00:00:13   Snelling now over the past year we have [TS]

00:00:16   tried some interesting things in a [TS]

00:00:19   spin-off podcast at this podcast called [TS]

00:00:20   TV that you can find at the incredible [TS]

00:00:23   com talking about different shows week [TS]

00:00:25   by week as they come out and we we [TS]

00:00:27   really like superheroes so in fact two [TS]

00:00:30   of the shows that we spent a lot of time [TS]

00:00:31   talking about on those podcast were the [TS]

00:00:34   flash and arrow up so we're going to [TS]

00:00:36   talk about them [TS]

00:00:37   we also there are a bunch of episodes [TS]

00:00:38   about daredevil so that we like [TS]

00:00:41   superhero shows there are a bunch of [TS]

00:00:43   other superhero shows that are also on [TS]

00:00:45   the air including and comic book related [TS]

00:00:47   things including Gotham agents of shield [TS]

00:00:50   agent Carter and Constantine it was a [TS]

00:00:53   superhero comedy kind of TV season so to [TS]

00:00:56   wrap up the season of comic book TV [TS]

00:00:59   shows i have brought together an [TS]

00:01:01   all-star panel including many stars who [TS]

00:01:49   alive not true [TS]

00:01:50   nope tap know that's right em with the [TS]

00:01:53   trap [TS]

00:01:54   yeah no not with the scribe so I let her [TS]

00:01:57   we're gonna go it's you know we only [TS]

00:01:59   have one podcast here and and we have [TS]

00:02:01   like seven shows to talk about and I i [TS]

00:02:03   will say that if you want detailed [TS]

00:02:05   feelings about the flash and arrow and [TS]

00:02:08   daredevil you should check out the TV [TS]

00:02:09   podcast because we we love our feelings [TS]

00:02:11   go week-by-week there and and i love i [TS]

00:02:13   love the flash browser i'm sure i would [TS]

00:02:15   love the arrow cast if I want a season [TS]

00:02:17   behind on arrow and I've enjoyed the [TS]

00:02:19   half of the daredevil cast that I've [TS]

00:02:21   been able to listen to because I'm only [TS]

00:02:22   about halfway through [TS]

00:02:24   so that's an endorsement is what I'm [TS]

00:02:26   saying they're great that the ones i've [TS]

00:02:28   heard anyway are great and I'm sure the [TS]

00:02:30   others are also great [TS]

00:02:31   so with that said let's not talk about [TS]

00:02:34   those first and instead talk about uh [TS]

00:02:37   let's start with Gotham often move on [TS]

00:02:41   this is Gotham which which we discussed [TS]

00:02:43   early on after the first couple episodes [TS]

00:02:45   i think it aired and described it as [TS]

00:02:48   these weird mix of shows where it's it's [TS]

00:02:50   a Gotham supervillain babies [TS]

00:02:55   there's Jim Gordon cop on the edge and [TS]

00:02:58   there's creepy young Bruce Wayne anybody [TS]

00:03:02   i watched three episodes and gave up [TS]

00:03:03   what does everybody else think I watched [TS]

00:03:06   them all Jason alright he's in yeah i [TS]

00:03:09   watched all of them because of my Batman [TS]

00:03:12   obsession Batman obsession [TS]

00:03:14   oh it's not the complete sense think [TS]

00:03:15   that's the bat well my my completed [TS]

00:03:18   since think is particularly strong in [TS]

00:03:19   things related to that man [TS]

00:03:21   yeah I gave up four episodes from the [TS]

00:03:23   end after fish Mooney begin president of [TS]

00:03:25   the Thunderdome [TS]

00:03:26   whoo i'm batman system i gave up after [TS]

00:03:29   seven episodes and so so there's a good [TS]

00:03:32   show in Gotham but it's a frickin like [TS]

00:03:35   it's Frankenstein from likely there's [TS]

00:03:36   like eight other shows in it as well so [TS]

00:03:38   i am not sure that there's a good show [TS]

00:03:40   tell me what is a big show the good shit [TS]

00:03:42   so here's the thing is like that it's [TS]

00:03:43   not not any one of them is a good show [TS]

00:03:45   but I took each of them together you can [TS]

00:03:48   make a fairly passable like a surgeon it [TS]

00:03:51   I felt like it got a little better and [TS]

00:03:53   then it gets really bad and there's a [TS]

00:03:55   whole arc with a serial killer [TS]

00:03:57   yeah yeah yeah i was i was lighted that [TS]

00:03:59   was like not a good ending note there [TS]

00:04:01   was 1i think that the thing that finally [TS]

00:04:03   got us to turn it off was when Barbara [TS]

00:04:06   did not get killed by the Sifl kilter [TS]

00:04:08   and well because one of the one of the [TS]

00:04:11   the corners that the show's writers are [TS]

00:04:13   in you get introduced to Barbara and [TS]

00:04:15   austin supply she supposed to marry Jim [TS]

00:04:17   Gordon and they're supposed to have I [TS]

00:04:19   guess Barbara Gordon jr. who will then [TS]

00:04:21   go on to become Batgirl and oracle and [TS]

00:04:23   Batgirl again and the problem is the two [TS]

00:04:25   actors are playing Jim and Barbara had [TS]

00:04:27   no chemistry what so ever and ever [TS]

00:04:31   literally everybody else is on screen [TS]

00:04:32   what he sparked with better and they [TS]

00:04:34   found a different love interest in [TS]

00:04:35   marina back around and look at that was [TS]

00:04:37   going places that [TS]

00:04:37   so this big barber problem and by the [TS]

00:04:39   time we stop watching it [TS]

00:04:41   our big problem Barbara problems why is [TS]

00:04:42   she still here she gets increasingly [TS]

00:04:44   creepy to like there was a scene that I [TS]

00:04:46   think I and I talked about on the we [TS]

00:04:48   mention briefly on the arrow cast where [TS]

00:04:50   she takes in Salina and there's a when [TS]

00:04:53   she's got this seems she's like drinking [TS]

00:04:54   with the girls yeah and shops are closed [TS]

00:04:57   like some Wilson Phillips video and [TS]

00:04:59   she's she goes new whole thing about how [TS]

00:05:00   beautiful Selina Kyle isn't at the same [TS]

00:05:01   time because we specifically it would [TS]

00:05:03   not be that creepy if it weren't for the [TS]

00:05:05   fact that we've been told that Barbara [TS]

00:05:07   is interested in women as well as mayor [TS]

00:05:09   so it comes off really creepy and that [TS]

00:05:12   1c and also teen runaways usually [TS]

00:05:14   product sexual exploitation so there's a [TS]

00:05:15   whole thing going on there were like oh [TS]

00:05:17   it's gonna be like a fish Mooney thing [TS]

00:05:18   where she like uses people and good but [TS]

00:05:21   they don't put it in it but then its [TS]

00:05:23   left like just sitting there like that [TS]

00:05:24   was a weird creepy scene in a vacuum [TS]

00:05:26   like which does is sort of indicative of [TS]

00:05:28   the show you could call it weird creepy [TS]

00:05:29   scene in a vacuum and you'd be right [TS]

00:05:30   about most episodes [TS]

00:05:32   yeah like that this stuff that I tuned [TS]

00:05:33   in for for as long as I didn't I really [TS]

00:05:35   like that rapport between Jim and his [TS]

00:05:37   partner and if it had been too cranky [TS]

00:05:39   detectives cravat each other while [TS]

00:05:40   solving cases that would have been great [TS]

00:05:43   because i love i love a good cop [TS]

00:05:45   I love a good buddy cop show and I like [TS]

00:05:47   to the Bruce Wayne story actually [TS]

00:05:49   because I felt that is so much time and [TS]

00:05:52   attention is given to Bruce Wayne in [TS]

00:05:54   sort of the batman begins training thing [TS]

00:05:56   where it's like he learns to be you know [TS]

00:05:58   do karate but I thought that there was [TS]

00:06:00   this was an interesting job of dealing [TS]

00:06:02   with a young Bruce Wayne who has had his [TS]

00:06:04   parents murdered isn't necessarily at [TS]

00:06:08   the point where he's going to start [TS]

00:06:09   training to being like you know a major [TS]

00:06:11   ass kicker but we know that Batman is [TS]

00:06:13   also there's a whole detective angle and [TS]

00:06:15   so we see the Bruce Wayne's like trying [TS]

00:06:16   to piece things together and solve a [TS]

00:06:18   mystery which I thought was actually [TS]

00:06:19   kind of cool and like a rough the [TS]

00:06:21   rapport between him and out and Alfred [TS]

00:06:22   get a lot better as the season goes [TS]

00:06:24   along i really like Alfred as the guy [TS]

00:06:26   like Sean Pertwee the Alpha character [TS]

00:06:29   almost makes Batman makes sense because [TS]

00:06:30   outfit is a little bit kick-ass kind of [TS]

00:06:33   guy and this one guy asks yeah yeah he's [TS]

00:06:37   not just like a doting Butler is looking [TS]

00:06:40   for his grey poupon exactly yeah he's [TS]

00:06:42   he's he's got some hard edges on him and [TS]

00:06:45   he's trying his best to just sort of a [TS]

00:06:47   child the obvious problem though there's [TS]

00:06:49   no Batman [TS]

00:06:50   that is my problem with vast loss of [TS]

00:06:52   media the critical bat the deficit was [TS]

00:06:58   also here's the way here's the thing [TS]

00:07:00   that I that's all so weird about this [TS]

00:07:01   whole show the premise of this entire [TS]

00:07:03   show is that Jim Gordon is trying to [TS]

00:07:04   clean up Gotham now if we it now and I [TS]

00:07:07   think you have to be careful when it [TS]

00:07:08   comes to superior to shows about saying [TS]

00:07:10   we know this is going to happen because [TS]

00:07:12   this is who these characters are in the [TS]

00:07:14   comic books and I you know we talked a [TS]

00:07:16   lot about that on arrow like this these [TS]

00:07:17   two characters have to end up together [TS]

00:07:18   because they end up that together in the [TS]

00:07:20   comics and like I don't know that that's [TS]

00:07:22   the case but the weird thing about the [TS]

00:07:24   way the Gotham is structured is the only [TS]

00:07:26   real good resolution for the show is if [TS]

00:07:29   they clean up Gotham and they don't need [TS]

00:07:32   to have a Batman like I think that is [TS]

00:07:33   the only interesting way that you could [TS]

00:07:35   go because it doesn't make sense [TS]

00:07:36   otherwise it's just a story of failure [TS]

00:07:38   like it's a story that everybody failing [TS]

00:07:40   to do every day and that's that's life [TS]

00:07:41   but that's also life in Gotham [TS]

00:07:43   especially Jim Gordon doesn't get to win [TS]

00:07:45   crime winds like eighty percent of the [TS]

00:07:47   time or it's the wire light but and that [TS]

00:07:50   works great if you are the wire well but [TS]

00:07:51   Jim Gordon gets to be the commissioner [TS]

00:07:53   right so I feel like that was that [TS]

00:07:55   that's going to be the path of the show [TS]

00:07:56   and I do i do like ben mckenzie and [TS]

00:07:58   Donna Logan I thought those guys work [TS]

00:08:00   well together and and I feel like that's [TS]

00:08:02   the only you've got if you've got to [TS]

00:08:04   give somebody hope with the show it has [TS]

00:08:06   to be that which is James Gordon who has [TS]

00:08:08   entered this completely corrupt city and [TS]

00:08:10   this completely corrupt police force is [TS]

00:08:12   eventually going to get them together [TS]

00:08:15   enough to be the police commissioner and [TS]

00:08:17   at least be perhaps you know we can [TS]

00:08:20   dream that the police department will be [TS]

00:08:22   cleared of corruption and he will [TS]

00:08:24   instill in them you know some some [TS]

00:08:27   ethics and morals overrun by [TS]

00:08:28   supervillains in the but this is sadly [TS]

00:08:30   the supervillains will require the [TS]

00:08:33   Batman [TS]

00:08:33   no I hear that the season six of The [TS]

00:08:35   Wire was also about the Batman showing [TS]

00:08:37   up in cleaning up Baltimore COI really [TS]

00:08:39   sad to miss out on that one didn't turn [TS]

00:08:40   into that yeah it got a little preachy [TS]

00:08:42   because David Simon had a history as a [TS]

00:08:44   sidekick and he was really letting all [TS]

00:08:46   of his knives out about like how badly [TS]

00:08:48   he was treated as a sidekick [TS]

00:08:49   so it's got a little preachy corruption [TS]

00:08:51   among Butler's it turns out the wire was [TS]

00:08:53   the name of the superhero that was the [TS]

00:08:55   big twist at the end was the numbers the [TS]

00:08:57   name of superhero all you just but that [TS]

00:08:59   was that would actually have been [TS]

00:09:00   interesting as if the folks who are [TS]

00:09:02   reading often [TS]

00:09:02   sat down and said okay basically we're [TS]

00:09:04   telling a story like the wire where Jim [TS]

00:09:05   gets morally compromised in some ways [TS]

00:09:07   but he thinks it's for the greater good [TS]

00:09:08   in other ways and this is how the system [TS]

00:09:11   wins the stuff people win and then [TS]

00:09:13   somebody bust into the room and says I [TS]

00:09:14   have an idea for five other stories [TS]

00:09:15   instead they're like ship it you're [TS]

00:09:20   really enthusiastic about you were bored [TS]

00:09:22   let's go totally good and he said [TS]

00:09:24   because that character is morally [TS]

00:09:26   compromised anyway like he's hanging out [TS]

00:09:28   with the majority and he's got a big [TS]

00:09:30   giant vigilante clamp on his building [TS]

00:09:33   like he's clearly morally compromised [TS]

00:09:36   rate so that didn't end up there by [TS]

00:09:37   accident right yeah yeah so he got this [TS]

00:09:40   number but what's this doing here [TS]

00:09:42   it was an art projects are brother from [TS]

00:09:44   school you have asked questions so yeah [TS]

00:09:46   that's it that's an interesting story to [TS]

00:09:47   tell one in which i don't think they're [TS]

00:09:50   telling this certainly know a vigilante [TS]

00:09:52   lamp yeah you go to CRATE&BARREL it [TS]

00:09:56   wasn't really being written by written [TS]

00:09:57   by committee [TS]

00:09:58   I mean I feel I feel bad for the actors [TS]

00:10:00   because they're obviously they a lot of [TS]

00:10:02   the actors were doing their best to try [TS]

00:10:03   and and commit to a specific vision of [TS]

00:10:06   the character especially edward nygma [TS]

00:10:07   yeah you will get no he's phenomenal and [TS]

00:10:11   I'm Ben McKenzie who I really loved on [TS]

00:10:13   southland and eloquent to ya-ya airline [TS]

00:10:17   it i enjoyed his history a lot of great [TS]

00:10:19   characters they're all in different [TS]

00:10:20   shows sadly but their medicare no Edward [TS]

00:10:23   nygma will you ever quit with your silly [TS]

00:10:25   riddles mr. Nicholas don't worry in [TS]

00:10:27   these last episode of the season they [TS]

00:10:29   make it very explicit what's gonna hit [TS]

00:10:31   up [TS]

00:10:31   ya just [TS]

00:10:33   I don't I felt so connected and [TS]

00:10:35   wednesday models also i felt so bad for [TS]

00:10:37   him all season because he's just this [TS]

00:10:39   weird smart dude who literally a smart [TS]

00:10:42   and the one thing he can't crack his [TS]

00:10:43   house is having a dedicated beings and [TS]

00:10:46   he tries like this is unquenchable [TS]

00:10:47   optimism through much of the season and [TS]

00:10:49   I was like oh my god that would make my [TS]

00:10:51   wish too sure about you and rub the cops [TS]

00:10:53   and no one else I don't like what they [TS]

00:10:55   did to him by the individuals and I [TS]

00:10:56   don't want to say it just because I [TS]

00:10:59   don't think anybody's got there yet [TS]

00:11:00   did I really don't care about getting [TS]

00:11:02   spoiled i do not care i watched three [TS]

00:11:04   episodes gave up on it and then watch [TS]

00:11:06   the rest so that's really sweet [TS]

00:11:10   definitely cannot host that supposed to [TS]

00:11:11   give up you can just exactly yeah the [TS]

00:11:14   big problem i have with me aside from [TS]

00:11:16   just the tone and the violence and the [TS]

00:11:18   fact that my kids want to watch it and [TS]

00:11:20   they really shouldn't and it's on at [TS]

00:11:22   eight o'clock so you know try pulling [TS]

00:11:25   them away from it is that it's you know [TS]

00:11:28   as an aside from the failure you know [TS]

00:11:30   all the time it's gonna have to end up [TS]

00:11:32   and failure for Batman to show up all of [TS]

00:11:35   these villains that we're getting to [TS]

00:11:36   meet all of the villain babies are gonna [TS]

00:11:38   be so much older than Batman by the time [TS]

00:11:41   he's Batman you know it's gonna be like [TS]

00:11:43   what 20 years [TS]

00:11:44   you don't know that man because he could [TS]

00:11:46   drop into one of those reverse Lazarus [TS]

00:11:47   pits and just skip everybody all [TS]

00:11:49   together you know that's why do you [TS]

00:11:50   Batman is he's never had together an [TS]

00:11:52   awkward phase [TS]

00:11:53   yeah great Batman series we just fight [TS]

00:11:54   all these villains like canes and [TS]

00:11:56   walkers this out 15 year old Batman wins [TS]

00:12:00   here yeah it's like I'd love to c 1 [TS]

00:12:02   wherein and I mean I sort of tried that [TS]

00:12:04   I guess with fish Mooney butBut to sort [TS]

00:12:07   of see you know who are the villains [TS]

00:12:09   that inspired the Joker in the Riddler [TS]

