Top Four

Top Four 36: Misheard Eddie Vedder Lyrics

00:00:00   hi everybody welcome back to top 4 we

00:00:02   have a special episode well well yeah

00:00:06   it's our normal fodder work it's a

00:00:11   little bit different format this month

00:00:12   because we weren't quite sure how to do

00:00:15   this but it's something that we've been

00:00:16   wanting to do for a while so we're gonna

00:00:18   just see how it goes and then maybe fix

00:00:20   a lot of problems in editing yeah don't

00:00:22   don't talk about editing so no one wants

00:00:24   to hear that

00:00:25   alright I'm gonna start it yeah hi

00:00:28   everybody welcome to a totally normal

00:00:30   episode of where nothing is different or

00:00:33   wrong so anyway what we wanted to do for

00:00:40   a while is some bringing something about

00:00:45   the incredible unintelligibility of

00:00:49   Eddie Vedder's lyrics Eddie Vedder lead

00:00:51   singer of Pearl Jam although he's also

00:00:53   done some solo work but I think he's

00:00:54   mostly known for his Pearl Jam work you

00:00:56   may have heard him from such songs as

00:00:59   and then also the great hit did yep

00:01:05   pretty much everybody knows how his

00:01:07   songs sound but it's really hard to know

00:01:10   what he's actually saying in a lot of

00:01:12   them and I don't know the I mean I think

00:01:15   a lot of this is just a style that was

00:01:17   born of the early 90s growing movement

00:01:20   but it was who he he he is definitely

00:01:23   the master of just making sounds with

00:01:27   his voice that sound good because like

00:01:29   we love his music it sounds good but if

00:01:32   you try to actually listen to what he's

00:01:34   saying it's really hard it's our new

00:01:37   favorite game in the car yeah whenever

00:01:40   we put on a mix of like 90s music from

00:01:43   whatever radio station the car picks for

00:01:45   us because we are led by robots and

00:01:48   whenever an Eddie Vedder song just pops

00:01:50   up it is our favorite thing to do to try

00:01:53   and figure out what exactly he's saying

00:01:56   in his songs so we wanted to bring that

00:01:58   joy to our audience and try and rank the

00:02:02   top four most unintelligible Eddie

00:02:05   Vedder songs yeah and this is

00:02:07   surprisingly hard to narrow down because

00:02:09   there are a lot of Pearl Jam albums and

00:02:11   and even he

00:02:13   has many songs yeah each I apparently

00:02:16   has has good number of songs so it's

00:02:19   what I tried to do is narrow it down to

00:02:21   at least songs that people would have

00:02:23   heard mostly from the first two albums

00:02:25   10 and vs. yeah I think like kind of

00:02:27   their bigger hits would be yeah more

00:02:29   interesting for people to hear it's it's

00:02:32   really quite something else to try to

00:02:34   understand these lyrics to the point

00:02:35   where there's an entire youtube genre

00:02:37   called misheard lyrics where they like

00:02:41   basically put like funny words over the

00:02:44   song while it's playing in a YouTube

00:02:45   video some are a bit of a stretch most

00:02:47   and this is think most of them aren't

00:02:49   that good most of them aren't that funny

00:02:51   there and this is also a little bit

00:02:53   unusual in that I think we're both gonna

00:02:55   I think we already both know what our

00:02:58   number ones are going to be yeah

00:03:00   it's probably the same one for both of

00:03:02   us so it's a little bit unusual in that

00:03:04   but we'll work up to that so let's start

00:03:06   out with the earlier album and the

00:03:08   earlier song on it probably most

00:03:10   people's first Pearl Jam song they heard

00:03:12   even flow I mean just try to figure out

00:03:15   what is the first thing he says

00:03:19   freezer is a freezer its breather a

00:03:29   pillow in a concrete okay it's with the

00:03:32   freezer it's a cold pillow the he

00:03:34   probably has a cold temperate aquilo

00:03:36   because I had when my tempur-pedic

00:03:39   pillow is cold it's very hard it feels

00:03:42   like concrete so that's it it's freezer

00:03:45   so even flow is about using a

00:03:48   tempurpedic pillow in the winter I think

00:03:50   so let's let's hear a little more

00:03:54   [Music]

00:03:57   maybe you'll see a little better set of

00:03:59   Daisy said of days uh what is what is

00:04:02   that that been dazed it's okay so it's

00:04:04   just it's a really cold weak form yeah

00:04:12   then again in been again ahead down

00:04:15   these for getting familiar I don't I can

00:04:18   understand some of these lyrics yeah and

00:04:20   see this is specifically better like

00:04:22   Queen you can you can hear like maybe

00:04:24   every third word very clearly and

00:04:27   there's a lot of just sounds in there

00:04:29   like yeah or it's like it sometimes

00:04:31   those are actually words and sometimes

00:04:33   they're not

00:04:33   he also seems to give the audience a lot

00:04:36   of credit for being able to complete

00:04:39   words for him in our minds because he'll

00:04:41   often say like the first two-thirds of a

00:04:44   word and then just kind of trail off and

00:04:46   just stop it's fine wait

00:04:53   so can't help but his happy looks and

00:04:56   when is puffing oh his puppy yeah here's

00:05:01   a Pomeranian okay they kind of always

00:05:02   look insane Jack Russells yeah he just

00:05:07   took a dump cleared his throat

00:05:09   [Laughter]

