and all

00:22:43   the curries that they have there which

00:22:44   are very different than Indian curries

00:22:46   for anybody who doesn't get these type

00:22:48   of takeout foods and you are interested

00:22:50   in trying if you try one it does not

00:22:53   taste anything like the other so if you

00:22:55   don't like one at that you know try the

00:22:57   other anyway because they're gonna be

00:22:58   completely different right like if you

00:23:00   don't like Indian curry or if you don't

00:23:02   like curry powder then you know that

00:23:05   doesn't mean you won't like Thai curry

00:23:06   like these are all all three of those

00:23:08   things are very different yes you know

00:23:11   like chicken coated and curry powder has

00:23:13   a very different flavor from Indian

00:23:14   curry which has varied in flavor flavor

00:23:16   and texture from Thai curry so yeah very

00:23:18   different foods they could share one

00:23:20   word so if we inspire anybody to go out

00:23:22   and try new foods that you haven't tried

00:23:24   before

00:23:25   go forth and try yes boldly yes but I

00:23:29   would say for me Thai food I would say

00:23:34   that the when it's good that it is the

00:23:38   best for me it is my number one for for

00:23:40   taste when it is good Thai food that's

00:23:43   true a good crunchy spring roll or a

00:23:45   good curry

00:23:46   fantastic red curry I mean come on oh

00:23:48   yes red curry you're convincing me and

00:23:53   fried rice hi iced tea I like a fast

00:23:56   food with its own drink as well that

00:23:58   really sells me because Indian food has

00:24:00   a delicious mango lassi and Thai food

00:24:03   has a Thai iced tea Thai iced teas are

00:24:05   one of those things that you try it the

00:24:07   first time because you're like oh this

00:24:08   is interesting what is this Thai I see

00:24:10   you try it and you're like I don't think

00:24:14   I don't like it I'm not weird sure if I

00:24:18   I don't know if I like this and then you

00:24:20   take another sip of it you're like I'm

00:24:22   still not sure I like this and then you

00:24:23   finish the whole thing and you're still

00:24:25   not quite sure you you like it and then

00:24:27   the next time you can

00:24:29   not order another one and you're like oh

00:24:31   this is my favorite drink like it just

00:24:33   that's everyone that I've talked to you

00:24:35   has had that transition when it comes to

00:24:37   Thai iced tea because it's so delicious

00:24:39   after you've had it like a full one and

00:24:43   decided it was delicious

00:24:45   I've never met anyone that took one sip

00:24:47   of Thai iced tea and was like this is

00:24:49   amazing it was like I'm not sure I like

00:24:51   this I've also never had anybody take

00:24:53   one sip and say I hate this and I don't

00:24:55   want any others and like I don't want

00:24:56   any more you know you just it you take a

00:24:58   little thing you're like after a while

00:25:00   the aftertaste makes you want to drink

00:25:01   more sounds like it's there pretty

00:25:04   strong in in dairy and sugar so you know

00:25:08   you can put a lot of dairy and sugar and

00:25:10   pretty much any flavor and most people

00:25:12   will like that flavor

00:25:13   okay I'm going back diet restrictions

00:25:15   aside I'm moving Thai up to my number to

00:25:18   an Indian down all right so you have

00:25:21   some coherence now yeah ooh I might even

00:25:23   you know float up to number one cuz I do

00:25:26   like I do like a takeout with a drink

00:25:28   see but but might what's keeping it from

00:25:30   number one for me is what I said earlier

00:25:31   that you know the the quality range is

00:25:34   huge well and you can't have it all the

00:25:36   time and exactly so I have that here too

00:25:38   it's the same thing I said it about

00:25:39   Indian food which is like it doesn't

00:25:41   feel right for some reason to have Thai

00:25:44   food every day even though yeah that's

00:25:46   my theme is in the richness of it it I

00:25:48   know but I don't think there's any

00:25:50   logical basis for that that's just how I

00:25:51   feel like it just seems like Thai and

00:25:53   Indian are like these special things for

00:25:55   some reason and that is that makes no

00:25:58   sense like logical it makes no sense

00:25:59   there's no reason why those should be