00:12:11   and the penguin now I don't want to see [TS]

00:12:13   the mob bosses that they all worked [TS]

00:12:15   where I want to see that first [TS]

00:12:17   generation and archaeologists and I you [TS]

00:12:19   know I think one of the most effective [TS]

00:12:21   episodes for me at least was the episode [TS]

00:12:23   about the red hood because that was kind [TS]

00:12:26   of what about like an urban legend of [TS]

00:12:28   Gotham instead of a specific character [TS]

00:12:30   where you have to start doing the math [TS]

00:12:32   about how old will they be when they [TS]

00:12:33   matter you know that so i really liked [TS]

00:12:35   that episode I totally loaded and an [TS]

00:12:37   extent that i have to be the joke is so [TS]

00:12:39   badly [TS]

00:12:40   yeah and that was also one of those ones [TS]

00:12:42   that they they kind of focused a lot [TS]

00:12:44   more on one continuous plot line then [TS]

00:12:46   God that medicine had everything that [TS]

00:12:48   had snakes and clowns and love triangles [TS]

00:12:53   and what else could you ask for real [TS]

00:12:54   that's everything I want everything [TS]

00:12:56   pretty much it [TS]

00:12:57   acceleration but it was missing a [TS]

00:12:58   gorilla admittedly you know not [TS]

00:13:01   everything can have a psychic gorilla [TS]

00:13:02   what you shakin my beliefs cisco well [TS]

00:13:05   you know is a critical Batman and [TS]

00:13:07   gorillas deficit Tony no I deal with [TS]

00:13:10   these issues every day someone tweeted [TS]

00:13:13   this a couple weeks ago that you know [TS]

00:13:14   you have agents of shield the talks [TS]

00:13:17   about and talks about talks when you've [TS]

00:13:18   got the talks and talks and talks and [TS]

00:13:20   the flash you want a psychic gorilla you [TS]

00:13:23   get from the air they have me wait they [TS]

00:13:25   kept me waiting for that second karela [TS]

00:13:27   from a long 21 episodes [TS]

00:13:29   yeah but now they know they've taken her [TS]

00:13:31   a lot of the table yeah yeah so yeah we [TS]

00:13:34   can have not ever show can have a [TS]

00:13:35   psychic gorilla we should probably move [TS]

00:13:37   on one order could use do yeah well [TS]

00:13:40   Jerry Orbach was essentially playing [TS]

00:13:41   that part I thought that's what chris [TS]

00:13:43   noth was soo Lee soon Jung across our [TS]

00:13:46   jokes monetary or baka I with krishna it [TS]

00:13:50   works it works and it worked well [TS]

00:13:52   together [TS]

00:13:52   let's talk about let's talk about agents [TS]

00:13:54   of shield whoa did saying for a while [TS]

00:13:58   now is you know we don't know the legend [TS]

00:14:02   is that it turned around sort of midway [TS]

00:14:03   through the first season and became more [TS]

00:14:05   interesting which we are hard because it [TS]

00:14:07   was not interesting and then in the [TS]

00:14:08   second season i would say that I went [TS]

00:14:10   through a period where i was bored again [TS]

00:14:12   and then I went through a period where i [TS]

00:14:14   was interested again n and yet so this [TS]

00:14:18   is one that I've seen that I what I find [TS]

00:14:22   baffling about it is first off they do [TS]

00:14:25   sing hamstrung by the fact that they [TS]

00:14:26   need to lead up from and then recede [TS]

00:14:28   back from afterward the release of [TS]

00:14:31   avengers age of ultron where they kind [TS]

00:14:33   of have to tie into that in some way but [TS]

00:14:35   also they took this long digression with [TS]

00:14:37   the Inhumans and the thing to baffle me [TS]

00:14:39   about is I felt like the Inhumans plot [TS]

00:14:41   where they find these Inhumans and [TS]

00:14:42   they've got powers and they've got their [TS]

00:14:43   little you know whatever it is village [TS]

00:14:46   in the mountains and I don't understand [TS]

00:14:49   the racism against powered people and I [TS]

00:14:53   guess that's [TS]

00:14:53   premise of the show but I think it just [TS]

00:14:55   points out how misguided the show's [TS]

00:14:56   premises where when they find all these [TS]

00:14:58   powered people everybody and when sky is [TS]

00:15:01   revealed to have her powers they that [TS]

00:15:03   the responses like she's a threat she [TS]

00:15:05   must be stopped [TS]

00:15:06   it's like you know the Avengers over [TS]

00:15:07   there those are all power people and you [TS]

00:15:08   like them right but why do you hate [TS]

00:15:10   everybody else and the answer is because [TS]

00:15:12   our show is our show is about people [TS]

00:15:14   whose job is to find and capture people [TS]

00:15:16   who have powers [TS]

00:15:17   we should never have been because that's [TS]

00:15:19   boring they have those guys are filled [TS]

00:15:21   out a w-2 they've got a photocopy of [TS]

00:15:23   Thor's driver's license its origins [TS]

00:15:25   literally dramatic moment at that leads [TS]

00:15:27   into the season finale of agents of [TS]

00:15:30   shield is when Edward Edward James Olmos [TS]

00:15:32   appears and asks the the community of [TS]

00:15:36   super-powered people up in the mountains [TS]

00:15:38   to fill out some forms that live like [TS]

00:15:40   literally that is think the answer that [TS]

00:15:43   has killed the answer is murder and that [TS]

00:15:45   and that is why and also dangerous [TS]

00:15:47   rumors around them up clearly you get [TS]

00:15:49   like paperwork legit [TS]

00:15:51   well if they had done more to show in [TS]

00:15:53   humans actually being terrifying to [TS]

00:15:55   people because they did they finally to [TS]

00:15:57   the agent may backstory thing and which [TS]

00:16:00   was good i thought that the thing is [TS]

00:16:02   that episode is brutal because it shows [TS]

00:16:05   it shows how work relationships can get [TS]

00:16:09   and how terrifying you can be if [TS]

00:16:10   somebody has a power and is not [TS]

00:16:12   controlling factors in any way or [TS]

00:16:14   they're very young and if we have seen [TS]

00:16:16   more stuff like that to justify the [TS]

00:16:18   hatred and fear that other people had it [TS]

00:16:21   might make more sense like maize maze [TS]

00:16:23   beef is legit because you had to take [TS]

00:16:25   out a kid and she saw an army of mind [TS]

00:16:27   control zombies and and all that [TS]

00:16:29   um and to be frank I wouldn't mind if [TS]

00:16:32   someone took out sky because i think [TS]

00:16:34   that she's kind of a drag on the whole [TS]

00:16:36   show there for your four sho reasons i [TS]

00:16:39   see why you'd want to take out sky but [TS]

00:16:41   she's proven herself loyal she's got [TS]

00:16:43   powers now [TS]

00:16:44   like with Deathlock right i mean i just [TS]

00:16:46   don't understand the internal logic of [TS]

00:16:47   the show saying you know other than they [TS]

00:16:50   want to create some conflict with yeah [TS]

00:16:52   so we'll create some other shield agents [TS]

00:16:54   were they didn't the x-men to its [TS]

00:16:57   excellent i really can't say mutants [TS]

00:16:59   miss universe because legal blah blah [TS]

00:17:01   yeah but you know one of the things that [TS]

00:17:03   has always struck me as kind of weird [TS]

00:17:04   about the x-men is how everybody's [TS]

00:17:06   knee-jerk reaction [TS]

00:17:07   this is described as a mutant when some [TS]

00:17:08   of these mutants are doing kid can do [TS]

00:17:10   things like you know heal the sick or [TS]

00:17:13   teleport things at mission critical [TS]

00:17:15   moments or be thought infrastructure and [TS]

00:17:18   I think maybe you have to just eat you [TS]

00:17:21   have to question the trope that [TS]

00:17:22   super-powered people are inherently [TS]

00:17:24   worth being feared so that's that's our [TS]

00:17:26   that's the natural reaction or you you [TS]

00:17:28   have to kind of commit to the other way [TS]

00:17:30   which is super power people are [TS]

00:17:31   terrifying because they they have no [TS]

00:17:33   internal governance and they enjoy [TS]

00:17:34   wreaking havoc and one of the things [TS]

00:17:37   that agents of shield does it just it it [TS]

00:17:39   doesn't ever hit consistent tone like if [TS]

00:17:42   you find a colony of of super-powered [TS]

00:17:43   people who are off on their own not [TS]

00:17:45   bothering anybody i don't i don't really [TS]

00:17:47   understand why everybody freaks out and [TS]

00:17:48   thinks we need to bring you know fighter [TS]

00:17:50   jets on scramble unless they fill out [TS]

00:17:53   our forms but I just wait that would [TS]

00:17:55   work for me better is if giant have [TS]

00:17:57   actually been like building up to a war [TS]

00:17:59   anyway and nobody realize it because she [TS]

00:18:01   was she was right about Eileen fishers [TS]

00:18:03   and master vibe but you know it just [TS]

00:18:06   that that kind of came out of nowhere [TS]

00:18:08   all said she does the big heel turn and [TS]

00:18:10   you realize that ok cal is crazy but [TS]

00:18:12   he's not the villain here she is [TS]

00:18:13   which they by the way actually like [TS]

00:18:15   spill out yeah listen last episode where [TS]

00:18:18   you know she's a monster you've known [TS]

00:18:19   all along that I was like oh really i [TS]

00:18:21   think giving the building up to a cap 3 [TS]

00:18:23   and the Civil War stashe see now guy you [TS]

00:18:27   just point out exactly why i hate the [TS]

00:18:30   show and I watch it but it's essentially [TS]

00:18:34   a commercial it is a commercial for the [TS]

00:18:37   marvel cinematic universe and they only [TS]

00:18:40   build up to something interesting when [TS]

00:18:42   it's movie release date time I disagree [TS]

00:18:45   with that as far as far as of Asia [TS]

00:18:46   Ultron's i think that the age of Ultron [TS]

00:18:48   stuff they put in was totally [TS]

00:18:49   unnecessary their libraries don't [TS]

00:18:51   exaggerate [TS]

00:18:52   they did not i love the captain america [TS]

00:18:54   stuffed in age of Ultron so much more [TS]

00:18:57   thanks to having watched I'm Peggy you [TS]

00:19:00   know that the picnic party commissaries [TS]

00:19:01   because they that ok that was an awesome [TS]

00:19:03   miniseries and it flushes her out a lot [TS]

00:19:05   more than she gets in Captain America [TS]

00:19:06   where she's still got some character and [TS]

00:19:08   somebody tell me started age of Ultron [TS]

00:19:09   like it's my friend Peggy and all [TS]

00:19:11   there's so much pain goes to this but it [TS]

00:19:14   doesn't translate the other way at all [TS]

00:19:16   and I was also kind of disappointed that [TS]

00:19:18   we didn't get it [TS]

00:19:19   samuel l jackson the season because for [TS]

00:19:21   me the highlight of the end of the first [TS]

00:19:23   season of agents of shield is when [TS]

00:19:24   Samuel Jackson shows up in a helicopter [TS]

00:19:26   and is all grabbed my hand and I was [TS]

00:19:29   like oh this is so great and this year [TS]

00:19:33   it's you know setting up Ward who is [TS]

00:19:35   like a b-list villain at best to be like [TS]

00:19:37   the new Dennis's and i really like [TS]

00:19:40   psychotic bored i'm sorry i really [TS]

00:19:41   really enjoy that character i really [TS]

00:19:44   enjoyed I really bored out of his mind [TS]

00:19:46   I just I just enjoy how to he's just [TS]

00:19:50   he's just so crazy like he's just so [TS]

00:19:52   crazy really hobby you actually enjoy [TS]

00:19:55   you just find him refreshing vitamin [TS]

00:19:58   vanilla ward [TS]

00:20:00   I well I definitely find I definitely [TS]

00:20:02   find a find him refreshing compared to [TS]

00:20:04   first season board who is just dollars [TS]

00:20:06   and host how was the best part of the [TS]

00:20:08   whole yes i was saying it was full [TS]

00:20:10   credit problem with Lachlan great lot of [TS]

00:20:12   fun huge amount of fun i I'm with dan in [TS]

00:20:16   that i think i think that i enjoyed the [TS]

00:20:18   sort of third turn on ward where he sort [TS]

00:20:21   of like he's killed his family he's left [TS]

00:20:23   Hydra he's kind of okay he's in a good [TS]

00:20:25   place in that he's you know an evil [TS]

00:20:27   freelancer but he's like a good he's [TS]

00:20:30   inescapable questions he's figured out [TS]

00:20:31   what he needs to be and he's got a [TS]

00:20:33   relationship he's got a girlfriend yeah [TS]

00:20:35   even when they do that though I i like [TS]

00:20:36   that they resist trying to redeem him [TS]

00:20:38   anyway like yes he kind of almost has a [TS]

00:20:41   soft side and make they have to work [TS]

00:20:42   with them but it's never like oh we re [TS]

00:20:43   accepted you like there's that great bit [TS]

00:20:45   in the like 1pm out the penultimate [TS]

00:20:47   episode where they get like it's [TS]

00:20:48   literally the original cast from the [TS]

00:20:50   original CS and it's like the dynamics [TS]

00:20:53   are all different i thought that was a [TS]

00:20:55   really great that wasn't like that [TS]

00:20:56   episode just because it was like nobody [TS]

00:20:59   has forgiven him and everybody like even [TS]

00:21:01   every scene where he's like okay I'm [TS]

00:21:03   giving you the briefing on this they're [TS]

00:21:04   like yeah we know what i hear ya you [TS]

00:21:07   just go to like that is realistic [TS]

00:21:09   because if somebody did that to you guys [TS]

00:21:11   you would not like even if you had to [TS]

00:21:12   work with them you would not like it you [TS]

00:21:14   would not be softened on the middle and [TS]

00:21:15   I enjoy that dynamic i like how yandex [TS]

00:21:17   co-worker who kept trying to kill him [TS]

00:21:18   and get another Pinot yes I kinky just [TS]

00:21:22   have to keep thinking it would be so [TS]

00:21:24   much more interesting i mean i like [TS]

00:21:26   Coulson Coulson is fine but like a much [TS]

00:21:28   more interesting show would be like [TS]

00:21:29   death lock and i'll say it like Scott [TS]

00:21:32   naughty sky with powers and Bobby which [TS]

00:21:34   is a great addition we get the tire from [TS]

00:21:36   friday night lights and she's kicking [TS]

00:21:38   asses Mockingbird right that's that [TS]

00:21:40   there's some good in fact you could [TS]

00:21:41   argue that they could just sort of let [TS]

00:21:43   the old characters go away and the new [TS]

00:21:45   characters which they introduced this [TS]

00:21:47   season are more interesting [TS]

00:21:50   I feel like they're there would be a [TS]

00:21:51   good show in there and yet what they [TS]

00:21:53   seem to dwell on more than not is this [TS]

00:21:56   it is like they're they're so committed [TS]

00:21:58   to their original actors and their [TS]

00:21:59   original boring premise instead of just [TS]

00:22:01   completely checking out and saying you [TS]

00:22:04   know now we're essentially shields got [TS]

00:22:06   its own sort of semi super team that [TS]

00:22:08   depth fights crimes sounds like was used [TS]

00:22:10   and incidentally might say thanks to you [TS]

00:22:12   yeah that made that may be where they go [TS]

00:22:14   and have to give the thumbs-up to also i [TS]

00:22:16   think that they did you unlock as much [TS]

00:22:18   as I think flashing arrow which we will [TS]

00:22:21   talk about it some point are probably [TS]

00:22:23   better shows i have to give full credit [TS]

00:22:25   agents of shield for having certainly [TS]

00:22:28   the most female characters who are [TS]

00:22:29   probably the most three-dimensional I [TS]

00:22:31   think evolution is true a lot a lot of [TS]

00:22:35   female characters that are strongly [TS]

00:22:36   developed which is great [TS]

00:22:37   I a decently diverse cast which is also [TS]

00:22:40   good [TS]

00:22:41   I mean and I think something that a lot [TS]

00:22:42   of the other shows that we like are [TS]

00:22:44   lacking and I think that that's there [TS]

00:22:47   are a lot of things that have hampered [TS]

00:22:48   that show and held it back i believe [TS]

00:22:50   that unlike Gotham which i think you [TS]

00:22:51   know despite arguing that there was a [TS]

00:22:53   good show in there somewhere i really [TS]

00:22:54   think that that's it's pretty much a law [TS]

00:22:56   student ID on the other words whereas [TS]

00:22:58   agents of shield I think it's [TS]

00:22:59   salvageable I think there's good stuff [TS]

00:23:01   under I kind of feel like like dollhouse [TS]

00:23:03   another another just we can show I feel [TS]

00:23:05   like they're they're sort of so trapped [TS]

00:23:06   in their original premise that they [TS]

00:23:08   literally would have to have the [TS]

00:23:09   fortitude to just Chuck the premise at [TS]

00:23:11   which point i don't know why they [TS]

00:23:12   wouldn't just cancel the show and [TS]

00:23:14   replace it with a new Marvel theme show [TS]

00:23:15   that had a better premise but because [TS]

00:23:17   you know that the shield stuff is just [TS]

00:23:19   kind of boring but they have introduced [TS]

00:23:21   good characters this year so there's [TS]

00:23:24   hope that they could respawn it into [TS]

00:23:26   something that was more interesting than [TS]

00:23:27   than what they've done up to now it's [TS]

00:23:29   just I don't know there's something when [TS]

00:23:31   they have like the shadow shield coming [TS]

00:23:33   out with ever james olmos the body to [TS]

00:23:35   that and I actually think the mistake [TS]

00:23:38   they made was bringing Coulson back and [TS]