00:05:17   what what's like butterflies evenflo

00:05:20   comes around like butter what is that

00:05:23   what this is this isn't like I've heard

00:05:25   this song a million times this is the

00:05:27   chorus of the song I have no idea what

00:05:29   it says I got butterflies but it makes

00:05:39   you feel really good when you get the

00:05:40   one RIT lyric though that you do

00:05:41   understand yeah exactly you don't know

00:05:45   we don't know

00:05:49   he chases them away he chases away the

00:05:51   butterflies well they're by a million

00:05:53   while he's trying to sleep on his hard

00:05:54   tempur-pedic pillow in the winter I'm

00:05:55   not sure what he doesn't know yeah he

00:05:57   doesn't know something he doesn't know

00:06:02   he never knows he can begin his life

00:06:07   again what

00:06:09   oh he's repeating even the repeats of a

00:06:14   lie and sometimes they're not like I've

00:06:19   occasionally like throughout my youth

00:06:20   and you know sing you know sing so many

00:06:22   songs in the car I've occasionally tried

00:06:24   to look up what the lyrics are to some

00:06:25   of them and some of them actually are

00:06:27   that tricky where like it'll be two

00:06:29   things in a row that sound pretty much

00:06:31   the same but are actually two different

00:06:33   words I'm curious like do the lyric

00:06:36   sites or whoever is like collecting and

00:06:39   I'm never going to look up these lyrics

00:06:40   because I don't want to know well that's

00:06:43   neither toothy though there are some

00:06:45   where it's actually funnier to listen to

00:06:48   if you know what he's supposed to be

00:06:49   saying because you're like really that

00:06:51   was supposed to be that we'll get there

00:06:53   we'll get there moving on to glorified G

00:06:56   [Music]

00:07:06   [Music]

00:07:08   is this glorified version of a pelican

00:07:10   yeah an American plant play it again

00:07:13   play order I like it is like it's like

00:07:23   about like you know manliness and stuff

00:07:25   but like no get played again like I got

00:07:31   to

00:07:35   [Music]

00:07:36   horrified version of a pellet gun Oh a

00:07:49   pelican isn't that just a bird I think

00:07:52   so is it pellet gun it could be either

00:07:57   really well I mean pellet gun makes more

00:07:59   sense I guess but I like pelicans better

00:08:02   what would a glorified Pelican be a

00:08:04   pterodactyl that's pretty cool I feel

00:08:13   the pterodactyls part it's probably the

00:08:15   glorified version of all birds maybe

00:08:18   like a dragon and all these years I

00:08:25   thought this was about pelicans but now

00:08:26   I think it's about guns that sucks no

00:08:29   all right whipping don't need a handle

00:08:38   don't need a helmet got a hard hard head

00:08:40   see I didn't understand that don't need

00:08:43   a handle

00:08:47   what he's already bred

00:08:54   don't need a panda bears too much

00:08:58   [Music]

00:09:03   whoa whoa we have what is loving can we

00:09:09   do that verse again please

00:09:11   [Music]

00:09:14   all right doesn't it raincoat he's

00:09:16   already wet he doesn't need a panda

00:09:21   if they'd know don't need a panda bears

00:09:24   too much you're so right

00:09:30   with the whip whipping whipping I think

00:09:33   this is on my list

00:09:34   yeah

00:09:39   see the song is called whipping is he

00:09:42   saying that there it sounds kind of like

00:09:43   it would be

00:09:45   [Music]

00:09:47   we think is pretty good it's I can't

00:09:49   understand the chorus even

00:09:51   [Music]

00:09:58   don't hand there's always a part

00:10:00   attached there's all these arms to test

00:10:02   oh I thought was there's always arms

00:10:04   attached which doesn't make sense

00:10:09   [Music]

00:10:13   I must reach rust all these rusted rails

00:10:16   mmm sure that's what he'd saying No

00:10:26   see is it there would be the or their or

00:10:29   their whipping the song is called

00:10:31   whipping but I don't hear that no I

00:10:34   don't hear that either

00:10:39   you know a he's at the whooping gah I

00:10:42   understand actually most of this

00:10:44   it just doesn't I said most just doesn't

00:10:47   make a lot of sense I might get him to

00:10:49   give this an honorable mention okay all

00:10:51   right there's also on the list of

00:10:54   horrible songs on Vitalogy there's a few

00:10:56   I think bugs is the worst but pry to

00:10:59   nobody likes bugs don't play bugs whoa

00:11:07   [Music]

00:11:10   this is alright I think we were going

00:11:16   all about this all wrong we were

00:11:18   listening to the popular song so try and

00:11:20   make it better for our audience but

00:11:22   really the crazy comes out in between

00:11:25   all the popular songs

00:11:27   what was he just saying I don't this

00:11:30   yeah this is why I can't listen to

00:11:31   Vitalogy that it was a song put onto an

00:11:34   album intentionally yeah like those

00:11:36   placed it took a slot new album and

00:11:40   right after that is one of my favorite

00:11:41   songs corduroy got the one about the

00:11:43   bear who loses the button in the

00:11:45   department store it is that Paddington

00:11:47   there's that something else no I think

00:11:49   that's a train station yes with a hat

00:11:52   yes the train station has a hat

00:11:54   [Music]

00:11:59   [Music]