00:26:01   special occasion of foods and something

00:26:03   like pizza shouldn't be there there's no

00:26:05   reason for that but for some reason

00:26:06   that's how it feels

00:26:07   well if we had like a good agent fusion

00:26:09   kind of place around I would eat like a

00:26:11   variety of different Asian cuisines like

00:26:13   every day if I you know I could I'd not

00:26:17   sushi though sorry all you sushi people

00:26:19   and yes we have had good sushi everyone

00:26:22   says well you haven't had good sushi so

00:26:24   that's why you don't like sushi I like

00:26:26   fish I am a seafood eater and I do not

00:26:28   care for sushi there's just a flavor in

00:26:31   it that I just don't care for it's just

00:26:33   not it's not my thing but almost every

00:26:36   other Asian cuisine I think we are are

00:26:39   pretty into yeah we're into many of them

00:26:41   but yeah we neither of us like sushi so

00:26:43   sorry sushi people we yeah really say

00:26:45   anything more about it cuz I'm sorry

00:26:46   yeah Japanese and sushi in general I I

00:26:50   have a tough time with unless I do like

00:26:52   ramen now yeah is ramen classified as

00:26:55   Japanese cuisine neither of us know

00:26:58   anything about Japanese cuisine however

00:27:00   I'm pretty sure it is it is well I like

00:27:02   a very specific type of ramen and it's

00:27:04   delicious

00:27:04   and you asked for half the ingredients

00:27:06   to be removed yeah and some other ones

00:27:08   Oden I like the bok choy yeah I don't

00:27:11   like the fish cake fair enough okay

00:27:13   and so my number 3 which I skipped over

00:27:18   because we because of our order here my

00:27:20   number 3 is pizza

00:27:21   oh no I'm curious what your number 1 is

00:27:24   so don't throw in a creepy lunch food

00:27:27   you are the means I know I see your

00:27:30   smile I see your smirk I keep I can veto

00:27:33   ahh I honestly don't know you mean but

00:27:35   anyway number it so number 4 is Indian

00:27:37   number 3 is pizza number 2 is Thai so

00:27:39   why is Pizza number 3 for me it with a

00:27:45   good thing about pizza is that it does

00:27:47   feel acceptable to have you know

00:27:49   multiple times a week and and so it's it

00:27:52   feels acceptable of you to have multiple

00:27:54   times yeah I have pizza guilt when we

00:27:56   accidentally don't remember to cook or

00:27:58   make meals or anything we have to go get

00:28:00   pizza it's fine I feel so guilty

00:28:03   there's so and pizza also there's

00:28:06   there's a lot of variety at a pizza

00:28:09   place

00:28:09   but within a like a pizza place usually

00:28:12   has a relatively small number of forms

00:28:16   that this that the stuff can take that

00:28:18   you get but what is in or on those

00:28:21   things can be highly variable so it's

00:28:23   like first we need to say we are very

00:28:25   lucky where we live because we are

00:28:27   surrounded by amazing amazing pizza and

00:28:29   even our worst pizza is better than most

00:28:31   people's best pizza that is true so we

00:28:35   have exceptional pizza in our area that

00:28:37   it can make our list as high as it is

00:28:40   because I believe my pizza I have right

00:28:42   now at number one even though I totally

00:28:45   always feel guilty about eating it but

00:28:48   we need to talk about something about

00:28:51   pizza it's not just Italian food we're

00:28:53   talking about pizza right

00:28:55   because there's also calzone restaurants

00:28:58   around here that like are they also sell

00:29:00   pizza but there are places that are way

00:29:02   better at calzones which are very

00:29:04   different that's like a separate thing

00:29:06   like like like I know the food like

00:29:08   there are separate calzone restaurants

00:29:10   well the calzone places will often sell

00:29:13   pizza also but there are placed pizza

00:29:15   places that are better at calzone than

00:29:17   they are a pizza okay I guess that makes

00:29:19   I feel like you don't go to the same

00:29:21   pizza place if you want a calzone or if

00:29:23   you that you is you know the same place

00:29:25   that you want I'm saying that's wrong

00:29:28   you don't go to the same place where you

00:29:31   get your best pizza and your best

00:29:33   calzone they're usually two different