00:23:40   this is not because the actor who is is [TS]

00:23:42   great at what he did Clark races great [TS]

00:23:45   and I love him in the movies but the [TS]

00:23:47   weird paradox is the more you see him on [TS]

00:23:49   the show the less you get a sense of the [TS]

00:23:50   character at this point he's just like a [TS]

00:23:52   dude in a suit who says drivable quite [TS]

00:23:54   as cryptic things and has a plan that [TS]

00:23:56   you'll find out later and like his hand [TS]

00:23:58   and has projected all it has projected [TS]

00:24:00   his desperate need for an emotional life [TS]

00:24:02   onto his agent since in like weird muted [TS]

00:24:04   ways because he's got his to surrogate [TS]

00:24:06   daughters in in Gemma and by now at but [TS]

00:24:11   I don't think he adds anything to the [TS]

00:24:13   show anymore and his whole business with [TS]

00:24:16   the Tahiti reveal was kind enough to [TS]

00:24:18   release regarding this and I get that [TS]

00:24:20   they had to do that to get to the [TS]

00:24:21   inhuman since the aliens and it ties [TS]

00:24:23   into the next stage of the whole marble [TS]

00:24:24   verse and I actually think that's the [TS]

00:24:26   biggest handicap the show has it has to [TS]

00:24:28   act as a house organ for for people to [TS]

00:24:31   remind them that you're you have this [TS]

00:24:32   incomprehensible slew of movies where [TS]

00:24:34   you have to collect all the stone dry [TS]

00:24:36   that like they refer to the create a [TS]

00:24:39   couple points and you had and just this [TS]

00:24:42   and and I thought this is tricky and [TS]

00:24:43   complicated and people who watch TV to [TS]

00:24:46   escape are not going to want to do this [TS]

00:24:48   they're going to be much more or as if [TS]

00:24:50   it's a show where it's it's Deathlock [TS]

00:24:52   and mockingbird and agent May you know [TS]

00:24:55   jetting around the world and doing [TS]

00:24:56   awesome stuff that i would i would watch [TS]

00:24:58   that hard agree yeah and and the thing [TS]

00:25:00   the reason i just heard dipped in and [TS]

00:25:02   and and I you know I came back to it at [TS]

00:25:04   the end of season one and I loved the [TS]

00:25:05   way they resolved bill paxton that was [TS]

00:25:07   yes so beautiful it was and it was the [TS]

00:25:10   ultimate Whedon bad big bad ending right [TS]

00:25:13   just a wonderful moment and so when [TS]

00:25:16   season to start like alright I'm on [TS]

00:25:18   board and and I just got bored and I [TS]

00:25:21   kept coming back through the season and [TS]

00:25:23   you and Edward James Olmos my cast ok [TS]

00:25:26   this is what the show needs it needs [TS]

00:25:28   this grounded authority figure that you [TS]

00:25:30   just you know [TS]

00:25:31   yeah and and then they kill them off ya [TS]

00:25:34   know he had a great point was shield [TS]

00:25:37   should be to that was ya day is nothing [TS]

00:25:39   that here are bobby was saying was wrong [TS]

00:25:41   about how they made they made him a [TS]

00:25:43   racist they made him totally freaked out [TS]

00:25:45   about the fact that they were powered [TS]

00:25:46   people everywhere and you should lock [TS]

00:25:47   sky up she's a thing right and it's just [TS]

00:25:50   ridiculous to predict that except this [TS]

00:25:52   guy couldn't control her powers that [TS]

00:25:53   well yeah okay they could they could [TS]

00:25:54   have made the narrative decision to save [TS]

00:25:56   these people are dangerous because [TS]

00:25:57   either [TS]

00:25:57   can't control their abilities where they [TS]

00:25:59   can and they choose to do in dangerous [TS]

00:26:00   ways like to cross from one of the [TS]

00:26:02   things I love about the flash is you [TS]

00:26:04   have a lot of supervillains her like I [TS]

00:26:05   have powers it's the whole I don't want [TS]

00:26:07   to cure cancer i want to turn people [TS]

00:26:08   into dinosaurs yes absolutely you know [TS]

00:26:11   and the Marvel problem is you have these [TS]

00:26:12   people i have these strange powers time [TS]

00:26:14   that I have a crisis of identity about [TS]

00:26:16   it in something all i can turn people [TS]

00:26:17   into dinosaur problem is is that almost [TS]

00:26:21   his character needed some nuance to say [TS]

00:26:23   look I know you like sky I know you've [TS]

00:26:25   trained her to be an agent she may be a [TS]

00:26:26   good agent but if she's not handling her [TS]

00:26:29   powers right she's a threat and we need [TS]

00:26:31   to take her off the board until we can [TS]

00:26:32   get that under control but instead what [TS]

00:26:34   he says is she it's a thing it's not [TS]

00:26:37   human it's a monster and that's just [TS]

00:26:39   ludicrous it's absolutely ridiculous [TS]

00:26:41   so almost they make him into this [TS]

00:26:43   villain essentially when he could have [TS]

00:26:46   been and looked like he might have been [TS]

00:26:48   a really interesting kind of [TS]

00:26:50   counterpoint to Clark Gregg and I [TS]

00:26:52   actually like that moment where he's [TS]

00:26:53   like you're right you should be in [TS]

00:26:54   charge of me and those I can't that yeah [TS]

00:26:56   that james edward james olmos will be [TS]

00:26:58   like it's like Miami Vice all over again [TS]

00:27:00   you gotta check with lieutenant Castillo [TS]

00:27:02   before you go out I i think i just got [TS]

00:27:04   frustrated and kind of fed up with the [TS]

00:27:06   show at that point when they introduced [TS]

00:27:07   the whole like separate shield faction [TS]

00:27:10   and I was just like this is too many [TS]

00:27:11   factions because there's their shield [TS]

00:27:13   and others other shield who both of them [TS]

00:27:15   think the other is bad and nitrogen and [TS]

00:27:17   hydrogen actions and there's hydra [TS]

00:27:19   people killing each other and their [TS]

00:27:20   people you know breaking cover to do [TS]

00:27:22   things and quadrant only human agent 33 [TS]

00:27:26   is getting pushed all around and like [TS]

00:27:28   like keeping track of where like [TS]

00:27:30   somebody who was like a hostage in a [TS]

00:27:31   bargaining chip with like it like it [TS]

00:27:33   like it just I mean maybe I'm dumb and a [TS]

00:27:35   bad person but i just thought it was [TS]

00:27:37   modeled yeah I had minutes and that's [TS]

00:27:39   the thing is you know I with with the [TS]

00:27:43   shows that work of all these superior [TS]

00:27:45   shows they're really lightly see [TS]

00:27:47   realized and then you have Gotham and [TS]

00:27:51   shield which are just so byzantine and [TS]

00:27:55   you can't just sit down and enjoy an [TS]

00:27:57   episode out of order [TS]

00:27:58   it's all absolutely not like comic books [TS]

00:28:00   where alina episode nice open with an [TS]

00:28:03   org chart showing you the current status [TS]

00:28:04   of the women too much maps with little [TS]

00:28:06   flags on him showing you where hide [TS]

00:28:08   as power we need to move on to agent [TS]

00:28:10   Carter but i'm going to use as a [TS]

00:28:12   transition I'm gonna want to enhance the [TS]

00:28:13   point that you just made which is when [TS]

00:28:16   agent Carter went off and shield came [TS]

00:28:18   back and they started up the first scene [TS]

00:28:20   of the first episode back I i watched [TS]

00:28:22   every episode of the show and I was like [TS]

00:28:24   I have no idea what's happening yeah I [TS]

00:28:26   don't know who and I like a pretty good [TS]

00:28:27   at what's happening and who's doing what [TS]

00:28:29   and all of that except game of thrones [TS]

00:28:31   because that's way too confusing [TS]

00:28:33   yeah and I was like I don't even [TS]

00:28:35   remember anything about the show and [TS]

00:28:37   that's a bad sign when you when you lose [TS]

00:28:39   the plot in nine weeks like any [TS]

00:28:43   specimens of the plot you are not doing [TS]

00:28:46   a good job at your show and it had a [TS]

00:28:49   previously on [TS]

00:28:50   oh yeah and I just imagined it you know [TS]

00:28:52   if I didn't have a property right yeah [TS]

00:28:55   yeah yeah just yeah obviously didn't [TS]

00:28:59   stick [TS]

00:29:00   I'd like to have you imagine a world [TS]

00:29:03   populated by superheroes it's a world [TS]

00:29:06   without spam or viruses are bounced [TS]

00:29:08   email it's a world where the previous [TS]

00:29:10   superhero all is one named mail route [TS]

00:29:14   imagine opening your email and see only [TS]

00:29:18   the legitimate nail that you want and [TS]

00:29:19   need to receive you can live in this [TS]

00:29:22   magical world you don't need to be a [TS]

00:29:23   superhero mail route has the super power [TS]

00:29:26   to make that a daily reality you don't [TS]

00:29:28   need to maintain any of your own [TS]

00:29:29   hardware software you sign up for mail [TS]

00:29:31   route you change the MX records on your [TS]

00:29:33   domain to point at mail route and that's [TS]

00:29:37   it [TS]

00:29:57   tools with you in mind there's an API [TS]

00:29:59   for easy account management and supports [TS]

00:30:01   all of the features that you would [TS]

00:30:02   expect from people handling your mail [TS]

00:30:04   including ldap and Active Directory pls [TS]

00:30:07   mail bagging man [TS]

00:30:20   it's simple and effective there's no [TS]

00:30:21   good reason not to try it i've been [TS]

00:30:23   using it for a couple of years now it [TS]

00:30:25   really works has filtered out huge [TS]

00:30:27   amounts of spam and if something does [TS]

00:30:29   get comment spam filter i get a daily [TS]

00:30:30   spam report i make one click that person [TS]

00:30:43   dotnet / smell right now that's mail [TS]

00:30:46   route dotnet / smell and thank you to [TS]

00:30:48   mail route for sponsoring the [TS]

00:30:50   uncomfortable [TS]

00:30:51   agent Carter let's see let's say nice [TS]

00:30:53   things about agent Carter because I [TS]

00:30:54   thought agent Carter was really good [TS]

00:30:55   beautifully shot yeah so stylish so [TS]

00:30:59   silent period specified period spy I [TS]

00:31:02   mean it's Marvel right but there's a [TS]

00:31:04   superhero we kind of thing but it's like [TS]

00:31:06   you know i love the fact that it was [TS]

00:31:07   more about likes actual spies and and [TS]

00:31:11   and all the period stuff was really well [TS]

00:31:12   done i thought and Peggy is really [TS]

00:31:14   Hayley Atwell is a good actress and I i [TS]

00:31:17   enjoyed her character in the fact that [TS]

00:31:19   she's put against the you know these [TS]

00:31:21   these awful people who basically [TS]

00:31:22   consider her a secretary even though we [TS]

00:31:24   know that she is a hero from world war [TS]

00:31:25   two it's like we're two is over honey [TS]

00:31:27   now get me some coffee greatest thing [TS]

00:31:30   about the show though is it shows how [TS]

00:31:31   difficult post-war readjustment was for [TS]

00:31:34   everybody because you know so often you [TS]

00:31:36   have these World War two narratives and [TS]

00:31:38   you know snap closed on shot of soldier [TS]

00:31:40   dipping nurse in to kiss fades to black [TS]

00:31:42   up come some tasteful serif font that [TS]

00:31:45   tells you how people live long and [TS]

00:31:46   prosper and instead you've got war [TS]

00:31:48   veterans who are all jacked up and [TS]

00:31:50   people who are living in the bodies that [TS]

00:31:51   got blown apart and women who had like [TS]

00:31:54   five or six years of unprecedented [TS]

00:31:56   autonomy and opportunity for being [TS]

00:31:58   crammed back into boxes and it was great [TS]

00:32:00   to see this all playing out [TS]

00:32:02   um I thought was a little heavy-handed [TS]

00:32:03   sometimes because surely some of these [TS]

00:32:05   dudes would have noticed that [TS]

00:32:06   hey that though the women and not like [TS]

00:32:09   people that have died was around during [TS]

00:32:10   the war were really confident there's no [TS]

00:32:11   reason whether or not now but for the [TS]

00:32:14   most part III thought it was a really [TS]

00:32:15   great look at post or shock and and [TS]

00:32:19   excellently to build up the creeping [TS]

00:32:20   threat of you know the red [TS]

00:32:22   the the black widows and the other spy [TS]

00:32:25   apparatus is that just kept taking the [TS]

00:32:27   distance Dottie was like one of my [TS]

00:32:29   favorite things about the show [TS]

00:32:30   yeah yeah well I have to say narratively [TS]

00:32:33   there's a there's a lot of that I think [TS]

00:32:34   this show me in terms of you know [TS]

00:32:36   putting up against agents of shield [TS]

00:32:38   shows what happens when you only have 13 [TS]

00:32:40   episodes deal within 23 or whatever if [TS]

00:32:43   you can you get only three [TS]

00:32:44   yeah yeah very sorry is even less right [TS]

00:32:46   yeah so there's an economy there right [TS]

00:32:48   you can do that you can do a serialize [TS]

00:32:50   show in a dense and that's what is it [TS]

00:32:53   it's a story it's a items extra rent and [TS]

00:32:55   that's I think one of the best choices [TS]

00:32:57   they made here was was doing a show that [TS]

00:32:58   is not 20 items as long because [TS]

00:33:00   invariably within that you have to go [TS]

00:33:02   down all these little dead ends and [TS]

00:33:03   called the Saxon trying to craft an [TS]

00:33:05   overall message that doesn't just get [TS]

00:33:07   like oh we introduced a problem this [TS]

00:33:09   weekend it got resolved in like five [TS]

00:33:11   episodes see why I don't see why long [TS]

00:33:13   series and I refer to almost all the [TS]

00:33:16   ones that were talking about is why you [TS]

00:33:17   couldn't just jump into like three [TS]

00:33:19   groups of seven episodes of peace and [TS]

00:33:21   kind of what they tried with arrows here [TS]

00:33:22   and had mixed results [TS]

00:33:24   yeah you're right because because i have [TS]

00:33:26   had a hard time back there anyway to get [TS]

00:33:27   back to agent Carter it works you're [TS]

00:33:29   right you were because it was shorter [TS]

00:33:31   um I also think it worked because [TS]

00:33:34   they're not constrained by modernity if [TS]

00:33:36   that makes sense like you really could [TS]

00:33:38   double down on the music and the [TS]

00:33:39   aesthetics like one of the most knockout [TS]

00:33:42   sequences in the Premier thing that got [TS]

00:33:44   me hooked was when Peggy uses her [TS]

00:33:47   lipstick to take a guy out in the office [TS]

00:33:48   and she's in that beautiful dress and [TS]

00:33:51   she's got on that platinum wig and the [TS]

00:33:54   everything from the set decoration to [TS]

00:33:56   the music it's like a really beautiful [TS]

00:33:58   toxic dream and I was like I'm you never [TS]

00:34:02   seen anything like that on agents of [TS]

00:34:03   shield never liked the other fight [TS]

00:34:07   sequences were just so beautiful like [TS]

00:34:08   the first time the dot that dot does the [TS]

00:34:10   Parker off-the-wall grabs the guys [TS]

00:34:11   almost kills him was amazing i swear i [TS]

00:34:14   watch that sequence like five times [TS]

00:34:16   because i was so mesmerized by watching [TS]

00:34:18   her legs move the way they moved and [TS]

00:34:20   this show which is beautiful and stylish [TS]

00:34:21   it was like a permaculture box although [TS]

00:34:24   the radio drama [TS]

00:34:25   did you know with the fight ya narrated [TS]

00:34:27   in 30 John David I know you day that [TS]

00:34:29   that would probably did for you [TS]

00:34:31   well i was gonna say you know [TS]

00:34:33   considering all the radio theater stuff [TS]

00:34:34   it doesn't surprise any [TS]

00:34:36   anybody that I loved to the show I mean [TS]

00:34:37   this you know of all the shows I've [TS]

00:34:40   watched this year this was one of the [TS]

00:34:41   few where I said they're going i want to [TS]

00:34:43   write this one you know because I've [TS]

00:34:45   been and and especially the the bit [TS]

00:34:48   where they do you know the radio version [TS]

00:34:50   of agent Carter is nothing at all like [TS]

00:34:53   agent Carter yeah and you know it's is [TS]

00:34:56   it was just beautifully beautifully done [TS]

00:34:59   i wanted to point out the the most [TS]

00:35:00   important weirdness of agent Carter [TS]

00:35:03   which I loved and yet was baffled by [TS]

00:35:05   which is the concept that somebody is [TS]

00:35:07   employed as an automat waitress that [TS]

00:35:10   makes you don't got no automatic doesn't [TS]

00:35:14   have that you just go to put in your [TS]

00:35:16   coin and you get the food that there's [TS]

00:35:18   no service in the autumn but they [TS]

00:35:19   created this automat diner which is kind [TS]

00:35:22   of hilarious but baffling at the same [TS]

00:35:24   time because it doesn't work like that [TS]

00:35:26   that's not what that is maybe it's like [TS]

00:35:27   employee people to pleasure you just got [TS]

00:35:29   real drinks [TS]

00:35:30   yeah automat waitress that's what does a [TS]

00:35:32   bad job and left the automat and it in [TS]

00:35:35   one reason is it's probably too back to [TS]

00:35:37   like 67 track that it would be in the [TS]

00:35:39   CAF and it could push button and get [TS]

00:35:41   like a bunch of colored cubes church [TS]

00:35:43   maybe it's the nutritional foam hi i [TS]

00:35:46   also want to put a good word in for [TS]

00:35:48   James D'Arcy as chart and Edwin Jarvis [TS]

