00:00:59   chosen for you for viewing pleasure for [TS]

00:01:03   viewing [TS]

00:01:04   not that I 1993 is super mario brothers [TS]

00:01:09   based on the loosely based on the arm [TS]

00:01:14   perhaps a screenplay was written with [TS]

00:01:17   elements from a checklist of the video [TS]

00:01:21   games of the same name sharing a tight [TS]

00:01:23   written by someone who had seen the [TS]

00:01:25   front of the cartridge and nothing more [TS]

00:01:27   nothing more this uh this film starring [TS]

00:01:32   bob hoskins a good actor john leguizamo [TS]

00:01:36   an actor [TS]

00:01:37   yeah Wow a good manama he does what he [TS]

00:01:40   does well writing what he does is [TS]

00:01:43   hateful and awful but he does it well [TS]

00:01:45   and many others [TS]

00:01:46   this is super mario brothers let me [TS]

00:01:49   introduce the people who watch this [TS]

00:01:50   movie because they are heroes [TS]

00:01:52   David Laura hello I are you sure this [TS]

00:01:55   isn't about Jurassic world because i'm [TS]

00:01:58   ready i hate that 60 million years ago a [TS]

00:02:01   media hit brooklyn one of the fusion of [TS]

00:02:04   ideas with Tony Cinda law that that's me [TS]

00:02:08   I don't know why you introduce me that [TS]

00:02:10   way that I don't know [TS]

00:02:11   keeps me it's a meat-eor Italian slurs [TS]

00:02:18   today these Lots is also out there who [TS]

00:02:21   wants me let's 10 [TS]

00:02:25   well that's just Steve I also joining us [TS]

00:02:28   is one of those plumbers phillip michael [TS]

00:02:31   plumbers lawyers [TS]

00:02:34   yeah look just shut plumbers for about [TS]

00:02:37   20 minutes recreated the experience of [TS]

00:02:40   watching Super Mario also be Monty [TS]

00:02:42   Ashley I he may not be a plumber even if [TS]

00:02:46   your movie does have motor Nixon they [TS]

00:02:48   could still use some fixes go nice round [TS]

00:02:51   is no Indian cut [TS]

00:02:53   yes i did i did identify mojo nixon was [TS]

00:02:55   like hey oh and now he's gone [TS]

00:02:58   yeah replaced with a puppet and Joe [TS]

00:03:02   steel Joseph rosenstiel hello hello [TS]

00:03:05   ready to rock as it were because the [TS]

00:03:07   because the rocks as plumbers as I was [TS]

00:03:10   saying Super Mario Brothers begins with [TS]

00:03:16   the mario music I I think I don't want [TS]

00:03:19   to give anything away that that was the [TS]

00:03:21   only mom where there was a hint of a [TS]

00:03:23   smile on my face when the little music [TS]

00:03:25   kicked in at the beginning of the movie [TS]

00:03:27   and from then on I i was the great stone [TS]

00:03:30   face for the rest of the motion picture [TS]

00:03:32   that's the moment where you think oh [TS]

00:03:33   this is great this is going to be a film [TS]

00:03:35   filled with the joy that we in that we [TS]

00:03:38   have when we play a video game like [TS]

00:03:40   Mario Brothers which we enjoy so much [TS]

00:03:41   Jason can i make my quick opening [TS]

00:03:44   statement yes please go ahead Monty [TS]

00:03:46   although I am a video gamer at her [TS]

00:03:50   I've been playing video games for my [TS]

00:03:54   entire life I have no nostalgic [TS]

00:03:57   connection to nintendo games in general [TS]

00:03:59   or Mario in specific because i never had [TS]

00:04:03   a nintendo I had a ColecoVision later on [TS]

00:04:07   at genesis so the only nostalgic [TS]

00:04:10   connection i have this movie was working [TS]

00:04:12   in a movie theater in 1993 and there [TS]

00:04:15   very very unhappy crowds do we have to [TS]

00:04:19   announce our video game console [TS]

00:04:21   allegiance before it became this just so [TS]

00:04:23   that only if you do it's necessary an [TS]

00:04:25   opening scene although i will say that [TS]

00:04:27   like Monty I never I never had any of [TS]

00:04:30   those early Nintendo's I i had an Atari [TS]

00:04:32   and the night sort of didn't do console [TS]

00:04:34   games again until the first PlayStation [TS]

00:04:36   so I other than watching my [TS]

00:04:38   brother-in-law when he was a little kid [TS]

00:04:39   because you use he's 14 years younger [TS]

00:04:42   than my wife and we visit visit her [TS]

00:04:45   parents house and he would be sitting [TS]

00:04:46   there playing on nintendo and that's how [TS]

00:04:48   i got exposed to all the nintendo stuff [TS]

00:04:50   with through through him [TS]

00:04:51   so that's what's really there is no in [TS]

00:04:53   1993 when this movie was made there [TS]

00:04:55   really wasn't much super mario brothers [TS]

00:04:57   nostalgia to be had in the game the [TS]

00:05:00   original game was what 1984-85 yeah it [TS]

00:05:04   was pretty well it-it-it only been [TS]

00:05:05   around forever but isn't my game [TS]

00:05:08   well there's been for every game up till [TS]

00:05:10   that point there really was nothing much [TS]

00:05:12   by way of a storyline you know it was [TS]

00:05:16   yeah yeah yeah yeah it's like hey the [TS]

00:05:18   kids the kids they love the video games [TS]

00:05:20   what what if we sent immediately [TS]

00:05:21   Brooklyn no that's the wrong thing [TS]

00:05:23   what if we made a movie about the video [TS]

00:05:25   games but the thing is there's no [TS]

00:05:26   there's no storyline to screw up here I [TS]

00:05:28   mean there's no storyline to the Super [TS]

00:05:30   Mario Brothers games up till this point [TS]

00:05:31   it's guy in overalls jumps on mushrooms [TS]

00:05:34   the game this is closest to is super [TS]

00:05:36   mario world which it'll which is from [TS]

00:05:38   1990 so keep that in mind but even a [TS]

00:05:41   little bit of storyline that they do [TS]

00:05:42   have they screwed up royally [TS]

00:05:44   oh yeah it is a blank canvas I'm to [TS]

00:05:46   which you can project your your vision [TS]

00:05:48   and your ear how you feel that Mario [TS]

00:05:50   story should be told and this is what [TS]

00:05:53   they came up with him [TS]

00:05:54   well i'm not certain there's an answer [TS]

00:05:55   that would make a good movie for the use [TS]

00:05:59   of today you might assume if you go to [TS]

00:06:01   an orchestral rendition of video game [TS]

00:06:03   theme songs and note that it's all Mario [TS]

00:06:06   you would assume that back in the day [TS]

00:06:08   everybody loved Mario and it was a huge [TS]

00:06:11   cultural touch Mario mania was sweeping [TS]

00:06:14   the nation [TS]

00:06:15   it wasn't it wasn't you know interesting [TS]

00:06:17   definitely as well and the thing that [TS]

00:06:19   cracks me up is apparently this was the [TS]

00:06:23   the director of The Killing Fields good [TS]

00:06:26   director roland Joffe yes said you know [TS]

00:06:29   this would make a really good movie you [TS]

00:06:32   have a mission and he one of my favorite [TS]

00:06:34   movies the mission [TS]

00:06:35   yeah and and then he brought in the the [TS]

00:06:37   couple that made the original max [TS]

00:06:39   headroom short film yes yes i want i [TS]

00:06:41   want to point that out because max [TS]

00:06:43   headroom is one of my favorite TV shows [TS]

00:06:44   of all time that that rock more than an [TS]

00:06:46   animal jackal who directed this directed [TS]

00:06:48   the UK film max headroom that was then [TS]

00:06:52   adapted into my face one of my favorite [TS]

00:06:54   TV shows of all time and in fact the [TS]

00:06:56   soda commercials [TS]

00:06:57   yes and which is into the field look of [TS]

00:07:00   this film is quite similar to that Max [TS]

00:07:03   Headroom filled with the weird like [TS]

00:07:06   cityscapes and stuff like that and the [TS]

00:07:07   any old cars and steam everywhere is [TS]

00:07:10   very much straight out of that Max [TS]

00:07:12   Headroom show which i will also point [TS]

00:07:14   out was uh what nine years eight years [TS]

00:07:17   earlier so they and they seem to have [TS]

00:07:20   not worked since then so other than [TS]

00:07:22   music videos ice maybe I do have maybe I [TS]

00:07:25   do have a brief opening statement by way [TS]

00:07:26   of minor defense for this film [TS]

00:07:29   all boy because I far lower standards [TS]

00:07:32   than all of you as you all know uh yes [TS]

00:07:34   this is good point i think if this music [TS]

00:07:37   is that your opening statement is if [TS]

00:07:40   this was not an attempt to tie-in in [TS]

00:07:42   some cash grab way to Super Mario [TS]

00:07:44   Brothers I don't think it would be as [TS]

00:07:47   universally regarded as awful as it is i [TS]

00:07:49   think it's a phenomenally stupid weird [TS]

00:07:52   but somewhat competently made movie that [TS]

00:07:57   would have been I I've seen worse [TS]

00:08:01   definitely I've seen a lot worse and it [TS]

00:08:04   would have come and gone and been [TS]

00:08:05   forgotten its it's simply the fact that [TS]

00:08:07   somebody was told [TS]

00:08:09   we're gonna make a super mario brothers [TS]

00:08:10   movie and people went to the theaters [TS]

00:08:12   thinking of Super Mario Brothers movie [TS]

00:08:13   and this is what they got and that is [TS]

00:08:15   why it is regarded as poorly as it is my [TS]

00:08:17   career I don't think it's as bad as [TS]

00:08:18   everybody makes it out to be as a Super [TS]

00:08:20   Mario Brothers movie it is absolutely as [TS]

00:08:22   bad as everybody makes it out to be but [TS]

00:08:25   completely objectively without that [TS]

00:08:27   context I it's it's really not as awful [TS]

00:08:31   as a lot of things that I've said grave [TS]

00:08:32   gravelord Steve bravery somewhat [TS]

00:08:35   starters I think it in in the same way [TS]

00:08:37   that the prequels suffer for John [TS]

00:08:39   syracuse which is that you had one job [TS]

00:08:41   here in the prequels it was come up with [TS]

00:08:44   an interesting backstory for Anakin [TS]

00:08:47   Skywalker before he's Darth Vader and [TS]

00:08:49   show how he became Darth Vader in this [TS]

00:08:50   it's do something for God's sake with [TS]

00:08:53   super mario brothers that is somewhat [TS]

00:08:55   related to supermarket basically [TS]

00:08:56   resembles anything and they failed [TS]

00:09:00   I i agree with you Steve I i think this [TS]

00:09:02   is not a good movie by any stretch of [TS]

00:09:04   the imagination but what makes it kind [TS]

00:09:05   of colossally mind-bogglingly bad is [TS]

00:09:09   that they had one job which was to tie [TS]

00:09:12   this movie into these video games and [TS]

00:09:14   the things they do tie-in are [TS]

00:09:16   inexplicable and yes they could they [TS]

00:09:20   completely fail at that job beyond that [TS]

00:09:22   it is a forgettable weird semi comedy [TS]

00:09:27   fantasy something but just that would be [TS]

00:09:29   immediately forgotten i think several [TS]

00:09:31   factors also supposed to be this di n [TS]

00:09:34   that is a completely fails so to think [TS]

00:09:36   that that confuses me and and and and [TS]

00:09:39   angers me somewhat as as much as a [TS]

00:09:42   I I did something angers you yeah my [TS]

00:09:46   Mario experience is basically limited to [TS]

00:09:48   play Mario Kart which are these bright [TS]

00:09:51   fun little worlds with mushrooms and [TS]

00:09:53   turn turtle shells and and no and and [TS]

00:09:59   you're not playing the stock in Mario [TS]

00:10:01   Kart it looks just like two old taxicabs [TS]

00:10:04   with elbow and athletic turn it and not [TS]

00:10:08   darken like a cool dark way darken likey [TS]

00:10:11   did someone forget to pay the lighting [TS]

00:10:12   built i play that this awful world Max [TS]

00:10:16   Headroom is is sort of future yet cold [TS]

00:10:20   and dark and baroque and strange and it [TS]

00:10:23   works for that because it's like this [TS]

00:10:24   dystopian future right it's mario [TS]

00:10:27   brothers a dark tale of a disco you have [TS]

00:10:29   created a you want to create this [TS]

00:10:31   strange world not unlike our own where [TS]

00:10:33   there are turtle men and nose and [TS]

00:10:35   Bradley colored objects and even the [TS]

00:10:37   monsters are kind of cute and cuddly [TS]

00:10:40   instead they created a world it's like [TS]

00:10:42   spooky Manhattan that is slightly [TS]

00:10:43   spookier than actual Manhattan maybe [TS]

00:10:45   three [TS]

00:10:46   so yeah I have a note fairly early on [TS]

00:10:48   the streets yes this hellscape of neon [TS]

00:10:51   Sparks and sauerkraut really evokes the [TS]

00:10:53   simple joys of the money [TS]

00:10:54   yeah i like when they then they'll you [TS]

00:10:57   know I guess jumping ahead it were not [TS]

00:10:59   really doing anything but uh they then [TS]

00:11:01   we haven't started yet and they [TS]

00:11:02   established that everything outside the [TS]

00:11:04   hellscape of their metropolis is a [TS]

00:11:06   health scape of desert for as well as [TS]

00:11:08   the rainbow highway where is the there's [TS]

00:11:11   not even a nice level for God's sake [TS]

00:11:12   there's always been so sleeves there are [TS]

00:11:14   all those leaves at one point that [TS]

00:11:16   reminded crashed into three ways but [TS]

00:11:19   what about what about all the squid [TS]

00:11:20   people underwater and yeah you know I [TS]

00:11:22   think there's a line in this film though [TS]

00:11:23   that tells you exactly what was going on [TS]

00:11:25   throughout the making and that is when [TS]

00:11:26   Luigi looks at the fungus and says the [TS]

00:11:29   mushroom is trying to tell us something [TS]

00:11:30   hmm the amazing thing is john boarman [TS]

00:11:34   was on drugs the whole time if you [TS]

00:11:37   thought Super Mario Brothers was wild [TS]

00:11:39   wait till you see Kirby a jon foreman [TS]

00:11:42   fill the puff is bad [TS]

00:11:47   arbaaz the head Solomon who I guess was [TS]

00:11:51   one of the main screen writers on this [TS]

00:11:53   by the end his next movie was men in [TS]

00:11:55   black and when you take that you can [TS]

00:11:57   look and see little similarities through [TS]

00:11:59   these times 2 which is weird shade and [TS]

00:12:02   apply in that it worked yeah i should i [TS]

00:12:06   should i begin our march through our [TS]

00:12:08   death march through the plot or ask ya [TS]

00:12:10   must you can exactly in this movie was [TS]

00:12:13   gonna mention right now you can watch [TS]

00:12:14   the whole movie on YouTube for some [TS]

00:12:15   reason because nobody even cares enough [TS]

00:12:17   to contest the great right that's that's [TS]

00:12:19   the way if you would like to watch this [TS]

00:12:20   movie don't watch this movie [TS]

00:12:21   youtube is the place to go yet do not [TS]

00:12:24   spend a nickel just gonna watch on watch [TS]

00:12:26   on youtube yeah I always feel guilty [TS]

00:12:28   when i do that [TS]

00:12:29   damn you know the innocence taking money [TS]

00:12:32   out of people's pockets i felt no guilt [TS]

00:12:34   watching that video quality really [TS]

00:12:37   suffers on youtube you might not be [TS]

00:12:38   getting the full experience that I you [TS]

00:12:41   could see it on DVD so you know i wish i [TS]

00:12:43   could much also Joffe and take money out [TS]

00:12:46   of his pocket rather than now spend a [TS]

00:12:48   dime watching Super Mario Brothers so [TS]

00:12:50   the mario music plays we get our glimmer [TS]

00:12:55   of hope it's dashed and then there is a [TS]

00:12:58   series of computery pieces of art while [TS]

00:13:03   dancing stronger yeah [TS]

00:13:05   general general is also a strong word [TS]