00:29:34   places that's interesting okay does

00:29:38   anybody ever actually want a calzone oh

00:29:40   yeah when you find a good place you

00:29:42   really want a calzone and we had it yeah

00:29:45   remember I brought you the satellite

00:29:46   Pizza Island yeah I don't know to me

00:29:49   like I always they made a damn good

00:29:50   calzone it was amazing

00:29:52   a seat to me I think it's easier to make

00:29:55   a good calzone than to make a good pizza

00:29:57   no no no because you got to get the

00:29:59   ratio right inside you have to get the

00:30:01   fluffiness level you can't have the

00:30:02   dough too thick you have to have a

00:30:04   really good marinara to like pour on the

00:30:06   top and you it just has to have the

00:30:09   right ratio of I'm gonna say this weird

00:30:12   deal with it the mozzarella - the

00:30:15   ricotta it has to be a good ratio inside

00:30:19   with the filling and it has to be like

00:30:21   salted the right way it can't be like a

00:30:23   shredded cheese that there that's put in

00:30:26   there you can't cheap out like there's a

00:30:27   lot and and it can't be burnt you know

00:30:30   and it has to be a little bit bubbly

00:30:31   it's amazing and the good calzone places

00:30:34   always have the best that police okay

00:30:37   cuz that sort of thing that's it's well

00:30:40   because they use the same dough it's the

00:30:42   same dog that wraps the filling of the

00:30:44   cow like that wraps the calzones as it

00:30:46   is to make the zeppoles does that please

00:30:47   just don't have any filling and they're

00:30:49   coated in powdered sugar coz I mean

00:30:51   every culture has their fried dough

00:30:53   of course yeah you got you got to have

00:30:55   your fried dough so I wanted to classify

00:30:57   want to clarify that that the calzone

00:30:58   place is separate than the pizza place

00:31:01   now for pizza places I also wanted to

00:31:03   talk about this is serious I know this

00:31:05   is I mean come on Long Island New York

00:31:08   area that we're all about the pizza so I

00:31:11   need to talk about the garlic knot

00:31:13   conundrum

00:31:13   hmm now garlic knots with your pizza or

00:31:17   not because not or not because yeah

00:31:22   because some places you know it's just

00:31:26   like balls of dough they don't do a good

00:31:27   garlic knot but other places do a great

00:31:29   garlic knot but you're already getting

00:31:31   so much bread and stuff with your pizza

00:31:32   so what do you do it is that is a

00:31:35   difficult choice and it just it depends

00:31:37   highly on whether your pizza place of

00:31:38   choice makes good garlic knots and in my

00:31:40   experience most places don't we had a

00:31:43   place that put garlic knots on the crust

00:31:45   that is insane yeah it was like four or

00:31:50   three and a half garlic knots per slice

00:31:52   of pizza see now I come from the land of

00:31:55   the Midwest which is the land of putting

00:31:58   crazy stuff in and under and between

00:32:01   pizza because the pizza itself is

00:32:04   usually pretty mediocre

00:32:06   so the idea is you get you know the

00:32:08   stuffed crust where you get like you

00:32:10   know the the I don't know put wings in

00:32:12   the crust god knows what they're crust

00:32:16   it's just an addition so you can get a

00:32:17   whole pie and you get garlic knots that

00:32:20   surround the pie so you don't have to

00:32:21   order both it's not it was a thing it

00:32:27   happened when I was in high school it

00:32:29   was a strange time my favorite as an

00:32:31   aside here my favorite thing is when you

00:32:33   see like a pizza ad for a place like

00:32:35   Pizza Hut or whatever we want to do we

00:32:37   are not talking about Pizza Hut no I'm

00:32:40   just saying for the people out there I'm

00:32:42   sorry if Pizza Hut and Domino's and

00:32:45   stuff for the only or Sbarro is the only

00:32:46   thing you have to associate with your

00:32:48   takeout pizza this is not what we are

00:32:51   talking about it is a completely

00:32:52   different food yeah and I cannot wait

00:32:54   for all of you who have never

00:32:55   experienced New York Pizza to come to

00:32:57   New York and experience it because it is

00:32:59   amazing yeah yeah but yeah anyway I love

00:33:04   when the when you see like these