00:35:52   who I thought was a here i thought he [TS]

00:35:54   and Peggy have really good chemistry [TS]

00:35:55   together they work really well together [TS]

00:35:57   and I and I i do like a dominic monaghan [TS]

00:36:00   as as Howard start to I think that three [TS]

00:36:03   the three of them do a heavy you know a [TS]

00:36:05   good sort of report and it's a lot of [TS]

00:36:08   fun watching them unlike a lot of shows [TS]

00:36:10   on television the showrunners are women [TS]

00:36:12   which is a nice yeah they did Reaper [TS]

00:36:14   which wasn't which there are things [TS]

00:36:17   about Reaper that I really liked have to [TS]

00:36:20   get that show had known it had no right [TS]

00:36:22   to be that funny but it it was not [TS]

00:36:25   amazingly well done doing right yeah it [TS]

00:36:27   really won't go ahead and when they [TS]

00:36:28   brought on michael ian black and Ken [TS]

00:36:32   Marino as the fall as the fallen angel / [TS]

00:36:34   demons and realize and it like they got [TS]

00:36:38   a balance of of deep heavy stuff and and [TS]

00:36:41   and really funny quality and stuff right [TS]

00:36:43   and I would hope they would do that a [TS]

00:36:46   little bit more in season 2 of Asia [TS]

00:36:48   Carter [TS]

00:36:49   is this one did get bogged down a little [TS]

00:36:51   bit from time to time it'll end of them [TS]

00:36:53   to straight-faced but i'm so looking for [TS]

00:36:56   the season 2i can't wait to this also [TS]

00:36:58   i'm dying to find out for Peggy Mary's [TS]

00:37:00   because they dropped a couple hints [TS]

00:37:02   about how she's interested matter has [TS]

00:37:03   been indirectly because of Captain [TS]

00:37:05   America and now who is it what happened [TS]

00:37:08   but i think it was a howling commando we [TS]

00:37:11   find out how my gosh I've always so [TS]

00:37:13   great to see Neil Donahoe again to life [TS]

00:37:15   that was nice [TS]

00:37:17   oh he was so easily missed that the [TS]

00:37:19   Howling Commandos buying I fast forward [TS]

00:37:21   into the future that's one of the sad [TS]

00:37:22   things about the first captain america [TS]

00:37:24   as we missed those characters we don't [TS]

00:37:25   get the chance to see them anymore [TS]

00:37:26   because we move on and live a whole [TS]

00:37:28   series about them and we must move on [TS]

00:37:30   now and talk about I'm sorry we have to [TS]

00:37:33   do it somebody somebody needs to speak [TS]

00:37:35   for John Constantine against the series [TS]

00:37:38   against well I just helping businesses [TS]

00:37:40   for him in the sense that he's that the [TS]

00:37:43   Constantine you know is exists dot well [TS]

00:37:47   forgot this place is dead they forget [TS]

00:37:51   it's really wonderful film it [TS]

00:37:53   the actor that plays John Constantine [TS]

00:37:55   look like John Constantine good 20 cast [TS]

00:37:58   a good job back and I think easy of the [TS]

00:38:01   rest of that I would be pretty [TS]

00:38:02   complicated if they wanted to show [TS]

00:38:03   throughout the rest of the show and just [TS]

00:38:05   like remake make a new show with him [TS]

00:38:07   still as John Constantine [TS]

00:38:09   I would watch that show i think that the [TS]

00:38:11   problem is everything else to make sure [TS]

00:38:13   the writing all the side characters [TS]

00:38:15   applauding it's slightly entertaining [TS]

00:38:17   that suffers from the sky thing where [TS]

00:38:19   everybody thinks she's much more [TS]

00:38:20   interesting than she actually is and [TS]

00:38:22   yeah good production values to actually [TS]

00:38:25   the production values that you are [TS]

00:38:27   actually top-notch but it just it hangs [TS]

00:38:29   on a bad story he needs to be a season [TS]

00:38:31   of supernatural is what he needs to be [TS]

00:38:33   he's crazy charismatic in the role and [TS]

00:38:35   he's actually it was a little nervous [TS]

00:38:37   like yeah this is pretty much how he [TS]

00:38:39   jumps off the covers of the trades i [TS]

00:38:40   have heard for John Constance is how i [TS]

00:38:42   imagined in my head and then everything [TS]

00:38:44   else around it was like this weird [TS]

00:38:46   boring pseudo x5 was not was like and [TS]

00:38:49   rejected fringe fringe group and Harold [TS]

00:38:51   Harold Perrineau deserves better too [TS]

00:38:54   because one of the things I've always [TS]

00:38:55   enjoyed about him is how easily he rides [TS]

00:38:57   that one of ambiguity like all these [TS]

00:38:58   greatest roles have always been of [TS]

00:39:00   people who want to be good [TS]

00:39:03   and have huge flaws in nature and so [TS]

00:39:05   having him as an angel with a really [TS]

00:39:07   ambivalent agenda like he could've had a [TS]

00:39:10   great part and they just wrote him as oh [TS]

00:39:13   and now here's some exposition and how [TS]

00:39:15   here's a complication been thrown [TS]

00:39:16   because well we have to have something [TS]

00:39:17   to burn up 20 minutes and you know it [TS]

00:39:20   was a wasted two really good actors and [TS]

00:39:22   so I just just skip the show [TS]

00:39:25   don't do what I did which is like skip [TS]

00:39:26   through and watch the end go wait what [TS]

00:39:28   oh actually i guess i got is yeah can we [TS]

00:39:31   take Donald Logue from Gotham and recast [TS]

00:39:34   him his chance because I feel like he'd [TS]

00:39:35   be more fun [TS]

00:39:36   I think so maybe maybe we just we just [TS]

00:39:38   start like something to kick-start a [TS]

00:39:39   rescue actress from their contracts and [TS]

00:39:41   put them in the shows we think they [TS]

00:39:42   deserve to be and it it can we also to [TS]

00:39:46   talk for a moment about just the fact [TS]

00:39:47   that this is an example of the cheap [TS]

00:39:49   look like cheap TV producer syndrome [TS]

00:39:51   where they made a pilot they decided to [TS]

00:39:54   do to get rid of the actress who is [TS]

00:39:56   playing one of the characters and [TS]

00:39:57   replace that part with a different [TS]

00:39:59   character and rather than rather than go [TS]

00:40:02   out with her best foot forward they just [TS]

00:40:03   decided to attack like a a change in the [TS]

00:40:06   last 30 seconds of the pilot and say oh [TS]

00:40:08   but then she went away and somebody new [TS]

00:40:09   appeared yeah okay it's just like that [TS]

00:40:12   is not a way to launch a show is by [TS]

00:40:14   introducing you two characters and then [TS]

00:40:15   having one of them just unceremoniously [TS]

00:40:17   dumped at the end of the hour in about [TS]

00:40:19   30 seconds and to me because I've seen [TS]

00:40:21   her she's been another stuff and she's [TS]

00:40:23   actually a pretty good actors too but [TS]

00:40:24   that part was awful and they made her do [TS]

00:40:26   an American accent which not good so [TS]

00:40:28   they should I mean and if you want to [TS]

00:40:30   make a change after the pilot that [TS]

00:40:31   totally do that but you know you spend [TS]

00:40:33   money and you know fix the pilot and [TS]

00:40:36   reshoot the pilot to reshoot those [TS]

00:40:37   scenes in the pilot but to just do that [TS]

00:40:39   and you just jerk around in it in our [TS]

00:40:41   one you've jerked around the viewers i [TS]

00:40:42   do this is Lucy Griffiths they recast [TS]

00:40:44   rate yes [TS]

00:40:45   yeah this needs to be a six-episode BBC [TS]

00:40:48   show instead or something yeah oh yeah [TS]

00:40:50   she's gonna be on purpose she's gonna be [TS]

00:40:52   on preacher so she's got a time [TS]

00:40:54   um I'm looking for her that I'm looking [TS]

00:40:59   for [TS]

00:40:59   well so Constantine was a failure and [TS]

00:41:02   something nobody really wants to defend [TS]

00:41:04   it particularly so maybe it's all for [TS]

00:41:06   the best I think what I would like to [TS]

00:41:08   see i would like to see that Ryan is the [TS]

00:41:10   character shop on Lucifer just as an odd [TS]

00:41:12   uh and an easter egg type thing you know [TS]

00:41:15   Lucifer just gonna be worse right [TS]

00:41:17   yeah because because that because the [TS]

00:41:18   premise which would have made Lucifer [TS]

00:41:19   great which is the devil runs a piano [TS]

00:41:21   bar and everyone space with the love [TS]

00:41:23   boat which is what it should be is has [TS]

00:41:25   been turned into instead the devil [TS]

00:41:27   freelances a criminal investigator [TS]

00:41:28   because why not [TS]

00:41:29   and I rent frog yes yeah I i would I did [TS]

00:41:34   like Stephen Amell from aero suggesting [TS]

00:41:36   that they if Netflix rescued Constantine [TS]

00:41:38   he would guest star on it and I was like [TS]

00:41:40   because they would go to him for advice [TS]

00:41:41   about the Lazarus pits and I was like [TS]

00:41:43   that would be very interesting but I [TS]

00:41:45   feel like as soon as you coexist those [TS]

00:41:47   two universes you have some weirdo and [TS]

00:41:49   stuff [TS]

00:41:50   let's move on then from Constantine we [TS]

00:41:53   don't speak no no further ill of the [TS]

00:41:55   Dead and we'll move over to our friends [TS]

00:41:57   at the CW where we have the Flash [TS]

00:42:00   premiering this this year and we have [TS]

00:42:03   arrow coming back for a third season [TS]

00:42:05   let's start with let's start with the [TS]

00:42:07   incumbent and talk about arrow now guy [TS]

00:42:10   and dan you guys talked about arrow all [TS]

00:42:13   year [TS]

00:42:14   how do you how do you let's start with [TS]

00:42:16   you about how do you feel about this [TS]

00:42:17   some this season of arrow takeaways am [TS]

00:42:21   sadly disjointed I think his visit one [TS]

00:42:25   of the biggest problems with it which is [TS]

00:42:26   that it had very unclear through lines [TS]

00:42:28   in terms of where was going to go in [TS]

00:42:30   every few episode seems like we're gonna [TS]

00:42:32   go in a totally different direction now [TS]

00:42:34   but i think the biggest problem that we [TS]

00:42:35   identified and talked about a lot is [TS]

00:42:37   that we have coming off a year with a [TS]

00:42:39   great villain in Slade Wilson we we get [TS]

00:42:43   instead [TS]

00:42:44   Rachel ghoul who should be this really [TS]

00:42:45   imposing creepy figure but Rachel [TS]

00:42:48   doesn't really seem to have any sort of [TS]

00:42:49   goals or motivation other than just [TS]

00:42:52   having a really cool secret organization [TS]

00:42:55   which made him really difficult to deal [TS]

00:42:58   with as a character because all he [TS]

00:43:00   really seemed to care about was like the [TS]

00:43:01   internal organization of his of his [TS]

00:43:03   little group of assassins like I guess [TS]

00:43:05   up a succession plan and if you set them [TS]

00:43:07   down really what it what do you need to [TS]

00:43:09   thank you doing [TS]

00:43:11   it's where do you see the League of [TS]

00:43:13   Assassins in five year he just needed [TS]

00:43:15   like a good estate planner as a lawyer [TS]

00:43:17   like that but that's not even the issue [TS]

00:43:19   the issue is what is the League of [TS]

00:43:20   Assassins do it's never made clear we [TS]

00:43:23   spend an entire see it today they did [TS]

00:43:25   they do the seating and the brackets and [TS]

00:43:27   then you know it's mainly just capture [TS]

00:43:29   the flag environment plz so they also [TS]

00:43:32   kill people occasionally but that's more [TS]

00:43:33   of a side project just to pay for the [TS]

00:43:35   BBQ yes that's right [TS]

00:43:37   so I think there are still a lot of [TS]

00:43:38   great moments there are certainly a lot [TS]

00:43:40   of great i mean the mid-season break [TS]

00:43:42   which ends with Oliver getting stabbed [TS]

00:43:45   in falling off a cliff [TS]

00:43:46   even though you were pretty sure that he [TS]

00:43:47   was coming back we still really well [TS]

00:43:49   done i especially like Stephen amell's [TS]

00:43:51   tweet after that well as run well played [TS]

00:43:54   yeah yeah that was good that was early [TS]

00:43:56   for a midseason finale [TS]

00:43:59   it was just like all my girls were just [TS]

00:44:01   like old movies a gas before the scene [TS]

00:44:04   yeah I'll give you that but i think that [TS]

00:44:06   there are the back half of the season [TS]

00:44:07   just it was it was tricky to get into [TS]

00:44:11   the heads of the characters Oliver sort [TS]

00:44:13   of double his plan is unclear and kind [TS]

00:44:17   of changes from moment to moment there's [TS]

00:44:19   lots of weaknesses and a lot of things [TS]

00:44:21   that could be involved by the while the [TS]

00:44:23   old it's the old TV problem of like look [TS]

00:44:26   if you just told a few people what your [TS]

00:44:28   plan was like I just explained this [TS]

00:44:30   ahead of time you put something in [TS]

00:44:31   writing and sign it and yeah like that [TS]

00:44:33   would really solve a lot of problems and [TS]

00:44:35   angst I think for me like the Rajah gold [TS]

00:44:38   character like I i wasn't really [TS]

00:44:41   familiar with makes up for you know son [TS]

00:44:44   of the demon and you know Liam Neeson [TS]

00:44:47   plan B estonia and and he was really [TS]

00:44:49   don't like heat like again that writing [TS]

00:44:52   explained his purpose a little [TS]

00:44:54   differently and if he felt intimidating [TS]

00:44:57   that I go through and I sweep out what [TS]

00:45:00   needs to be swept that no one else will [TS]

00:45:02   do but you know this rise me not [TS]

00:45:06   somebody and when you know we talk a lot [TS]

00:45:08   guy night and and John let's talk a lot [TS]

00:45:10   about you know the racial and other [TS]

00:45:12   forms including conflicts and the batman [TS]

00:45:14   animated series which is a a even even [TS]

00:45:17   that is a better person every no terrors [TS]

00:45:20   and [TS]

00:45:20   the League of Assassins right right [TS]

00:45:22   there is like again this sort of like [TS]

00:45:24   global conflict right that they probably [TS]

00:45:25   taken but this this league of assassins [TS]

00:45:27   kind of toothless and they there's a lot [TS]

00:45:30   of time traveling back and forth to [TS]

00:45:31   Nanda Parbat via some magical super [TS]

00:45:33   subway that goes through the middle of [TS]

00:45:35   the earth or something it only takes 20 [TS]

00:45:36   minutes [TS]

00:45:36   everything takes 20 minutes from Star [TS]

00:45:38   City though because they're always [TS]

00:45:39   popping back to the island where nobody [TS]

00:45:41   thought to look for all over 45 years [TS]

00:45:42   and yeah it's it's that's one of the [TS]

00:45:45   perpetual mysteries on that show they [TS]

00:45:46   got fastjet's good just like magic [TS]

00:45:49   public transit ok Starling city has a [TS]

00:45:51   lot of infrastructure problems [TS]

00:45:52   especially after they lost a whole [TS]

00:45:53   section C due to earthquake but great [TS]

00:45:55   public transit let me hear guy guy [TS]

00:45:57   what's your what's your take on on arrow [TS]

00:46:00   season 3 [TS]

00:46:00   what do you think that they did blew it [TS]

00:46:02   haha guys must you think of me at the [TS]

00:46:06   end of season two when I had to rush [TS]

00:46:08   i'll go is gonna be on it I was worried [TS]

00:46:10   because I thought that was biting off a [TS]

00:46:12   lot also seemed like there was more [TS]

00:46:16   interesting things to do with the [TS]

00:46:17   character at the beginning of the season [TS]

00:46:21   I had high hopes will they date to kill [TS]

00:46:23   Sarah which really upset me because she [TS]

00:46:27   had I love my character I like that [TS]

00:46:29   actress blood and she has a big role of [TS]

00:46:31   the interim management yeah so that was [TS]

00:46:33   like what was that kind of shocked me at [TS]

00:46:34   that you know by the end of season two [TS]

00:46:37   had placed a lot of fate of the writers [TS]

00:46:39   by the end of season three that faith is [TS]

00:46:41   shaken quite a bit and I don't know how [TS]

00:46:45   much of it is that maybe the showrunners [TS]

00:46:48   we were focused on launching the flash [TS]

00:46:50   which we'll talk about but they did a [TS]

00:46:52   tremendous job on or at you know I don't [TS]

00:46:56   know they were trying to outdo the slave [TS]

00:46:57   wheels and plot by being even more [TS]

00:46:59   sleepy willfully i don't i don't really [TS]

00:47:01   get what they were doing [TS]

00:47:03   we did see the short shake up a lot i'm [TS]

00:47:06   in characters coming and going and I [TS]

00:47:08   think we're set up for the next season i [TS]

00:47:11   mean the next season has to be later [TS]

00:47:13   it just has to be there's no way it [TS]

00:47:14   can't be like darker than that [TS]

00:47:17   so about Brandon how about brand around [TS]

00:47:20   for his red Palmer honey i love it i [TS]

00:47:22   love him i left i really liked him [TS]

00:47:24   Superman I thank you i did to that yeah [TS]

00:47:27   I think of anything the the lac I mean [TS]

00:47:30   that the the story of that Superman [TS]

00:47:32   Returns kind of [TS]

00:47:33   the train because I thought he did it [TS]

00:47:34   tremendous job with matt and i like to [TS]

00:47:37   my head like them on track to I think he [TS]