00:13:07   computer and lifetime already tried to [TS]

00:13:10   bunch of the sort of stills from an [TS]

00:13:12   apple to a drawing program work or a [TS]

00:13:15   rudimentary adventure game as dan [TS]

00:13:20   Castellaneta TVs homer simpson does it [TS]

00:13:24   affects a Brooklyn accent but even I [TS]

00:13:27   mean it was an attempt to make things [TS]

00:13:28   look pixelated and and they failed even [TS]

00:13:31   at that it clearly looks like somebody's [TS]

00:13:33   attempt to make something look pixelated [TS]

00:13:34   as opposed to something that's actually [TS]

00:13:35   pixel but certainly does not look like a [TS]

00:13:37   mario video game in England sale or form [TS]

00:13:40   this further does not stand up while [TS]

00:13:42   this came out the same year is Jurassic [TS]

00:13:43   Park in Jurassic Park has that it has a [TS]

00:13:47   cheesy animated sequence in the park [TS]

00:13:49   where their hey here's how we do DNA and [TS]

00:13:52   and are you suggesting that this is not [TS]

00:13:53   the finest dinosaur movie event not even [TS]

00:13:55   the best dinosaur movie of 1993 [TS]

00:13:58   Wow dan Castellaneta has his Brooklyn [TS]

00:14:02   accent as he explains some and you know [TS]

00:14:05   it's never a good idea when the movie [TS]

00:14:07   starts with narration [TS]

00:14:08   much expertise also some points off of [TS]

00:14:11   the fact that you get the narrator and [TS]

00:14:12   then the narrator's never heard from [TS]

00:14:13   again that's the number a good point and [TS]

00:14:16   then here what we're he dan Castellaneta [TS]

00:14:18   has to get us to accept this film's [TS]

00:14:20   completely ludicrous premise which is [TS]

00:14:23   the the meteor or the object that hit [TS]

00:14:27   the earth and killed the dinosaurs was a [TS]

00:14:29   meteorite and it hit brooklyn and killed [TS]

00:14:33   the dinosaurs but not all the dinosaurs [TS]

00:14:35   some dinosaurs were sent to a parallel [TS]

00:14:38   universe [TS]

00:14:39   this is the point at which my wife and I [TS]

00:14:41   looked at each other and said how is [TS]

00:14:44   this mario related which was the secret [TS]

00:14:46   gaming of a series of that asking that [TS]

00:14:48   question because when i go to the [TS]

00:14:49   theater to see super mario brothers what [TS]

00:14:51   I want to see is a story about dinosaurs [TS]

00:14:54   evolving any parallel universe and yet [TS]

00:14:56   this is what mr. dan Castellaneta TVs [TS]

00:14:58   homer simpson tells us at the beginning [TS]

00:15:00   of supermarket you know who I really [TS]

00:15:01   feel bad for here is Stephen Jay Gould [TS]

00:15:03   is I i imagine going to the theater in [TS]

00:15:07   1993 very excited that finally mario [TS]

00:15:10   brothers is coming to the big screen [TS]

00:15:12   he says he pays his is six bucks or [TS]

00:15:15   whatever the hell it was in 1993 it goes [TS]

00:15:17   in and his entire life's work is is is [TS]

00:15:21   rendered meaningless in the first 30 [TS]

00:15:23   seconds of the movie I'd like to think [TS]

00:15:24   he was a ColecoVision man myself [TS]

00:15:26   you know it's true ah so we then we get [TS]

00:15:29   20 years ago [TS]

00:15:30   there's a car 20 years ago Brooklyn so [TS]

00:15:32   we've come back from 60 million years [TS]

00:15:34   ago to 20 years ago they were looking [TS]

00:15:36   lady in combat boots drops an ornate [TS]

00:15:38   walk off with some nuns and disappears [TS]

00:15:40   got a man yeah [TS]

00:15:41   yep don't you guys like that there's [TS]

00:15:43   multiple ridiculous scenes before the [TS]

00:15:45   movie actually starts like it's like [TS]

00:15:46   let's have multiple segments that are [TS]

00:15:48   stated there i have it as more of a [TS]

00:15:51   space capsule leaves and there's an egg [TS]

00:15:53   in a space capsule that's left for the [TS]

00:15:55   nuns will initially it looks like a walk [TS]

00:15:57   and then later you the nuns are [TS]

00:15:58   unwrapped actually iron man was a walk [TS]

00:16:00   baby capsule [TS]

00:16:04   also the the open yeah the opening title [TS]

00:16:06   credits you have the opening title it [TS]

00:16:08   titles are showing here they're using [TS]

00:16:10   the law-and-order font i thought that [TS]

00:16:11   was really nice LOL New York Center [TS]

00:16:14   required in the criminal justice system [TS]

00:16:16   there are two equally important parties [TS]

00:16:18   mamalon by these dinosaurs [TS]

00:16:20   yes I wasn't enough permanent dimension [TS]

00:16:23   the other human sue or do others on [TS]

00:16:27   order Cretaceous victims unit so baby [TS]

00:16:31   hatches from the egg in front of some 92 [TS]

00:16:34   who unlike nuns in real life would would [TS]

00:16:37   be screaming it's evil kill it [TS]

00:16:39   the egg the egg hatches it contains a [TS]

00:16:41   baby and the nuns for some reason don't [TS]

00:16:43   immediately stab it with the daggers of [TS]

00:16:45   Megiddo which I've been strongly suspect [TS]

00:16:47   doing and they apparently never [TS]

00:16:48   mentioned to the kid [TS]

00:16:50   oh by the way you came out of an egg yes [TS]

00:16:52   it's my brain that up you don't want you [TS]

00:16:56   don't want to leave a kid with too much [TS]

00:16:58   baggage that's that's a lot to live down [TS]

00:17:00   also the nuns name the baby daisy even [TS]

00:17:03   though they have no idea that that's the [TS]

00:17:04   baby's name but when maybe without my [TS]

00:17:06   written mikanos around the inside of the [TS]

00:17:09   eggshell yes its kind of stories do [TS]

00:17:11   Jason did you mention the fact that the [TS]

00:17:13   dinosaurs have evolved in their parallel [TS]

00:17:15   dimension to take on human like your [TS]

00:17:17   dreams we learned we learned that in the [TS]

00:17:19   DI narration i don't remember i think we [TS]

00:17:23   did though they say they say something [TS]

00:17:24   along the lines of the evolved to become [TS]

00:17:26   vicious and angry just like us [TS]

00:17:29   yeah but they did they don't explain yet [TS]

00:17:31   they evolved into looking exactly like [TS]

00:17:33   us except that they're dinosaurs except [TS]

00:17:35   they love just like humans right well I [TS]

00:17:38   think dennis hopper kind of holds his [TS]

00:17:40   hands like a t-rex a couple of times [TS]

00:17:42   well apparently at least one person in [TS]

00:17:44   the alternate dimension has evolved from [TS]

00:17:45   a fungus [TS]

00:17:46   so why not I had questions about that [TS]

00:17:48   yeah so baby hatches from an egg now we [TS]

00:17:52   cut to brooklyn today John Leguizamo and [TS]

00:17:55   bob hoskins are Luigi and Mario if [TS]

00:17:58   you're going to cast to people as [TS]

00:18:00   Italians the review to that you choose [TS]

00:18:03   right a fat white British fellow and [TS]

00:18:06   Hispanic gentlemen yeah that we all owe [TS]

00:18:09   Jill dolce who's saying what's the [TS]

00:18:12   matter you at the early nineteen [TS]

00:18:13   eighties an apology in that he is no [TS]

00:18:16   longer does [TS]

00:18:17   the most offensive act against the [TS]

00:18:18   Italian people Bob Hoskins is an [TS]

00:18:21   interesting choice but I've learned that [TS]

00:18:23   he does a perfect American accent and [TS]

00:18:26   connect with artificial characters in [TS]

00:18:30   who framed roger rabbit so they'll be [TS]

00:18:31   perfect here [TS]

00:18:32   yeah but plus he's fat and the plumbers [TS]

00:18:34   & and they have they have sort of a [TS]

00:18:38   Mulder and Scully thing going on because [TS]

00:18:40   because luigi is believing all of these [TS]

00:18:42   things and Mario is a skeptic which you [TS]

00:18:45   know never saw that coming [TS]

00:18:47   I will say I actually kind of like the [TS]

00:18:49   way they play off of each other [TS]

00:18:50   yeah it's not the worst a chemistry of [TS]

00:18:53   the world apparently they would go just [TS]

00:18:54   drink drink in between every take Bob [TS]

00:18:57   Hoskins in John Leguizamo and lament [TS]

00:18:59   how-how-how life had given this them [TS]

00:19:02   this bag of rocks i should say in a [TS]

00:19:05   movie in an interview with The Guardian [TS]

00:19:06   shortly before his death of a bob [TS]

00:19:09   hoskins was asked if there was anything [TS]

00:19:14   he regretted from his career and he said [TS]

00:19:16   super mario brothers and what was the [TS]

00:19:18   worst thing you ever did he said super [TS]

00:19:20   mario brothers and he was very clear [TS]

00:19:22   that super mario brothers is by far the [TS]

00:19:24   low point in his entire career and if [TS]

00:19:26   you could go back in time and change one [TS]

00:19:28   thing about your life what would it be [TS]

00:19:30   not doing supermarket super mario [TS]

00:19:32   brothers so he's clearly East he's being [TS]

00:19:34   pretty game about it here [TS]

00:19:36   no yeah i mean he doesn't mail it in [TS]

00:19:38   he's a professional this man he also [TS]

00:19:39   didn't know that this was even based [TS]

00:19:41   apparently didn't know it was based on a [TS]

00:19:43   video game until his what his kid who [TS]

00:19:45   had played the game saw that he was [TS]

00:19:47   doing it and said oh yeah I have that [TS]

00:19:49   games like what many key he recounted [TS]

00:19:52   the plot of the game and he said no I'm [TS]

00:19:54   pretty sure that's not it but yeah he [TS]

00:19:58   and leguizamo work fine together as far [TS]

00:20:00   as duo's in this movie go [TS]

00:20:03   they are by fire through [TS]

00:20:05   shoulders yeah oh yeah i think we'll get [TS]

00:20:07   to those guys [TS]

00:20:08   I suspect we're gonna sell something so [TS]

00:20:11   it's mario brothers even though he's [TS]

00:20:12   Mario and this of course i I've been [TS]

00:20:14   told is Mario cannon that they they are [TS]

00:20:17   indeed Mario Mario and Luigi Mario [TS]

00:20:19   because otherwise how blame is Luigi [TS]

00:20:21   that he's like sure Mario will call it [TS]

00:20:23   mario brothers because you're my brother [TS]

00:20:25   in your name is mario luigi is extremely [TS]

00:20:28   lame we can he is but Mario so so Mario [TS]

00:20:32   is his name and it is also their last [TS]

00:20:33   name i actually thought that was funny i [TS]

00:20:35   will tell you that the desk clerk later [TS]

00:20:38   on is correct to be confused by this but [TS]

00:20:40   they don't really milk it for a comedy [TS]

00:20:43   which I thought was an interesting [TS]

00:20:43   choice [TS]

00:20:44   no wonder what sort of brush it under [TS]

00:20:45   the table and that's why it was funny [TS]

00:20:47   yeah just quickly as you know so you and [TS]

00:20:50   I got your toes David are you [TS]

00:20:52   ya know just here here at this point [TS]

00:20:54   where Luke mario luigi drive around the [TS]

00:20:55   truck that says mario brothers on a [TS]

00:20:57   lifepod poor Luigi never Luigi brother [TS]

00:21:01   is always mario brothers [TS]

00:21:06   time for a short break let me tell you [TS]

00:23:22   thank you so much to canary for showing [TS]

00:23:24   me that my cat is waiting for me to come [TS]

00:23:26   home and for sponsoring the [TS]

00:23:28   uncomfortable [TS]

00:23:32   there's a zany driving sequence at this [TS]

00:23:34   point with some zany new york-style [TS]

00:23:36   almost like 30 rock s kind of cool crazy [TS]

00:23:40   zany New York music we're trying out new [TS]

00:23:42   york you to give me the music in this [TS]

00:23:45   movie is consistently terrible [TS]

00:23:48   ya know and continuous and if you [TS]

00:23:52   imagine the den that the danny elfman [TS]

00:23:54   say many things are happening happening [TS]

00:23:56   that kind of like so without the minor [TS]

00:23:58   chord just like always out of my hand of [TS]

00:24:00   his minor chord yeah it's like Alan they [TS]

00:24:02   got the footage back and said while we [TS]

00:24:04   thought we were making mother I'm here [TS]

00:24:05   looking for each other i find it was a [TS]

00:24:07   non-union conductor lani milkman who did [TS]

00:24:10   the different because there was there's [TS]

00:24:13   the dialogue that's like this at dubbed [TS]

00:24:15   in while they're driving that feels very [TS]

00:24:18   like a detective the fact like we really [TS]

00:24:19   gotta punch punch this off otherwise [TS]

00:24:21   it's just it's just right around the [TS]

00:24:23   world for Cameron dialogue in this film [TS]

00:24:25   that was obviously added after I feel [TS]

00:24:26   like that was added you [TS]

00:24:28   yes they needed to wacky this really [TS]

00:24:30   really fix it really because it was too [TS]

00:24:32   somber before tightening the screws yeah [TS]

00:24:35   it was to church like it was funeral and [TS]

00:24:37   still is really as a nice polish around [TS]

00:24:41   here it's just gonna get they get to the [TS]

00:24:44   job that they're going to and they thus [TS]

00:24:46   capelli truck is already there and in [TS]

00:24:50   one of the many examples of overly [TS]

00:24:53   descriptive dialogue in this film [TS]

00:24:56   Mario gets out of the car and says [TS]

00:24:57   capelli they beat us again another job [TS]

00:25:01   lost that we thank you which is just [TS]

00:25:05   confusing from several perspectives yeah [TS]

00:25:07   first off in addition to being just a [TS]

00:25:10   plumbers truck they're also a giant [TS]

00:25:12   mega-corporations building over there [TS]

00:25:14   that is mafia ask yes um but also how do [TS]

00:25:18   they know where that job as they get [TS]

00:25:19   their the way plumbers are called in New [TS]

00:25:22   York is there's a there's like a party [TS]

00:25:24   line and all the plumbers because the [TS]

00:25:25   rock and whoever gets there first gets [TS]

00:25:27   the job [TS]

00:25:28   look you don't build an empire like the [TS]

00:25:30   scope Ellie's did by turning down little [TS]

00:25:32   chops and I understand our neighbors how [TS]

00:25:35   life works in 1993 Brooklyn but I have [TS]

00:25:37   so much to learn and why was there all [TS]

00:25:39   that confusion about where to go in the [TS]

00:25:41   first place [TS]

00:25:42   don't you guys you live here you have [TS]

00:25:45   van you should have a battle is I [TS]

00:25:46   believe there that was attempting to [TS]

00:25:48   send you a message about Luigi's [TS]

00:25:50   instincts that Mario never wants to [TS]

00:25:53   trust that they then reference later in [TS]

00:25:55   a crappy car chase right totally a [TS]

00:25:57   rarely yet in passing and extreme [TS]

00:25:59   passing it does not resolve the problem [TS]

00:26:02   or coming at the finale at all mr. [TS]

00:26:06   mistress capelli in his best sort of mr. [TS]

00:26:09   big kind of voices like hey I'm I'm a [TS]

00:26:13   very important man and I have important [TS]

00:26:15   questions asking silly a reader from the [TS]

00:26:18   move was behind this is attractive [TS]

00:26:20   practically until slightly different [TS]

00:26:22   he's got he's got a suit is black car [TS]

00:26:25   you have Susan charge and there's this [TS]

00:26:26   College earlier in the construction site [TS]

00:26:28   in charge of the dig at the construction [TS]

00:26:30   site where construction is halted [TS]

00:26:32   because of the discovery of dinosaur [TS]

00:26:34   bone [TS]

00:26:35   my favorite part about this section is [TS]

00:26:37   how much they can talk about dinosaur [TS]

00:26:39   bones without using the word [TS]

00:26:40   paleontology which tells you something [TS]

00:26:42   about like at what level they think the [TS]