00:12:01   and see this is mostly okay but all of

00:12:04   his lyrics really are on the verge it

00:12:05   kind of makes you have that feeling

00:12:07   where I feel a little bit smart for

00:12:09   knowing exactly what he's saying but but

00:12:12   you got a it's you've got a really pay

00:12:14   attention to be able to hear a lot of it

00:12:16   like sometimes all of Merlin's

00:12:18   references yeah I think your brain is

00:12:21   working overtime

00:12:22   yeah you can't play Pearl Jam 1.5 X

00:12:24   you'll miss it so yeah he'll cut off and

00:12:31   have kids

00:12:33   [Music]

00:12:35   whoa what whoa that was a good one what

00:12:39   I don't wanna what I got nothing from

00:12:41   that I got nothing I don't know okay so

00:12:44   what we're concluding is that you can

00:12:47   sing along to a certain point and then

00:12:49   everyone becomes that I don't know the

00:12:51   lyric person and it sounds like it yeah

00:12:54   I think he is becoming that

00:12:57   [Music]

00:13:07   what he doesn't want to wait for them to

00:13:09   law and I want to lay

00:13:12   [Music]

00:13:21   what what pay it off in blood in IV wet

00:13:25   I mean I played off in blood let I be

00:13:32   wet it sounds like that but okay all

00:13:34   right I'm gonna start looking up some

00:13:35   lyrics this is going to be the official

00:13:38   yeah look at the corduroy what are they

00:13:40   what are they saying good song man okay

00:13:49   it's that the the waiting drove me mad

00:13:52   you're finally here and I'm a mess I

00:13:55   take my entrance back can't let you roam

00:13:58   inside my head I take my entrance back

00:14:01   [Music]

00:14:03   I don't want to hear from those who know

00:14:06   what that's that

00:14:09   [Music]

00:14:12   he doesn't want to hear from those who

00:14:14   know that's it oh I would never have

00:14:16   gotten that they take they okay then it

00:14:19   says they can buy but can't put on my

00:14:22   clothes okay see that I hear that now I

00:14:33   would never gotten there well they could

00:14:36   buy his clothes but they can't put them

00:14:37   on right Wow I don't want to limp I

00:14:44   don't want to limp for them to walk wow

00:14:48   I didn't even I never limp is there is

00:14:50   there a like that was like I don't want

00:14:51   to wait for them to okay this is is

00:14:53   there any M&P sound in this I don't want

00:14:58   to lay like he doesn't even try a limp

00:15:01   he's not even trying on that word I mean

00:15:03   poetry wise it's actually very clever

00:15:05   but not saying these words

00:15:08   [Music]

00:15:09   Fiona near-death that's clear

00:15:14   what is that I'll pay it off in blood

00:15:17   let I be Wed what does that mean I don't

00:15:22   know man it means whatever to whoever is

00:15:25   listening to it is it cut up n I'm all

00:15:31   going to cut up and half dead

00:15:33   how dead I'll end up alone like I began

00:15:36   yes some of those words you you can

00:15:38   everything has chains at absolutely

00:15:40   nothing's changed everything has changed

00:15:44   oh my god

00:15:48   there it is oh my god this is my

00:15:50   favorite part of this song I've met I

00:15:52   never cook so is that absolutely nothing

00:15:58   to change or that another chains

00:15:59   absolutely no that's changed everything

00:16:03   has chains absolutely nothing and then

00:16:05   listen to this I don't even know if this

00:16:07   is a word okay take my hand not my

00:16:09   picture spill my pink sure that yeah

00:16:14   it's that's another word I was just kind

00:16:16   of gloss over and singing along

00:16:24   a tincture is a medicine made by

00:16:26   dissolving a drug in alcohol oh oh yeah

00:16:30   vocabulary I always thought that was

00:16:32   teacher and I mean it didn't make sense

00:16:33   but vocab lesson with Eddie Vedder oh

00:16:36   man this song I have a good idea he is

00:16:41   saying words that we literally don't

00:16:43   even know exists like the he just he's

00:16:45   teaching us you think all this time it

00:16:47   just been like he has an incredible

00:16:49   vocabulary you know much greater than

00:16:50   others not that we're miss hearing

00:16:51   things he's speaking like an archaic

00:16:53   language and we're just not sure of the

00:16:55   words they're not in our everyday life

00:16:57   that we are you know the he's just a

00:17:00   genius that's what it is all right we

00:17:02   need to go back I mean he's definitely

00:17:03   musical genius like we need to go back

00:17:04   to even flow and I'll read the lyric

00:17:10   we're gonna listen what we think it is

00:17:13   freezer right

00:17:16   yeah freezer rustles head on a pillow

00:17:19   made of concrete okay it's freezin so

00:17:21   okay close so it still could be about

00:17:24   tempur-pedic pillow zanter

00:17:31   so okay I think what he's trying to say

00:17:35   is feels like maybe he'll sleep better

00:17:37   in seven days but doesn't okay he's lost

00:17:40   over a lot of same feeling

00:17:42   it makes this seems like this is a

00:17:44   person's name Oh feeling yeah like

00:17:46   Ophelia but Oh feeling Oh feelin maybe

00:17:49   he'll see a little better any days Wow

00:17:52   maybe he'll see a little better

00:17:55   any day are these what's the source of

00:17:59   these lyrics see it just says Pearl Jam

00:18:06   [Music]