00:47:38   does a great job [TS]

00:47:39   my name is he's got great comedic timing [TS]

00:47:41   and he's often he was refreshing in this [TS]

00:47:43   season two with which is so tower at [TS]

00:47:46   points that he was kind of a break your [TS]

00:47:47   lifeline right he's the ralph bellamy of [TS]

00:47:50   modern love modern filmmaking where [TS]

00:47:53   Ralph Bellamy was that the Baxters that [TS]

00:47:56   were like the charming perfectly nice [TS]

00:47:57   guy that the heroine always throws over [TS]

00:47:59   for somebody who's just patently about [TS]

00:48:00   idea and the thing I really like about [TS]

00:48:02   Brandon's mouth is he basically owns it [TS]

00:48:05   at this point and I I think being kind [TS]

00:48:07   of a self-conscious dorky Baxter works [TS]

00:48:09   for him and I loved him on the flash [TS]

00:48:12   when Wendy and actually it [TS]

00:48:14   yeah when the antacid the atom is gonna [TS]

00:48:16   be on the flashes like sorry on era I [TS]

00:48:18   was like that can't possibly work that [TS]

00:48:20   makes no sense at all and thank goodness [TS]

00:48:23   she was there because he's like a [TS]

00:48:25   Ramirez image version of Tony Stark like [TS]

00:48:27   when you think about it because they're [TS]

00:48:28   both billionaire geniuses there's no [TS]

00:48:31   wonder it's used to clone he's like a [TS]

00:48:33   carbon como no except that Tony Stark [TS]

00:48:35   has his play with the ladies got chill [TS]

00:48:37   and I don't yeah you know Ray Palmer has [TS]

00:48:40   no chill is a big dork with be seen you [TS]

00:48:43   know every episode of dr who that's what [TS]

00:48:45   it's got going for him okay this season [TS]

00:48:47   they even made Felicity kinda really sad [TS]

00:48:51   most of the time yeah it's really good i [TS]

00:48:53   mean don't I i said was not a fan of um [TS]

00:48:57   so I I've always thought this show had a [TS]

00:49:00   dino problem and they actually fix the [TS]

00:49:03   diner problem this season and I love [TS]

00:49:04   with her character ended up I thought it [TS]

00:49:06   was phenomenal the way they character of [TS]

00:49:08   the way they worked on her character [TS]

00:49:09   this year I i am in the minority in [TS]

00:49:12   believing that they plausibly evolved [TS]

00:49:14   this woman who have a lot of anger and [TS]

00:49:15   not a lot of direction for it into [TS]

00:49:17   somebody who doesn't be besties with her [TS]

00:49:20   sisters ex girlfriend and becomes a much [TS]

00:49:22   more effective vigilante and I like the [TS]

00:49:24   estrangement between her and her dad [TS]

00:49:26   because that reads is really true these [TS]

00:49:27   are just two people who were who used to [TS]

00:49:29   count on each other and it was a huge [TS]

00:49:31   betrayal and i loved it [TS]

00:49:32   I'm going at 10 degree I I that's it i [TS]

00:49:36   don't like what they did with Felicity [TS]

00:49:37   because it feels like like the secret [TS]

00:49:40   origin story first of all dressing up [TS]

00:49:42   that after like a golf is just a mistake [TS]

00:49:43   but I [TS]

00:49:47   if you like they they try to jump the [TS]

00:49:49   shark feels like they're like family we [TS]

00:49:52   suppose we have to make her worthy of [TS]

00:49:55   this billionaire Archer vigilante come [TS]

00:49:58   foo fighter assassin dude so let's all [TS]

00:50:01   of a sudden make her quasi-independent [TS]

00:50:03   plays I wealthy courtesy of her job and [TS]

00:50:05   give her a bunch of promotions and now [TS]

00:50:06   she owns the company and she already was [TS]

00:50:09   a virtue of being awesome [TS]

00:50:11   well she was awesome yeah but yeah so [TS]

00:50:13   yeah I don't you don't you don't need [TS]

00:50:14   all the other stuff I i think i think [TS]

00:50:16   and i think i actually may have said [TS]

00:50:18   this in a flash cast like logically [TS]

00:50:20   speaking Oliver is the guy she might [TS]

00:50:22   have had someone for about six months [TS]

00:50:24   but I really feel like she would have [TS]

00:50:25   been better off with Ray and it would [TS]

00:50:27   not have hurt if the show had gone that [TS]

00:50:29   direction so for it to go to completely [TS]

00:50:30   different direction we're over the [TS]

00:50:32   Philistines the thing that saves all [TS]

00:50:33   over and cheese cheese happy ending at [TS]

00:50:35   the end of the season she's reward and [TS]

00:50:37   true love Rob Lowe like every time we [TS]

00:50:40   get there we had like maybe season 3 [TS]

00:50:42   will be like you know i was just [TS]

00:50:44   drinking can be bust-up with the girls [TS]

00:50:48   be drinkin shoot natural polish oh no [TS]

00:50:51   this this season did right by Dinah in [TS]

00:50:54   my opinion the season also did right by [TS]

00:50:55   thea and I like the greatest thing they [TS]

00:50:58   did for her the season in my opinion was [TS]

00:50:59   people stop lying to her and she got her [TS]

00:51:02   own power because light at the end of [TS]

00:51:04   last season it's so clear the reason she [TS]

00:51:06   runs off with Malcolm Merlyn issues like [TS]

00:51:08   holy crap my city has been taken over by [TS]

00:51:10   bioengineer assassin dudes and then and [TS]

00:51:14   then oh god it's like the greatest thing [TS]

00:51:15   I've her father with the arrows he takes [TS]

00:51:17   her away and it's so obvious why three [TS]

00:51:19   runs away and this whole season was [TS]

00:51:21   about her coming back and and forcing [TS]

00:51:22   people to be honest with her and owning [TS]

00:51:24   her power and owning her [TS]

00:51:25   responsibilities and they finally did [TS]

00:51:27   right by her oh yeah definitely didn't [TS]

00:51:30   want things to be seen one of the [TS]

00:51:31   reasons that I wanted to that I was [TS]

00:51:33   excited to flash flash flash flash cast [TS]

00:51:37   yeah yeah is that this was a week season [TS]

00:51:41   of the arrow but i do think that arrow [TS]

00:51:43   as lesson with a problem with women [TS]

00:51:47   characters than the flash those icy [TS]

00:51:49   brass today actually think flash has [TS]

00:51:52   been a more cohesive show this season [TS]

00:51:54   their characters have been the little [TS]

00:51:57   bit on the [TS]

00:51:59   maybe we should watch it fly no actually [TS]

00:52:02   episode so yeah if you're the most [TS]

00:52:04   interesting thing that they've done with [TS]

00:52:05   arrow this season's in setting up for [TS]

00:52:07   next season is the total basically [TS]

00:52:10   abolishment of the secret identity which [TS]

00:52:12   is to say everybody else on the show now [TS]

00:52:15   knows that Oliver Queen is the arrow the [TS]

00:52:17   arrow is basically dead for all the [TS]

00:52:19   attention Portland doesn't like secret [TS]

00:52:21   identity and and that's smart because [TS]

00:52:23   thatthat strokes but I mean like anybody [TS]

00:52:25   who watch more than a season of [TS]

00:52:26   Williston Clark got really boring to me [TS]

00:52:29   and and it just it's it's refreshing to [TS]

00:52:32   not have to deal with that even though [TS]

00:52:33   it can lend itself to dramatic irony at [TS]

00:52:35   certain points [TS]

00:52:36   I feel like that's a road that so many [TS]

00:52:38   superhero shows him down i'm really glad [TS]

00:52:40   the flash doesn't spend too much time on [TS]

00:52:41   it with the exception of virus which [TS]

00:52:43   we'll get into I'm sure but the the back [TS]

00:52:45   to zero it is year spends all like [TS]

00:52:47   basically reveal that to every last [TS]

00:52:49   remaining character that is is a really [TS]

00:52:52   solid market its favor because it sort [TS]

00:52:54   of takes all right we've done that we're [TS]

00:52:55   moving on from there and i think that's [TS]

00:52:57   that's an interesting place to go [TS]

00:52:58   setting up for the next season there are [TS]

00:53:00   innumerable strong women on arrow [TS]

00:53:03   yeah and that is certainly not the case [TS]

00:53:05   on flash you are using the bad guys in a [TS]

00:53:08   narrow even bad casted and will doesn't [TS]

00:53:11   there's nessa from season two [TS]

00:53:13   there is time keep it well looky Cupid [TS]

00:53:17   to the whelks that was kinda flat and oh [TS]

00:53:19   god it was hilarious which is talk about [TS]

00:53:21   her wedding plans yesterday yeah it's [TS]

00:53:23   just fun but I'm talking about the woman [TS]

00:53:26   who was on a Firefly [TS]

00:53:28   Oh God her summer glau that one summer [TS]

00:53:32   glau exactly is out but even like that [TS]

00:53:35   they didn't bother making rationality is [TS]

00:53:38   kind of not even a bit like aggression [TS]

00:53:40   out for her to be a bad guy [TS]

00:53:42   you can go like Moira queen there's so [TS]

00:53:46   many believe there's so many fully [TS]

00:53:48   realized women character i love the [TS]

00:53:50   Huntress shot dressed up because her dad [TS]

00:53:53   being a criminal but still he has no [TS]

00:53:55   yeah but she's got every she's just as [TS]

00:53:58   crazy as Holly yep [TS]

00:54:00   yeah you should come back she should be [TS]

00:54:01   like I want you to meet my boyfriend the [TS]

00:54:03   question I want to yeah questions so [TS]

00:54:06   much do I have to say and this is a kind [TS]

00:54:08   of flash arrow crossover point here [TS]

00:54:09   first i'll say i started watching arrow [TS]

00:54:11   because of the [TS]

00:54:12   because of a flash crossover I was like [TS]

00:54:14   oh because i don't want to pilot night [TS]

00:54:16   just never continue watching and I saw [TS]

00:54:17   the first crossover episode said I mean [TS]

00:54:19   yeah I played into their trap there [TS]

00:54:21   right wishes [TS]

00:54:22   hey you're watching the flash but you [TS]

00:54:23   know we got this other show you should [TS]

00:54:24   probably watch that taste is totally [TS]

00:54:27   totally worked [TS]

00:54:28   but I as i watch the flash and and we [TS]

00:54:30   and we have a problem with the the women [TS]

00:54:32   characters on the flash a and and we [TS]

00:54:34   have the i'll say it I actually think [TS]

00:54:37   fantastic chemistry between Felicity and [TS]

00:54:40   Barry on-the-fly I keep the exact I keep [TS]

00:54:43   thinking they should one it makes [TS]

00:54:44   everything else on the flash kind of [TS]

00:54:46   pale in comparison to can we [TS]

00:54:48   I know it would be bad for arrow because [TS]

00:54:49   we just import that character into the [TS]

00:54:51   flash because he's great on the flash [TS]

00:54:54   she's good she's really great on arrow [TS]

00:54:56   but she has better chemistry with [TS]

00:54:57   everybody so have I told you guys might [TS]

00:55:00   inhabit theory about Felicity and her [TS]

00:55:02   dad [TS]

00:55:03   Noah ok so might in that field theory [TS]

00:55:06   also seen her dad and this was actually [TS]

00:55:07   born out of an episode of the flash is [TS]

00:55:09   here the writers on the record saying oh [TS]

00:55:11   Felicity's dad is a big deal and you [TS]

00:55:14   know you'll be shocked what you find out [TS]

00:55:15   that explains a lot about Felicity I [TS]

00:55:17   think she's I think she's bothered by [TS]

00:55:19   your thought blah that usually employ I [TS]

00:55:22   can stream while I love you we've ended [TS]

00:55:24   Tony's conspiracy corner with over in [TS]

00:55:26   the corner [TS]

00:55:27   it was great Oh Tony sighs look guys I [TS]

00:55:30   gotta drive diagram hold on okay [TS]

00:55:32   huh we can do anything we want we went [TS]

00:55:34   through a wormhole ah how old is she [TS]

00:55:37   that might not work at corner is taking [TS]

00:55:39   up an increasingly large part of Tony's [TS]

00:55:41   basement at this point yeah yeah well [TS]

00:55:42   he's it's a tesseract really this anyway [TS]

00:55:45   that was good that was quite a fine [TS]

00:55:47   having watched knowing that she was [TS]

00:55:48   going to be a main character and [TS]

00:55:49   watching the first season of arrow and [TS]

00:55:50   seeing how it kind of came to be it's [TS]

00:55:52   like well i will give them a lot of [TS]

00:55:53   credit in finding that actress and [TS]

00:55:55   finding that character and saying oh my [TS]

00:55:56   god [TS]

00:55:57   let's just more of her please she is [TS]

00:56:00   she's there are episodes in both of the [TS]

00:56:03   first two seasons of arrow where I wear [TS]

00:56:05   like the number one reason i keep [TS]

00:56:06   watching is because I just can't wait to [TS]

00:56:08   see Felicity embarrass yourself by [TS]

00:56:11   saying something and then regretting it [TS]

00:56:12   because you know she's really smart but [TS]

00:56:14   she can't get the words out just love [TS]

00:56:15   just love that love that character of [TS]

00:56:17   that actress so yeah no she's not [TS]

00:56:19   supposed to be on like once to that was [TS]

00:56:21   just good job or whoever to that and [TS]

00:56:24   yeah she had crazy chemistry with [TS]

00:56:26   with some great custom and she's got [TS]

00:56:28   crazy chemistry with Brandon routes to [TS]

00:56:29   my understanding is that was a network [TS]

00:56:32   note like yeah they saw the episode and [TS]

00:56:34   they're like have more blonde lady which [TS]

00:56:36   is good because that all the Oliver [TS]

00:56:38   Laurel chemistry and that was always one [TS]

00:56:41   of its weaker but yeah it's been much [TS]

00:56:43   better between the two of them since [TS]

00:56:44   they became more like friends and [TS]

00:56:46   colleagues then when they were love [TS]

00:56:48   interests which never really worked [TS]

00:56:49   no it was impossible there's a problem i [TS]

00:56:51   have the Flash to is that I'm not sure I [TS]

00:56:53   really buy the whole Barry Allen iris [TS]

00:56:55   West well and and and this is the thing [TS]

00:56:57   I was saying earlier with Gotham is [TS]

00:56:58   again I think we should be careful about [TS]

00:56:59   saying that these things have to happen [TS]

00:57:01   either because they've been predicted in [TS]

00:57:03   a future newspaper or because they have [TS]

00:57:04   been the comic book universe is that [TS]

00:57:06   suture newspaper yeah really different [TS]

00:57:08   version of the media like franchise do [TS]

00:57:10   whatever you want don't feel bound by [TS]

00:57:12   having to stick to how those characters [TS]

00:57:14   end up in the comic book that's what I'm [TS]

00:57:15   encouraged by about about Felicity out [TS]

00:57:17   arrow is that it's like no no let's just [TS]

00:57:18   let's just go with that because that [TS]

00:57:20   works that's working a lot better at the [TS]

00:57:22   problem with having Felicity on the [TS]

00:57:23   flashes she does have great chemistry [TS]

00:57:24   grant cuts Dustin and it uh it it really [TS]

00:57:28   makes it hard to sell other characters [TS]

00:57:31   and Barry Allen because you're like I've [TS]

00:57:33   seen him with her so forget that this [TS]

00:57:36   other lady over here yeah they grew up [TS]

00:57:39   together whatever it's just a dangerous [TS]

00:57:41   game when you have something like that [TS]

00:57:42   and you've imported from another show [TS]

00:57:43   and she's got to go back there because [TS]

00:57:45   then you're like oh you know but we saw [TS]

00:57:47   that we saw that how great that was and [TS]

00:57:49   this is not working for that habit [TS]

00:57:51   that's no problem is that she gets along [TS]

00:57:53   with everybody and like she she's such a [TS]

00:57:56   great actor well Felicity just need to [TS]

00:57:57   have the Baker call Felicity know the [TS]

00:57:59   kid do that there's already show that [TS]

00:58:01   was called that but if we shift gears to [TS]

00:58:03   the flash a little bit you know I i can [TS]

00:58:07   complain about some things in the flash [TS]

00:58:09   and I know on the flash guess you guys [TS]

00:58:10   have it and quite rightly so and yet it [TS]

00:58:12   is so much fun and great just great [TS]

00:58:15   justin is so likeable and the thief as [TS]

00:58:17   Lisa likes to say is three dads where [TS]

00:58:21   you get time captain who is great at [TS]

00:58:22   science dad you know just tell Marta [TS]

00:58:24   brings gravitas 28 what would otherwise [TS]

00:58:26   be kind of a silly set of plotlines he [TS]

00:58:29   really brings the adult supervision in a [TS]

00:58:31   way that's so great and then john wesley [TS]

00:58:33   shipp stunt cast because he was the [TS]

00:58:35   flash in the nineties actually does a [TS]

00:58:38   great job in [TS]

00:58:39   his stuff as berries real dad who's in [TS]

00:58:41   prison prison dad so the science dad [TS]

00:58:43   prison dad police dad and and also throw [TS]

00:58:46   in that the other stunt casting with a [TS]

00:58:47   cast the cast mark hamill been bringing [TS]

00:58:50   him back to the character he played on [TS]

00:58:52   the nineties flash show and he did a [TS]

00:58:54   great job and was a lot of fun and they [TS]

00:58:56   had a minute pace come back and actually [TS]

00:58:59   I i had several moments where I thought [TS]

00:59:01   that maybe maybe they were setting her [TS]

00:59:02   up to be the replacement for dr. wells [TS]

00:59:04   next season because she was like science [TS]

00:59:06   ladies on the rival science lab but you [TS]