00:26:44   audience member he and fossil doesn't [TS]

00:26:46   get you to know that phones chase [TS]

00:26:48   dinosaurs are alone again just another [TS]

00:26:50   people another dagger in the back of [TS]

00:26:52   stephen jay gould city theater that's [TS]

00:26:55   the binary starts shouting at the screen [TS]

00:26:56   fossils they found really good dinosaur [TS]

00:26:59   bones to like an entire skeleton all in [TS]

00:27:02   wait out a brand new DNA sees but in a [TS]

00:27:05   pipe but nobody pipes [TS]

00:27:07   ya know they just wanna just want to [TS]

00:27:09   keep keep on movin keep on moving with [TS]

00:27:11   mr. Biggs project mr. scarpella project [TS]

00:27:14   that's because he's the boss elsewhere [TS]

00:27:15   yet so my note here about mr. Scalli is [TS]

00:27:18   good acting all I've got and actually [TS]

00:27:21   this whole scene because this is this is [TS]

00:27:23   some painful back and forth between mr. [TS]

00:27:25   scibelli and our our our college [TS]

00:27:28   girlfriend Daisy as they threatened by [TS]

00:27:30   summing up the mathis yes I read a [TS]

00:27:32   crackpot theory about mr. scibelli which [TS]

00:27:35   is that he has meant to be donkey kong [TS]

00:27:37   okay and that is that is the crack [TS]

00:27:39   partyís theory I've ever google making [TS]

00:27:41   this film had never heard of Donkey Kong [TS]

00:27:43   Monty they had barely heard a super [TS]

00:27:45   mario your the three defending it [TS]

00:27:48   one Scarpelli hangs out of the [TS]

00:27:50   construction site to talks to the girl [TS]

00:27:55   and 342 [TS]

00:27:58   august heard what monkey into an ape at [TS]

00:28:00   the end and interesting stupid i might I [TS]

00:28:03   recommend it as we go through this if [TS]

00:28:05   there's any character that we can't [TS]

00:28:06   directly map to a video game character [TS]

00:28:08   everybody can choose to give me their [TS]

00:28:10   conspiracy theory of what did you being [TS]

00:28:12   here they really are very the weirdest [TS]

00:28:14   draft yet but just paid that we go at [TS]

00:28:19   this point in my notes I think to myself [TS]

00:28:21   because we're talking i'm looking at bob [TS]

00:28:23   hoskins and they're talking about [TS]

00:28:24   parallel universes and I think to myself [TS]

00:28:25   maybe in a parallel universe who framed [TS]

00:28:28   roger rabbit was this bad [TS]

00:28:30   and that would be what he what he [TS]

00:28:32   regretted for the rest of his life but [TS]

00:28:34   in our universe it is super mario [TS]

00:28:36   brothers [TS]

00:28:37   well maybe if who framed roger rabbit [TS]

00:28:38   had been based on buzzy it would have [TS]

00:28:40   been this bed [TS]

00:28:41   who can say so let's see what happens [TS]

00:28:44   next I got men with men with glass [TS]

00:28:48   yeah the brother bros meet Daisy and [TS]

00:28:50   offer her a ride as i recall and granted [TS]

00:28:53   everyone realize hello from the two [TS]

00:28:54   creepy Italians and they're creepy dark [TS]

00:28:56   van she somehow ends up double dating [TS]

00:28:58   with President the henchmen show up [TS]

00:28:59   around now for yeah yeah that's a very [TS]

00:29:02   strange acting from ago I missed right [TS]

00:29:04   are from from named after characters [TS]

00:29:07   that appear in Super Mario Brothers so [TS]

00:29:09   yes a little what happens is luigi's on [TS]

00:29:11   the phone trying to get a new job I [TS]

00:29:14   Mario in a strange commentary on the [TS]

00:29:17   cross and bottled water for your [TS]

00:29:19   purchase from a bodega and says hey [TS]

00:29:21   everybody's got tap water [TS]

00:29:23   this thing cost three bucks is pretty [TS]

00:29:25   and bone to pick [TS]

00:29:26   stick it to the man Mario Louie Mario's [TS]

00:29:30   a man of the people that's the message [TS]

00:29:31   that so luigi hangs up on each other [TS]

00:29:34   desperate for work but pretty pretty [TS]

00:29:36   girl Daisy needs to use the phone so he [TS]

00:29:39   hangs up on the potential job but hangs [TS]

00:29:41   up on the party line i'm sure scibelli [TS]

00:29:42   with such skill is already there and [TS]

00:29:44   give the phone to Daisy where where we [TS]

00:29:48   and then and then this is this is the [TS]

00:29:50   point where we're in the universal [TS]

00:29:52   shorthand of a socially awkward guy [TS]

00:29:55   who's met a girl that he likes he says [TS]

00:29:58   it's a pleasure to meet me [TS]

00:30:00   I mean you wear my good dialogue very [TS]

00:30:03   good sharp sharp stuff sharp back and [TS]

00:30:05   forth there and he asked her to dinner [TS]

00:30:07   at dinner [TS]

00:30:10   it's going well the date is going pretty [TS]

00:30:11   well cuts [TS]

00:30:12   dude successful dinner date with Luigi [TS]

00:30:14   and it's going so well in fact that as [TS]

00:30:17   often happens on dates on first dates [TS]

00:30:20   there's that moment where one I need to [TS]

00:30:25   fix Steve get ready for it here come up [TS]

00:30:27   with she offers to show him her bones [TS]

00:30:30   well that you have to be shown them [TS]

00:30:31   before you can jump them yes exactly [TS]

00:30:33   exactly i think that's how it works it's [TS]

00:30:34   difficult to jump of not that any [TS]

00:30:36   jumping actually happens in this movie [TS]

00:30:38   about Super Mario Brothers a videogame [TS]

00:30:40   about guys then jump on things that's [TS]

00:30:42   not true there's a there's jumping and [TS]

00:30:44   it's said ice they think the audience is [TS]

00:30:46   gonna lose their my how exciting this [TS]

00:30:49   jump into right-center we'll hit [TS]

00:30:50   supplements will get to the boots but it [TS]

00:30:52   isn't here they do kid that Mario's [TS]

00:30:54   girlfriend and don't worry about that [TS]

00:30:56   and then envy envy you i was an [TS]

00:30:59   embellished she or it was not but is not [TS]

00:31:01   no not at all of it could have been a [TS]

00:31:03   hellish you're in disguise [TS]

00:31:05   mhm tuesday i believe she's using [TS]

00:31:08   elements Lethe she was slightly involved [TS]

00:31:10   p haha so I had the dates going really [TS]

00:31:15   well so much so that they there's a kiss [TS]

00:31:17   attempted over over the bones of the [TS]

00:31:20   dinosaurs because dinosaur bones are [TS]

00:31:22   important [TS]

00:31:23   that's like and friends but something [TS]

00:31:25   very important happens which is Skip [TS]

00:31:28   alley because he's evil has decided to [TS]

00:31:30   to flood the tunnels and use this as a [TS]

00:31:33   way to make the bones and accessible so [TS]

00:31:35   they just have to go on with the [TS]

00:31:37   construction project or something like [TS]

00:31:39   that because so many construction [TS]

00:31:40   projects are done in floods yeah i know [TS]

00:31:43   that there's a lot of things wrong with [TS]

00:31:44   this movie but i was particularly [TS]

00:31:46   offended by that city that the staging [TS]

00:31:51   of that scene where there is both a [TS]

00:31:52   giant tunnel and then there's a room [TS]

00:31:54   with a bunch of bones and then there's a [TS]

00:31:56   room with a bunch of plumbing yes and [TS]

00:31:58   that just doesn't make any sense [TS]

00:32:00   it's like these are things that are [TS]

00:32:01   underground will put the next to do for [TS]

00:32:03   Italy it's great because it leads to [TS]

00:32:04   more like oh no no the water and water [TS]

00:32:07   is coming out and and and we can't stop [TS]

00:32:10   it [TS]

00:32:10   what do we do why this looks like a job [TS]

00:32:12   for a plumber to ever [TS]

00:32:15   it's so lucky they were actually there [TS]

00:32:17   and it's the one job that this capelli [TS]

00:32:19   plumbers are going to take exactly right [TS]

00:32:21   help and Luigi because he's not a very [TS]

00:32:24   good plumber even though the water is [TS]

00:32:25   pouring out he has to go get mario and [TS]

00:32:28   bring him back but we don't hear is that [TS]

00:32:30   somebody had in fact hired spit skips [TS]

00:32:32   capelli in the first place to go down [TS]

00:32:34   there open those pipes and it was yet [TS]

00:32:36   another job that the Mario Brothers yeah [TS]

00:32:38   fail we'll get the guys running down the [TS]

00:32:40   tunnel were wearing scibelli jury yes [TS]

00:32:42   which seemed like yeah it's not a [TS]

00:32:44   perfect craft until you completely [TS]

00:32:47   understands the importance of branding [TS]

00:32:48   guru Brandon yes I i believe in a point [TS]

00:32:51   of order in this movie still favor [TS]

00:32:53   Oh God Luigi points out that he is only [TS]

00:32:57   a plumber's apprentice so if they're if [TS]

00:33:00   there's nothing else this movie has [TS]

00:33:01   respectfully the Union and crafts and [TS]

00:33:05   that's why I oh that's why his upper [TS]

00:33:06   like this bear hasn't earned his [TS]

00:33:08   moustache it also shows the folly of [TS]

00:33:10   koopa who assumes that the apprentice [TS]

00:33:13   plumber is a plumber also Luigi's arc is [TS]

00:33:17   that he grows a plumber throughout the [TS]

00:33:18   movie [TS]

00:33:19   what do you think you'll agree that is [TS]

00:33:21   obvious and they don't have little graph [TS]

00:33:22   tales they were around to show their [TS]

00:33:24   apprentice plumbers [TS]

00:33:25   mhm the only way you can tell us when [TS]

00:33:27   they bend over there is only like a [TS]

00:33:28   quarter of a crime sure I'm sure there's [TS]

00:33:30   a cutscene where Mario pace of mustache [TS]

00:33:32   on Luigi's upper lip and says now you're [TS]

00:33:34   a plumber but there's no cutscene they [TS]

00:33:37   used every second of footage every time [TS]

00:33:42   a bell rings a plumber gets his mustache [TS]

00:33:44   uhhhh [TS]

00:33:45   daisy has taken and they're knocked out [TS]

00:33:47   by the by two bozos and she disappears [TS]

00:33:49   into a rock wall or window is now long [TS]

00:33:52   time and just got started because they [TS]

00:33:54   let us introduce our I want to talk [TS]

00:33:56   about Logan spice those are there from [TS]

00:33:58   an elegy video game [TS]

00:34:00   their names are their names again [TS]

00:34:01   spy-car the gentleman it is played by [TS]

00:34:04   Fisher Stevens sue is doing the finest [TS]

00:34:06   work of his career and spike is the [TS]

00:34:08   awesome parking attendant from Ferris [TS]

00:34:10   Bueller with a very unfortunate haircut [TS]

00:34:13   he's Richard accent he's a hey it's that [TS]

00:34:14   guy he's an onion all bunch of movies he [TS]

00:34:18   was in good morning Vietnam he was in do [TS]

00:34:20   the right thing I believe he was an [TS]

00:34:21   eight men out he's basically whenever [TS]

00:34:24   you need someone who looks very [TS]

00:34:25   unpleasant you cast him [TS]

00:34:28   this is a less dignified role for Fisher [TS]

00:34:30   Stevens than the one he doesn't hackers [TS]

00:34:32   a couple years later and in that when i [TS]

00:34:34   will remind you he has to ride a [TS]

00:34:35   skateboard and call Penn Jillette a [TS]

00:34:38   hapless techno weenie enough these these [TS]

00:34:41   are just super generic wacky incompetent [TS]

00:34:46   henchmen there's two guys exactly like [TS]

00:34:48   them at highlander to another fine music [TS]

00:34:51   yeah in the max headroom TV movie there [TS]

00:34:54   is also a pair of wacky and competent [TS]

00:34:57   henchmen it is a it so even if you think [TS]

00:35:00   there's real serial killers signature [TS]

00:35:01   well maybe there's a bit of continuity [TS]

00:35:03   hear that nobody's ever noticed maybe [TS]

00:35:05   maybe really we're watching a movie [TS]

00:35:07   about these two goofballs may well did [TS]

00:35:09   you stick around after the credits and [TS]

00:35:11   see yes it's super Cooper cousins [TS]

00:35:14   yeah so we know the movie is really [TS]

00:35:15   about them and in fact all of the films [TS]

00:35:18   containing two wacky nondescript [TS]

00:35:20   sidekicks are you saying these [TS]

00:35:22   characters are Rosencrantz and [TS]

00:35:23   Guildenstern is that how you read this [TS]

00:35:24   light that's example so that means [TS]

00:35:27   they're gonna die [TS]

00:35:28   where did ya are used are you serious [TS]

00:35:30   that there is a post-credit sequence [TS]

00:35:32   that I did not understand the area you [TS]

00:35:34   see a new Japanese and financial wow [TS]

00:35:36   this guy is what they again yeah there's [TS]

00:35:39   that you didn't you yeah there is [TS]

00:35:41   totally opposed credit on a stick around [TS]

00:35:42   for the thing after the kroger we can [TS]

00:35:44   describe it to you now you'll never [TS]

00:35:45   watch it [TS]

00:35:46   yes yes thank you you see two Japanese [TS]

00:35:48   gentleman they say we would like to make [TS]

00:35:50   a video game based on your adventures [TS]

00:35:53   and you think they're talking to mario [TS]

00:35:55   and luigi but they're actually talking [TS]

00:35:56   to a key and Spike get it [TS]

00:35:58   no and the answer is potential names for [TS]

00:36:01   their games and they come up with super [TS]

00:36:03   Cooper cousins and that's the big punch [TS]

00:36:05   line that gets people leaving the [TS]

00:36:06   theater with a smile on their face and a [TS]

00:36:08   song in their heart I think they're [TS]

00:36:09   already gone chief a song my rock on [TS]

00:36:12   fire rockets [TS]

00:36:14   that's right to add insult to injury [TS]

00:36:15   yeah that's the first thing we see my [TS]

00:36:17   credits at one point during the movie I [TS]

00:36:18   did turn to my wife and say boy they're [TS]

00:36:20   missing out on not having the was not [TS]

00:36:22   one haha song was instantly good play [TS]

00:36:27   yeah yeah so that that's the we've got [TS]

00:36:30   the credits right so we're done with the [TS]

00:36:32   movie now yeah we're done bye week that [TS]

00:36:33   just going to sort of unusual yeah so [TS]

00:36:37   Daisy gets kidnapped and they cross over [TS]

00:36:38   to dystopian gentlemen [TS]

00:36:40   thank you thank you Tony yes thanks [TS]

00:36:43   thanks for reminding us we have more of [TS]

00:36:44   this movie to go yes your honor well [TS]

00:36:47   across dimensions we are in now Dino [TS]

00:36:51   manhattan which looks a like a wood [TS]

00:36:54   where you know again it's a dark [TS]

00:36:58   weirdest opean mixed up a cityscape i [TS]

00:37:03   get it and sauerkraut not dinosaur e in [TS]

00:37:07   any way that is very enough that's for [TS]

00:37:09   sure there's little dinosaur puppets [TS]

00:37:11   that kind of fighting over some meat [TS]

00:37:14   yes they're like rats yeah dinosaur rats [TS]

00:37:17   and it does feel very max headroom which [TS]

00:37:19   again works works fine in a dystopian [TS]

00:37:21   future kind of story and not maybe so [TS]

00:37:23   much in what is supposed to be what [TS]

00:37:25   would happen in a world where did [TS]

00:37:27   dinosaurs evolved into exactly what [TS]

00:37:29   people are which doesn't make any sense [TS]

00:37:31   stephen jay gould again fuming in the [TS]

00:37:34   balcony [TS]

00:37:34   yes he only goes to theaters with [TS]

00:37:38   balconies he doesn't go to cineplex [TS]

00:37:39   there's a nice scene here where they [TS]

00:37:41   spot Daisy and some of my favorite [TS]

00:37:44   dialogue in the whole movie here which [TS]