00:33:05   commercials for these big pizza chains

00:33:07   and they would say you know you get like

00:33:09   the the two pies with toppings and then

00:33:11   they say make it a meal by adding wings

00:33:15   it's not already a man like breadsticks

00:33:17   and two liters of soda that's currently

00:33:21   it's like that

00:33:22   that makes it a meal like oh now it's

00:33:24   before I thought it was a snack right

00:33:27   yeah I guess the pizza is the side dish

00:33:32   anyway people are people are not always

00:33:34   healthy but anyway so yeah for me pizza

00:33:38   is pizza is the default for dinner not

00:33:41   necessarily for lunch but it's a it's

00:33:42   the default for dinner which is if you

00:33:44   can't figure out what else to get just

00:33:46   get pizza see I'll always like a slice

00:33:48   of pizza

00:33:49   I'll always eat a slice of pizza if

00:33:51   someone says we're having pizza we could

00:33:53   all agree on pizza pretty much because

00:33:56   it's so it's so easy and good to find

00:33:59   something you love on it and it's

00:34:00   usually extremely tasty like I've never

00:34:03   had I think that that's why I would say

00:34:05   it's my number one because I feel like

00:34:06   most places that we go we can find a

00:34:09   really good pizza

00:34:10   we even fell in love with pizza and

00:34:12   Pittsburgh yeah I found the right place

00:34:14   oh good as long as you go to a place

00:34:17   that is actually making their pizza and

00:34:19   cares a little bit about it even outside

00:34:21   of the New York metro area you can find

00:34:23   really good pizza yeah yeah like good

00:34:26   pizza is not only in New York it's just

00:34:29   more common in New York right well I

00:34:31   think like major cities will often have

00:34:33   like a couple different competitive

00:34:35   pizza places that you can find yourself

00:34:38   a good pie or a good slice yeah

00:34:40   gotta go to Aiello's if you're in

00:34:41   Pittsburgh anyway so so that was your

00:34:44   number one right it was you got to get

00:34:46   the good pizza otherwise there's a hot

00:34:47   ring of garbage I think it's a circle of

00:34:52   anyway so yeah it is hot circle of

00:34:54   garbage yeah it's like eating a hot

00:34:56   circle of garbage my number so if if we

00:35:00   were restricting it to only dinner okay

00:35:02   then pizza might might be my number one

00:35:04   for all those reasons

00:35:06   wait so okay ready give me your dinner

00:35:08   list dinner would be maybe burgers you

00:35:12   forgot about Greek originally so you can

00:35:14   add that back in I think read better for

00:35:16   lunch okay so okay my generalist my

00:35:19   dinner menu would be I think just off

00:35:22   the top my head

00:35:22   unprepared now I think you I think it

00:35:24   would be I just took away one thing you

00:35:26   just got to move some stuff up the list

00:35:27   and then yes well so I think it would be

00:35:30   burgers Indian Thai pizza so with pizza

00:35:35   number one so that's

00:35:36   okay now my dinner list no you're not in

00:35:40   my overall list huh melding lunch and

00:35:42   dinner together into one category what I

00:35:44   thought we were doing I changed it up on

00:35:46   you number four Indian number three

00:35:48   Pizza number two Thai

00:35:50   number one the lunch deli slash sandwich

00:35:54   place I mean yeah I if we were doing

00:35:57   lunch I think lunch is different than

00:35:59   dinner you have to have a separate lunch

00:36:01   and it I don't care what I said before

00:36:03   you have to have it because otherwise is

00:36:05   it a whole different discussion I have

00:36:07   whole different things to add to this

00:36:09   list I don't want any of these things

00:36:10   for lunch

00:36:11   I wanted a totally different list for

00:36:13   lunch many of like I think like Indian

00:36:15   and Thai well Indians a little heavy I

00:36:16   mean you can do it but you got to be

00:36:18   careful no Indiana's feels more dinner

00:36:20   but I often find ty Franck

00:36:23   but Panera needs to be thrown in there

00:36:26   maybe right so cuz they're like a suit

00:36:28   or I shouldn't say Panera but I should

00:36:29   say like soup sandwich places which is

00:36:31   different than the deli well so I have

00:36:33   this kind of as one category because

00:36:35   there's a lot of overlap so maybe this