00:59:09   know it all all that stuff worked and [TS]

00:59:11   there's no way that it should have all [TS]

00:59:13   worked like that but it just so it made [TS]

00:59:15   it a pleasure so even though there can [TS]

00:59:16   be quibbles I just was so much fun to [TS]

00:59:18   watch that show this year is to start to [TS]

00:59:20   finish so much fun well that is speaking [TS]

00:59:22   of future newspapers that the first [TS]

00:59:24   thought that came into everyone's head [TS]

00:59:26   in this house was there still gonna be [TS]

00:59:28   newspapers then and we did anything it [TS]

00:59:32   could be like a webpage they kinda like [TS]

00:59:34   tracing the closet out distributed the [TS]

00:59:36   newsstand yeah it's just is listicles [TS]

00:59:38   that they print out and throw out onto [TS]

00:59:39   the streets [TS]

00:59:40   yeah only five reasons the flashes [TS]

00:59:42   disappeared he shot my as expressed by [TS]

00:59:46   labor photos of you know I i was looking [TS]

00:59:50   to add another show to the weekly thing [TS]

00:59:53   and this was a show that you know it's [TS]

00:59:55   it's not even that that we put it off [TS]

00:59:56   like tuesday at eight boom we're sitting [TS]

00:59:58   there and watch absolutely [TS]

00:59:58   there and watch absolutely [TS]

01:00:00   and and my ten-year-old fell in love [TS]

01:00:02   with it [TS]

01:00:03   I I haven't seen him go bananas for a [TS]

01:00:06   show like that in a long time and he was [TS]

01:00:09   really with it he loved it he was [TS]

01:00:10   watching and then he was the one is like [TS]

01:00:12   it's 759 change the channel come on [TS]

01:00:14   until we got confirmation that that [TS]

01:00:18   Wells was really the reverse-flash and [TS]

01:00:21   he immediately rejected pad and it's [TS]

01:00:24   like no because he loved Tom Cavanagh [TS]

01:00:26   and because science dad was so cool and [TS]

01:00:30   science dad was really supportive and [TS]

01:00:31   science dad was wonderful and and that's [TS]

01:00:33   science dance science dad wouldn't do [TS]

01:00:35   that and you know the know they say he's [TS]

01:00:40   going to be a regular cast member next [TS]

01:00:42   year right and I hope that means that [TS]

01:00:45   he's going to be the real Harrison wells [TS]

01:00:47   now [TS]

01:00:48   yeah because you know he's so good at [TS]

01:00:52   that and you know I kind of want to show [TS]

01:00:54   my kids bed now because they really [TS]

01:00:57   enjoyed him as creepy as the concept of [TS]

01:00:59   it was just a lawyer i own a bowling [TS]

01:01:02   alley two separate things and and i'm [TS]

01:01:04   stalking this girl from high school and [TS]

01:01:06   then she marries me for modern family [TS]

01:01:08   little weird but but he was just so [TS]

01:01:11   charming you know it had no so great and [TS]

01:01:14   so this it's sort of carried over into [TS]

01:01:16   this and I mean I on the one hand i [TS]

01:01:18   really liked the idea that old Tom [TS]

01:01:20   Cavanagh it turns out to be the big bad [TS]

01:01:22   that's really cool but at the same time [TS]

01:01:25   watching watching him in his reaction [TS]

01:01:27   you know it sort of made me think you [TS]

01:01:30   know he's really he really likes this [TS]

01:01:33   mentor character and and you've done a [TS]

01:01:36   really clever twist of making the mentor [TS]

01:01:38   the the bad guy but what is it going to [TS]

01:01:41   do to the little fan who just [TS]

01:01:43   immediately reject your show out of hand [TS]

01:01:45   because a mentor wouldn't do that you [TS]

01:01:48   know it's an interesting story but at [TS]

01:01:52   the same time you know I came to see it [TS]

01:01:53   from his point of view to it's like well [TS]

01:01:55   we would have been nice if there'd been [TS]

01:01:56   another twist that it wasn't really him [TS]

01:01:59   there was somebody else or I don't know [TS]

01:02:00   you know I'd say that's an effective [TS]

01:02:02   show that make you sad about Karen [TS]

01:02:04   gathering [TS]

01:02:05   oh yeah absolutely that's because I'm [TS]

01:02:06   not let's get the job i will also [TS]

01:02:09   yeah you're not ten really mr. strong [TS]

01:02:12   point and also I do i do wonder [TS]

01:02:14   sometimes if it would do what the effect [TS]

01:02:17   would have been if it hadn't been [TS]

01:02:18   revealed in the end of the pilot that he [TS]

01:02:20   has a secret lair with a future [TS]

01:02:22   newspaper in it and instead we were left [TS]

01:02:24   to just assume throughout that he did it [TS]

01:02:28   he had nothing to do with it would we [TS]

01:02:29   have caught on what had been a real [TS]

01:02:31   shock when we have not believed it and [TS]

01:02:33   that's why they had to really tell to [TS]

01:02:35   show us that because otherwise we would [TS]

01:02:36   feel like well you didn't set that up at [TS]

01:02:38   all i don't know but it was it was great [TS]

01:02:40   to watch Tom Cavanagh the whole season [TS]

01:02:42   and feel his legitimate you know [TS]

01:02:44   feelings toward his charges while also [TS]

01:02:46   having this whole other agenda [TS]

01:02:48   I mean I speculated wildly that there [TS]

01:02:50   were to reverse flashes right there had [TS]

01:02:52   to be like a good one and a bad one [TS]

01:02:53   because I you know because I was [TS]

01:02:55   hesitant put to believe it he's lazy so [TS]

01:02:58   dr. wells [TS]

01:02:59   yeah oh no we were we had all sorts of [TS]

01:03:01   crazy theories about how this is gonna [TS]

01:03:02   work for the third floor yeah yeah I [TS]

01:03:04   mean I i kinda like the idea that he had [TS]

01:03:06   the access to the future technology in [TS]

01:03:08   the future news whatever it is and all [TS]

01:03:11   this but I kind of wanted him to be [TS]

01:03:12   wally west and have some kind of future [TS]

01:03:16   you know that's that's how he comes from [TS]

01:03:18   the future [TS]

01:03:18   alas he's clearly jay garrick if they [TS]

01:03:21   finale anyway all that I i just love [TS]

01:03:23   that moment of the helmet coming up [TS]

01:03:25   oh gotta go yeah I land is mike i yelped [TS]

01:03:30   audibly yeah [TS]

01:03:31   yes same here i had to explain why i [TS]

01:03:33   yelped because i did not have to i had i [TS]

01:03:36   did not have to explain myself to anyone [TS]

01:03:38   yeah well I wasn't alone you guys you [TS]

01:03:40   guys seem to think that he thought the [TS]

01:03:42   jay garrick was coming for him [TS]

01:03:44   I just took it as like sent like some [TS]

01:03:46   sign of some event in the future [TS]

01:03:48   universes breaking down or something [TS]

01:03:50   something like that because I mean why [TS]

01:03:52   would you Jake characters kind to kick [TS]

01:03:54   his ass [TS]

01:03:55   why would he throw his helmet to the [TS]

01:03:56   time thing first it passes and just show [TS]

01:03:59   up beat the crap and i think it was [TS]

01:04:00   maybe just a UH a memory of one of the [TS]

01:04:03   many different timelines that he's gone [TS]

01:04:04   down and got all these different flashes [TS]

01:04:07   and it's just like that's not a good [TS]

01:04:08   sign if i bothered that's where took it [TS]

01:04:10   but it's right but the walls are [TS]

01:04:12   breaking down or there's a rip in the [TS]

01:04:13   unit [TS]

01:04:14   yeah either that or he's been there [TS]

01:04:15   before where he seen that how much fly [TS]

01:04:17   off into a time loop [TS]

01:04:19   yeah and he's like well this is not [TS]

01:04:20   gonna end well and I assumed I assumed [TS]

01:04:22   that the end of the the season that the [TS]

01:04:24   season finale which I enjoyed a lot and [TS]

01:04:26   and I I enjoyed that they have to pay [TS]

01:04:27   attention and that also they spent most [TS]

01:04:29   of the running time dealing with [TS]

01:04:30   characters and not with ya cataclysmic [TS]

01:04:32   plot think it was holes [TS]

01:04:34   I assumed it would end though as I think [TS]

01:04:36   most of us dinner many of us did with [TS]

01:04:38   him saving his mom and discovering that [TS]

01:04:40   the future is not what he expected to [TS]

01:04:42   done having it be like a flashpoint kind [TS]

01:04:44   of think that his bed he pretty prevent [TS]

01:04:46   himself from doing it was the great and [TS]

01:04:48   surprised yes that was super surprised i [TS]

01:04:50   loaded touch that was a super [TS]

01:04:52   interesting move because how does yeah [TS]

01:04:54   how it has that already happened is yeah [TS]

01:04:56   he knew he was gonna stop until I don't [TS]

01:04:58   then you start getting well well that [TS]

01:04:59   connects future berry and future a [TS]

01:05:02   reverse flash coming backwards yeah who [TS]

01:05:05   are fighting their right and and that [TS]

01:05:07   also suggest that other than the fact [TS]

01:05:09   that he's been erased from history which [TS]

01:05:10   kind of complicates this whole thing you [TS]

01:05:12   you could kill a smartphone and still [TS]

01:05:16   have appeared in the show because he [TS]

01:05:17   wouldn't have yet gone further back but [TS]

01:05:20   who knows [TS]

01:05:21   time-travel man makes really doing wave [TS]

01:05:23   your hand so my theory on this is that [TS]

01:05:25   you birth song puts a he kidnaps Eddie [TS]

01:05:30   and he basically just tell him that [TS]

01:05:32   useless and i think that the only reason [TS]

01:05:36   for that is that it that Eddie's body [TS]

01:05:38   gets sucked up into the time loop and [TS]

01:05:40   ends up becoming either bards direct [TS]

01:05:43   father or like that that's how things [TS]

01:05:46   work out [TS]

01:05:47   yeah is that he did not get erased from [TS]

01:05:49   the time thing [TS]

01:05:50   no no no candidate because this too much [TS]

01:05:52   cause that would undo every exam yeah [TS]

01:05:55   yeah so but he but the timeline changes [TS]

01:05:58   in a way that lets us keep Tom captain [TS]

01:06:00   on the show and still have perhaps the [TS]

01:06:02   actor who played Eddie comes back and [TS]

01:06:04   now he's he's the other reverse-flash or [TS]

01:06:07   something like that little ring in my [TS]

01:06:09   heart you know just got [TS]

01:06:11   for that guy he goes retriever you ya [TS]

01:06:13   its Nora's dad or without you baby [TS]

01:06:16   yeah so it's like Cujo except with [TS]

01:06:19   people haha well it's sad but what I [TS]

01:06:24   really liked about the flash is that it [TS]

01:06:26   felt like even after this first season [TS]

01:06:28   like did this show has been going on way [TS]

01:06:32   longer than one all I know [TS]

01:06:34   yeah and it's just a testament to how [TS]

01:06:36   well anyway they really threw everything [TS]

01:06:38   in right like they and and they did a [TS]

01:06:40   good job of making that you know again [TS]

01:06:41   arrow is always stuck to this very idea [TS]

01:06:44   of like we're kinda going to be an it up [TS]

01:06:46   until this season like we're gonna be [TS]

01:06:47   like realistic right like everything in [TS]

01:06:49   this universe is kind of explainable the [TS]

01:06:52   flashes was like nope [TS]

01:06:53   thank you can realize that yes the one [TS]

01:06:56   and season one psyche gorilla and just [TS]

01:06:58   like at people with superpowers crazy [TS]

01:07:00   stuff with Miller rows back onto my TV [TS]

01:07:02   show and i like that i like their whole [TS]

01:07:06   heartedly unabashedly embrace the whole [TS]

01:07:09   like superhero genre in a way I think [TS]

01:07:12   that we can all agree totally is like [TS]

01:07:14   possibly murder your comic any other [TS]

01:07:16   comic book show on TV it's the closest [TS]

01:07:19   comic books that you that I've seen in [TS]

01:07:21   like at video media damn slot the the [TS]

01:07:24   writer of spider-man for many years now [TS]

01:07:26   so competing company to DC and the flash [TS]

01:07:31   tweet tweeted back in December and I I [TS]

01:07:33   actually called us up on Twitter search [TS]

01:07:36   right now but i remember seeing it at [TS]

01:07:37   the time he said if you love superheroes [TS]

01:07:39   watch the flash it's the show we always [TS]

01:07:41   wanted place it straight looks great [TS]

01:07:43   well-written no camp lots of heart no [TS]

01:07:46   added grit the flash is straight on [TS]

01:07:48   unapologetic live-action superhero show [TS]

01:07:50   and I think he's totally right it's like [TS]

01:07:52   he has the spirit of a superhero comic [TS]

01:07:54   book in a way that we have rarely if [TS]

01:07:57   ever seen on television [TS]

01:07:58   yeah for the movies well yeah yeah i [TS]

01:08:00   mean because the episodic nature of it [TS]

01:08:02   makes it feel more like a contrite true [TS]

01:08:04   but it's got one of the most nuanced [TS]

01:08:06   takes on family relationship ever see [TS]

01:08:08   like which is kind of ironic because so [TS]

01:08:10   much of arrows about you know parents do [TS]

01:08:13   terrible things because they love their [TS]

01:08:14   kids so much for parents to give their [TS]

01:08:15   children terrible burden to carry [TS]

01:08:17   because there is a family business or [TS]

01:08:19   there's a family vendetta or what [TS]

01:08:20   her but you know what i was watching the [TS]

01:08:23   last few episodes the flash it really [TS]

01:08:24   hit me that this whole series is has [TS]

01:08:26   always been about the different ways you [TS]

01:08:29   can be a good or bad parent to your kids [TS]

01:08:31   sometimes it's at the same time and it [TS]

01:08:33   was just such an extraordinarily subtle [TS]

01:08:35   and compassionate and and and [TS]

01:08:37   intelligently done examination of [TS]

01:08:40   families i was like wow this is not this [TS]

01:08:43   right hand underneath the gorilla how [TS]

01:08:44   much better would you drink a lot of [TS]

01:08:47   room under that gorilla but they did I [TS]

01:08:49   did there are a few cases where I I feel [TS]

01:08:52   like we've we found very talented [TS]

01:08:54   television creators who grew up on this [TS]

01:08:56   sort of material and have a pet any and [TS]

01:08:58   yet are very talented as as writers and [TS]

01:09:01   and creating dramatic television and [TS]

01:09:03   have synthesized them together in ways [TS]

01:09:05   that we should feel really fortunate [TS]

01:09:06   that they did it and I feel like the [TS]

01:09:08   flash is an example of that when russell [TS]

01:09:10   t davies brought back doctor who and he [TS]

01:09:12   brought all the things that were that [TS]

01:09:13   would that people loved about the [TS]

01:09:15   original but applied that whole other [TS]

01:09:16   level of the characters and like what [TS]

01:09:18   are the Companions families feel and [TS]

01:09:19   things like that that had just not ever [TS]

01:09:21   been considered and and i would say the [TS]

01:09:23   only thing that I would say was we close [TS]

01:09:25   to this in terms of a TV superhero show [TS]

01:09:27   is my favorite show of all time Buffy [TS]

01:09:29   which is essentially just weeding [TS]

01:09:30   telling a spider-man story except [TS]

01:09:32   switching out all the troops for horror [TS]

01:09:34   tropes instead and making the character [TS]

01:09:36   girl instead of a boy and the sneaky [TS]

01:09:38   thing I think that they CW you know the [TS]

01:09:40   sort of DC Comics want you to be thing [TS]

01:09:42   it does is like you kind of got the [TS]

01:09:44   flashing arrow as a Superman Batman [TS]

01:09:46   analog without using those characters [TS]

01:09:48   right but you have the Flash and [TS]

01:09:50   Superman both powered both very much [TS]

01:09:51   like good straightforward here I was [TS]

01:09:54   Arrow and Batman both sort of the [TS]

01:09:55   vigilantes slightly darker and and it [TS]

01:09:58   lets you tell those stories but more [TS]

01:10:00   interesting fact you badly burned down [TS]

01:10:02   exactly by all of the you know decades [TS]

01:10:04   and decades of baggage for these really [TS]

01:10:06   really popular characters and so it's [TS]

01:10:08   refreshing to see this take on like you [TS]

01:10:10   know sort of a fresh take on what these [TS]

01:10:12   are like tried and true superhero [TS]

01:10:14   clearly not exactly clichés but [TS]

01:10:16   archetypes you know our and I really [TS]

01:10:18   scouting goth kid [TS]

01:10:19   yeah yeah yeah exactly so when one of [TS]

01:10:22   the things comparing the flash this to [TS]

01:10:24   Superman also in terms of you know just [TS]

01:10:26   being a good pure heroic kind of guy i [TS]

01:10:30   mean that's part of why the kids both [TS]

01:10:32   figured out that he wasn't going to save [TS]

01:10:33   as [TS]

01:10:33   other in the finale because a it [TS]

01:10:36   wouldn't have made him the flash but the [TS]

01:10:38   the thing that I liked was that he [TS]

01:10:41   realizes that if he did if he saves her [TS]

01:10:43   he's not gonna be the flash and and this [TS]

01:10:46   this is a greater calling for him and [TS]

01:10:49   and it's that that's the thing I hate [TS]

01:10:51   about man of steel that's the thing I [TS]

01:10:53   hate about the movies the DC is putting [TS]

01:10:55   out is that they don't let their heroes [TS]

01:10:57   just be heroes [TS]

01:10:59   you're right there they're just good [TS]

01:11:02   it's okay and you know you can have [TS]