00:37:45   is Daisy Luigi Daisy Luigi because then [TS]

00:37:51   I knew who they're with their names were [TS]

00:37:52   so that was nice [TS]

00:37:53   yes see them put the date plumbers [TS]

00:37:56   llamas how we meet king koopa yeah so so [TS]

00:38:00   Dennis Hopper as king koopa by why not [TS]

00:38:03   sure this is how we know for sure if you [TS]

00:38:06   weren't careful if you weren't sure [TS]

00:38:07   before you now know that this is [TS]

00:38:09   absolutely a terrible movie [TS]

00:38:11   help is dennis hopper isn't it yep for [TS]

00:38:13   some reason he hangs around aunt petunia [TS]

00:38:15   dursley not sure why [TS]

00:38:17   yeah certainly not a character in the [TS]

00:38:19   games certainly not a character in this [TS]

00:38:21   movie [TS]

00:38:22   nope not sure why she's like this is [TS]

00:38:24   secretary wants the rock in the princess [TS]

00:38:26   that what he wants is the dimension with [TS]

00:38:29   this rock does this is the rock that [TS]

00:38:31   allows them to go through the different [TS]

00:38:32   image so you hear what happens the asked [TS]

00:38:35   the asteroid sorry the meteor idea when [TS]

00:38:38   he and brilliant and killed Lahey many [TS]

00:38:40   of the dinosaurs but left some alive in [TS]

00:38:42   a parent parallel dimension there is a a [TS]

00:38:45   shard that has come off of it and it [TS]

00:38:47   turns out that dinosaur scientists have [TS]

00:38:50   proven that if you put the shard of the [TS]

00:38:52   of the meteorite [TS]

00:38:54   back in the meteorite a sphere that the [TS]

00:39:00   two parallel dimensions come back [TS]

00:39:02   together into one dimension mm even by [TS]

00:39:05   magic Rock standards i found this [TS]

00:39:07   trouble right now sitting next to [TS]

00:39:08   Stephen Jay Gould in that movie theater [TS]

00:39:10   neil degrasse tyson is just stormed out [TS]

00:39:13   he cannot take anymore [TS]

00:39:15   this is the worst night at the cinema is [TS]

00:39:17   ever going to buy the way as we've been [TS]

00:39:19   introduced to this very max headroom ask [TS]

00:39:22   like land this is the point where I'd I [TS]

00:39:25   turn to IMDb to see if joel schumacher [TS]

00:39:27   was involved in the making of this film [TS]

00:39:29   yeah it's it's it's leather and dripping [TS]

00:39:31   with mucus and that is joel schumacher's [TS]

00:39:33   it's on his business card actually [TS]

00:39:37   that's also described schumacher all so [TS]

00:39:44   uh Dennis Hopper i want to say by the [TS]

00:39:47   way he's got that he his he's got the [TS]

00:39:49   weird like flat stripe haircut thing on [TS]

00:39:54   the top of his head [TS]

00:39:55   I think that's actually supposed to be [TS]

00:39:56   the shape of his head yeah well so my [TS]

00:39:58   point is he's basically like again he's [TS]

00:40:01   basically like Max Headroom he's got max [TS]

00:40:04   headroom head [TS]

00:40:05   yeah most of their dinosaur nests of [TS]

00:40:07   this world is represented in strange [TS]

00:40:09   haircut yeah yeah guess they're supposed [TS]

00:40:12   to be scale which is not realizing [TS]

00:40:14   traditionally when I think dinosaurs and [TS]

00:40:17   but there's a lot of their pads [TS]

00:40:18   yeah you know well that's that's better [TS]

00:40:20   right kind of love that but there's [TS]

00:40:22   there's a lot i don't understand about [TS]

00:40:24   dinosaurs so I'm money [TS]

00:40:25   yeah i mean i had dinosaurs all wrong [TS]

00:40:28   before I saw this movie or escape this [TS]

00:40:29   movie really underscores there was no [TS]

00:40:31   one in Hollywood in the nineteen [TS]

00:40:33   eighties in nineteen nineties who gave [TS]

00:40:35   less efficient than Dennis Hopper ok [TS]

00:40:38   just could not be bothered [TS]

00:40:40   where's Bob Hoskins is actually you know [TS]

00:40:42   he's putting his shoulder into it he may [TS]

00:40:45   be off camera doing doing shots with [TS]

00:40:48   john leguizamo but he's trying dennis [TS]

00:40:50   hopper just cannot be bothered now to do [TS]

00:40:53   anything i like to think this is what's [TS]

00:40:56   in his head during the story of Easy [TS]

00:40:58   Rider [TS]

00:40:59   two years later he made water world so [TS]

00:41:02   we have yeah you have that to look [TS]

00:41:04   forward [TS]

00:41:05   he also has this undesirable task of [TS]

00:41:07   having like the most exposition out of [TS]

00:41:09   everybody in the film to deliver it's [TS]

00:41:11   like oh I have this evil plan and this [TS]

00:41:14   is the reason why you do this evil plan [TS]

00:41:16   and the reason why this evil plan works [TS]

00:41:17   because of this rock and this meteorite [TS]

00:41:19   and I need to explain why don't like the [TS]

00:41:20   city that I live in the desert its [TS]

00:41:22   endless and this globe thing and yeah [TS]

00:41:24   that's why Dennis Hopper mailed it in ya [TS]

00:41:27   is he took one look at the script was [TS]

00:41:29   like nope not worth it [TS]

00:41:30   can you distinguish dennis hopper [TS]

00:41:31   mailing it in from dennis hopper being [TS]

00:41:33   fully engaged because I sure can't [TS]

00:41:35   his performance is very much like [TS]

00:41:38   malcolm mcdowell in a tank girl to me [TS]

00:41:41   yeah so this [TS]

00:41:42   yeah one of one of the things he says [TS]

00:41:44   here is great and it's the plumbers took [TS]

00:41:47   it [TS]

00:41:47   plumber alert which I like because it [TS]

00:41:51   got what it implies that on the alert [TS]

00:41:53   system there is one of the many alerts [TS]

00:41:56   is a plumber alert and a response from [TS]

00:42:00   his functionary when he shouts plumber [TS]

00:42:01   alert as yes sir yes no yes no plumber [TS]

00:42:04   got that members are a real problem in [TS]

00:42:06   alternate universe Dino land i would be [TS]

00:42:08   willing to believe that in this weird [TS]

00:42:10   alternate dinosaur world that can only [TS]

00:42:12   be accessed through it [TS]

00:42:14   rift that is deep underneath Brooklyn [TS]

00:42:16   probably the only people that are [TS]

00:42:18   intruders are plumbers but that is not [TS]

00:42:20   something that they explore the culture [TS]

00:42:21   of dicer Manhattan and that is those are [TS]

00:42:23   there questions left unanswered and I'm [TS]

00:42:25   unfulfilled by that aspect of super [TS]

00:42:27   mario i like the implication that aside [TS]

00:42:30   from these two idiots Iggy and Spike [TS]

00:42:32   everyone else who works for Koopa pretty [TS]

00:42:34   efficient yeah sort of i mean it seems [TS]

00:42:38   like there's issues with loyalty since [TS]

00:42:40   that he has to rely on frenchman later [TS]

00:42:42   that rd evolved and are fiercely loyal [TS]

00:42:44   but not fiercely kind of right so [TS]

00:42:46   there's there's some issues in the right [TS]

00:42:47   also we really only see like three [TS]

00:42:50   people that works for him [TS]

00:42:51   right like there's the same cop again [TS]

00:42:53   and again if you consider like he is the [TS]

00:42:56   desk sergeant and also the cop who talks [TS]

00:42:58   to the guy who's in charge of the whole [TS]

00:43:00   city so like he's he's he's working a [TS]

00:43:03   lot of shifts so well it's also weird [TS]

00:43:06   that a [TS]

00:43:07   with the goombahs and he has the whole [TS]

00:43:10   scene with like they're big and [TS]

00:43:12   threatening and and terrible no powerful [TS]

00:43:16   and all the stuff and then they don't do [TS]

00:43:18   anything in the film [TS]

00:43:19   nothing did you just sort of like [TS]

00:43:20   bumbling shoulder pad things their [TS]

00:43:23   comedic do you don't find him hilarious [TS]

00:43:24   mushrooms that cycle left to our right [TS]

00:43:27   to left and get stopped on that's that's [TS]

00:43:29   goombas although I am a little surprised [TS]

00:43:32   they didn't give the one and only cop [TS]

00:43:33   some sort of Mario cannon name just to [TS]

00:43:36   explain why he was in the film so much [TS]

00:43:38   better Mario cop but he's Donkey Kong [TS]

00:43:41   jr. [TS]

00:43:42   okay thanks good save there are no [TS]

00:43:45   that's that stand up with what I know [TS]

00:43:47   about talking continues officer kaga [TS]

00:43:49   officer Kong one of one of the reasons [TS]

00:43:51   why i can't entirely hate this movie is [TS]

00:43:53   because it enabled me to write at this [TS]

00:43:55   point this note and then a nice grandma [TS]

00:43:58   pokes bob hoskins with a cattle prod [TS]

00:44:00   before being thrown off a bridge by a [TS]

00:44:02   large black woman who takes their rock [TS]

00:44:04   and jumps over a road with her rocket [TS]

00:44:06   boots no other film allowed me to write [TS]

00:44:08   that no only super mario brothers well [TS]

00:44:10   you have not seen Lawrence of Arabia [TS]

00:44:12   then c is based on a video game [TS]

00:44:15   character in name only because he is [TS]

00:44:19   called Big Bertha which is a bad guy [TS]

00:44:20   that is a fish in Mario Brothers well [TS]

00:44:23   she's also a fish here but she looks [TS]

00:44:25   just like a human because that's how it [TS]

00:44:27   works [TS]

00:44:27   she's involved she's yeah she's been [TS]

00:44:29   involved i also i discovered at this [TS]

00:44:32   point that it's not as much of a [TS]

00:44:34   hellscape as we were led to believe [TS]

00:44:35   because this world has its own balladeer [TS]

00:44:38   roaming mojo nixon and yet another [TS]

00:44:41   difference that sort of sorta not really [TS]

00:44:43   about over in dome toad not known for [TS]

00:44:46   his singing chops he's a cute little [TS]

00:44:47   toadstool a yeah we were given a list of [TS]

00:44:51   keywords from super mario brothers [TS]

00:44:53   without kind host i hope he was going to [TS]

00:44:56   get devolved into a toadstool but that [TS]

00:44:58   didn't that would have been impacted and [TS]

00:45:00   I i literally quaked with rage during [TS]

00:45:03   that scene we're gonna skip all [TS]

00:45:04   and they pull it back and he's some sort [TS]

00:45:06   of reptile know he's supposed to be a [TS]

00:45:08   toadstool don't you know Karen and they [TS]

00:45:12   went to the all the trouble of Shaving [TS]

00:45:13   modo Nixon's hair into this weird spiral [TS]

00:45:16   on the top of his head for like three [TS]

00:45:20   seems worth was that just not his thing [TS]

00:45:22   was just hairstyle that week he had odd [TS]

00:45:26   hairstyle but it wasn't that there's [TS]

00:45:29   more than Elvis mahmudur from hell yea [TS]

00:45:31   he does get to see does get to shout the [TS]

00:45:34   king is everywhere as he gets dragged [TS]

00:45:36   yes there is i thought that with [TS]

00:45:37   something like de committed to the [TS]

00:45:39   haircut rather than committing to the [TS]

00:45:41   acting so that that's fine [TS]

00:45:42   you put mojo nixon in the movie you get [TS]

00:45:44   you get mojo nixon and then make him [TS]

00:45:47   carry a lot of the exposition that you [TS]

00:45:49   sell see that was that was that was [TS]

00:45:51   really what i was talking about there [TS]

00:45:52   because that was the on forever to the [TS]

00:45:55   arm dangling down he's like oh well [TS]

00:45:56   don't you know the King we think that [TS]

00:45:58   he's been devolved into a mushroom thats [TS]

00:45:59   everywhere it's like why would he even [TS]

00:46:01   though they all know that they're in [TS]

00:46:03   another dimension that strange too [TS]

00:46:06   yeah this is the point where Mario I [TS]

00:46:07   think asks the cop are we dead and i [TS]

00:46:09   think that is I myself the exact same [TS]

00:46:11   you think that when you need a lot of [TS]

00:46:12   plot explained and dread zeppelin is [TS]

00:46:15   unavailable you get mojo Nixon or garden [TS]

00:46:20   city officials on towards ideas so [TS]

00:46:23   they'd evolve totally turns into a [TS]

00:46:25   goomba what about right before that [TS]

00:46:27   where there's the crazy thing where [TS]

00:46:28   Cooper pretends to be their lawyer for [TS]

00:46:30   about eight seconds and you can fill out [TS]

00:46:32   here comes the police station or like [TS]

00:46:34   exactly he's a jerk and he's like yes he [TS]

00:46:36   is a jerk yeah that's that addition to [TS]

00:46:38   the plot feels completely unnecessary [TS]

00:46:41   and it was offering as opposed to well i [TS]

00:46:45   doing it it was like they decided to [TS]

00:46:47   change it between takes but now we [TS]

00:46:49   already shot if I'm just saying they [TS]

00:46:51   could have caught that the movie could [TS]

00:46:52   have been a little bit shorter and never [TS]

00:46:54   would have been a little bit happy so so [TS]

00:46:56   they but but the security is really bad [TS]

00:46:58   and they actually like kick cupola into [TS]

00:47:00   the de-evolution chair [TS]

00:47:02   although he doesn't get de-evolved but [TS]

00:47:04   he does get to shout stop that plumber [TS]

00:47:06   again that plumbers I just love the [TS]

00:47:11   specificity of that plan because [TS]

00:47:12   everybody knows what a plumber looks [TS]

00:47:13   like you know that plumber the plumber [TS]

00:47:16   over there [TS]

00:47:17   stop him [TS]

00:47:18   we do learn later on that the pipes in [TS]

00:47:20   this world are pretty bad they are they [TS]

00:47:22   are so how do they know about know with [TS]

00:47:24   plumber's what do they know of plumbers [TS]

00:47:26   in this world was the great plumber war [TS]

00:47:29   and that's why they have a plumber alert [TS]

00:47:30   because they got rid of all the [TS]

00:47:32   competent plumbers that could've [TS]

00:47:33   actually fix the tower and the great [TS]

00:47:35   plumber / i would like to read your fan [TS]

00:47:37   fiction Jones movie you're just [TS]

00:47:38   describing is so much more interesting [TS]

00:47:40   than the movie we want a great plumber [TS]

00:47:43   war that's the Super Mario Brothers [TS]

00:47:45   pretty cool [TS]

00:47:46   you see the novelization has all sorts [TS]

00:47:48   of backstory that is in the movie i'm [TS]

00:47:49   sure dan o'bannon wins again this is the [TS]

00:47:54   point where i have in my notes the [TS]

00:47:55   screenplay feels as if it was translated [TS]

00:47:57   into some other language and then back [TS]

00:47:59   into it i mean because they temporarily [TS]

00:48:01   to be the bad guy by shoving him and [TS]

00:48:03   then running a play [TS]

00:48:05   well no this is the word they say don't [TS]

00:48:07   appear to be words that would be said by [TS]

00:48:08   humans in normal that's just leguizamo [TS]

00:48:12   second style well there's another wacky [TS]

00:48:16   car chase I know at this point that the [TS]

00:48:17   mute the music in this film is bad and [TS]

00:48:20   not related in any way to the game this [TS]

00:48:21   would be a perfect time to have video [TS]

00:48:23   game themes being reused but I it's not [TS]

00:48:28   related to the game or indeed as my [TS]

00:48:30   notes continue is anything else i will [TS]

00:48:32   point out before the car chase there is [TS]

00:48:34   the thing where the fungus is trying to [TS]

00:48:35   help them but they're not picking up on [TS]

00:48:37   it and that the fungus will have to do [TS]

00:48:39   that about four more times because and [TS]

00:48:40   well the car plunges but it but they're [TS]

00:48:42   saved but even before that before they [TS]

00:48:44   get in the car that the fungus is trying [TS]

00:48:46   to give them the banana bomb yeah [TS]