00:36:37   is my number one this is this is the

00:36:38   lunch deli slash sandwich place now I

00:36:40   have to clarify similar to our pizza

00:36:43   disclaimer there are certain places that

00:36:45   I am explicitly not including that

00:36:47   includes subway and Quiznos and anything

00:36:50   like subway or Quiznos those places

00:36:53   they're just terrible

00:36:55   I mean I've it's not that I've never had

00:36:56   them I've had them plenty of times

00:36:58   because I haven't always lived in a

00:36:59   place with good sandwiches I've had I've

00:37:01   had subway and Quiznos frequently or

00:37:03   often mmm a lot and you're talking about

00:37:08   the East Coast deli yeah yes because

00:37:10   they have them up in Boston Kelly from

00:37:13   the deli they even had some in

00:37:14   Pittsburgh like they were either pretty

00:37:15   easy to find in Pittsburgh I started

00:37:16   going one every day yeah so you can find

00:37:18   them yeah they do exist the deli that

00:37:21   just you know the kind of place that

00:37:22   makes sandwiches and whatever sandwich

00:37:25   you want oftentimes but not always the

00:37:27   bagel place because because or some kind

00:37:29   of bakery because they will often put

00:37:30   these sandwiches on the bread or bagels

00:37:33   that they're baking I do include Panera

00:37:35   and bruger's and in this category okay

00:37:37   they aren't necessarily the best

00:37:39   examples but that's you can find that

00:37:42   did yeah yeah I would exclude Einstein

00:37:45   bagels because I have every time I've

00:37:47   been to one I've been disappointed by it

00:37:48   all right

00:37:50   yeah you you and your New York stuff

00:37:52   it's all awesome but I would say Panera

00:37:54   and bruger's are in Einstein subway and

00:37:57   Quiznos are out but generally you're

00:37:59   looking for a place it isn't the chain

00:38:00   now usually the non chain places are

00:38:02   substantially different and better but

00:38:04   there is still a lot of the road also

00:38:05   because when they cut the deli meat they

00:38:07   actually have a deli slicer in the place

00:38:09   and they exactly slice it from the meat

00:38:11   log instead of having it you know pre

00:38:15   sliced slimy slimy slabs better bit more

00:38:18   shit yeah like you get you go to Subway

00:38:21   you got like exactly the four slices

00:38:22   they're always so thick if you really

00:38:24   want a good deli sandwich you have to

00:38:26   get it like so thin that it's

00:38:27   practically like falling apart like it's

00:38:29   confetti it's meat confetti and it's so

00:38:32   good yeah and let's let's not even talk

00:38:35   about the subway cheese tessellation

00:38:37   ripoff ah I know total complete bytes

00:38:40   without cheese because no subway is an

00:38:43   expert in giving you as little as

00:38:45   possible for your money and making it

00:38:46   like I'm convinced that most people who

00:38:48   assemble deli sandwiches for a living

00:38:51   including all these chain places but

00:38:52   even a lot of actual like you know

00:38:54   defend delis it seems like most of the

00:38:56   people who assemble these sandwiches

00:38:57   don't eat deli sandwiches

00:38:59   yeah the sandwiches are assembled by the

00:39:01   people that eat deli sandwiches right

00:39:03   like it's similar to how like like we

00:39:05   have to go to this place in Manhattan

00:39:06   called called chicken deli on 28th

00:39:10   Street yeah 28 chicken goat and and we

00:39:13   always knew it was a fantastic deli in

00:39:15   almost every regard but we always knew

00:39:18   don't get mustard on the sandwich

00:39:20   because the people who who would

00:39:22   construct the sandwich every day you can

00:39:24   just tell that they didn't eat mustard

00:39:25   themselves because they would apply an

00:39:27   amount of mustard that like in fact if

00:39:30   that were mayonnaise it would be

00:39:31   excessive and for mustard it's like oh

00:39:34   my god it's like overpowering craziness

00:39:37   so you usually like you know just if you

00:39:39   get a mustard sandwich just ask from the

00:39:40   side and you apply it yourself when you

00:39:42   get back to the office so okay there are

00:39:44   things like that you got to learn every

00:39:45   place you go right exactly exactly so