01:11:04   Batman you can have these other things [TS]

01:11:06   but Superman is just good he would he's [TS]

01:11:09   brought up that way and man of steel [TS]

01:11:12   still pisses me off but but it's the [TS]

01:11:14   same way you know and and they get it [TS]

01:11:16   right in this that he's just good right [TS]

01:11:20   and he was brought up by these really [TS]

01:11:22   good mentors and parents and and you [TS]

01:11:25   know and and that's part of the whole [TS]

01:11:27   reason we have these archetypes and as [TS]

01:11:30   as heroes to aspire to is that we want [TS]

01:11:32   to be good like them we don't need to [TS]

01:11:34   see them struggle to learn to be good [TS]

01:11:37   it's ok if they're good but the arm the [TS]

01:11:40   Oliver Barre relationship i thought was [TS]

01:11:42   very strong because you finally get [TS]

01:11:44   somebody who who you can sort of say is [TS]

01:11:46   you know their peers in the sense that [TS]

01:11:48   they both have shows but they don't know [TS]

01:11:50   that they took the TV guy but but Oliver [TS]

01:11:53   being we've seen Oliver come back from [TS]

01:11:56   the island and you know three seasons of [TS]

01:11:58   that he meets Barry after two seasons of [TS]

01:12:00   his own shower a season and a half right [TS]

01:12:02   because Barry shows up in the middle of [TS]

01:12:03   season 2 of arrow but Oliver's is is [TS]

01:12:07   like the mentor and Barry is this young [TS]

01:12:08   impressionable kid and i love that [TS]

01:12:10   dynamic i love that he that Oliver [TS]

01:12:12   brings in us or brings experience and [TS]

01:12:15   and like the rules of the road of being [TS]

01:12:17   a hero and Barry brings this innocence [TS]

01:12:19   and idealism that [TS]

01:12:21   ah yeah sorry there is the tournament [TS]

01:12:24   where we're all he gives some [TS]

01:12:26   relationship advice is like trust us we [TS]

01:12:28   never get the girls mascot to all the [TS]

01:12:30   publicity driving to you know neither [TS]

01:12:32   man into the sunset [TS]

01:12:34   trust me Barry don't even try [TS]

01:12:38   I think it's good for all over to know [TS]

01:12:40   that someone who is unconditionally good [TS]

01:12:42   as Barry thinks he's worth having his [TS]

01:12:43   back for I think it helps reinforce all [TS]

01:12:45   of his own shaky sense [TS]

01:12:46   his morality in his own worth it because [TS]

01:12:49   because because that was the thing that [TS]

01:12:50   I actually thought was interesting about [TS]

01:12:52   some of the Oliver Queen direction this [TS]

01:12:53   season is he's always been somebody [TS]

01:12:56   who's let other people tell him what his [TS]

01:12:58   values are and what his value to other [TS]

01:13:00   people is and you know he's not somebody [TS]

01:13:04   who has this the strong internal [TS]

01:13:06   scaffolding in terms of morality or [TS]

01:13:08   sense of self and to have Barry give him [TS]

01:13:10   this this huge vote of confidence is [TS]

01:13:13   something that Oliver needs whether or [TS]

01:13:14   not to actually admit that and to me [TS]

01:13:16   that's one of the beautiful things about [TS]

01:13:17   the relationship is always is Barry [TS]

01:13:19   lenzen the moral fiber that he needs and [TS]

01:13:21   in turn he takes all the experience he [TS]

01:13:23   has a reminder very that it is not [TS]

01:13:25   enough to be faster the other guy cuz [TS]

01:13:27   cuz [TS]

01:13:27   speed is only one thing you have to know [TS]

01:13:29   how to fight you have to know how to [TS]

01:13:30   anticipate things and and you know it's [TS]

01:13:32   it's a beautiful symbiotic relationship [TS]

01:13:34   how many how many people did Oliver have [TS]

01:13:35   to murder before he decided to murder [TS]

01:13:37   might be bad a seasonal I what is this [TS]

01:13:39   21 and it takes awhile to pick up [TS]

01:13:42   concepts he needs flash cards [TS]

01:13:44   dead people don't have flash charts all [TS]

01:13:47   we also knows that Barry isn't like him [TS]

01:13:49   and in kind of really reinforces that [TS]

01:13:51   fact and says well you know essentially [TS]

01:13:53   is telling him don't be like me right [TS]

01:13:55   you know you are a good person you are [TS]

01:13:58   this hero just go and do that because [TS]

01:14:00   that's who you are don't follow my path [TS]

01:14:03   because my path is crazy and that is [TS]

01:14:06   important that is important telling my [TS]

01:14:09   wife that he is not well adjusted right [TS]

01:14:11   like you know that's that is relevant [TS]

01:14:12   also love that like when Barry just came [TS]

01:14:17   and just took Nanda Parbat off the map [TS]

01:14:19   click just give the Holy with thousands [TS]

01:14:24   well he's running around it like I [TS]

01:14:25   suppose a little bit less than Mach 2 at [TS]

01:14:28   that point but then only can basically [TS]

01:14:30   just murders all the assassins well well [TS]

01:14:32   that murders here up pops a moment i [TS]

01:14:34   love the way [TS]

01:14:35   11-4 hata he doesn't know that [TS]

01:14:38   resurrection of life and and this is why [TS]

01:14:40   the League of Assassins fails that has [TS]

01:14:42   no mission a flash I think I might need [TS]

01:14:45   a favor [TS]

01:14:46   you know maybe like tomorrow like 8-9 [TS]

01:14:48   central BB answer whatever I don't [TS]

01:14:51   excited about the old-school dungeon [TS]

01:14:53   I'll start stretching pop a little hole [TS]

01:14:56   in the time continuum the worst flash [TS]

01:14:58   needs to like a 24 hour nap i got tired [TS]

01:15:00   speaking by the way of uh of the [TS]

01:15:04   contrast between the lightness of the [TS]

01:15:06   flash in the darkness of arrow we should [TS]

01:15:07   move on and talk briefly about the [TS]

01:15:11   darkness of daredevil [TS]

01:15:13   ok maybe like 5 episode so i can only [TS]

01:15:15   contribute 5 episode yeah mines i'm only [TS]

01:15:18   got about six or seven at this point but [TS]

01:15:21   you're all cut I was yeah I know we're [TS]

01:15:23   all her old it's 1030 is taking my [TS]

01:15:26   breath away without oh my god Dorsey is [TS]

01:15:28   like to see it is going to will continue [TS]

01:15:30   to do so and and also charlie cox is [TS]

01:15:33   exactly who I never realized he was the [TS]

01:15:35   Matt Murdock I wanted or needed and what [TS]

01:15:37   I really like Charlie Cox a lot yeah [TS]

01:15:40   really good [TS]

01:15:40   well I mean he's and he's no Affleck but [TS]

01:15:42   you can do you know my house I would [TS]

01:15:45   stop that kind of stuff will get you a [TS]

01:15:49   bad way that I will not have it was a [TS]

01:15:52   shank and kill you if you ever want to [TS]

01:15:54   make a Boston really angry what you do [TS]

01:15:56   is you ask them with a straight face if [TS]

01:15:58   the inevitable Ben Affleck statue is [TS]

01:16:00   going to come with or without daredevil [TS]

01:16:01   costume [TS]

01:16:02   you know we have a system here in Boston [TS]

01:16:05   where we take our most unwanted people [TS]

01:16:08   and export them to Hollywood and you [TS]

01:16:11   keep saying that you tell you but I also [TS]

01:16:14   want to throw in the body Curtis hall [TS]

01:16:16   and rosario Dawson who were also really [TS]

01:16:19   gasps in in daredevil this I i might I [TS]

01:16:21   don't know what my expectations for the [TS]

01:16:23   daredevil TV show what was I thought [TS]

01:16:25   well that's a deathlike show that I i [TS]

01:16:27   will actually watch sure let's give it a [TS]

01:16:29   shot but I was not expecting what I got [TS]

01:16:31   which was not the tone of most of the [TS]

01:16:35   other Marvel stuff that it is a much [TS]

01:16:37   more serious violent thing and but but [TS]

01:16:41   really well done just like really really [TS]

01:16:43   well done Tyga i was against along with [TS]

01:16:46   the flash just an incredible us [TS]

01:16:48   prize of the last nine months i love the [TS]

01:16:50   reference to the Avengers stuff whether [TS]

01:16:52   whether like well everytime when those [TS]

01:16:53   guys toss him through building there's [TS]

01:16:55   the real estate market and its really [TS]

01:16:56   nice to hear that you know what the [TS]

01:16:59   Avengers are busy recreating the team [TS]

01:17:01   america sequence over in seconds via you [TS]

01:17:04   know people in Manhattan that makes you [TS]

01:17:06   the new york city are like well we are [TS]

01:17:09   still picking bits of alien grid out of [TS]

01:17:11   windows and you know that there are [TS]

01:17:15   consequences right like that is I agree [TS]

01:17:17   that that is into brilliant setup for a [TS]

01:17:19   villain to give him an idea to give him [TS]

01:17:22   a motivation that you know as we we [TS]

01:17:23   talked about i think on some of the [TS]

01:17:24   daredevil podcast you know every great [TS]

01:17:27   villain is the hero of their own story [TS]

01:17:29   and so you know you know Wilson Fisk in [TS]

01:17:31   this case is really has a good he had [TS]

01:17:35   heart he has a good idea [TS]

01:17:37   he's accomplishing it through some [TS]

01:17:38   really really awful manners and perhaps [TS]

01:17:40   his motives are not entirely pure but he [TS]

01:17:42   has he has a goal and he has a vision [TS]

01:17:46   right and that and that is something [TS]

01:17:47   that makes him so so eminently watchable [TS]

01:17:49   is the fact that he's set out to do [TS]

01:17:52   something not merely to be a cartoon [TS]

01:17:54   villain or to oppose a hero but like he [TS]

01:17:55   has a plan and he is working towards [TS]

01:17:58   ends he has genuine belief system right [TS]

01:18:00   exactly it's just I like how they're [TS]

01:18:03   making him so rich and so fully fully [TS]

01:18:07   washer and yeah oh yeah cuz cuz like [TS]

01:18:09   don't like an arrow Malcolm Merlyn is [TS]

01:18:11   one of my favorite characters mostly [TS]

01:18:13   because John barrels a cartoon yes what [TS]

01:18:15   did cartoon again John camels jock yeah [TS]

01:18:18   John Barrowman basically place them is [TS]

01:18:20   like a living cartoon figure and it's [TS]

01:18:21   hilarious and great i love it but on [TS]

01:18:23   this show and I what I really like is [TS]

01:18:26   how everybody has nuanced um even foggy [TS]

01:18:29   like we're getting into you know that [TS]

01:18:31   that that the the complicated so we're [TS]

01:18:34   going to a few the complicated shades of [TS]

01:18:35   the relationship he has with matt where [TS]

01:18:37   it's not all I'm just here's a sidekick [TS]

01:18:39   and you know he's he's pretty aware of [TS]

01:18:42   the glaring inequalities in their [TS]

01:18:44   character and their talents and he's [TS]

01:18:47   having a hard time reconciling himself [TS]

01:18:48   to that and I think that's going to be [TS]

01:18:50   super interesting to watch two and I [TS]

01:18:51   like that they're carefully lay down all [TS]

01:18:53   of this all of the stuff so early on [TS]

01:18:54   like it's some of the super glory like I [TS]

01:18:57   really have a hard time with a knife [TS]

01:18:59   made from someone's rib [TS]

01:19:00   the Russians so yeah how do you feel [TS]

01:19:03   about car doors Lisa yeah yeah [TS]

01:19:05   Oh of your hands especially taco oh yeah [TS]

01:19:07   oh yeah I was just like oh my gosh is [TS]

01:19:12   this this is netflix low but like what I [TS]

01:19:16   also love that is how it takes place [TS]

01:19:17   after like one of the most excruciating [TS]

01:19:20   awkward first dates and what I really [TS]

01:19:22   love is when the Russian crashes that [TS]

01:19:23   day and like everyone in the restaurant [TS]

01:19:24   stands up and like oh my god this [TS]

01:19:26   completely packed this restaurant then [TS]

01:19:27   forces and he's trying to play it cool [TS]

01:19:28   so I it's just great [TS]

01:19:34   yeah Jason most yet when you know [TS]

01:19:37   because really this kind of started for [TS]

01:19:39   me when you and and Tim good we're [TS]

01:19:42   talking about it and you know the [TS]

01:19:44   preconceived notion was that it was [TS]

01:19:46   blood porn at tennis with him that's [TS]

01:19:48   what Tim called he thought that this [TS]

01:19:49   even tonight coming off of the Spartacus [TS]

01:19:51   was you know putting in like lots of [TS]

01:19:53   lots of fights and showing lots of blood [TS]

01:19:55   and like people people like that kind of [TS]

01:19:58   show and and he kind of wrote it often [TS]

01:20:00   and didn't buy that he was dodging all [TS]

01:20:02   those bullets all of that which I i [TS]

01:20:04   found effective in lowering my [TS]

01:20:06   expectations going in and then being [TS]

01:20:07   quite pleasantly surprised yeah well I [TS]

01:20:11   mean and so now you would say it's its [TS]

01:20:13   way you get your needle class 1 the [TS]

01:20:16   other way [TS]

01:20:17   oh yeah I mean oh but when we were [TS]

01:20:19   talking about i haven't seen it yet i [TS]

01:20:20   was taking his word for it no I I think [TS]

01:20:22   it's good i think it's really good i [TS]

01:20:24   don't like a lot i'm really enjoying it [TS]

01:20:26   I like it more than Tim did but i think [TS]

01:20:28   i'm still closer to Tim that's something [TS]

01:20:32   that's fine it's well done [TS]

01:20:34   it's just not my kind of my cup of tea [TS]

01:20:36   well you can't where you can watch it [TS]

01:20:38   with the kids [TS]

01:20:39   no you definitely can't and I can't walk [TS]

01:20:42   I can't binge-watch it honestly I can't [TS]

01:20:44   watch more than one of the time I just [TS]

01:20:45   do that's why I that's why I'm only 18 [TS]

01:20:47   mine in is bringing us here [TS]

01:20:49   I just can't get violence I've been [TS]

01:20:51   totally in your to violence thanks to [TS]

01:20:53   decorate my upbringing at video games [TS]

01:20:55   movies so I watched four times your [TS]

01:20:58   competitive advantage of the future of [TS]

01:21:00   America everybody jason is seeing it in [TS]

01:21:04   4k so i am also your blood actually [TS]

01:21:07   working four days in the blood [TS]

01:21:09   yeah it's a lot of blood case [TS]

01:21:12   and once again the blood but it's it's [TS]

01:21:15   it's really good night I i well I was [TS]

01:21:17   also just a little skeptical of them [TS]

01:21:18   they're like oh yeah we're gonna do some [TS]

01:21:20   shows on netflix and ready four of them [TS]

01:21:22   and they're gonna kind of being are [TS]

01:21:22   linked together and I thought okay well [TS]

01:21:24   we'll see but he just seemed so nebulous [TS]

01:21:27   and weird and like are these going to be [TS]

01:21:29   crappier there's going to be cheap and [TS]

01:21:30   if daredevil is any indication know [TS]

01:21:33   they're actually the I now the bar has [TS]

01:21:36   been raised for me where I am going to [TS]

01:21:37   expect a lot more for Lucas doesn't [TS]

01:21:41   generally it will be it will be [TS]

01:21:43   interesting because a lot of those are [TS]

01:21:44   much more special effects heavy in terms [TS]

01:21:46   of I feel like those characters I mean [TS]

01:21:48   iron fists like there's certainly [TS]

01:21:50   martial arts the part of punches girls [TS]

01:21:52   yes it's lovely through mystical [TS]

01:21:54   spiritual stuff going on there [TS]

01:21:56   depends on how much value yeah but you [TS]

01:21:57   gotta differentiate it from daredevil [TS]

01:21:59   right because it can just be another guy [TS]

01:22:00   running around punching actually was one [TS]

01:22:02   can see so that's only like a baby like [TS]

01:22:05   thing over his face it's gonna come food [TS]

01:22:06   though that kungfu you can do anything [TS]

01:22:08   you want look we saw we saw you know [TS]

01:22:10   madam gal do a one-inch punch so having [TS]

01:22:14   yeah you are that's the thing with iron [TS]

01:22:15   fist it could be it could be all back [TS]

01:22:17   alleys or could be like surprise where [TS]

01:22:19   the mystical City and I'm like chatting [TS]

01:22:20   with the Dragon you know yeah I i guess [TS]

01:22:23   my guess is it's gonna be street-level [TS]

01:22:25   I'm fit seems like probably there's not [TS]

01:22:27   going to be as many like conference [TS]

01:22:28   calls with dragons buttonholed though [TS]

01:22:30   again if you don't want them all to be [TS]

01:22:32   totally identical right you don't want [TS]

01:22:34   another daredevil you want iron fist to [TS]

01:22:36   have a different friend Luke Cage to [TS]

01:22:37   have it if you don't want iron fist to [TS]

01:22:39   just be the daredevil like four blocks [TS]

01:22:40   over [TS]

01:22:41   yeah not a very compelling story you [TS]

01:22:43   know hell's kitchen needs a lot of [TS]

01:22:44   superheroes guys they cross in an alley [TS]

01:22:47   there's a scene where one of those [TS]

01:22:48   running one way and one of those really [TS]

01:22:49   the other way okay [TS]

01:22:51   hey I and daredevil also the critical [TS]

01:22:54   acclaim and people watching it it got it [TS]

01:22:56   got renewed for a second season which is [TS]

01:22:57   funny because the way they pitched it [TS]