00:48:48   check-offs bomb that went back later [TS]

00:48:50   right there will be a mom later during [TS]

00:48:52   the police car chase Mario shouts yeah [TS]

00:48:55   hey this is driving though that was that [TS]

00:48:58   was delicious by planting back yeah this [TS]

00:49:00   is Padres yeah you are dancing really [TS]

00:49:01   brought it all hope you haven't just to [TS]

00:49:03   go back to that music for a second [TS]

00:49:04   because it's so bad in the Action 7 so [TS]

00:49:07   generic and terrible and it's alan [TS]

00:49:08   silvestri doing this so it's even more [TS]

00:49:10   disappointing well maybe it's Alan [TS]

00:49:12   Silvestri's like interns right [TS]

00:49:15   de farm this out and I don't have any [TS]

00:49:19   proof i'm just saying you know did he [TS]

00:49:22   put his best effort into this because [TS]

00:49:23   it's bad [TS]

00:49:24   oh it's very bad i stopped at plumber [TS]

00:49:28   let's see uh this is the fungus saves [TS]

00:49:31   the car forming a sort of fungus bungee [TS]

00:49:33   cord is there are no no this isn't where [TS]

00:49:35   Luigi's driving skills come into play [TS]

00:49:37   know that this is all Mario that drives [TS]

00:49:39   into the fungus but Luigi does tell him [TS]

00:49:41   to go the wrong way on purpose because [TS]

00:49:43   he knows that he will then go the right [TS]

00:49:45   way he's dressed as a priest I was [TS]

00:49:48   answering emails so this is that would [TS]

00:49:52   have hit a lot harder if we get been [TS]

00:49:54   given some sense of the difference [TS]

00:49:55   between the bridge and the tunnel and [TS]

00:49:57   why the tunnel was better and the bridge [TS]

00:50:00   was worse [TS]

00:50:01   yeah so we can we also get to see the [TS]

00:50:04   two are too crazy killers who are going [TS]

00:50:08   to be visiting with the koopa at this [TS]

00:50:11   point i might my note was that they they [TS]

00:50:13   sound there they the dialogue is shouted [TS]

00:50:17   as if they are dubbing themselves that's [TS]

00:50:22   how it felt like to me is they were just [TS]

00:50:24   performing their own dough overdubs on [TS]

00:50:26   the stoop on the set because it's all [TS]

00:50:28   really loud and shouted for no apparent [TS]

00:50:30   reason [TS]

00:50:31   but it doesn't matter because they are [TS]

00:50:32   evolved they are evolved into [TS]

00:50:35   intelligent as evidenced by them doing [TS]

00:50:39   masked very quickly and and writing [TS]

00:50:41   using big words always the bandwagon [TS]

00:50:44   the math is wrong yeah it's the [TS]

00:50:47   Scarecrow effect [TS]

00:50:48   yeah but and then also later on when [TS]

00:50:50   they go to actually drive a car and they [TS]

00:50:52   can't do that yet it the whole involving [TS]

00:50:54   thing they seem to forgot to incorporate [TS]

00:50:56   that into the performance because they [TS]

00:50:57   get chatty and um really quick [TS]

00:51:00   there's only so far you can evolve [TS]

00:51:01   Fisher Stevens is it was just like bad [TS]

00:51:05   sticky stuff from Warner Brothers [TS]

00:51:07   cartoons alter this [TS]

00:51:09   oh yeah that the most painful seems [TS]

00:51:11   maybe when they are on the screen we [TS]

00:51:13   also get the a lot of anti mammal [TS]

00:51:15   propaganda at this point which I find [TS]

00:51:16   strange effect on you i will I fight [TS]

00:51:19   well yes as a mammal I'd i am offended [TS]

00:51:20   by but what is again it points out [TS]

00:51:22   that's just your mammal perfectly i need [TS]

00:51:26   to check my mammalian privilege at the [TS]

00:51:27   door I get it but [TS]

00:51:29   follow me here over emphasizing that [TS]

00:51:32   some of these human beings who are just [TS]

00:51:34   standing there like people are dinosaurs [TS]

00:51:36   and some of these human beings that are [TS]

00:51:38   standing here as people are are are [TS]

00:51:40   mammals in the script seems like a [TS]

00:51:43   mistake when your characters all look [TS]

00:51:46   exactly the same and yet that is that [TS]

00:51:48   happens a lot of money on makeup it does [TS]

00:51:50   we'll just take that stuff out mammals [TS]

00:51:52   even involved in this alternate universe [TS]

00:51:54   I don't think they exist i think harper [TS]

00:51:55   has met his first pair of mammals here i [TS]

00:51:58   was very confused by that because there [TS]

00:52:00   is the part where he says he was going [TS]

00:52:01   to devolve all the mammals and it was [TS]

00:52:02   like who does that mean right means the [TS]

00:52:04   ones in the in our universe [TS]

00:52:06   he's going to come to our universe and [TS]

00:52:08   evolve them i was unclear by the end of [TS]

00:52:10   the movie is Daisy evolved from a [TS]

00:52:12   dinosaur or from fungus and I feel like [TS]

00:52:14   I should know the answer to that [TS]

00:52:15   question [TS]

00:52:16   she's the daughter of a fungus and [TS]

00:52:17   dinosaur this is also equal to Planet of [TS]

00:52:20   the Apes because what happens is they [TS]

00:52:22   devolve everybody on earth into Apes and [TS]

00:52:26   that's your planet of the apes right [TS]

00:52:27   there hmm what weren't mammals one of [TS]

00:52:29   the pizza options [TS]

00:52:31   yeah yeah yeah yeahs told you have to [TS]

00:52:34   hold the mammals oh yeah forgot about [TS]

00:52:35   the wacky ordering pizza with funny [TS]

00:52:37   things that's like that was we had a [TS]

00:52:39   leftover joke after making ninja turtles [TS]

00:52:41   so that sets up a couple of jokes later [TS]

00:52:43   that don't happen [TS]

00:52:44   I was offended by the mammal bashing but [TS]

00:52:47   I remember this movie was made by [TS]

00:52:48   mammals and now I hate all of selfish ok [TS]

00:52:53   baby babbles yeah that's the shame of it [TS]

00:52:55   all anyway they're frustrated the [TS]

00:52:57   there's a weird scene with the with days [TS]

00:53:00   ago but I thought I we're seeing you say [TS]

00:53:02   yeah yeah but then then our friends our [TS]

00:53:05   friends the dum-dum duo i get to want to [TS]

00:53:09   give a shout club sorry [TS]

00:53:13   plumbers why did they have king koopa [TS]

00:53:15   bathing in mud [TS]

00:53:17   oh because it this is so clean and sober [TS]

00:53:20   d at the same time because this is a [TS]

00:53:22   wacky bizarro world were always this [TS]

00:53:23   morning for it [TS]

00:53:25   who is this for who is that scene or [TS]

00:53:28   well he was soaking his hand like some [TS]

00:53:30   instant mud at the beginning I assumed [TS]

00:53:32   that was like he was afraid of fungus [TS]

00:53:33   because that was a thing that they [TS]

00:53:34   briefly established and then abandoned [TS]

00:53:36   was that like he's terrified of fungus [TS]

00:53:38   like that is something for about like a [TS]

00:53:40   banana [TS]

00:53:40   I see himself first and that everyone is [TS]

00:53:42   sanitizing and they're like spraying [TS]

00:53:43   everything with Dee fungus stuff that's [TS]

00:53:45   Dino Purell Tony they then never come [TS]

00:53:48   back to that and that is not that does [TS]

00:53:49   not carry forward and then there's turns [TS]

00:53:51   out there's fungus everywhere but would [TS]

00:53:52   you have come back to that I I feel like [TS]

00:53:54   they should have made some choices [TS]

00:53:57   yeah so the they steal a truck with the [TS]

00:54:00   help of a plunger because if there's [TS]

00:54:02   anything that's a professional plumbing [TS]

00:54:04   tool it is a plunger that America were [TS]

00:54:07   here I feel like she would tie this into [TS]

00:54:09   Daleks in some way ya sure hmmm maybe so [TS]

00:54:12   I just I again I think professional [TS]

00:54:14   plumbers probably do not carry around [TS]

00:54:16   plungers that seems more of an amateur [TS]

00:54:18   tool [TS]

00:54:18   well what I really like is he assembles [TS]

00:54:21   the plunger yeah from from little parts [TS]

00:54:23   inside of his tool belt yeah that's like [TS]

00:54:25   a soldier assembling the disassembling [TS]

00:54:27   and reassembling his weapon on you know [TS]

00:54:29   with it on a blindfolded right who the [TS]

00:54:32   duality of plumbing [TS]

00:54:33   yeah yeah let's start to feel figure [TS]

00:54:35   field strip the plunger no mario has [TS]

00:54:38   mario mario who Mario Mario yeah i'm [TS]

00:54:41   sorry is this plunger Lucille and sleeps [TS]

00:54:44   with a night down dad goes around the [TS]

00:54:46   tree line yeah so so they they put on [TS]

00:54:48   bright suits and go to a bizarre dance [TS]

00:54:50   club I was really disappointed that the [TS]

00:54:52   bright suits were not reading Green you [TS]

00:54:55   have any flavor this one I know we get [TS]

00:54:57   them later but like no that was nonsense [TS]

00:54:59   i looked up from my emails which I was [TS]

00:55:01   very much into this point and i said why [TS]

00:55:04   why the hell is Luigi wearing the red [TS]

00:55:07   jungler know and Mario was dressed in [TS]

00:55:10   yellow this is this is stupid [TS]

00:55:12   also and this this this may be contented [TS]

00:55:15   statement i found the scene where Mario [TS]

00:55:17   dances with / seduces Big Bertha to get [TS]

00:55:19   the stone back to be the most unsettling [TS]

00:55:21   scene in the working it wasn't it was [TS]

00:55:23   like watching condiments dance Big [TS]

00:55:26   Bertha motivations are very random by [TS]

00:55:28   yes completely seduced here and he [TS]

00:55:31   punches she punches him in the face and [TS]

00:55:33   then he goes back and ask for more [TS]

00:55:35   punches at which please [TS]

00:55:36   she is complicated we all know she's [TS]

00:55:38   supposed to be the bouncer in this place [TS]

00:55:40   yeah but you're not balancing they [TS]

00:55:42   should really they should be bouncing [TS]

00:55:43   about that you got to admit they should [TS]

00:55:45   have made the movie about her that would [TS]

00:55:47   have been a movie yeah you know it giant [TS]

00:55:49   evolved fish are there they're [TS]

00:55:50   complicated you know [TS]

00:55:51   we're getting an awful lot of thought to [TS]

00:55:53   a scene which can basically be boiled [TS]

00:55:56   down to the directors going let's have [TS]

00:55:57   two fat people dance [TS]

00:55:59   that'll be fun there are cars crashing [TS]

00:56:01   down below for no apparent reason [TS]

00:56:03   mom and there's a Wanted sign in this [TS]

00:56:05   scene that says and i quote wanted [TS]

00:56:07   plumbers because again what more do you [TS]

00:56:11   need to say well I mean update did have [TS]

00:56:14   two photos bears [TS]

00:56:16   yeah but this just to show these are the [TS]

00:56:18   plumbers their wanted remember the gag [TS]

00:56:20   before where looked like they were going [TS]

00:56:21   to get shot and they just have their [TS]

00:56:22   photos taken that reminds you that [TS]

00:56:23   hilarious that was there was really good [TS]

00:56:25   i remember that so finally from the [TS]

00:56:27   video game to yes lots of lots of [TS]

00:56:30   photography the police lineup seen in [TS]

00:56:31   yeah first mario brothers we learned [TS]

00:56:34   that no woman can resist the charm of a [TS]

00:56:36   mario which is something i was unaware [TS]

00:56:37   of from the the video game can do this [TS]

00:56:40   is where we get we get the was not was [TS]

00:56:42   is walk the dinosaur [TS]

00:56:43   that's the sailors foretold i think the [TS]

00:56:47   most disturbing thing in this disturbing [TS]

00:56:49   scene is when is when big was it big [TS]

00:56:51   bertha yep but yourselves him dance with [TS]

00:56:55   me i'll hit you all you like [TS]

00:56:57   yep who may know what who is this movie [TS]

00:56:59   for yeah I want to know [TS]

00:57:01   yeah well it's for the kids but you [TS]

00:57:03   gotta put something for the grown-ups [TS]

00:57:04   little something for daddy how can i [TS]

00:57:07   think i think this movie is only for [TS]

00:57:08   these two directors and applause I but [TS]

00:57:14   she has she has jumping boots [TS]

00:57:17   yeah but before that they do there they [TS]

00:57:19   have their strategy for how they're [TS]

00:57:20   going to get the stone out of the [TS]

00:57:21   nightclub which involves throwing it [TS]

00:57:23   back and forth until one of them is no [TS]

00:57:25   longer carrying it at which point they [TS]

00:57:27   just leave and it would have been easier [TS]

00:57:28   if they'd just not throwing the stone [TS]

00:57:30   and love to create this stuff but [TS]

00:57:32   initially with the floor covered with [TS]

00:57:35   great yeah yeah yeah great idea [TS]

00:57:37   Mario great idea the movie really thinks [TS]

00:57:41   that we're super-excited about them [TS]

00:57:43   awkwardly jumping like 40 feet or [TS]

00:57:46   whatever it was that i feel like it's [TS]

00:57:48   shot and composed and so that we're [TS]

00:57:51   gonna jump out of our seats like the [TS]

00:57:53   Millennium Falcon going into hyperspace [TS]

00:57:55   this is here you thrust your finger up [TS]

00:57:57   into the air this is where the comic-con [TS]

00:57:59   audience burst into applause this is [TS]

00:58:01   this is the greatest most every moment [TS]

00:58:04   in the movie [TS]

00:58:04   he has been building up to this when [TS]

00:58:06   they go up into the air at last they [TS]

00:58:08   jump hydrate I gradually jump but they [TS]

00:58:11   never jump onto the head of any any [TS]

00:58:13   being no they don't [TS]

00:58:15   which I find where politics was there [TS]

00:58:17   any jumping previously movies [TS]

00:58:19   was this the landmark this is after the [TS]

00:58:23   movie white men can't jump right so [TS]

00:58:24   really there's a lot that they have to [TS]

00:58:26   like unwind to like prove that this is [TS]

00:58:27   possible that he and jump [TS]

00:58:29   yeah so what one of one of Steve's [TS]

00:58:31   favorite lines stop fiddling with the [TS]

00:58:33   fungus all I had that marked for a for a [TS]

00:58:36   closing line [TS]

00:58:37   oh well you can still use it and let's [TS]

00:58:39   get out of here [TS]

00:58:40   there's also over here pudgy buns in [TS]

00:58:42   this scene which is a very solid and we [TS]

00:58:45   learned that there's a throne and made [TS]

00:58:47   over the throne is a giant blob of [TS]

00:58:49   fungus coo [TS]

00:58:50   perhaps it is the King fungus dad i [TS]

00:58:53   refer to it sir since we've only heard [TS]

00:58:55   that the king is the fungus like five [TS]

00:58:57   times the movie so far and then Koopa [TS]

00:59:00   goes to talk to it for no real reason at [TS]

00:59:01   all [TS]

00:59:02   and isn't it nice that he maintains it [TS]

00:59:03   in the throne room even though he's [TS]

00:59:05   deposed the king he allows the fungus to [TS]

00:59:07   remain hovering over the throne because [TS]

00:59:08   it's in front of energy singles over it [TS]

00:59:11   and rips good as we know there's also [TS]

00:59:13   there's a lot of unanswered questions [TS]

00:59:14   about the governance of Dino Manhattan [TS]

00:59:16   but it's raining and i'm running he has [TS]

00:59:19   on his propaganda posters like he's [TS]

00:59:21   running an election despite the fact [TS]

00:59:22   that he appears to be like the corporate [TS]

00:59:24   despots so yeah so he's running [TS]

00:59:26   unopposed but you still have to go [TS]

00:59:28   through the motions but you still have [TS]

00:59:30   to put up posters [TS]

00:59:31   yes sure you know you don't want to un [TS]

00:59:34   monitors coming through dimension and [TS]