00:18:08   that's what he says that can't possibly

00:18:12   be like the lyric he wrote in his head

00:18:20   okay so head down faces some both hand

00:18:24   out faces that he sees come again

00:18:27   ain't that familiar what whoa okay okay

00:18:38   I hear that all right there's another

00:18:39   source it doesn't make sense that says

00:18:42   that other line was a feeling maybe

00:18:44   he'll see a little better set of days oh

00:18:48   yeah okay not that much better

00:18:58   all right oat bran he can't happy look

00:19:00   insane Oh dark grin he can't help when

00:19:05   he's happy he looks insane ok that the

00:19:09   second the last part I think was mostly

00:19:11   there sort of but Oh dark grin not oat

00:19:14   bran no not Oprah and smash you smoke

00:19:27   brand you got it yeah gotta go to the

00:19:28   bathroom

00:19:28   yeah it's just a song about his morning

00:19:33   routine

00:19:34   [Music]

00:21:07   make your next move make your next

00:21:08   website alright and then the lyrics to

00:21:11   glorified G okay I like the way the song

00:21:17   starts it's a great happy song sort of

00:21:19   until you hear the lyrics just like all

00:21:21   observers he's got a gun I mean right

00:21:24   out

00:21:26   what's the second line even though like

00:21:28   act I got to okay

00:21:31   I got a gun in fact I got to okay that's

00:21:33   I never would have heard that is that's

00:21:37   okay man cuz I love God

00:21:39   yeah that part's easy

00:21:42   [Music]

00:21:43   okay it's definitely pellet gun I can't

00:21:46   believe you heard that I Laura fired

00:21:48   version I've been listening to the song

00:21:49   for literally like 20 you thought it was

00:21:51   about birds shooting birds I thought it

00:21:53   was about Birds Dick Cheney I don't even

00:21:54   really heard the gun part like I mean I

00:21:57   didn't pay attention

00:21:59   [Music]

00:22:03   is it feels familiar with arms feel so

00:22:06   manly when armed when armed ok Wow these

00:22:11   he really glosses really sick oh no this

00:22:14   is a really kind of cool song I think

00:22:16   it's a very anti-gun song oh it

00:22:18   definitely is obviously but like so like

00:22:20   after the but until this recording

00:22:22   really after repeating the word Pelican

00:22:24   which is really pellet gun 10,000 times

00:22:26   the next verse is doublethink

00:22:29   dumb is strength what that's double

00:22:34   thing

00:22:35   dumb is strength what well one lyric fat

00:22:39   says double think other one says don't

00:22:42   think so they can't even agree like the

00:22:44   lyrics eyes don't even know no and then

00:22:46   dumb is strength never shot a living

00:22:48   thing hold on dumb is strength don't

00:22:52   miss that ring that's a stretch that's

00:22:55   head string I like dumb as string bet ya

00:22:57   string is not very smart so the next one

00:22:59   never shot a living thing

00:23:03   yeah that part sounds fine though feels

00:23:06   so manly when armed okay and then the

00:23:08   always keep it loaded and then kindred

00:23:14   to be an American what whoa I've never

00:23:20   heard that

00:23:21   okay that's been there I can feel your

00:23:24   heart I can feel your heart in your neck

00:23:26   I can feel your heart in your neck

00:23:29   [Music]

00:23:33   Wow Wow I never heard that before all

00:23:36   right Wow all right that's a that's a

00:23:39   pretty pretty bold song yeah I actually

00:23:41   kind of like it now I like it better

00:23:43   what whipping did we do that one this is

00:23:47   the one where we couldn't tell if they

00:23:48   were saying whipping in the chorus or

00:23:50   not whipping add they're whipping

00:23:52   they're whipping out of it

00:23:59   don't need a hand there's always arms

00:24:01   attached oh don't get signed I can fall

00:24:04   back

00:24:05   [Music]

00:24:10   yeah you're right I call that why must

00:24:14   we trust

00:24:14   all these rusted rails

00:24:22   rales didn't I make a train joke before

00:24:24   I think I actually might have heard this

00:24:26   mostly correct they don't want no change

00:24:29   we already have

00:24:31   [Music]

00:24:37   Wow there we go yeah not bad mm-hmm all

00:24:40   right well there's also the last song

00:24:43   that we should include his bugs no I'm

00:24:48   just kidding no it's nobody wants bugs

00:24:51   Marco I'm not sure I've ever heard that

00:24:53   song all the way through because every

00:24:56   time I play through Vitalogy or I try to

00:24:58   play through Vitalogy I get like halfway

00:25:00   through I'm just like oh my god I can't

00:25:01   take this anymore I have to skip the

00:25:02   song nobody wants bugs

00:25:03   it's that is by far like I think bugs if

00:25:07   we if we had do an episode on the worst

00:25:10   Pearl Jam songs ever put on an album I

00:25:12   think bugs would have to be number one

00:25:13   and and there are some some weird ones

00:25:16   in there so that's saying a lot but it's

00:25:17   it's got to be bugs it sucks I come down

00:25:20   on suction otherwise pretty decent album

00:25:22   whoo anyway but the number one I think

00:25:25   the master of misheard lyrics has got to

00:25:29   be and across all artists not even just

00:25:31   Eddie Vedder it's got to be yellow

00:25:34   Ledbetter I mean just try to figure out

00:25:40   what is being said here I'm not gonna

00:25:43   spoil the first word because I actually

00:25:44   looked it up a long time ago I remember

00:25:45   what the first word was supposed to be

00:25:47   and it makes no sense

00:25:49   [Music]