01:22:59   was really like we're just going to do a [TS]

01:23:00   season of each of these not that if [TS]

01:23:01   there would be any hope for more and [TS]

01:23:03   they're like no there's gonna be more so [TS]

01:23:05   that's interesting too [TS]

01:23:06   I i really i could have taken it as just [TS]

01:23:09   one season and said okay I think [TS]

01:23:11   conceive that way [TS]

01:23:12   yeah i mean and adventures part of it is [TS]

01:23:15   that it was that like it was an up [TS]

01:23:18   basically an origin story over you know [TS]

01:23:20   13 episodes [TS]

01:23:22   I mean it was you know you can't do that [TS]

01:23:24   on you know quote regular TV right yeah [TS]

01:23:28   once again in future episodes provides a [TS]

01:23:30   stronger framework for putting your [TS]

01:23:31   stories on now [TS]

01:23:33   well so they'll follow it up with AK [TS]

01:23:36   jessica jones and i can't in the ball [TS]

01:23:38   looking forward to that [TS]

01:23:40   that's with krysten ritter is jessica [TS]

01:23:41   jones and david tennant as kilgrave the [TS]

01:23:44   purple band blah and I believe Luke [TS]

01:23:47   eight makes his debut in that as well i [TS]

01:23:49   think so i would think so yeah now that [TS]

01:23:52   got to do it Chris crystal river is so [TS]

01:23:55   funny to she's gonna be great [TS]

01:23:57   I'm not looking for the crossover [TS]

01:23:59   potential for that too just because a [TS]

01:24:01   funny is always good [TS]

01:24:02   also things we have to look forward to [TS]

01:24:04   this fall or not depending on your your [TS]

01:24:07   inclination CBS is doing with greg [TS]

01:24:10   berlanti as one of the executive [TS]

01:24:11   producers is doing Supergirl they're [TS]

01:24:14   also adding to the arrow and flash [TS]

01:24:16   universe with dc's legends of tomorrow [TS]

01:24:18   which is a midseason it starts in [TS]

01:24:20   January and Lucifer which is where we [TS]

01:24:24   can get that John Constantine comes back [TS]

01:24:26   and says hey remember me i was on the [TS]

01:24:27   cancelled show on NBC [TS]

01:24:29   if it i think Lucifer is gonna stink [TS]

01:24:33   yeah yeah i think the upper gonna be fun [TS]

01:24:36   and I haven't had so the pilots leaked [TS]

01:24:39   haven't seen it at all of so I'm only [TS]

01:24:41   going off the trailer the trailer that's [TS]

01:24:43   cut from the pilot yeah which seemed [TS]

01:24:46   fine maybe a little too [TS]

01:24:50   yeah and i'm trying to think of the [TS]

01:24:53   right adjective here because it's not [TS]

01:24:54   catering it's maybe tendering to Gilmore [TS]

01:24:58   Girls set a little bit but I don't carry [TS]

01:25:00   it seems good you say that like it's a [TS]

01:25:02   bad thing you like to go but I don't [TS]

01:25:03   think it is a bad thing I mean you could [TS]

01:25:05   say that about Lee which was guess what [TS]

01:25:08   a huge hit and everybody loved it and we [TS]

01:25:11   got a lot of fun actors out of it so I [TS]

01:25:14   feel like there's a lot of complaints [TS]

01:25:15   about the supergirl trailer but I mean [TS]

01:25:17   the trailers really just all they have [TS]

01:25:18   to work with is the pilot and so they [TS]

01:25:20   cut it up and the Ark of the pilot very [TS]

01:25:21   clearly if you watch that trailer is [TS]

01:25:23   she's in the job she hates and she you [TS]

01:25:25   know she's she did her bosses is [TS]

01:25:27   annoying and you know she she's in this [TS]

01:25:30   bad situation and then she you know [TS]

01:25:32   embraces her superpowers and saves a [TS]

01:25:34   plane and decides she's gonna be [TS]

01:25:35   Supergirl [TS]

01:25:36   I i don't think i ever the show is not [TS]

01:25:38   going to be like that that's the pilot [TS]

01:25:39   and then she's Supergirl after that so [TS]

01:25:42   even watching the trailer you know it [TS]

01:25:44   sets up all these sort of you know chick [TS]

01:25:46   flick rom-com clichés and then knock [TS]

01:25:48   them all down and and exactly yeah and [TS]

01:25:51   everyone complaining about the trailer [TS]

01:25:53   is focusing on the clichés and I'm [TS]

01:25:55   sitting there going yeah it's going to [TS]

01:25:57   subvert every one of them and it's going [TS]

01:25:59   to make fun of the fact that those are [TS]

01:26:00   old cliches and then I don't have a [TS]

01:26:03   totally good totally gonna be the other [TS]

01:26:05   thing is is that all of these clichés [TS]

01:26:07   are just as true for Clark Kent [TS]

01:26:10   yes like her civilian character being [TS]

01:26:13   whose name I forget a carrot everything [TS]

01:26:16   yeah basically being the like ugly betty [TS]

01:26:19   with the glasses think that's Clark Kent [TS]

01:26:21   is Clark Kent it's the same truck like [TS]

01:26:23   it [TS]

01:26:24   good Jimmy Olsen james james jimmy james [TS]

01:26:28   also pays her watcher or when I think [TS]

01:26:30   you're going to get it seems that way [TS]

01:26:32   but he seems to be included into [TS]

01:26:34   everything so i made the joke Ali mix [TS]

01:26:36   Supergirl but i think they intentionally [TS]

01:26:38   put Calista Flockhart in there to to [TS]

01:26:41   sort of emphasize that also I believe [TS]

01:26:43   that they've also cast helen slater & [TS]

01:26:45   Dean Cain because greg berlanti likes [TS]

01:26:46   bringing people back old franchise [TS]

01:26:48   working over the relationship so why not [TS]

01:26:52   listen I'm onboard dc's legends of [TS]

01:26:55   tomorrow is the is the spinoff from [TS]

01:26:56   arrow and flash that you're so stupid [TS]

01:26:58   excited about you go [TS]

01:27:00   yeah super finding it looks super fun [TS]

01:27:02   looks very doctor who wish to me like [TS]

01:27:04   traveling through time I'll make and [TS]

01:27:06   having it and rip hunter and they get [TS]

01:27:07   Rory an army doctor what are the [TS]

01:27:09   daughter will die this time making die [TS]

01:27:11   every time Dan time travel [TS]

01:27:13   that's right that's right i didn't do [TS]

01:27:16   anything you want yeah with time travel [TS]

01:27:18   and Adam and half of firestorm don't [TS]

01:27:22   know what the deal is going to be with [TS]

01:27:23   that again i don't know i think it seems [TS]

01:27:25   to me that they going to wait at the [TS]

01:27:27   other ml at Robbie Amell well it's [TS]

01:27:30   unclear to me I my theory is that is [TS]

01:27:32   that he may have a series or a pilot [TS]

01:27:34   commitment where they can't cast him or [TS]

01:27:38   or or they tried to cast him and he will [TS]

01:27:40   do it and so they're going to have some [TS]

01:27:41   sort of plot contrivance that that's my [TS]

01:27:44   theory is some-something as killers a [TS]

01:27:45   large number that there's one character [TS]

01:27:47   who is like a mystery hero who has not [TS]

01:27:49   said [TS]

01:27:50   they've not said anything about him in [TS]

01:27:51   the the theories going on the engineer [TS]

01:27:53   that he is the new author half of fire [TS]

01:27:55   yet because there is a shot of a cgi [TS]

01:27:57   firestorm in a fight scene and I cannot [TS]

01:27:59   picture Victor girl you're right but [TS]

01:28:01   it's not because I fuckers there are [TS]

01:28:03   moments that would be awesome [TS]

01:28:05   I don't set that there may be an episode [TS]

01:28:07   of the flash early next year early next [TS]

01:28:09   season where they were they [TS]

01:28:11   you know free her be her husband they [TS]

01:28:14   got married right and and yet the [TS]

01:28:16   firestorm power gets transferred to [TS]

01:28:18   somebody or something who knows but it [TS]

01:28:20   looks like a lot of fun it's like a [TS]

01:28:21   heroes and villains are going to unite [TS]

01:28:23   to fight some crazy time-travel battle [TS]

01:28:25   that excitement just do that [TS]

01:28:27   yea networks but why would you think of [TS]

01:28:29   anyone would be interested [TS]

01:28:31   I support this new system where we're [TS]

01:28:33   the millers on all the shows i watch [TS]

01:28:34   this is good [TS]

01:28:35   there is no piece of scenery too big for [TS]

01:28:37   him to eat and that is very I know he [TS]

01:28:39   has I've come all the way around on that [TS]

01:28:41   characters like yeah getting more [TS]

01:28:42   captain cold i'm there for that and then [TS]

01:28:45   I like I really like this has been a [TS]

01:28:46   really good stuff for the railings and i [TS]

01:28:48   love the Arthur Darvill wine where he's [TS]

01:28:50   like I'm from London [TS]

01:28:51   oh and the future nice i just wish you [TS]

01:28:57   all knew him in high school that's all [TS]

01:28:59   I'm saying they were all different [TS]

01:29:00   people i think we all benefit from not [TS]

01:29:02   knowing him in high school and 99 do has [TS]

01:29:05   kelley through television no camera yeah [TS]

01:29:06   exactly if we had known bj novak in high [TS]

01:29:08   school Tony than you know this might be [TS]

01:29:10   a very different world [TS]

01:29:11   ya say we we have reached the end I [TS]

01:29:15   think but there's a lot to talk about [TS]

01:29:17   lots of fun if you like that if you like [TS]

01:29:19   the superhero comic book geek and TV [TS]

01:29:21   shows now is what a time to be alive is [TS]

01:29:23   what I'm saying [TS]

01:29:24   so I'd like to thank my participants [TS]

01:29:27   tonight from the flash cast which are [TS]

01:29:30   you guys going to do you get going to do [TS]

01:29:33   season 2 comes in the fall [TS]

01:29:35   recently we've heard from the people and [TS]

01:29:37   they would like us to go back and [TS]

01:29:39   backfilling back in time yes because we [TS]

01:29:42   gave him the option of backfill or the [TS]

01:29:44   nineties flash and they chose wisely ya [TS]

01:29:46   goin up and so far that the sentiment [TS]

01:29:49   has been running about 19 in favor of [TS]

01:29:51   the like basically 95% favorite going [TS]

01:29:54   having a scope and back for the first [TS]

01:29:56   two episodes and and five percenter like [TS]

01:29:58   I would like to see you suffer so [TS]

01:30:00   listeners that five percent you're on a [TS]

01:30:04   listener yeah yeah this is a two-minute [TS]

01:30:06   audience else we can figure out the time [TS]

01:30:08   commitment for this because I would love [TS]

01:31:56   many guys I like episode with the [TS]

01:31:58   villain whose strategy is that he brings [TS]

01:32:00   more henchmen than the arrow has arrows [TS]

01:32:02   that murders like 25 guys is like how [TS]

01:32:07   many [TS]

01:33:11   listening to it now did you know that we [TS]

01:33:12   do a whole bunch of other podcasts that [TS]

01:33:13   are kinda like the incomparable but they [TS]

01:33:15   have lots of other people on and talk [TS]

01:33:16   about other things and mean that you [TS]

01:33:18   have more than one thing you can listen [TS]

01:33:19   to in a week we do you could listen to [TS]

01:33:22   let's say lazy Doctor Who starting [TS]

01:33:24   Stephen and Erica these titles and I [TS]

01:33:26   think it's funny that doctor whose [TS]

01:33:28   penchant for spoiler if entitles started [TS]

01:33:32   really really really because you get you [TS]

01:33:34   get the escape [TS]

01:33:35   yeah where they escaped at the end and [TS]

01:33:37   then this time we watched oh yeah we [TS]

01:33:38   should probably say what we watched the [TS]

01:33:40   ambush ambush episode 4 [TS]

01:33:43   yep yeah of the dollar girl or possibly [TS]

01:33:47   the mutants depending on which witch [TS]

01:33:49   thing you're looking at we don't need to [TS]

01:33:51   go into that again about me and Tim [TS]

01:33:52   Goodman from the hollywood reporter on [TS]

01:33:54   the TV talk machine the first episode is [TS]

01:33:55   called kidnapping two point O looking [TS]

01:33:58   forward to that house everyday prasad [TS]

01:34:00   kidnapping from yesterday that you're [TS]

01:34:02   going to the second episode is [TS]

01:34:04   apparently titled all capital letters [TS]

01:34:06   cmnd colon slash crash which is not a [TS]

01:34:11   thing I know it looks like a computer [TS]

01:34:13   anything not a saying that's not a thing [TS]

01:34:16   that exists anywhere i have a feeling I [TS]

01:34:18   won't be watching the second episode of [TS]

01:34:20   CSI cyber [TS]

01:34:21   I will watch later we're gonna make you [TS]

01:34:23   watch what you say not a thing [TS]

01:34:26   Oh to watch that episode details here [TS]

01:34:28   all the things that were not going oh my [TS]

01:34:30   god you guys what I were to be ok we [TS]

01:34:39   Syracuse and I debate whether things are [TS]

01:34:41   a robot or not what do we know about [TS]

01:34:43   transformers Jason one the robots in [TS]

01:34:45   disguise Autobots bridge the battle to [TS]

01:34:47   destroy the evil forces of the [TS]

01:34:48   Decepticons my god it's right there in [TS]

01:34:51   the song there are robots why they look [TS]

01:34:54   like cars there in disguise [TS]

01:34:55   yes that's a real podcast Scott McNulty [TS]

01:34:58   has gas on random track every week [TS]

01:35:00   talking star trek anytime guided [TS]

01:35:01   meditation or lucid dreaming happens I [TS]

01:35:05   get annoyed instant now [TS]

01:35:07   ok tell it was mildly annoying to me but [TS]

01:35:10   tell me can I ask you why just because [TS]

01:35:12   what [TS]

01:35:14   no I guided meditation should know later [TS]

01:35:16   bodies are what if the guided meditation [TS]

01:35:19   as a concept does not bother me right as [TS]

01:35:23   a plot tool as a plateau whenever they [TS]

01:35:25   do it it's it's a red flag to me either [TS]

01:35:27   lucid dreaming if Kota is a check okay [TS]

01:35:30   episode and guided meditation if it's a [TS]

01:35:33   Vulcan episode because it's like [TS]

01:35:35   shorthand for spiritualism and just kind [TS]

01:35:39   of annoying and when they show it like [TS]

01:35:41   I've never been guided in meditation so [TS]

01:35:44   maybe i just am unfamiliar with it but I [TS]

01:35:47   feel like it doesn't happen the way they [TS]

01:35:50   showed in this episode there's the new [TS]

01:35:51   incomparable game show in a distant [TS]

01:35:53   future where water is scarce a band of [TS]

01:35:56   Buccaneers tries to return cursed [TS]

01:35:58   treasure that renders them and morphol [TS]

01:35:59   so it's the Pirates hollows is it space [TS]

01:36:02   pirates of the current zone as it is it [TS]

01:36:05   ice pirates the ice pirates of the [TS]

01:36:06   caribbean give me the first the full [TS]

01:36:08   title [TS]

01:36:09   ok it's it's the ice pirates of the [TS]

01:36:11   caribbean the curse of the black pearl [TS]

01:36:13   10 points [TS]

01:36:16   well done the way down out a regular TV [TS]

01:36:20   reviews so if he were just some guy with [TS]

01:36:23   with mommy and daddy issues that might [TS]

01:36:25   be interesting but we have to always [TS]

01:36:26   remember is he I think the reason he's [TS]

01:36:29   doing all of this crime is because he [TS]

01:36:31   has a vision and so when Madame GAO's [TS]

01:36:34   supply is not flowing it's not that he's [TS]

01:36:36   not going to make his duckets to be able [TS]

01:36:38   to afford another SUV if that it's [TS]

01:36:40   impeding his vision of being able to [TS]

01:36:42   make the city that the way the things [TS]

01:36:44   that needs to be and like what greater [TS]

01:36:46   villain could you have clinical and then [TS]

01:36:48   somebody who has a vision that they [TS]

01:36:50   think they need to see through that [TS]

01:36:51   that's it's so great and you know it's [TS]

01:36:54   for you just mentioned the whole vision [TS]

01:36:55   thing because it he is on a long game [TS]

01:36:59   and at the end the day he was not out of [TS]

01:37:02   control he did it systematically for [TS]

01:37:05   reason to start a war [TS]

01:37:07   anthony johnson and guests defend the [TS]

01:37:09   unjustly maligned so i started watching [TS]

01:37:11   worship and she came into the room one [TS]

01:37:14   day and she was like are you watching [TS]

01:37:15   Murder She Wrote [TS]

01:37:16   haha [TS]

01:37:17   and I said yes I am and she said oh my [TS]

01:37:19   grandmother loved that show [TS]

01:37:22   I feel like a lot of people's [TS]

01:37:26   grandparents really loved murderer hurts [TS]

01:37:29   Dungeons and Dragons action on total [TS]

01:37:31   party kill I came here for him the door [TS]

01:37:33   was open i close the door and locked it [TS]

01:37:36   behind me [TS]

01:37:36   yes ok I've got my reasons [TS]

01:37:40   how did you how did you get into the [TS]

01:37:42   cabinet with doors are always locked the [TS]

01:37:44   door was open when I walked in obviously [TS]

01:37:46   and then these two suddenly i heard this [TS]

01:37:48   loud exploding teak sound and these two [TS]

01:37:53   came busting in the door role for [TS]

01:37:55   deception Matthew cook and much more [TS]

01:38:01   check it all out at the incomparable [TS]

01:38:03   dot-com [TS]