00:59:37   like causing a fuss jimmy carter [TS]

00:59:39   suddenly appears and no man [TS]

00:59:41   oh we forgive me for not going to fill [TS]

00:59:44   with my questions about being corrupt [TS]

00:59:45   dinosaur despotic that was a mistake on [TS]

00:59:47   my part [TS]

00:59:48   mistake number one Tony first you [TS]

00:59:50   collect lots of campaign donations then [TS]

00:59:52   you have to put up a few posters to make [TS]

00:59:53   it look like you actually spend your [TS]

00:59:54   money [TS]

00:59:55   yeah when you pocket the rest the FEC in [TS]

00:59:57   dinoworld is very [TS]

00:59:57   dinoworld is very [TS]

01:00:00   stringent so you really have to fill out [TS]

01:00:03   that paperwork about your campaign [TS]

01:00:05   contributions now and now we get to the [TS]

01:00:06   most important scene in the film [TS]

01:00:08   foretold uh earlier by by a couple of [TS]

01:00:10   you this is the phone the scene at which [TS]

01:00:12   King Koopa orders a pizza via videophone [TS]

01:00:16   the orders his own pizza the koopa [TS]

01:00:19   special but directs the direct the pizza [TS]

01:00:22   boy to hold the mammal yes which I I'm [TS]

01:00:25   saying it's not the Cooper special [TS]

01:00:27   without the mammal which I yeah I don't [TS]

01:00:29   think what's the point of having a pizza [TS]

01:00:31   named after yourself if you have to have [TS]

01:00:33   additional instructions [TS]

01:00:34   yeah bc send a different mood that you [TS]

01:00:37   know she gets the mammal but he didn't [TS]

01:00:38   want to because the mammals are causing [TS]

01:00:39   him trouble social order is doing upset [TS]

01:00:42   us sir it is it is extremely difficult [TS]

01:00:44   to pass mammal when you're a dinosaur [TS]

01:00:46   yeah it's a plumbing thing for an evil [TS]

01:00:48   dictator I thought he was pretty polite [TS]

01:00:50   to the pizza guy [TS]

01:00:51   yeah yeah although i do i do like [TS]

01:00:53   nobody's gonna know it's you sir [TS]

01:00:55   hey Cooper how you doing alright I'll do [TS]

01:00:57   whatever you want there you know even in [TS]

01:00:59   even in a a in a dystopian future you do [TS]

01:01:05   have to have a good service economy [TS]

01:01:07   yeah yeah and i liked the video phone [TS]

01:01:09   technology that was pretty sweet what [TS]

01:01:11   you need to operate with a laser gun [TS]

01:01:13   well that's the remote control is in the [TS]

01:01:15   shape of a laser and why that's not in [TS]

01:01:17   the shape of the Nintendo zapper i will [TS]

01:01:20   never have no so we we have a scene [TS]

01:01:24   where there are a bunch of pipes and [TS]

01:01:26   junk and stuff and the line is look at [TS]

01:01:29   this it's a plumber's nightmare i [TS]

01:01:31   actually really like this scene because [TS]

01:01:34   so many of these crappy action movies [TS]

01:01:36   have a seam set in what appears to be an [TS]

01:01:38   abandoned steam factor huh [TS]

01:01:40   we're just pipes everywhere meeting [TS]

01:01:42   steam for no reason and 41 earth [TS]

01:01:45   yeah but for once we act as numbers part [TS]

01:01:47   about his pirates okay for once we have [TS]

01:01:50   actual plumbers who look prego [TS]

01:01:52   wow this place is really sloppily [TS]

01:01:53   organized although my my thought here is [TS]

01:01:56   that these people wrote this movie don't [TS]

01:01:57   actually know what plumbers do [TS]

01:01:59   yeah i mean still yes they are looking [TS]

01:02:02   at the steam factory and saying this [TS]

01:02:03   look at this place [TS]

01:02:04   it is it is all out of shape and and [TS]

01:02:06   this and this is where we get them in a [TS]

01:02:08   little colored outfit they get their [TS]

01:02:09   jumpsuits and then finally yes we're [TS]

01:02:11   supposed to cheer at this point again [TS]

01:02:12   yeah also I think at this point there's [TS]

01:02:14   to be wild discontinuity between whether [TS]

01:02:17   they have the jump boots on or don't ya [TS]

01:02:20   yeah but this is like in Popeye where he [TS]

01:02:22   finally eat the spinach it's exactly [TS]

01:02:25   like Popeye in that both movies are [TS]

01:02:27   terrible [TS]

01:02:27   how dare you the yellow and red was [TS]

01:02:32   supposed to instill cognitive dissonance [TS]

01:02:33   in the universe we look at things i [TS]

01:02:35   think that's what's wrong and then when [TS]

01:02:37   they turn up in red and green with like [TS]

01:02:38   colors are right now they're screwing [TS]

01:02:41   with us before an orderly the rest of [TS]

01:02:43   the movie had introduced cognitive out [TS]

01:02:45   what's the word for a coma and has not [TS]

01:02:48   contacted Lena Lena and koopa have a [TS]

01:02:51   scene and then she goes to Daisy Daisy [TS]

01:02:54   is being fed by a goomba that is sweet [TS]

01:02:56   on her i think it's towed [TS]

01:02:58   yes oh yes Monica he's a 12 setting for [TS]

01:03:01   she's being fed raw meat which heard her [TS]

01:03:04   dinosaur friend yoshi is interested in [TS]

01:03:07   get it kids [TS]

01:03:08   references that maybe only 50 years ago [TS]

01:03:09   you loved that guy remember how is [TS]

01:03:12   cartoony and adorable but here is just a [TS]

01:03:13   scary monster he's kind of shaped like [TS]

01:03:16   Yoshi though like yeah [TS]

01:03:18   excessive heat he gets stabbed in that [TS]

01:03:20   scene i found that he doesn't settling [TS]

01:03:22   here again for Stannis hopper kicks [TS]

01:03:23   Yoshi and then she stabs him you don't [TS]

01:03:26   want to stab a little harmless done his [TS]

01:03:28   head turned them into something now [TS]

01:03:30   you're right Yoshi ride with him or [TS]

01:03:32   something but he uses his tongue to pull [TS]

01:03:35   you know [TS]

01:03:36   yeah reference knowledge Mario Brothers [TS]

01:03:38   film and then and then and then Daisy [TS]

01:03:41   runs away and finds actually the the [TS]

01:03:45   toad goomba has brought her vegetables [TS]

01:03:48   because she says she's a vegetarian and [TS]

01:03:50   candy raw meat but she probably can [TS]

01:03:52   write like she's actually you might be a [TS]

01:03:56   dinosaur she might she might be a [TS]

01:03:59   dinosaur [TS]

01:04:00   well they're vegetarian what she is but [TS]

01:04:02   she doesn't know it because dinosaurs [TS]

01:04:03   and humans are exactly the same right [TS]

01:04:06   unless you dissolve them so what what [TS]

01:04:10   exactly was that steak made of then that [TS]

01:04:14   her yesterday probably like a light of [TS]

01:04:16   livestock and mm you know it's a [TS]

01:04:18   madhouse [TS]

01:04:19   I was about your account yeah but it [TS]

01:04:21   sort of looked like it looked like [TS]

01:04:22   chicken cutlets to me but where do they [TS]

01:04:25   get every day [TS]

01:04:26   raise their farm fresh produce because [TS]

01:04:28   w/o city and I saw that the desert [TS]

01:04:31   I like also that he had the globe that [TS]

01:04:34   have the city and then the desert is [TS]

01:04:35   like why would you make a global like [TS]

01:04:38   it's just your city and then everything [TS]

01:04:40   around it is bad [TS]

01:04:41   like you don't need a global computer [TS]

01:04:43   well you don't need a globe because he [TS]

01:04:46   was a globe damn it i guess i feel like [TS]

01:04:48   it's like a 3d representation of your [TS]

01:04:49   world is not a meaningful navigational [TS]

01:04:51   instrument [TS]

01:04:52   let's see they do they play this is the [TS]

01:04:54   point part where they play somewhere my [TS]

01:04:56   love and the goombas all go into trance [TS]

01:04:59   and begin to dance while the mario and [TS]

01:05:01   luigi climb through the ceiling of the [TS]

01:05:02   elevator because everybody likes to [TS]

01:05:04   dance [TS]

01:05:05   I think that maybe the best seen in the [TS]

01:05:06   entire movie really listen to the words [TS]

01:05:09   coming out of your mouth [TS]

01:05:11   I retract my statement about how most of [TS]

01:05:13   the employees of Koopas organization are [TS]

01:05:15   competent together I retract my [TS]

01:05:17   statement about how my standards are [TS]

01:05:18   lower than everybody else [TS]

01:05:20   I felt like that scene was just weird [TS]

01:05:23   and bizarre and it's still nonsensical [TS]

01:05:25   also its kind of unnecessary because [TS]

01:05:27   they just escaped through the hatch it [TS]

01:05:28   didn't really seem like they need weed [TS]

01:05:29   and say we have to get that their [TS]

01:05:31   transpired for later [TS]

01:05:33   let's have a bunch of dinosaurs dance [TS]

01:05:35   and that will be weird and they're in [TS]

01:05:36   they're like giant trench coats and [TS]

01:05:38   looking weird and dancing with each [TS]

01:05:39   other in and I don't know I thought that [TS]

01:05:42   was like that was not only eraserhead [TS]

01:05:44   vibe battles that setting up the [TS]

01:05:46   hilarious call back later that he'll [TS]

01:05:48   imaginative a way no other seen in the [TS]

01:05:50   entire 8027 fire at this point by the [TS]

01:05:54   way [TS]

01:05:55   oh well he and his harmonica but Daisy [TS]

01:05:58   goes and gets a fire extinguisher and [TS]

01:06:00   right out and puts puts him out because [TS]

01:06:02   he was nice to her [TS]

01:06:04   I Daisy is presented to her fungus dead [TS]

01:06:06   fungus dad [TS]

01:06:08   yo she didn't die from being stabbed but [TS]

01:06:11   we also have that big reveal of Fisher [TS]

01:06:13   Stevens saying oh yeah we were actually [TS]

01:06:15   your father's most loyal supporters [TS]

01:06:16   that's why we've been involved in this [TS]

01:06:18   kidnapping thing to the whole movie [TS]

01:06:20   oh yeah yeah yeah but they were super [TS]

01:06:22   done before so what does that tell you [TS]

01:06:24   about fungus dad's rule [TS]

01:06:25   yeah maybe it's all just a con that's [TS]

01:06:28   probably why everything falls apart at [TS]

01:06:30   the end maybe they were accidentally [TS]

01:06:31   devolved guys if you watch it again [TS]

01:06:33   you'll see all the clothes in there your [TS]

01:06:35   loyal retainers among [TS]

01:06:37   it's in there you gotta read between the [TS]

01:06:40   locking I find her reaction to the fact [TS]

01:06:42   that fungus dad is a fungus dad to be a [TS]

01:06:45   little bit off the mark [TS]

01:06:47   how do you feel that seems to have gone [TS]

01:06:49   I I feel like maybe she might have been [TS]

01:06:51   a little disturbed that her dad was a [TS]

01:06:53   fungus that was drooling and dripping [TS]

01:06:55   from the ceiling [TS]

01:06:56   that's 11 taking she's sort of bored by [TS]

01:07:00   the whole thing was she is but she heard [TS]

01:07:02   it explained so many times at this point [TS]

01:07:04   the hell yeah it's probably okay with it [TS]

01:07:05   I feel like she's trying even less than [TS]

01:07:07   Dennis Hopper like dancing makes no [TS]

01:07:10   impression on me Daisy use a plastic gun [TS]

01:07:13   to control her computer again especially [TS]

01:07:16   user interfaces they use the plastic [TS]

01:07:17   guns again not the Nintendo zapper know [TS]

01:07:20   then we get a great moment where Mario [TS]

01:07:23   Luigi run through a giant pipe and I [TS]

01:07:24   wrote down look it's just like the video [TS]

01:07:26   game and there are mushrooms good god [TS]

01:07:28   why didn't we see any of this earlier it [TS]

01:07:30   there they run through a pipe there are [TS]

01:07:33   mushrooms suddenly it's the video game [TS]

01:07:35   we love right they've got their colors [TS]

01:07:37   on this is it we've made it people that [TS]

01:07:40   what that was a really low bar to clear [TS]

01:07:42   it was it big big player your Chinese [TS]

01:07:46   coins there's once there's one scene 80 [TS]

01:07:49   minutes in where briefly it resembles [TS]

01:07:51   things from a video game room and that's [TS]

01:07:54   it [TS]

01:07:55   now we move back to the good way we [TS]

01:07:58   visit the Goomba barracks Daniela's and [TS]

01:08:00   Cooper barracks with the other girls [TS]

01:08:01   from Brooklyn there's a sequence here [TS]

01:08:03   where Cooper yells muster the google [TS]

01:08:05   bars which I really enjoyed he catches [TS]

01:08:09   Daisy and Luigi send the troops to earth [TS]

01:08:11   4d evolution and then turns and says [TS]

01:08:14   where's my pizza [TS]

01:08:16   oh that pizza guys going to get it [TS]

01:08:20   I feel like the pizza art was really too [TS]

01:08:22   compressed to make much of an impact [TS]

01:08:24   that is not a good that that line does [TS]

01:08:27   not pay off [TS]

01:08:28   well it does pay off because later on he [TS]

01:08:30   gets a call guy saying your pizza's here [TS]

01:08:32   well that in fact that happens right [TS]

01:08:33   after the we get the totally extreme [TS]

01:08:35   guitar song as they slide through the [TS]

01:08:36   ice to that's my least favorite scene in [TS]

01:08:39   the movie see there's your ice level [TS]

01:08:41   that you would get in the tube that tube [TS]

01:08:44   leads to right outside where all the bad [TS]

01:08:46   guys are so you can fall on top of [TS]

01:08:47   another note i was happy to make here [TS]

01:08:50   then a bunch of Brooklyn broads write a [TS]

01:08:52   mattress down the inside of a frozen [TS]

01:08:54   pipe while one huge man with the tiny [TS]

01:08:56   lizard head right another huge man with [TS]

01:08:58   the tiny lizard head like a sled [TS]

01:08:59   ya know I movie know what we can write [TS]

01:09:02   that no at which point dennis hopper [TS]

01:09:04   gets the call sir your pizza's here [TS]

01:09:08   boom but and hilarity [TS]

01:09:11   yeah you're right Monty that you we [TS]

01:09:12   should've stretched out a little bit [TS]

01:09:13   longer i would like to have seen him [TS]

01:09:15   call back to the delivery kid the kid at [TS]

01:09:18   the people that have been your after the [TS]

01:09:20   credits sequence [TS]

01:09:21   yeah it going hello my salary [TS]

01:09:26   what did you got the order wrong [TS]

01:09:28   wouldn't have been hilarious we could [TS]

01:09:30   have devolved him into a pizza put it [TS]

01:09:33   into a topping for his pizza mushroom [TS]

01:09:36   zing yeah living together hold the [TS]

01:09:39   mushrooms that would have been mushrooms [TS]

01:09:41   on the pizza would have been begging for [TS]

01:09:42   their lives it would've been hilarious [TS]

01:09:45   so the the de-evolution gun yeah is the [TS]

01:09:49   super scope from the steps which is [TS]

01:09:50   basically the version of the zapper for [TS]

01:09:53   this nest which is much less iconic and [TS]

01:09:56   recognizable than a zapper barely [TS]

01:09:59   recognizable i would say yep but that [TS]

01:10:01   that is that's the thing that you're in [TS]

01:10:02   some actual nintendo reference [TS]

01:10:04   yeah enjoy it passively couldn't play is [TS]

01:10:08   over you your p tell you now that I know [TS]

01:10:10   about it i did really adds another level [TS]

01:10:12   to the movie doesn't it it adds a level [TS]

01:10:14   to a movie that didn't have one [TS]

01:10:16   previously is this is a war zone joke I [TS]

01:10:19   don't get it [TS]

01:10:19   the troops are dancing again to some [TS]

01:10:21   somewhere my love and a jet boots they [TS]

01:10:24   throw a jet boot at coupa and it knocks [TS]