00:25:56   on the ceiling on the voice of glitter

00:25:58   fairy that's yeah like that's that I got

00:26:01   that's I didn't read that that's that

00:26:03   I'm going on the so I don't I don't know

00:26:08   it's like I know what it's supposed to

00:26:10   be so I'm not gonna say the rest of that

00:26:11   sentence but like that does not make any

00:26:14   sense

00:26:14   like it's not it's nowhere close well

00:26:17   I'll just tell you I'm pretty sure if I

00:26:19   remember correctly that is supposed to

00:26:20   be unsealed on the porch a letter sat

00:26:24   nope

00:26:25   [Music]

00:26:30   notes on the voice of glitter fairy

00:26:34   that is totally it's like it's hardware

00:26:38   I can't listen any harder to those

00:26:40   lyrics and come up with anything else

00:26:45   landfill I want to leave it again I

00:26:50   would also want to leave a landfill

00:26:52   landfill I want to leave it again ok on

00:26:55   the feeling on the voice of glitter

00:26:56   fairy landfill I want to leave it again

00:27:00   it's like there's no it's I have no idea

00:27:04   what that's supposed to be I think that

00:27:06   one line I remember go for another line

00:27:07   yeah one bizarre him one bizarre him

00:27:13   okay

00:27:13   [Music]

00:27:18   on the beach whether slathered houses on

00:27:23   the on the on a beach of weathered sand

00:27:25   on the beach no houses he says house is

00:27:27   how it's supposed to be on the beach of

00:27:28   whether it's an

00:27:32   on the on the Beast of weathered houses

00:27:36   obviously what it is and I know he

00:27:39   doesn't say sandy says houses on the

00:27:41   beast on the I don't hear that B's don't

00:27:44   I don't know what I am NOT a Mon Mona

00:27:52   said Mona here Mona okay at the song

00:27:56   about Mona uh-huh and she definitely

00:27:59   wants to leave it again yeah we don't

00:28:01   know when she left it the first time but

00:28:02   she wants to leave this glittery beast

00:28:04   on some sand she wants to leave it again

00:28:06   no there's no sand its houses sorry on a

00:28:16   wizard on a whale on a wheel on a wizard

00:28:24   on a whale it can't possibly be that on

00:28:31   a wheel on a weasel it's you know on a

00:28:42   wizard on a way it's gotta be an oyster

00:28:44   in a whale that's I'm totally agreement

00:28:46   there's nothing else that that could be

00:28:48   listen as hard as you possibly can and

00:28:49   try and hear anything else please I'm

00:28:51   thinking it's on a weasel on a wizard on

00:28:53   a whale No

00:29:01   whoa okay what on a cold

00:29:05   I got enough is it okay is I'm not a

00:29:08   cold night I I heard on a pill I want to

00:29:10   pull out again

00:29:16   and I called out again okay but yes this

00:29:20   is a hard one day ok so I can't wait to

00:29:22   read I need them and you called and I

00:29:25   called and I called you back and then

00:29:27   you call and then I thought I don't want

00:29:28   to call you anymore it's like it what is

00:29:30   that but different he's going phone text

00:29:34   about phone tag on a glittery beach all

00:29:37   right okay well the whale is there yes

00:29:39   and a wizard I don't know we haven't

00:29:41   quite figure out the wizard role yeah

00:29:42   is the wizard the one calling well the

00:29:44   song is not over yet let's find out and

00:29:46   the wizard

00:29:48   [Music]

00:29:51   and the wizard on a leave a combine yo

00:29:57   that says okay go back

00:30:00   [Music]

00:30:03   on the wizard I'm gonna leave a combine

00:30:06   oh oh

00:30:07   that's obviously that's what Wizards do

00:30:10   on beaches dinner full of glittery bears

00:30:12   or whatever this was again with the

00:30:17   whale he doesn't want a whale in a box

00:30:19   or a bag I don't want to wear a box or a

00:30:21   bag no he's back to the whale is the

00:30:23   whale glittery or was it just the Bears

00:30:25   no the wizard

00:30:26   well maybe the Wizards glittery and he

00:30:28   put some glitter onto the whale oh

00:30:29   that's his wizards can make sparkly

00:30:31   things happen right but where is Mona

00:30:33   can we do we don't have the power to

00:30:35   like vacuum up glitter in a permanent

00:30:37   way obviously create the glitter out of

00:30:39   this keep playing malaria

00:30:40   [Music]

00:30:44   okay we're very clear about this box or

00:30:47   a bag

00:30:47   we are very I said I don't want to wet

00:30:50   it to a boxer I know he doesn't want the

00:30:53   whale in a box or a bag

00:30:54   yeah just keep laying I mean it have to

00:30:56   be a pretty big boxer bag to fit a whale

00:30:58   in it

00:30:59   [Applause]

00:31:03   can you see them oh yeah can you see

00:31:05   them out on the porch yeah but they

00:31:13   don't wave wave

00:31:16   they don't wait you know there on the

00:31:18   porch but they're not waving they're

00:31:19   unfriendly neighbors they're jerks no

00:31:22   wait who's on the porch the 180 the

00:31:23   Bears no Mona oh ok so Mona is not

00:31:26   waving to the wizard and the sparkle

00:31:28   bears yes okay no the wizard is going by

00:31:30   on the whale Ramona's not when there's a

00:31:34   there's a team with sparkling bears

00:31:35   following it and the wizards like a

00:31:37   freakin who's rares there's no bears in

00:31:39   this one all the other song had bears no

00:31:42   this one has the sparkle bears no the

00:31:43   agenda with the bears no I'm getting

00:31:45   confused alright yeah this is it's hard

00:31:47   to keep track of all these metaphors

00:31:48   okay I don't even know if they are

00:31:50   metaphors you might have actually seen

00:31:51   this just keep going

00:31:53   [Music]