00:39:48   and everything else about that deli was

00:39:50   great except for the mustard and so you

00:39:53   know when it comes to these places it

00:39:55   just seems like many of them they'll do

00:39:57   things like you mentioned like they'll

00:39:58   slice the meat too thick or rather than

00:40:01   laying it laying each piece of

00:40:03   like a half fold over so you get the

00:40:05   kind of like alternating half fold like

00:40:07   stack that looks all pretty and has like

00:40:09   the little ruffles in the side that's

00:40:11   the good way to do it sometimes they

00:40:12   will do it they'll just like lay that

00:40:14   lay the slices flat in a stack oh and

00:40:17   then fold them over oh it's oh yeah see

00:40:20   this is the kind of thing like if you go

00:40:22   to a place like bruger's or Panera or

00:40:23   you know any deli getting the right

00:40:25   employee matters law but anyway that

00:40:27   said I I would say that the the

00:40:31   variability with with minor things like

00:40:33   that aside the variability that you get

00:40:34   between delis is actually not that big

00:40:37   compared to these other options so you

00:40:39   can generally find a decent deli or

00:40:42   sandwich place in most places and you

00:40:44   can get them to construct a sandwich

00:40:46   that you're used to so you're not really

00:40:48   reliant on a menu per se like if you

00:40:50   like let's say you know you like pepper

00:40:54   Turkey with pepper jack cheese on a

00:40:55   croissant mmm this is one of us like

00:40:57   that I don't know one of us might like

00:40:59   that but if you like that you could

00:41:01   probably get something similar to that

00:41:03   at most any deli the same thing if you

00:41:06   like it she can call it sandwich with

00:41:07   certain toppings on it you know you can

00:41:09   get that recreated for the most part at

00:41:13   various different places and it won't be

00:41:15   so different that you know you won't

00:41:17   like it right and and delis also they

00:41:19   have the great advantage that they they

00:41:22   also don't feel weird getting them every

00:41:24   day like you can go to it you can go to

00:41:26   the same deli for lunch every day I've

00:41:28   done this Melton most of my adult career

00:41:29   you can go to the same deli every day

00:41:31   and it's not that ridiculous

00:41:34   and no it's great because they know your

00:41:36   order and there's always regulars

00:41:37   everyone goes to the same daily everyday

00:41:39   exactly and and you know and compare you

00:41:42   know you could also and we've done this

00:41:44   in at various bands as well you could

00:41:46   also just go to the grocery store and

00:41:48   buy deli meat and buy bread and make

00:41:50   your own sandwiches at home and and

00:41:52   there are a lot of advantages to that

00:41:53   but when you go to a deli it's fresh

00:41:56   sliced every day for you it's at least

00:41:59   any reasonable deli not Subway but hey

00:42:01   do not walk out of a deli if you see a

00:42:04   whole bunch of pre sliced deli meat

00:42:06   sitting in their shelf like if you see

00:42:08   that sitting around just leave and go

00:42:10   find a different deli or if the deli

00:42:12   smells like fish yes really feeling like

00:42:15   anything

00:42:16   cow it shouldn't smell like it should at

00:42:17   most smell like a fresh-baked bagel well

00:42:19   that's what I always tell you at seafood

00:42:21   restaurants if you walk into a seafood

00:42:22   restaurant and it smells like fish

00:42:24   you walk out yeah like good rule it

00:42:26   should never ever ever smell like fish

00:42:28   cuz fresh fish does not smell bad yeah

00:42:31   so anyway so yeah a deli is in my

00:42:36   opinion just overall the best takeout

00:42:38   food but you can't get it for dinner

00:42:40   that there's not an open past like two

00:42:42   o'clock yeah that's that's the big

00:42:44   problem is that they it is a lunch only

00:42:46   option breakfast they do eggs that's

00:42:48   true they did they do serve every daily

00:42:50   is open early yeah but and there's also

00:42:53   like you know compared to buying stuff

00:42:54   at home there's a lot of specialty

00:42:57   things that a deli will have that you

00:42:59   either can't easily keep on hand at home

00:43:02   or that you probably wouldn't keep on