01:10:27   him off [TS]

01:10:27   yes it's the classic Mario jet boots [TS]

01:10:29   attack just like in the video game is [TS]

01:10:31   pretty easy like they've not Koopa down [TS]

01:10:33   several times this movie no one of the [TS]

01:10:36   times they knock him down [TS]

01:10:37   they actually put the line have a nice [TS]

01:10:39   trip see you next fall into a movie a [TS]

01:10:44   professional real movie will admire that [TS]

01:10:46   so bad [TS]

01:10:49   don't do anything I wouldn't do I'm [TS]

01:10:53   getting too old for this [TS]

01:10:55   don't let your meat loaf Wow trust the [TS]

01:10:59   fungus we are told here this is the [TS]

01:11:02   metaphysical moments like use the Force [TS]

01:11:04   Luke well in this movie trust on this [TS]

01:11:06   fungus [TS]

01:11:07   yeah as they were doing in the directors [TS]

01:11:08   booth the rock falls off and leaving [TS]

01:11:10   catches it and falls down she seems to [TS]

01:11:13   be electrocuted but isn't you need to [TS]

01:11:15   see her fried on the electric car grid [TS]

01:11:17   you know for because you know it's a [TS]

01:11:18   kids movie is foreshadowing she's gonna [TS]

01:11:20   get electrocuted again you know what she [TS]

01:11:23   matched again when she's electrocuted [TS]

01:11:25   and then survives [TS]

01:11:27   I'm thinking okay this is not a movie [TS]

01:11:29   where death happens just i'll be able to [TS]

01:11:33   do a thousand security look Marty but [TS]

01:11:35   her hair looks great at that point it [TS]

01:11:37   does huh of course it goes bride of [TS]

01:11:38   frankenstein as the windows to point out [TS]

01:11:42   that i saw this movie not 24 hours ago [TS]

01:11:44   and everything you're saying to me is [TS]

01:11:45   like new [TS]

01:11:47   you may have passed out don't know I [TS]

01:11:48   just I just stopped paying attention at [TS]

01:11:50   a certain point I would look up from the [TS]

01:11:52   screen and all the plumber i will say [TS]

01:11:54   harder when Cooper is in that like [TS]

01:11:56   construction thing and Mario is like [TS]

01:11:59   under it and Cooper is like shooting [TS]

01:12:00   down at him legally felt like a boss [TS]

01:12:02   fight from my mario game as you like [TS]

01:12:05   someone had described maybe they had [TS]

01:12:07   written a letter to the director is [TS]

01:12:08   perfect what the end of super mario [TS]

01:12:10   world was like and they're running a [TS]

01:12:12   little trouble you know with your video [TS]

01:12:13   game movie could you maybe send us an [TS]

01:12:15   example of what a video game is the ball [TS]

01:12:18   shoots fireballs read directions [TS]

01:12:19   yeah that from a thing and mario has to [TS]

01:12:21   jump under him and then yes hanging from [TS]

01:12:24   a thing [TS]

01:12:24   yeah just like in The Big Sleep where [TS]

01:12:26   they had to contact the author Raymond [TS]

01:12:31   Chandler Raymond Chandler to figure out [TS]

01:12:33   what was going on the directors of this [TS]

01:12:35   movie had to contact the 30 year old kid [TS]

01:12:37   and have them explain a boss battle to [TS]

01:12:40   them so there you go [TS]

01:12:42   he uh at this point we get the he's got [TS]

01:12:45   a bomb see because that's check out [TS]

01:12:47   Bob from earlier which is is minuscule [TS]

01:12:50   and probably can't be seen by anybody [TS]

01:12:51   more than five feet away the very [TS]

01:12:53   anything winding everybody can spot like [TS]

01:12:55   this dinosaurs have really good vision [TS]

01:12:56   so Selena plugs the little gym into the [TS]

01:13:00   into the meteorite and wait first before [TS]

01:13:03   that you okay did we send the Brooklyn [TS]

01:13:05   rods away back through the the rock wall [TS]

01:13:08   yes ah Luigi yells get to Brooklyn tell [TS]

01:13:10   about the invasion and the Koopas yeah [TS]

01:13:13   that's gonna go well people were very [TS]

01:13:14   trusting in New York City 1983 a bunch [TS]

01:13:17   of curry looking ladies are gonna run [TS]

01:13:19   out and tell the FBI about an alternate [TS]

01:13:21   universe filled with dinosaurs that look [TS]

01:13:23   like people and how they're about to [TS]

01:13:25   invade like you wouldn't watch that show [TS]

01:13:27   the TV news was covering alternate [TS]

01:13:29   dimensions very straightforward from [TS]

01:13:31   earlier that looks right [TS]

01:13:32   yes although i don't think it's really [TS]

01:13:33   an issue because as we saw when they [TS]

01:13:35   entered the rock wall on the opposite [TS]

01:13:37   side of that rock wall is a gigantic [TS]

01:13:39   chasm it's about 200 feet down but there [TS]

01:13:42   are don't they appear briefly later I [TS]

01:13:44   think they're there later [TS]

01:13:45   therefore you survive don't worry about [TS]

01:13:47   really don't she'll be dead you don't [TS]

01:13:48   worry about their to say yeah it's a [TS]

01:13:50   safe landing [TS]

01:13:51   yeah this this was a bridge too far for [TS]

01:13:53   me that little that lack of continuity [TS]

01:13:54   right there that was that it really [TS]

01:13:56   broken like the movie you were just you [TS]

01:13:58   doing solid until we got there [TS]

01:13:59   yeah that was it that was it alright [TS]

01:14:01   done w sticks this thing in the in the [TS]

01:14:04   in the asteroid and her [TS]

01:14:06   sorry the video right Brooklyn meteorite [TS]

01:14:08   the great for media rate of six million [TS]

01:14:10   years ago and it's slammed into the wall [TS]

01:14:12   as a skeleton to which we get the [TS]

01:14:14   classic line while she sure makes an [TS]

01:14:16   impression for that just does not sit [TS]

01:14:21   well with me like yes a woman just died [TS]

01:14:24   yeah the deck anyone is a crime against [TS]

01:14:26   all mankind here so death does happen in [TS]

01:14:29   this movie its yes you know it's quippy [TS]

01:14:32   to quit the experience things begin to [TS]

01:14:34   derezzed almost run like as we emerged [TS]

01:14:37   into brooklyn done verging haha Layton [TS]

01:14:42   the mood Slightly I'd like to call out [TS]

01:14:43   the incredible 1993 CGI effects which as [TS]

01:14:48   in Lawnmower Man consists solely of [TS]

01:14:51   turning people into a whole bunch of [TS]

01:14:53   little spheres that roughly those are [TS]

01:14:55   not here those are dots [TS]

01:14:57   here's were not available now its peers [TS]

01:15:00   would have been too hard to render their [TS]

01:15:01   just yes dots yeah those thank-you [TS]

01:15:03   thank-you to get partial I fact single [TS]

01:15:05   pixel 31 your internet we have two [TS]

01:15:07   particle effects I don't think so what [TS]

01:15:10   if the breakdown between the universe's [TS]

01:15:11   had made everything look more pix elated [TS]

01:15:12   little video game ask that would have [TS]

01:15:14   been interesting all that'd be great [TS]

01:15:16   yeah I'm into that [TS]

01:15:17   yeah instead it's just gonna make the [TS]

01:15:19   two characters that are important in [TS]

01:15:20   this movie moved to the other dimension [TS]

01:15:21   everybody else taken to stay behind guys [TS]

01:15:24   what if anything in this movie had [TS]

01:15:25   resembled a video game in some way [TS]

01:15:28   yeah like pleasantville but instead of a [TS]

01:15:30   black-and-white world it's a video game [TS]

01:15:32   world it's all pixelated and I would [TS]

01:15:34   never work [TS]

01:15:34   let's say the shoots capelli in his suit [TS]

01:15:37   and he turns into a chimp yeah there's a [TS]

01:15:39   chimp in the movie that song and [TS]

01:15:43   everybody is delighted in spite of the [TS]

01:15:45   fact that something horrifying it [TS]

01:15:47   impossible is just happened right in [TS]

01:15:48   front of it if it's New York money [TS]

01:15:51   that's a tuesday for ya [TS]

01:15:53   also they they never fix this capelli [TS]

01:15:56   thing like they don't like it did [TS]

01:15:58   improve them back today [TS]

01:15:59   what you said you don't get the sequel [TS]

01:16:01   and let's see you get that plumbing jobs [TS]

01:16:03   faster now see ya ali rampage [TS]

01:16:06   that's a video game with a monkey in it [TS]

01:16:07   yeah there you go it turns into a bigger [TS]

01:16:10   monkey somebody fact check this joke i [TS]

01:16:12   just thought there's going to be a [TS]

01:16:15   sequel called super mario brothers too [TS]

01:16:17   but it's really a totally different [TS]

01:16:19   japanese movie that we died the name of [TS]

01:16:21   ya don't doki doki panick me they won't [TS]

01:16:23   release it here because it's too [TS]

01:16:24   cerebral for ya [TS]

01:16:25   alright a mushroom saves Mario because [TS]

01:16:29   he learns to trust the mushrooms trust [TS]

01:16:31   the fungus and it makes him he makes the [TS]

01:16:33   mushroom big just like in the video game [TS]

01:16:35   where mushrooms baked Mario big did we [TS]

01:16:37   miss the part where Luigi thinks he's [TS]

01:16:39   flying because we skip that is that was [TS]

01:16:41   a long time ago that skin are very [TS]

01:16:43   unnecessary that writing was awful [TS]

01:16:46   yeah that was the one seen that really [TS]

01:16:48   wasn't necessary i have noticed that [TS]

01:16:50   they do not form any sort of coherent [TS]

01:16:52   whole so I don't know wasn't either do [TS]

01:16:54   that city's the movie was it not form a [TS]

01:16:56   coherent whole he thinks he's flying [TS]

01:16:58   actually just hanging from his tool belt [TS]

01:17:00   was a really good time for a prank and [TS]

01:17:02   then hilariously Mario thinks he's [TS]

01:17:04   flying to so he jumps to but he wasn't [TS]

01:17:06   really flying is hanging from his tool [TS]

01:17:08   belt [TS]

01:17:08   why is that in [TS]

01:17:09   they're so the fungus has to say also [TS]

01:17:11   the fuck we haven't at this point heard [TS]

01:17:13   enough about the fungus and seen it [TS]

01:17:15   saved more than 15 times so they need to [TS]

01:17:18   throw another one in there just in case [TS]

01:17:19   we were picking it up [TS]

01:17:20   that's a Mario's journey is that he [TS]

01:17:22   learns to trust it's ok he starts off [TS]

01:17:27   skeptical but by the end of the movie [TS]

01:17:29   he's willing to believe anything he gets [TS]

01:17:31   really a real Joseph Campbell situation [TS]

01:17:33   you have money is money is right this is [TS]

01:17:35   anything is possible Mario you just [TS]

01:17:37   gotta believe [TS]

01:17:38   mm that's parappa the rapper that's a [TS]

01:17:40   whole different state they separate the [TS]

01:17:42   universe's toad place somewhere my love [TS]

01:17:44   on the harmonica when I made you got a [TS]

01:17:47   point out that dennis hopper for no [TS]

01:17:49   apparent reason as he's merging back [TS]

01:17:51   into his own universe shouts whoa no [TS]

01:17:54   okay [TS]

01:17:56   which means back yes so we just had the [TS]

01:18:00   movie explain to us what it's made of [TS]

01:18:03   commentary yes but i also like is when [TS]

01:18:05   they dissolve back and forth between [TS]

01:18:06   dimensions every single time date [TS]

01:18:08   they're like okay well how can we spice [TS]

01:18:10   this up a little more and it's like [TS]

01:18:12   let's that's been his head [TS]

01:18:13   let's have there twirling around that's [TS]

01:18:15   really important in a weird like a [TS]

01:18:18   stop-motion animation twist that happens [TS]

01:18:21   before it's replaced with the actual [TS]

01:18:23   dennis hopper [TS]

01:18:24   mmm yeah you think that was in the [TS]

01:18:25   script though guano or did was he [TS]

01:18:27   ripping their no that was just shouts [TS]

01:18:29   something to shouts something else just [TS]

01:18:30   shouting just keep shouting pull guano I [TS]

01:18:33   would they like it they use that me edit [TS]

01:18:35   comments good good good guano good good [TS]

01:18:38   action i took place somewhere my love on [TS]

01:18:41   harmonica there by the goobers are [TS]

01:18:44   distracted we get one more [TS]

01:18:48   ah plot that happened the shows up with [TS]

01:18:51   some fresh boots for that he's shot with [TS]

01:18:53   the dip devolution gun and blown up by [TS]

01:18:56   the bomb which is finally kind of come [TS]

01:18:58   all the way around he turns into a big [TS]

01:19:00   alligator and wait yeah [TS]

01:19:02   wait you can't let this go by without [TS]

01:19:03   pointing out my mom has to have a little [TS]

01:19:06   Reeboks on it does because what must be [TS]

01:19:09   the cause of insane and misguided [TS]

01:19:11   product placement of all time this is [TS]

01:19:13   why no one wears Reeboks anymore it was [TS]

01:19:15   this this is the reason huh [TS]

01:19:17   mrs. interesting heard mom I was a kind [TS]

01:19:21   of fragile mental state after [TS]

01:19:22   after watching this movie and so I went [TS]

01:19:24   and read many internet forum where [TS]

01:19:27   people argue about whether it's [TS]

01:19:28   pronounced bomb or bob baum you know ya [TS]

01:19:33   terminaste da bomb as a kid and then [TS]

01:19:35   somebody said the bomb and I went oh [TS]

01:19:37   controversial controversial it's clearly [TS]

01:19:41   supposed to be on a model poetic i can [TS]

01:19:43   only be bomb [TS]

01:19:44   there's a lot of unanswered questions in [TS]

01:19:46   the mothers nothing remotely poetic [TS]

01:19:47   about this movie [TS]

01:19:49   yeah I he turns into a big alligator in [TS]

01:19:52   a pot to which they say see you later [TS]

01:19:54   alligator alligator and then turn them [TS]

01:19:56   into kind of a t-rex that devolves into [TS]

01:19:58   slime and I think that's the second or [TS]

01:20:02   third time they've said see you later [TS]

01:20:03   alligator in this movie looks like a [TS]

01:20:07   die-hard I said it like and i really [TS]

01:20:09   keep saying yippie ki-yay this is how [TS]

01:20:11   you get the catchphrase across right [TS]

01:20:13   it's a licensed pharmacist all branding [TS]

01:20:16   is the fuck is everybody was like hey [TS]

01:20:18   trust the fungus see you later alligator [TS]

01:20:20   is it possible with this movie introduce [TS]

01:20:22   the phrase see you later alligator was [TS]

01:20:24   hoping it is quite possible that would [TS]

01:20:26   actually do that the good news the King [TS]

01:20:28   revolves he's laying Henrickson he has [TS]

01:20:31   one line he says love those plumbers [TS]

01:20:33   yeah that was a good wife is why I [TS]

01:20:36   resent hopper devolving back into [TS]

01:20:38   primordial ooze trigger and fungus dad [TS]

01:20:40   to turn back into the king i [TS]

01:20:41   don't--there's kind of like a ding dong [TS]

01:20:43   the witch is dead and like never like [TS]

01:20:44   he's dead and then like everybody's like [TS]

01:20:46   paint over the propaganda and there's [TS]

01:20:48   like this freaky little everybody i [TS]

01:20:50   think yeah I was imagining that there [TS]

01:20:53   there's a lengthy process of revolving [TS]

01:20:55   everybody but it takes time [TS]

01:20:56   mhm that was what I thought in my head [TS]

01:20:59   candidate for super mario party that was [TS]

01:21:01   that was Henrickson really i don't know [TS]

01:21:03   do [TS]

01:21:04   oh yeah man yeah it's a real kind of you [TS]

01:21:06   know they're leaving out that last [TS]

01:21:08   season of Babylon 5 or we find out how [TS]

01:21:09   the Mushroom Kingdom rebuild of those [TS]

01:21:12   plumbers Lance Henriksen will return and [TS]