00:31:57   do you see them around the front way

00:31:59   around the runway on the Oh uh is there

00:32:03   an airport

00:32:04   yes nation now they're at the airport

00:32:05   okay wait maybe does the whole thing

00:32:07   take place at an airport have a

00:32:09   sparkling things he's seeing and maybe

00:32:10   Wizards are like like maybe he can't

00:32:13   believe that planes can fly so cool so

00:32:15   he's like maybe he thinks the pilots are

00:32:16   Wizards now you're just being silly

00:32:18   [Music]

00:32:23   I know I know I don't want to say or

00:32:26   save now he knows he doesn't want to

00:32:28   save the contents of what he just did in

00:32:30   his document I know I don't want to save

00:32:32   no make maybe why make me fries it's

00:32:37   probably making me fries but it's got

00:32:39   its a fly baby fly make me fly oh maybe

00:32:42   it's making me fly

00:32:43   well we're on the airport right make me

00:32:45   cry make me fly

00:32:47   I'm thinking it's cry I like making me

00:32:49   fries yeah but it might be make me fly

00:32:52   if we're if we are indeed back at this

00:32:53   airport and he thinks the Wizards are

00:32:55   controlling all the planes because he

00:32:56   doesn't know how planes work then maybe

00:32:58   he's asking the wizard pilots to make

00:32:59   him fly maybe he's trying to buy a plane

00:33:01   ticket and a really read about way okay

00:33:04   I am going to let the letter on the

00:33:06   porch was an advertisement for a plane

00:33:09   ticket and he went to the airport and

00:33:11   he's like look baby stop calling me but

00:33:12   I'm gonna call you back but call me back

00:33:14   and call you back and please could I

00:33:15   just have a ticket to get on this plane

00:33:16   it's gotta be right I don't know why

00:33:26   there's something else maybe oh yeah

00:33:29   that sounds pretty good

00:33:33   on a combine on away unaware on a

00:33:38   combine unaware Hatton okay

00:33:40   then we're back to the combine I'm not

00:33:41   entirely well-versed in farm equipment

00:33:44   but how could you possibly be not aware

00:33:46   that you're on a combine aren't they

00:33:48   pretty large they're really big yeah

00:33:50   they're probably one of the biggest farm

00:33:52   equipments you could be on I mean you

00:33:53   have to like you have to have drank a

00:33:55   lot to not realize that you were on a

00:33:57   combine I mean maybe he just was never

00:33:59   told it was a combine he doesn't know

00:34:06   where there's a box or a bag so he's not

00:34:08   he's not aware of the box or the bag or

00:34:10   the combine I mean do people usually

00:34:12   keep boxes and bags and combines I've

00:34:14   never been in one is there like do you

00:34:16   keep like a bunch of crap in the cabin

00:34:17   so you can like you know maybe

00:34:19   castellane bags yeah he's an employee

00:34:22   for the song it's a clerk and he's he's

00:34:24   packaging things up for people

00:34:26   he's just bagging somebody's groceries

00:34:27   he's like I don't know where to put this

00:34:28   I can't find a box or a bag mm-hmm maybe

00:34:30   this is the combine like a store in the

00:34:32   south and he worked at oh maybe it's the

00:34:34   name of a store yeah who knows they have

00:34:35   weird names down there

00:34:40   [Music]

00:34:41   he's asking me is he asking can you see

00:34:44   a boxer bag anywhere anybody can you see

00:34:47   there's a box or a bag can you see them

00:34:51   that's it that must be it

00:34:56   code on the port Oh easy backup no no

00:35:00   he's on the porch and he's asking if

00:35:03   they see the box or the bag out on the

00:35:05   porch and they've so okay so he's hoping

00:35:07   that the letter carrier will come and

00:35:09   take the packages he's trying to send

00:35:11   that he put out onto the porch but that

00:35:13   didn't sound that sound like port that

00:35:15   was like definitely not porch see

00:35:20   there's no more port e that's port like

00:35:23   so I'm thinking like now he's on a dock

00:35:25   or pier alright so now we're loading

00:35:27   things onto a boat called the combine

00:35:29   that he's a grocery store clerk on this

00:35:32   is like somebody's a weird nonsensical

00:35:34   dream it is it's like oh you were there

00:35:36   but you weren't there and it was your

00:35:37   house but it wasn't yeah and we were in

00:35:39   an airport but it was really a boat and

00:35:41   we're that's whales there was a car only

00:35:42   and there's this wizard on top of the

00:35:44   whales that's what it is and we were at

00:35:46   the grocery store but I couldn't find

00:35:47   anything to put your groceries in okay

00:35:49   yep

00:35:50   [Music]

00:35:51   but they don't wait

00:35:55   [Music]

00:35:59   round the wrong way I see yeah see if

00:36:03   when I see them rat around the wrong way

00:36:05   I wait you so okay so what's around the

00:36:09   wrong way the Box in the bag is looking

00:36:11   for know that or the wizard in their

00:36:12   Sparkle bear I it's hard to keep track

00:36:15   there's a lot of things in the song

00:36:18   [Music]