00:43:04   hand at home so things like really weird

00:43:06   cheese's like we probably wouldn't buy

00:43:08   an entire package of pepperjack

00:43:10   but we're okay getting a slice of pepper

00:43:12   jack on your sandwich every day okay now

00:43:14   we got a distinct we got to make a

00:43:16   distinction here because we happen to go

00:43:18   to a great deli that is also very good

00:43:20   at making bagels so they're not only a

00:43:22   bagel shop they're also a full deli

00:43:24   there are a lot of those around here

00:43:26   because they're pretty conducive to each

00:43:28   other because a lot of people like to

00:43:30   have their bagel for breakfast or have

00:43:31   lunch food on a bagel like right right

00:43:35   you have that option or you have the

00:43:37   deli that just has like stacks of rolls

00:43:39   that they put everything on and then

00:43:41   they import their bagels from somewhere

00:43:42   else where and that's that's fair you

00:43:44   know warm bagel sandwich like when the

00:43:48   bagels are fresh-baked I mean there's

00:43:50   nothing like it it's amazing

00:43:51   oh yeah and that's that's pretty hard to

00:43:53   get usually because the bagels are not

00:43:54   fresh-baked near lunchtime but you know

00:43:56   you can find it if you're lucky but yes

00:43:59   so anyway that's what that's why number

00:44:00   one is the lunch Dolly's sandwich place

00:44:02   which is often a bagel place

00:44:04   but that doesn't count for our take out

00:44:06   in substitution for pre Thanksgiving

00:44:10   dinner food right so for dinners it's

00:44:12   Thai all right Thai food the highs are

00:44:15   the highest you know like when when Thai

00:44:18   food is is great it is my favorite

00:44:21   flavor and which one is the lows of the

00:44:23   lowest I think maybe pizza mmm

00:44:27   bad pizza is really bad like like a hot

00:44:31   cement carpet like bad Thai Indian food

00:44:34   is usually just bland yeah but still

00:44:37   that's terrible

00:44:38   like bad pizza is like uh nap it's like

00:44:41   greasy or you know I don't know bad

00:44:44   pizza can be really quite unappetizing I

00:44:46   think but I mean I guess so could a bad

00:44:48   deli sandwich like I said like a Subway

00:44:50   sandwich is uh hey are good deli when

00:44:54   they slice my meat stick it is not

00:44:56   appetizing yeah well that's that's why

00:44:58   you got to get chicken so it's like

00:44:59   biting into a bouncy ball that's yes

00:45:03   this is one of the reasons I get chicken

00:45:04   salad but even chicken salad can be

00:45:06   really bad right but I know at this

00:45:08   place it's consistently always gonna be

00:45:09   man easy right no I mean that's the I'm

00:45:12   a chicken salads not pickin because like

00:45:14   you know you with deli meat you're

00:45:16   generally seeing the same meat you know

00:45:18   most places will have Boar's Head around

00:45:20   here like you know like you're generally

00:45:22   having the same meats available in most

00:45:23   delis but stuff like chicken salad can

00:45:26   vary because they usually make it there

00:45:28   or at least they buy it in but they're

00:45:30   buying it from different layers I'm

00:45:30   really bad chicken cutlet sandwich to is

00:45:32   really bad

00:45:33   yeah like when the meat sauce in Yui and

00:45:35   disgusting yeah that's true and they

00:45:36   they make it too thick like the chicken

00:45:38   go laters take this like fry a chicken

00:45:40   breast you're like no you need to slice

00:45:42   that thin and pound it and then bread it

00:45:45   like there's a lot to do it's a lot of

00:45:47   work stick some bread on a chicken and

00:45:49   call it a chicken cutlet I mean what do

00:45:52   you oh my god all right are we done did

00:45:57   we go through both of our lists yeah I

00:45:59   have starting at number one pizza Thai

00:46:02   Indian Greek cool yep so happy ordering

00:46:08   everybody for pre Thanksgiving and Happy

00:46:12   Thanksgiving

00:46:14   traveling yeah yeah don't look at me

00:46:20   like that you offer up any kind of

00:46:24   clothing help here that's that no I just

00:46:27   let you go it's way better to just have

00:46:29   you awkwardly do the entire outro

00:46:31   yourself it's just so painful it's the

00:46:34   best I don't know why you do this to me