01:21:14   duck hunt the movie with this the [TS]

01:21:16   snickering dog was was that Henrickson [TS]

01:21:20   playing fungus dad as well because I [TS]

01:21:22   could see him like getting into that [TS]

01:21:23   role [TS]

01:21:25   three weeks later yeah [TS]

01:21:29   there was two I don't think i was [TS]

01:21:31   looking at the screen at that point [TS]

01:21:32   Mario with me around the news being [TS]

01:21:34   praised for saving the universe [TS]

01:21:36   why I daresay I'd call them the Super [TS]

01:21:38   Mario Brothers we should point out that [TS]

01:21:41   daisy has stayed behind to rule over her [TS]

01:21:43   yet she has she has to stay behind [TS]

01:21:45   because she's that they're putting [TS]

01:21:47   together all the pieces after the Kings [TS]

01:21:49   come back and the koopa has ruined [TS]

01:21:51   everything so she's got she can't go [TS]

01:21:52   with them she has to stay with her [TS]

01:21:53   people i think the movie does not [TS]

01:21:55   approve of species mixing know so three [TS]

01:21:58   weeks later though they're on the news [TS]

01:22:00   yes indeed i think i think we call the [TS]

01:22:02   super mario brothers Rick and Karla [TS]

01:22:06   everybody everybody simply believed [TS]

01:22:08   their story about saving an [TS]

01:22:09   alternate-dimension even though the only [TS]

01:22:11   evidence they have is some guys with [TS]

01:22:13   lizard heads and dennis hopper turned up [TS]

01:22:16   at a construction site for 30 seconds [TS]

01:22:18   and turn to guy into a monkey [TS]

01:22:19   Dennis Hopper turned a guy into a monkey [TS]

01:22:20   in front of thousands beautiful where [TS]

01:22:22   this chicken saw that Steve well copy [TS]

01:22:25   the obvious conjecture from that point [TS]

01:22:27   is that there's an alternate dimension [TS]

01:22:28   in need of saving and there are probably [TS]

01:22:30   some plumbers off saving it so Daisy [TS]

01:22:32   returns three weeks later and she says [TS]

01:22:34   mario luigi you gotta come with me it's [TS]

01:22:36   not you it's your kids they never haha [TS]

01:22:38   yeah we need your help [TS]

01:22:40   where we're going we don't need roads no [TS]

01:22:42   well pretty much that's what she says [TS]

01:22:44   and that's the end of our meats though [TS]

01:22:46   other than almost unreal perform yeah by [TS]

01:22:49   roxette the credits are so proud of this [TS]

01:22:51   Roxette song gets its own page that's [TS]

01:22:54   why friends when I dropped out before I [TS]

01:22:56   could get to that great morning stinger [TS]

01:22:59   at the end of the movie that apparently [TS]

01:23:00   made it all worthwhile [TS]

01:23:02   and with that the door is open for [TS]

01:23:04   hundreds of quality video game movies to [TS]

01:23:06   pour forth this without this would there [TS]

01:23:10   have been a wing commander I think not [TS]

01:23:12   with their benefit street fighter with [TS]

01:23:14   there been a more plausible more about [TS]

01:23:16   movies a couple years ago for uh a [TS]

01:23:19   publication no longer employees me [TS]

01:23:21   we did it we did a piece a in relation [TS]

01:23:26   to the record Ralph a premier that was [TS]

01:23:29   basically here are the great video game [TS]

01:23:31   movie hits and misses and all the all [TS]

01:23:35   the video game movies that are the least [TS]

01:23:38   but watchable are ones that are not [TS]

01:23:39   based on actual video games [TS]

01:23:42   or you that our document or their [TS]

01:23:44   documentaries and the one where did ya [TS]

01:23:47   rod king kong king of kong or grande [TS]

01:23:50   more games [TS]

01:23:51   yeah we're getting Williams the last [TS]

01:23:54   night yeah those are good movies pretty [TS]

01:23:56   good movie Joe but didn't take that job [TS]

01:24:00   though the ones that are based on actual [TS]

01:24:05   video keep several terabytes of course [TS]

01:24:08   they are right then let me so we can all [TS]

01:24:11   agree that if you were just given some [TS]

01:24:13   money to write a screenplay based on on [TS]

01:24:16   Super Mario Brothers I I think we can [TS]

01:24:18   all agree that any one of us could do a [TS]

01:24:21   better job than this i don't i don't [TS]

01:24:23   agree i don't think there is a good [TS]

01:24:25   version of a weekend with real money [TS]

01:24:27   well this is my point is we I think we [TS]

01:24:29   can all agree we could do maybe [TS]

01:24:30   something better than this but this is [TS]

01:24:32   my this is my question which is could a [TS]

01:24:35   good movie ever be made of one of these [TS]

01:24:38   video games I i have a hard time [TS]

01:24:40   believing that that is possible [TS]

01:24:42   well not out of a video game that has no [TS]

01:24:44   story of yeah he's always mad Mario [TS]

01:24:46   Brothers at this point did not there [TS]

01:24:48   were I mean keep in mind at this point [TS]

01:24:49   there were like many many hours of a [TS]

01:24:52   lackluster Super Mario Brothers cartoon [TS]

01:24:54   so it seems like they have like [TS]

01:24:56   harvested the best bits of that and made [TS]

01:24:58   something with that I could make a hell [TS]

01:25:00   of a movie based on dig dug tell you [TS]

01:25:03   that haha oh man its camera opens John [TS]

01:25:06   ham and a post-apocalyptic world and a [TS]

01:25:09   tight white jumpsuits yeah and he's he [TS]

01:25:12   jammed that thing into his arm when no [TS]

01:25:14   one's looking he's got he's got problems [TS]

01:25:16   yeah yeah exactly it's about addiction [TS]

01:25:18   Tony yeah to digging and digging I'm [TS]

01:25:22   with you could you could turn mario kart [TS]

01:25:24   into Cannonball Run yeah same idea that [TS]

01:25:28   you could turn a modern game like red [TS]

01:25:30   dead redemption could be a perfectly [TS]

01:25:31   acceptable Western ok seems that our art [TS]

01:25:35   that are already cinematic in nature i [TS]

01:25:37   think it very easily be adapted like the [TS]

01:25:39   Silent Hill game movie was not great but [TS]

01:25:41   it also was okay and I'm drawing a blank [TS]

01:25:45   and any other ones but residents [TS]

01:25:47   actually pretty well i would say the [TS]

01:25:48   resident evil residents are good yeah [TS]

01:25:50   they're there are movies they're moving [TS]

01:25:52   they have dragons lair we could do a [TS]

01:25:55   drainage layer movie it was basis [TS]

01:25:59   yeah i just i don't think people have [TS]

01:26:00   when they're given the kind of money you [TS]

01:26:03   get to make a video game movie [TS]

01:26:04   Shakespeare based the tempest on the [TS]

01:26:06   tempest you don't know you could do a [TS]

01:26:12   miss pac-man movie not packing a miss [TS]

01:26:14   pac-man I understand yeah well that's [TS]

01:26:16   the good one yeah yeah but Susan [TS]

01:26:18   Sarandon is miss pac-man sort of Elliot [TS]

01:26:21   the IRG gain 300 pounds for the role [TS]

01:26:24   she's committed to our already cuz miss [TS]

01:26:27   pac-man surround yeah yeah [TS]

01:26:30   oh yes you are right yeah he also got [TS]

01:26:32   jaundice for it it's just makeup i think [TS]

01:26:36   this is one of those cases like these [TS]

01:26:37   computers yeah probably would help out a [TS]

01:26:39   little [TS]

01:26:39   Harvey Keitel is Klaus all hairy pitfall [TS]

01:26:46   area would be a movies in a way the new [TS]

01:26:48   Ghostbusters movie is miss pac-man [TS]

01:26:50   ladies fighting ghosts [TS]

01:26:52   oh well now you know my new york city [TS]

01:26:56   because baby it's based on a grid who [TS]

01:26:58   was originally afraid of no ghost pacman [TS]

01:27:00   I don't think you generally get a whole [TS]

01:27:02   huge budget when you're told to make a [TS]

01:27:04   video game movie yeah you get a pittance [TS]

01:27:05   and it's not enough to buy a decent [TS]

01:27:08   script based off of a game that doesn't [TS]

01:27:10   already have a back story that's rich [TS]

01:27:12   well did so but look how much money they [TS]

01:27:15   spent on the Battleship movie I was just [TS]

01:27:17   saying so yeah the Battleship movie and [TS]

01:27:20   and also this this one even for its time [TS]

01:27:22   is 48 million oh my god [TS]

01:27:24   yeah so it raked in 20 million which is [TS]

01:27:28   that you know pretty it's not very good [TS]

01:27:30   for no not it that's not good at all you [TS]

01:27:33   know that is some serious word-of-mouth [TS]

01:27:35   you would think they could have gotten [TS]

01:27:36   48 million just by dumb kids going to [TS]

01:27:39   see the Super Mario Brothers movie but [TS]

01:27:41   apparently not i wouldn't spit on 20 [TS]

01:27:43   million dollars i saw this when I was [TS]

01:27:45   about 13 I was disappointed [TS]

01:27:47   so yeah I saw it in theaters to speaking [TS]

01:27:50   of Monte working in the theater [TS]

01:27:51   this is one of the only times I've ever [TS]

01:27:53   been in the theater I didn't see it in [TS]

01:27:54   the theater but i remember going to the [TS]

01:27:56   theater and having all the people [TS]

01:27:58   working at the theater warned me away [TS]

01:28:00   from seeing it don't see this movie but [TS]

01:28:03   it also surprised anyone that they got [TS]

01:28:04   the right [TS]

01:28:05   it's to do this for two million dollars [TS]

01:28:06   from Nintendo how much do you think [TS]

01:28:08   nintendo was actually involved in this [TS]

01:28:10   because i did see the copyright 1993 [TS]

01:28:12   nintendo at the very tail end of the [TS]

01:28:14   credits [TS]

01:28:15   that's what Roland rafi used to convince [TS]

01:28:17   them to sell it to him in a small [TS]

01:28:19   company instead of selling it to a major [TS]

01:28:21   studio because the idea was that [TS]

01:28:23   Nintendo would have more creative [TS]

01:28:24   control over it with a small company [TS]

01:28:26   everybody paid on that really people [TS]

01:28:29   apparently miyamoto said according to [TS]

01:28:32   wikipedia it was a fun project to put a [TS]

01:28:34   lot of effort into about the movement [TS]

01:28:36   have tried to get a little too close to [TS]

01:28:38   what the Mario Brothers video games [TS]

01:28:40   where he is such a nice guy that is [TS]

01:28:42   there knowing anyone has ever ended that [TS]

01:28:45   sense it became a movie that was about a [TS]

01:28:47   video game rather than being wait for it [TS]

01:28:49   rather than being added to an [TS]

01:28:51   entertaining movie in and of itself that [TS]

01:28:54   is that is the nicest thing you could [TS]

01:28:55   say but the 10-1 did the Strategos the [TS]

01:29:00   movie john keel good play the spy and he [TS]

01:29:07   didn't mention the 600 executives that [TS]

01:29:09   committed harakiri at the end of this [TS]

01:29:10   community [TS]

01:29:12   Wow uh yeah I so so super mario brothers [TS]

01:29:17   what we learned people don't watch it [TS]

01:29:21   don't watch Super Mario Brothers yeah [TS]

01:29:23   that's a good lesson [TS]

01:29:24   oh you're supposed to jump between the [TS]

01:29:26   first two turtles don't don't make [TS]

01:29:28   movies about games unless it's connect [TS]

01:29:31   four and you can get sir ian mckellen to [TS]

01:29:33   say pretty sneaky sis to don't make [TS]

01:29:36   movies about video games three certainly [TS]

01:29:39   don't make movies about stupid Mario and [TS]

01:29:41   his stupid brother someday someone is [TS]

01:29:44   going to prove you wrong you know years [TS]

01:29:47   ago somebody said don't make movies [TS]

01:29:49   based on rides at Disneyland and yet how [TS]

01:29:51   does the Caribbean worked out [TS]

01:29:53   yeah we never really i want to maybe the [TS]

01:29:55   video games and what I'm looking forward [TS]

01:29:57   to auto key underneath all that country [TS]

01:29:59   bears movie [TS]

01:30:01   apparently the most successful video [TS]

01:30:03   game movie is the prince of persia movie [TS]

01:30:05   how get out of town [TS]

01:30:08   I just was little doubt about that yeah [TS]

01:30:11   that was that was in the well that's [TS]

01:30:13   wrong hall jig and haul it was [TS]

01:30:15   along with some flophouse the present [TS]

01:30:16   already seen ya your family gene [TS]

01:30:19   gyllenhaal aside Illinois it's only call [TS]

01:30:22   it science jake gyllenhaal we are a [TS]

01:30:25   prince of persia did better the tomb [TS]

01:30:26   raider to murder his third foul our [TS]

01:30:29   resident evil afterlife is second [TS]

01:30:31   resident evil retribution it is worth I [TS]

01:30:36   believe this bar is so low to clear you [TS]

01:30:39   would actually have to dig into the [TS]

01:30:40   earth 5,000 feet below the surface to [TS]

01:30:44   click the bar i think the point is that [TS]

01:30:46   if there's a good video game movie to be [TS]

01:30:48   made it is probably to be made out of a [TS]

01:30:50   video game movie that is cinematic and [TS]

01:30:52   its own scope and not a film based on [TS]

01:30:54   something as simple all be enjoyable as [TS]

01:30:59   the mario games all right I'm ready to [TS]

01:31:01   write this script tell me what happens [TS]

01:31:03   to this video game [TS]

01:31:04   well there's a guy in overalls got a [TS]

01:31:07   mustache and he runs to the right and [TS]

01:31:10   he's a plumber stop and struck oil well [TS]

01:31:13   he was a plumber we're not really sure [TS]

01:31:14   what he does now [TS]

01:31:15   he was a plumber he was a guy who worked [TS]

01:31:17   at the construction site this Bailey hi [TS]

01:31:19   guy go in big pipe [TS]

01:31:21   sometimes he gets really big you have to [TS]

01:31:23   put that in if you don't want to [TS]

01:31:25   other times he shoots fire maybe not put [TS]

01:31:28   that in either i don't know that's [TS]

01:31:30   pretty much it [TS]

01:31:31   one quite all with it can I justify him [TS]

01:31:33   dressing up like a raccoon sometimes if [TS]

01:31:35   it [TS]

01:31:37   yeah you could alright I I think it's [TS]

01:31:41   time for us to declare this movie dead [TS]

01:31:43   yes huh thank you all for watching this [TS]

01:31:47   film it was bad i was this maybe though [TS]

01:31:52   this may be well i have not watched all [TS]

01:31:54   the rocket surgery movies this may be [TS]

01:31:56   the worst one I've seen [TS]

01:31:57   I had to stop a couple of times I the [TS]

01:31:59   base base myself through this one this [TS]

01:32:01   is a pretty bad movie the end it's not [TS]

01:32:03   it's not even in an enjoyable kind of [TS]

01:32:07   bad like Zardoz ya know is jordan is [TS]

01:32:10   still bad it's good kind of movie it was [TS]

01:32:12   happily made like I said I'd I didn't [TS]

01:32:15   even know disagree you don't think so [TS]

01:32:18   disagreements competent you think you [TS]

01:32:19   can say bad there's a bad not a good bad [TS]

01:32:22   this is and is not a good movie on [TS]

01:32:25   anyone acting as an awful the [TS]

01:32:28   design although it was pretty much [TS]

01:32:29   entirely crypt for max headroom i love [TS]

01:32:31   that was in max headroom so I sort of [TS]

01:32:33   enjoyed that I guess it was left over [TS]

01:32:35   from Max Headroom yeah i did not enjoy [TS]

01:32:38   this movie on any level we just hit fast [TS]

01:32:40   forward at certain points and left I [TS]

01:32:42   mean slow fast forward but you know [TS]

01:32:44   she's wrong as we didn't have to listen [TS]

01:32:46   to her aid [TS]

01:32:47   Peter like I am lowers out of the club [TS]

01:32:50   yeah well you didn't even enjoy it on [TS]

01:32:52   level 30 [TS]