00:36:24   he doesn't want to sleep it off I don't

00:36:26   want to say get out what oh I don't want

00:36:29   to take it off

00:36:32   I don't want to say it all that's that's

00:36:34   a tough one I don't want to say I wanna

00:36:36   say good all I don't want to say it all

00:36:40   I don't know he doesn't want to stare

00:36:47   okay so is it rude to stare at sparkle

00:36:50   Wizards and and Beach bears well he's

00:36:52   the people that aren't waving oh well

00:36:56   why aren't they waving wouldn't if you

00:36:58   saw a wizard followed by Sparkle he's an

00:37:01   American pilots like wouldn't you they

00:37:03   don't wave he that's he keeps repeating

00:37:05   they don't they're just not waving but

00:37:07   what's the Box in the bag

00:37:08   okay he's an old guy sitting on a porch

00:37:10   and people are walking by and they're

00:37:13   not waving and he's just mad and he's

00:37:15   coming up with stories up but like why

00:37:17   they're not waving to him

00:37:18   [Music]

00:37:23   I don't want to stay I don't want to

00:37:24   stay

00:37:31   was that a word that's the last word in

00:37:34   the song so i i i i think i'm even more

00:37:38   confused than ever now like like when i

00:37:41   first okay so look at the lyrics now

00:37:43   okay first of all did i remember

00:37:44   correctly that the first thing is

00:37:46   unsealed on a porch a letter so yes

00:37:47   uncie he is on a porch veal lid yeah he

00:37:55   really draws that out when you said i

00:37:58   want to leave it again then you said saw

00:38:07   her on a beach of weathered sand

00:38:10   hey i got it right on the sand and on

00:38:17   the sand

00:38:18   i want to leave her again okay so when

00:38:19   he says sand yeah that's his language is

00:38:23   are we are we making fun of somebody

00:38:25   who's a really bad speech impediment no

00:38:27   he could actually say these sounds yes

00:38:29   okay i don't know there's no okay hold

00:38:42   on no way weekend I want to wish it all

00:38:50   away yeah that's really a stretch and

00:38:53   they all and they called and I said that

00:38:56   I'll go and I said that I'll call out

00:39:00   again

00:39:03   I know what was that and I'll go yeah

00:39:08   really and out that this is and I'll go

00:39:13   and I will be called and I'll go get

00:39:17   place and I'll go

00:39:19   that's not even go it's he says will he

00:39:21   says go I'll go he wishes it together

00:39:24   play together he called and I know

00:39:29   there's no G sound that's incredible

00:39:40   again really that's again again and the

00:39:43   reason I ought to leave her calm I know

00:39:47   [Music]

00:39:52   I mean I can I can see where I hear

00:39:55   words like Gump and combine and wizard

00:39:58   and it's like if you like I don't hear

00:40:01   any of these I mean this is like okay I

00:40:04   think we should change our top four okay

00:40:06   so yes there were some other songs with

00:40:09   misheard lyrics but this song is

00:40:12   obviously the pinnacle shining star of

00:40:15   the misheard Eddie Vedder lyric I think

00:40:18   we should choose our favorite misheard

00:40:20   line just for the olive or misheard

00:40:24   yellow Ledbetter

00:40:29   what is Ledbetter is that is that a

00:40:30   thing I'm gonna maybe it's one of those

00:40:32   it's like the Tincher I'm sure it's a

00:40:36   smart reference to something or a drunk

00:40:38   reference to something I don't know but

00:40:40   it's like it's even hard to say the

00:40:42   title is um it comes up with nothing

00:40:46   oh my god all right so that's oh my god

00:40:52   [Music]

00:40:56   what said I don't know whether I'm the

00:41:00   boxer or the bag a box that makes so

00:41:07   much sense I don't know whether I'm the

00:41:10   boxer or the bag that's very poetic

00:41:13   it is poetic if you would have actually

00:41:15   said that oh man see this there's no way

00:41:20   that again yeah

00:41:21   [Music]

00:41:23   calm I know

00:41:25   [Music]

00:41:30   he does not say boxer oh hey can you see

00:41:34   them out on the porch yeah but they

00:41:40   don't wave all right you got that

00:41:42   [Music]

00:41:43   I see them round the front way yeah

00:41:50   and I know and I know I don't wanna stay

00:41:57   make me cry all right so let's let's not

00:42:00   make me fries it's make me cry oh man

00:42:04   or make me fly oh I see I don't know why

00:42:09   there's something else I want to I want

00:42:16   to drum it all away does on a comm line

00:42:19   nope I want I wanted to rum it all away

00:42:22   okay hold on

00:42:27   no there's not even close but I wanted I

00:42:31   wanted to rum it all away it's not even

00:42:34   what he says though it's just not

00:42:42   Drummond there's no like dr set like

00:42:45   that that's not there

00:42:47   [Music]

00:42:53   he doesn't even say boxer no it's it

00:42:56   sounds like where there's a box like

00:42:58   it's not even hold on so it's supposed

00:43:00   to be I don't know whether I'm the box

00:43:02   or the bag I said I don't know whether

00:43:04   I'm the boxer or the bag boxer right

00:43:07   okay and definitely I want to drum it

00:43:16   all away oh I said I don't know I don't

00:43:19   know whether I'm the boxer or the bag

00:43:21   like even with these mobile websites are

00:43:24   saying that that's what it is I mean

00:43:25   that like as a line of poetry that makes

00:43:28   sense but the sounds that are coming out

00:43:31   of his mouth like you can't like

00:43:32   sometimes when you hear when you find

00:43:34   out what a lyric is you can you can kind

00:43:36   of realism and you can hear that lyric

00:43:39   then like being said you just weren't

00:43:40   like hearing it in the right way you

00:43:42   weren't like interpreting the words

00:43:43   correctly but in this case like the

00:43:44   sounds that he's saying do not form

00:43:46   these words no matter how you hear it

00:43:48   it's not even close I'm gonna vote for

00:43:50   my most misheard lyrics oh yeah yellow

00:43:52   Ledbetter to be I want to want to drum

00:43:56   it all away that's really good and that

00:43:58   I don't there's none of those sounds in

00:44:01   there at all and then I think my second

00:44:04   I don't I don't know whether there's a

00:44:06   bot I'm I was the boxer or the bag yeah

00:44:09   that's I mean after that it's pretty

00:44:12   much I don't want to stay I don't want

00:44:14   to stay I don't want to stay I don't I

00:44:16   don't want to stay I I think I really

00:44:19   got a got a give a shout-out to on a

00:44:21   weekend oh yeah that was really good I

00:44:25   want to wish it all away yeah that yeah

00:44:30   that's a and the reason I ought to leave

00:44:32   or come I know that was also like the

00:44:35   reason I ought to leave her calm I know

00:44:38   this is even like I don't know whether

00:44:43   I'm the boxer or the bed like that's

00:44:45   there's just like no there's no sound of

00:44:48   that here mm-hmm like there's so many

00:44:50   completely missing consonant sounds and

00:44:54   sometimes wrong and like differently

00:44:56   inserted consonant sounds that like it

00:44:59   wasn't just that he glossed over some of

00:45:00   the words it's that he actually made the

00:45:02   wrong size for different words and they

00:45:05   called and I said that I'll go

00:45:07   I said that I'll call out again

00:45:10   [Music]

00:45:16   yeah that that's transcribed as I don't

00:45:18   I don't want to stay but I think you

00:45:20   just kind of stops halfway through the

00:45:21   first I don't and this isn't a live song

00:45:23   like it's not being those live right now

00:45:25   studio recording so it's not like he was

00:45:28   having a performance no oh my god well I

00:45:32   do actually have top four songs

00:45:34   I mean yellow Ledbetter is obviously

00:45:36   number one and then between Evenflo

00:45:38   whipping and corduroy I mean they can be

00:45:42   jostled around so III mean it's hard for

00:45:45   me to pick like because I think I'm with

00:45:47   you like you know it's it's pretty hard

00:45:49   to actually rank the songs cuz so many

00:45:50   them were more intelligible than we

00:45:51   thought but a lot of them were pretty

00:45:54   comical but I think nothing compares to

00:45:56   yellow Ledbetter it's it stands on its

00:45:58   own so far above everything else

00:46:00   it falls on its own yeah exactly it

00:46:03   stumbles over on so I honestly I think I

00:46:06   might like my version of the song better

00:46:07   with the Wizards and the glittery bears

00:46:09   and stuff but it's Minh you know the

00:46:12   grocery clerk who can't find a pilot in

00:46:15   the airport like it and but for some

00:46:17   reason on a boat also I'm sure that

00:46:21   everyone can sing along to this song

00:46:22   yeah really yeah it doesn't I'm equally

00:46:26   unstable footing yeah because it doesn't

00:46:28   really first of all no one knows lyrics

00:46:30   when they when you're saying along with

00:46:31   the group people are and no one knows

00:46:33   that the lyrics actually are even if you

00:46:34   do know what the lyrics actually are it

00:46:37   doesn't make sense or sound like that

00:46:39   so you even if you sang the correct

00:46:41   lyrics it would sound like you were

00:46:43   singing the wrong lyrics alright so we

00:46:47   definitely have number one

00:46:48   yo Ledbetter yeah and everything else

00:46:52   after that I mean I guess we have even

00:46:54   flow whipping and corduroy kind of in

00:46:56   the same camp glorified G I thought was

00:46:58   good with the Pelican but that ended up

00:47:01   being pretty clear yeah get out pellet

00:47:03   gun I did yeah even flow I think we had

00:47:06   a lot of good fun with yeah so maybe I

00:47:09   put even plot number two quarter by

00:47:11   three glorified Pelican number four well

00:47:13   what about corduroy oh no what about

00:47:16   whipping whooping was okay I think

00:47:19   Whitman was better than glorified G

00:47:21   alright so you can rank so okay my

00:47:23   ranking is number one yellow Ledbetter

00:47:25   number two even flow three corridor a

00:47:27   for glorified G what is your ranking

00:47:29   okay yo

00:47:30   Leadbetter number one Evenflo corduroy

00:47:33   and then whipping alright thanks for

00:47:36   listening everybody I can't believe you

00:47:37   made it through this I can't believe we

00:47:39   made it through this Thank You Eddie

00:47:40   Vetter for providing years of decades

00:47:43   really of amazing music that we really

00:47:45   do enjoy and for hopefully not having a

00:47:48   problem with this podcast I don't know

00:47:49   whether I'm the boxer or the bag Marco

00:47:52   oh yeah yeah yeah yeah
